Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Piecing curved designs is often a quilter's nightmare, but Vikki Pignatelli's intriguing new technique can take the intimidation out of this daunting task. As presented in Quilting Curves, Pignatelli's method involves surface-pieced appliqué layering using freezer-paper templates and foundation stabilizer. Worked up gradually in jigsaw-puzzle fashion, the individual fabric elements emerge into grandly flowing, swirling designs. Thorough directions and complete pattern templates walk us through nine quilt projects; however, despite its relative ease compared to traditional curved piecing, this technique is best attempted by the more experienced quilter. The author also provides extensive discussions of free-motion stitching, finding design inspiration, working with color, and making templates, so intrepid souls can invent graceful curved-line quilts of their own. --Amy Handy

Book Description

Award-winning quiltmaker Vikki Pignatelli introduces a revolutionary method of quiltmaking that takes the time, trouble, and frustration out of making a perfect quilt. 5 out of 5 stars curves.......2005-09-26

I found the book very helpful. It explained in detail just how to piece a curve so that it looked just perfect. It had examples and small projects in which to try and increase one expertise. I would strongly recommed it to anyone interested in curves in quilting.

The technique had a small resemblence to paper piecing. The explainations were simple and easy to follow. A great book.

5 out of 5 stars Very Pleased!!!.......2004-05-19

I never quilted or sewed in my life until I was inspired by this book. (I did not even know what a "bobbin was!) I sat and read the entire book first, and by the time I was finished, taped together enough freezer paper to my wall to draw an 80x80 inch design. Yes, it took time, but since I read the book thoroughly, I already had answers to all the minute details that were required to make my quilt successfully. And yes, it was at least 200+ pieces. It was my first quilt and sewing project, and my friends and family were amazed. I think the process is worth it if you are looking for a unique, one of a kind design. Since then, I have made a second quilt by the same technique, and am currently staring a new one. Great reference guide. Good book for very creative people who can make their own designs; for those who have an idea in mind but don't know how to achieve it. BUT READ IT COVER TO COVER FIRST!!! By the way, I am working on a 1960 Singer sewer!

1 out of 5 stars defeated.......2003-11-08

I bought this book 2 years ago when I was very enthusiastic about learning to piece curves. I was on a very tight budget and saved for some time to afford the book, so was very excited when I finally got it. Once I started reading through the process, though, I became more and more discouraged.

The technique described does not appear to be simple or fast. In addition, the edges are very obviously top- or blind-stitched which results in a rather amateurish 'crafty' finish.

The simplest designs require a minimum of 40 - 60 tiny paper pieces that must be carefully traced out, marked and coded. They then must be cut out on fabric and matched to each other in order. Trying to be optimistic, I thought I'd give it a try, just to learn the method, so I started with the simplest project. I was defeated before I ever attempted to go to the trouble of making anything bigger.

The artist's work is beautiful and complex, but the designs offered as sample projects are unfortunately cheesy. To produce the kind of results the artist achieves must take literally hundreds of pieces. I was bored with the sample before I ever finished.

Although I greatly admire the artist's work, I was disappointed with this book and the tedious strenuous technique required for unsatisfying results. I look forward to a truly fast, easy and spontaneous technique in a curved piecing book, if there is one.

1 out of 5 stars I feel cheated.......2003-06-06

I bought this book thinking that the author would provide the pattern for the quilt on the cover, but she doesn't. She also doesn't provide any patterns for any of her better quilts. The few patterns that she does supply are too simplistic to be worth making. Also, it's not really piecing at all.

5 out of 5 stars Curves Made Easy!!!.......2002-03-22

I recently received this book as a birthday gift from my Amazon wish list. I read the entire book in just one evening and sat there wishing the fabric store was open at midnight! The technique Vikki uses is very easy and she breaks it down so anyone can do it. She has several patterns you can follow but she also gives you enough information ( and inspiration) to create your own curvy designs. The quilts look more like modern paintings than traditional block quilts and you are limited in design only by your own imagination. Finally, curves in quilting with no "puffy" seams! Thank you Vikki....

5 out of 5 stars "Bread Machine" an Excellent Point of Departure.......2006-05-22

A simply written summary of Libertarian economics. Therefore, a must read for the economics student. But that doesn't mean it's right.

The books' most fundamental statement reads,

"If we agree that man has a right to live, we must agree that man may use the mental and physical faculties to procure those means. Since the means (food, clothing, shelter, and the like) do not usually lie readily at hand, he must find or grow the food, manufacture the clothing and build the shelter. In short, he must produce." (at 140)

Amen. However, the book's premise is that government lacks the capacity to do anything to improve on the wealth creation and distribution process and can only get in the way. It thus seems to me blind to the most fundamental fact of all, that it is government that provides us with the protection from enemies to make it possible for us to fashion and enforce the laws which we believe will be the most conducive to the satisfaction of these needs. And it is only when entrepreneurs feel certain that such protections are in place that they are willing to undertake long-term projects.

