Book Description
It's time to revolutionize the way you think about dieting!
Bestselling author Brenda Watson shares the remarkable secret that helped her take charge of her health and change her life forever. Now you can do the same!
The Fiber35 Diet will show you how to lose weight and improve your health by taking advantage of the extraordinary health benefits of fiber.
In recent decades, a change has taken place in America. In contrast to the fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains once prevalent in our diet, we now consume an overwhelming number and amount of processed foods filled with refined sugars and harmful trans fats. As a result, we have almost completely stripped our diet of what is quite possibly the most beneficial nutrient on the planet.
In addition to helping prevent many of the major diseases of our time -- including diabetes, heart disease, and cancer -- fiber helps to increase satiety, reduce hunger, and actually decrease caloric intake.
The Fiber35 Diet will show you how getting 35 grams of fiber every day is the key to losing weight and staying healthy for life. Unlike many of the low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets that currently saturate the market, the Fiber35 Diet is based on scientifically verified techniques clinically proven to help you lose weight. Most important, this diet corrects one of the most dangerous falsehoods of our time: that carbohydrates are bad. The Fiber 35 Diet teaches you a lifetime eating system that helps you shed pounds safely and effectively.
This book includes:
-
Straightforward, easy-to-understand concepts that have been researched in detail and clinically proven.
-
A personalized weight loss formula based on how many pounds you want to lose.
-
Recommendations about dietary supplements and nutritious food choices.
-
Healthful and fiber-rich recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
- A comprehensive
strength and cardio training program designed to help you maintain your ideal body weight.
Twenty years ago, author Brenda Watson was overweight, chronically tired, and battling constant health problems. Today she inspires hundreds of thousands of people just like you with her story of personal transformation. By starting the Fiber35 Diet, you are taking the first step on your own journey.

Easy to Digest.......2007-09-08
I'm always interested in looking into the latest and greatest diet plan and this one caught my eye. I found Fiber35 to be a bit unique among the other books on the diet shelf.
The gist of Fiber35? Simple. You can lose weight and improve your health by taking advantage of all the health benefits of fiber. And, the book feels that fiber is possibly the most benficial nutrient on the planet. This is because fiber can prevent major diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer- as well as increase satiety and decrease hunger. The main plan? Well, as the book goes on the say, getting 35 grams of fiber every day is the key to losing weight and staying healthy for life.
The book has a three phase weight loss plan- an accelerated weight loss phase, a moderate weight loss phase, and a lifetime weight maintenance phase. Also included is a strength and cardio training program. The strength training program consists of a resistance band workout, and the cardio program is simply walking. Other goodies in the book include recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, as well as a personalized weight loss formula which is based on how many pounds you want to lose.
All in all, its a pretty neat book, and to me, the program seems pretty complete and laid out in an easy to follow manner. I say give it a try if the thought of eating more fiber sits well with you. Also recommend The Sixty-Second Motivator for readers trying to lose weight as diets can't help you unless you're motivated to stick with them. Good luck.
Not impressed.......2007-08-21
This oh-so-simple formula gets complicated quite quickly.
There are shakes and bars to buy. There are formulas to work out. Oh, and you should really try for 45 g of fiber, instead of 35. And, you should purchase any number of supplements for maximum effect. And, you should drink 1/2 your body weight in oz of water each day but no, you won't spend all day running to the restroom (?)
This book restates the same information over & over and essentially rehashes the information already covered in her H.O.P.E. program on PBS. The only thing that seems to be new is the launch of Fiber 35-related products available for purchase. I tried some of the bars before I even purchased the book just because they were convenient and had healthy ingredients. They're not bad but I shudder at the thought of living primarily on prefab fiber shakes and bars for a month (not to mention what this might do to someone with a sensitive GI tract).
For those who are unfamiliar with fiber, Omega-3 oils, and general colon health, then this book might have some valuable information. For those who have read a wide variety of diet and nutrition programs, this sounds like the same song, second verse...restrict calories, increase fiber, increase water, increase exercise and make healthy food choices.
satisfaction guaranteed.......2007-07-22
The Fiber35Diet book is well written in plain english and quite readable. The background information in support of the actual diet regimen is superior and again easily understood and readable.
35 grams.......2007-07-05
This book is not anywhere near as helpful as her other book Renew Your Life. The principal of the eating plan makes sense-35 grams of fibre. However, the book recommends you can use shakes to get the fibre. This does not work for me.
