Book Description

Why is it that our current twenty-first century a.d. is so similar to the twenty-first century B.C.? At a time when religious fanaticism and a clash of civilizations raise the specter of a nuclear Armageddon, many ask: Is history destined to repeat itself? What does the future hold? Will biblical prophecies come true, and if so, when?

Ever since Zecharia Sitchin, in his first trailblazing book The 12th Planet, brought to life the Sumerian civilization and its record of the Annunaki—the extraterrestrials who had come to Earth from their planet Nibiru, fashioned mankind, and gave us civilization and religion—questions have abounded. Are the ancient gods still here, or did they leave? Will they return? What will happen then? Will there be another Deluge or Apocalypse when Nibiru meets Earth? What about “Planet X” and the Mayan 2012? What about Jesus?

In The End of Days, a masterwork that required thirty years of additional research, Sitchin dares to give the answers by presenting compelling new evidence that the Past is the Future—that mankind and its planet Earth are subject to a predetermined cyclical Celestial Time.

Tracing historical events from the messianic fervor and use of nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century B.C., Sitchin resolves ancient enigmas like the Nazca Lines or the origin and significance of the Cross, the Fishes, and the Chalice, places in context the events of the Last Supper and hidden clues like those in Da Vinci's painting, explains the space-related reasons for the everlasting centrality of Jerusalem, and—following in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton—deciphers the Time Code in the books of Daniel and Revelation and of the Day of the Lord and the End of Days prophecies.

In this remarkable and relevant conclusion to his bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, Sitchin shatters perceptions and uses history to reveal what is to come at The End of Days.

1 out of 5 stars Awesome FICTIONAL work........2007-09-26

What a great story! From a purely fictional point of view that is. But please don't take Mr. Sitchin seriously. Yes, he's done a lot of work and he's very passionate and I believe HE believes all that's in his books. But if you want facts, follow the work of true scholars.

There are plenty of reviews on this book and even more opinions I'm sure.

What's more important than a review is a call to reason. People - please... Just because you want or need to believe something is true doesn't mean that it is. When dealing with history and languages, I would highly recommend reviewing the work of true and accomplished scholars. Do this and you will likely get complete (as much as is possible) and the most accurate picture of the past as one can.

His credentials in no way qualify him to make such claims. If nothing else, look at his credentials and ask yourself how is this man qualified to make such claims?

I drive a fancy sports car and can give you the exact specs on the engine and body, from top to bottom. I could WOW the best of them with all the tech talk about the engine, transmission, suspension, etc. I could even carry on a detailed conversation with the mechanic if I had to. But I can tell you with certainty that if I was given a shop full of tools all to myself I couldn't fix my fancy sports car if it broke.

If you take your car into the shop be worked on, do you want the guy who talks like he knows what he's doing working on your car or do you want the guy with all the certificates on the wall that's PROVEN he knows what he's doing working on your car?

This is the case with Mr. Sitchin and his books. He talks a good line but has no credentials to prove he's anything more than just a fanciful talker.

Mr. Sitchin graduated from the University of London, majoring in economic history and he was a journalist and editor in Israel. How does this make him an expert in ancient Hebrew and the old Testament? In Sumerian culture? IMHO, this is a classic case of someone learning enough about an ancient language "to be dangerous". He absolutely sounds like he knows what he's talking about and sadly that fools a whole lot of people.

Like many, I was very taken initially with his ideas. But too much didn't add up. After months of research I was quite disappointed to realize that the basis of at least some of his theories (the ones I researched anyway) were too full of holes to be true.

There is an upside though - this a GREAT fictional story!

Real seekers of truth will check multiple sources and validate claims from many different sources. Do this and in time you will find the truth.

If you are looking to be entertained, look no further.

3 out of 5 stars A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING..........2007-09-13

The book somewhat confused me because of some claims. The author also states that the reader should read his other books to understand this book clearly. Nevertheless, I still admire Zecharia Sitchin for all his efforts.

5 out of 5 stars A Keeper.......2007-09-06

Buying a book is one thng haveing it be worth the storage space another. This is worth the storage space.

1 out of 5 stars Creative .......2007-08-27

Sitchin can spin a tale of fiction that is inspired to say the least. He is universally hated in the astronomical, archaeological, and historical communities for his attempt to pass pseudo science off as fact. If fact is not what you are after, then buy this book and invest in a tinfoil hat.

3 out of 5 stars A little disappointing ****** SPOILER ALERT *******.......2007-08-21

I've read all of Sitchin's books and was always pleased at the conclusion of each one. They were like adventure quests of hidden knowledge with the worst case scenario being a nice scifi story (and what a story!). This one left me wanting. I believe he just wanted to put his two cents in about 2012 even though he doesn't think it will be a date that anything significant happens. I think he's got a better theory floating around in his head but didn't want to share it for whatever reason. The beginning of the book is a bit boring as he has to tell the back story. The middle is more interesting with more detail about the tales of the annunaki and their petty power struggles. The end was a bitter disappointment to me. His theory on the davinci last supper painting, in which he thinks the space between jesus and mary/john is where elijah should be and the missing cup being the grail that elijah took, is just lacking. To me the alternate grail theories make more sense and have better documentation. Obviously this book is a must read if you've read the rest of the series as how can one not read the supposed last one but it doesn't hold up to his prior standard. When does Sitchin think the annunaki will return? Sometime in the age of pisces .... and that only leaves up to anywhere from 100 years from now to about 800 years from now depending on if you are going by the math or by sight.

