transformational book.......2007-10-05
Zero Limits can only be described as life altering. The pure and simple practices of the Hawaiian healing method detailed in the book can literally change the world as we know it.
Rev Theresa Claytor, GCFP, CLL.......2007-10-04
This book is so simple that it is hard to fathom. I have been using this ancient Hawaiian healing system and it has been working for me. In order to let go of hoping I can forgive somebody else for a perceived wrong, I just ask to be forgiven. I now know that everything exists within me and not out there. So the way out of a problem is to go within. Thanks I needed that.
Another rediculous rip-off.......2007-10-03
Nothing but sales pitch for his other books, his seminar, and he says nothing about real Ho'O Ponopono.
And I am disgusetd by his published claim that he is "The Jesus of Business".
The Way To Go.......2007-10-01

I'm putting the information to work in my daily life. WHAT A WAY TO GO!!! I'm a much happier camper. I sinceerely recommend it. It will be a valuable part of your library and life. Thank you. E. Thompson
Another excellent one!!!!!!!.......2007-09-30
This is the second book by Joe Vitale that I have finished in record time! He has me hook, line and sinker.
I thought "The Attractor Factor" was great, but this one makes me even more of a true fan of his work.
ANYONE who buys "Zero Limits" will greatly benefit from the information it contains. As far as I am concerned, there is NO OTHER self improvement bok or guru on the market. Joe Vitale's works blow them ALL out of the water.
I can't wait for "The Key" in a few weeks!

He will also reveal tips and tactics to avoid getting stopped and ticketed for speeding in the first place.
Customer Reviews:
One for your Personal Library.......2006-08-31
Here is a book you can refer to forever. Good stuff to know.
The writer has been on the Jay Thomas Radio Show (Sirius Satellite) many times, and he's very helpful! He gives a tollfree number in the book, so that if you ever get a ticket you can call him up and ask questions about your specific situation and he'll help you FREE!! All for just the cost of this book!
Become an Informed Driver.......2006-08-13
This book was very knowledgeable on the ways cops obtain your speed as well as the faults in the types of ways they obtain it. Along with using correct and "street" terminology, it talks about the different types of radar used to pick up your speed and how they obtain your speed by pacing you. There are MANY faults and this book just confirms my prior thoughts that tickets are purely a money making scam not only for the police but for the insurance agencies as well. If nothing else buy it to be prepared when you do get pulled over as it gives you good tips on how to get away from a ticket at this early stage to. 4 out of 5 only because it does not list laws from every state just some laws from some states.
An Educated Guide To Speeding Tickets-How To Beat Avoid Them.......2006-08-10
It was helpfull but alot of the information is not good for the Washington state courts.
It really works.......2006-02-28
I just beat my speeding ticket last week by following Mr. Wallace's advice on sending a certified mail to the officer asking for the calibration record, FCC license, training record, etc. The officer didn't have most of it and stated that he didn't get the mail when I showed him the receipt of the certified mail he then said he had some of what I asked for. When we met the judge, He asked to dismiss the case stating that he didn't have the documents I asked for to prepare my case. My case was dismissed and saved me $200 of speeding ticket. I knew I did not speed in the first place and I'm so glad I invested on this book. It's worth the money. I also spoke to Mr. Wallace prior to my case preparation. He has a toll free number and he returns calls...This book is on the top of my list...
Simply The Best Book Of Its Kind-Easy Read-Great Info.......2005-12-08
Out of the 3 books that I recently purchased to help me fight a speeding ticket in my home state of Illinios, the Educated Guide by Richard Wallace was simply the best of them all. It read so easy and was full of helpful information. The one simple tip I learned in the book which I am surprised most people do not think of, is to obtain a copy of your driving history or record from your DMV/Registry and bring it to court along with you. As Mr. Wallace instructs, show it to the court, most of the time the court will dismiss your case because you have a clean record which is EXACTLY what happened to me. I WON! I did not have to pay the $110 and my insurance rates did not go up. I learned so much in this book. I highly recommend it to any parent who has a newly licensed son or daughter or for the husband or wife who cant slow down, like me! I am 52 years old and have never received a speeding ticket but I do drive a little faster than I should, as most of us do! Thank you Amazon for carrying the book and KUDOS to Mr. Wallace for taking the time to write it and the guts to tell the truth about the greed associated with the issuing of speeding tickets by the police. What impressed me also was that Mr. Wallace actually posts on his website the websites of his competition. I especially enjoyed the National Motorists Assocation website, it was most helpful. I learned so much from this experience and after reading this book, I will never receive another ticket again but if I do, I will fight back. Thanks again to both Amazon and Officer Wallace.
