Book Description
The last two decades have seen structural equation modeling (SEM) emerge as a powerful data analysis tool for research in the social sciences, education, and psychology. With the advent of SEM computer programs such as LISREL and EQS, SEM has become a well-established and respected methodology. This book provides an introduction to the subject suitable for beginning graduate students. Its focus is on the basic concepts and applications of SEM within the social and behavioral sciences. The author develops SEM techniques by presenting linear regression, path analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and then more general structural equation models. In doing so, he is able both to explain clearly the underlying statistical methodology in SEM whilst at the same time illustrate the use of SEM to analyse real data sets drawn from a number of different settings in the behavioral and social sciences.

Useful USMLE Prep.......2007-02-21
This book has been helpful in my USMLE preparation due to the case-based format, high yield emphasis, and the anatomical pearls. However, this book was poorly edited -- there are numerous errors in the text, mislabelled diagrams, etc. If you plan to use this book, have an anatomy atlas at your side, so that you can have a second source for accuracy.
Excellent anatomy review.......2005-07-02
This is a succinct, carefully chosen set of cases and accompanying pearls, questions, and illustrations. At a time when medical schools are cutting back on hours of anatomic instruction, a source like this will be of value to medical students and residents alike. Highly recommended!

Helped me with microbiology class........2004-06-13
I liked this book because it showed the kinds of diseases and conditions bacteria, viruses, and parasites could cause. This served me well for my college microbiology classes. The material is fun to learn. After reading this book, I know longer look at eating sushi the same way again! This is because if a sushi chef is not certified, sushi can be served with parasites in them. For test preparation, I used Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers isbn;0971999635.
This study guide really helped me to prepare for the type of questions that were given to me on the test. I give both books five stars.
the perfect book for case studies in microbiology.......2001-12-21
The case studies are seperatered by organ system. This is the first book I have ever used that has done this. When taking a microbiology course the pathogenic microbes are presented by organ system so this format suits the course perfectly. The case studies are so much fun to do it's like a puzzle and you end up studying without even knowing that you've been studying. This book is also great for anyone who just loves reading about disease causing microbes anyone who has read the coming plague should buy this book and have some fun with their new found knowledge and do some medical problem solving.

Its a thrilling read.......2005-09-23
I saw her work on Court TV and she is amazing. The book is a fun read and if you like Court TV, Law and Order and the current show Medium--You'll love this book. I hope there are plans for a follow-up book, because I read this during a long car trip and couldn't put it down, I was even reading pages of it out loud to my husband a real cynic and even he was impressed -- Buy this book, get in a comfortable position and keep the lights on because its going to be a long night with a great book.
I absolutely LOVE this book!.......2005-08-07
It took me less than two weeks to read Noreen's book, and then, I wanted to read it again.
I think that everyone should read her book. Noreen Renier is very talented, and she's excelent at what she does. This book could open the eyes of so many people; it would let them see inside the psychic world, which is unknown to most people. Its very fascenating and interesting to read it, and see how she learned and grew over the years to later become a Psychic Investigator.
The book was written in the way that I like best. As I read it, I could emagine and picture in my mind everything she wrote about, the stories she told, the things that happened to her; it was all so clear to me how and why she bacame what she is today.
Noreen is the most experienced, most credible psychic I know, and she's the greatest! I have seen other psychics and have read other materials related to psychics, but no one and nothing else out there could ever come close to being anything like Noreen Renier.
Her book, "A Mind For Murder," tells everything about the true life files of NOREEN RENIER.
A Mind For Murder.......2005-07-28
Really interesting biography on the awakening of psychic abilities. Gives you a real inside look at how psychic investigator works. You will recognize this psychic if you watch Court TV's Psychic Dectective.
Love it.......2005-07-28
This Book is so awesome and I couldn't put it down. This woman is Blessed! She has inspired me to start using my mind in more ways. ************ You have to read this book.
Excellent book on intuition........2005-07-02
I read a lot of books on psychic abilities, experiences and how the authors' skills are developed/honed. I have to say this is one of the better ones aside from some minor grammatical errors. It keeps you interested and I finished it quickly. Some books laid out the psychic experiences like a straight transcript devoid of all feelings, and which creates a lot of empty spaces on the pages. I'm glad this book wasn't written that way. There were some instances when I was confused as to whom Noreen was "being", but that's why I have the book so I can always look back & forth a few lines to be sure. I've been anticipating this book since before it was released and Noreen doesn't disappoint. I'm glad for the paperback release as well, since I don't want to spend over $20 for a book without reviews yet. If you are intrigue by psychic abilities, read this, you won't be disappointed!

Hidden history of Stalin's life and of his rule (Published in Moscow, Russia - in Russian language)
Customer Reviews:
Well Researched But Theme Pushed Too Far.......2005-06-21
As the Soviet archives have been opened, researchers have had a rich treasury of new information on many Soviet figures, particularly Lenin, Stalin, and their lieutenants.
Serious Soviet scholars have long known that strong circumstantial evidence existed that Stalin had been a long time informer (and actual agent) for the Tsarist politcal police, the Okhrana. Using new Russian materials, including archives, interviews and unpublished manuscripts, the author seeks to fully explore and explain the consequences of Stalin's Okhrana service and the file left behind documenting it.
Had this information come out during Stalin's reign, it obviously would have been devistating. It would have exposed him as nothing more than an opportunistic fraud that had betrayed his Bolshevik comrades. Some had been imprisoned, exiled, or even killed as a direct result of his treachery.
Indeed, when Lenin discovered that his close associate Roman Malinovsky had been a Tsarist agent, he was humilated and enraged. When Malinovsky returned to the Soviet Union from abroad to try and make amends, he was arrested. After a brief trial, he was shot.
While a number of authors over the years have downplayed the seriousness of Stalin's past as an Okhrana agent, I would disagree. Some scholars have noted the very fine lines of double (and even triple) agents during this period. However, it seems Stalin, like Roman Malinovsky, was more than just an occasional snitch for the police. I believe his past treachery was serious enough that a good number of Soviets, many in the Cheka/NKVD, were killed to prevent the information from becoming public during Stalin's life. There is quite a bit of evidence for this, which, of course, is one of the main themes for this book.
However, while this book is well researched, I think it takes it's themes too far. In short, most of Stalin's murderous ways and high crimes are traced back by the author to the Okhrana file and Stalin's attempts to keep it from becoming public. I think that this is, in the end, far too simplistic an explanation for Stalin's behavior and methods.
I also have a few other problems with the work. One, the author continually tries to apply Freudian psychology to Stalin. Many of Stalin's actions are said to be based on certain psychological factors relating to events in his childhood and other periods of his early life (such as being beaten by his drunkard father). While such speculation is interesting, too much of Stalin's behavior is attributed to these factors with no real evidence -- just the speculation.
I also had some problems trying to find out exactly who some of the author's sources were and how they would have known the information attributed to them. In some cases, I was unaware of the person cited and could find no reference anywhere in the book as to who they were and why we should believe what they had said.
Students of Stalinist history and the Soviet State Security apparatus will find this a valuable work and an enjoyable read despite it's flaws. It is certainly the most detailed work yet on an old mystery from the early days of the Soviet regime.