Zecharia Sitchen's The 12th Planet is the starting point on a quest that spans six books and 20 years worth of ancient aliens, genetic manipulation, and scrutiny of linguistic minutiae. If we trust Sitchen's translation abilities, we must be prepared for the imminent return of an alien race who created us some 300,0x00 years ago. The 12th Planet is perhaps the best written of Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series; full of example after example of ancient Sumerian passages, astronomical observations, archaeological finds, and technological coincidences supporting his theories. The price we pay for all this evidence is a bit of a dry read at times, but the ideas Sitchin proposes are more than scintillating enough to make up for the overtly scholastic tone of his text. --Brian Patterson

Book Description

Over the years, startling evidence has been unearthed, challenging established notions of the origins of Earth and life on it, and suggests the existence of a superior race of beings who once inhabited our world. The product of thirty years of intensive research, The 12th Planet is the first book in Zecharia Sitchin's prophetic Earth Chronicles series -- a revolutionary body of work that offers indisputable documentary proof of humanity's extraterrestrial forefathers. Travellers from the stars, they arrived eons ago, and planted the genetic seed that would ultimately blossom into a remarkable species...called Man.

I can't understand why people put some much negative engery into someone else's work such as a legend as Dr. Sitchin. As much as time they spent writing their negative reviews they could have perhaps written their own book. Anyways......it has been a true pleasure studying the works of Dr. Sitchin a true "Einstein" in our midst. Please see youtubedotcom for more on this "magnificent" scientist.

5 out of 5 stars The 12th Planet.......2007-09-13

An enlightening look at how mankind came to be on this planet while explaining why a missing link cannot found. It molds together the ideas of creation as explained in religious manuscripts and theories of evolution into a feasible chain of events.

5 out of 5 stars Bringing Forth An Unknown.......2007-06-29

I have to thank Sitchen for writing this book because it was an incentive for me to research and validate what I read. I have enjoyed all of his books.

I can say that almost of the information he has given can be validated if one has the desire to know.

Sitchen introduced me to Ninhursag, the chief geneticist and the co-creator of the human body as we know it today. I did not say she created the mind or the spirit that inhabits the body. I just write she co-created the human body as we know it today.

5 out of 5 stars The 12th Planet.......2007-03-09

This book was the start of a different thought process for me and Mr Sitchin "I THANK YOU SO MUCH" What a change in my life since I 1st read this book in 2002 and since I have read everything Sitchin and I must say I believe in what he writes.

4 out of 5 stars An Interesting Theory..........2007-02-07

This book is interesting. The theory makes some sense, and I would like to see the material cited as "proof" backing up the theory.

A lot of the "pictures" are just drawings, which leaves room for questioning their authenticity. Being the skeptical believer I am, I really wish I had access to more reliable information that would confirm some of the things this book claims. It held my attention enough that I not only finished it, but also started to read the second book "The Stairway to Heaven" (which lost my attention after the first 20 or so pages... I'll get back to it at some point).

I do have to say, though, that towards the end I was a little turned off, mostly by the fact that:

- the book claims the 12th planet approaches Earth every 3,600 years
- the book uses its own interpretation of ancient texts to support its claim and says that ancient people described the periods when the planet approached Earth as times when the climate would go crazy due to the gravitational pull caused by this huge planet's proximity to Earth
- the book says the planet was near us at about 3,800 BC
- if the planet had come by us at about 3,800 BC, the actual last time the planet was near Earth was at about 200 BC, a time when such incredible event would have been clearly recorded by people, who had already developed pretty modern languages, and kept records of everything
- I never read anything from approximately 200 BC saying there were huge climatic changes on earth, big earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano eruptions, etc. around that time...

Another event that didn't make sense was that the writer tells the "gods" decided to let humanity perish by orbiting the planet in their spaceships while Earth was flooded by the deluge. The writer goes on to say that the aliens (gods) were crying in desperation in their ships because it was so horrible that earth was being destroyed and they regretted not saving men, and that they were starving in the ships because the food they brought wasn't enough.

Well, while the author says everything mentioned on the paragraph above, he also says that the 12th planet was near Earth when this happened. If they were starving and desperate, why didn't they just fly back to their planet? They could have come back in another 3,600 Earth-years (which, by the way, were just the same as one of their years) to check out how we were doing if they missed us too much.

On the other hand, it would make sense that such a messed up race (humans) would have come from such a messed up family of aliens. But, then again, we may just be making god to our own image, as usual...

All in all, it's an interesting theory for an interesting subject, definitely worth reading if you don't expect it to reveal all the secrets of the universe.

