Book Description
Evidence-Based Technical Analysis examines how you can apply the scientific method, and recently developed statistical tests, to determine the true effectiveness of technical trading signals. Throughout the book, expert David Aronson provides you with comprehensive coverage of this new methodology, which is specifically designed for evaluating the performance of rules/signals that are discovered by data mining.
Customer Reviews:
Fantastic!.......2007-09-26
Just wanted to add to the praise of this book. If you're not following the backtesting practice of this book then you're playing slots with your trading (hey, maybe you'll get lucky!!). Some of the material is tough going and will require a second reading, but it'll be worth it. As another reviewer said about this being a kind of in-depth follow on to "Fooled by Randomness", I couldn't agree more. As matter of fact it's what I read just prior, so I couldn't help smiling as I went through this book, because he was putting the meat on the plate that Nassim set! Thank you, thank you..
The previous reviewer (Useless..) that gave it one star clearly did not get the concepts of the book. Did he even read it? That review does not compute. The *only* negative I would say is that if you're just looking for how to do robust backtesting, then the extensive material on the scientific method might be a bit much (but you can always read lightly those sections). But I understand why he put it in there, since it's the entire premise of taking a different and more rigorous approach to TA.
Now back to re-reading Chapter 6... Thank you Mr. Aronson!
Useless.......2007-08-29
I found this book useless..a total waste of time and money.Instead of analyzing the results obtained by using the various technical indicators, the author simply trashes their use,and does so in a preverse use of mathematical formulas, from which the reader gains nothing.I truly felt like my money was taken, for the purchase of the book, under false pretenses.
Make backtesting meaningful.......2007-08-24
Most trading books are pseudoscience or entertaining reminiscences of successful traders. Aronson has done an admirable job of applying the requisite rigor to the many difficulties associated with analyzing the results of historical backtesting.
Best for professional, intellectual and philosophical trading system developers.......2007-08-08
I had thought of using another review title "For fans and followers of Victor Niederhoffer" as inspired by his praise on the front cover. Pardon me to assume the following: if you had not heard of Niederhoffer, the chance is high that you have no prior experience/idea of testing the statistical significance of various TA tools, nor dwelling into the philosophical/scientific aspects of TA at all. Please accept the fact that this book is not for you. For trading professionals who deem themselves philosophical and intellectual (preferably with a college level of knowledge on statistics), this book is an inspiration. Highly recommended!
A must-have for TA practitioners.......2007-08-01
This book shakes some of your most deep beliefs in TA - and this is a healthy thing. Read it with an open mind.
Book Description
What makes a person confess to a crime he did not commit? Was he coerced? Is he trying to protect someone else? Interrogation has come under attack as opponents focus on false confessions. However, most cases are still resolved by confession, not forensic evidence. Written by two experts who have conducted over 15,000 interviews and interrogations from theft to homicide, this book expands on the valuable topics in the previous edition to include discussions of: Telephone interviewing False Confessions Field Interviewing Sexual Harassment Interviewing Confronting the Alleged Harrasser Pre-employment Interviewing New Legal Aspects Frequently Asked Questions Covering the entire sequence of events that occur during the interview and interrogation process, this book provides a realistic building block approach that allows you to move from a preliminary accusation to an ultimate confession by applying practical rules to the process. It gives you the flexibility to select a number of different paths to proceed in an interrogation of a suspect. Useful in both the law enforcement and private sectors, Practical Aspects of Interview and Interrogation, Second Edition allows you to deal effectively with the complex problems of interviewing and interrogating victims, witnesses, suspects, and even potential employees.

Practical Aspects of Interview and Interrogation.......2007-03-09
I found this book to be very informative. A big part of my job is interview and interrogation. This book was able to put into context what I have already been doing for a number of years. I found that I was referencing the book in my head as I watched the people I was speaking with and knew by their actions how truthful or untruthful they were being. If this is the type of work you do the book is a very good read.
