Book Description
Sometimes Christians forget they have an enemy. But let your guard down for just a moment and Satan -- ever watchful for an opportunity -- is waiting to attack not just you but your family as well. Jim Logan shows how Christ alone can save your home from the destructive powers of bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, and anger.

One of the bests books on Spiritual Warfare...........2007-08-02
If your looking for a very informative book on spiritual warfare, this book should be added to your collection.. The author knows what he is talking about and offers fantastic advice for protecting yourself and your family... Too bad they dont teach this stuff in churches... This is a Christian approach (and frankly the christian approach is the only approach you should be using anyway! Amen!) You'll be glad you got this book.
Reclaiming Surrendered Ground: Protecting Your Family From Spirtual Attacks.......2007-04-11
Very helpful book. I especially recommend that Pastors read this book so that they can counsel members of their congregation that might be struggling with demonic attacks. As Christians, we are very naive to the wiles and working of the devil. We tend to ignore the fact that we are in a spirtual battle. Until we are knocked down by the enemy, we don't do anything. So we fail to live in the victory Jesus has won for us on the cross. Jim Logan educates on how to reclaim lost ground and how to live in Jesus' victory for us. I think this book will be an eye-opener for many readers. I highly recommended it to every believer!!!!
Super book.......2006-12-30
A friend suggested that I get this book and read it. I am so glad that I did. Dr. Logan presents biblical truth in an interesting, storytelling fashion which I so appreciated. There are many wonderful nuggets of wisdom and some truly "so that's why" insights. His counsel is sound and carefully crafted. Get this book for yourself and for your family's sake. You won't regret it.
CHUCK FULL WITH SCRIPTUAL SIMPLICITY.......2005-10-10
COVERS ALL AREAS WITH SIMPLE BIBLICAL SIMPLICITY. SHOWS OBVIOUS TRUTHS WITH CLARITY.
Concise and Clearly Written.......2002-02-01
This is the most clearly written book I have read on spiritual warfare. Too many books get bogged down in theology and cerebral arguements. Jim Logan explains exactly what spiritual warfare is, how the believer and non-believer alike are affected and what to do about it. He backs up what he says with Scripture. This is a must read for anyone interested in or dealing with spiritual warfare!

Among other important lessons, readers learn how to:
- Construct a solid financial action plan when divorce seems imminent
- Get a complete picture of family finances, including the low down on a spouse's small business or intellectual assets
- Negotiate a win-win financial settlement
- Choose the best settlement method, from options including mediated, arbitrated, and collaborative agreements
- Avoid tax penalties and pitfalls and deal with retirement nest egg, 401(k), and SSI issues
Customer Reviews:
Detailed!!.......2006-05-24
Helps you to understand the complexity of marital debt/assets. In doing post-divorce mediation, the aftermath is worse than the initial filing of the divorce petition. Here we have two consenting adults reigning over the financial thrones of the other. Leaving their financial future in the hands of someone bitter will only gain negative results. What makes one think the court order will enforce resolution? The other party may not feel the urge to pay out of malice. This can lead to foreclosures, collection calls, garnishments, jdgements/liens, (ALL in YOUR name!!!) and frustration.
Being obligated on debt/assets and assuming resolution is a narrow-minded field of scope. This book describes the wide range of capacity in which you should consult with your attorney to ensure fair equitable distribution and negotiation. A mediator is usually sought out or court-ordered for disputes such as this.
Support issues such as commingled funds, both spouses' rights to pensions and social security, equitable business, equitable mortgage , child support, spousal support, and other dividends are dissertated in this book.
This book has so much information in it that is very useful to me as a practitioner. Divorcing couples need to get this for the outcome of what is to be.

