Book Description

The PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible is the most comprehensive book available for the Logic Games section of the LSAT. The intent of this book is to provide you with an advanced system for attacking any game you encounter on the LSAT. This same system is covered in the live classes taught by PowerScore, and all of the methods and techniques discussed in the book have been tested in classroom situations over many years.

The book features and explains a detailed methodology for attacking the games section. All aspects of Logic Games are covered, from recognizing game types to diagramming rules to making inferences and answering questions. Entire chapters are devoted to the most advanced game techniques and to time management strategies.

Logic Games are divided into individual types, and a discussion follows that teaches you how to approach each type of Game, and drills are presented to help you apply and understand the techniques. Thereafter, real LSAT logic games are used to illustrate how the techniques apply to real tests. Using real LSAT questions is a must for high-level LSAT preparation, and twenty-one real LSAT logic games are contained in the book. Each logic game is accompanied by a detailed analysis of the game setup and related questions.

The author has over 12 years experience teaching the LSAT and has scored in the 99th percentile on a Law Services-administered test. An expert in LSAT preparation, he has overseen the preparation of thousands of students and founded two national LSAT preparation companies.

The Logic Games Bible can be supplemented by The Ultimate Set-Ups Guide, which features setups for every game in each released LSAT from 1995 to 2002. Also, both books provide access to a unique website for additional LSAT and Logic Games information, and has answers to frequently asked questions.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE.......2007-10-05

I wish I would have purchased this book months ago! In contrast to other LSAT prep books, this one explains the Logic Games in a much more clear, concise, and easy to understand way. If you decide to use another LSAT prep book, I highly reccomend using this one to prepare your self for the Logic Games part, and skipping that part in your other LSAT prep, as this one is the best. I just took the LSAT on 9/29/07, and everything that was covered in the book, I utilized on the test!

4 out of 5 stars Useful, despite being overpriced and a bit odd.......2007-09-30

The Logic Games Bible teaches techniques for diagramming games and, to a lesser extent, attacking the questions. The most useful things I picked up from the book were:

1) Never erase your work (do one master diagram at the bottom of each page and then, if necessary, do mini-diagrams the questions).
2) Diagramming numerical distributions.
3) "Hurdling the uncertainty, TM," which is an effective method of diagramming inclusion/exclusion rules when presented with rules like "A, B, and C can not all be selected at the same time."
4) Diagramming abstract sequences

It's worth noting that along the way, the book utilizes some strange conventions. For example, when diagraming a sequence where A comes before B (that is, it's in a lower numbered position) the book suggests that the following shorthand be used: A>B, that is A is greater than B. If you've taken a math class in the last decade, this is disconcerting--in practice I diagrammed all of the abstract sequences exactly opposite of the book. Also, when diagramming morning and afternoon games, the book suggested that the diagram look like this:

afternoon.|_ _ _ _ _
morning....|_ _ _ _ _

A strange reversal of morning and afternoon that is, again, off-putting to anyone who has used outlook, or even a regular calendar. These are minor quibbles, but to some extent, they make the book seem a little amateurish and undermine the reader's confidence in it.

All said, this book can be very useful if used correctly. Its well worth purchasing if you're aiming for the 170s, still have a month or two left to study, and have not taken many practice exams (I say this because there aren't that many old logic sections to go through, and it takes a decent number of practice sections to learn how to efficiently apply the techniques taught in the book). If, however, you're planning on skipping a game on the test, expect to score <170, only have a couple of weeks before the exam, or have chugged through most of the practice exams, this will be an expensive book of little use.

4 out of 5 stars Great Buying Experience.......2007-09-26

I have been looking at all the bookstores in the Atlanta area for this book. I needed it to study for my upcoming LSAT. The book was out of stock everywhere in Georgia. I simply went online to Amazon and the book arrived at my doorstep within 3 days-and it was cheaper than the bookstores! This book is an excellent tool if you are unsure about the logic games portion of the LSAT. I would recommend it to anyone, even if they feel pretty confident on logic games.