Excellent.......2003-04-12
I went to the Wicklander seminar recently. The book was just as great as the class, I'm very fortunate to have been able to go and receive the book. Thanks!
Excellent Reference.......2001-12-08
This is an excellent referecne book for anyone involved in both private and public sector interviews.
A great book for any investigator.......2001-05-03
This was a very informative book. I highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with interviews and interrogations.
A must have!.......2000-06-24
This is a great resource. If this isn't on your shelf, it should be.
Book Description
There are many ways that a potential attacker can intercept information, or learn more about the sender, as the information travels over a network. Silence on the Wire uncovers these silent attacks so that system administrators can defend against them, as well as better understand and monitor their systems.
Silence on the Wire dissects several unique and fascinating security and privacy problems associated with the technologies and protocols used in everyday computing, and shows how to use this knowledge to learn more about others or to better defend systems. By taking an indepth look at modern computing, from hardware on up, the book helps the system administrator to better understand security issues, and to approach networking from a new, more creative perspective. The sys admin can apply this knowledge to network monitoring, policy enforcement, evidence analysis, IDS, honeypots, firewalls, and forensics.
Customer Reviews:
Light Face of the Dark Side.......2007-07-16
The Global Network is not a battle ground. It is a play ground.
This book although it covers security issues is great insight into the mentality that the security geeks can have. For them the security of platforms and networks are faulted and the hackers task is to disclose that.
A Wonderful Treatment of Network Security.......2007-06-12
At a conference I was at some time ago, a fellow mentioned to me that one person he would probably not want to play poker with is Michal Zalewski. I didn't really get his statement at the time, but after reading this book, I can now wholeheartedly understand his reluctance.
Although only 260 pages long, Michal's book covers an incredibly wide range of topics, pinpointing numerous areas in which incredible amounts of information about you and your computer are available, even though it may not seem that way at first blush. From the keyboard, to the processor, to the operating system, to the network wire, Michal points out the many holes from which this information is leaking from. His writing style gives rise to an entertaining narrative where a high-level picture makes the main concept available to everyone, while at the same time providing citations in the footnotes that let you delve into the details at a later point.
Silence on the Wire impressed me in so many ways that it's difficult to list them all here. Michal's understanding of so many areas in computer security is simply astounding. He covers each topic in just enough detail, not bogging down the reader in lots of technical jargon, but also not doing an inordinate amount of 'hand-waving'. His movement through the various components of the computer and the network is very well done; it ties together in a nice progression that the reader can follow easily.
I enjoyed the a nice selection of papers Michal discusses in which many ingenious attacks were described (timing attacks on RSA, SSH password recovery through timing analysis, TEMPEST, etc.). But one thing that truly stood out in this book is Michal's own contribution, which includes his work with p0f, the analysis of various ISN generators, and his work on identifying various web browsers through timing analysis. I was just amazed at how easily Michal pulled these 'fingerprints' out of seemingly random and/or innocuous data sets.
I had actually read about much of the work that Silence on the Wire covers beforehand, but in spite of that I learned a great deal from this book, and I know that many others can too. If you only read one book on network security, make it this one!
super.......2007-03-08
Thanks a lot, we are very happy to have this book in our library!
New look at the (in)security of networked computers.......2007-01-13
I am a student studying information security and I've read many books lately on the subject. Silence on the Wire is truly a unique book, and a nice change from the conventional reading material. Michal is a known expert in his field, and you can find many of his works and research in a simple search. His book focuses on the basic, yet most overlooked computer and network designs that can be attacked. In Silence on the Wire, Michal takes us on a long, treacherous journey of a packet, from when the data is first entered to its final destination. Along the way, we look at flaws in the design of computers and networks and how they are eventually exploited.
