impromptu lesson planning bonus.......2007-09-25
This book has easily accessible lesson plans that develops useful social skills. It also serves incredibly well for impromptu lesson plans which can be expanded in other creative ways. good also for an advisory or with students struggling in terms of behavior within the school system.
Ready-to-Use Social Skills Lessons & Activities for Grades 7-12.......2007-06-09
I love this book; It really encourages creative thinking and is a must for group work with adolescents. I highly recommend it!!!
Great Combo of Activities.......2007-05-14
Haven't used this in practice yet, but I read through most of the activies. This book offers a lot of great social skills activities that are easy to incoroporate in the classroom or for school counselors. You can easily pick and choose activities that might be useful in your own group sessions or adapt activities to your group goals. It could be improved by including more last session/wrap up ideas for closure. It could also implement additional processing questions so the user doesn't have to think to much to create his or her own.
Great Tool.......2007-01-13
This series of books are wonderful for students who lack social skills. I have shared the book's ideas with colleagues and all seem to enjoy the lessons provided.
This book was disappointing.......2007-01-03
The description said you could easily apply the skills and exercises at home, outside of the classroom environment, but it is clearly written for classroom use.
The author doesn't really explain what to do with each exercise either, it's seemed more like a list of suggestions or ideas than real activities. For instance they would say "come up with a story to show typical youngsters conflicting over a problem and give examples of how to resolve those problems without violence."
That's what I got the book for.... if I knew how to come up with scenerios like that and exercises on my own, I wouldn't need help.
I gove it 2 stars because there are a couple of worksheets included that do seem like they are useful practices, but other than that, this was a waste of money.
Book Description

great study aid.......2007-09-30
Great tool for anyone taking A&P. Easy pictures to follow and great study questions. A must for passing this class.
Anatomy & Physiology Coloring Workbook 8th edition.......2007-01-21
This book was necessary for my schooling. Its good.
great textbook adjunct.......2006-11-27
This book was really useful - the coloring parts are especially good if you are a visual learner. There's also more to it than just coloring in pictures - there are lots of fill-in-the-blanks sections to test your knowledge and review major ideas. This is where the only criticism lies....if you don't have the textbook (or a good knowledge of the material) then some sections will be hard to complete. Answers are provided, however, so overall, it is a really useful book and offers more than you might first assume.
Dissapointed.......2006-08-13
The paper has a wax like feel. It is slippery for colored pencil. There is not enough tooth in the paper to hold the colored pencil. No fun. :(
Great filler and study guide.......2006-07-21
I needed a good 'filler' and study guide for my Anatomy classes and this seems to fill the need beautifully. Not used it yet but will come back after the year starts in Sept. and give an update.

Well worth the money!.......2007-01-30
I bought this book based on other reviews that rated it so favorably. Initially, I balked at the price and admit that the price is the major reason why I gave it 4 stars, not 5. The price is absolutely ridiculous. However, if you are willing to pay the price of what this book costs, it is well worth your money. The questions really helped me on my exams for my undergraduate microbiology course and helped to reinforce the major concepts. I used this book with Schaum's Outline of Microbiology and I received an A in my course.
For those taking Introductory Microbiology..........2006-05-05
Questions in this book are very similar to the ones the teachers give in the introductory course of microbiology. Yes they are easy but how many questions you need to miss to get a low grade? It's value is in getting those few extra percents if you want that A+. I know it helped me in this capacity. But word of caution, I wouldn't be bragging about this book to your teachers...
I like this study guide.......2004-04-04
This book was a recommended study guide for my microbiology class. I found this book to be great for test preparation. The last review seemed to be mean-spirited. How could the previous reviewer make such an assumption without even reading the book? I wouldn't be surprised that this title appeared as a recommened reading in other book listings because it's a great study guide. Anyway, this book contributed to me getting excellent grades in my microbiology class. This book showed me which info was important for my exams.
Great test questions for college microbiology and USMLE 1.......2003-12-05
I took microbiology in college and found this study guide to help me a lot with the type of questions to look out for on my exams. I was recommended this book from my sister who used this as a reference to study for the microbiology portion of USLME step 1. She found it to be an excellent resource along with Microbiology Made Ridiciously Simple. Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers tested my knowledge so that
I know how much I was prepared before taking my college microbiology exams. I give this book 5 stars.
Excellent reference for the boards.......2003-10-26
I'm a medical student and found this book to be an excellent study guide. It helped me with studying for the USLME Step 1. I don't agree at all with the previous negative review. I give this book 5 stars because it showed me the type of questions to study for on my medical microbiology exams. It also proved to be a wonderful reference for USLME Step 1.

