United States v. George W. Bush et al., former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega brings her twenty years of experience and her passion for justice to the most important case of her career. The defendants are George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, and Colin Powell. The crime is tricking the nation into war, or, in legal terms, conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Ms. de la Vega has reviewed the evidence, researched the law, drafted an indictment, and in this lively, accessible book, presented it to a grand jury. If the indictment and grand jury are both hypothetical, the facts are tragically real: Over half of all Americans believe the president misled the country into a war that has left over 2,500 American soldiers and countless Iraqis dead. The cost is $350 billion-and counting.

laughable.......2007-09-10
Im no Bushbot, voted for the man twice. It came down to the lesser of two evils ( Gore, Kerry) as far as I was concerned. Bush is a moron, but, this is the work an evil liberal. This is nothing more than a leftist's wet dream.
A Nation of Laws.......2007-06-28
The persuasive and informative little book U.S. v Bush by retired prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega lays out a strong case for the prosecution of George Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condaleeza Rice and Colin Powell for defrauding the American people. It is of course hypothetical, but that adds to its interest and importance for the reader regardless of their political persuasion. With an introduction "A fraud worse than Enron" she lays out the basis for such an indictment; "tricking the American people into a war or in legal terms conspiracy to defraud the United States". Ms de la Vega then artfully constructs the hypothetical indictment section (conveniently printed in a gray shade for easy reference - though in my opinion the case is anything but gray), assembles a fictitious Grand Jury with an entertainingly diverse cast of characters and witnesses and marches them through her imaginary proceedings. And the verdict? Well that is left to the fictitious Grand Jury and the reader to decide.
Woven into the narrative is of course the confounding mixture of truth, spin and contradictions - and worse -consequences in which Bush et al have enmeshed themselves; she helps us to make it all out and better still she clearly shows how many times laws were broken, with -in this case - the tragic result of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives lost as well as those of over 3300 American soldiers and almost ten times that number of wounded.
The spotlight is also on many real instances where a lack of accountability on the part of an official is evident, but we also learn through her instructions to the jury that such spin may actually be illegal: "White House officals, just like CEOs, are legally required to make sure that they have a reasonable factual basis for their assertions before they make them......Moreover if they have notice that an assertion they are making is not true or even dubious, they are legally obligated to inquire further". Wow! Dream on.
Those who claim that America is nothing if not a nation of laws while at the same time supporting either the Bush administration or its actions or both had better read this book, if for no other reasons than to prepare their own rebuttals. Elizabeth de la Vega doesn't leave them much wiggle room. I can only hope that at some future date this book will be on the required reading list for high school civics classes.
Finally some people worthy of impeaching!.......2007-06-13
Elizabeth hits the nail on the head. This is a 5 star fantasy, I can imagine being in the courtroom and sitting on my hands so I don't jump up and cheer when she twists the knife!
Great book! Thanks for giving me a great fantasy...now let's visualize impeachment!
A Compelling Case.......2007-04-18
If Bush is ever brought to trial, it will prove highly costly to the taxpayers. Ms. de la Vega has presented an excellent case and series of arguments against Dumbya, aka Bush. The concept of such a trial, a case of the people against the president is certainly a very interesting one. The closest this country has ever seen of such a possibility was in 1974 when Nixon faced possible charges and indictment in re the Watergate Scandal. Still, it would be interesting to see the Bush Administration own up to the charges that have been brought against it.
This author has indeed used credible media publications to back her accounts. She has not relied on hearsay on any of these charges presented herein. Her book is clean and crisp and direct; it does not get mired in minutiae.
True, true, true.......2007-04-06
Title speeks for itself.
And the VP is still using the same reasons--say it enough and you believe it.
Book Description
This book has the color photos, diagrams, and the analysis to show that the World Trade Center towers and Building 7 were demolished with explosives that were placed in the buildings in preparation for the 9-11 attack.
This book is being used by people around the world to support the accusation that the US Government was the primary conspirator in the 9-11 attack.
For two examples, David Ray Griffin references it in his book "The New Pearl Harbor", and Andreas von Bulow, a retired German government official, is referencing it in his book published in Germany.
If you believe Osama bin Laden attacked us without our government's assistance, why not find the flaws in this book, put these accusations to rest, and help restore America's credibility?
If you already believe the attack was conducted by the U.S. government, this book will help you educate your fellow citizens on the unbelievable corruption in our world.

