Kevin Trudeau Natural Cures Book review.......2007-09-16
I actually had purchased this book for my husband, thinking he would like it. I opened it up, and could not put it down. Since that time I ordered all of his books reading them with new awareness. This book was incredible, and I believe it to be true. We have completely changed our lifestyles since my husband and I read this book. My daughter was cured from "acid reflux" in 3 days. My son's excema is gone in less than 3 weeks from only eating organic food. This book was not only a great read, it has changed our lives.
Do your homework b4 you buy.......2007-09-15
I was going to by this book through the info commercials that he has as it advertised free shipping. So I called the number.
As usual, with the free shipping they had add ons for additional books, which is understandable
But, when I told her all I wanted was the book and the free shipping, she told me that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to receive my book unless I paid extra for the express delivery fee. I explained to her that, in this time and age to receive something after 4-6 weeks have gone by is just a rip off and I cancelled the order
After doing a bit of homework after that situation I saw a recommendation for Mikhail Tombak books and I bought them and they are great reading for someone that is proactive in their health care......and he is an actual biologist
Great Information!.......2007-09-11
I've been reading and learning about natural health and nutrition for years and I agree with everything that Kevin Trudeau talks about in his books because it is analogous to everything I've already learned in the past. This isn't new information but it's like a complete compilation of all the other books that I own and more. Trudeau suggests reading his first Natural Cures book before reading this one and I agree because his first book is like an introduction to his second book. Even though the first few chapters about the government, FDA, FTC, etc. can be tedious, I believe it is a crucial part of the book because it shows how much corruption is out there in government agencies and big corporations. They aren't concerned about the health of this nation, they are just there to make money. If you don't believe that, look around... the evidence is everywhere. Some people who gave this book bad reviews look as if they've never even read the book. The saying is true, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
PS: If you think his list of suggestions on how to never get sick (chapter 13) is impossible to follow, just do what you can do and gradually add other items into your list of good health habits. You'll be glad you did!
great but not affordable.......2007-09-06
My husband bought me this book cause he's into all that natural healing stuff, and the book is good, but most of the products he recommended to buy (in the back of the book), I would never be able to afford!!! The simple things like apple cider vinegar for acid reflux/weight loss and staying away from food with preservatives was very helpful, but why promote products that most people can't afford?! And I wish their natural cures site gave info for free!!!

Loving This Book!!!.......2007-08-17
I would have given this book more than 5 stars, if I could!
I checked it out via my local library, but will be purchasing it, for sure.
The book is well laid out; you don't have to read the whole thing to get to what you need. There is a section for each cleaning zone of your house, kitchen, bathroom, laundry, etc...
The recipes for cleaning (also in their own section) are easy to make, and come from readily available, healthy alternatives...and perform much better than their toxic cousins.
I am so impressed at the performance of club soda; I never knew Windex and Glass Plus weren't working that well, until I tried club soda instead. My shiny surfaces look fantastic; at 50 cents a liter, who would want to pay more for chemicals?!
I have also been pleasantly surprised at how soft baking soda makes my laundry; goodbye fabric softener.
This book does a good job of encouraging you to become "more" green; not just for people who want to throw everything out and start over, but for people who want to change one or two things in their house to reduce the negative impact they may have on the environment. The awesome side-effect is, many of the "green" alternatives really do clean better, and are wayyyyy cheaper; trust me, I've cleaned houses for a living, and was one of those suckers who bought a diferent cleaning product for every surface in my home.
I have a 9 mo old in the house 2 days a week, as a part-time nanny, and I am proud to say, there is now nothing in my cleaning cabinet, that I would worry about her getting into; it will remain child-proof, for sure, but, if she drank my window cleaner, now, the worst that would happen is a big club-soda-burp.
Thanks, Green Clean!!!
Very good for some.......2007-08-14
This is a very good book for someone just starting out or who is thinking of "going green" for the first time. It has a lot of common sense information and guidelines on how to clean. It has good basic information on the hazards of commercially made products. Everything is very clearly laid out and the non-paper book is a very good idea for an environmentally friendly cleaning book.
