Money maven Suze Orman's latest book, Women & Money addresses the complicated (and often dysfunctional) relationship women have with personal finance. Orman's direct, non-condescending style is perfect for this subject matter--she begins with the premise that "Women can invest, save, and handle debt as well and skillfully as any man" and then tackles the important question--"So why don't they?" Designed to educate and inspire, Women & Money also offers a "Save Yourself Plan," a five-month program that "delivers genuine long-term financial security." Want to know more? Watch a video message from Suze below, and take a gander at the first chapter of Women & Money--you'll be "controlling your destiny" in no time. --Daphne Durham

Read the First Chapter of Women & Money
For Women Only
I never thought I'd write a book about money just for women. I never thought it was necessary. So then why am I doing just that in my eighth book? And why now? Let me explain. All my previous books were written with the belief that gender is not a factor on any level in mastering the nuts and bolts of smart financial management. Women can invest, save, and handle debt just as well and skillfully as any man. I still believe that--why would anyone think differently? So imagine my surprise when I learned that some of the people closest to me in my life were in the dark about their own finances. Clueless. Or, in some cases, willfully resisting doing what they knew needed to be done. I'm talking about smart, competent, accomplished women who present a face to the world that is pure confidence and capability. Do you mean to tell me that I, Suze Orman, who make my living solving the financial problems of total strangers, couldn't spot the trouble brewing so close to home? I don't think I'm blind; I just think that these women became very, very good at hiding their troubles from me.Why not? They had years of practice hiding them from themselves.

Book Description
Why is it that women, who are so competent in all other areas of their lives, cannot find the same competence when it comes to matters of money?
Suze Orman investigates the complicated, dysfunctional relationship women have with money in this groundbreaking new book. With her signature mix of insight, compassion, and soul-deep recognition, she equips women with the financial knowledge and emotional awareness to overcome the blocks that have kept them from making more out of the money they make. At the center of the book is The Save Yourself Plan—a streamlined, five-month program that delivers genuine long-term financial security. But what’s at stake is far bigger than money itself:
It’s about every woman’s sense of who she is and what she deserves, and why it all begins with the decision to save yourself.

Bought this for a good friend who was widowed a year ago and had not been involved in finances during the marriage. She is digging herself out of some financial challenges and she said the book made her feel really good about her progress. Highly recommend!!

I've listened to Suze Orman on TV and I bought this book for my wife who doesn't want to manage her portfolio. She still won't manage her portfolio, but she's getting smarter about investments.

Suze Orman Shares Investing Common Sense with Her Book Women & Money ~ Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny
By Lisa Manyon [...]
Money is a topic you either embrace or avoid. Orman's book delivers straight talk on investing for women and building individual wealth.
Personally I've always know just enough about investing to put some money away each month and I rely on financial advisors to steer me in the right direction.
Suze shares a candid look at her life and how she got to where she is now. Plus she offers a no nonsense approach to making sure women begin to really think about taking care of their own business.
With an uplifting vein of optimism about what is possible throughout the book, Orman successfully illustrates traits and tactics to help women thoughtfully approach investing.
Orman's 8 qualities of wealthy women have been shared on national talk shows and cannot be stressed enough.
Qualities 1 and 2 are harmony and balance. These are said to be the most important qualities because they are the foundation for all other qualities.
Quality 3 is courage. Orman writes that "Courage gives harmony expression. When your thoughts and feelings are one, courage helps you manifest them in the form of words and actions."
Quality 4 is generosity. Orman points out that woman tap into this almost too quickly. We tend to be overly generous with our time, support, love and money. The true measure of generosity, according to Orman, is being able to allow money to come into your hands and out through your heart.
This was a concept I can relate to. Orman challenges women to look at why and what they give and how it makes them feel. She also offers six rules for giving (but, you'll have to grab a copy of the book to find out what these are).
Quality number 5 is happiness. According to Orman when you find the courage to live your life in harmony and balance, you understand and practice generosity, happiness will spontaneously appear.
And perhaps the most important point she shares about happiness is this; "Happiness is not a luxury. It is a necessity for true wealth."
Quality number 6 comes in the form of wisdom. Who doesn't want to be wiser?
According to Orman, wisdom is more than intellectual and not directly related to education. Wisdom is an express result of tapping into your core beliefs to make the right decisions for yourself.
The 7th quality is cleanliness and is all about the importance of order and organization. A laundry list of situations that subtract from your wealth status include;
- Not knowing where your money is
- Not having a systematized filing system for important documents
- Pulling crumpled bills and receipts out of your purse
- Maintaining a vehicle that looks like a garbage can
- Having closets that are filled with junk and clutter.
I am sure most of us can relate to at least one area we need to work on. I have to admit, as organized as I am, I could relate to a couple of those scenarios. Orman's philosophy really makes sense and I've corrected my personal problem areas. My first order of business was donating clothing I had not used or worn in the past year to charity.
The final quality is beauty. Orman ties all the qualities together by noting beauty is what you achieve when all the qualities are combined.
To some it may seem strange that the qualities of wealthy women are included in a book on investing. However, if you personally don't possess the qualities it will not be as easy for you to achieve your wealth potential.
In addition to the foundational building blocks Orman shares solid advice on choosing the right investor, the importance of having one personal savings account in your name only and discusses investment options in layman's terms so anyone can get started right way.
Very Informative, every woman should read this........2007-09-10
I learned a lot from this book, this book has been very inspirational for me, I feel more in control of my financial future.
Women & Money.......2007-09-08
Suze is an easy read. She doesn't talk down, but she doesn't overwhelm. She offers sound, practical advice that only requires an attitude of resolve. Ladies, you can do it with this advice. It's helping me get better focused, and teaching me practical tips that I wouldn't have known, otherwise. Very, very easy read. Entertaining as well as educational.

