Book Description
In this book, the authors describe the full scope of family therapy with a strong emphasis on clinical practice (rather than just history and theory). This book contains up-to-date descriptions of the latest models, an expanded treatment of basic clinical practice, a rich description of the contemporary influences on the field, and a thorough, consistent emphasis on clinical techniques throughout. For family therapists.
Customer Reviews:
really great book.......2007-02-12
Great summaries of different theoretical approaches to working with families including techniques and where the theory originated from.
Great Resource.......2007-01-16
This is one of the best textbooks I have encountered for the beginning family therapist. It offers great theoretical explanation with helpful application to everyday practice. I would recommend it to anyone!
The title accurately describes the text!.......2006-04-10
This is a clear, concise and informative text that outlines the fundementals of family therapy. The title accurately describes the text. A must for those who are entering into family therapy!
Great Intro. To Family Therapy........2002-12-07
I am currently taking a Family Therapy course and I mistakenly bought this book. After buying the required text and examining the two, I decided that this one was a "keeper."
The authors are practioners in the field who have accumulated years of wisdom and knowledge about how the family functions. They do an excellent job of presenting the major treatment paradigms, without injecting their own biases into the explanation. I found this book to be immensely readable, and easy to digest and apply. I have been using this book more than the required text for the simple reason that it is very well organized, the theoretical presentations well thought out, and the writing style is warm and engaging.
I definately recommend this book. No way I will resell this one.

Made an A in A&P.......2007-08-13
I think my instructor had a lot to do with it, as well as some changes in study habits since I went to college the first time (2.68). But this book definitely helped. I had a 96 average in class. It's not an easy read, nor is something to try to do without some class notes, but I thought it was clear and informative.
Human Anatomy.......2007-07-25
This book was purchased for a high-school course.
Class hasn't started yet so can't rate the book
properly. I presume that it is good because the
school chose it.
Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology 8th edition.......2007-01-21
This book was necessary for my class. Its good, except I can't get the disk to work.
good condition-- a bit long for delivery.......2006-11-04
the delivery was a bit slow but the book was in perfect condition.
Nice and Well Organized Book. .......2005-08-10
I had this book for about two semesters, in college by the way. The first semester I dropped it and finally the second semester I got a B. Interesting hm? Anyhow, the book contains a large amount of information including very nice diagrams and photographs and has vastly improved in my opinion from the early first few editions. What makes this book extremely informative is the fact that it is pretty well organized and set up including indexing and clear contents listing. 16 chapters starting slowly from the basics of the human body, its relations to chemistry, cells and tissues, and finally going more in depth by digging deep into the organ systems and the human anatomy.
The diagrams are clearly listed, but of course I've seen a few errors. The information is just so much. Unless you are crazy about this, I doubt you'll remember much without reviewing it over and over continuously on a weekly if not daily bases. Almost each part in the diagram is listed out on the same page or a few pages back and forth to give the reader a more precise knowledge if the reader intends to know more of what the diagram/photo represents part for part.
The information is simply mind blowing and pretty exhausting to remember. Most readers of this and other anatomy/medical/etc related books would sooner or later ask themselves "who the heck would make up all these silly names and expect us to memorize it?!" The information is a little too compact for me and this is the only problem I have with this book, the simple fact that its a lot to comprehend and doesn't seem very intended in my Physiology and Anatomy basics class. Like always, mix other text books with this one if you intend to get everything out of this subject. No one book is perfect. Otherwise, its a decent book overall.

Essentials of Mechanical Ventilation.......2007-08-23
Working as a Critical Care paramedic in the Boston area I have had the oppurtunity to hear the authors lecture. Now I have the ability to use this book as a resource. I would recommend it to anyone who uses a vent. in their job.
Forced to by it for class.......2007-05-13
This book was a requirement for class. Book is extremely small for the price. I wish it had questions at the end of each chapter. A workbook would be great with this book. This book does not have the different ventilator brands and modes. For example - Drager, Servo, LTV1000 etc. Our teacher had to require another book just to go over the other brands.
Book needs - questions, workbook & chapters with specific ventilators.
easy but complete approach to mechanical ventilation.......2006-06-29
I've just begun specialization in ICU and I found this text a very useful and simple approach to mechanical ventilation.
It contains all the basic notions you need to understand the base of ventilation in patients who need this kind of support.
Good "basics" book.......2005-10-04
I used this book to study for board exams after practicing critical care ventilation for 3 years. Used it more for the jargon and specific terms than for physiology; it gave me what I needed. I would have liked more example scalars / PV loops, etc. But it has a good basic review of physiology as it pertains to ventilation.
Succint and Fluid.......2004-08-26
Very succint, fluid and easy to read and comprehend. Not intimidating either in size or content.
The concepts are very well explained.
Because I find it easy to read and more importantly, read again, I have made this as my primary book on mechanical ventilation.
Book Description
Designed for the one-semester course, Seeley et al.'s
Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology is written to allow instructors the ability to accomplish one overall goal: to teach the basics of A&P while fostering the skill of problem solving. Through learning how to solve problems and think critically, students learn A&P based on two themes: the relationship between structure and function, and homeostasis.
Customer Reviews:
A book you can learn a lot from!.......2000-08-07
This book is a great learning tool! It "teaches" you about your own body, how it works and why you should care about what you eat, exercise, etc. The book is very well structured, with an objectives list at the beginning of each chapter and reasoning skills questions at the end, that helps you develop study and observation skills. This is a great book that changed the way I see my body, I learned a lot with this book!!