What it is not good for is for someone who already knows the hazards and has been green cleaning for quite some time. I had been looking for something more up to date than my first edition of "Clean and Green" by Annie Berthold-Bond but this one is not it. I am looking forward to trying the "Vinegar of Four Thieves" and maybe a few other of the recipes and I have never seen a guide to laundry labels before (now I will know what all those triangles and little irons really mean). But the rest of the book is full of stuff any environmentally aware person would already know and if I had seen the book before buying, I would not have bought it. I will photocopy a few pages and then recycle the book on to someone to whom would like to begin going green.
Great purchase for everyone.......2007-07-19
I really liked this book and it gave a lot of helpful tips about hot to clean your house using all natural products. The book talks about how harmful all the additives and chemicals in cleaners are and it makes sense. There is a little bit of fluff with just common recommendations about random parts of life but it is very interesting and helpful. I would definately recommend this book.
Bamboozled no more!.......2007-07-03
I used to think I had to use the nuclear option to clean my house. I had to use the harshest chemicals to disinfect and clean. Then I had a baby and read about the dangers that household cleaners pose to her development and decided I'd use a little more elbow grease to keep my family (and the environment) safe. New research has shown that breast cancer, for instance, is more environmental than hereditary. Its cause has been linked to 200 everyday chemicals including the dioxins in household bleach. Another reason I made the switch.
This book has recipes for cleaning and shares the history of cleaning products. After reading it I realized my cleaning choices had been shaped by the successful marketing of companies who were selling dangerous chemicals in pretty bottles. Now, I buy natural, human and environmentally safe products or whip up my own cleaning products on the cheap!
Green advice that's easy to use!.......2007-05-10
I borrowed this book from the library to check it out first. But, now I'm buying it. The beginning could be skipped if you want to get right to the nitty-gritty! :) The recipes for cleaners are at the end and they work well!
I highly recommend this book to save you money and most imporantly, help save the environment!

great book, but supply your own common sense.......2007-10-03
This is a great book, with lots of helpful ideas on ways to clean naturally (and effectively--always important!). She has a more recent book, but this one beats all for its long listing of ways to treat various stains. My only complaint is that sometimes her definition of toxic varies from mine (for instance, she acknowledges that an ounce of borax may be toxic for a 150-lb. person, but then calls for that in many recipes anyway, and she recommends alum in a place or two even though it contains aluminum), and that she's lacking in common sense in a couple of places. A prime example of the latter was one of her recommendations for treating berry stains: from a height of three feet, pour boiling water onto fabric that's stretched tight. Aiaiai! That recipe is almost guaranteed to cause burns, and I'm surprised she lists it, since she also says that MILK will remove berry stains. So it's a great resource, but remember to bring your own common sense to the table when using it.
Missing web addresses.......2007-03-31
This is a good book but none of the companies she mentions have web addresses which would be very helpful.
lots of info.......2007-03-26
This was a big help and had everything I needed answers to.
Very informative although difficult at times to follow.......2006-09-25
I've had this book for quite awhile, actually for a year now and find that it is an excellent reference for green cleaning. Annie provides not only home-made recipes but recommendations for ready-made green products that you can find either online or at your health food store; as well as references to ingredients and resources for additional reading. This was actually the first book that I read about green cleaning and it spurred me on to seek more information and change my house-keeping and cleaning products and habits entirely. For the beginner, though, I would recommend "Clean House, Clean Planet" as it is more instructional as to how to properly mix the ingredients to get the best results.
This small book tends to be overwhelming in its amount of information and sometimes the recipes can be hard to find when you're in a hurry and looking for a particular item. But all in all, like her other book "Better Basics For The Home", it is a gem that would be a wonderful addition to anyone's green clean library.