In the last book in the A-LIST series (American Beauty: An A-List Novel (A-List #7)), the gang had finally graduated while discovering some juicy secrets. Cammie had discovered more information on what really happened to her mother. Sam was finally reunited with Eduardo, and Anna met Caine, who was nothing like her boyfriend, Ben. And Ben's dirty little secret wasn't a secret any longer.
The A-Listers are back again in HEART OF GLASS, and this time with a little twist.
Anna and Cammie have to work together - that's right, together - on a charity fashion show. But they got off easy, since this little community service project was the result of getting caught trespassing on a celebrity's estate. No worries, these two can work together, right?
Anna and Caine are getting a little closer, while Ben doesn't seem to worry so much. While Adam and Cammie are trying to make things work, we're hoping that opposites really do attract. Sam is still trying to adjust to living with Poppy, and maybe trying to get rid of her at the same time, while making sure nothing goes wrong with her and Eduardo. And Dee, well, she's Dee, trying to get back on her feet.
The gang is back and it's going to be one sizzling summer.
Eighth in the series, HEART OF GLASS is still filled with secrets, lies, and plenty of drama. The best thing about this series is that the material is never old and it still keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The cast is still great and you just love Anna more and more after each book. Lets just say that HEART OF GLASS is more appealing than another episode of a certain teen drama on a new network - at least I'm experiencing something I haven't seen before!

I am crazy over this series ... i think that this book had to be the most mouth dropping one ... i almost feel like zoey can't write these books fast enough ... i feel like i can identify w/ every character on one level or another ... zoey dean delivers everytime you read one of her books
Pretty Good..........2007-05-17
I've been following the A-List novels since they came out a few years ago. There were tons of these book series floating around--the rich, cliquey girls who seemed to be mean and exclusionary--there were the Gossip Girls, the Clique... you get my drift.
Of all the books of that sort, A-List was the one that caught my eye. I followed it religiously for a while, but I got to one particular book in the series and almost gave up on it. The name-dropping and overall snobbery frustrated me to the point that I almost didn't give a flying ice cream cone about Anna and Ben or Dee's increasing psychosis.
Dean has redeemed herself with this last one, though. The characters are proving to be much more dimensional than first thought, and although they still tend to get themselves into outrageous situations, they are handling them with class and the kind of assertiveness I wish I'd had as a teenager. I really enjoyed this last book and I am looking forward to the "next juicy A-List novel."

