I bought this for my six year old son who has difficulty handling frustration, and sometimes has a hard time getting to sleep. He absolutely LOVES the stories on the cd, the only problem is there are only two stories. The rest of the cd talks about ways to cope with negative feelings, which were mentioned in the previous stories, and then there are a few tracks of music. My son ends up listening to only 1/4 of the cd. The stories are entertaining, but he's missing out on learning the strategies. What should have been done was to incorporate more of the instruction of the coping strategies within the body of the stories. I may eventually buy the other cd's because the stories help to keep him in bed and feeling content, but I cringe at the idea of paying money, to then use only a portion of what I paid for.

I originally bought for my daughter who has some anxiety and anger issues.After listening to the CD she was practicing some of the techniques and understanding their values, I listened to the CD myself this morning and I can see why she was so positive about it! Also there is the "Light Shield" technique in which children learn to imagine an inner light shield to protect themselves from external situations where others may be making them uncomfortable emotionally. This has also help her to deal with 2 deaths close to her in our family!

My eleven year old son's ADHD Doctor recommended Lori Lite's relaxation techniques to help my son relax so he could sleep. I purchased the book A Boy and A Bear as well as the Indigo Dreams: Relaxation and Stress Management Bedtime Stories and Indigo Dreams: Garden of Wellness Stories and Techniques Designed to Decrease Bullying, Anger, Anxiety & Obesity, While Promoting Self-esteem & Healthy... CDs. Of the three products I purchased the Garden of Wellness is the CD my son picks to listen to every night. It is his favorite.
Many nights my son would still be awake at midnight distraught that he could not get to sleep, because he was unable to quiet his mind and body. The last two weeks I have seen a change in my son for the positive. He has yet to hear the end of the CD because he is asleep before the CD ends. His anger has diminished; his dread of going to school has diminished; his self-consciousness of being different has also diminished. The Garden of Wellness CD has truly helped my son on many levels of his life and I am truly grateful to Lori Lite.
I must also add the CDs have been very beneficial for me also and the children I work with on a daily bases. The two CDs and the book have helped all our lives become much more peaceful!

My 8 year old daughter loves the story entitled The Perfect Club and the bubble blowing practice session on this CD. . She said it helps her go to sleep and not be scared when she wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. She says that it takes away all her bad dreams. She also feels relaxed and safe while listening to the music soundtrack. We have been using the original Indigo Dreams CD for years. My daughter treats it like gold. She exercises much caution so as not to scratch it when using her CD player for other things during the day! We are thrilled to add this CD to our collection. I can't wait til Lite Books makes other products. My daughters days were literally happier 4 years ago after ordering the first CD. I don't know if it is b/c she got more sleep or more relaxed sleep b/c the stories have coping strategies to practice and I leave it on repeat so that it plays all night long. I realized that I love things like "the Secret" a best seller right now so why not something like this for kids and it is here thru Lite Books. [...]

My 9 year old daughter has a difficult time with seperating from us and with transitions. Bedtime can be a trying time as she gets overtired, but wound up at the same time. We started listening to the first cd about two years ago and quickly added Ocean of Dreams (which was her favorite). I just bought Garden of Wellness and she was so happy! I prefer the voice on Ocean of Dreams (and my husband makes fun of all of the CD's), but since they work for my daughter, who cares what we think?! She willing turns out the light and lies down and when we peek in she is sound asleep. She had problems being bullied last year, so we are interested in seeing if this is helpful. She is very thin, so I hope the message about eating healthy food and staying fit will be the right one since she does not need to lose weight. She is asking me for the teen one now, too.

My doctor recommended this book for me and I found it very helpful. The chapter on nutrition is lacking in my opinion (see Superfoods RX by Pratt.)I like the fact that there are many practical applications that are not "so far out there" that someone who is not into Eastern healing can still gain much from it.

I first used this book 10 years ago and was able to establish some healthful living goals and actions for myself that improved my physical conditioning immensely. I continue to use it today. What I really like about this book is that it enables each reader to really focus in on their individual lifestyles, needs, and habits and develop specific, realistic, and individualized action plans for improved and healthful living. The improved physical condition that I realized as a result of focusing on a plan and actions enabled me to climb mountains in the Sierra Nevada. I have also used techniques in this book to successfully address anxiety. This week I pulled the book off of my shelf and am going at it again. I am having fun with this exercise because I can compare my "10 loves" from 10 years ago to my "10 loves" of today and put a plan in place to realize them. Many thanks to the authors for such insightful and all emcompassing work. This book is as useful and current today as it was the day it was written.

