Experience a whole new world of Cocktails!.......2007-04-28
Always looking for new and exciting cocktails to try, I purchased this book. Each page became more interesting, not only for the drinks presented but for the knowledge that Mr. Bondurant shares about Tahiti, it's culture, local accomodations, etc.
The photos are exceptional and each drink I have mixed has been better than the last. I have bought several as gifts for coworkers and friends. You won't be disappointed!

This book will make you fall in love with Tahiti.......2006-12-18
I have always wanted to go to the Tahitian islands but have never had the opportunity. Now, after reading "Cocktails in Tahiti", I am planning a trip to Tahiti for next Summer. I originally thought "Cocktails in Tahiti" would give me some good ideas for entertaining, but soon found out it contained many intersting nuggets about the islands and their history. To sum it up, I am packed and ready to go to these beautiful islands.
If you've ever dreamed of a tropical vacation or just need to brighten up your winter, you should read this book.
Beautiful Book.......2006-12-09
I have never been to Tahiti, but after reading the fun, informative facts about Tahiti, seeing the beautiful pictures, and sampling some of the excellent cocktail recipes, I am ready to go!
Mr. Bondurant's love and knowledge of Tahiti come through clearly in the book, which is very well laid out. It provides enough information and explains things in such a way that an amateur can make delicious Tahitian cocktails as well as the most experienced bartender. The fun facts about Tahiti, along with summaries of the total hotels and the gorgeous pictures, makes this book a must have.
Until I can take my first trip to Tahiti, this book will help bring a little Tahiti to my home.

On the volcanic island of Santorini, rising spectacularly from the Greek Aegean, the sparkling white domed cottages of Hotel Tsitouras cling to the cliffside, their interiors adorned with ancient amphorae, Byzantine icons, and antique porcelain from the owner's outstanding art collection. Off the shores of East Africa, the private atoll of Mnemba hosts a collection of luxuriously simple beach huts made from hand-woven palm matting traditional to neighboring Zanzibar. On Mexico's Pacific Coast, the luxury ecological reserve of Hotelito Desconocido invites you to witness the annual scramble of newly hatched sea turtles as they make their first intrepid journey to the ocean. Book Description
Distinguished by masterly architecture and exemplary interior design, the beach hotels introduced in the pages of this lavishly illustrated coffee-table book are the ultimate refuge for those needing respite from their hectic lives and every-day routines. Whether well-established names or hidden gems, the reader is presented with a visual tour of ocean side resorts that range across continents and around the world - luxurious places where tastefulness and simplicity are often valued over richly decorated formality.
Customer Reviews:
Good concept-sloppy execution.......2005-01-10
I recently ordered this book - what a disappointment! This book profiles luxury beach hotels around the world and includes leading hotels in locales such as the Seychelles, Maldives, Oman, Bora Bora and numerous other places. There are two problems however. First, the quality of the pictures is inconsistent - some pictures are good but there are too many that are blurry. Also, many of the pictures are from the hotels themselves. The problem with this is that the pictures can be found on the websites of these hotels already and can be viewed for free. Second, the descriptions of the hotels are poorly written and provide next to no information. I could go on but why bother - Skip this one!

Book Description
The unbroken desire for sun, beach and sea has spawned an ever growing number of hotel beds within earshot of breaking waves. At least that is the theory. In reality, many so-called beach hotels are to be found in central locations, i.e. on busy streets or noisy squares. But there are some exceptional complexes which promise pure relaxation and space for creative thought. "best designed beach hotels" is a collection of the most amazing ad-dresses for all those seeking aesthetic highlights. A firework that appeals to all our senses. On 168 pages, the author presents architectural master-pieces situated on the world's most beautiful beaches with the best views and the sound of the waves, guaranteed! The book invites the reader on a visual journey of experience that takes him to all the continents and through a wide range of landscapes: from northern Australia to South America, from Scandinavia to South Africa.