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Zoey Keeps It Going!.......2007-08-17
Zoey Dean keeps her story of the A- list going in American Beauty. In this book, the seniors on the A-list are graduating and that means hanging out with friends, and going to parties. Anna is in a car crash and her dad sends his new intern Caine to come help her. Anna becomes good friends with Caine. Also things with Ben aren't doing that well, and they get into a fight at a party. Cammie tries to find out more about her moms death and Sam helps her by meeting up with her mom from North Carolina. Sam finally gets Eduardo back and they agree never to kiss anyone again, other than those two. Everyone goes to a girl from another school, Stefanie, and they set her up to get revenge, for what she said about Sam in the past. In the end they graduate and Anna chooses to hang out with Caine instead of Ben. Zoey really keeps her readers interested in this series.
So good.......2007-06-08
This is one of the best of the A-list novels. These books are so easy to relate to, and since I live in LA, I know every location that is talked about in the novel.
Awesome!!.......2006-12-04
I loved this book! I read it in two days(and I'm a slow-reader)! I thought it was great, but somehow I don't like what happens to Anna and Ben. They weren't together while he was with Blythe, his mistake was not to tell her in the first place... but we'll see what happens to them in the next book! But it doesn't come out until April... we will have to wait a long time, but I hope it's worth it!!
A-List 7: American Beauty.......2006-11-05
So... Cammie and Sam try to find out whether her father really killed her mother, Anna thinks something is wrong with Ben and happens to be absolutely right, and Jack and Dee have a great relationship... or so it seems.
The only reason I gave it four stars was because it seemed kind of... I don't know... lacking. I usually have fun seeing what kind of reckless stuff the people do but this book didn't really have much in the wild and reckless department. It was kind of serious, more serious than the others.
The A-list, the guiltiest of guilty pleasures!!.......2006-10-16
I have read the A-list from the beginning and there is one main reason why it became one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Two Words: Sam Sharpe. This is my favorite character, I just love they way she developed, her approach to things, her cynicism that hides a very emotionally troubled young woman. She is the less cliched of all the four main characters (Anna...classy, prim and proper Hampton girl, yawn..., Cammie the uberbitch always on the verge of redeeming herself and Dee the real LosAngelino character, with all her ingenuity, incense sticks and sojourns in the loony bin). These stories, developments and characters are totally unreal, but hey people, this is FICTION! And meant to be FUN! The characters won't cover their heads in ashes, donate their money to the poor and join Mother Teresa's nuns...It is so exaggerated that it is fascinating for a European like yours truly...
Only CAVEAT: I would actually NOT recommend this book to teens, because many of them could mistake it for reality, or set their goals way over the top.

Not the best, but still good.......2007-07-23
Cecily's fifth book in the Gossip Girl series was a fun read, but not as good as the first four. In this book, Blair ditches her families' vacation to Hawaii to go to Sun Valley, Idaho, with Serena. Also going to Sun Valley is Nate with his new girlfriend Georgie, who still has problems because when she there she gets caught by the cops with Chuck Bass for indecent exposure, but Chuck's family bails them both out. Blair falls in love with Erik, Serena's brother, and Serena gets annoyed, but the two break up because Blair isn't ready. Back in New York, Dan gets an internship with the famous published company, Red Letter, but after a week he quits becuase his boss annoys him by making him send letters and get exspensive caviar. Vanessa's parents are in town and go to a bunch of art shows, at which one she mets Jordy, but nothing really serious goes on, and she finds that she still loves Dan. And last, Jenny leaves her boyfirend Leo, after she finds out that he is not rich and she doesn't like his secrets. This book was good overall, and still a good book to read, but it just wasn;t as charming as the others.
relatively decent. a bit on the wild side........2006-11-08
I found this book hard to read; or at least hard to read the entirity of it. I ended up skipping everything inside, with the exception of the chapters that featured Nate and Blair. Neither Dan or Vannessa can hold my interest, and Nate's 'girlfriend' is actually quite psycho. I could barely focus during the book, it didn't hold my interest like the majority of the other books did. I wouldn't reccomend it, unless you want to read every book in the Gossip Girl series. The vacation the gang takes is rather crazy, but why am i not surprised? Serena ends up naked, alone, and in the snow. Leaving Nate to find her and warm her back up. Blair almost loses it (again) to brother of Serena, Erik.
throw in a gay snowboarding team, and Chuck - and you've got yourself a mediocre novel with crazy sub-plots.
Gossip Girl in General.......2006-09-22
I find the gossip girl books to be very entertaining. They fit around the same area as The Clique (which are entertaining, but let's face it, the girls have stupid 'non-problems') only for an older set. All of the books live up to expectations of the rest. I think that all of the characters are interesting and the story line keeps you guessing and entertained.
bad.......2006-08-26
This book is so bad! This is the fifth book out of gossip girl and alot of things in this book are so bad that I have to skip alot of pages. I don't care about Dan and Vanessa anymore. Too boring and even worse when Vanessa's parents show up. Nate's girl friend is too retarded and too unbelievable to believe, and the gay snowboarding team? Are you kidding me? Why does Chuck of all guys become gay all of a sudden? It doesn't make any sense! I hate the character Rusty and I really hate Jenny. Snooping on her boyfriend like that all the time and that's all that happens with her in this book. Jennys friend Elise and Dan kiss. That was really stupid. This whole book is stupid and makes no sense. I loved gossip girls until this fifth one came out.
Not the Best.......2006-07-03
I have been hooked on the Gossip Girl series since the first book and I have currently read up to the fifth, I Like it Like That, but honestly, I wouldn't have mind skipping it. I thought this book was a little bit predictable and boring. Jenny is my least favorite character because, is it just me or does she seems like she goes after guys that are rich and handsome? After she finds out Leo is "normal" she dumps him. It seemed to me that he had a nice personailty and that should have been enough. The last book I was so hooked on the Vanessa & Dan relastionship, but this one I was actually skipping the chapters about them. Blair & Serena have always been my favorites, and that is what saved this book. Their adventures in Sun Valley was the best part and never really was boring in my opinon. Also GG [Gossip Girl] saved this book as well. Her entries are always funny and interesting to look at. Some people say that Cecily von Ziegsar writes using profound words such as the "f" word. Well I have to say that im a teenager to and to be honest, that is how most teens talk. Cecily really captured the life of a teenager well with the stress on schools [im 13 and picking a HIGH school is tough for me, think about college], also sex and drugs. I know people that are much younger than Blair and Serena and have more experience with these things than all of the characters put together. And also family troubles, because every family has them right? Her choice of words are accurate and theres nothing wrong with that, and besides in the fifth book she hardly swears if ever, I wasn't paying much attention to that. Overall though, this book wasn't the best, but the series is!