5 out of 5 stars The BEST LSAT book available.......2007-09-09

I used this book as a supplement to the PowerScore classroom course, and I found the book more helpful than the actual course! When I began to work through the book my score was a 168, but I now score consistently in the 173-174 range. As I practice, I get even faster...the techniques really are superb. Just leave yourself enough time (2-3 weeks) to work through the book without rushing so that you can absorb each concept, and then leave at least 3 weeks to do your own practice, honing the techniques on actual LSATs. I've been working just the games section from one test each day, and then an entire test every 4th day.

Unless you think the games are easy, this is the most important LSAT prep book you can buy.

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny!!!.......2007-09-03

Before purchasing this book, I purchased both Kaplan and Princeton Review prep books and still SUCKED at the analytical reasoning/logic games section of the LSAT. I spent two weeks with this book and was able to complete every logic game accurately. I'm still working on the timing but at least I'm able to diagram the games and arrive at the correct answers, which is something I struggled with before. If you have difficulty w/ the logic games - this is the book for you!!!

An absolute must for any tax professional working with partnerships. Like the title indicates, it is very logical and gives an overview of the complex details before diving into the details.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book For A Difficult Subject.......2007-04-19

This is an excellent, excellent book! I am law school student struggling my way through partnership tax (with no desire to practice tax law). I have purchased everything under the sun that I thought might give me a better understanding of the subject. This is the first book that I have come accross that really helped. It gives you the "why?" behind the mechanics. I cannot imagine why my professor recommended the Nutshell book as opposed to this book. I cannot recommend it enough!

UPDATE - I got an A in the class and I am positive it was due to this book.

5 out of 5 stars Great Work Tool!.......2007-03-24

I work for the Department of Treasury for one of their tax audting departments. :) This book was helpful in my lLow Thru training and working my cases. The issues are easy to understand and there are great examples! A great tool to have with you when reviewing a flow thru tax case!

I took a PS Tax law class and we were assigned a rather lengthy treatise as our textbook, but after a few weeks, it was clear that the treatise would not be helpful for someone taking a first tax course. The Logic of Subchapter K, however, covered almost every major topic the class addressed and did so in 5 to 10 pages of well-written material. I would have been in trouble without this book!

Developing good legal reasoning habits is essential to a quality law practice. Judge Aldisert examines legal thinking from a variety of perspectives to help guide lawyers through appropriate reasoning patterns. One Amazon.com reviewer says the book "provides a shortcut to understanding the basics of legal reasoning, including the common law doctrine of precedent, identifying weaknesses in legal arguments, and fashioning winning arguments through syllogisms." --David Marshall Nissman, J.D.

Book Description

To win in court you must master the elements of legal logic--the ultimate tool of persuasion in the courtroom. In Logic for Lawyers: A Guide to Clear Legal Thinking, Senior U.S. Circuit Judge Ruggero J. Aldisert tells how to use legal reasoning to persuade judges and juries.

A 30-year veteran of the bench, Aldisert helps litigators understand and apply the elements of legal logic. Using these skills, you can argue more persuasively--both in briefs and before the court. And just as critically, you can also expose flaws in adversaries' arguments. The result? A competitive edge in the courtroom.

Rather than miring readers in exotic formulas and theories often found in logic texts, Aldisert explains in broad strokes the basics of logic and its application to legal thinking. You'll gain important insight into the mental processes we use in "thinking like a lawyer."

4 out of 5 stars Great book, but taking a logic course would help.......2006-07-19

I'm a former legal researcher at a law firm and incoming 1L student at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. This book was on my reading list and I must say, it is an outstanding book on the logical process attorneys use on a daily basis. The book is clear and concise, offering in-depth commentary on certain logic terms, that even the average layman can understand somewhat. The book also contains a great source of humorous passages, that help ease the strain of learning a process, that can be somewhat mundane at times. However, once you have a full grasp on the concepts explained in the book, every argument from thereon, becomes a collection of categorical syllogisms that you can dissect and understand.

The only qualm, is that one should have a logic background, if at all possible. I took a logic class in undergrad, so this book was a refresher in some areas and explained how to apply those unearthed principles to the law. As previously mentioned, an average layman can understand some of the concepts, but in the more advanced areas of the book, having a background in logic would help tremendously and preclude the book from sounding too much like a text/casebook.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent book!.......2003-07-13

If you are preparing for law school or attending law school, then you need to read this book. This book will improve your understanding/analysis of common law and improve your ability to construct legal arguments.