Info for M. Windsor and others who don't know.......2006-08-22
Grape seed oil is a good source of vitamin E. Both vitamin C and E are used as preservatives because they are anti-oxidants (prevents oxidation or rotting). Check out the labels on the organic or high end "natural" pet foods and you will clearly see them used as preservatives. Sodium chloride (salt) is a preservative (think bacon) and causes water retention and that's why chefs typically use unsalted butter and then add sea salt as needed. So the author of this book was correct.
Book Description
Stephen Leeb shows how hard times can be a boon for smart investors. As the world faces an energy crisis of unprecedented scope, renowed economist Stephen Leeb shows how surging oil prices will contribute to an economic collapse. With meticulous research and analysis, Leeb shows that due to strong competition from India and China, prices could soon double, a cost for which most countries and investors are ill-prepared. Now, in this groundbreaking book, Leeb not only shows how this crisis will affect consumers, but how savvy investing can turn these dire times into financial gain.

Hits the Mark.......2007-10-04
I found Leeb's book to be well reasoned and devoid of the hysteria so common to books forecasting problems for the dollar and the US economy. The worst thing about this book is the title because the 'economic collapse' phrase may cause many to think it's written by a crank. That is certainly not true.
Leeb ties in the rising price of oil with America's debt problems and shows what options remain for the Federal Reserve and the government. It's not that complicated. They have to inflate because a deep recession would crush an economy so burdened with public and private debt. We already saw this after the 2001 stock crash. They cut rates to near zero and doubled the national debt in 7 years rather than suffer a cleansing recession. The feds know how bad it could get. America can't afford to risk a recession due to all the debt and leverage in every part of the system.
In 2007, the situation has become much worse because now we have an imploding housing market and a falling dollar. Interestingly, Leeb stated in the book that he didn't think housing would crash. He figured the feds would inflate at all costs to prevent it from happening because a housing collapse is far worse than a stock market crash. He may yet be right, but home prices are surely falling right now. So, what will the government do - double the national debt again?
Look at it this way. If the economy continues to grow then demand for oil will grow and we'll hit supply constraints and higher prices much faster. That means inflation. If the economy slows due to housing or oil or slowing consumption, then the feds will have to inflate to prevent a deflation. No matter how you look at the problem, it seems the news will be bad for the dollar. Faced with the facts and inflationary scenarios Leeb presents, I think a reasonable person would want to own some gold.
Leeb's portfolio suggestions are a bit extreme for me and I'd balance them a bit. However, he's been right so far. This is a very good book in all respects.
Predictions so far spot on target . . . . .......2007-10-01
I've read and re-read this book over the last year and have to say that Leeb's predictions have been very, very good. In fact, much, much better than my advisors and their research departments in the financial services industry. Oil service stocks such as Schlumberger, National Oilwells Varco and Transocean have been fantastic performers over the last three years and continue to rise despite a mediocre market. Resource companies such as Freeport Mcmorran, Teck Cominco and CVRD continue to rise. Russia & Venezuala are nationalizing their oil industries. Iran's nuclear ambitions are partly because they are running out of energy to feed their growing population. Gold is now over $750 an ounce! The US dollar continues a steady decline against other world currencies. The US Federal Reserve has lowered rates by 1/2 a percent because they know how vulnerable and debt laden US households are with the housing decline. In other words, inflation is the only solution to the fix the US is in. The war on Iraq and the War on Terror has sucked up precious resources and requires the govt. to print more money. The Fed is in a real bind right now and they are following the course predicted by Leeb. If the Fed had raised rates or kept them the same, then I would say Leeb might have been wrong. Large cap Chindian stocks such as Procter & Gamble are doing well as are infrastructure plays such as Chicago Bridge & Iron (mentioned by Leeb) and Foster Wheeler. Oil is now over $81 a barrel and rising. US Small Cap stocks are not doing well - my US small cap fund has preformed dismally. At the same time, financial advisors continue to be in denial of the new reality. Hats off to Mr. Leeb: I'm making money thanks to his thoughtful advice. As a Canadian seeing our dollar now at par with the $US for the first time since 1976, the price of our grain rising 40% in one year (partly due to ethanol production) and the crazy rush of resources into our tar sands, I can tell you that Mr. Leeb has hit the target with his book and predictions.