Book Description

Zecharia Sitchin’s autobiographical recounting of a half century of investigative expeditions to unravel the enigmas of ancient civilizations and their gods

• Includes vivid accounts of explorations in Greece, Thera, Crete, Egypt, the Sinai, Israel, Jordan, and Mesoamerica

• Reveals behind-the-scenes findings in museums and archaeological sites

• Contains 60 color and 159 black-and-white images from the author’s personal archive, including previously unpublished photographic evidence of UFOs in biblical times

For the first time, Zecharia Sitchin, author of the bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, reveals the foundational research and adventurous expeditions that resulted in the concrete evidence for his conclusions that ancient myths were recollections of factual events, that the gods of ancient peoples were visitors to Earth from another planet, and that we are not alone in our own solar system. In the course of his investigations Sitchin also became convinced of the veracity of the Bible.

Sitchin’s expeditions take readers from the Yucatan peninsula to the isle of Crete to ancient Egypt and the lands of the Bible as he explores the links between the Old World and the New World. His adventurous exploits reveal archaeological cover-ups concerning Olmec origins in Mexico and ancient UFO artifacts in Turkey. Other quests send him through the holy sites of Jerusalem, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in search of evidence of extraterrestrial gods in the artifacts and murals of these ancient civilizations. The Earth Chronicles Expeditions is a masterful historical and archaeological adventure into the origins of mankind and a “must” guidebook for all who wish to visit the numerous sites and museums covered in this book.

5 out of 5 stars On Changing Lives.......2005-12-16

I discovered Zacharia Sitchen many years ago, and have been an avid follower ever since. When it came time for me to make my own journey into research and exploration, it was because authors like Sitchen had such a powerful impact on me, and on my beliefs;as on many others around the world. Delving into areas where science and the Bible run parallel,it boggles the mind. I highly recommend this, and all of Sitchen's books.

4 out of 5 stars Sitchin takes us on a personal tour of the past.......2005-05-07

If you aren't familiar with the controversial theories of Zecharia Sitchin, I would recommend that you acquaint yourself with some or all of his previously published work, known collectively as the Earth Chronicles, before embarking on this personal tour of many of the ancient sites that inform his work. This is not to say that you have to be a fan of Sitchin - or even agree with his ideas - in order to appreciate The Earth Chronicles Expeditions: Journeys to the Mythical Past, however, for it is a unique travel guide featuring a large number of breathtaking images of some of the world's most ancient, venerated, and thought-provoking monuments and artifacts - you will find no less than 158 black-and-white images as well as 60 beautiful, full-color photographs in these pages. The magnificence of the images is without question; Sitchin's theories about the origin and meaning of the sites and materials, however, are not. I am not going to debate the merits of Sitchin's theories in this review. Having read most of Sitchin's published works, I personally find his account of earth's past fascinating, reasonably logical, and even plausible - certainly his ideas are worthy of thought and debate, although I would not go so far as to call myself a true believer (although I probably would qualify as a fan).

This particular book is primarily aimed at Sitchin's true believers and biggest fans, which makes the narrative somewhat problematic for those unfamiliar with Sitchin's work. Having argued the merits of his radical ideas in previous books, he tends to treat his theories as facts here - and, while some of the discoveries he made on the research tours discussed here shaped his original thinking, on occasion he seemed to go looking for things that would support conclusions he had already drawn. My main point about the text, though, is this: in this particular book, Sitchin makes statements that would seem incredulous to the uninitiated: to put it all in a hopelessly oversimplified nutshell, Sitchin believes that inhabitants of a "twelfth planet" in our solar system first arrived here on earth millennia ago, basically created human life via genetic engineering, and influenced the whole of human history in the form of gods. Nine previous books explain his theories and detail the evidence that led him to make his dramatic conclusions; this book covers his research tours and breathes new life into ancient sites - it does not attempt to rehash the complicated arguments Sitchin has already documented elsewhere.

Sitchin is an accomplished scholar who has studied ancient history and archaeology all across the globe; he has an almost unparalleled grasp of ancient languages, especially that of the Sumerians and other early cultures of the Middle East; and he is also an accomplished Biblical scholar. Through his study of diverse artifacts and writings, he believes that the ancient tales of the gods, as well as the events recorded in the Hebrew Bible, were all true - that the gods and goddesses of ancient history were real. The Earth Chronicles Expeditions is the equivalent of a virtual tour for his fans, taking them to some of the most significant sites all across the globe, from the Holy Land to Troy to Mesoamerica. Here, he describes what it is like to walk among ancient ruins, view fascinating artifacts thousands of years old, experience the history of long-dead peoples through fantastic murals that survive to this day, and marvel at the poignant power of religious sites such as the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

A lot of the narrative describes the problems Sitchin faced in making these research tours possible. Political and religious conflicts in the Near East made travel arrangements to such places as Syria, Egypt, and Israel over the last few decades tricky at best, and the artifacts he most wished to see were not always available for public viewing - at least not without a little finagling on Sitchin's part, although his efforts were not always successful in getting him the access he wanted. The whole work is a little self-indulgent in places, and Sitchin sometimes sees things that I do not, but The Earth Chronicles Expeditions makes for a fascinating and visually incredible excursion through time for those interested in Sitchin's theories. This, unlike the author's previous books, is very much a personal account, and as such it features some information and ideas that Sitchin has been pondering for years but felt himself unable to include in his more scholarly works. That makes this a must-read for Earth Chronicles fans.