Each generation is blessed with the advances of all previous generations, and so, the individual in reality owns nothing that has not been provided him by long-standing governments protecting the rights of generations to work on the effort.

5 out of 5 stars Freedom Works!.......2004-12-16

Why is it, in the whole history of mankind, he has lived a life of bare sustenance and then, almost over night, a few peoples suddenly found themsleves amidst vast riches never before dreamed of? The answer: Freedom! This book demonstrates, more clearly than most, the only path to material well-being is Free and Open Markets, Private Property rights, and the Rule of Law.

After reading this book, I kept asking myself: How is it so many men of supposed learning (college professors, news reporters, and entertainers) still believe the true path to wealth and human happiness runs through government? The only two answers I can come up with are: ignorance and/or stupidity!

Free men, acting by their own lights, have proved time and again they can produce the goods and services society demands. And, conversely, government continues to prove that it can only stand in the way of man's productive efforts! These facts have been made painfully clear each time some utopian, such as Stalin or Hitler tries to mold the perfect society, and in the process of molding that perfect society they have to slaughter millions of their countrymen! Yet professors still preach about the so-called "common good" and "economic justice" (whatever that means!) and the media pundits still "gobble it up" - the evidence notwithstanding. What are we to believe of the intelectual capabilities of these men? Well, I know what I believe - these are "easily winded champions!"

Why would anyone risk their intelectual, financial, or physical capital if tehre were no chance of a return commensurate with the risk incurred? The simple answer is: THEY WOULDN'T! and therein lies the ultimate reason why the Free Market/Private Property nations, while amounting to only a small share of the earth's population and resources, nevertheless, produces the lion's share of the earth's wealth!

Bottom line: a great, must read book, if you wish to gain an understanding of why some things are as they are and how they can be changed. I highly recommend the read!

3 out of 5 stars Dr. Zuess meets Ayn Rand.......2003-05-30

The vast majority of people, since time immemorial, favor insurance and dislike risk (and risk taking). That's how Warren Buffet got rich, and why the US leads the world in buying insurance. That's why people have centralized since the days of the Chinese emperors and Egyptian pharoahs. Economies of scale and lack of risk = Roosevelt style Big Brother government. It's what the people want--that's democracy. Wasn't it Mechken that said "Democracy is giving the people what they want--good and hard?"

Insofar as the poem goes, it's fun, "Dr. Zuess meets Ayn Rand" as somebody said. Not sure it's worth the price listed though.

5 out of 5 stars A Classic, One of the Most Exciting Books on Capitalism.......2003-03-19

The original version of this book was privately published back in 1966 and the two-part poem in the back pages of that edition -- the most complete version and also my favorite version of Richard Grant's provocative poem -- was copyrighted January of 1964! Commercial publishers wouldn't touch Grant's controversial manuscript back then -- but (luckily for us all) Grant's friend Richard Bray got it into print and available as an inexpensive grey softcover, complete with etensive footnotes and index. It sold by the thousands almost entirely on word of mouth. I am very glad for the current generation of libertarians and conservatives and Objectivists that Fox & Wilkes has made it available once more, as updated by the original author himself, in this edition. While I am not sure this new, revised edition actually surpasses the original IBM classic, that may be partly nostalgia on my part. But it is near enough to the original, with more modern examples to illustrate the timeless principles discussed, that it remains one of the all-time classics on liberty, private property rights, and free-market capitalism.

This book discusses some of the misconceptions about capitalism, such as the "robber barons" and the Great Depression and goes on to challenge prevailing assumptions about the need for government intervention in the private affairs and voluntary (market) relationships of peaceful people. It identifies the three basic principles of a free society, applying them to contemporary issues including education, the environment, Michael Milken, Bill Gates, altruism, the dangerous intellectual, "compassion" in government, and much more. The book includes excellent distillations of some of the best insights and ideas from such key figures and writers of the modern pro-freedom cause as F. A. Hayek, Ludwig von Mises, Ayn Rand, Andrew J. Galambos, Murray N. Rothbard, and Henry Grady Weaver. It is a "must read" for anyone who wants a good, lucid introduction to the case for individual freedom in a social context and a policy of laissez faire imposed on government. Although it is hard to identify one single book that I could recommend to anyone (such as a high school or college student) as a "first book" on the freedom perspective, this would probably be that book.