Adults Only Travel: The Ultimate Guide to Romantic and Erotic Destinations, Second Edition
ASIN: 0966268326 |
Book Description
Everyone returns from Hedonism II, an adult resort in Jamaica, with at least one good story no one at home believes. "The Naked Truth About Hedonism II" is a collection of those cheeky stories and a bawdy travel guide for making the most of a trip to this resort that sports a 90% repeat guest rate--the highest of any Caribbean hotel. Sporting 43 color photos and 18 black-and-white ones, the book is sure to open your eyes and make you bust a gut laughing at the antics of the goofy guests who keep coming back for more silliness and naked games.
Customer Reviews:
great book.......2007-01-01
my fiance finished this book in one sitting and it took me two sittings. This book is a must have for anyone considering a trip to hedonism 2 (or three). and for those who aren't considering the trip it is still very well written and entertaining. over all well worth the purchase price.
Go Chris Santilli.......2006-09-20
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to have Chris as my ENGLISH professor at Elmhurst College this semester!! The book is a must for traveling to Jamaica's famed resort. Chris is the best.
Get for newbies.......2006-08-20
I went to Hedo for the first time this year and was glad to learn more about the resort before I arrived. highly recommended!
what a boring book!.......2006-05-14
We didn't finish the book because we found it completely unerotic and asexual. The author tells you for instance to bring safety pins to hold your toga in place and to bring toenail polish because the sand on the beach will wear it off. Wow!!! The stories told are all childish fun, but there's not a single one titillating. Puritan lack of sexuality. Boring.
A fun read!.......2003-12-01
I might never get the opportunity to go to Hedo, but I'm certainly prepared if I ever do! This book is just packed with tips and tricks of preparing for your trip. It's also full of crucial information regarding the not-so-well-known etiquette of getting wild and crazy with a bunch of like-minded folks. And the stories are just hysterical. So, even if a trip to Hedo isn't in your future, you can have a great time just reading Chris' book.

Customer Reviews:
Great Resource.......2007-08-17
If you are going to drive the Keys I recommend you take Keith's guide with you. Mine has many pages folded, it made three of my vacations to the Keys more enjoyable.
Corey Cotta, Author of All of Yesterdays Tomorrows.
Keeps Your Attention!.......2007-05-16
I cannot stress enough how great this book is! I bought it the 1st time my husband and I planned our Key West trip and had to cancel due to a hurricane. I read it from cover to cover then, highlighting all of the things that we wanted to see or do. Now, we are planning our escape to paradise once again and I cannot put this book down. She makes it so interesting, it is not like reading your everyday guide book, she knows things about all of the Keys and has something interesting to say about every one of them. You will love this book if you are a history buff like me. I would enjoy this book even if we were not going to the Keys! I find myself reading something and then going back and re-reading the same thing because it is such neat information! Order it- you will not be sorry!
Best Key West Book.......2007-03-08
This book is the best of the best! Not only does it tell you about the toursist spots to visit in Key West, but also gives you great not so popular spots. It tells you about things to buy and places to eat. This book also gives details about the rest of the Florida Keys. So, if you are traveling to Key West, this book is a must have!
Made our Key West vacation nearly perfect.......2004-09-29
We bought this book in the early stages of planning a Labor Day weekend trip to Key West. It was sheer luck that we chose this book, and now we can't imagine our first visit without it.
I am impressed with the book's balance of suggestions for traditional tourist destinations and quirky attractions. (I would have never thought to visit the Key West cemetery without her guidance.) Best of all were the dining suggestions. Louie's Backyard, Banana Cafe, Camille's and Mangoes were wonderful. At the top of the list was Blue Heaven! My memory of Blue Heaven's gumbo soup and yellowtail snapper will linger with me always.
June Keith's book made our Key West vacation nearly perfect. I will recommend it to anyone planning to go to the Keys.
Great writer, but you'll need another guide book.......2004-03-29
This book includes lots of interesting history and background on the Florida Keys. But you won't be able to use this as your only guide book for the Keys. No useful maps or directions are included. Also, she doesn't include prices for lodging or dining. This book was fun to read and had good suggestions, but we definitely needed more information that was not included in the book.