Tried and True.......2007-06-27
When my wife and I started this diet about a month ago we were both overweight. I was about 215-220 and I'm 5'11" tall. Now I weigh 193 and I continue to drop a little. My wife has dropped about twenty pounds too, but she won't let me tell you where she started or ended. There is no doubt in my mind that I'm healthier thanks to more water and fiber intake. I highly recommend you give this a chance. I can't see where getting waste out of your gut is a bad thing.

Amazon.com Reviews
Designed to catapult your body into a state of fat meltdown, Dr. Atkins's diet has taken America by storm. It targets insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. The bodies of most overeaters are continually in a state of hyperinsulinism; their bodies are so adept at releasing insulin to help convert excess carbohydrates to fat that there's always too much of the hormone circulating through the body. This puts the body into a bind; it always wants to store fat. Even when people with hyperinsulinism try to lose weight--especially when they cut fat but increase carbohydrate consumption--their efforts will fail. This is why Dr. Atkins refers to insulin as "the fat-producing hormone."
Dr. Atkins's diet is extremely low in carbohydrates, which helps to regulate insulin production and decrease circulating insulin; less insulin soon results in less fat storage and fewer food cravings. The diet is far from torturous, though--those who've tried it attest that hunger is not a part of this plan. Ninety percent of Dr. Atkins's patients--more than 25,000 of them--have experienced dramatic weight loss. The book includes recipes for such luscious, low-carb dishes as lobster soup, zabaglione, sea bass, and blueberry ice cream, and even includes a carbohydrate gram counter and menus.
Book Description
This new edition contains the basic diet and is enhanced by new explanations of the underlying theories. There are seven new chapters.

Big Help.......2007-10-08
This diet has improved the quality of my life more than I can describe. I had gained nearly 50 pounds after two consecutive pregnancies, and couldn't seem to lose it no matter what diet I tried. This one helped me drop 14 in just the first 2 weeks. I'm now almost half way there at 25 lost, and thrilled. I eat more veggies than ever before, and drink more water and exercise too, so its really healthy.
Worth Reading.......2007-09-24
Is there anyone who has had such a positive impact on American's ability to lose weight as Dr. Atkins? The science has, in fact, caught up with Atkins' assertions that sugar and excess carbohydrates are deadly. For a person who wants to know if they should take this book seriously, simply read through the success stories and testimonials here on Amazon! They really say it all. I think this book is worth reading, and if you need a bit of inspiration and some additional pointers for life long success, get The 3:00 PM Secret: Live Slim and Strong Live Your Dreams as a companion to Atkins! You won't regret reading these books!
best diet ever........2007-09-15
NORA LUKAN :This is the most amazing diet i have ever been on. dr atkins is a saint. I have learned more about nutrition from this single book than I have from the other 20 diets I have already tried. This book teaches you facts that most nutritionists will only get to in 10 years from now. it is so progressive. thanks for this book.
Saved My Life!!!!!!!.......2007-08-18
When I started the my new (Atkins Lifestyle)I was 5'2",375#. I had high blood pressure, bad Cholesterol levels, type II diabetes, congestive heart failure, and edema of the lower legs and feet. Doctors at Shane's hospital gave me 24 months to live if I did not lose at least 100#. That was 4 years, and 185# ago! I still need a little BP medication, but ALL other problems are gone. My doctor has been checking my Kidneys, and Liver functions for the last 3 1/2 years, and NO problems.
I am not suggesting you use this Lifestyle, just that it saved my Life!
Worse than worthless.......2007-07-30
Mindless garbage for people completely uninformed about nutrion and content to stay that way. Ignorance is NOT bliss. Thankfully few can stay on this deadly diet for very long. If they could, society would ultimately have to foot the bill for the millions of cancer cases that would result. It's bad enough diabetes is going to cost the US billions. Why are people so willing to try everything EXCEPT healthy, natural eating?????!!!
Also it is a diet that is completely unsustainable ecologically. If this diet were to be adopted by the masses and meat/dairy consumption were to increase accordingly, we simply would not have enough farmland to raise all the cattle/poultry. Also the amount of fossil fuel wasted producing that much meat would be devastating. Let's not forget the massive amounts of pestcides, antibiotics and chemical fertilizers required to farm that much livestock, above and beyond what is already being used.