Customer Reviews:
More about Passing on rather than Protecting........2006-11-01
I thought this book would be chock full of information on how to protect your assets from ruinous or frivolous lawsuits through the use of LLCs or other methods. Although the book does touch on this, by far, the bigger emphasis is on creating revocable trusts to streamline the inheritance issues and the many risks of poor planning in this area. It would be better titled "Passing On Your Financial Assets" and as such it would be an excellent 5 Star book on estate planning. However, I can only give it 4 stars since it's called "Protecting" which I found a bit misleading.
Protecting Your Finances.......2006-09-11
This book is a must read! The book covers so many topics such as: writing a will, protecting your business, protecting your assets, provides sample documents, and much more. This book has definitely expanded my knowledge about protecting my finances. I assumed these techniques were only available to wealthy people. I was so engrossed in the book I read it in two days. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and family.
A Must Read to Protect Your Family & Your Financial Future.......2003-03-11
This is a simple, easy to read book about how to protect your money, savings and your assets. It reads like a novel with good stories, yet it has information like a reference book that you can easily refer to over and over again. I had never heard of the authors before, but when I found out it was a Time/Warner Book of the Month Club Selection, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. You will be too.
An interesting book on a not so interesting topic.......1999-11-30
This book is very readable and clear. It makes a potentially boring topic interesting and understandable. It is insightful and helps make the point that trusts are important for those with even just modest estates. It is a bit repetitious at times and contains a few too many personal stories, but it is otherwise motivating and a very useful guide for those unfamiliar with the legal world.

Customer Reviews:
every therapist needs this book.......1999-09-21
The primary author is well known as an instructor of "Family Law" for graduate students of psychology, social work, marriage & family therapy, etc. at several north Texas universities. His courses are always well-received. A previous reviewer commented that a mental health professional would have been helpful. I doubt that would make a difference since so many professionals from various clinical disciplines use these authors as resources. This book is a great adjunct to remind yourself what you need to do as a professional to protect yourself & your clients. While you do not offer legal advice if you are not an attorney, being aware of these issues makes a counselor more likely to recommend that a client see an attorney for advice. Also, re-reading this book on a regular basis reminds us of what we need to continue to do to protect our professional licenses. Often when we are in private practice, just as in other areas of life, we sometimes get lax or forget to attend to all the details necessary to protect us as professionals & our clients. This book is a must for your professional library.
Going into practice? Here's what you must know first........1999-04-13
I stumbled across this book while preparing a project as part of my undergrad Psychology studies at the University of Utah. What a lucky find this is! *** Many statements exist in the world of mental health practice regarding what standards of professionalism, ethicality, conduct, and confidentiality a psychologist should adhere to. Many of them, I've discovered so far, are abstract: they state the standard but give little, if any, illustration on how a practicing therapist applies all that to his/her job and life. This book is the first I've uncovered that gives the clear and understandable picture that I need as an aspiring psychologist. *** I think I understand well enough the general principle that motivated the authors to write this book: all too often, each of us has gotten burned in the past because of some rule, some technicality, some law that would have worked in our favor had we acted with a knowledge of it. For example, I know someone who wouldn't have paid a single cent of his medical bills caused by an on-the-job accident had he simply reported his injury within 48 hours instead of waiting a week. Things like that. I'm always making sure I do things like keep receipts, review credit card statements, and watch what creeps into my college transcripts, because it's the little things that can screw our lives up so badly. All the more so for therapists, the authors believe, because of their heavy responsibility to safeguard their clients' welfare, and because unfortunately their training doesn't seem to prepare them for some types of potential legal trouble. *** As part of that approach, this book takes an interesting departure from other literature on mental health ethics. Despite what the title says, the contents seem to focus not so much on protecting the client--although that principle is by no means diminished--as it does on protecting the therapist. That may seem selfish, but hey, you've got to learn this stuff somehow! *** The authors do an excellent job of explaining a diversity of issues in understandable ways. They use well-constructed scenarios that make you ask yourself, "what would I do if faced with this dilemma?" Then they systematically explain what the options are, and what to avoid along the way. They show you several sample documents along the way that demonstrate how to remove any legal doubts from your practice. The objective is to prevent things from going wrong, but they also discuss when things get ugly, such as a client who commits suicide and the relatives sue you, the therapist, for malpractice. Or when to breach confidentiality and activate your "duty to warn" if a client threatens violence against someone else--or yourself. *** I noted that the authors were both lawyers, and that only one was licensed as a master social worker. I wish, despite their impressive knowledge and experience, that a psychologist might have collaborated with them on this work. I wonder what sort of change in perspective it would have brought to have someone involved in this writing who was solely a practioner of mental health, and not of law. *** Nevertheless, if you have a vested interest in psychology, I think this is essential reading. If you are a practicing psychologist, and you do not completely know these practical issues, you may be an unwitting candidate for some serious trouble. If you are, like me, someone who hopes one day to become a psychologist, this is an excellent way to introduce and orient yourself to some very pertinent information--and get a firm and realistic picture of what it's really going to be like for you. Best you pay attention.

