Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

1 out of 5 stars Didn't work for my learning style .......2007-07-18

I have been wanting to raise chickens for a very long time. I had this book for almost two years before I actually got chickens, and having had them for a month now, I've decided to give up on this book as it has helped me very little. I would expect books like these to have a more engaged percpeption of nature.
Unfortunately disappointing for me.

5 out of 5 stars Nice and simple for the beginner.......2007-06-01

Good and simple book for the beginner. Helps you see that taking care of chickens is well within anyone's budget and time, no matter if you're living in the city or the country. Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens.......2007-05-12

The book was very concise and the information was very understandable. The layout of the book was excellent. It answered all of my questions. I recommend this book to those you are just beginning to raise chickens.

5 out of 5 stars Helped a city slicker like me.......2007-04-12

Being raised in a city and not knowing what a real chicken looked like,
I needed some help before engaging in my new hobby of raising chickens.
I bought this book upon recommendation from others and overall am very
pleased. The book covers a lot of topics, many of which are not applicable
to me (how to slaughter and remove feathers, showing your chickens) but
I am glad the info is in there. Some people complain that there are not
color pictures of various breeds, but I didn't need that and you can look
online for nice pictures. My chicks are now 8 weeks old and healthy and
I am sure I owe a lot of it to this book.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome source of info!!!.......2007-04-11

I bought this just after ordering my chickens from an online hatchery(which by the way had excellent customer service and all the chicks arrived healthy). I have read the book from cover to cover and feel confident that I will be able to raise healthier happier chickens because I have this book. The only thing I wish it had was colored photos of the different breeds. enjoy!!!

Book Description

Believe it or not, bees are one of the oldest species of domesticated animals. Archeologists have found evidence of beekeeping, or apiculture, in the Middle East dating back more than five thousand years. If you’ve ever tasted good clover honey, it’s not hard to understand why. But it’s not just for the honey that more than 125,000 people (and growing) in the United States, alone, keep hives. Anyone interested in nature can’t help but be fascinated by those buzzing yellow bundles of energy and the exotic world they inhabit, with all its weird rituals and incredible efficiency. Also, dedicated gardeners appreciate the extra bounty that pollinating bees bring to their fruits, flowers, and vegetable gardens.

In this easy-to-follow guide, Howland Blackiston, one of the nation’s most respected authorities on the subject, takes the mystery (and the sting) out of beekeeping. Taking a step-by-step approach to successful backyard beekeeping, he gets you up and running with all the information you need to:

Howland Blackiston covers all the bases, from bee anatomy, society, and behavior, to identifying and healing common illnesses afflicting bees. He also offers inventive solutions to most common and many uncommon problems you’re likely to run into. Among other things, you’ll discover:

For both fun and profit, beekeeping has become a booming enterprise. A real honey of a book, Beekeeping For Dummies gets you on the road to enjoying this ancient, highly-rewarding, and oh-so-tasty hobby.

There is not a single "tell all" book for beginner beekeepers, however this is a must in the beginner library. My recommendations are
#1 Beekeeping for Dummies by Howland Blackiston
#2 Beekeeping-A Practical Guide by Richard Bonney
#3 Hive Management by Richard Bonney
in that order.

5 out of 5 stars Beekeeping for Dummies.......2007-05-13

Probably the most informative book on beekeeping of the 4 I have. I refer to it more than the others when I have a question about how to do things and when to schedule them. Walks you through the process of installing bee packages, giving you all the information you'll need to know.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars a little technical for the amateur.......2007-10-05

This book has lots of good info., but I was hoping for more really basic duck help for the newbie, and instead there were pages and pages and pages of genetics, etc. I certainly found the book useful overall, but I wish it went into a little more detail on the most basic-type stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Raising Ducks.......2007-05-29

This book was just what I expected and answered pretty much all my questions on raising ducks that I have so far.

5 out of 5 stars Best duck book available.......2007-01-24

This book has something for everyone. If your buying ducks as pets or for a large scale operation this book will give you the knowledge you desire. It covers incubation, raising ducklings, feeders, waterers, housing, sanitation, breeds, behavior, genetics, anatomy of the duck, breeding, butchering, sexing, diet, and much more. Even more impressive than what this book covers in under 300 pages is how easy it is to read. Mr. Holderread has written book easy enough that a 12 year old can become a duck expert. If you are thinking or raising a couple ducks or hundreds this is the only book you will ever need.