Very eye opening! These questions need to be answered........2007-06-01
If you believe the line about how the towers fell due to heat, fire, impact...you need to read this book. Warning: When you present people you know with the hardcore evidence that this book presents, you will know first hand what "willfully ignorant" means. People don't want to know the truth! As the title of the book says, it's "painfull" to accept the truth sometimes.
The Author Hits It Out of the Park--Video is Spectacular.......2007-03-03
This is one of the best 9-11 books (with its own video) and I am persuaded by this author and others that 9-11 has not been properly investigated, and that there has been a major cover-up. The video is very powerful, very detailed, very thoughtfully narrated, and carries this book and this author to the very top of the list of reasoned and thus authoritative contributions.
Unlike the other 9/11 books I have reviewed, this book, which is letterhead size, is a brilliantly compelling collection of color photographs, color diagrams, thoughtful calculations, and plain text in two columns. The book and the DVD represent, in my opinion, the single best personal effort, and the single most credible case, to the effect that 9-11 was a huge scam on the American public.
The book, and the DVD, are *exhaustive*. There is no better word.
I especially like the author's discussion of the Oklahoma City bombing as a preview of a diversion (the truck bomb versus two airplanes) combined with controlled demolitions. Unexploded bombs are reported to have been found at the Federal Building, with news clippings. The author also covers the destruction of a wedding hall in Israel, and the downing of an Egyptian airplane, as rehearsals for 9-11.
I personally believe that the WTC were brought down by controlled demolitions planted by order of Larry Silverstein, but I am not certain if his action was done in partnership with Rudy Guliani and Dick Cheney, or on his own. The author does not mention the aspestos problem facing Larry Silverstein, for that I recommend viewing the DVD "Loose Change" as well as "9/11 The Press for Truth."
I also believe that the evidence strongly suggests that the Pentagon was hit by a missile fired by the US, and that there has been a massive cover-up.
I am relatively certain that 9-11 was allowed to happen, and that the majority of those who died--over 80%--died by order of Larry Silverstein, with or without the explicit protective consent of Dick Cheney.
I am quite certain that the 9-11 Commission was a deliberate cover-up, and that Controlled Demolition, all of the WTC security people, the insurance executives, and key Pentagon officials have not been properly investigated.
One day these monsters will be held to account. I have to say, on the basis of all that I have read, viewed, and thought, that it is not Bin Laden that has brought down the Republic, but rather Dick Cheney. Our most fearsome enemies are domestic, not foreign.
Bottom line: the political leadership of America can not be trusted and are almost certainly guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors (see my lists on holding Cheney accountable, and on impeachment guides for citizens).
For those skeptics that continue to believe their government, see the points made in my reivew of the below superb revisionist history:
Someone Would Have Talked: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the Conspiracy to Mislead History
compelling arguments.......2006-11-19
I am not a conspiracy theory person, in fact I've always laughed at them.
But reading this book certainly has made me question a lot of things!!!
Read it with an open mind. And then decide if the arguments hold water or not.
Steel frame buildings don't collapse due to fire alone.......2006-11-14
OK, wake up America! How did the towers free fall to the ground? What mass of energy was so strong as to pulverize the reinforced concrete to dust? Why very quickly destroy evidence by immediately shipping off all steel to China for re-cycling? Building 7 looked exactly like an everyday controlled demolition. You have to be a blind man not to see that. Why was it so, so very hot at the base of the collapsed towers for so long after? Have you never seen a magic trick before?
Overly Opinionated.......2006-10-19
I'll admit that the official story of the events on September 11 are suspect. But that's all I will conclude. The way the story unfolds in the media and the explanations for it all appear to be hiding some evidence. Why? I don't know, and frankly, after reading the author's very slanted view of events, am even less interested to find out. I was interested in reading the facts and evidence that exist, but his whole book was one big conspiracy theory strung together by edited quotes and simplified facts. And his summary about not fighting the Axis of Good was just over the top. Maybe the truth would only hurt us more than we know. Call me naive and ignorant, but I would rather live my life with a "half full" mentality. I enjoy my life and the choices I am able to make in America and since I have not the power to change the unfortunate events of Sept 11, I'll continue to live my humble life and not waste any more time worrying, fearing, and doubting the catastrophic events of that day. What will that accomplish? What I will continue to do is pay respect and remember the 2,000+ lives that were lost - people I didn't know - but sons, daughters, wives, husbands, friends, moms, etc.
Book Description
Traditional office work, characterized by repetitive clerical tasks, is rapidly giving way to "knowledge work," characterized by the creative application and exchange of information. In response, architects around the world are leaving aside the old cubicle grid to design imaginative, high-tech offices that foster knowledge work and, at the same time, help workers balance the competing demands of colleagues, customers, and family. The forty-three exceptional workplaces profiled in this timely volume have all been completed within the last six years and serve a wide variety of organizations, both private and public, small and large. Examples range from the headquarters of an advertising firm where one enormous table seats all two hundred employees, facilitating communication, to a BMW plant where the factory production line runs through and above the administrative offices, unifying the corporate community.
The authors skillfully distinguish the primary trends in contemporary office design by dividing their engagingly written case studies among four chapters, each dedicated to a particular type of workplace. "Academies" encourage the sharing of knowledge within a corporate structure; "Guilds" allow the members of a profession to interact as peers; "Agoras" bring the workplace closer to the marketplace and to civic life; and "Lodges" combine the home and the office. Two hundred extraordinary color photographs and fifty architectural drawings show how the featured architects have configured public areas, meeting rooms, and private work spaces to meet the needs of today's increasingly versatile and mobile workers. The inclusion of an informative introduction, which outlines the economic and technological factors driving the rapid evolution of contemporary workplace architecture, further ensures that this attractive book will be an essential reference for everybody who has a hand in designing offices, and a thought-provoking read for everybody who works in one.