4 out of 5 stars Somewhere in middle lies the truth........2005-02-11

Fascinating book. I don't see ancient aliens the way Sitchin sees them. Not after reading the Ark of Millions of Years. They weren't merely explorers looking for a primitive race to feed them grapes all day. They had a mission. They came from somewhere, and they survived the flood of Noah by being off-world when it occurred. Then they returned and kept up their work, only with a much more resistant and noble race of man.

Read The Ark of Millions of Years to get the middle road story. The whole story.

5 out of 5 stars The most worthwhile travel journal to share.......2004-12-06

I have had the honor and privilege of visiting Mayan sites with Mr. Sitchin and reading "The Earth Chronicles Expeditions" made me wish that I could have journeyed with him and his intrepid band of "fans" on all of them. This book is the next best thing and I treasure it and thank Mr. Sitchin for writing it. I, too, am an author and though, like Mr. Sitchin, I've devoted my life to my work and believe in its value with all my heart and soul, his work is far more important in the scheme of things than almost any books ever written. You cannot consider yourself an educated person without reading all of the books by Zecharia Sitchin and this is a great first book to read. Then try either "The 12th Planet" or "Genisis Revisited" and I know you'll be as eager to read all of them as I was. There is nothing like his work in all of the millions of books that have ever been published. I envy those reading and being astounded by his meticulously researched books for the first time. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars New Fine Addition To Sitchin's collection.......2004-11-01

Like the twelve planet and when time began this one book is a beatifull addition to Sitchin's work.

There is still one book which Sitchin has failed to write and I hope he will do it soon before he gets too old.

The whole logic and moral behind Sitchin's work is "Are we Catchin up with the Past?"

In this he does a marvelous job in showing us how wrong all our history is and how it is comming ti temrs with the reality. From the visitation of Extraterrestrial beings so called gods by the ancients to the creationg of Homo Sapiens modern humans and the
technological advances.

But Sitchin ought to write one last book which uses all this past knowledge to Project a more probable Future for mankind. This way he will come around full circle and showed once and for all how Humans are cathhing up.

For example Humans were not given Technology such as agriculture until after the catastophic deludge. In a a way we are a point in which a new catastrophic event will occured whether it is a natural or man made the arrow of events certanly points in that direction.

So should we conclude that the increase of UFO sightings and manipulation of humans is indeed a preparation for the upcomming events and since as you all know OIL is problem is becoming apparent, New sources of energy will be shown or have been shown which will be used by the remants after the catastrophe?

Just as agriculture gave mankind a boost after the waters receded so will a new source of energy capable of taking man to the outter planets and the galaxy come true?

Will the ancient gods return one more time AS SAVIOURS to be worshiped in the Temples of the Future again?

Sitchin before is too late show us your fans what the future holds for "To understand the future we must understand the past"

I have read Sitchin's first work, the 12th planet, which lead me to this one. And it is an amazing read. Sitchin presents evidence one by one, tells you various stories and myths, and in light of the scientific knowledge we now have, provides the reader with a new "perhaps it was" explanation.

5 out of 5 stars Not such a stretch if you Think!.......2004-07-15

Mr. Sitchin has nothing to gain by espousing pseudoscience or pseudohistory. He would only stand to lose. Ancient History as a discipline has been proclaimed true to a great extent by proclamation that the "ancients"told us all. This is all well and good as a baseline. I have no quarrel with Herodotus or Tacitus.
Read the bibliographies in this series. These ARE NOT the idle ramblings of a 'crank". If you truly pay attention, you will see the obvious scholarly work that has been done. Only the intellectually insecure will be intimidated and resort to common mockery.

If nothing else, this should send you into deeper studies of the ancient Near East. You won't be sorry. This is thought provoking at the very least and definitely entertaining to the casual reader and the more imaginative history buffs.

Look at and think about civilization, pre-Egyptian, pre-Indus Valley(?) and you will learn quite a bit. Better yet, you will be driven to learn more by yourself!

Do not buy the mass market edition. Shame on Avon Publishing!!! The type is so small that it is virtually unreadable, and any graphics, maps or diagrams cannot be distinguished. Pay the extra money to buy the edition published for Earthlings, not for Lilliputians.
Most people will be drawn to the cheaper version offered by this on-line retailer, so shame on the on-line retailer for even carrying this edition. I am not exaggerating. The book is UNREADABLE.