Easy Reading about Difficult Issues.......2007-06-01
This book is amazing. The authors have a great way of making light of issues that most don't want to think about, let alone read about. While it is light-hearted, the book is also quite informative - It is a must read for old and young.
An invaluable resource.......2007-05-16
My mother-in-law lost her battle against ovarian cancer in December. If only my husband and I had this book when she was diagnosed! It contains so much helpful advice that could have made the past two years less of a nightmare. The book has great information on clinical trials and hospice. It also would have helped us make sure all the right legal documents were in place. If we'd had access to this information earlier on, I think we could have saved a lot of money on attorney fees. Since I'm in my late thirties, I've never given much thought to wills, etc. But after reading this book, and watching the whole Anna Nicole saga on TV, I understand how crucial it is to have the proper paperwork, and am in the process of having a will and other documents drawn up myself.
A must read for you and your family .......2007-05-10
As a woman who graduated with a Psychology degree - and then shifted gears to become an Estates & Trusts lawyer - I find that Ms. Whitman and Dr. Glisson smoothly combine information from often-disparate schools of thought in their book. Planning for the end of your life is not just a medical, business, or legal affair; it is also a matter of the heart. These authors get that. The tone of the book instantly puts the reader at ease, with the use of humor and quotes from everyday people who completed surveys on the topic, and provides critical information no matter in what stage of life you find yourself. Share it with those you love.

Forewarned is forearmed.......2002-12-19
You may think you are protected from wrongful accusations by clients, but this book demonstrates that in most cases you are not. I didn't know anything about such matters until a dear friend and colleague was unjustly accused, and unfortunately didn't have the help of this book. What she went through damaged not only her ability but her desire to continue making her living as a therapist. I stopped doing custody cases after I saw what happened. ON YOUR SIDE is the best -- perhaps the only -- source of step-by-step help for embattled practitioners. I'm grateful to have found it and have been telling every therapist I know. If you find yourself on the spot, this book will explain the intricacies of the system and advise you step-by-step on the best practical (and psychological) ways to defend yourself. But please, don't wait until it happens!
Essential for psychotherapists.......2002-12-16
This book covers what psychotherapists need to know in order to protect themselves in our litigious world. I'm recommending it to all of my colleagues.

Things our professors never told us!.......2002-12-15
As a healthcare professional, I found this work to be extremely useful and cautionary. It is one of those rare non-fiction books that informs while being completely absorbing. "Adams" brings sensitivity, intelligence, experience and wisdom to this compelling read. By generously exposing the pitfalls we may face because our chosen profession is at the mercy of the legal system, "Adams" shows us how to safeguard ourselves and our livelihood. If you think malpractice insurance will protect you, think again...and read this book!
staying out of trouble.......2002-12-14
After reading this book, I realize some of my ordinary behavior must be changed.Having been trained to use counter transferential observations as an important tool, I often recorded my feelings during the sessions in my notes. I now understand this is a serious mistake. Tragically, I now think of my notes as a public document in a potential investigation of my professional practice. I don't like doing it, but I now document my activities around my one client who is potentially suicidal. I feel I have been warned in time, so I now practice with more awareness of potential litigation.