This book saved my life!.......2000-09-15
My biology professor recommended this book to help us refresh our knowledge of the chemistry needed throughout the course. It is well written and covers all necessary information. It has a student friendly format which helps you retain the information as you work your way through the book. If I hadn't had this book, I would have been more than a little confused. Happy reading!
excellent introduction to basic chemistry.......1999-02-03
This book saved me in my college-level intro bio class. I hadn't had chemistry, but decided to take the class anyway. This gave me the basics that I needed to support what I learned in my text and class, and it provided excellent review material at the end of the semester. I found that the systematic approach to building concepts very easy to understand, and the question/answer format made the material easy to remember. I would recommend this book to any student who is taking a biology class that is heavily rooted in bio-chem who does not have a strong chemistry background.
Good study guide for basic chemistry concepts.......1997-06-06
This book of 207 pages is compact and well organized. It provides a very basic overview of chemistry concepts. It covers general concepts of Inorganic, Organic, and Biochemistry. Basically this book is set up like a work book that the student goes through. Answers are given right by the questions so there is no flipping back and forth. It does a fairly good job of also incorporating general biology concepts. It contains reference illustrations such as the periodic table and the electron transport chain plus numerous others. I would reccomend this book to biology teachers at the high school level who desire to teach more chemistry in biology or who are teaching a combinded chem/bio class

Do you have zero control over your life? What are your frustrations? Do you lead a lazy lifestyle? To help teens take charge of their lives, Jay McGraw has created a companion workbook to his bestselling Life Strategies for Teens. The workbook is based on 10 "Life Laws" (adapted from his father Phillip C. McGraw's tenets), and is designed to help teens "see your life clearly, to understand what the problems are, what you need to fix, change, get rid of, etc." He encourages readers to put their thoughts, ideas, and dreams into writing to help them through the process. (The workbook is meant to be written in.) He demands that his readers ask themselves hard questions about missed opportunities, perceptions, self-sabotage, and personal shortcomings so they can figure out what's not working and fix it. Why? So that they can turn dreams into goals--with specific timelines and strategies. Here you'll find a variety of quizzes, activities, and questions to help teens answer the question "Who am I?" For example, McGraw asks readers to list 10 times they've dropped the ball--and why. Or, conversely, to list their 15 best achievements to date. The workbook also contains questions designed to challenge assumptions, such as "What are things you automatically, reactively feel and believe about members of the opposite sex/teachers/parents?" A hardcore guide to removing obstacles from our lives, Life Strategies for Teens Workbook has all the compassion of a drill sergeant... one who knows what's good for you. (Ages 13 and older)
Book Description
FROM JAY MCGRAW, THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF LIFE STRATEGIES FOR TEENS, COMES A WORKBOOK CHOCK-FULL OF QUIZZES, TESTS, AND QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU FIGURE OUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU ARE GOING.
So who are you? Are you the Teacher's Pet? The Slacker? The Jock? Do you let yourself be labeled by terms like these because it's easy, because you dress a certain way or listen to a certain rock band? Do you act the way you think others expect you to? Here's a more important question: Who are you really?
Jay McGraw's New York Times bestseller Life Strategies for Teens shows teens that Life Strategies are not just something for their parents, but that teens can use them to take over the driver's seat and steer their own lives as well. Jay speaks to teens as equals, and gives them the straight story he knows and has been through himself.
Now with the Life Strategies for Teens Workbook, Jay McGraw has created a fun-filled companion book to help teens work their way through the Life Strategies, and, in turn, through those tumultuous years between playing like a kid and acting as an adult. In the Workbook, Jay introduces a variety of entertaining quizzes, activities, and questions to help teens better answer the question of who they are. From figuring out the roles they play to determining the things they want to change about their lives, this is the perfect guide to showing teens the power of the Life Strategies, as well as the power of their own lives.