5 out of 5 stars Helps to burn off the fog that law profs relish creating.......2003-05-22

I can't say it any better than in Aldisert's own words in his chapter on the Socratic Method: "An understanding of the principles of deduction and induction will significantly assist the student in the daily exercise [i.e. the Socratic Method used by law professors in the classroom]. To lack this understanding is to be substantially, if not totally, disadvantaged."

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended.......2003-02-04

The reviewer from San Diego has it spot on. I wish this would have been required reading in law school. It would have been infinitely helpful in dealing with the professors' hide-the-ball obfuscatory nonsense. Senior Judge Aldisert has obviously spent a long time contemplating the subject, thus it will be well worth your time and effort to not just read this book, but to closely study it. Aside from its great value in assisting legal studies, a side benefit of the book is that you'll probably find that you start spotting all sorts of logical fallacies in the world at large. This can be both good and bad, of course. Good for sharpness of mind, bad for romantic/familial relationships. We cannot effectively deal with our loved ones through the strict scrutiny of a legal lens. Be sure to take it off when appropriate. But I'm getting off track here. In short, if you acquire this book before or during law school, consider yourself fortunate.

5 out of 5 stars How to Think Like a Good Lawyer.......2001-05-06

Judge Aldisert's book cogently explains the fundamental role that logic plays in law. For the law student (or pre-law student), it provides a shortcut to understanding the basics of legal reasoning, including the common law doctrine of precedent, identifying weaknesses in legal arguments, and fashioning winning arguments through syllogisms. The rest of your law school classmates may flail in the darkness of the Socratic Method, but this book illuminates what the prof is attempting to do.

I'm an attorney and did not have the benefit of Judge Aldisert's wisdom until after graduation. But he explained many murky concepts that I had only vaguely understood. Before reading the book, I could tell you that one argument was better than another; now I can put my finger on why. This book is for anyone who wants to improve his or her legal reasoning skills.

Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

3 out of 5 stars Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars I would not suggest buying this book.......2007-08-29

I felt quite comfortable doing logic games before buying this book and wanted the book only to have more games for practice. However, I was very disappointed by the book. The games do not resemble actual LSAT games in that they do not require similar deduction, if at all; they are much easier; some answers do not make any sense, and some even contain mistakes. After doing some of the games, I found myself moving backwards (in my progress) rather than forward.

5 out of 5 stars excellent study guide.......2007-07-06

A bargain book. It has 80 games (each LSAT has 4 games), including the most recent 12 games from preptests 49, 50, and 51 (purchased seperately, these three would cost $24 right there). All games are explained in detail. The instructional section was very useful, it taught everything I needed. Some of the symbols were a bit different from those I learned in my class, but it was pretty easy to figure them out and they made diagrams a little quicker. I had some knowledge before using this book and it moved me to the next level, but a think a beginner would also benefit. I know it helped me, I just got my scores and I only missed one game question.

5 out of 5 stars If you need practice, practice, practice..........2007-06-20

It wasn't so much that I needed a system for understanding and completing logic games, but just a book that would provide me with some decent material to apply techniques that I had already learned. This book has 14 of its own practice tests (and a lengthy explanation for why answer choices are right/wrong directly following each test). The questions composed by the authors of this book are very comparable to actual LSAT questions. After doing those tests, there are three additional logic games sections (each with four games) taken directly from recently administered LSATs.
I haven't seen another book with as many practice tests. I recommend this book highly--whether or not you have already purchased a book , even if you have already learned a system for completing logic games. Good luck!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome! The best book for LSAT Games!.......2007-05-09

First of all, I wanted to point out that the book is more than 500 pages. When I first picked it up, I thought it must have weighed more than 10 pounds! The book has more than 80 games in it (not 80 questions), so that's like... well, let's say around 450 questions. I think this book is the ultimate for LSAT Games. Kaplan's Logic Games Workbook only has about 200 questions (half as many games) and the PowerScore Bible is only 200 pages (half as many pages). This book is unlike anything I've ever seen. It let's use do the problems on your own and correct your answers using a "tutor sheet." You actually see how a tutor worked out the page, where they drew their diagrams in the small space, etc. Sorry, Kaplan, but this book is a lot better.