Essentials of Diagnostic Microbiology.......2004-07-13
I am a medical labortory technition student. We use this as one of our primary microbiolgy textbook. After spending a couple of weeks with it, out teacher dug last years book out of the boxes. This book is full of errors, typos, and generaly hard to keep stuff straight. It sometimes seems that it was never proofread. Its full of good info, but I wonder how much is correct. I have bought 2 other books on my own for the class that I (and the teacher) rely on to verify the info in this book. If you can find this book cheap, buy it. Don't waste any money on full price.

IT IS WORTH IT!.......2006-08-09
I recently purchased Essential Math and Calculations for Pharmmacy Technicians by author, Moini. It definetly is a great choice! It is very easy to comprehend and full of useful information. I have purchased a few books by Dr. Moini, and have been pleased with all of them. But this one is by far his best! Awesome book! If you're in the Pharmacy field, I highly recommend this book as a great tool toward success! It is worth it.
Thank you!

Book Description
Accumulations of life stresses—physical injuries, emotional and psychological stresses, birth traumas, and toxicity—can become imprinted in the tissues, acting like a videotape that is replayed whenever stimulated. Biodynamic craniosacral therapy aims to resolve the trapped forces that underlie and drive these trauma-based patterns of disease and suffering in body and mind. Wisdom in the Body teaches practitioners to develop the finely tuned skills of hands-on palpation and perception to sense the body’s subtle rhythms and patterns of inertia or congestion, with the goal of ending trauma and facilitating the expression of the breath of life. A comprehensive introduction to this practice, the book draws on the insights of pioneers like Drs. W. G. Sutherland and Franklyn Sills to explain the key principles about the body’s natural intention to heal and how this capability can be encouraged. A valuable resource for students, practitioners, and the lay reader, the book also includes a foreword by Dr. Franklyn Sills.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing book.......2007-09-28
I couldn't have put it better than the last reviewer. This is by far, my favorite book that I've read on the subject of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. Kern has an amazing ability to put things into laymans terms, and because of that, this book is an incredible joy to read. Franklyn Sills, while a brilliant mind, doesn't really know how to break it down into terms a common person can understand. Upledger, who is clinically and medically gifted, also tends to overcomplicate the subject of cranialsacral work in his writings. Pick this book up, it's a must as a starting point.
Wisdom in the body, Michael Kern.......2007-01-06
Book Review
Wisdom in the body. The Craniosacral approach to Essential Health. Michael Kern
I love this book. It is my all time favorite cranial text book. It is a strait forward introduction to Cranio-sacral work. It reads well, the concepts are in a logical way laid out and discussed. Kern is extremely knowledgeable about the subject. He has a unique gift in translating complex subject matters into easily understandable and digestible language. The illustrations are very clear. You get a sense of the scientific benefits of this form of therapy AND the beauty of it. If there ever was a cranial book that you could read beneficially before bed time, this is it. I recommend this book to all professionals who want to know more about this modality. It will help you decide if you want to study cranial work. It will also give you clear guidance to which of your clients would benefit from this form of therapy. Ursula Popp

THANKS.......2007-09-18
This book came in a very timely manner and was in very good condition. I will use you again.
What a great learning experience!.......2005-08-24
The wonderful and numerous color pictures, the mass amount of info. I have been waiting for a textbook like this for years. My students have found the text very useful and important when studying for exams. This book has made my school maintain its high standard for its curriculum. My instructors have found it to be straightforward and unproblematic to teach from. I can't wait for more from Sandy Fritz! Wonderful I will recommend to all in the profession.
I learned a lot.......2005-08-23
I am just finishing massage school and used this textbook. The way the information was explained and the learning activites helped so much. All the information about the sciences related to massage making the reading interesting. The chapters on muscles and biomechanices were especially interesting. Even if you have used a different anatomy and physiology text book I really suggest you get this one to understand how the information relates to massage
don't buy this!!.......2005-08-19
Where do I begin? Poorly written, concepts partially explained then abandoned, useless index, inanely esoteric exercises. If you are writing a science book why not present the facts in a logical fashion. I read the intro & preface & I know what they were trying to achieve but they failed. Classmates with & without science backgrounds were equally appalled by the uselessnes of this text! Every classmate gave it a thumbs down. Can't believe my school was duped into using this book.
Book Description
This concise full-color manual is designed for students with minimal background in the physical and biological sciences who are pursuing careers in allied health fields. The 47 laboratory exercises are succinct and often divided into several separate procedures. This allows the instructor to select those exercises or parts that will best meet the needs of a particular program. Laboratories require a minimal amount of equipment, thereby preventing excessive lab costs.
Customer Reviews:
Most awkwardly worded anatomy book I've encountered!!.......2007-09-24
This textbook is supposed to be written for a student who has never had anatomy and going into allied health professional field. The wording and sentance structure is so awkward, redundant, and not clear. Terms are scattered so haphazardly that it can make reading this text a chore. Several members of my anatomy class have discussed how the chapters take so much effort to read and comprehend while the outline at the end of each chapter is crystal clear.
THIS LAB IS FAB.......2001-08-17
I cannot say enough about how well this lab manual is written to coincide with the textbook, Hole's Human Anatomy & Physiology. Being one of the most challeging courses I have yet to take, I found this manual a tremendous help, especially with the visuals. The diagrams are fabulous and helped me tremendously to memorize the parts that were crucial on tests. The chapters on dissection were written very clearly and well organized. I found this book to be a great aid in helping me achieve an A average for my class.
Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology.......2000-11-13
This book is an excellent book for beginner students of anatomy. Everything is explained in simple terms. This graphics are superb! I highly reccommend this book for anyone trying to learn anatomy.