The dead author implies that this is a natural way of eating yet the diet requires you to suppliment vitamins, minerals, fiber etc. That doesn't sound very natural to me. A child could see that the diet is completely lacking many components of a healthy human diet.

great deal.......2007-09-30
This is a fabulous little book to keep in your purse or day planner..
I couldn't live without it, have the earlier version and now he's added so many new foods. Very much worth the $$.
Good reference in general.........2007-09-14
I bought this book since it had many fast food places listed in it which is very handy. My only "beef" is that there is no listing of fiber with the carbs, so you cannot separate the "good" and "bad" carbs when planning a meal.
very handy if you eat out.......2007-09-14
I travel often for work which leads to a LOT of dining out every week. Having this book with me is very handy. You will be surprised at how much fat or calories are in the food which is served. Many places still don't break down the calories, fat, protein, etc on the menu....but in comes this book to save the day. Dinners here in the States are the serving size of at least 2 if not 4--and most Americans shovel it in and get fatter and fatter. Buy the guide to help you watch what you eat.
It has it all.......2007-09-14
This book is packed with info, well organized and to the point. It's not about dieting philosophy, long opinions nor reasons why you should or shouldn't follow a set dieting plan (though it has helpful example menu plans), it's more about factual data. It's not written like a novel but rather lots of numbers/lists along with supporting text, great as a reference book. Good find for me as it was just what I was looking for. I wanted something I could keep with me and quickly look up calories, fat, carbs, cholesterol, etc. (mostly what the book contains) and other data for lot's of foods. Excellent value. Glad I bought it.
Caloria King Book.......2007-09-13
The best book I've found so far on counting carbs.
A must have. Includes a wide variety of foods and
places to eat out.
Book Description
Why was this a #1 bestseller in Canada in 2002? Because it is an easy-to-follow, easy-to-stick-to, truly healthy approach to eating that is based on the Glycemic Index, the original science behind The Zone Diet, but eliminates that diet's complexity and tendency to leave dieters wanting more. If you can understand a traffic light, you can understand this diet--and lose weight permanently without feeling hungry, counting calories, or jeopardizing your health. If a food is in the green column, eat it. If it's in the red column, avoid it. And if it's in the yellow column, proceed with caution. Take bread, for example. White bread, with its high G.I. number, is red-because it's so highly processed the body digests it quickly, resulting in a spike in blood sugar, a release of insulin, potential storage as fat, and a quick return of the hungry feeling. Low-G.I. 100% stone-ground whole-wheat bread is green-the body takes a while to digest it, with no spike in blood sugar and a much longer feeling of satiety. Green, yellow, red: It's all here, with a full explanation of how the diet works, plus ratings for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, eating out or eating in. Includes some recipes, snack ideas, a shopping list, and tips on dining out.
Customer Reviews:
This is a great book!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-08-03
I bought this book for myself and am having such great success that I bought the book for my mother and sister. To date mom and I combined have lost 50 lbs. We have more energy and feel healthier than we have in years. Mom is 63 years old and keeps up with us if not better she says her energy level is just amazing. I have a total of 56 lbs. to lose. I have lost 22 lbs I know with this plan I will make it. This is a way of eating not just a diet but here's the beauty in it you can easily eat this way for the rest of your life. I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to lose weight and get healthy.
1st Book of the GI Diet.......2007-07-30
This book verifies and clarifies the idea of the insulin and glucose "yo-yo" weight gain. 20 years ago I read another book similar to this idea, "Sugar Blues", but it was considered "fanatical". I recommend this book to anyone who can't understand why they just can't lose weight.
Great Guide for Healthier Living = Weight Loss.......2007-07-25
I ordered this book in late April 2007 and found it a very easy read, with clear and concise charts and explanations. I, like many people, struggle with my weight and find that I have been undertaking the battle of the buldge for nearly 3/4 of my life, so far. I have had enough.
I have tried every plan and I liked Atkins, and had success with it, but I tweaked it and kept my carbs in check but ate lean meats, the "right" fruits and plenty of vegetables. If I eliminated too many of the good foods...I felt crummy.
Low fat by itself was not a good choice for me.
So, I read up on the Glycemic Index and in researching food lists, on the internet, I found this book. Wow! I am glad that I did.
I can't say that it, by itself, is some miracle breakthrough. Much, for me, is stuff that I already knew and found was true with my own body and metabolism. But the book gives great guides, easy to follow lists (RED
< YELLOW AND GREEN LIGHT foods) and takes the guesswork out of eating right.