4 out of 5 stars Helpful quantity, but glitches in quality........2007-04-05

If you're looking for a book that will offer you tons and tons of logic games to practice, this is the one you want, hands down.

If you're just starting out with your LSAT studying and are looking more for instruction about how to effectively tackle the games, I wouldn't recommend it. The diagrams and explanations are not very easy to understand, nor are they the most thorough or comprehensive. What's worse, I found a few typos here and there in them that sometimes dramatically changed the rightness or wrongness of answers.

It's an excellent book on the basis of its massive and diverse collection of games. It just seems written somewhat hastily and carelessly -- not the best idea for the beginning LSAT studier. If you're looking for better teaching, try Powerscore's "Logic Games Bible."

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Kaplan LSAT Logic Games Workbook.......2007-07-18

I highly recommend this workbook as a beginning step for building a foundation for advancing points in the games section of the LSAT. However it needs to be followed up with a more advanced workbook such as Get Prepped's Logic Games or PowerScores Logic Games Bible. I found the setups to be very basic but it is a great book to start with if the LSAT games are giving you trouble. I have worked all of the games books because I love them!

3 out of 5 stars Not that great..........2007-05-09

I read the good reviews but found this book to not be everything it was hyped up to be. Honestly, I thought it would be better, especially since Kaplan is supposed to be the best in test prep. First of all, the book has some overlap with the Kaplan 2007 Comprehensive Program. Secondly, I did not find any advice for diagramming or approaching the questions. The explanations were mediocre. I found Cracking the LSAT to have a better Games section than this whole book. In terms of practice, it was okay. However, I would recommend GetPrepped's Ace the LSAT Logic Games. That book has a lot more problems and shows better Diagrams than Kaplan did. I think this book was sold to make up for the poor quality of the Games section in the Kaplan Comprehensive Program. But, after completing both books, I would definitely recommend something else. I like the Princeton Review. I know it might not be mainstream, but they are a lot better. I also like their attitude better (I wasn't fond of Kaplan's tone when reading this book). I think doing all the preparation I can is necessary, so it's not like this book was time wasted. It's just that I wish I didn't send the money on this book.

4 out of 5 stars Very helpful.......2007-03-26

Great explanations for the different types of questions. Great advice on how to answer the questions. I also bought the Kaplan comprehensive review, which I did not like. So if you had a bad experience with that, don't let it scare you away from this one.

4 out of 5 stars Kaplan LSAT Logic Games Workbook Review.......2007-02-07

I bought the logic games workbook primarily for exercise purposes. It was quite helpful, although it lacked examples of some types of logic game questions. Overall, it served its purpose. The explanations are good and for beginners, it is an excellent resource.

4 out of 5 stars Very Helpful.......2007-02-06

I was an English major so about 75 percent of the LSAT was pretty easy for me (Reading comp and Logical Reasoning are pretty much the same thing). But I really was terrified of these mathematical looking games. This book has been invaluable to my preparation, and I recommend it to anyone who is Logic Game challenged.

Book Description

In 1933 Ludwig Wittgenstein revised a manuscript he had compiled from his 1930-1932 notebooks, but the work as a whole was not published until 1969, as Philosophische Grammatik. This first English translation clearly reveals the central place Philosophical Grammar occupies in Wittgenstein's thought and provides a link from his earlier philosophy to his later views.

4 out of 5 stars the limits of language.......2004-07-26

certain other reviewers of this book may have missed the point. Not that it isn't okay to miss the point from time to time, Sometimes it's a good thing to miss the point, but its not very useful in a book review. The short reason as to why this book is worth reading is because it was edited by Rush Rhees who has a different point of view on Wittgenstein than many of his other literary executors which is worth being exposed to. The mid-sized reason is that this is "Middle Period" Wittgenstein, and it is interesting to watch a great mind question itself in the way that Wittgenstein is beginning to do here. The long reason is that there are ideas here that are referenced in the Late Wittgenstein and which shed light on the ideas Wittgenstein comes to in On Certainty, Philosophical Investigations, and Zettel.

