This book was what I was looking for , however I would like some guidance as to how many hours per year is
considered average . Also , there was no 2006 Kubota section.

Has data for tractors only. NOt loaders or other options. Not as complete as is could be. Missing popular tractors as Kubota b7610 for a couple years. Only one example but not very complete.

The 3 year old who received this after Christmas reports great delight, and has demanded many re-reads of his "John Deer" book - but remains surprised there are "no deer" in it ! Recommended for 3 year olds of all ages, including Grandpas/Grandmas who like "Deeres" too.
Fun on the Farm.......2006-06-17
This book is wonderful especially if your child loves farm machines. Every since we received the book, we have had to read it several times during the day. It is great the way the machines work together. Their names are fun and memorable - Johnny Tractor, Allie Gator, and Corey Combine. A great book for any little farmer enthusiast!

Well written but..........2007-09-22
I agree with the other reviewer that this book is very well written and is inspiring to read about a company that almost tanked but managed to come back to life. However, the working environment the book portrays that the company has is completely fiction. As someone with intimate knowledge of the company's operations, I can speak to the environment which is neither inspiring nor motivating. The company is very dictatorially managed by a CEO who has surrounded himself with many yes men and one yes woman. Once Joe moves on, this company is probably in some serious trouble if this group is left to manage it as they couldn't find their way to the boardroom without Mapquest. So enjoy the book for the non-fiction parts like the history and timeline, but as the saying goes, don't believe everything you read which would apply to the portions that relate to inspiring and motivating employees who work there and what a great working environment it is. The author clearly used creative licensing with those portions.
Astonishingly well-written, very thorough.......2007-09-07
I've read thousands of books. Honestly, this was the first time that I finished and wanted to contact the author and thank him for doing such a great job.
I can't imagine the time, effort, and resources that had to go into writing this book. The history, the timelines, the personalities. I especially enjoyed reading about the machinations of acquisitions, how sometimes BIG decisions were made on the fly, and how a tight management team can accomplish just about anything. Just a marvelously well-written book.
Anyone in business will enjoy reading about the growth, almost demise, and resurgence of a company with humble beginnings.

I would have given it 5 stars, but............2006-11-10
the battery is now dead, because my sons have played with the book SO MUCH. AND........ you cannot replace the batteries......WHAT??! I couldn't believe it when I found that out. It says right on the back of the book, "Batteries cannot be replaced." Ugggh. The boys were SO bummed! They still play with it though, making their own sounds and of course, we still read it together and they can still turn the steering wheel and pretend. I guess it actually still makes some sort of noise when you press the horn...sounds like something crashing or something. At least it's not moaning anymore like it was when the battery first started to die! LOL!
Anyway, it lasted around 8 months with a 3 yr. old and an 18 month old playing with it (their ages now).
Just thought you should know about the battery thing. Still a really cool book though.
Fantastic Tractor Book!.......2004-05-09
My son received this book for Christmas and I just cannot thank that person enough for it. He just loves this book! The horn the steering wheel has is just so neat and I hear that thing going at the strangest times too (like at 3:00 a.m. when he rolls over on it in bed...). It has gone many, many places and my son just cannot get enough of it. It has all the brands too - Deere, Farmall, harvester, etc. and explains how the tractors work the fields and take the products to market. Great, great book - don't hesitate on this one!

WE got this out of the library and my 21/2 year old loves it. He began naming all the machines after only having it read to him a few times. He saw it in the library again and began asking for. I love the rhymes. We are buying a copy!!!!

Tremendous Tractors tell about all of the jobs that a tractor can do. We learn that it is used to plow fields, cuts grass, bales hay and lots more. The famers in ths book are all colorful animals!
The pictures are very colorful. In back in has a page where it explains tractors parts if you are not familiar
With some of the words used in the book.
I would recommed this book to children ages 4-7. Lots of kids like to read about things on the farm.

This is a very informative book with lots of good color photos and descriptive, but not model specific info on evaluating,tear down,inspecting and repairing componants. Each chapter is devoted to a seperate componant or system. The paint chapter focuses on selecting different types of paint,primers,sealers. There are suggestions on selecting and applying decals. I found a nice appendix with contact info for parts suppliers and clubs. I didn't see much about tractors made after the late 50's. This book would be a great companion to a detailed shop manual for someone who has little or no experience working on tractors. There is also a chapter that gives ideas on tools and tool selection.

My first farm toy was my dad's Product Miniatures Farmall tractor and wagon with McCormick-Deering decals. It was his as a child and has seen its share of play. That toy was also my inspiration for the improvements included in this 2nd edition.
In creating the 2nd edition of a popular title, the most important considerations for an author are the needs of the audience. I consulted with farm toy expert Kate Bossen and other enthusiastic farm toy collectors to make this edition more comprehensive and easier to use. It contains more than 1,800 new listings and several hundred new photos bring the grand total to well over 5,000 photos.
