Customer Reviews:
Exactly what I wanted.......2007-09-26
The book came right on time and I saved $10 compared to the school bookstore price.
Pages Missing.......2007-09-25
The description for this book said that it was in good condition, however, when I went to the appendix to study word roots, probably the most important section of the whole book, I found all of the pages I needed had been torn out! Essentially, this made the book worthless and I ended up having to borrow one from a friend.
Medical Terminology Simplified: A Programmed Learning Approach By Body Symstems.......2007-01-21
This was very helpful in learning the correct spelling and pronunciation of medical terminology.
Great system for learning terminology quickly.......2006-06-16
I am a midwifery student and I needed to learn medical terminology. This book is set up like a workbook. You can fill it in as you go. By filling in the blanks, making up flash cards, and taking the quizzes, I was able to learn a lot of medical terminology in a short amount of time. Much of the terminology in medicine is very logical, using root words, suffixes and prefixes. If you learn these, you can figure out the meaning of a lot of medical terms. Filling in blanks (especially when a lot of the answers are obvious) may seem redundant and like busy work, but by using more modalities for your learning process (auditory as you listen to the cd's, visual as you read, tactile as you write), you learn it so much more quickly and easily. There were some typos in the book and a few frames that were written incorrectly or in a confusing manner but not many. If you pay attention, you will catch them. I would advise the editors to do a better proofreading job in the next edition. This book is totally worth it if you are just starting out in the medical field. It is basic terminology but it will give you a great start. The book also covers some pathological, diagnostic, and therapeutic terms, as well as a section where you can practice reading sample medical records. Make sure you buy a book that is not filled in so you can fill it in yourself and get the most out of it.
Excellent service!!!.......2006-05-16
I bought this book from John Kitts, and the service/communication with him was really pleasant. The quality of the book was excellent. It was really like new, at a good price and it included brand new audio CD?s with it as the add said.
Thanks a lot John!!!

Learning Veterinary Terminology.......2002-08-23
This book was a great help during my Veterinary Assistant class. My Teacher, who is also a Vet Tech, told it was a must. It helped us break down terms, learn anatomy and body systems.
Great book........2001-08-19
I am working in a Vet clinic and for the past 5 years have wanted to learn more. This book really hepls me understand all the "doctor" words. All in all its a great book!!
THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL!.......2001-08-13
I had waited to buy this book for a while and finally purchased it recently. I'm an 18 year old pre-veterinary medicine major. I found this book amazing!! It not only teaches you the terminology required to understand veterinary medicine but also teaches you anatomy of a wide variety of animals and also is somewhat of a veterinary dictionary because at the end of most chapters there is an exceptionaly good glossary of terms used. It also uses methods such as croosword puzzles and word finds along with other tools to make learning easier! If your a pre-vet major or vet student get this book!! It's a bargain for all you get.
An Excellent Way to Learn Veterinary Vocabulary!.......2001-01-13
I am in my first year in a Veterinary Technician program. Although I also work in an animal hospital, there were still many terms I had never even heard before! This book has an excellent way of breaking down each word--by root word, prefixes, and suffixes. It is such an easy way to learn the terms and comprehend their true meanings. Each chapter has its own self-tests (and answers) to further your understanding of the vocabulary. There is also a section in the back of the book that includes general information of every system in the cat/dog/horse. I loved this section when reviewing for quizzes and exams!
Those interested in Vet. Medicine will appreciate this book.......1999-04-27
This book is a very thorough dialog on veterinary terminology. Be advised that after reading this book you will DEFINITELY be able to determine what your veterinarian is talking about when he doesn't use layman terms (in other words, you will definitely learn a lot from this book). The book itself is not intimidating and it does have some very good ways of learning the information. However, it does get very technical, so you might want to forgo it if you're not up to studying.

Customer Reviews:
Great...so far.......2007-09-27
I have had this book a few weeks now and have used it quite a bit. My certification exam isnt until January but I passed my school exam with flying colors. I think it really helped! I would recommend it. Actually my instructor recommended it to me.
Delmar Medical Assisting Exam Review.......2006-09-02
I used the Delmar Medical Assisting Exam Review. I would not recommend this book to anyone that doesn't have a lot of medical knowledge. Unless they have made a lot of corrections, there are many, many errors in this material. I was lucky enough to catch a lot of them (who knows how many I missed?). There were enough mistakes that if you went by what was published, you could possibly fail your certification exam. I did call them about the errors, but they really didn't seem interested in knowing exactly what the errors were. They just said if I returned the book, with my sales receipt, they would refund my money. Well I was out whatever I paid for the book because I no longer had my receipt. So if you do purchase this book, just keep in mind that some of the info may not be correct.