I held off reading this book all summer, after trying to read through the second chapter and finally getting frustrated with it. Chapter two is the book's downfall, as it spends entirely too much time getting to "the point" (as Richard Bejtlich puts it). Michal's explanations here were too confusing and will lose almost any reader. I think the section on the Turing Machine can be skipped over, unless you slow down and take notes and draw yourself diagrams of the information. Only then, will you probably understand what it's getting at. I'm happy to say though, reading the rest of the book was fairly easy; anybody with a background in network computing and security will be able to follow along.
Silence on the Wire is a fascinating read and I definitely recommend it to anybody who is interested or responsible for information security. Michal hopes his book will give you a new perspective on security and explore the relationships and interactions between components. I am glad I got to read this book and hope one day to contribute my own research to the topic.
Something to have in mind.......2006-11-10
Maybe not all of the possible threats described are real today, but one really get a glimpse into a world where the major objective is to exploit possibilities not intended to be there. People populating this world think differently than the rest of us, and an explanation of how they think is both scary and enlightening. Michal Zalewski walks us through various scenarios in an easy to understand and an often humorous way.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Medicolegal investigation of death is the most crucial and significant function of the medical examiner within the criminal justice system. The medical examiner is primarily concerned with violent, sudden, unexpected, and suspicious deaths and is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death, identifying the deceased, determining the approximate time of death and injury, collecting evidence from the body, issuing the death certificate, and documenting these events through an official autopsy report. The basis of the medicolegal investigation is forensic pathology. Written for both medical and investigative professionals, Forensic Pathology, Second Edition presents an overview of medicolegal investigative systems. Completely updated, the book examines investigative techniques and procedures that lead to obtaining accurate conclusions of death by homicide, accident, or suicide.

This book gives one a strong foundation, and the photographs are an excellent source of information, of which to look at after reading the descriptions.
The second edition is a definite improvment over the first. If you are looking for a chapter on gunshot wounds, it is not here. However, DiMaio has written the standard on evaluating gunshot wounds: Gunshot Wounds: Practical Aspects of Firearms, Ballistics, and Forensic Techniques.
??No gunshots??.......2005-10-03
This seems to be pretty good, comprehensive, and easy-to-read text on forensic pathology... but there is *nothing* at all on gunshot wounds... not even basic guidelines on entrance and exit identification. You have to buy his separate text on gunshot wounds to get anything on the subject. This book is cheaper than Spitz and Fisher, but when you find that there is nothing on gunshots, the price advantage is lost.
Received Fast and in Good Condition.......2005-09-22
I received this book in a very timely manner and was happy with the book that I ordered. I would order from this seller again.

Book Description
Criminal Profiling is a unique work centered on the deductive profiling method developed by the author and motivated by the limited knowledge available regarding the criminal profiling process. Deductive profiling is different from other forms of profiling in that it focuses on criminal profiling as an investigative process, solving real crime through an honest understanding of the nature and behavior of criminals. It approaches each criminal incident as its own universe of behaviors and relationships. Throughout the text, the author illustrates and emphasizes the most crucial tenet that any good criminal profiler should adhere to: the enthusiastic desire to investigate and examine the facts.
This Second Edition contains the same core knowledge that made the first edition a best-seller while introducing a wealth of new material. This expanded and thoroughly revised edition includes a completely new set of case studies including the Sam Sheppard trial. New chapters include expanded coverage on false reports, psychological autopsies, criminal profiling in court, stalking, domestic homicide, sexual asphyxia, and staged crime scenes.
Contributors include: John J. Baeza, Eoghan Casey, W. Jerry Chisum, Dana S. La Fon, Michael McGrath, Wayne Petherick.
A unique approach - centred on the author's Deductive Profiling method
The work addresses related issues, such as ethics, clinical perspectives and the essential role of the task force
Written in a style accessible to a wide audience - from the detective performing hands-on casework to the academic in the classroom
Ideal text for courses on criminal profiling or investigative strategy in serial crime and as a supplement to courses involving criminology, arson, stalking, sex crimes or death investigation.