So in short, pay no attention to reviewers who lack the background to understand what this book is for, or who don't know how to read a book like this. If you've not yet been exposed to Wittgenstein, don't start here. Read Philosophical Investigations and On Certainty first. Read the Blue and Brown Books. Browse through Zettel and Philosophical Remarks. Those all contain a more cohesive picture of the man's thought. For people with some background on Wittgenstein looking for more to ponder, well, that's what I got from this book. And it's valuable.

3 out of 5 stars Typical philosophy.......2004-01-01

Once feature of this book that is always fascinating is that one can take any paragraph in it and generate a plethora of ideas and commentary, that might even fill volumes. This book is not unique in that regard, but in fact most books of philosophy have this characteristic. They allow the mind to go forth untamed and engage in speculations that are unconstrained by experience or laboratory experiments. Philosophical reasoning is to be distinguished therefore by its freedom to say and write what it pleases, unlike the case for scientific reasoning, which is highly constrained by observation and experiment. There are some interesting points made in this book, some of them having intersection with what is now going on in artificial intelligence, computational grammar, and linguistics. Readers can also gain insight into the school of logical atomism, which the author was of course very much a part of.

The book is organized as a collection of disjointed paragraphs, which little or no correlation between them. Many of them are quite interesting and thought-provoking, especially if read in the context of the field of artificial intelligence. It is doubtful though that any of these ideas could be refined in such a way as to make them useful in the goal of building thinking machines. They are just too loosely structured to be codified in a language that would run on a machine. Speculative ideas unfortunately are like that. The ideas in the book might perhaps though put one in a certain frame of mind that would permit more acceptance of various claims made in artificial intelligence. Conversely, it might very well increase the doubt on those claims. Such is the nature of philosophical grammar: its expressive power and rich information content permits a wide range of interpretations.

This is a very informative and compelling book that illustrates why terrorism cannot be as effective, or in many cases even exist, without the sale and profits from the illegal drug trade. The book provides insight to what works, what doesn't work, and how the United States could cripple the various terrorists groups by stopping the illegal sale of narcotics.

1 out of 5 stars A Mistake.......2003-08-14

I bought this book hoping it would help me for the LSAT, but I was disappointed. It is a little simplistic (although this could help a person get used to the games), but it's biggest flaw is the mistakes in the text. Throughout the exercises, there are msitakes. This drove me crazy when I was trying to solve the sample problems becasue I could never be sure if I just wasn't getting it, or if there was another mistake in the book.

2 out of 5 stars you are better off with out this for the LSAT.......2002-09-24

I don't know about the other tests but this book is useless for the LSAT. It is too easy and has too many mistakes! Simple things like replacing "could" with "must" in the answers mess up the whole outcome and this book makes those simple mistakes. I also understand the concept of choosing the lesser of the evils but this book takes it to the extreme! Answers for inference questions are things that really can't be implied any more than what they consider "wrong". The LSAT doesn't do that. So far i suggest getting the actual past tests and there are plenty of other prep book out there. I suppose you could use this book to boost you confidence, so i will give it stars for that.

1 out of 5 stars The worst logic prep book I ever had..........2002-09-11

People should really avoid this book unless you have too much money, time and effort to waste. Aside from this book only provides limited strategies on cracking the logic questions, it has way way way too many bloodly obvious mistakes in it answer keys. It only does two things: confuses you--because you will never understand the inference process since the answers are wrong; or frustrates you--one MORE mistake is found! I eventually got so frustrated that I had to abandon using this book after getting through about 1/5 of the book. Strongly recommend avoiding using this book.

1 out of 5 stars Too Many Errors in Answer Key ..........2002-06-28

I would avoid this book simply because the answer keys have too many errors, thus making it difficult to gauge your success on the test questions.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible and error-filled.......2001-10-03

I looked at this book while preparing for the LSAT.

It deals only with very easy questions and even includes errors in the answer key and explanations. The logical reasoning section is quite horrendous, only introuding questions of mild complexity.

I would look elsewhere for a preparation book.