Great Book!.......2007-09-21
The information listed is in line with everything else I've read. Great presentation and full of facts. I enjoyed reading it.
Peak oil from an investor view.......2007-09-03
Author Stephen Leeb recounts the anarchy, chaos and immense suffering that followed in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita and suggests this may be in our future in a broader way if and when the oil flow that largely supports our wealth creation is abruptly decreased. The "new world" that could emerge might be one of greatly reduced complexity. Systems like clean water/sewers, computing power, organized transporation and large-scale production, medicine and chemical-supported/mechanized farming could diminish into a more localized, much less resource-intensive - and even Amish-like subsistance.
In any issue like "peak oil," a multi-faceted view is needed to grasp the deep truths. This book reveals some of the same scenarios layed out by other authors concerning the forecased economic disaster looming ahead - but brings some additional perspectives from the world of investments. One can tell reading several of the sections that the suthor indeed is an investment professional and not an environmental sustainability guru. Where other books on peak oil (Hubbart's Peak, 1000 Barrels a Second) are loaded full of technical graphs, Leeb's account here is loaded with investment advice on how to prosper if/when such a downfall insues (his advice bsaed on the 70's oil crisis: buy gold, real estate, oil company stock and China/India investments).
Of surprize to many readers will be almost no mention whatsoever of ecological issues related to oil like climate change or other eco impacts. In fact, where the author finally gets around to mentioning global warming, much to his credit he brings out a potent reality rarely mentioned in the peak oil discussion: petro-chemicals and their essential products will also potentially plummet severely. These are the plastics, resins, asphalt, polymers, films, PVC pipes and other essential products we take for granted.
In the end, Mr. Leeb seems somewhat hopeful (unlike others) that technology - if applied quickly and with an Appolo-like lazar focus - might save the day. He is bullish on wind power, a renewable that is closest to competing now with fossil fuel power. But, many others state the case for a more sustainable world based on new, totally reimagined ways of doing things much better than the author here.
In short, if you are concerned with how your portfolio should change if oil starts climbing over $100/barrel, this is a decent book to inform. Otherwise, for a broader view on impacts of peak oil and the other critical issues facing civilization, Lester Brown's "Plan B - Rescuing a Planet under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble" is a compelling choice.
Ok already, we know you have written The Oil Factor .......2007-08-31
It is an interesting and well written book. My only gripe was that it seemed that every other sentence mentions, "...in my other book, The Oil Factor...." This just got plain annoying.

Great Stuff.......2007-10-01
This book is fantastic!! It really get into the details so you clearly understand the path of where things come from. It's enlightening and well worth the money. While educational in nature it is also very interesting. You can't help running around the house looking for someone to tell them what you just read.
Great Stuff.......2007-05-16
Stuff is a terrific exploration of the lifecyle of products and services that we pay for as consumers. This book feeds us info, but more importantly, shows us how to be more aware of what we consume and why. Great exercise for anyone interested in learning or teaching about our environment, (which should be everyone!)
Book and HTML versions are very different.......2007-01-03
I bought the "HTML edition" thinking that I'd save a tree and burn pixels instead. But the HTML is not the book; it is a very short essay. If you're expecting the same content as what's on paper, be warned.
Excellent information! An Easy & Fun Read!.......2006-07-31
Ryan and Durnings book contains excellent information about products we use everyday, and how our choices matter. After reading the first section tracing the history of coffee, I was prompted to go to my health food store and purchase "shade coffee" (organic or cooperatively produced).
I especially liked the sections at the end of each chapter on "What to Do?" with their helpful recommendations. I'm a social psychologist and author of "Quotes, Questions & Actions for Global Understanding". I highly recommend Ryan and Durning's book to all who want to easily make better choices in their day-to-day activities.