Book Description

Challenges the scientific theories on the establishment of civilization and technology

• Contains 42 essays by 17 key thinkers in the fields of alternative science and history, including Christopher Dunn, Frank Joseph, Will Hart, Rand Flem-Ath, and Moira Timmes

• Edited by Atlantis Rising publisher, J. Douglas Kenyon

In Forbidden History writer and editor J. Douglas Kenyon has chosen 42 essays that have appeared in the bimonthly journal Atlantis Rising to provide readers with an overview of the core positions of key thinkers in the field of ancient mysteries and alternative history. The 17 contributors include among others, Rand Flem-Ath, Frank Joseph, Christopher Dunn, and Will Hart, all of whom challenge the scientific establishment to reexamine its underlying premises in understanding ancient civilizations and open up to the possibility of meaningful debate around alternative theories of humanity's true past.

Each of the essays builds upon the work of the other contributors. Kenyon has carefully crafted his vision and selected writings in six areas: Darwinism Under Fire, Earth Changes--Sudden or Gradual, Civilization's Greater Antiquity, Ancestors from Space, Ancient High Tech, and The Search for Lost Origins. He explores the most current ideas in the Atlantis debate, the origins of the Pyramids, and many other controversial themes.

The book serves as an excellent introduction to hitherto suppressed and alternative accounts of history as contributors raise questions about the origins of civilization and humanity, catastrophism, and ancient technology. The collection also includes several articles that introduce, compare, contrast, and complement the theories of other notable authors in these fields, such as Zecharia Sitchin, Paul LaViolette, John Michell, and John Anthony West.

4 out of 5 stars You don't have to believe..........2007-06-01

This book is a compilation of articles and stories reprinted from the journal Atlantis Rising. I wish the individual chapters went into more depth on the various subjects but this book is a very good starting point for those who no longer believe the status quo. Important scientific discoveries have long been hidden from the general public for fear of social or religious upheaval and this book goes a long way towards breaching the barriers of ignorance. You'll read this book and want to do more investigation into it's claims and that's a good thing.

3 out of 5 stars Interesting, but very limited.......2007-05-25

If you are not already aware of the fact that this book is a collection of articles, you need to know that going in. It makes a big difference in how you can approach this book. By that I mean you don't have a consistent reading experience or point of view, making it a bit uneven. Some of the articles are well written and easy to read. Others are hard to get through. Furthermore, since the book is composed of articles, many of the topics discussed don't get fully fleshed out. In several cases statements of fact are made with no evidence or reference provided where if they'd been posed in a book more may have been provided to back them up. I thought there were too many essentially repetitive articles in some areas (especially Dunn's). While there are a number of things presented to make you think about what you've been taught over the years, I would only call this book average at best.

4 out of 5 stars Maverick Ideas.......2007-05-02

Forbidden History is a series of short magazine articles from the alternative science magazine Atlantis Rising that all question the orthodox and mainstream explanations of what the past was like that come from academia. It is rather hostile to mainstream thought and frustrated that the more outlandish theories do not get more respect, even when legitimate questions and evidence are given for these views. Sometimes I thought the articles were too short to cover the subjects properly, but other times I was grateful that they were short if my interest in the article was only casual. Some of the explanations about how the pyramids were engineered were hard to explain without pictures and a demonstration.

Several theories are under fire in the book. For instance, it is suggested that neither the Creationists nor the Darwinists have correct explanation of our past. Earth has been here for millions of years and there are no "missing links" to prove that we evolved gradually from apes. However, a cataclysm such as a flood may have occurred around -11,000. Darwinists and other scientists have been loath to pursue a theory that would suggest a cataclysm because they were scared that it would prove the Bible right and the religion would win and science would lose in their various political battles. Before this cataclysm during the days of Atlantis and Lemuria, civilization was in its golden age that is far greater than our civilization today. It is suggested that in our collective unconscious we fear mentioning past cataclysms because it is too painful to remember and talk about and so catastrophic theories are an anathema. Mainstream scientists are also hostile to supernatural explanations for anything and are firmly committed to the materialism that states that the material is all there is. On the contrary, the book suggests mystics that have declared that everything that exists is all one are right and the new physics is coming to that conclusion.

The book covers some racial topics peripherally. It questions the Aryan invasion theory of ancient India, attributing such a theory to Western scholars "West is Best" ethnocentrism. The great civilization of ancient India is created solely by the Indians, according to the book. On the other hand, it is claimed that red-haired people were the first people to live on Hawaii and there is evidence of an advanced civilization there that was created by them. The story about them in Forbidden History claims that they were unwilling to mix with the newcomers of a different race and left the island. There is also the strange case of huge sculpted Olmec heads in Central America that have Negroid characteristics. As we all know, people usually make statues of their own ethnic group's heroes. Blacks may have had a high civilization before the cataclysm.

I particularly enjoyed the section that dealt with how the pyramids were built and the authors do a pretty good job at making mainstream Egyptologists look silly with their explanation that the pyramids were built with ropes, pulleys, sledges, and a colossal amount of good, old-fashioned manpower. It is suggested that the older pyramids such as Cheops never were grave sites and were built using advanced technological tools with electricity. Egypt was a more advanced society than any modern society because we cannot build such a pyramid with such precision to this day. Chris Dunn, a high tech engineer, gives us this new perspective on how they were built that historians may miss because they do not have his training. He suggests that pyramid at Giza was a power plant.