I have peacefully decided that while I need to lose 70-80 pounds to embrace a healthy BMI - I am not on a diet. I am changing my lifestyle. I am not making changes-TEMPORARILY- but permanently. This book makes that possible. I am still in the weight loss phase and am doing well.
Since the end of April, I have lost 37.4 pounds. This is by following the Glycemic Index and fueling my body with the food that will bring me the most satisfaction and energy. I have never been more satiated or energetic (and I need to be with 3 boys between 1 and 9!) I have also started walking and incorporating activity (real activity- not just chasing after my kids) into my lifestyle. I'm not a fitness guru and wish that I could get the weight off and keep it off without it...but I can't and it won't. I am walking 30 minutes, at LEAST 3 times a week or maximum of 5. That is all I have done differently. I am thrilled and amazed by my progress and am careful to not allow my mindset to change.
I don't want to be diabetic or have high blood pressure or cholesterol. I want to be a healthy, fit 37 year old wife and mother. This book is helping me. The recipes are delicious too!
I think that the high fiber with the low fat, whole grains, fruit and veggies...really helps keep me full and satisfied as well as selecting those foods that don't naturally cause sharp increases or declines in my blood sugar. Thank you, Mr. Gallup for not just being another fad diet or looking to get rich off all of the overweight people out there. Making a living/profit off of sound science and desire to share the knowledge is respectable.
It has only been 14 weeks and I am feeling very good with my results of 37.4 pounds down. I think that I will be satisfied with 45 more and I am taking it in "little bites".
Great book. I encourage you to make the change in your life too, as it is really something you can LIVE with!
It Works!.......2007-07-09
I was able to get off insulin and any other diabetes medication (I am type 2)
within a year by losing more than 100 lbs! You have to combine it with exercise of course, but it works!
Helped stopped Eating Disorders.......2007-05-28
I began following this book 2 weeks ago. I know that I don't really need to lose weight but having had eating disorders for over 40 years I am always searching for a way to lose a "few" pounds. Yes, I have lost 5 lbs.since starting the book, but the biggest plus of all is having my hunger satisfied to the point that I no longer suffer the constant craving of high sugar, high fat content foods to binge on. The dynamics behind the diet of regulating insulin is what its all about. It's only been 2 weeks, but so far for the first time in 40 years have I enjoy a normal relationship with food. Love this book!! It is so easy to follow and allows you plenty of good food all day. I'm grateful to have found it.

A different kind of food plan.......2007-09-09
This is a good concept. You would need to learn to read labels very well. Taking the time to cook most of your own meals would work the best. It would be hard to eat out and make this work for you.
No Flour, No Sugar, No Reading this Book.......2007-08-29
This book was sent to a friend of mine directly from the book seller; as such I cannot comment on the contents. My responses to questions numbers 1 and 2 were strictly improv, as the survey does not provide for "thinking out of the box"!
The easiest diet .......2007-08-26
This diet is the easiest diet I have ever done. You only give up flour and sugar. I am a diabetic and I never eat much sugar, so giving up flour was my only deterent. I don't feel as if I'm giving up much and I am losing between 1 and 2 lbs. a week. Many people lose more, because they have always eaten flour and sugar. It really isn't difficult to stay on this diet because you can eat almost everything.
I like the book because Dr. Gott has some letters from dieters and he explains exactly what you can and cannot have.
I probably won't make many of the recipes because I know what I can eat and what I cannot eat.
I highly recommend the book.
EASY TO FOLLOW DIET.......2007-08-04
FIRST DIET BOOK THAT I CAN REMEMBER WHICH MENTIONS THE VALUE OF EXERCISE AND QUANTITY OF FOOD EATEN. ALSO TALKS ABOUT ALL THE FAD DIETS AND WHY THEY FAIL IN THE LONG TERM. I LIKE BOOKS WHICH ARE SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT.

Dr. Gott's No Flour, No Sugar Diet.......2007-07-30
Very interesting book. Although I have not started the diet yet it has really got me reading labels. It is amazing the things that have some sort of sugar in them and you never would know.