As breathtaking as a first kiss.......2007-09-29
Blair Waldorf is having the worst time of her life. She has just completely flubbed her Yale interview, even going so far as to kiss her interviewer; she must contend with a dreadlock-bearing new stepbrother named Aaron, who seems to have some ulterior motives up his sleeve; her mother is marrying a loser whom she has known for hardly no time at all; and, to top it all off, Nate has ditched her for a chesty ten-year-old - well, she looks ten. Luckily, she and Serena van der Woodsen are back on speaking terms, and living it up as BFF's once more. But who knows how long that will last.
The holidays are just around the corner, and with the Upper East Side absolutely freezing, everyone who's loaded is planning on ditching their Marc Jacobs coats, and slipping into their Missoni string bikinis for a Christmas in a tropical place. With Nate Archibald having called it quits with Blair in order to take up a romance with freshman Jenny Humphrey, Blair is anything but ready to say goodbye to the city, and head off to St. Bart's with Serena, where they can sunbathe topless, and, perhaps, have a winter fling. Unfortunately, Serena is being stalked by Flow, the hottest rock star on the planet - at least at the moment - and can't seem to shake him off, and Blair, armed with her iBook plans on holing up in the hotel room writing the essay for her Yale application. Looks like this vacation won't be as sizzling as originally planned. But with Blair's new stepbrother, Aaron, and his pal Miles in tow, you never know when the sparks will fly.
Back in the city, Nate and Jenny are having the time of their life. But with Blair's sudden appearances at every turn, Nate finds himself more and more drawn to the girl he has known and loved for so many years. But then there's Jenny. Sweet, innocent, voluptuous Jenny. Maybe if Nate spent less time being baked, and more time being straight, he'd be able to decide who he's truly lusting over.
Then there's Jenny's older brother, Dan. Since admitting their passion for one another, Dan and Vanessa have been having a whirlwind romance - albeit a dark one - filled with foreign films, cigarettes, strong instant coffee, and lots and lots of black. But since falling in love, Dan finds himself at a standstill regarding his poetry. Suddenly, he's experiencing writer's block firsthand, and it's not a pretty picture. But when Vanessa supposedly does something that betrays both him and Jenny, he wonders if this is the push he needs to get his writing back on track - and to get even.
Three books down, and still Cecily von Ziegesar is going strong; creating intoxicating storylines that leave you craving more, and dying to find out what will happen to S, B, N, and the rest of the gang. Finally Blair and Serena are back to their old tricks, partying 'till the break of dawn, and hamming it up for the cameras. While their friendship is a beautiful thing, and it's wonderful to see them back on speaking terms, the fact that they're not at each other's throats any longer kind of makes the reader miss their feuding; however, their gossip fests about their friends, and their many shopping sprees certainly make up for their catfights. Jenny is still the sweet girl we all know and love from GOSSIP GIRL and YOU KNOW YOU LOVE ME; but in AS LONG AS WE'RE TOGETHER, she finally seems to be growing up a bit, and it's nice to see her stand up for herself for once, and not allow people to push her around. Her relationship with her brother, Dan, seems to have changed slightly. Suddenly, he's watching her every move, and not being as friend-like towards her. Instead, seeming more like a jail warden. But, no matter what, you can't help but love each and every one of them - even the slightly creepy Miles, who seems to be stalking Blair. Of course, the installment wouldn't be complete without Gossip Girl reporting straight from...wherever, giving us all the lowdown on what it takes to be a part of the In Crowd, and providing us with the status of every move all of our favorite characters take. As breathtaking as a first kiss.