I am a Master's Level clinician working on my doctorate in clinical psychology. This book is not as great as its 1985 predecessor. In that previous edition, there were more relaxation scripts that were excellent to use personally and with clients/patients. This edition acts more like a reference book as well as an advertisement for the author's website (which incidentally did not have much on it that was helpful for me). I did like some of the suggestions regarding the use of technology and how it can cause stress or reduce it by the way it is used.

First of all, this book is very reader-friendly. It doesn't torture you with medical wicky wacky jargons. At the same time, the author doesn't treat you like a baby. He gives it to you straight and clear.

The book talks about different types of relaxation techniques to unnerve your mind and body, gives the descriptions of major stressors in lives and how to handle them, etc...

This book is great read and actually practicing the skills that the author describes make it even better.

This is a superb and, as the book's subtitle implies, a comprehensive compendium of stress management tools and information. I have been using this book since the mid-80's, both to benefit me personally as well as to use as a basis for inservices I have provided for the staff I have supervised in a stressful hospital environment. It is quite logical in its format, proceeding from the tertiary to the secondary to the primary levels of prevention, in that order. It first shows the reader how to cope with sources of stress when they occur, first by regulating our physiological, then our cognitive responses to stressful events; this is the tertiary level. It then shows us how to take some control over our environment in order to lessen the frequency of stressful events occuring; this is the secondary level. Finally, it presents some ideas for general well-being, which could be called the primary level of prevention. It as much as says that if our minds and bodies are in the right place, then nothing will faze us. Overall a superb book that I cannot recommend too highly.

5 out of 5 stars Was a skeptic. -The key word there is WAS........2007-02-26

Wonderful set! This was recommended to me by an acupuncturist, who explained to me the very powerful mind-body calming and healing effects of guided imagery and Belleruth Naparstek's work in particular (both of which I knew nothing!). I was really skeptical (and so was my husband). But we both listen to these together at night before we go to sleep, and we never seem to make it past 10 minutes into it. I've been told it's perfectly fine to sleep through them (they work anyway - the words and images are supposed to be even more powerful when falling asleep). In fact, Naparstek advises NOT to listen while driving. It does actually seem to be working - I now fall asleep faster and STAY asleep through the night (unheard of before buying this set!). I wake feeling refreshed, renewed, healthier, and indeed...more "balanced". To the reviewer that thinks her voice drones on...my husband made that same comment when we first started listening to the first one, but having used these for a while now, it's very evident that if her voice was filled with inflection, we wouldn't be lulled into such calm, deep relaxation...and remain there. I'm not listening to these to hear some sappy-sweet, sing-song cheerleader type voice. I'm listening to them to do exactly what they're doing! Great set.

Initially upon first trial I was only moderately satisified with the guided meditations employed in this inclusive package. With continued and regular usage, however, I've begun to experience a restful deepening that provides refreshment even when I'm unable to sleep (which is frequently). One of the CD's is actually tailored for persons with sleep disorders, and I've used it a couple of times with success, but my focus has been on stress and general wellness and so have used those CD's more frequently. Repeat listening on a regular scheduled basis really is the only way to get the most out of this material so I've had to avoid getting off track in trying to use all of them in the same period of days and weeks. Bella Naperstak's voice is calm, authoritative, and restful allowing one to let go. I think that I'd still prefer more poetic images than she tends to use but then she does perhaps allow for a greater range of imagination by not being overly detailed in her descriptive language. Overall this set is an excellent buy and a solid introduction to Bella's approach to Guided Imagery.

Save your money. While the first few minutes of listening may be relaxing, after a while, Belleruth's voice begins to drone on and on and becomes annoying. It has not proven to be at all helpful or therapuetic. I would recommend a good book on related issues or a walk in the park with a friend instead.

I purchased this set after listening to Belleruth Naparstek's Meditation to Ease Grief after the death of my brother. It was well worth the investment both financially and mentally. They have gotten me through some very rough times. I also enjoy the walking meditation for those times when I need to get a break from everything and need focus on myself. I would recommend this set.

I've bought this set about 6 months ago and have been listening to it regularly, with the Meditations for Anxiety-Release a permanent staple in my main CD player and the Meditations for General Wellbeing in my Discman as the main staple CD. The results have been considerable, with an increase of peace, focus, mental-clarity, and a sense of stability and self-confidence. Listening and following along with the Anxiety-Release meditation helps to build courage to face each new day's challenges, as such it also improved my health and relationships with people. However as with all types of meditative aids, you will need patience to see the results but the results will become addictive.

Belleruth's voice is soothing. The imageries are fresh. The pace is excellent to induce calmness. The music is a wonderful backdrop that strimulates your imagination and soothes you at the same time.