Amazon.com
Forget the high-carb, low-carb debate. The glycemic index (GI)--a measure of carbohydrate quality based on how quickly a food raises blood-glucose (blood sugar) levels--is the dietary key to health, say the authors. Contrary to other diets that treat carbohydrates as all alike, The New Glucose Revolution divides carbos according to their GI into two categories. One is high GI (less desirable): carbohydrates that break down quickly during digestion, leading to fast and high blood-glucose response. Examples are baked potatoes, sports bars, instant rice, corn flakes cereal, and baguettes. The other is low GI (more desirable): carbohydrates that break down slowly during digestion, leading to a gradual glucose release. Examples here are pasta, whole grains, fruit, legumes, and yams.
A low-GI diet is especially recommended for people with diabetes, abdominal overweight, and Syndrome X, say the authors, who have strong medical, nutritional-science, and diabetes education credentials. They explain the importance of understanding GI values, how GI is determined, health applications, and how to choose low-GI foods and balance the overall GI load. They give cooking tips, menu ideas, and 47 recipes. A 68-page table gives the GI values of many foods, including brand names. The New Glucose Revolution is recommended for health-conscious readers who want to understand the glycemic index and how to incorporate it into their diet. --Joan Price

I know this book has rave reviews, which is why I ordered it after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. But it seems to me that most of the book is bascially meant to sell the reader on the fact that the GI is a worthwhile measure to use to eat well.
It has only "more than 45 recipes"...and its "authoritative tables of GI values" are, for the most part useless. You can find most of the information for the staples listed on the Internet, like those for beans and fruits. Much of the tables include name-brand products that I would never use. For example:
--Under beverages, it lists the values for products like: Trim Advantage, President's Choice.
--Under cookies and crackers: Ancient Grains by President's Choice, Cranberry Orange by President's Choice, gluten-free choc chip cookie, Ryvita Fruit Crunch Crispbread, Wheat and Sesame Snack Crackers by President's Choice.
--Dairy: Frozen Yogurt, Mochaccino, President's Choice; for many individual flavors of Yoplait yogurt.
I bought this book to learn how to eat lower GI foods. I struggled through the first many chapters of the authors trying to convince me that GI is an acceptable measure.
If you're looking for a way to integrate the GI index into your lifestyle, I don't think this book is it -- a cookbook or comprehensive book listing GI values of foods ONLY might be better. If, however, you know nothing about the GI index, this book might prove useful.
The New Glucose Revolution.......2007-08-23
Recently I was diagnosed with prediabetes and attended a diabetes seminar on nutrition. As a longtime member of the health profession I thought I was fairly knowledgeable in the field of nutrition. Wrong again! The information in this book is easily readable and is guaranteed to change your eating habits if you have insulin resistance or any type of blood glucose problems. By following the practical information in this book I have brought my readings back to the normal range. Some of the information in this book was very surprising and unexpected. The authors give practical information that is usable. This is not a typical diet book or one that promotes new herbal or chemical miracles. My nutritionist said the glycemic index is the wave of the future. I belive it.
Good Synopsis for Complicated Subject.......2007-08-16
The glycemic index can be so daunting and overwhelming. This book summarizes the material in a clear manner using laymen's terminology. The explanations of the research and content are clearly understood. If I had to find any "short-coming," I would just ask for a lengthier list of GI foods. Close to 1,700 foods have been tested so far, and only a small fraction of these foods are included in the GI list of foods. Other than that, this books makes the GI index user-friendly!
Very informative........2007-08-09
I haven't completely finished reading the book, yet. But, it seems to cover every aspect of eating low glycemic index foods. The charts listing the ratings of foods are very helpful, as are the recipes. I've gotten a clearer understanding of how foods breakdown at different rates after you eat them. Can't wait to finish reading.
Awesome Book.......2007-05-18
I really enjoyed this book and its new views for a diabetic diet. Still trying some things out but it seems to be working so far. It cleared up a lot of things for me concerning my diet and the traditional low carb diabetic diet.

Absolutely Fantastic Cookbook!!!.......2007-10-01
I am not a vegan/vegetarian, but wanted to add more low carb vegan meals to reduce the amount of animal products we eat and to reduce carb intake as we are both pre-diabetic. Well, I am thrilled with this cookbook! I bought 7 vegan cookbooks recently, but I've cooked almost exclusively out of this book alone, and so far, all of the recipes have been GREAT! The 'Portobello Patties with Charmoula Sauce' recipe is out of this world! And the Cashew Creme is decadent. I loved the 'Edamame, snow peas, and bean sprouts with Ginger-lime Vinaigrette' salad. And the 'Victory Garden Stew' was excellent, although I added garlic, since I'm a definite garlic lover. Finally, I've tried every burger/cake recipe in the book with various sauces and have loved them all.