5 out of 5 stars A simple primer on freedom and capitalism and why it works.......2001-05-17

My copy of this book dates back to the '70's. It pops to mind often when the more Liberal of our politicians try to solve economic discomfort through law.

The joke that was the 'deregulation' of utilities in California, and the laughable solutions to higher oil prices offered by Democrats today make this book must reading.

The problem is that since this book was written our children have received less and less education in economics, Americans actually believe left wing politicians who say they can manipulate the laws of supply and demand to the peoples' advantage.

Chuck out the heavy reading of Adam Smith and Von Mises, this simple and concise book should be required reading in all High Schools. It may be the clearest and most easily understandable case for free markets in print.

Spare us your suicide tactics WILL YOU??? Tell the truth for once WILL YOU?? About your getting kicked out (sued) of half the states in the union for your reckless tactics... And your damned suicide tactics of telling people to go ON MARGIN and lose their cash twice as fast with your damned stupid reckless ideas...
Every broker on this planet laughs your foolishness out of the building!

Why don't you restore ALL THE PEOPLE YOU MAIMED WITH YOUR TACTICS???

5 out of 5 stars AAAA+ Great Book WADE. I fired my boss, Thanks WADE!.......2005-10-04

The fact is, you can create a great income by using Wade Cook's winning strategies. The stock market will always be around. How is your company doing? Do you feel safe? I didn't. that is why I left.

[...] The only problem is that they are copycats and all they know is what they stole from Wade Cook. As a result, they will always be playing catch-up. Prior to 1995, who else was talking and teaching covered calls, stock splits, buy the option as a play in itself instead of the usual way and so on? Answer: NO ONE!

And if you want the facts about Wade, go to his website wadecook.org. To paraphrase what a famous man once said; "The rumors of Wade Cook's demise have been great exaggerated."

You may not enjoy the same success that I and others have had, or you may do even better. The greatest testimentof Wade's techniques lies in the fact that I have several friends who lost their homes in New Orleans and other parts of the southeast, moved but are still generating income from the stock market by using Wade's techniques. Meanwhile others, less fortunate, lost their homes and their income.

5 out of 5 stars Powerful strategies to cash flow the stock market.......2005-10-04

The first time I heard about Wade Cook was at a real estate seminar that I attended in Florida many years ago. Cook was a guest speaker and was disclosing his techniques on how to cash flow real estate. I tried his techniques in concert with other strategies that I picked up from that seminar and some other books like Robert Allen's Nothing Down and flipped a no money down deal in a month and made a nice $10,000 profit.

Many years later, 1997 to be exact, I was browsing a bookstore in Orlando, Fl and came across this book by Wade Cook. To be blunt, trading in the stock market scared me. Up to that point, I had been only a mutual fund investor and felt that individual stocks were only for the extremely sophisticated who could watch the market every day, all day long.

But this was a book written by Wade Cook. I remembered him fromt hat real estate seminar and I remembered how effective his techniques worked for me. And he was talking stock market strategies that were very similiar to what he taught in his real estate programs. So I bought the book.

Boy was I nervious. My first play was a 3/2 stock split play on a bank stock. I invested $250 on only one contract (last of the big spenders huh?) Three weeks later, post-split that option was now worth $1500! Do the math and figure out that rate of return.

Next I bought a railroad stock that was doing a 3/1 split. I made $4,000 in three weeks!

Then I invested in Schwab and Wade Cook's stock, both of which were doing stock splits at the same time. Again, I averaged 1,000%+ returns in weeks!

Then I bought into a drilling company that was also doing a 3/1 stock split. You guessed it! I bought the options post split this time. The stock ran from $25 to $40 in a month. One mistake I made with this play was that I held on too long as the stock started to pull back. But I still sold at a nice profit.

So I was sold, sold, sold on Wade Cook. My best play was on Amazon.com (AMZN) I made $7,000 in three days on a 3/1 for stock split. My $15 options soared to $8,500! I felt like I had the Midas Touch and was on cloud nine!

Later I played DELL and LUCENT and made in some cases $1,000 a day on stock splits using options and having very little money tied up.

On the other hand, I knew people who were losing money on stocks like IOM, CPQ, NOVL and others. My mutual funds were still doing well too. The fund I bought @ $7 was now up to nearly $45. So I knew that there was something other than luck in play here.

What impressed me about Wade was his constant beating that the stock market is very risky. To paper trade first and start with small amounts of money and only with play money, don't use retirement money or rent.mortgage or food money.