5 out of 5 stars Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks.......2006-11-10

Ideal for someone with no experience of raising ducks. Covered everything and was easy to understand.

4 out of 5 stars Great for covering a small bit in all areas of ducks, .......2006-10-16

When I ordered this book I was looking for a really detailed book for the novice on rearing young ducklings for pets/eggs. This book covered a VERY basic bit (one small chapter on rearing ducklings) & after reading it I still felt like I didn't know enough about the actual rearing of baby ducklings. I also wanted photo's and info on the different types of waterers for baby ducklings and photo's of homemade brooders for small scale duck rearing. Which this book didn't have. I also wish this book had more information and more photo's of equipment needed for rearing mail-order ducklings. I felt that many parts of this book were more for those wanting to breed ducks on a bit larger scale. It has lots of information on duck genetic phenotypes, duck colors and basic duck genetics. Being someone who just wants a few ducks for pets, I felt this was a bit over my head and more for someone who wants to raise, show & sell ducks professionally.

In my opinion the best area of this book is the information on many different duck breeds. The information on the breeds included a description, varieties of the breed, selecting breeders, selecting & preparing each breed for show and some author comments.

Among the other info included in this book: butchering, duck health, showing, mixing rations and signs of vitamin and mineral deficiencies in ducks. There's also a nice chapter on predators of ducks. This book also has a nice Duck Breeder and Hatchery Guide source index which was very helpful.

Overall, I would buy this book again.

4 out of 5 stars Lots of good information.......2007-09-29

A great book for goat beginners-- lots of good, practical information. However, it does not seem geared toward those not pursuing the natural/organic approach to farming/livestock rearing, which we are. We're glad to have this book as a reference. But we are also glad to have a great friend who has been naturally/organically raising dairy goats for three decades as a good, solid resource for our "natural" questions.

5 out of 5 stars great book!.......2007-09-22

Good and reliable information. If you are looking for an all around book that accurately covers the bases, than this is it.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Place to Start.......2007-08-03

We were looking for information about goats. Milk is something we still buy from grocery stores and the possibility of making our own dairy products was interesting enough to look into. Not knowing anything about goats, we had to start somewhere.

I read the reviews below, and this looked like a good place to start. I can agree with much of what has been said by earlier reviewers, but still found this book to be worth the price and time to read. Yeah, it's not exhaustive - but I wasn't looking for the only reference on goats I'd ever need. It is directed towards dairy, rather than meat, and the information on handling milk and arranging work areas was useful. There was some discussion of the business aspects of dairy goats. A profitable business can require some hard decisions and callouse handling of livestock. These may not be some of the more pleasant aspects of raising livestock, but the author did not devote a tremendous amount of print to that aspect.

If you haven't raised goats and think there may be some possibilities, this is a good place to start.

5 out of 5 stars Very Informative!.......2007-05-11

This is a great book for the beginner, like me. It touches on everything from A-Z and I can't believe how much I learned from 1 book. It is an easy read, has a great glossary. I feel like when I buy my first goats, I'll know better what to look for & how to prepare for them.

5 out of 5 stars Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats.......2007-04-04

Probably the best investment for a new dairy goat owner or anyone considering owning a dairy goat. Lots of information on different breeds, housing, health problems, and general information. This long time favorite and backyard goat owners handbook has stood the test of time with good reason.

The facts speak for themselves. In 1857, the Central America, a sidewheel steamer ferrying passengers fresh from the gold rush of California to New York and laden with 21 tons of California gold, encountered a severe storm off the Carolina coast and sank, carrying more than 400 passengers and all her cargo down with her. She then sat for 132 years, 200 miles offshore and almost two miles below the ocean's surface--a depth at which she was assumed to be unrecoverable--until 1989, when a deep-water research vessel sailed into the harbor at Norfolk, Virginia, fat with salvaged gold coins and bullion estimated to be worth one billion dollars.

Author Gary Kinder wisely lets the story of the Columbus-America Discovery Group, led by maverick scientist and entrepreneur Tommy Thompson, unfold without hyperbole. Kinder interweaves the tale of the Central America and her passengers and crew with Thompson's own story of growing up landlocked in Ohio, an irrepressible tinkerer and explorer even in his childhood days, and his progress to adulthood as a young man who always had "7 to 14" projects on the table or spinning in his head at any given moment. One of those projects would become the preposterous recovery of the stricken steamer, and the resourcefulness and later urgency with which the project would proceed is contrasted poignantly with the Central America's doomed battle in 1857 to stay afloat.