It is suggested that the book called Temple of Man by Schwaller Lubicz is a great, but difficult read that will enlighten readers who prove themselves worthy by having patience enough to keep reading it until they understand it. It is a book about the pyramids and its symbols and their multi-meanings that are continually shifting in meaning.

4 out of 5 stars Questions Please!!!!!!.......2007-03-19

Many years ago, in my youth mind you, I asked several questions of my archeaology and history professor that gave them headaches. I was the kid who would ask why or why not, followed by how come?
This book focus on those questions, and the idea of thinking out side of the box. Its refreshing to find that there is evidence that many others outside of the norm have begun to put the puzzle of our world and its history together. That those "myths" indeed have clues, that answers are not just because someone has an alphebet soup after their names say it is true.
Let this series of essays rock your notions of "what is" and "should be" to the possiblities of why not?

Modern Technology . . . or Knowledge of the Ancients?

Space travel . . . Genetic engineering . . . Computer science . . . Astounding achievements as new as tomorrow. But stunning recent evidence proves that as these ultramodern advances were known to our forfathers millions of yrsterdays ago . . . as early as 3,000 years before the birth of Christ!

In this remarkable companion volume to his landmark EARTH CHRONICLES series, author Zecharia Sitchin reexamines the teachings of the ancients in the light of mankind's latest scientific discoveries -- and uncovers breathtaking, never-before-revealed facts that challenge long-held, conventional beliefs about our planet and our species.

Ho- Hum another boring uninformed book on wishful thinking insanity masquerading as 'scientific'. Save your money.

5 out of 5 stars Genesis Revisited.......2007-03-09

If it's Sitchin it is very thought prevoking and good information of your own growth on the subject of where did we come from.

3 out of 5 stars Fun to think about, but..........2007-01-25

I saw this book as a way of speeding up the process of getting through Sitchin's ideas as the prospect of reading the full series was a bit daunting - and I love to read! My previous experience with his books were of very dense prose not exactly easy to read. Lots of material. This book is a bit quicker and less intense. Not that Sitchin doesn't present his usual evidence and theories. I enjoy allowing my mind to take up his ideas but there always seem to be a point where he makes a jump of reasoning. Not that he's necessarily wrong. It's just that the presentation of evidence doesn't necessarily continue up to the point of making a conclusion. Too bad the book is even now significantly dated in terms of interstellar developments.

2 out of 5 stars Genesis Revisited.......2007-01-12

Another great book by Zachariah Sitchen, I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling.

5 out of 5 stars A summary of the Earth Chronicles.......2006-08-27

Sitchin's series of books is time consuming to read. However, this book is a very nice summary of his theories. He summarizes much of what takes pages and pages to present in the books of the Earth Chronicles series. Not sure as to the validity of Sitchin's assertions, but they sure are interesting. Faithful Christians will probably find this book blasphemous. Free thinkers will enjoy it a great deal!!

Thousands Of Years Before the Birth
Of Christ, Giants Roamed The Earth

In the sixteenth century, Spanish conquerors came to the New World in search of El Dorado, the fabled city of gold. Instead, they encountered inexplicable phenomena that have puzzled scholars and historians ever since: massive stone edifices constructed in the Earth's most inaccessible regions ... great monuments forged with impossible skill and unknown tools ... intricate carvings describing the events and topography of half a world away.

In this, the remarkable and thoroughly researched fourth volume of THE EARTH CHRONICLES, author Zecharia Sitchin uncovers the long-hidden secrets of the lost civilizations of the pre-Columbian Americas and offers documentation of the giant gods who spawned the greatness of the Incans, Mayans, and Aztecs -- the Anunnaki -- "those who from Heaven to Earth came."

5 out of 5 stars Takes the New out of New World.......2002-07-28

The Lost Realms is one of the most speculative and interesting books in Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series. The ruins and structures of Egypt and the Near East have been wondered at and studied for centuries, and there is a veritable wealth of information from Near Eastern papyri, stelae, monuments, and similar artifacts. The ruins of Mesoamerica have largely been rediscovered only in the past couple of hundred years; indeed, unknown wonders surely remain hidden by South America's dense jungles. The immensely important records and artifacts of New World societies such as the Mayan, Inca, and Aztec civilizations were for the most part lost and destroyed at the hands of greedy Spanish conquistadors, and further site degradation has resulted from the pilfering of ancient stones by recent natives of the area for use in the construction of their own buildings. Thus, the earliest history of the lower Americas remains frustratingly impossible to understand. We are left with giant edifices with significant similarities to Near Eastern constructions in size, orientation, and purpose, many of them seemingly containing very advanced structures built for unknown purposes. Even the age of the artifacts is hotly debated, with many scientists refusing to believe scientific findings point back to as early as 2000 B.C.