From the tip of Mexico to the Oregon border, the beaches of California have a persona that's larger even than the state's 1,200 miles of coast. But not all sandy strips are equal, and Parke Puterbaugh and Alan Bisbort ("America's beach bums," as Larry King calls them) review and rate more than 400 beaches for access, privacy, beauty, ruggedness, swimability, and recreational activities. They have the skinny on extras, too, like the best fish taco stands and campgrounds. Witty as well as practical, the authors poke fun at beach culture and sun worship while honoring the miles of glorious golden sand.
Book Description
Devoted campers, hikers, boaters, anglers, bikers, and golfers agree: Foghorn Outdoors guidebooks are essential for anyone who wants to spend less time planning and more time enjoying the outdoors. Each book is an excursion guide packed with the latest information on a variety of adventures near and far. Celebrated authors and beach experts Parke Puterbaugh and Alan Bisbort comb each coastal county in the Golden State, providing witty and opinionated facts and features on every publicly accessible stretch of sand between the Mexico and Oregon borders. California Beaches includes up-to-date directions, entrance and parking fees, hours of operation, and facilities available at nearly 400 beaches clever, fact-filled essays on beach life and other California-related topics, the latest lodging options -- from five-star seaside resorts to secluded beach campgrounds, the best in coastal cuisine and nightspots from surf bars to gourmet restaurants, and easy-to-use maps and an extensive index.
Customer Reviews:
Fantastic Beach Experience.......2005-08-12
We used the Foghorn California Camping, Hiking and Beaches books during a trip to California. The beach book didn't let us down with places to eat and beaches to visit. When there are so many beaches to visit and places to eat, it can be hard to narrow down one's choices. The book steered us in the right direction. We had a great time and left with some colorful memories and pictures. Being from Colorado, our trip to California was all about satisfying a need to be near water and this book helped make it a fantastic experience.
I have never before written a review about a book on Amazon, but my positive experience with the Foghorn series has compelled me to do so.
author feedback to customer review.......2003-05-09
To Whom It May Concern:
This is not a review but a complaint. I am the co-author of the book in question, California Beaches. The very first customer review on your site is by someone who takes us to task for not being very good at steering surfers to beaches. If we purported to do so, that would be a valid criticism. However, our book is a broad-based guide to public beach access, and places to stay, eat and go out at night. Our book is about a lot of things, in fact, but it isn't, nor does it claim to be, a guide for the surfing cult. To be maligned for something we don't claim to be is unfair. Worse, this erroneous pan is the first review that people see when they come to your site to check out our book. Worse still, it was written about the first edition, which came out seven years ago. We have completely rewritten California Beaches twice since then, and the third edition has just been published. I admire the idea of posting reader feedback but see no reason why our chances of selling books on amazon.com has to be undermined by a review that bases its argument on a false assumption - that the aim of this book is to guide surfers to surfing beaches. I would therefore respectfully request that you remove it from the site. Sincerely, Parke Puterbaugh (Greensboro, NC)
broad overviews are entertaining, not a reliable source.......2000-09-25
As a local SoCal surfer, I found this book disappointing. The authors chose wit over accuracy. Although the book is a more interesting read than most guidebooks, it feels like it was written BY a tourist, not just FOR the tourists. It falls victim to tiresome cliches as though it were written purely from hearsay accounts of the locations, and not real experience. In addition - and I know surfing was not the main purpose of this book - the information regarding the surf conditions of the california beaches was also inaccurate and skimpy. Not very useful overall.
OK snapshot overviews, but not always consistent.......1999-10-24
I feel that the title is a misnomer. In my opinion, you go to the beach when you are south of Point Conception and you go to the coast when you are north of Point Conception.
The authors' approach of listing state, local and private facilites is helpful. I would have liked geologic information - for example descriptions of bottom conditions (ie sandy, rocky etc.). However, I realize that a consistent description is geologically impossible. So, I suggest that you get the California Coastal Access Guide as a companion volume and use both to "guesstimate".
Some of this book is available at the publisher's website for free. If at all possible, I suggest that you check out the commentary on the website for a beach and town that you know before purchasing this book. That will give you an idea of the the size of the grain of salt that you will need to take with the commentary. For the beaches and beach towns I know well, I come close to concurring with their opinions. However, I find many of their recommendations for food/lodging/nightlife rather rich for my taste and budget, so I'm looking elsewhere for this information.
The most comprehensive, funny, witty and intelligent ........1999-05-01
This book is not just a travel book, it's a social expose of all that is wrong (and right) with Califonia. These guys go beyond the specifics and get right to the heart of what it is like to try and navigate the wild and wooly world of Califonia, not just the beaches, but the guts of the place, too. Lots of funny boxes that I read aloud to my husband as we were driving made our trip infinitely more enjoyable! Best out there!

Product Description
This herculean saga of city building is a story not only of weather, place, beach and buildings but also of people-people with foresight, dedication and determination. In the mid-1920s, no one could have known that today's sophisticated city of Sunny Isles Beach would eventually emerge from what was then little more than a sandbar. Starting from the original vision of Harvey Baker Graves, the area developed into one of the nation's foremost tourist destinations and eventually into a great city. On the tenth anniversary of the city's incorporation, this collection of vintage and current images commemorates the beauty and uniqueness of the past and honors the city's founders, developers and citizens.

Florida's wilderness surprises.......2000-04-06
I have always enjoyed the beach, and when I saw Johnny Molloy's book I bought it immediately. It did not disappoint. With the book as my guide I made a grand tour of Florida's marvelous coastline. First, I started at St. Joe State Park, where I walked the wilderness beach backed by huge dunes. Then I headed south to Cayo Coasta State Park, whsere the ferry took me out to the quiet island getaway. After that, I crossed the peninsula and went to Sebastian Inlet, where the surfers entertained me as much as the excellent fishing. My final stop was at Fort Clinch, up near the Georgia border, where I toured the brick fort and enjoyed the beach here and on nearby Big Talbot Island. The best part was the smoothness of my vacation-it went off without a hitch, mostly due to the accurate research of Johnny Molloy. I plan to make another beach tour soon. Francisco Meyer, Atlanta, GA
