Customer Reviews:
There is Nothing Else and This is Pretty Good.......2007-01-05
This book had 90 percent of what I needed to know for my final, in a concise and clear fashion. I've not read any of the other books in the E&E series, so I can't comment on other's complaints. The only thing that this book really does not touch on at all is 9-4XX, so I recommend learning these sections from an outline or your assigned course material.
Worst E&E Book Out There.......2006-04-24
This is easily the worst book in the E&E series.
Not bad, but the worst of the series.......2005-12-12
I've read 11 or so of the Examples and Explanations books while in Law School. For the most part, the series is great. The material is broken down into sections that make sense and the important points are made and remade with the examples.
This book is probably the worst of the series that I've read. There are numerous spelling/editing mistakes. The author tries (and fails) to be funny to the point of distraction. The material leaves out some of the important rules that you'll need for the test. The interaction between this section of the UCC and the Bankrupcty Code is barely even mentioned. And, the section of the book on "Priority" is not nearly as strong as it needs to be. For the first time, my text book was actually more helpful than the E&E book.
I suppose I'd still recommend it, but don't rely on this exclusively when you're studying for the exam. This might be the type of class where legal flash cards, etc. would be more helpful.
Highly recommended.......2005-04-27
The questions and explanations in this book are clear and very helpful. They are organized in a logical fashion and help you work progressively through problems in Article 9 transactions.
Ex & Ex is EXCELLENT.......2004-06-12
Unlike the other reviewer, I will review THIS book, and not criminal procedure... Early into commercial law I gave up on my befuddling casebook and esoteric class lectures. I committed myself to thoroughly covering 10 pages of this book a day, and completed the book in a month and a half. I knew the material cold and got an "A" - it was my last law school exam and thanks to this book I went out on top! Seriously, this book is a winner and U.C.C. classes can be very tedious, especially when you take it as a 3L and are struggling to maintain your focus with graduation so close. I also used the Gilbert's Sec. Trans. outline, which was very slender and right to the point at a little over 100 pages. Of course 100 pages of U.C.C. is like 300 pages of torts or property, but that is beside the point. I usually avoided Gilbert's in favor of Emanuel's, but on this subject AND Negotiable Instruments, I found Gilbert's MUCH better. My recommendation is to get the Gilbert's for U.C.C. and the Examples & Explanations, and work through a little every day. It is the best one-two punch aids out there for law students in my opinion, unfortunately Emanuel's dropped the ball with their dated Sec. Trans. outline and confusing Professor Series on Negotiable Instruments. If you have a commute and $40 to spare on tapes, then get the Gilbert's tapes as well from Spak, but that is icing on the cake - everything he covers is covered much more in-depth in the books.

Book Description
The new version of UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) Article 9 on secured transactions is significantly different from the prior version. To date, 17 states have enacted the 1999 version. The text also contains extensive coverage of the prior version because the majority of states have not yet adopted the new one. Also provides an overview of the security agreement; relationship of parties prior to default; perfection of security interest; bankruptcy; and the enforcement of security interest.

Customer Reviews:
Adequate Supplement... does the job.......2007-05-03
There are many hornbooks and supplements out there covering secured transactions and they are all a bit deficient. Gilberts is perhaps the best, but does only does a superficial job at integrating the important features of bankruptcy proceedings. Overall however, its lays the basic foundations of the integral fixtures of article 9 law. If you are interested in actually learning the subject... it's not a great choice. If you are just looking to survive the exam, it will get you through it.
Also, if someone happens to stumble upon this review and is considering law school but has not yet applied... read the review below and reconsider.
The best supplement for Sec Trans.......2007-04-13
I am the KING of law school supplements. I am ranked NUMBER ONE in GPA in my class. You may bow before me. OK, that is sufficient. To your feet.
OK, about this supplement. It is quite good. I have used ALL the supplements. E&E....Finals....Emanuels....CrunchTime....Siegels .....Nutshell...Gilberts...you name it, and I have used it for one class or another.
No one particular brand of supplement is the best for every course. Crim Pro? Use Emanuels. Prof Resp/Ethics? Use Siegels. Civ Pro? Use Glannons Multiple Choice.
It all depends on the author and the editors. It varies, as they say.
But this Gilberts for Sec Trans is the one you want. Trust me. It is succinct. It summarizes BRIEFLY. And best of all, it has lots of good examples/hypos.
Buy it. Used, if possible.
P.S. Someone else here mentioned in a review that this book only covers the 1999 revisions and does not have the 2002 revisions. Well, yes. But that is what is being taught. THe 2002 revisions are not being taught. And really the 2002 revisions are not a whole new game. And in fact, I believe that this book DOES mention the 2002 revisions as an addendum to each topic.
It's Secured, what do you want?.......2003-03-04
This one does not include the recent code changes, however I didn't find those changes drastic enough to make a difference in my Secured class, but then again, we were forced to review Burt Reynolds bankruptcy case in its entirety. For general purposes, understanding basic concepts, this review is fine, just don't forget to study and know the Code updates!
Out of Date.......2002-05-02
Do not purchase this outline. Its publisher has not updated it to reflect the changes to Article 9 that became effective in 2001.
Survive the most boring class in law school.......2000-03-31
I used Gilbert's to get through the most boring class in lawschool without reading a single case.Sounds impossible? Not if you use the Gilbert's on Secured Transactions along with with a book of canned briefs such as Casenotes. Like all Gilbert's outlines this one has all the major rules of law, a capsule outline and citations to major cases. It also has some practice questions to help prepare you for the exam.

Customer Reviews:
Good exam help.......2007-09-12
I found this to be really helpful before my secured transactions exam. It simplified the whole subject into a couple hours. It probably would have been good to have in the middle of the semester.
A Top 3 law study aid.......2006-02-28
An efficient, affordable, effective way to learn Secured Transactions if you didn't take it in law school. I listened to the complete lecture once during my bar exam prep and a select part (on priorities) during the lunch break on exam day. It was like Spak had stolen the bar examiners' working notes. He gave a one-sentence rule that allowed me to answer a thirty minute secured transactions essay cogently and effectively.

Product Description
A Comprehensive Review of Revised Article 9 provides a detailed review and explanation of Revised Article 9 of the UCC by examining revisions made to areas of Scope, Attachment, Perfection, Priority, and Default provisions found within Article 9. The book treats each area separately with cross-referencing to other areas when necessary to provide an in-depth analysis of Revised Article 9. For each area, the book provides a commentary concerning differences between Revised and Former Article 9, and it also includes detailed outlines of the revised rules. Many hypotheticals are included within the outlines to illustrate the legal application of the rules to both commercial and consumer financing transactions. The book also includes multiple choice questions for each of the revised areas along, with discussions that identify the correct answers (and explain why the answers are correct as well as why the other choices are incorrect). The book is ideal for students or practitioners who need guidance in this new area of law and can serve as a reference source for academicians.