Book Description
International law is much debated and discussed, but poorly understood. Does international law matter, or do states regularly violate it with impunity? If international law is of no importance, then why do states devote so much energy to negotiating treaties and providing legal defenses for their actions? In turn, if international law does matter, why does it reflect the interests of powerful states, why does it change so often, and why are violations of international law usually not punished? In this book, Jack Goldsmith and Eric Posner argue that international law matters but that it is less powerful and less significant than public officials, legal experts, and the media believe. International law, they contend, is simply a product of states pursuing their interests on the international stage. It does not pull states towards compliance contrary to their interests, and the possibilities for what it can achieve are limited. It follows that many global problems are simply unsolvable. The book has important implications for debates about the role of international law in the foreign policy of the United States and other nations. The authors see international law as an instrument for advancing national policy, but one that is precarious and delicate, constantly changing in unpredictable ways based on non-legal changes in international politics. They believe that efforts to replace international politics with international law rest on unjustified optimism about international law's past accomplishments and present capacities.
Customer Reviews:
Astonishing that it was ever published.......2007-03-28
Without repeating the many (!) deeply critical reviews at length, suffice it to say that this is a poorly researched, badly written and ideologically blinkered polemic. The authors proceed from a simplistic conception of international law to a series of methodologically flawed case studies to draw unsupported conclusions. In particular, while claiming to advance a more rigorous and empirically-based analytical approach to questions of compliance, the authors barely address any of the substantial empirical compliance literature that has developed over the past decade: readers will, for example, look in vain for any reference to Oran Young, Benedict Kingsbury, Michael Byers or other serious scholars who have actually managed to advance more rigorous approaches.
Does international law exist?.......2005-10-25
What is international law? Most international lawyers will tell you that there are principles of international legality that are larger than any specific treaty and these principles of legality bind states, sometimes even against their will; there is something called customary international law which is international law that evolved in a decentralized fashion as a matter of custom; and there are human rights norms that are part of customary international law and bind states even if those states never explicitly agreed to them.
In this short, sharp book, Jack Goldmsith and Eric Posner explain why this is nonsense. International law, they argue, is a part of international politics. States enter into treaties and other international legal institutions when doing so serves their interests. Any cooperation among states is a byproduct of that rational act. On the whole, the Goldsmith and Posner are quite convincing.
The theory of the book is, nevertheless, incomplete without a discussion of how nations actually identify and develop their interests in the first place. On this, the authors are silent. Why does Britain feel it is in its interest to sign the Kyoto Protocol? Why do totalitarian regimes sign human rights treaties? Why enter into international agreements at all? This book lacks a theory that explains or predicts the amount of international law. If there is no moral or legal obligation to obey international law, is there even such a thing as international law?
Don't waste your time.......2005-09-24
I was very disappointed with this book. While claiming to be an academic book, the text reads more like a neconservative, ideological condemnation of international law. The authors seem to be denying a substantial body of evidence, and that is not an issue if they had made their arguements using case study or better yet strong empirical study. I actually tend to agree with many of their points, but they are really not the first ones who are making these arguements. A whole school of thought in international relations has made these arguements for decades, and frankly with much more clarity than this book and highly more complex and fine logic.
The authors should have also recognized that this is a contentious issue in international relations and international law. If you come out with strong claims like this, you better back your ideas with fine reasoning (which the book lacks) and evidence. Otherwise, as I believe will be the case with this book, your book will end up in the back stacks of university libraries after a while.
Book Description
This book examines the systematic constraints on U.S. law enforcement agencies' efforts to regulate business behavior. It looks specifically at the postwar development of laws regulating water pollution and at the Environmental Protection Agency's efforts to enforce them. The discussion traces the factors leading to legal change and analyzes the ways in which the impacts of environmental laws vary from their stated purposes and goals, even under relatively favorable conditions for their enforcement. It shows how legal processes and social relations mutually constrain and shape one another as the state struggles to manage often contradictory responsibilities, in this case to encourage both economic growth and environmental welfare. The book is principally directed at social scientists and their students in the areas of sociology of law, public policy, political sociology, political economy and criminology. It is also directed at legal and policy practitioners in environmental regulation and educated lay readers concerned with environmental policy.
Product Description
In the highly praised The Market for Virtue, David Vogel presents a clear, balanced analysis of the contemporary corporate social responsibility (CSR) movement in the United States and Europe. In this updated paperback edition, Vogel discusses recent CSR initiatives and responds to new developments in the CSR debate. He asserts that while the movement has achieved success in improving some labor, human rights, and environmental practices in developing countries, there are limits to improving corporate conduct without more extensive and effective government regulation. Put simply, Vogel believes that there is a market for virtue, but it is limited by the substantial costs of socially responsible business behavior.