Sitchin's arguments fit very nicely with the history of Sumeria, Egypt, and the Near East that he laid out in his earlier books. Basically, he argues that the Americas were exploited by the gods for the production of gold and other metals such as tin, which the Andean mountains in particular hold in abundance. Metals were refined here and shipped back to the Near Eastern lands long before Columbus ever sailed the ocean blue. Sitchin believes that the Olmecs, of which very little is known besides what has been gleaned from the artifacts they left behind, particularly in the form of large stone blocks representing men of obvious African descent, did indeed come from Africa very early on--in fact, it was the Egyptian god Thoth who brought his followers here when he was displaced by Marduk. While the Olmecs mysteriously disappeared, other societies were formed by white gods and giants from across the sea. The traditions of the diverse Indian groups all shared a common mythology, including the story of a Great Flood; they also possessed amazing arts, technologies, and sciences (particularly astronomy) very similar to those of Sumeria and Egypt. The inadequacy of artifacts in the Americas necessarily hinder any scientist studying their earliest histories, but Sitchin constructs a remarkably compelling timeline in which the story of Mesoamerica fits very neatly into the history he has gleaned of the Annunaki and their relationships with mankind in its earliest days.

Even if Sitchin were dead wrong on everything he suggests, this book would still be worth reading just for the information about the amazing ancient cities and monuments built in the lower Americas that are only now emerging from their jungle tombs. The Olmecs, Toltecs, Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs are more mysterious than the Near Eastern cultures, and the suggestion that men traveled from the Old World and Africa centuries before Columbus is as compelling as it is fascinating. The illustrations in this book are sometimes rather grainy and hard to examine closely, but the images they convey, such as that of the giant stone heads left by the Olmecs, do much to enhance Sitchin's theories. This is thought-provoking, educational, stimulating material.

5 out of 5 stars The Lost Realms.......2002-05-23

There are many pieces of the puzzle of our existence in the universe that I had figured out, or "seen", but there were still dots that I could not connect, gaps I could not fill in. When I read this book it was like deja vu, a recollection of things stored in our genetic memory/code long forgotten through evolution, now recalled causing gasps of recollection. This book logically and scientifically filled in the gaps. It makes sense, it all fits. Sitchin's bibliography to support his research is tremendously extensive and impressive. I recommend it highly for the searching mind, and have given copies as gifts to many friends and associates.

Book Description

Will the past become our future? Is humankind destined to repeat the events that occurred on another planet, far away from Earth? Zecharia Sitchin's bestselling series The Earth Chronicles provided humanity's side of the story-as recorded on ancient clay tablets and other Sumerian artifacts--concerning our origins at the hands of the Anunnaki, "those who from heaven to earth came." In The Lost Book of Enki, we can view this saga from a different perspective through this richly conceived autobiographical account of Lord Enki, an Anunnaki god, who tells the story of these extraterrestrials' arrival on Earth from the 12th planet Nibiru. The object of their colonization: gold to replenish the dying atmosphere of their home planet. Finding this precious metal results in the Anunnaki creation of homo sapiens--the human race--to mine this important resource.

In his previous works, Sitchin compiled the complete story of the Anunnaki's impact on human civilization in peacetime and in war from the fragments scattered throughout Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Egyptian, Canaanite, and Hebrew sources--the "myths" of all ancient peoples in the old world as well as the new. Missing from these accounts, however, was the perspective of the Anunnaki themselves. What was life like on their own planet? What motives propelled them to settle on Earth-and what drove them from their new home? Convinced of the existence of a now lost book that formed the basis of ancient Sumerian texts holding the answers to these questions, the author began his search for evidence. Through exhaustive research of primary sources, he has here re-created tales as the memoirs of Enki, the leader of these first "astronauts." What takes shape is the story of a world of mounting tensions, deep rivalries, and sophisticated scientific knowledge that is only today being confirmed. An epic tale of gods and men unfolds, challenging every assumption we hold about our creation, our past, and our future.

5 out of 5 stars Very different from the others books by Stichiin.......2007-05-13

This book is a little bit hard to read because of the unusual English language; this is not at all an everyday English language. The construction of the sentences is the opposite way that it is usually. But anyway, this book is a must! This book is very different from the others. There is a lot of new information.

1 out of 5 stars Extrremely Muddled Thinking.......2007-04-29

The first book in this series sounded so plausible. Reviewers pointed out the fact that he almost never identifies his sources, and many of the sources they could indentify turned out to be wrong, but what the heck, I could live with that. By the second book he's already beginning to write more from imagination than reality, and in the last one he writes an entire "Bible" in the words of his imaginary space guy. I love "true history of the world" kinds of books, but this guy shows a progressively worse lack of regard for logic and reality as he proceeds. For a better read, try The Mayan Prophecies : Unlocking the Secrets of a Lost Civilization

5 out of 5 stars The Lost Book of Enki .......2007-03-09

If you find all the earlier books of Sitchin a hard read this book makes it far easier to understand. Out of all of his works this is the one that I go back to on a regular basis.

