Customer Reviews:
Great if you have no idea how to use the equipment.......2007-08-05
This book is well-written and easy to read. It does a decent job of explaining how to use most of the ophthalmic gadgets. I suspect, however, that if a medical student or resident never reads a book like this, they can still learn the gagdets on the fly.

Customer Reviews:
Handy reference.......2007-06-11
This is a great pocket guide for quick review of current guidelines of common IM diagnoses.
internal medicine pocket guide.......2007-05-20
It is a perfect pocket sized book. But I was hoping for a little more detail or subject range.
Dr. Mahmoud Nikoueiha, MD.......2007-04-12
This is by far the best book I have read in the Internal medicine review field. The residents and students will find this book very helpful in their daily basis in the hospital. It is written to prefection and you will not be able to put it down once you start reading it. A truly well written book.
Resident, Sac.......2007-03-03
This book is a must have. It just gives everything you need to know or want to order!! For example, if u want to rule out adrenal insufficency with Cosyntropin stimulation...it gives you how and when and what to order !!
Very handy, concise supplement to Ferri's Guide.......2005-01-28
This handbook is a perfect complement to Washington Manual and Ferri's Guide. It probably could not, and should not, be used as a stand-alone guide but as a peripheral brain it is just small enough, light enough and packed with enough information about the more common conditions to be considered as yet another weight to add to your coat pocket.
It has some strong chapters, such as Infectious Disease and Cardiology but hardly anything on Oncology and Endocrinology. In the effort to contain topics to 1 or 2 pages, the authors obviously could not pack as much information as one would want, but then that's what textbooks and PDAs are for.
Overall, very useful during rounds and when on house officer call.
Book Description
Teaching During Rounds is a compact, practical handbook designed to help attending physicians and residents improve their teaching skills, specifically in the context of medical rounds. Donn Weinholtz and Janine Edwards focus on the types of rounds usually encountered on inpatient services in departments of internal medicine or pediatrics, but the general principles they elaborate may be applied elsewhere.
Customer Reviews:
Outstanding.......2005-04-21
This small, easily read book is absolutely outstanding. I found it really helped me to focus my efforts to teach learning physicians within the context of providing clinical care. Though some of the specifics don't fit my area of practice, the concepts outlined are exceptional and could be applied by any academic physician taking his or her teaching responsibilities seriously. It should, perhaps, be mandatory reading for all beginning academic physicians. If you're a teaching physician, read this book, give it some thought, and make yourself a better teacher.
Doctors Do It On Rounds!.......2002-02-12
Teaching during rounds is one of many tasks academic physicians accomplish during a busy work day. This neat little soft cover book contains many helpful tips for attending physicians and residents who are involved in the education of medical students. The authors address teaching in a variety of areas such as the bedside, the hallway, and the conference room. The last chapter nicely summarizes the recommendations given in each of the preceding chapters for both attendings as well as residents. Overall, this is a useful text for those with an interest in improving their teaching skills. Its main drawback is a lack of depth in most topics in the book.