Thompson, who spent nearly a decade planning and organizing his recovery effort, emerges as one of the great unsung adventurers of these times (the technical innovations alone required for such a task produced a windfall for the scientific community and defined a new state of the art for deep-sea explorers and treasure hunters), and the story of the steamer's sinking is compelling enough to make any reader wonder why the Central America sinking isn't synonymous with shipwreck in this Titanic-happy age. --Tjames Madison

    Book Description

The riveting true adventure and discovery of a gold-laden shipwreck and the scientific genius who recovered its treasure, while breaking the barriers of deep-ocean exploration.

In September 1857, the S.S. Central America, carrying 500 passengers and tons of gold from the California mountains, sunk in a hurricane 200 miles off the Carolina coast. Lost in legend for more than a century, the tragic story of this shipwrecked steamer resurfaced in 1989 when Tommy Thompson, an ocean engineer, sailed into Norfolk harbour with over ten tons of pioneer gold. Using a combination of oceanography, computer science and information theory, Thompson's team recovered mint-state coins, antique bars and sparkling gold dust from 8,000 feet below the surface of the sea -- proving everyone wrong who said it couldn't be done.

4 out of 5 stars What an Adventure !.......2007-09-21

This is an appealing book on many levels. 19th century sea adventure, heroes, tradegies, great survival stories, heart stopping excitement, 20th century high tech recovery adventures, interlopers and bottom feeding lawyers and insurance companies, it's got it all. Why 4 stars rather than 5 ? I found it a tad long after they found the boat and began that part of the story. But, that is a small point. Well worth the reader's time.

3 out of 5 stars Ship of Gold is a good story with excellent details about the recovery of the gold........2007-08-28

Ship of Gold is a good story with excellent details about the recovery of the gold.
In my next recovery book I will look for more diving experience. The ROV's do not have the same adventure value as the human diving experience we have on the North Sea but then again the North Sea is maximum 40 meters deep. We don't need ROV's at these depths.
I liked the sonar specialist story and the systematical scanning of the area's with the best values in the probability matrix.

5 out of 5 stars Hands down one of the best book ever! .......2007-08-20

This is by far the best book ever. I have purchased more copies then I can count and I have given it to all of my family members and most of my friends. All of them loved it. Even my mom told it was one of the best books she had ever read. Being she reads a book every two weeks that's a pretty good compliment.

This is a short book, but it takes a long time to read. It's not that it's a hard read; it's just that it's so good you will take your time to read it. Almost like savoring a great wine.

I don't recommend many books, but this one should be on the top of your reading pile. Once you read it you will understand why and I'm willing to bet you will recommend it to all of your friends.

4 out of 5 stars Good modern day treasure hunt.......2007-07-04

I liked the way the author took the reader back and forth from the past to the present. It was interesting to see how much planning and inguenuity it took to accomplish the recovery of the gold. Once the treasure was found, I have to admit to having a mild case of 'gold fever' due to the vivid descriptions provided by G. Kinder. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 is because of the Tommy (the technical mastermind of the recovery) praising!!!! Alright already, he certainly must walk on water, and if he doesn't, he'll surely invent a way to. Inspite of the Tommy factor, this is a good book.

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Nonfiction.......2006-12-28

When the Central America sank in 1857 she took 21 tons of gold and more than 400 souls to the bottom of the sea, including one of my ancestors. Kinder's incredible book weaves the tale of the shipwreck together with the story of the thrilling recovery more than 130 years later.

Ship of Gold is a fantastic book from historic and scientific perspectives. If you read this book, you will gain new insights about the Gold Rush and 19th-century sea travel; better yet, you will be amazed by the technological and biological advancements which were a direct consequence of Tommy Thompson's recovery.

I read Ship of Gold to fill in the details of an old family legend. I was pleased to discover a truly amazing work of nonfiction.

5 out of 5 stars I enjoy reading this book!!.......2006-06-16

After reading through the book, I feel motivated to buy some goats. I bought a ranch and was interested in goats, but have never dealt with them. I already have dairy cows and am planning to do cheese processing. This book was extremely helpful at giving knowledge in all areas from the different type of goats to expenses in raising goats. It mixes hard facts and data, like nuitritional contents of certain feed and the needs of a milking goat, to the more human side, like talking with your goats and how to reduce their stress. I think this book is well written in simple language by someone who understands what a novice needs to know to even try goat milking as a farm activity. This is a definite must book for neophytes like me.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent book that I had to own................2002-12-15

We have been around goats for decades, but have only recently in the past year gone the next step and begun to own Nubian goats for milk, cheese and brush removal purposes. And this is a great book if you are just getting started because it covered everything one needs to know before and after getting a goat or goats.