Customer Reviews:
Do not buy this book.......2007-09-24
This book is awful I can't beleave I spent money on it. Brent Turvey must have been turned down for a FBI's BSU for a job. Now he spends his time writing books that make people dUmbEr and slaming some of the best Profilers in the world. Do yourself a favor and save your money and I'll tag it under juck.
Decent criminal justice book.......2007-05-06
No, it's not a perfect book on the subject but so does other books. I think this is still a must-read, but not the only reading material, for anyone interested in the criminal justice field.
Heed FBI warnings: Turvey exploits niave wannabe profilers.......2007-01-21
Please do not buy this book. Mr. Turvey's flawed logic regarding "inductive" and "deductive" profiling is flat out incorrect. He is jealous of the likes of Gregg McCrary, Robert Ressler, and John Douglas (individuals who have actually solved crimes), and his "textbook" is a weak attempt to discredit and insult the FBI. The tragic part of what this man has done is the thousands of dollars he takes from hundreds of American citizens who think they can spend 500 dollars on his online course and then transform themselves into criminal profilers. The ONLY profilers work at the FBI and at other state departments of investigation, those actually responsible for solving crimes. Anyone can be a Monday morning quarterback and testify for desperate defense attornys who would do anything to get their client off.
A Word of Caution from former FBI agent Gregg McCrary:
There are a number of pretenders who claim to be "profilers." The common traits found among these individuals is little or no formal training in profiling and some have no investigative experience at all. The lack of training and experience has not stopped some of these individuals from authoring books about profiling. Some offer workshops or courses on the internet and proclaim that they can teach you to become a profiler - for a fee of course.
I agree with the criticisms of the author.......2007-01-11
The author is a bit condescending in his writing style. He is very clear that HIS way is the ONLY way, and he never shies from insults. Clinicians who practice using a Freudian model are "voyeuristic," and anyone who has an interest in this subject must prove themselves in his method or else they're just morbid and disgusting people who have watched too many movies. Maybe he forgot he came into this field too.
There are a few useful things in here, but I'm sure there are much better books with a more neutral approach. I found the author annoying and unfunny.
Turvey demystifies criminal profiling .......2006-06-29
This book by Mr. Turvey offers a lucid and comprehensive overview of criminal profiling. Contrary to popular belief, criminal profiling is not science per se but rather a collection of subjective views offered by renowned criminal profilers. Most of these views have not been scientifically corroborated and according to Turvey there is no concensus amongst criminal profilers on this subject. Turvey holds that much more scientific research is required in order to substantiate many claims. What separates Turvey's book from most books on this subject is his refusal to make sensationalistic assertions. Every major theory is explained clearly and both its strengths and flaws are accounted for. Inductive and deductive methods are reviewed extensively and meticulously and it becomes readily apparent to the reader that criminal profiling has been only somewhat beneficial in a few cases. In most cases, criminal profilers have failed to offer an accurate profile of the perpetrator, small wonder given the extreme complexity of human nature.
Needless to say, human behavior is extremely difficult to predict because no two persons are completely the same. In most cases we know the motive of a crime but in many cases we do not know the offender's true motivations. The apparent lack of a motive in any crime further complicates the detectives' ability to solve the crime. That said, criminal profiling is an important tool and can help detectives solve seemingly hopeless cases. For example, detectives know that injury to the face usually indicates that the offender knows the victim. This is because the offender seeks to dehumanize the victim and to strip him/her of all humanity by inflicting the injury to the face. Once the victim has been stripped of all humanity, the killer is able to escape guilt and bad conscience. Furtermore, detectives know that most pedophiles have themselves been abused as children and this helps them to narrow down the number of possible suspects. Physical appearance is helpful in some cases and certain physical features give clues as to the person's personality.
