Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Reasonable - Good Historical Materials.......2006-10-31
I've had cause to study this book a little for a course in Constitutional Problems at the University of Western Australia. Inevitably - while my requirements cannot be as detailed or exhaustive as that of my American friends, I found it a useful guide to the major cases and enjoyed the historical references. I particularly enjoyed the Race and the Constitution (equality and 14th amendment stuff) chapter and the dicussion of the case law preceding Brown v. Board of Education.
Keep looking.......2006-05-27
I hate to say it because I've actually had both Prof. Stone and Sunstein as teachers and they are great men, but even with my personal bias for them, this is still a poorly written casebook. I used it for two classes - one that covered Equal Protection and one over the structure of government. The section of the book on Equal Protection isn't too bad. It has some nice historical material, and most people are already somewhat familiar with the cases anyway. However, the section of the book on government structure and the commerce clause is truly attrocious. The cases aren't well edited. Sometimes the result of a case will turn on a statute and the text and even title of that statute will have been edited out. Its hard to tell what is important from the cases consequently. There are long strings of cites in cases and the notes after the cases are cramped with no real headings and hard to make heads or tales of. Half the time you can't tell why you are reading a case - what your supposed to be getting out of it and how it relates to the other cases you've read.
Worst. Casebook. Ever........2006-05-18
I just want to reiterate the other review by saying that this is the WORST. CASEBOOK. EVER.
No headings.
No organization.
The notes are terrible.
The book is too long to ever get through.
Simply the worst casebook ever written.
HORRIBLE.......2006-02-23
I am finishing my second year of law school, so I have read quite a few case books. This is BY FAR the worst.
I have the 5th edition.
The cases are poorly edited, leaving out important information.
But the notes are even worse. The notes are very poorly organized, with very few headings and sub-headings. Between cases there is a seemingly endless sea of words with very few interesting points to make. Instead of using footnotes for the ridiculous number of citations, the authors decided to use in-line cites. This makes the book EXTREMELY difficult to read. It is common to see an entire paragraph that is entirely comprised of citations (literally!). Even the normal paragraphs are too cluttered with cites to be readable. If you have about 40 hours per week to devote to ConLaw, then you might enjoy all the cites (you will need to look them up yourself, because most are not explained). But if you are a law student, you will not have time to wade through this ocean of rambling.
This is basically a 1,700 page sleeping pill.

Derby Recipes NOT Derby Entertaining.......2004-03-07
This is a compilation of Kentucky favorite recipes with a heavy hand on cream cheese and pork products. There are virtually no suggestions for Derby parties or ideas or suggestions other than a one paragraph introduction before the onslaught of recipes.
There must be better "Entertaining" books out there for the Derby party crowd, but this isn't one of them.
Simple recipes & ingredients for big impact in no time!.......2000-05-08
This is a great reference book for those who like to entertain, have limited preparation time and moderate cooking expertise but are looking for a dish that is different and will make a positive impression on their guests. Many one dish and prepare ahead recipes from appetizers to main courses, side dishes, drinks and desert. Consider this book if you are throwing the party or bringing a dish to a friend's house. You won't be disappointed. I am really pleased I purchased it! Now I am buying them for gifts - its a great size and has an attactive cover suitable for gift giving.