The transcation went smoothly, the book arrived sooner than expected, and was in perfect condition.
**TEEN READER**BEST BOOK I EVER READ! It is truely AMAZING.......2006-05-13
I have to say reading the comment above made me pretty sad. This book was not sending mixed messages and it is definately NOT telling you to be popular and that your parents will only love you more if you get good grades. This book is simply about helping yourself become more of what you want and getting more out of the life you were delt with. It makes me so sad to hear bad things about this book becuase that review probably stopped someone from buying this amazing book.
This book helped me through the toughest times in my life, it works with you and helps you see what is behind the "my life is perfect" mask that so many teens have. Amazing book, it changed who I am and how I act. For instance, in one chapter it talks about how in arguments if you just talk even if someone is yelling at you, you are not being passive, but in turn arguments turn into talks a lot more often. So as a test i followed this advice becuase i had just moved in with a step-sister my own age and we were not getting along very well. Now, that we stopped fighting (and i give all credit to this book) we are able to talk about what is bothering us and not fight. We couldnt be closer now. And that is exactally the reason i would recommend this book to ANYONE, it helps with topics like that without barking orders or telling you what you need to do or you suck as was stated above. This is an EXCELLENT book. BEST BOOK I EVER READ!!!!!
shut up!.......2005-11-04
well.. of course a person like me would have to read what people though before i wrote what i thought! i think that the people that don't like this book need help! why in the world would rich people not have problems!! and there is way more to these people than you think!! just because some of you are shallow and can't use your imagination and have fun with some of the jokes he throws at you doesn't mean you need to get mad!! grow up! there are more people who know that that book was good and i happen to believe strongly in what he wrote!! yes i have money but no i don't have the perfect life promise!! so just because a person has money does not make them unknowledgeable about real life! so think to yourself again maybe you just need to read between the lines or maybe your life was to perfect but i know that this really helped me and i am doing some of the things that he said and it has helped me alot through everything i have been through!!
What About Multi-Talented Teens?.......2005-07-07
It is so great that someone who has grown up with Dr. Phil for a father feels ready to share wisdom from his perspective with teens like himself. I found it much more effective than most books written by adults (who were teens in such different times!) There's one issue teens struggle with, however, that didn't get the attention it deserved: what to do when you love lots of different things but your guidance counselor and parents say you'll eventually have to pick just one. ...
Every teen needs friends like Jay!.......2005-06-24
Jay does a great job of explaining to teens the importance of "playing the game" wisely. His book carries an important message I had tried to communicate for years--you get much more of what you want when you keep your parents happy too!
My son wasn't interested in reading the book but reading it myself gave more than ample assistance in relating to my son. There were many times I was able to let slip into everyday conversation a little tidbit of Jay's wisdom without lecturing or preaching. Jay does this very thing in his book, which would have appealed to my son had he read it; Jay doesn't come across as this perfect person with all the answers, but as humble and real.
Highly recommend this book.