You can't go wrong with this cookbook, although some of the ingredients may be hard to find, such as artichoke hearts - but I haven't given up, there's got to be some gourmet shops out there that carry them!
If you want a cook book that contains a variety of TASTY vegan recipes, then this is the book you should buy!

too high carb for real weight loss.......2007-09-10
Each soup alone has over 20g of carbs! And that's just for soup not a meal! To lose weight (not just maintain your current weight) you can only eat 20-30grams of carbs per day, not per meal.
Most of these veggie cookbooks are for the rich anyway, a lot of the ingredients are only available at fancy-pants stores like whole foods. I hate to say it but diets like Atkins are within reach for low-income folks. Who has time (or money) to find something called 'mirin' whatever that is
Excellent book.......2007-02-09
I have tried multiple recipes in this book and I have liked each one thus far. There are ideas for things in here that I hadn't thought to try and recipes that implement things that I like but didn't really have recipes to include them in. I love to experiment with new things and this book really took it home for me. There's no greater pleasure than trying new foods and learning the best way to prepare things, yet still be able to eat healthy. Kudos!
not so much low carb, but smart carb.......2007-01-05
This is an excellent cookbook, first off it is all vegan so no dairy or eggs are used although she does mention that milk could be substituted for some recipies. I appreciate its vegan content since I am one, but I know that vegetarian meals can be heavy on dairy as well as typical low carb meals. I loved the tofu benedict and made three of the soups (amazing!) there are great side dishes and new ways to try different veggies. I think the sauces and condiments section are a real bonus in this book. If you are looking for more vegan low carb, I also recommend "low carb vegetarian" by Margo DeMello, a little less fancy meals, but we use more of them regularly (especially the *chicken* caesar salad).
i also appreciate the thoughtful intro about good and smart carbs, since its pretty much impossible to sustiain healthy balance being vegan and truly low carb.
Comparing 3 Low Carb cookbooks.......2006-11-16
When my husband developed acid reflux, it was recommended that he lower his carb intake. As long time lacto vegetarians (no fish, meat or eggs, yes to dairy), this sounded particularly challenging.
I bought 3 different low carb cookbooks from Amazon a month ago: "Low-carb Vegetarian" by Celia Brooks Brown, "Carb Conscious Vegetarian: 150 Delicious Recipes For Healthy Lifestyle" by Robin Robertson and "The New Glucose Revolution Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook: 80 Delicious Vegetarian and Vegan Recipes Made Easy with the Glycemic Index" by Dr. Jennie Brand-Miller
After a month of consistent cooking I have rarely used Brown's "Low-carb Vegetarian" which is laden with ~50% recipes that use eggs. There are some great recipes in there if you eat eggs though.
On the other hand, my copy of "Carb Conscious Vegetarian: 150 Delicious Recipes For Healthy Lifestyle" by Robin Robertson is a bit dog-eared already. Delicious, innovative recipes with new ways to use foods common to the vegetarian and wonderful exploring of unusual but easily available new veggies and protein options.
"The New Glucose Revolution Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook" by Dr. Jennie Brand-Miller was rich with information and great recipes. It taught me a lot.
But by far Robertson's "Carb Conscious Vegetarian" is the best.
I will say that I don't know these authors and am doing this to help a buyer who may be wondering which one to get...
By the way, a low carb/lower acid diet has really eased the acid reflux my husband suffers from. We eat a main meal during the day and a protein drink at night, even if working: switched when consuming. And I am starting to lose weight...
Hope this helps!

On the other hand, she also confesses that it’s more fun to shop for clothes when she’s eating fewer carbs. So what’s a carb-frustrated cook to do these days? Don’t go to extremes, says the force of nature behind Food Network’s 30-Minute Meals. Get real! With a little creativity and less than half an hour, now you can watch your carbs and eat them, too. great food.......2007-10-07
Another great book full of the tastiest simplistic recipes I have grown to expect from Rachael Ray.