Radical is Right, It can also be Inexpensive.......2006-10-25
Having spent most of my working career in the computer business, I spent most of my working career in offices where the main concentration of effort was dull, dull, dull. One mindless cubicle after another.
I picked up this book for the first time when it was lying upside down. The back cover shows an office structure in Los Angeles where the cubicles were truly cubicles - well, actually they were rectangulers. They were made of a stack of shipping containers, 8 foot square, by however long. These things are cheap, strong and available everywhere. I've often thought they should be used for buildings. And inside the book you'll find a description of the building that uses them, providing finished offices at a cost of about $40 a foot.
While this building was in Los Angeles, the book features offices from around the world. This is good, because I've often felt that much of the rest of the world was ahead of us in design efforts.
This is a splendid book that I'd recommend to anyone thinking about building new offices. It is a clear presentation of what can be done, and how advanced design does not have to be expensive.

Book Description
This groundbreaking, comprehensive survey of workplace architecture of the new century captures emerging themes and ideas in office design from around the world. Rapid organizational, economic, and technological change has led to the creation of new workplace models that challenge designers to rework traditional theories. The 21st Century Office features forty-five case studies of offices planned or opened after January 2000 that showcase revolutionary designs in response to contemporary design challenges.
The book begins by differentiating between today's workplace and the mechanistic, process-driven workplace model of twentieth-century modernism. This is followed by chapters focusing on four main thematic directions in contemporary office design-narrative, nodal, neighborly, and nomadic.
Among the offices featured are Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles; Reebok, Canton, MA; TBWA/Chiat/ Day, Los Angeles; PricewaterhouseCoopers, Philadelphia; Oliver, IBM, Santa Monica, CA.

Stunning Design but what about the employees?.......2004-02-23
This was a visually impressive book on modern office fit-outs. The book did however lack evaluative criticism of the workspaces. Working in the industry myself I continuously have to deal with defective fit-outs, so an evaluation of the space with feedback from staff would have been great. Having said this though, the book shows some stunning designs and talks about the process behind the artistic decisions. A pity there are not many Asian/Pacific offices looked at.
Definitely one of the best office design books. Great for the office or coffee table.

Important historical document.......2007-05-31
This thin volume is an important historical document. In a foreword, President George W. Bush says (page ix): "The "National Strategy for Homeland Security is a beginning. . . . It creates a comprehensive plan for using America's talents and resources to enhance our protection and reduce our vulnerability to terrorist attacks."
Overall, this brief volume provides a general outline for enhancing homeland security. The virtue of brevity, of course, is counteracted by a lack of concrete detail. It is more an abstract, general statement than it is an action plan. The report itself notes that (page 7): "The purpose of the "Strategy" is to mobilize and organize our Nation to secure the U. S. homeland from terrorist attacks." However, there is almost immediately some confusion in the mission. Just a few pages later, the document notes that natural disasters can be comprehended under the framework (see page 13).
The volume covers a great deal of territory and does a good job of outlining the various aspects of homeland security. However, the brevity often leads to general statements without concrete grounding.
The concluding chapter emphasizes the importance of developing priorities. It includes both the most important priorities as well as others that call for attention.
In the final analysis, this is an important historical document. Since it appeared so soon after 9/11, those responsible for the report may not have been given enough time to reflect as leisurely as would make sense. For those interested in the development of homeland security policy, though, this is a key artifact.

Meat and potatoes.......2003-04-14
There are numerous books that provide countless tips on Information Architecture such the creation of information infrastructures and blueprints, web design, and user experience. However, this book provides us with an overview of how exactly an Information Architect fits into our world and their importance within it.
It supplies information regarding the steps one needs to take to become an Information Architect such as educational opportunities. These educational opportunities are beginning to appear with more frequency (i.e. - University of Baltimore, etc.)and this area of specified education will be pioneering into the future. Personally, this was the most important part of the book for me because I have been doing research to locate an appropriate PhD program (Information Science, Communication, Library Science, etc.) with a concentration in Information Architecture. The book has confirmed to me much of my research and provided additional invaluable information.
The book also describes the future of the discipline and the profession itself. This is a book that is full of facts about schools, to corporations that Information Architects work within, to the expertise that is needed in this flourishing profession.
I have been searching high and low for a book like this. I was looking for the meat and potatoes of the profession and how to get there. That is exactly what I got.
