I bought this book along with another of Melody's. I think she is a very caring and understanding person and this book gives me daily readings to keep up my spirits and know that I am not alone and I can fix my own problems. I wasn't expecting a daily devotional type of book, but I am so glad now that I have it. They say one day at a time.. and right now that's what I'm giving.

This is truly the most encouraging book that I have ever read. I spent six months in the hospital and a friend gave this book to me and I have gone through it five times now. Everytime I read a passage it is just what I need at the time. This is my favorite book to give away...I order ten at a time. My favorite devotional ever.......2007-09-08

Jesus Calling After reading one entry in someone else's copy, I immediately went home and ordered my own copy. Since then I have given over 25 copies of this fantastic little book away. I like to keep extra copies on hand for that special person that I know could use it in their life. It is written for the reader as if Christ is speaking to that person directly. It never fails to comfort me and give me a desire to practice His presense and to experience total dependence on Him. I can't recommend this fabulous, inspired book enough.

I thought this book was very good. It has a list of things that I never thought of and the worksheets are great. The only thing that would have been an added bonus was a place to keep documents within the book. However, for first time brides as myself this book was much needed.

My Favorite Wedding Helper!.......2007-07-31

While this book wasn't the "end all" to planning my wedding, it gave a great basic overview that helped me not to forget things. It is full of wonderful worksheets that proved more helpful than I realized at the time; without them I wouldn't have been able to remain on budget. I really recomend it, because it helps you know what percentage of your budget you should spend on different parts of your wedding (for example, if you have a budget of $15,000, and flowers should be 5% of your budget, then you know that you can plan to spend $750 on flowers and still be in budget.) They even broke it down further so that you knew what expenses fell into the "flower" category (alter flowers, boquets, corsages, decorative flowers for the reception hall, etc.) I loved it!

How To Decide.......2007-03-08

"The Call," by, Os Guinness, is another one of those books which offers help to people seeking meaning and purpose to their lives. It's a fairly literate survey of historical figures caught in the same position trying to answer the question, "who am I, and what shall I do with the life I have?" For all his meandering through biographical examples, Guinness provides, at the end of each chapter, one simple solution, "Listen to Jesus of Nazareth; answer his call." While that advice is invaluable, it is neither particularly startling nor creatively insightful. Os's writing is ploddingly pedestrian--more like a survey of history textbook than a compelling, engaging book to lead one out of a wilderness of confusion into clarity of thought and earnestness of purpose. Skip the chapters and employ the recipe. There really is no shortcut, and reading about "how-to" is no substitute for doing: "Listen to Jesus of Nazareth; answer His call!"

A Deeper understanding of purpose.......2007-01-09

After reading other books on purpose, and wanting to learn more about God's calling for my life, I read this book together with a friend, and found the experience quite educational, spiritually enlightening, and at times surprising.
The distinction between the Corporate Calling, and the Specific Calling is a great help in understanding our purpose and how it relates to our profession.
Additionally, the myths of the Catholic churches, and Protestant churches are explored, and help to explain the dissatisfaction in "Religion" that seems to be growing in the world.
Many references to historic figures, and biblical figures make this a great read. Probably not appropriate for a seeker, but all believers should enjoy this book.

This is one of the best Christian books I've read in the past 20 years. I'm afraid to say that I thought it might be boring based on the title. The concept of calling did not at first glance seem to be to be a very exciting theological topic. I'm happy to say that I was wrong. This is a very powerfully written book.

This is a great book for either a daily devotion for personal use or as material for a men's study group. For either use it gives you considerable material for thought and prayer in directing your life to Christ. As a group study using the study guide included in the back of the book as started questions, you can develop great men's ministry sessions that holds the attention of the men.

I don't think we as human beings actually recognize the power of daily reading, meditation, and reflecting. Practicing these powerful principles allows us to remain mindful of the moment and reflect upon the deeper question in our lives. To devote ourself to a daily meditation and to journal on these quiet times is priceless and will certainly aid in the evolution of our soul. For me this practice has allowed an awakening to take place and opens my life up to all the opportunities that are available in this universe. Please give this practice a try! AA. "More Language of Letting Go" continued me on my path to
getting in touch w/my feelings. There's no index, but you
will find it comical how you do read the book. I highly
recommend Beattie's "Journey to the Heart" as a follow-up to
this one!
By reading these 3 books, I know more what I want and can name
the things I want. Before I couldn't.
Beattie pegs it beautifully, when no one else can.