However, criminal profilers must be willing to subject their theories to rigorous scienific scrutiny if they want their theories to be accepted worldwide. Careful methodology (experiments, comparative studies, statistical analyses etc) must be employed in order to scientifically validate the claims. Sensationalistic claims lead nowhere and are nothing but a waste of time.
I recommend this book to all people who want to know the truth about criminal profiling and its current academic status.
Book Description
This comprehensive text achieves the ultimate goal of crime scene investigation in answering – What happened? – Who was responsible for each action? – What was the sequence of each action? Readers see the importance of each step through authentic photos, real life cases and full coverage of crime scene reconstruction. It also includes the most recent technological advances in the forensic sciences (i.e. database technologies, digital cameras, DNA analyses, and computer-aided crime scene reconstructions). Systematically organized to follow the same sequence in which crime scenes are processed, this is one of the most informative texts of its kind available.
Introduces crucial concepts regarding collecting, examining and interpreting physical evidence. Comprehensive coverage of procedural methods for crime scene searches, photography, sketching, and collecting of all major physical evidence categories. Extensive coverage of sexual assault investigations including how to collect physical evidence from the crime scene, from the victim and from the suspect. Serves as comprehensive reference for those working in law enforcement.
Book Description
Bloodstain pattern analysis helps establish events associated with violent crimes. It is a critical bridge between forensics and the definition of a precise crime reconstruction. The second edition of this bestselling book is thoroughly updated to employ recent protocols, including the application of scientific method, the use of flow charts, and the inter-relationship of crime scene analysis to criminal profiling. It provides more illustrations, including color photographs, and explains the use of computer programs to create demonstrative evidence for court. Bloodstain Pattern Analysis provides forensic scientists, investigators, and attorneys with quick and accurate information.

Exceptional.......1998-10-01
I was a student in one of Ross Gardner's bloodstain pattern analysis classes using these principles. Very informative and quite interesting.
Book Description
Written by the nation's foremost authority on gunshot wounds and forensic techniques as they relate to firearm injuries, Gunshot Wounds: Practical Aspects of Firearms, Ballistics, and Forensic Techniques, Second Edition provides critical information on gunshot wounds and the weapons and ammunition used to inflict them. The book describes practical aspects of ballistics, wound ballistics, and the classification of various wounds caused by handguns, bang guns, rifles, and shotguns. The final chapters explain autopsy technique and procedure and laboratory analysis relating to weapons and gunshot evidence.
Customer Reviews:
A difficult read.......2006-05-20
The title of this book, should be "Ballistics". There is little information on the actual wounds, but more on the grains and callibers of the bullets. The book has black and white photos, which makes it very difficult to see stippling, powder burns and soot. You will learn detailed information about bullets and the brands (if you can rememeber all that), unfortunately, not much more.
Shocking.......2001-01-01
Very informative about the destructive power a bullet can have. As wrong as this may sound, if you own guns and have children, this is a good book to buy. It is difficult to explain to a child what a bullet can do to a human being. With this, you can show them.
An excellent textbook on the subject of firearm injuries.......1999-06-03
This text should be in the library of any reader who has an interest in the topic of guns and the injuries they produce. While written with the practising forensic pathologist in mind, the book is appropriate for investigators, attorneys and other healthcare providers. The discussions of firearms and their features are very good and should help those with limited knowledge about guns understand what they do, how they do it and the terminology used in the field.
The only book you will ever need on the topic........1999-02-22
As a criminal defense attorney, my clients freedom often rests on my ability to understand the technical aspects of a case. While I will seldom, if ever, know more than the "expert" opposing me, understanding the topic in a straight forward and simple manner makes my interaction with that expert a benefit to my client. This to the point of knowing when not to say anything. This book provides a one-stop resource for all aspects of firearms, gunshot wounds, and the related forensic techniques and methods. A must for anyone who needs to understand, in plain language, the issues that come into play in gunshot injury and firearm cases. The photographs, x-rays, and diagrams provide an excellent point of reference for the text.
