Customer Reviews:
Health Behavior & Health Education, a good buy.......2007-09-30
Good book for a class on Health Behavior and Health Education Theories. Good for graduate level work. Theories broken into chapters. Each chapter has the theory history, significant time line for the theory, chart and descriptions of the constructs, and examples where research has used the theory effectively. Examples in book make use of the theory more understandable.
Excellent Reference Book.......2007-08-27
I purchased this book to use as a reference for a Graduate Project on Health Promotion. I was particularly interested in Planning Models so most of my research focused on Part 5 in the book
Excellent Book-I highly recommend it

very useful book.......2007-02-11
This book is very useful to anyone involved in the public health field for research or developing interventions to address any health behavior with any group. I'm glad I purchased it. I highly recommend it as a valuable resource.
Not a very appealing text.......2006-04-19
Chapters are disjoint at times, with no reference to similar concepts between them. Almost as if they were all written separately without any editing to tie them all together.
Information is presented in something less than an interesting manner - it's pretty dry!
Health Behavior and Health Education.......2005-10-03
This book is a must have for anyone in the health education field. It presents all major health behavior theories in a clear and understandable manner, applies theories to case studies at the end of each chapter, and offers a table summary of each theory's core constructs. The book is well written and with this third edition comes more updated research information.

Excellent Reference.......2001-02-07
I really took to this book when I was assigned to read it for my new job in pediatric clinic. It has many tools you can use to create your own triage guidelines. The tools apply to a nurse serving any population, from pediatrics to adults, occupational health to obstetrics. I found the writing to be concise and to the point. Nurse managers and educators, you should definitely consider this book for your telephone triage orientation program. I work for a military installation and I have to tell you as an insider that a practically congressional committee considered all the triage theory books there were, and chose this ONE. I can see why.
Excellent overview of one of the newest fields in nursing........1998-08-06
As an educator, it is important to provide historical information on a new subject, along with clear scenarios and critiques. This book allows a nurse, new to the field of telephone triage to understand the relationship of the nurse to patient, elicit the most informative information, and how to categorize information appropriately. The book provides the basis for telephone triage, no matter what the local requirements or conditions. I have used this boook for over 2 years in education of nurses to telphone triage and recommend that it belong as a resource in every call-center!
Excellent book on telephone triage. Highly recommended........1995-10-16
This textbook has become a standard reference at triage
call centers across the U.S. A *must* read for either
the new triage nurse or an experienced one.
Book Description
This important course provides a comprehensive basic introduction to teaching languages, for use in pre-service or early experience settings. It can be used by groups of teachers working with a trainer, or as a self-study resource. The Trainee's Book provides all the tasks given in the main book but without background information, bibliographies, notes or solutions. It is suitable for those studying on a trainer-led course, where feedback is readily available.
Customer Reviews:
Not very useful.......2005-03-07
I used this coursebook during a TEFL course recently. I found Penny Ur's manual extremely disappointing. The chapters offer very little constructive information regarding the theory of language teaching. Ur's standard format is to list a few one line opinions on a subject and invite the reader to list the theories in order of usefulness or importance. Clearly the book is intended to facilitate group discussion and be used in conjunction with the teachers' manual which provides more concrete answers. However the manual itself does not provide much meaningful information regarding language teaching theory and when it came to applying the methods in my own teaching or writing papers on the subject, I frequently had to look at othe resources.
Bad, very bad........2003-05-01
Do whatever you can to find a text that more clearly explains the theories and theories in practice of language teaching. I am currently using as a textbook in an introductory Teaching ESL course. We read out of it, but most of the material is omitted, corrected or adjusted by our instructor.
A terrific (not confusing) introduction to language teaching.......1999-11-10
In this book, Penny Ur has created an indispensable reference on language teaching. This book covers everything from classroom management to testing to presenting vocabulary. Every section is clearly written and easy to put into practice. There is also a list of references for each chapter, for those who want to explore a topic in greater detail. If you were to buy just one book on language teaching, I would make it this one!
A very confused author.......1999-11-07
In the introduction of the book, Ur dedicated a section on the difference between "practice" and "theory", and why the subtitle of the book is "practice and theory", rather than the more conventional "theory and Practice".
However, only in Introduction, I found two places where Ur used "theory and practice", and "theories and practices". What a confused and confusing author!
I wonder if anybody can learn anything out of the book of such confused author.

Customer Reviews:
Buddhist theme presents ethical dilema for Judea-Christian Belief System.......2007-09-09
The kaleidoscope descipture for this text should include a content warning. The author is really highlighting her doctornal thesis on Buddhist influences on Aristoles work and Nursing. This is presented but not critiqued for it's place in the Judea-Christian Belief System prevalent in Western Civilizaton.
Nursing Ethics - Good Book.......2005-08-25
After reading this book in my nursing practice issues class I learned a lot about ethics in nursing. Being a nursing student, I can use this valuable information in my clinicals and when I start working in the hospital. The ethical concerns are discussed comprehensively. Nurses need to read this book. Very good book, read it.