Another great Gossip Girl.......2007-07-05
Cecily's back with another great Gossip Girl novel. In this installment, it's Christmastime and almost everybodies in a great mood. Blair invites Serena, to go to St. Barts island for Christmas with her because Blairs mom is on her honeymoon. Serena has a lover, Flow, who annoys her buy always giving her presents, unfortunately he doesn't understand how to back off. Aaron's friend Miles, falls in love with Blair, while Blair get disgusted with Aaron for staring at her naked. So Blair and Serena leave early so Blair can wotk on her screenplay for her Yale Admmissions Essay, while Serena gets help from some friends, Kati and Isabel for the best New Years Party ever. Cecily did another great job on this novel, like her other ones. This series is really addicting and breathtaking. I reccomend it to anyone.
All I Want Is Everything (Gossip Girl, 3}.......2007-05-12
This book was for my teenage daughter. She loved it!!
All I Want Is Everything.......2007-04-14
All I Want Is Everything, Gossip Girl novel, written by Cecily von Ziegaeser is a book full of action and drama. I read this book a few weeks ago and I have read it along with all the others in the series. This book is number 3 in the series. So I suggest that you read the two others before starting this one because it might not make sense. In this book, Blair and her new best friend Serena go to St. Bart's for the Christmas vacation with Blair's family. Blair recently broke up with her boyfriend Nate and is meeting all new kinds of guys, but at the same time, she really misses her ex-boyfriend. Also Blair, the main character in this book, is trying to get into Yale. If you are a teenage girl, who loves realistic fiction books, you will love this series! Enjoy your reading!
So bad it's good.......2007-01-21
All of our favorite obnoxious teenage socialites are back in book 3 and trying to get through midterm exams so they can celebrate Christmas. Nate and Jenny are still together although he seemed so baked all the time that no one is sure, including him, whether or not he really cares for Jenny. Dan and Vanessa are enjoying their decision to make their relationship romantic although the sexual tension may prove too much for the pair. Blair is still feeling down over losing Nate, but her friendship with Serena is better than ever and if they can make it through their exams they will celebrate on the beach in St. Barts. But as usual, her family has surprises in store that will threaten to ruin the vacation that is supposed to be so perfect.
Again, the story and the characters are superficial and ridiculous, but that's why this series is so much fun. Everyone has incredible amounts of money, everyone is stereotypical to the extreme, and readers will enjoy reading about them with voyeristic pleasure. Know that this book is a quick and easy read and the guilt becomes easier to handle.

Book Description
Popular Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey is making a splash at Waverly Academy, an elite boarding school in New York horse country where glamorous rich kids don't let the rules get in the way of an excellent time. It's less than a week into school, but Jenny's already been caught with her roommate's boyfriend (in bed!), flashed the whole school at a field hockey game, and gone up against the Disciplinary Committee. She's become notorious, just like Tinsley Carmichael, Waverly's former It Girl, who was expelled last year and is rumored to be jet-setting around the world. So what happens when Tinsley arrives back on campus and moves in with Jenny? After all, there can only be one It Girl.

16 year olds review.......2007-09-08
I disagree with anyone who does not like the book. It does what a book is supposed to do. It keeps you intrigued. So what if you think it is unrealisitc, so was the notebook and No Place Like Home by Mary Higgins Clark. Books are supposed to stretch the imagination. personally I think all of the It Girl books are great. I just started reading Unforgettable, and I can't wait for Lucky to come out.
The author knows prep school like she does rocket science.......2007-07-22
Totally unrealistic. The author might know about the lives of the rich and famous, but she clearly knows nothing about attending an actual, realistic boarding school. Jenny Humphrey and her friends would all been have expelled by now.
A boarding school let an expelled girl, especially one who had been caught using drugs, back in? Wow. Ok. Stick to the gossip girl series, please.
wow.......2007-04-18
I started this book and was amazed at how the author could just put the f word anywhere like it was nothing! It had very strange and akward senerios like a girl making out with a teacher. I didn't finish the book but from what i read it was bad.
Notorious.......2006-12-20
I got immediately got addicted to the It Girl series when I was at a book store and randomly decided It Girl looked like a good book to read so I picked that one out and ended up falling in love with the series.
The book Notorious is one of the best books I have ever read, it's such a page turner you never want to stop reading it, I swear it's impossible. The main plot of the book is when a girl Tinsley Carmichael returns to Waverly Academy and elite boarding school after being expelled the semester before. Tinsley just happened to be best friends with her former roommates Brett and Callie. Jenny Humphrey then took Tinsley's spot and Waverly and ended up rooming in Dumbarton 303 with Brett and Callie. All this drama between the four girls and their secrets, lies, and just being teenage girls causes hatred.
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves drama and gossip but doesn't want to get involved in it in reality. When you read this book you can visualize everything and put yourself in their shoes and not worry about your real life. Teenage girls with LOVE this book!
Notorious: An It Girl Novel.......2006-12-14
The book that i read was "Notorious: An It Girl Novel". It is about when Tinsley Carmichael comes back to Waverly Academy after she got expelled the previous spring. But once she finds out that big-chested Jenny is getting all the attention now, its war. Jenny also shares a room with Brett and Callie who were Tinsley's roomates before she got expelled so now shes friends with them. But at the end of the book Tinsley and Callie get caught in Boston with (a boy named Heath Ferro) in Boston by the Dean of Waverly so they get split up. So when Brett's and Jenny's relationship is just getting better they get split up too because of Tinsley and Callie. So Brett and Tinsley have to share a room with eachother now and they are fighting, and Jenny and Callie have to share a room now and they are fighting because Callie says that Jenny stole Easy Walsh from her when they were broken up in the first place.
I enjoyed this genre because I enjoy reading realistic fiction and that's what this book was. It was a page-turner because it was really exciting so you didn't want to stop reading. I would like to read another book by this author because she is a really great author and I like her style of writing. I think that most girls like realistic fiction would like this book. This was one of the best books I ever read.