From housing, dairy goat rations, nutritional needs, goat management, choosing dams and sires (females and males), breeding and kidding (birthing), kid care, goat milk, udder care, health care, trouble shooting, and the overall benefits of keeping goats. And a section for those who want to have goats as a business i.e. milk, cheese, meat. And there is a good section on where to buy goats and supplies.

We live in the Sierras where we are encouraged to own goats for fire protection, since they are great at keeping brush clearer in high fire areas. And they are such wonderful animals to own and easily become members of the family.

1 out of 5 stars A little information, but mostly soft.......2002-10-18

This book provided me with a little information that I needed to know, but on the whole, was literary fluff. Luttman is sentimental and opinionated through out the book and has trouble stating facts. Even in a convincing way. For example, instead of saying that you 'cull' 'kill' or 'slaughter' an unneeded buck, she said that "you should do away with them". Avoid this book altogether, or borrow it from a local library, but if you need to buy one get Jerry Belanger's 'Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats: Breeds, Care, Dairying'

5 out of 5 stars An excellent reference for the dairy goat owner..........2001-06-10

I am new to raising goats, and found this reference book to be extremely useful. My Alpines are in a herd with the woman who boards my horses, so I am not completely on my own, but having this book allowed me to expand my knowledge without having to email my friend every two minutes with another question!

Luttermann's book covers pretty much everything a goat keeper needs to know about dairy goats, although having been published in 1986 it might be a little out of date with regards to supplementation of various minerals such as copper. However one can find that info in other places, and its lack does not negate the value of this book.

Bottom line, if you're getting into goats, you should buy this book!

5 out of 5 stars Raising Milk Goats Successfully.......2000-03-25

I ordered 3 different books about raising goats and this one was the best.. It covers everything. Nothing left out. It is easy to read and well organized. The other books were poorly written and did not cover all subjects. This is the only book you need.

    4 out of 5 stars The book is a no-nonsense, fact-filled resource........2003-07-01

I have a homestead in Peru (near Cusco / Machu Picchu). I wanted to raise my own meat; thus I bought a dozen chicks. As life dictates they grew and the day came for eating. I gave the first chicken to my housekeeper to kill and clean. She smothered the poor bird by holding its beak closed and plugging the nostrils. The suffocation process took about two struggling minutes. Not a good way to kill a bird, I thought. The second chicken was given to my hired hand, and he killed the bird by stretching its neck three times. Yes, a better method, but really, what do the professionals recommend? Thus, I initially bought "Storey's Guide to Raising Poultry", to find the most humane way to kill poultry.

The book is a no-nonsense, fact-filled resource. Written for those who are serious about raising poultry (chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, game birds and other poultry). Written by a professional poultryman, the book covers nutrition, disease, immunity, housing, breeding and management in a comprehensive manner.

The writing is clear, terse and complete. The diagrams and drawings are good. The book has a superb index, along with a good glossary, a list of associations, an appendix that gives you sources of supplies and equipment, and much more.

The descriptions of the breeds of poultry could be better. The one paragraph given to various breeds is inadequate for those who are unfamiliar with breeds (Wyandottes, Australorps, Araucans etc.). The feed section is bias towards commercially packaged feeds, and gives little to no information on homemade mashes. In Peru, we must make our own mash, or go without.

All-in-all, Storey's Guide it is a lot more book than I initially needed. But, after reading through the book, I was both impressed and intrigued enough to consider raising other types of poultry. Hum, maybe turkeys are next. I did use Mercia's recommended method for killing chickens (sever the jugular and insert knife for debraining) and must confess that killing a chicken, regardless of the methodology, is not my preferred hobby. Strongly Recommended

5 out of 5 stars If you only get ONE book for your poultry Library, THIS ONE.......2002-03-10

I picked this up at the public library to skim over and take back but after having it for just one week, I must have my own copy. The wonderful knowledge that is presented in easy to understand directions from all aspects of poultry. The nice part is they have instructions how to build most any poultry equipment you might need and this would be great for anyone, especially home schoolers.
    I am getting my copy.