pedestrian interior design book.......2000-08-30
This book is ideal in affirming what we already know about interior design. It talked about suitability, proportion, textures, light, & other components that form the backbone of modern interior design. It also talked about coffee table, chairs, lighting, & other items that play pivotal role in our home decorations. As the book progressed, it wandered into sideline areas such as future technolgy that is growing in popularity in shaping our home. I would prefer the author not covering this point but expanding into other areas that mattered more to interior design enthusiasts. What I'm finding this book enjoyable to read, however, would be quotations from famous architects & designers but why Candice Bergen?? I also enjoyed reading the origin of various types of coffee tables, the rule of thumb for the height of various chairs, & so forth. Examples illustrated thru the mean of pictures are nowhere sufficient but then again, readers should be reminded that this book is merely 190 pages with big fonts & overblown pictures at times. It is indeed an easy book to read & readers are recommended to loan it from library to read it rather than buying it as you are better off spending the money on other better interior design books.
Good effort but falls short.......2000-08-20
I have generally enjoyed the Chic Simple series, but was disappointed with this book. It attempt to cover a very broad range of topics, from space and light, through furnishings, to technology and environmentalism. Trying to be comprehensive in 175 pages leads to shallow treatment.
On the plus side, "Home" introduces basic sylistic principles, succinctly lays out the evolution of interior design through the 20th Century, and sums up all the elements you should consider when laying out a space: form, color, texture, function, light, etc. On the minus, the succinctness is carried into discussions of chairs, tables, beds and hardware--two pages on each, chairs getting a bit more. While other Chic Simple books enumerate alternatives, here only basic principles are given ("If the room allows, there should always be one oversize table.") The section on "Smart House" technology has not aged well, and the "Whole House" environmental section doesn't fit with the overall style-oriented emphasis of the book.
Still, for someone like myself who has not thought systematically about how to decorate their house and is looking for an overview of the basic elements that will shape the decision, this is a reasonable introduction. Little jewels of examples are tucked in most photos, and quotations from reknowned architects and designers help put the reader in the right frame of mind to make decorating choices. Worth borrowing from a friend and spending a few hours with.
Could have been better..........2000-01-05
But not the worst book ever!
As a former interior designer, I still have a fondness for books about decorating and design. But this book will not be a keeper on my shelf.
Nicely packaged as to be expected of the Chic line. But so sterile, bare, boring--who says stylish has to be so basic?
In their wonder bread world, the Chic people forgot that the chicest looks of all revolve around creativty, texture, color--take a risk! Unless you live in a loft somewhere, there is nothing homey or comfortable about this house. It is like a museum--look but don't touch. Just fill your eyes with more visual candy and run, don't walk to grab the latest issue of House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens or Architectural Digest. They are sure to be more idea-inspiring.
Disappointing!.......1999-12-18
I own several of the Chic Simple books and am a big fan of them for their practicality and relevance. However, I was not at all impressed with "Home". I found the photographs to be boring, abstract and impractical. Many of the styles shown are very bare, almost forbidding. Additionally, too much of the content focuses on bizarre styles completely impractical for most people. If you need ideas on how decorating your home (as I do), this is not the book with which to start.
Intelligient, insightful and indispensable........1999-03-07
As an interior designer I found Chic Simple to be one of the most important books in my library. Their information is inspirational, giving the reader an outline to color in with their own personal brush. The book is a unique approach to design and decorating.

Excellent In-Depth Survey of First Amendment Law.......2005-05-06
Read this book as part of my law school class in the First Amendment (before taking Constitutional Law) and found it to be well worth the price. First Amendment law can be confusing, and the Court has refined its many approaches over nearly a century of jurisprudence. If you are seriously interested in understanding the role the First Amendment plays in this nation's history, and are not put off by reading cases, you will find this book an impressive resource. I would not, however, recommend this book as an introduction for the general interest reader, as it organized thematically, rather than chronologically, and could very easily become boring.
Customer Reviews:
So much cheaper than the 2005 edition.......2007-09-10
If you are buying this, I assume you are buying because you have to for class. In that case you will likely have noticed that the current edition is vastly more expensive and came out only 2 years after this edition. How much could the law change in 2 years? Is it false economy to scrimp on the books when you are paying through the teeth for law school already?
Here I attempt to answer these questions.
I used this edition of the book rather than the 2005 edition for both Con Law 1 and 2. The changes from this edition to the newer one were minor. In Con Law 1, I had to pull two new cases off FindLaw and only had to pull one new case for Con Law 2. Other than that the books were similar and most assigned readings were word for word the same between editions.
An added bonus was that the professors for both classes have been teaching the subject for years, and in the three sections that were significantly different both tended to teach focused on the older edition. In one class, the previous edition had an older case which had been replaced by the Gore Bush election recount case (an added case). The older case had been shortened to a note, but the professor elaborated on it. Not only was I not lost for using the older book - I had an edge.
I highly recommend economizing by buying the older book in this case. Constitutional law does not change frequently, and this did not disadvantage me. And to quell any doubts, I scored in the top third for both classes.

The WORST casebook in all of law school.......2004-10-31
This book is terrible. The content is too hard to follow because the editing is way over the top. The Notes sections, in particular, are the worst I have ever seen in a law school casebook (especially if your professor actually goes over each case mentioned that spans all of 2 lines). The editing makes simple concepts seem way too complicated as it constantly presents circular arguments that lead to nowhere. If you are using this casebook for class, I suggest you get a good commercial study aide like Chemerinsky's Constitutional Law: Principles and Policies or the Examples & Explainations.
Dreadful Beyond Belief!.......2004-05-04
This is THE MOST HORRIBLE casebook ever. Cases are edited to the point of being incomprehensible. Notes are incredibly dry, boring, obscurely academic, and utterly unhelpful. This book is completely useless for the study of Con law. Buy Chemerinsky instead.
Poorly organized and inconcise.......2004-02-02
As a brief look at any well written treatise will show you, the organization of the notes and note cases in this book is inconsistent and "without reference to any logical or reasonable formula whatever" (See Baker v Carr). If you are a first year law student stuck with this book, beware! My suggestion is to find a good treatise like Chemerinsky's "Constitutional Law: Principles and Policies" to help you discern what you need to know. Otherwise, be prepared to spend endless frustrating hours trying to make some sense of it all!