Customer Reviews:
An invaluable resource offering a serious-minded, in-depth discussion of a complex issue.......2007-01-06
Written by Professor of Business Ethics (Haas School of Business) David Vogel, The Market for Virtue: The Potential and Limits of Corporate Social Responsibility is a scholarly examination of a politically charged and highly polarized debate concerning what corporate social responsibility can, cannot, and must accomplish in a modern capitalist economy. Chapters explore answers to and differing perspectives on the questions "Is there a business case for virtue?" and "What is the demand for virtue?" as well as examining corporate responsibility with regard to both the environment and human rights. Extensively researched, The Market for Virtue is an invaluable resource offering a serious-minded, in-depth discussion of a complex issue. Enthusiastically recommended especially for college library shelves, and invaluable reading for activists, businessmen, and legal personnel grappling with all dimensions of the interests and responsibilities of corporations.
Excellent: Balanced, Readable and Practical.......2006-02-22
Vogel has provided us with a much needed skeptics eye view of Corporate Social Resposibility. This book is a very accesible and practical guide for the manager who is beset with open ended questions and needs realistic answers to a difficult subject. The "needs to have" are separated from the "nices to have", the realistic from the theoretical.
At less than 200 pages, this is the one book the operating manager needs to read on the subject.
The Seminal Work in CSR.......2005-11-18
Vogel's THE MARKET FOR VIRTUE is the seminal work in CSR. His lively text offers the right mix of theory, analysis, and example. His conclusions are profound and will make a difference for the better. Required reading for corporate executives, business and management students, and those of us who simply wish to be informed participants in 21st century society.
Excellent analysis on CSR today by Silvia Barceló Lhéritier.......2005-10-25
Excellent and neutral analysis with accuracy and clarity. Helps thinking about future of CSR professionnals.
Best Book on the Subject.......2005-10-07
Vogel's THE MARKET FOR VIRTUE is a balanced and objective review of the many activites that fall under the rubric of "corporate social responsibility." He convincingly shows that these are over-ballyhooed by their enthusiasts, and over-disparaged by their critics. In fact, they make useful, albeit marginal, contributions to the welfare of communities and society. He draws useful distinctions between the many different manifestations of CSR, and offers thoughtful metrics for evaluating them. He cites literally hundreds of examples, and helps the reader to think about them in a rigorous and disciplined way. This is a must-read for corporate executives and business students.

Book Description
Jean Allain analyzes the first century of the evolution of international adjudication as a permanent fixture of the international society. Allain demonstrates the various limitations to effective adjudication through a case-study approach that examines specific international courts. He reveals that the rule of law can be effectively implemented internationally if states so desire, and maintains that their intransigence, over the last century, has limited the rule of law on the international level.

Book Description
We have all been victims of wrongdoing. Forgiving that wrongdoing is one of the staples of current pop psychology dogma; it is seen as a universal prescription for moral and mental health in the self-help and recovery section of bookstores. At the same time, personal vindictiveness as a rule is seen as irrational and immoral. In many ways, our thinking on these issues is deeply inconsistent; we value forgiveness yet at the same time now use victim-impact statements to argue for harsher penalties for criminals. Do we have a right to hate others for what they have done to us? The distinguished philosopher and law professor Jeffrie Murphy is a skeptic when it comes to our views on both emotions. In this short and accessible book, he proposes that vindictive emotions (anger, resentment, and the desire for revenge) actually deserve a more legitimate place in our emotional, social, and legal lives than we currently recognize, while forgiveness deserves to be more selectively granted. Murphy grounds his views on careful analysis of the nature of forgiveness, a subtle understanding of the psychology of anger and resentment, and a fine appreciation of the ethical issues of self-respect and self-defense. He also uses accessible examples from law, literature, and religion to make his points. Providing a nuanced approach to a proper understanding of the place of our strongest emotions in moral, political, and personal life, and using lucid, easily understood prose, this volume is a classic example of philosophical thinking applied to a thorny, everyday problem.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent academic and philosophic view of violence.......2004-10-07
This book was required reading for me for a Master's course on violence. Being a person trained in the physical sciences, I must say I had a difficult time reading this book. I like equations and concepts that are right or wrong or a question I can calculate an answer that is either correct or incorrect. This book is a highly academic and philosophic view of violence, forgiveness, repentance, and vengeance.
In the authors own words (or at least paraphrased), the book sets out to show that it is possible vindictiveness and vengeance possess some positive value, the relationship between repentance and legitimate forgiveness, explore self-forgiveness, how these issues play out in criminal law and psychotherapy, and the role of Christianity in the previously mentioned topics.