Great supplement for Biology students.......2006-06-06
I use this book to introduce topics to my students or to expand on different topics. It's very user friendly and great for high school biology concepts. I also have the biology coloring book by Robert Griffin and this one is a million times better!
Helped me with learning biology.......2004-08-14
I used this book to help me memorize important facts in biology. Although I had to use Raven's Biology book (not a bad textbook), this coloring book helped to reinforce the facts to my brain. I read somewhere that most people are visual learners. Being a visual learner myself, I found that coloring the pictures in really helped with learning the various structures. Sections on the cell were excellent. You could color in mitochondria or whatever other cell components. If you really want to know the kind of questions asked on college biology tests get the following:
The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Topics: Organization of Living Things & Chemistry of Life, Structure and Function of the Cell and Energy Pathways, Reproduction and Heredity, Genetics) Volume 1
The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Topics: Evolution, Ecology, Kingdom Bacteria, Kingdom Protista, Kingdom Fungi, & Viruses, Plant Form and Function) Volume 2
The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Key Review Questions and Answers with Epxlantions (Topics: Kingdom Animalia, Organization of the Animal Body, Animal Form and Function, Animial Reproduction, Development and Behavior) Volume 3
These last 3 study guides were awesome because it allievated a lot of my anxiety before taking my college exams. This is because they showed what type of questions that could be asked on my exams. In this way, it helped me to prevent getting surprise questions. The Biology Coloring Book also helped with fact retention. I got great grades because of the study guides and the biology coloring book
Biology Coloring Workbook - a disappointment.......2002-05-28
As an AP Biology student, I expected a coloring book that would have less misinformation and typos than this book did. Although coloring did help reinforce my memory of various topics, this book hardly covered any topic to the depth sufficient for a high schooler, much less for a first-year college student. Many pictures were pointless and had little to do with the concepts covered. I was especially disappointed with the basic organic chemistry in the first chapter. Griffith and Elson have a much better biology coloring book.
Alternative Learning.......2000-07-11
As a homeschooling mom, I found this book very informative and well-designed. My children (1 high school-aged taking college classes and the other elemntary school-aged) both enjoy the book and find it interesting. If you're looking for something for creative minds who have to have a reason to study a picture for a while to more fully understand concepts, this is the way to go. You can color the pictures or not and still get some useful material from this book.
Book Description
The Grine Lab Workbook is designed for the Human Anatomy Lab course and takes a REGIONAL approach as opposed to a systems approach. This approach is becoming more and more popular as a way to teach Human Anatomy. Instructors who use a lab book with a "regional approach" and combine it with a text that takes a "systems" approach offer their students a combination that serves to reinforce anatomical knowledge since it forces the student to see each anatomical structure from two perspectives. Grine can be used effectively in conjunction with a lab course that uses human cadavers since the content is presented in the regional sequence typically practiced in dissection.

If people are taught how to study the Bible, it will become the living and active instrument of grace God intended it to be. The Living by the Book Workbook is a unique tool which will teach the reader the techniques and principles necessary to glean life-giving truths from Scripture. While the original Living by the Book focused on the learning processes, this workbook allows readers to do more implementation and integration of those principles. Great resource for small groups and individuals!

Great book for learning how to learn from the Bible.......2007-06-27
Dr. Hendricks is a gem! This book is for anyone who finds the Bible overwhelming or intimidating. This book will help you develop method for study that will make the Bible easy to understand.
Solid info, yet easy to read.......2007-06-11
There are a number of books out about how to study the bible. This one does an excellent job of teaching how to study in a way that helps you avoid reliance on commentaries, as some others may lead you to do more. You will develop the skills of observation, interpretation, and application. It is worthy of a seminary course textbook, without being too heady.
Step-by-step to deeper study.......2007-03-12
I got this book as a textbook for a class at school, however, it has been most beneficial. This is great for anyone wanting to learn how to do a deeper study beyond just a daily bible reading. Easy to read, easy to follow, easy to use!
Studying the Bible Made Easy.......2007-03-09
This book is written in laymen termonology than anyone can understand. His points are straightforward, easy to comprehend, and practical in application. I really enjoy the exercises provided at the end of each chapter. It helps to learn and then to immediately apply that knowledge. I'm really enjoying this book and would recommend it for anyone wishing to further their knowlege of the Bible.
Paul M. Tucker.......2007-03-08
Dr Hendricks has taken Bible study back to it's real basics. Is it trustworthy, what does it say, what does it mean, and how do I apply it- today. I have seen much of this material in other books, but this book packages it in a better format and he makes it interesting. This should be where we start new believers, and this is where "old" believers can learn a thing or two. I have painters gloves that I use with the words found in this book to help me remember what I need to look for. I want to be a "HEARER" and a "DOER" of the Word. This book will help anyone with "The Book". It is meant to be used with prayer and the presences of the Holy Spirit.