Horrible & too much Pork .......2007-10-01
This book is horrible especially if you are someone that doesn't like or prefers not to eat PORK since half the Book requires PORK PRODUCTS. The meals are short but unless you start preparing the items you need - no meal is 30 minutes. Some of the items are Quick but not 1/2 & I am a Great cook that was not satisfied with this book. Sorry :(
Disappointed!.......2007-08-29
I was extremely disappointed with the recipes. Most of the ingredients call for unusual cooking items and most recipes call for salt. They just weren't appealing and I probably won't use anything from the book.
Racheal Ray's 30-minute Get Real Meals: Eat Healthy Without Goimg to Extremes.......2007-07-11
I was excited by the reviews I read on this cookbook and the fact that the receipes were not time consuming. How I was very dissappointed. There are many receipes for cooking pork and beef, both of which I eat in very limited portions. Also some spices I am unfamiliar with and would hvae liked to know what part of the grocery store to find them, without having to spend a lot of time searching.
It's Real Alright!.......2007-06-24
This is a must have book for busy parents who need to feed their munchkins quick and healthy meals. Recipes from this book keep baby smiling all the time. And they help keep dad from being mistaken for a grounded blimp. The meals are savory and delicious. Now if I could only have Mrs. Ray over to cook one for us some night---that would be a great treat!

Good Information.......2007-10-06
This book provides good, supported information regarding the effect of carbohydrates on blood glucose levels. It is a valuable tool in planning a diet that supports health and promotes weight control for those of us who are prone to hyperglycemia and metabolic syndrome.
Best Diet I Have Ever Tried.......2007-09-14
I heard about this diet from a co-worker. He lost 25 pounds before his wedding last year, so when I decided enough was enough with my weight, I looked for information online. This book is easy reading and very informative. It explains how certain foods effect the insulin levels in your body. The idea is keeping insulin level throughout the day. The diet doesn't really restrict any foods except sugar. This is one of the easiest diets I have ever tried and the GREAT part is, I do not have cravings or hunger pains. So far, I have lost 23 pounds in 6 weeks with moderate exercise 3-4 times a week.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to GI Weight Loss.......2007-08-23
This is an informative book. So far I have not had much success loosing weight and it has been 3 weeks. I am probably not following the rules.
Helpful!.......2007-08-14
A lot of what is in this guide is common sense but a lot is really helpful. I am a little stumped by the idea of eating a lot of veggies for breakfast but I'm figuring that out...
Very Informative, Easy to Read.......2007-08-10
Even if you're not going on the diet, the information in this book will be very useful to you. It will probably at least influence the way you eat and solve the mystery as to why you get so hungry after you eat certain foods.

The Everything Glycemic Index Cookbook.......2007-08-23
All the recipies we have tried so far are great. We are using in in connection with weight watchers, losing weight and my husbands sugar level is staying stable.
Nummy!.......2007-07-17
Easy recipes, easy to understand how it works with the Glycemic Index concept, and good for diabetics and hypoglycemia as well. Love the cottage cheese and tomato breakfast, as well as the Saturday Eggs, and Dieter's Delight (egg whites packed full of veg, and only 28 calories!). The Chicken Francoise with Fine Herbs was amazing, and far simpler than I thought.
Some recipes aren't so 'standard', but that's what adds to the appeal...tons of "normal", and plenty of "special recipes" to keep it fun and interesting. Majority of ingredients are found in my local grocery store, and the few left over are easily removed/replaceable, or found at an ethnic market, whole foods market, or butcher shop not far away.
Well written, maybe needs to be organized slightly differently, but I don't have any suggestions in that regard aside from taking it to the basic ideas of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack, Dessert, Beverage, etc...rather than some of the odd (true, but odd for your standard Jane Doe) categories it currently shows (keep all the recipes...just put in more "typical" category headings to aid in knowing what is meant for what kind of meal, etc).
Good.......2007-07-12
Very simple and easy to follow, packed with recipes, some a little repetative. But I do feel it was value for money..
Not a book I'll be using frequently.......2007-05-17
A lot of the recipes tend to include ingredients that are not readily available -- many cookbooks will suggest more common substitutes, but this one doesn't. Many recipes take far more time than I care to spend on preparation for everyday meals. I found only a handful of the recipes to be appealing.
Also, if you don't own (or care to own) a food processor, this book isn't for you -- nearly every recipe involves one in some way.
Finally, the way the book itself is laid out makes the recipes difficult to follow while cooking.
Nice Cookbook.......2007-05-14
Some of the recipes I probably won't use, but the recipes I do use are pretty tasty.