His strategies still are working for me today. And speaking of the strategies, they really are nothing new. Many investors knew about stock splits, option plays, covered calls and so on. Wade Cook just refined and fine tuned the strategies and delivered them to the masses while others kept this to themselves.

Aside from stock splits, I have also done well with the covered call strategy as well. A great way to generate cash flow from your stocks. Rolling stocks have also made money for me. But caution, these you have to get in and out of very quickly. The section 29 tax credit stocks were also a great strategy when they were offering tax credits and pay butt killer dividends. Great for your IRA, but you have to be careful with these as well and any stock for that matter.

I would recommend Wade's newer books which have updated strategies for the times such as Wall Street Money Machine Vol. I, III, III, IV, V and VI and Wade's newest book Stock Market Money Machine. And of course I also recommend Wades real estate book Real Estate Money Machine.

If this book is so great whay all of the negative reviews? In my opinion, there are a couple of reasons:

1) Some people who know these strategies work are afraid that if
the masses find out, they will lose their effectiveness. In
other words, they want to make money and the heck with you.

2) Many of these people are Wade Cook imitators and in many
cases, former employees of Wade Cook.

3) Some are stock brokers who prefer that you pay them a comm
for their brilliant advice which has your portfolio bleeding
RED!

4) Discount brokers in particular don't like Wade Cook because
he recommends full service brokers and explains why a full
service broker can make you more money and actually cost you
less in the long term.

5 out of 5 stars Funny thing I noticed............2005-10-02

I was doing some independent research on WADE COOK. I had heard about him from a friend who is making some OBSCENE MONEY in the stock market with WADE COOK'S TECHNIQUES. So before I came here, I did a google on Wade and read all of the negative fluff against the man. Guess what else I found? Every supposedly negative complaint against WADE COOK was a website which also sold products similiar to what Mr. Cook sells. They were selling seminars and after bashing Wade Cook they conveniently sell you on the idea that if you want something that works, CLICK HERE and you'll get the information you need. Who is this guy trying to kid? Does he think we just fell off the tulip truck?

Two of the websites I checked had links to brokerage firms! HELLO!!!!

All of the negative complaints were listed as "anynomous" or R.K. or something else. In other words, they were creating their own negative stories against Wade Cook. Isn't it obvious what these clowns and flat out liars are trying to do? It sure is obvious to me.

Well I don't know about you, but they made me even more positive about Wade Cook and even more negative about them.

5 out of 5 stars Don't listen to those 1 star stock brokers.......2005-10-02

Doesn't it seem just a little funyy that people are still giving this great classic by Wade Cook a 1 star, bash him and still insist that cook went bankrupt and is no longer in business?

(...)

This one tells the truth about what Wade Cook is really doing now. That other websites sends you to another website which leads you to investing seminars by one of Wade's competitors.

Regarding stock market investing, it is a very risky business. there are no guarantees. You don't see these same 1 star reviewers (really just one person reposting over and over and over and over. Gary Walls no doubt. Ask Mr. Walls why his tabloid website which mercilously attacked Wade Cook and was filled with lies got shut down) Notice that this same 1 star reviewer never wants to talk about all the crimes occurring on wall street. How many brokers and mutual fund managers have been busted?

Brokers don't want you to read this book either. Then want you to go to them for their expertise. The fact is the reason these guys are called brokers is because they make your accounts get broker! Discount brokers in particular are very nervious about Wade. These guys are hanging on to their job's by a thread as it is and along comes Wade Cook teaching people that you can save and make more money by using a full service broker. It's sort of like getting better nourishment from a restaurant that carefully prepares a meal for you (full service)as opposed to a fast food restaurant (discounted) where it appears to cost less, but????

I am sure that the 1 star hysteria will continue and I am sure that the deleting of five star reviews like this one will also continue. And I am sure that tabloid like websites like Gary Walls now defunct website will continue. As long as some people like to read garbage, parasites like Gary Walls (now using another name and not surprisingly going after another best selling author) will continue.

My question is, what good does it do? Wade Cook is still around and strong. The other best selling author has gone far beyond what Wade Cook has ever done and he is getting bigger, bigger, bigger and bigger.

This 1 star reviewer should stick to using Wade's advice (successful investors have been applying Wade Cook-like techniques for years, long before they became fashionable), read and assimiliate Wade Cook's advice and strategies, forget the tabloid websites and then he will start making some serious money and maybe even for at least once in his, feel good about himself and do something good for mankink.

Excellent book. Well written and encouraging for anyone who's ever dreamed of making a life, as well as a livelihood, pursuing a task you love.

One of the three best "how-to" books I've ever read, along with The Owner-Built Home and The Self-Sufficient Gardner.