Customer Reviews:
Frm some1 w/an A on EM rotation + EM residency of my choice.......2004-05-13
This is an awesome book. Everyone doing an EM rotation or interested in EM residency needs to buy this book and memorize it from front to back. I wanted to do well on my EM rotation. When I started, they gave me Tintanelli and said read it (yup in 4 weeks!) So I bought the Tintanelli study, and that was too big, and then I bought the even smaller tintanelli pocket, that that was too big and then I bought NMS emergency medicine and that was too dry and not practical. Then, I stumbled across this book. I was half way through the rotation, had two weeks with a busy work schedule and I simply read this book, made flashcards on all of it, memorized them and aced the exam. My conclusion is that as a student or starting out, you have to prioritize your time. Your choice is to know alot about one or two things (pick up tintannelli) or you can know a good, working, basic level about everything, (do what I did and memorize this book). It doesn't stop you from also reading Tintannelli on subjects you are particularly interested in, or Rosen's 5 minute when you are working, or anything else for that matter, but to not read and memorize this book is doing yourself a disservice if EM is your interest and you are just starting out because it covers everything you need to know in a readable, practical way. Good luck.
Don't waste your money.......2002-06-12
I am sick of these "pearl" books. These pearls, if worn, will turn your neck green. Obviously little effort was put into the production of this collection of tid bits. You can learn more medicine by watching one epispode of "Scrubs". Don't waste your money.
Keep it in your pocket........2000-04-05
This is essential reading for fourth year medical students and for interns. The book covers some of the basics in Emergency Medicine, things that you'd write down when your senior decides to teach. You can read it in one or two sittings before you start and keep it in your pocket for quick reference. The book is not comprehensive, but what do you want for a pocket primer (it actually fits in your pocket). I highly recommend it.
very informative and interesting.......2000-03-04
Although this book appears geared toward medical professionals, as a layperson, I found it fascinating and very informative. People from physicians to "ER" fans should find it interesting and valuable. For example, a person suffering from back pain can turn to the chapter on that topic and be more informed when talking with her doctor.
Book Description
Extensively revised and updated, the New Edition of this user-friendly guide provides quick answers to the diagnostic and therapeutic questions encountered on a daily basis. Includes new and expanded chapters on the techniques of common ICU procedures, medications, nutrition, anesthesia, and more. Plus, an organ system organization makes reference easy!
Book Description
Residency is a defining period in a physician's life because it is the decisive stage for personal growth, intellectual challenge and emotional stress. It is a major transitional period transforming a medical student into a practice-ready physician. This role-change for the physician-in-training usually takes place in a new setting and necessitates coping with conflicting demands, heavy responsibility and long work hours. Adding to the residents' burden is the ongoing need to manage their financial, social and work demands. This manual was designed to help medical students on this final critical segment of their journey to become practicing physicians. It will enhance the students' awareness of the potential obstacles along the way and provide them with guidance on how to avoid them. The book includes: selecting an appropriate specialty, maximizing the chances of being selected, surviving residency and beginning practice.

An indispensable guide to preparing and successfully passing the USMLE Step 2 CS. Contains a comprehensive discussion of important topics in an easy-to-follow FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) format with confidence-building strategies in handling difficult situations and challenging questions from standardized patients. Aside from thirty-five mock exam cases, complete with corresponding patient notes, it also has a generous list of IMG resources including related books, CDs, DVDs, and review courses; relevant online sites and discussion boards; observerships and a list of IMG-friendly hospitals. Also covers immigration, travel and other related issues.
Customer Reviews:
Inferior.......2006-11-22
This book is definetely a bad choice. The FAQ format is uncomfortable. The cases are written insufficiently. The closure part is very poor. All parts of the interview has to be elaborated. Chalenging questions are not answered. IMG-friendly hospital list is useless - this is a trivial information and can be obtained online.
Shortly - I dont recommend it at all.
The idea was good, the result is mediocre........2006-03-07
The book is written as in a great haste.
The cases have no real background and the DD & work-up is at leat questionable. Plus, in many cases, there are discrepancies between what is written for an SP and what we can later read on the PN.
Whether you are an IMG or not (doesn't make that much of a difference on the exam anyway), there are better books out there to prepare you for Step 2 CS.
A must have!.......2005-11-13
If you are a IMG like me and serious about passing the Step 2 CS and wants to make your life easier, then try this book. The general information simplify the whole process and the Mock exam format is indispensible. It has even the list of an IMG friendly hospitals in the appendices! Now I can appreciate that.

Best review book out there for Step 2 CS!!.......2005-11-10
In my preparation for USMLE Step 2 CS, I have found this book to be the most useful. It breaks down each step of the interview and physical exam process. The chart of the 35 most commonly seen cases was an added bonus. It is loaded with additional information that isn't provided in the others sources outh there. Some extra materials include: lists of questions to ask to ask by body systems (cardiovascular, GI, endocrine, CNS), flashcard study materials for differentials and typical tests to order, and it even provides IMG friendly hospitals and possible observerships to check out. I particularly like the challenging quesitons posed at the end of each case. This has enabled me to better prepare for the typical cases I will see on the day of my exam. In my opinion, this is the only book any medical student (american or international) would need to adequately study for the exam and do well on it. I would highly recommend it!!I look forward to future books from this author, specifically a Step 1 or Step 2 review book.