Amazing, interesting read!.......2007-08-06
Zoey Dean is back with her sixth book in the A- List series. In this book, it's Prom at the Beverly Hills High School and noone on the A- List goes, but when Sam hears about a film contest, and when Anna wants to go, she decides to go and make a video on the prom weenies b- listers. Also Anna gets jealous of a gorgeous junior staying at Ben's house for school, but she gets over it and she and her friends help for her prom. At Anna's prom everything goes a little too well and Sam decides not to release her film because she's to happy and was awarded prom queen. Cammie on the other hand a horrofying secret that her father had an affair with Sam's mother during the time of Cammie's mother's death. Zoey Dean is back with her probably best book so far in the series, leaving her fans dying to read the next book. I would definitely recommend this book and this series.
Awesome details.......2006-10-31
I love all of Zoey Deans books because she uses so much description and detail. It's amazing. This book is great because it has mystery and it also has some unexpected things in it. I love how Maddie didn't really like Ben. I really love these books.I also recommend these to teenage girls.
Loved It!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-08-11
This had to be the best A- List book. There was so much intriguy in it. It also was the longest A- List book. It was all set around prom and all the stress that goes into it. The new information that Cammie found out about her mother's death was scary, but it added a new twist. Also with Maddy and her crush on her math teacher. I have to admitt, It was kind of funny when Cammie found out that she burned down an LA landmark. I reccoamend this to everyone!
A-List #6: Some Like it Hot.......2006-07-13
Welcome to Beverly Hills High School Prom.
This was boring in the beginning, but once it picks up you can't put it down. So good... worth the read.
Dee is getting better and saner than ever.
Anna and Ben's relationship is threatened by a new guest in Ben's house.
Cammie and Adam are fighting because Adam found out a strange secret about her mother.
Sam misses Eduardo and wonders how she can compete with all the other beautiful European women that he's around every single day, becoming jealous over nonexistant people.
This book has some awesome twists and I really enjoyed it.
prom.......2006-06-16
It's that time of year... prom!!!
Anna and Ben are finally together, but will an attractive girl staying at the Birnbaum's mess with their relationship again?
Cammie and Adam are doing well, until Cammie finds out more about the night her mother died.
Sam is happy with where she's at with Eduardo, until he tells her that he won't be able to come to her prom... or can he?
Drama is abound once more in the juicy sixth book.