3 out of 5 stars Interesting but drags..........2007-01-10

I'm really into Sitchin and his theories so this attracted me. But while interesting as all his stuff is, this is really a dull read. I can only take a few pages at a time.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible.......2007-01-06

It may look like fiction but it is not... I already had this treasure and I bought it for my friend (the yogi). He got addicted to Sitchin books. I'm grateful there is someone in the earth that knows very well Sumerian to translated for all of us and let us know the truth...

Book Description

Erich von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods is a work of monumental importance--the first book to introduce the shocking theory that ancient Earth had been visited by aliens. This world-famous bestseller has withstood the test of time, inspiring countless books and films, including the author's own popular sequel, The Eyes of the Sphinx. But here is where it all began--von Daniken's startling theories of our earliest encounters with alien worlds, based upon his lifelong studies of ancient ruins, lost cities, potential spaceports, and a myriad of hard scientific facts that point to extraterrestrial intervention in human history. Most incredible of all, however, is von Daniken's theory that we ourselves are the descendants of these galactic pioneers--and the archeological discoveries that prove it... * An alien astronaut preserved in a pyramid
* Thousand-year-old spaceflight navigation charts
* Computer astronomy from Incan and Egyptian ruins
* A map of the land beneath the ice cap of Antarctica
* A giant spaceport discovered in the Andes
Includes remarkable photos that document mankind's first contact with aliens at the dawn of civilization.

This book is one of the archetypal examples of 1970's fluffy pseudoscience drivel, which is practically a genre unto itself.

This particular example has long since been debunked by many reputable scientist authors, and at considerable length. I only reviewed this book because it was a best seller in it's day, and people still talk about it. Then again, supermarket tabloids are best sellers too, so that's not saying an awful lot.

In any case, just for the sake of completeness, I read this book as a young, gullible, and naieve teen back in the mid-late 1970's, when shows like "In Search Of", "Project Blue Book", UFO sightings, and things like "streaking", acid rock, smoking recreational drugs, poor personal hygine and rampant anti-intellectualism were all the rage in pop culture, and things like CB Radio, Walkie Talkies, and pocket calculators were the newfangled high-brow hobbies of the day for adolescent geeks like me.

Decades later, as an educated, rational and moderately well read and informed adult ... it's almost unreadable.

Save your time and money.

5 out of 5 stars God.......2007-08-02

I am one of those people who want hard evidence to prove god's existence. This book help little.

3 out of 5 stars Chariots of the Gods/DVD.......2007-07-24

I saw the movie when it first came out and found it fascinating. I purchased this copy for a friend. Looking at it now, it is a little outdated, but still, if you are interested in this genre, it is very enjoyable and contains a lot of interesting information to ponder.Chariots of the Gods

3 out of 5 stars This is not the show from the 1970-'s.......2007-07-14

Too many people are not reviewing the correct program. This is not a movie, it is also not the show from the 1970's narrated by Rod Serling. This is a remake (and update of information) from 1997. It has that guy from Home Improvement as the host (not Tim Allen)...Richard Karn. Eric Von Daniken and Richard K travel the globe showing old and new sites. It is an OK show but not the best. It was from 1997 and broadcast on TV. Keep watching the skies. The aliens return on Christmas day 2012, not sure why or what they want (so the Myan calendar tells us).

Book Description

The Architects of Stonehenge

They came to Earth thousands of years ago to usher in mankind's first New Age of scientific growth and spiritual enlightenment. Under the guidance of these ancient visitors from the heavens, human civilization flourished -- as revolutionary advances in art, science and thought swept through the inhabited world. And they left behind magnificent monuments -- baffling monoliths and awesome, towering structures that stand to this day as testaments to their greatness.

In this extraordinarily documented, meticulously researched work, Zecharia Sitchin draws remarkable correlations between the events that shape our civilization in millennia past -- pinpointing with astonishing accuracy the tumultuous beginning of time as we know it . . . and revealing to us the indisputable signature of extraterrestrial god indelibly written in stone.

Anything written by Sitchin is highly endorsed by me as a must read.

4 out of 5 stars When Time Began.......2007-01-12

A good book, but a little repetition. I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling.

1 out of 5 stars Sitchen and his love of the blind-folded observation.......2004-10-05

Sitchen's interpretation of Sumer mythology is just as bad as Lawrence Gardner's explanation of how the Egyptians built the pyramids. Sitchen's books are nothing more than fiction masquerading as actual events. Its hard for people such as Sitchen to believe that African people, both, inland, and abroad can build complex buildings and monuments. Sure, there is evidence of alien visits, but, you won't find it here. Sitchen belongs to a group of (...)individuals who syncretized different backgrounds of knowledge for the sake of exploit and profit. Nothing new here, just more recycled junk-sci-info.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely interesting..........2003-03-29

Honestly speaking everything about life and it's origin is a theory. Sitchin has written a great book (I have read most of his) and the theory of time and origin of life on earth explained in this book is quiet remarkable and astonishing. If you are one of those who think 'where did we come from', 'was there a begining' or 'is there an end' then I'd recommened this book. However, a lot of maths has been used in this book which requires reading it over again at times. But in short, I love the book, it has made my understanding of origin more broader and I can think in multiple lines!