Customer Reviews:
Steve Russo - check your facts!.......2007-06-20
Dear Steve Russo -
Please check your facts and information before you write yet ANOTHER book slandering Wicca and Witchcraft. Obviously you do not know what you are talking about, and are simply writing these books without factual claims just to make a dollar. Shame on you.
To anyone who is considering buying this book, do not waste your money on it. All he is doing with this book is trying to take your money with lies and trying to bring back the idea into society that burning people at the stake is okay. If you are closed-minded though and buy into utter nonsense like this, then it is a perfect book for you.
Horrible.......2007-04-24
What this Russo guy probably didn't tell you is that Wicca is nothing to fear! There is witchcraft, yes, but Wicca isn't as so. It's a harm none belief that isn't anything to do with saton or other Christian no no's. Many don't agree with Wicca, all because they don't know what it really is. This book is only continuing the sterotype and is not what we need right now, with it giving the wrong impression.
" Confronting" not " understanding".......2006-09-28
First, I think I should tell you that this book and another of Steve Russo's " What's the Deal with Wicca" is The SAME BOOK but with passages rearranged.
Secondly as a Wiccan for over two decades, presumably I would know all about my religion. Russo does not diffentiate between the various Pagan groups, Wicca and " witchcraft". I think he makes no distinction deliberately. On the surface the book(s) looks semi- well researched, but a more informed reader can see that is a mask for the same old " all other religions are decepttions of satan" stuff that books attacking Wicca and the occult in the 1980s spewed out from Christian publishing houses. The sanctimonious arguments that Wicca has no real values, we worship the creation not the creator, ad nauseum shows a pretense of knowledge but more of the author's own biases than anything objective.
Russo's biases and Bible-'rationalized" intolerance shows through no matter how much he tries to sweeten it. And, like in many " arguments" for comversion, Russo cheats. If you are a parent cocnerned about your teen involed in Wicca, this book is NOT the one you should read. " When Someone You Love is Wiccan" by Carl McColman is far more informantive, unbiased, and the author is not trying to decieve you to uphold his own biases.
An OK read, but disappointing.......2006-09-20
As a Christian with friends and aquaintences involved in Wicca, I picked up this book looking for insight and practical advice for parents of teens.
Steve Russo has some great insights but, as other reviewers have noted, he does not fully differentiate between the varied world-views found within the Pagan, Neopagan, Wicca, Witchcraft, and other spiritual groups on which he comments. I did find his glossary of terms to be be useful and in some cases, the definition of terms themselves cleared up a few of the points from areas of the book that were lacking.
Steve Russo does address parents directly and asks them to examine their own beliefs and opinions, warning them and all of us, not to jump to conclusions or be alarmed at the slightest hint of their teen's interest in the supernatural. All humans long to connect with something greater than themselves and that is what, I believe, Steve Russo is pointing out in this book.
This book is OK. For more on this topic, I suggest looking into Marcia Montenegro's new book (Sept 2006) called "Spellbound; The Paranormal Seduction of Today's Kids" or for a book dealing specifically with Wicca, pick up Catherine Edwards Sanders, "Wicca's Charm."
i don't even know where to start..........2006-05-05
I don't want to give this book only one star because at least his writing makes sense gramatically...but when it comes to the facts, he's way off.
for starters... the title and main book description lead one to believe that wicca and witchcraft are one in the same, they are not.
Witchcraft is the art of spellcrafting and use of herbs and stones and other such items.
Wicca is A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which sometimes includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft. not always. you don't have to practice witchcraft to be wiccan.
yes there are some "witches" (ie: people who practice witchcraft) who try to use negative power and energy for things that might not be too wholesome, but wicca, the religion being attacked, does not condone, let alone teach or preach that in any way shape or form. Claiming so is a blantant lie.
many many books clearly state that so if he really had done any research he would have come across that. then again, maybe he did but decided that lumping it all together will scare parents more.