This is a WONDERFUL daily reading! I read it through last year and am starting over this year. There are some passages that just jump out and smack you in the head because they relate to what you are going throught at the exact time you read it.

Comprehensive but not in depth.......2007-03-09

This is a nice book for people who have the basic idea of ASP.NET. This Book covers almost all topics for .Net2.0 . It is a very good reference book for newbie.
Unfortunately, this book isn't in-depth for lots of topics, basically it just introduces most common cases, and you probably can't find what you want for some topics. (Eg implement Sorting and Pagation for ObjectDataSource, Crystal Report, memory management, ADO.NET in depth, .Net Virtual Machine etc). The source code is another down side for this book. Most of the code doesn't run, also the connection string wasn't right at the first place, I have to spend hours and hours to get it right.
In conclusion, it worth to buy, if you just want learn asp.net in a fast way. It will give you the solution for most tasks. Pretty good reference book.

Great ASP.NET 2.0 Reference.......2007-01-22

This is a great ASP.NET 2.0 reference book. It is absolutely packed with information covering all areas of the product. The book is also somewhat unique in that all code snippets are provided in both VB and C#, making it useful to all developers.

The authors are fantastic technical experts and speakers on .NET and ASP.NET. I think you can learn a lot from this book.

Encyclopedia of ASP.NET.......2007-01-21

Wrox is a great publisher of quick and massive volumes with multiple authors. I'm a teacher and look for good values that combine clear technical information and a broad range for a low cost. This is a good choice if you have experience with ASP.NET, know your web architecture (query strings, cookies, sessions, etc.), and don't want an extended tutorial. The reasoning for why you use these things wasn't clear but the details on how to use them exceeded most of the current fare which is why I chose to teach from the text recently. The quantity of code that was provided in VB and C# was excellent but the topics were out of order for classroom use. For the ASP.NET beginner, I feel it needs to be supplemented with a more tutorial based text and then this makes an excellent companion volume.

A Professional Level Book in Every Way.......2006-10-25

This is a monumental book. Almost sixteen hundred pages of hi-tech stuff. It is not for the faint of heart. It is intended for people who have at least a general understanding of how the web works with particular attention as to how a database driven web site is set up and works. Knowledge and experience with earlier versions of ASP (Active Server Pages) would be very helpful, but so would experience using other technologies such as Cold Fusion, PHP, or Java. Such knowledge is to provide you with the concepts of doing a dynamic web page consisting of a framework or template with the actual data being displayed coming from a database.

The book builds on this basic understanding to start with a very simple page and go on to much more complex tasks such as the building XML web services. Along the way every aspect of ASP.NET 2.0 is discussed.

ASP.NET 2.0 is the second major release of ASP.NET, Microsoft's main concept for programming dynamic web pages. The focus of the new release is on productivity. A major goal of the development team was to reduce the number of lines of code needed to program a page by two thirds. On the whole they suceeded.

In addition, the book contains two CD-ROMs. One is a 180 day trial version of Visual Studio 2005. The other has about a thousand pages from about 15 other WROX books that you may find helpful in looking up background information. The book is in reference format rather than tutorial. It will be very helpful for quite a long time.

This organizer is good at reminding me all the tasks I need to accomplish prior to my baby's arrival. I also love the registry items list. This is my first time as a mom and I admit, I'm a bit clueless of all the things I need. This book helps me identify the most essential items that I will need.

This is a great pregnancy planner/ journal. This is my first baby and I find the different sections about important questions to ask everyone from your doctor, insurance company, pediatrician, childcare all very helpful for a first time mom. The areas to record info from your doctor visits is great, too. I also like the section about what you absolutely need for your new baby and the "extras". Good little planner and I definitely like that the cover is very neutral and mod looking-- not all frilly. I do wish there were pockets on the front and back inside covers, but it's still a great planner!!!

There is a ton of info you can record to organize now and even keep later as a momento. My only complaint: It has one clear page to store things. I wish it had flap pockets on the front and back cover or more than one clear page to store more items if you wish, such as sonogram pictures or other pictures. Otherwise, it is a fantastic organizer/planner!