Personally, I found parts of the book to drag on (Remember, I studied Engineering. Philosophy is a new concept to me), but overall I found the book to be unique and intriguing. The author conveys the point that forgiveness is great, but the victim has every right to be vindictive. The vindictive side of the victim is just as legitimate as feelings of forgiveness. I was also very intrigued at the author examination of the topic of Christianity and forgiveness. In a nutshell, for every story of forgiveness Christianity preaches, there is a story of raw rage and vengeance.
The book is a well thought out view of violence, forgiveness, and vengeance. The author does not pretend to have all the answers, just offer his personal view. I believe that anyone who is trained in the physical sciences will have a difficult time reading this book (at least I did). I would recommend this book as an advanced reference on the topic of forgiveness and vengeance. I would also recommend the book to someone who enjoys reading philosophic views of today's issues in society.
Book Description
This first volume in the four-volume series The Moral Limits of the Criminal Law focuses on the "harm principle," the commonsense view that prevention of harm to persons other than the perpetrator is a legitimate purpose of criminal legislation. Feinberg presents a detailed analysis of the concept and definition of harm and applies it to a host of practical and theoretical issues, showing how the harm principle must be interpreted if it is to be a plausible guide to the lawmaker.
Customer Reviews:
Harm to others.......1999-09-01
This is a really great book, a marvelous analysis fot people who want to harm others without harming themselves. Especially insightful is the chapter about harming the dead.
Book Description
The Franklin Auschwitz trial was the largest, most public, and most important trial of Holocaust perpetrators conducted in West German courts. Drawing on a wide range of archival sources, Devin O. Pendas provides a comprehensive history of this momentous event. Situating the trial in a thorough analysis of West German criminal law, the book argues that in confronting systematic, state-sponsored genocide, the Frankfurt court ran up against the limits of law. This book provides a compelling account of the divided response to the trial among the West German public.
Customer Reviews:
Scholarly and compelling.......2007-06-21
Pendas's book does something rare in academic publishing: it deals intelligently and responsibly with a very complex topic (the intersection of German law, crimes against humanity, and the Cold War) in a way that is accessible and even compelling to read. His understanding of the German legal context is nicely passed along to his readers, and makes the outcomes of the Auschwitz Trial (often confusing and disappointing to Anglo-American observers) much more understandable. (It is worth noting, btw, that a number of those who managed and staffed Auschwitz, including its first commandant, were arrested and tried (and many executed) by the Polish government in the immediate aftermath of the war.)
inadequate justice.......2007-06-11
This book can be gainfully read in conjunction with Whitmann's book, Beyond Justice: The Auschwitz Trial. Both cover the 1963-5 Auschwitz trial, held in Frankfurt.
Pendas' account is heavily footnoted, demonstrating a lot of scholarship in this terrible subject. The entire book tends to focus on the legal maneuverings of the trial. By comparison, the actual events at Auschwitz seem to take second place. The biggest shortcoming was the inadequacy of German law, which at that time was largely the case law as existed before the war, to fully prosecute genocide. There is a stark and dreadful contrast between the measured and protracted tactics used by the defense and the mass murders summarily conducted at Auschwitz.
Also greatly inadequate were the numbers of SS prosecuted. In part due to some reluctance by Germans at that time to fully confront their recent past. Under these conditions, the Frankfurt prosecutors did a commendable job with the resources they had.
fascinating narrative, superbly researched.......2006-08-06
I picked up this book while writing a review of Rebecca Wittmann's on the same subject, and found that I couldn't put this one down. Pendas used a wide array sources and secondary literature as the basis for this book, and he has a knack for clear and engaging narrative. Telling anecdotes, like the dramatic arrest of former Auschwitz commandant Baer in 1960, and the Frankfurt court's visit behind the Iron Curtain in Auschwitz in December 1964, make this book well worth the purchase price. My detailed review can be found on my university web site.
Book Description
Article 1, Section 10 contains the most significant limits on state power found in the main text of the U.S. Constitution. Chief Justice John Marshall, perhaps the most important Justice in U.S. history, used this provision a number of times in a number of significant decisions to limit state power. These decisions effectively enhanced the power of our new federalist form of government. This book delves into the modern issues pertaining to state limitations by tracing its history and looking at today's most important factors. This work makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of the U.S. Constitution by detailing the most significant limits on state power. The many provisions studied in the book provide insights into the various aspects of constitutional interpretation. Coverage includes:
Ex post facto laws
Prohibition against bills of attainder
The import export clause
The Dormant Commerce Clause
Limits on a state's ability to retroactively impair contracts.