Took too long to get good.......2007-10-03
I'm in my 20's and ever since reading the Twilight series, I have become obsessed with trying to find something else just as good. (Very Hard)
'Blue Blood' took a longggg time to get good. Not until you are about half-way through the book, does it start to get interesting. The diary entries were a little confusing for me. There's alot of "name-throwing" (prada, paige, versace, etc.) Lots of just non-stop talking about popular/good-looking people and how they dress, where they party, etc. So at first I was really regretting buying the book.
But when I had about 100 pages left, it started getting pretty good; where now, I need to buy 'Masquerade'.
Not too bad just takes time to get good.
The Devil Wears Prada and Buffy's Love Child.......2007-10-03
This was sort of The Devil Wears Prada and Buffy's love child. As a sci-fi/fantasy fan, it was not the greatest. There are far better vampire novels out there. That said, there was something to the story that makes me want to find out more. To be honest, I was having a hard time stomaching the constant designer name drops. I get it... they are young, powerful, and dressed to kill. Do I need to know that she is wearing Chanel boots? Hell no. As for the history part, it was almost hard to take. I'll give De La Cruz some points for originality; however, to anyone who knows anything about history, its going to be difficult to read. I guess it is one way to get girls who like "chick lit" into fantasy. I really wouldn't recommend this book unless you are really a De La Cruz fan.
Good but not great...........2007-09-14
Blue Bloods in a story about a girl who learns she is the daughter of a vampire (who in this case are fallen angels inhabiting flesh bodies) and a human. The blue bloods (i.e. the vampires) live forever and recycle on earth being born each time with previous memories from their past life. They are part of an elite group of kids who attend a private school. They are concerned because there is something from the past trying to kill them off by draining all their blood (which is required to regenerate because it is the blood that contains the memories). That is the premise, sounds alright right? Well, if executed well it could have been a really fantastic idea but unfortunately the writing falls short with boring descriptions of clothes, generic and bland dialogs and characters that you just can't get into. It is fine for a quick read through once if you are bored but I don't recommend it if you are looking for an intense and original story.
Thoughts from a bookworm in Tacoma.......2007-09-11
I'll be the first to admit that I'm in no way qualified to define what a "good book" is. No one can claim that right. Everyone will have to decide for themselves whether De La Cruz's work is their style. All I know is the feeling I got from reading "Blue Bloods". It was not something I expected, and I can only describe it as isolation. I am a fairly average working class young woman. I've always liked books where there is at least one character who faces, even in a fantasy context, the same kinds of problems that I occasionally do (money troubles, cruel superiors etc.). I've never perceived obscenely rich people as having real problems. There is always money to cushion the blow, so that even if (for example) their child gets a horrible cancer the child will still be exponentially more likely to survive than the child on my economic level who gets the same illness, simply because the rich child will have parents who can afford the endless medical treatment and will never have to deal with insurance issues.
First of all, De La Cruz has created a race of vampires who are continuously reincarnated (rather like Tolkien's Elves), and who were originally fallen angels. Not only are her vampires not "made" by other vampires, but they were never human to begin with! That alone makes me feel a bit put off. Where's the fun in a vampire story if you can't imagine the risk of becoming a part of this vampire community yourself?
The second problem lies in the fact that all of her vampires come from Old Money American pedigrees (one of them is even revealed to be Miles Standish and the Archangel Michael all rolled up into one neat package). They are not merely "rich", they are "obscenely rich". As a working class girl, I will never be even remotely part of this world, and I have little desire to be. The habits of obscenely rich people are so alien to me that I find myself unable to relate to them. In fact, when you have a heroine in a story who is in a similar life situation to myself, the people that are like De La Cruz's vampires are usually her antagonists! I am doubly cut off from the world that De La Cruz has created by this fact. Now, I know that De La Cruz is a fashion expert and has written for many fashion mags. This seems to be why she goes out of her way to mention so much detailed fashion and pop-culture information. I've sometimes noticed this from writers who have successful non-writing careers. Robin Cook sometimes does the same thing with medical facts. I find this excessive pop-culture trivia distracting. I will never be able to afford these brand name clothes and so I don't know much about them and see no reason to find out. I don't see why De La Cruz needs to say that the character is wearing jeans by this designer and bought them at this specific boutique on this specific street in Manhattan. All she needs to say is the character is wearing expensive designer jeans and I'll get the picture. I have to admit, it sometimes sounds like she's showing off her knowledge as opposed to furthering the plot.
This is, I am more than willing to admit, a personal view and should in no way deter anyone from at least trying this writer out. I believe every writer should be experienced first hand before someone makes a judgement. And De La Cruz is a fairly good story teller. It's a credit to her skill that I actually wanted to find out how the story ended, otherwise I probably would've just abandoned the book in the middle. But my desire to find out the ending was strained by the time I got to the last chapters. I just wish that she had made her characters and her fictional world more accessable to the majority of the population. It really is a shame that I couldn't get over my feelings of being shut out and enjoy the story more.
Love it.......2007-09-09
This book was great. I just bought the 2nd one! I can't wait to read it!

The It Girl.......2007-01-06
The It Girl, a novel, by Cecily von Ziegesar unleashes a whole new kind of clique book which continues the life of the main character Jenny Humphrey who has gotten kicked out of her old school. She realizes that she should get a fresh start at her new school. She has figured out that Waverly is where all the preppy kids go, and in order to go there, she would have to fit in. Soon after Jenny arrives at her new school, she sees that her survival depends on a new Jenny instead of the old. Will she survive in this new school and make new friends?
I have never read a clique book this good with so much detail about the characters and their thoughts. The reader can really visualize what the characters look like and how they react to things from the author's detailed description. There are a lot of cliff hangers at the end of the chapters which makes the reader want to read more. I would recommend this book to teenagers that enjoy a realistic fiction dealing with relationships and drama of college life.