Customer Reviews:
Does the job when in a bind.......2005-10-17
I'm a triage nurse at a children's hospital. I've been using this book for about a month. It does contain some pediatric spanish, just not enough to get a thorough history. Like "How much Tylenol did you give?", and "when was your child's last bowel movement?". I looked everywhere for these questions, which are very common things to ask, and could not find them any where. This book contains most history questions and does a quick history when in a bind. I've not found a better book, but I haven't looked everywhere either.
A REAL LIFE SAVER!.......2004-07-15
I am an intern at a busy county hospital with a large number of Spanish speaking patients. Unfortunately, I can't speak Spanish. Waiting for a translator can take hours (if they ever come at all.) Lucky for me someone sent me this book. I was amazed at how user-friendly it was. When you're in the ER, for example, you don't have time to look up individual words in a Spanish/English dictionary. This book translates entire questions, and has phonetic spellings to make sure you are pronouncing the words correctly. Also, each section is broken down by organ system and then chief complaint. For example, let's say a patient presents with chest pain. You would look under chest and then chest pain. Next, it might give you the following questions with the corresponding translations:
Can you point to where it hurts?
How long does the pain last?
Is it worse with exertion?
Is it relieved by rest?
Does the pain radiate to your arm/jaw?
Does the pain make you break out in a sweat?
Is the pain relieved by nitroglycerin?
Etc......
In other words, it sticks to relevant questions and flows pretty much the way you would want it to. It is also very easy to skip around through various sections picking and choosing what you want to ask. I would say that I can get about 85-90% of the relevant history without having to get a translator to clarify. A real life saver!
Extremely useful and practical.......1999-01-08
Great resource to use in the rapid evaluation and treatment of Spanish speaking only patients. It is written in an easy to follow format and prompts me to ask the right questions when evaluating a patient.

Spanish for Medical Personnel, 6th ed. review.......2006-08-19
This text was used for a course at a community college in Texas. Having lived on the border (and Spanish being my 3rd language), I respectfully disagree with anyone who says this book/CD is "worthless." I took the course to be able to communicate better as both a licensed massage therapist and certified pharmacy technician. My teacher was super, and I look forward to another class with her. The twenty lessons, six appendices, and both Spanish-English and English-Spanish vocabulary lists, cover almost every medical situation one can imagine, from emergency room to diabetic dietary consult. Por favor,¡estudie más!
Medical info for Spanish speakers.......2006-04-26
These CD's are USELESS. I'm not sure who could benifit from buying this. There is no English spoken. You will have no idea if this is even Medical spanish unless you are already fluent in medical spanish. I speak a little spanish and was pissed that I wasted my time and money on these CD's. After going through the first CD I fast forewarded every CD just to see if maybe more was said later, but no. There is no explination in English of what is being said on the CD's.
DON'T WASTE YOU'RE MONEY. If you really want it...you can buy mine.

This book lives up to it's title- it is easy to read, follow, and learn
Just what I needed.......2006-01-03
I found this book excellent and just what I needed for use in a big children's hospital and for an upcoming mission trip to Latin America. Good price and delivered quickly.
Customer Reviews:
Surprisingly good.......2007-01-26
I was not expecting this book to be so helpful. This book breaks down medical terms into root words. This means that as long as you know the root, you will be able to understand new medical terms (even if they are not in the book!). I was surprised how much I learned from this book. It has excellent coverage of all fields of medicine. The book has flashcards, but the real strength is the practice exercises. I sometimes refer back to the book (instead of a dictionary) because it tells you why the word is used. This book is good for anyone wanting to learn some medical terminology on their own. The chapters are manageable; I was able to work through all of the exercises in a month.
Customer Reviews:
easiest class i've ever taken........2006-07-10
i haven't been in school for a while and was apprehensive of how well i'd do in school again. so i went to my local college i took a couple of pre-requisite classes for medical transcriptioning. this books/system was used for the medical terminology.
it was very information filled but not overwhelming. it has 100 percent retention expectation. and i have made 100's on my tests so far, one more to go. it gets a little repeative at the end but other than that, i can't complain. you learn so much without feeling stressed, compared to the other class i'm taking.
i was looking to see what other books he offers on different subjects because i was so impressed with the program and thought i'd share my opinion.