READ THIS BOOK!**the it girl**.......2006-12-20
If you like books that have gossip, romance, and drama, this is definitely the book for you. This is one of those books that you could keep reading over and over and not get tired of it. Once you get done with this book, it has books that keep the story going that you can consider reading also. This book keeps you interested the whole time and you never want to put it down. Once you start reading, the pages turn themselves and you get lost in time. Usually I don't like reading, but this book definitely changed my perspective on reading. Once I put the book down, I would always wonder what was going to happen next; which is what made me get threw it so fast. I read the book in three days because it kept me so interested. If I had the option of reading this book again I definitely would. Most books I wouldn't want to read again because I'm not as interested, but this book "The It Girl" is so easy to get attached to.
This book is great for girls, but I think boys would be interested in it too. The book connects to you and isn't like most books. It has major detail and you understand what is going on by all the drama. At first it was confusing because they change who's talking the whole time, like a movie, but then after a few chapters, it makes more since. If most books were like this, I would be reading all the time. I'm sure there are more books out there like this so I am going to have to keep my eyes open. I recommend this book to anyone who is like me, and doesn't like to read. Because somehow, this book gets you interested and you fall in love with it. I think its so easy to relate to because its kind of what our age group is going through, all the rumors, lies, and jealously. I think you should read this book.
great new chic lit.......2006-08-14
In Cecily von Ziegesar's new series, Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey leaves Manhattan to attend boarding school at the elite Waverly Academy in upstate New York. Jenny is determined to start completely over from who she was at Constance Billard, and create a new, cool, chic persona. Jenny knows she's up for a challenge when her new roomates are the best friends of the former Waverly Academy It Girl, but she's up for it. Nothing can deter her from her path to being elevated to It Girl status. Not her roomates, not the Disciplinary Committe, nothing. This book gives insight into a new side of Jenny Gossip Girl readers had not been previously privy to, and serves up a whole new set of scandals, intrigue, and gossip. Fans of Gossip Girl will love this new read, but it is not neccessary to have read it to enjoy The It Girl.
'The It Girl' is, without a doubt, the must-have accessory of the season.......2006-08-09
Sophomore Jenny Humphrey is finally vacating the city, as well as the illustrious Constance Billard, and heading to the countryside to attend the prestigious Waverly Academy. While it may just be a stone's throw away from the bright lights of Times Square, Jenny knows that it's a place where she can finally reinvent herself, and create a name she feels is worthy. A place where she can become...an It Girl. As soon as she arrives on campus, everything feels different, from the horsey smells, to the lone owls flying around, Jenny feels as if she has arrived, and intends on embracing the goddess she truly is. Now all she needs is a proper boy toy to worship her. But when Jenny encounters her two uber-rich, self-absorbed roommates - Callie Vernon and Brett Messerschmidt - Jenny begins having second thoughts. After all, those two are only ready to lend a helping hand if something's in it for them. And increasing Jenny's popularity doesn't likely hold a very high place on their to-do list. Surrounded by gorgeous girls, and even more gorgeous guys, Jenny knows that she's in the right place, now she just has to find the ability to stay there. And, if taking the fall for someone else, getting caught with "off-limit" boys in "off-limit" areas, and going up against the Disciplinary Committee all in the first week of classes is what it takes, then Jenny's all for it. After all, there's nothing that she wouldn't do to become...an It Girl.
I will admit that I only read the first three GOSSIP GIRL novels before stumbling upon THE IT GIRL series, but I can honestly say that this has got to be one of the juiciest, most riveting spin-offs I've ever laid my hands on. Cecily von Ziegesar has finally made little Jenny Humphrey the star of her own series, and has added handfuls of other memorable characters to accompany her on her many, often risque, excursions. Jenny, as in the GOSSIP GIRLS series, continues on her way of adorableness laced with a "Lolita"-esque personality that drives the guys wild; while the possibly eating disorder plagued Callie; and teacher-loving Brett add even more scandalous-ness to the mix. Throw in a few cute guys - the rugged bad-boy, Easy; the metro, caring ex-boyfriend, Brandon; the playboy Heath; and various others, and you've got yourself an irresistible combination. Ziegesar has created another unstoppable, drool-worthy series that is impossible to put down. THE IT GIRL is, without a doubt, the must-have accessory of the season.