Serious but fun read.......2006-02-08
This is one fun and informative book and one I am buying for young as well as older friends. I sit here typing on a computer keyboard and because of the book I see things I never really stopped to see before. And with this comes questions and answers about how many people and natural resources does it take to make all the elements of this modern marvel. Not just the keyboard, monitor and speakers, but the people behind Amazon.com who are consuming coffee, flushing toilets, using lights and machines to process my order.
This is what the book is all about. Becoming quiet and looking around at everything we touch and consume and looking at the bigger picture and 'seeing' all the hands, and natural resources it has taken to produce the coffee we drink, water we drink, car we drive, magazines we read, lights we use, clothes we wear, and the list goes on.
At the end of each chapter, rather than leave the reader feeling like a glutton and bad, the authors have suggested better choices or alternative. Like writing about the average T-shirt and what it takes to make one to what it takes to care for one the authors suggest that one wash only full loads and don't wash after every use but when the item is actually dirty. T-shirts in summer cool the body better which means less AC use, and in winter extra layers of clothing means less heating costs.
Anyway, the book is one that even when I re-read it I discover something new that I hadn't read before. Will check out their other books as well.

Book Description
Longing for a kinder, gentler world? As the old saying goes, everything begins at home, and odds are, if you live in the all-American household, the air inside is more toxic than the air outside, even if you live in the most polluted of cities. You regularly handle the filthiest object in your home -- the kitchen sponge -- and put the same chemicals on your face that are used in brake fluid and antifreeze.
The cleaning agents and personal care products commonly marketed to and used in American homes contain not only some very dangerous, toxic chemicals, but they also create an "overly clean," chemically bombed-out house that compromises immune systems. And with more than fifty million Americans suffering from allergies and other autoimmune diseases -- not to mention the developing and fragile immune systems of children and seniors -- large numbers of people are actually being made sicker and sicker by their homes.
Learn to live a clean, healthy, more economical way with Ellen Sandbeck, the nontoxic avenger. In this must-have book for the twenty-first- century home, this passionate, witty advocate of all things organic will teach you how to maintain every part of the home -- from living room to septic tank, kitchen floor to bathroom sink -- using safe, simple cleansers and quick preventative measures as well as the most effective organic products on the market to get the job done.
Learn time-saving, preventative housekeeping, such as taking thirty seconds to clean the shower while you shower. Take care of bathroom stains with baking soda and vinegar rather than commercial, toxic bathroom "bombs" peddled to you with such force by manufacturers. Need whiter whites? There is no bleaching power on earth stronger than the sun. Snow clean your fine rugs. Choose fruits and vegetables from the relatively pesticide residue-free list. Clean felt-tipped pen stains with vodka. Make furniture shine with olive oil and lemon. Your house will also smell as great as it looks.

This Book Is Awesome.......2007-08-22
I saw this book at a bookstore and rushed home to Amazon to get it. :) It is a great reference for housekeeping. I couldn't believe all the things you can do with random household products. Like baking soda... Awesome!
Fun to read, Great reference.......2007-08-03
In many ways, this is a good Organic Living 101 book. I received this book as a Christmas gift and wasn't sure what to think at first. I was pleasantly surprised. This book has not only been enjoyable to read but has become a valuable reference as well. Lately, whenever I've had a question regarding safe cleaning or home maintenance, I find the answer here - from concerns about ants to cleaning carpets to cleaning the shower. I've also found great advice and ideas for getting organized around the house. I appreciate the author's goal to spend LESS time cleaning - not more!
Down to Earth with REAL, EVERYDAY advice.......2007-07-07
This is the 1st time I have taken the time to write a review about any book. That should say something at least. This book has become my bible as I have bought and begun to renovate my first-ever home. While my mom is nagging about bleaching out the basement and hiring a pest control service, I am able to come back to Organic Housekeeping for advice that is in line with my morals. This book is NOT preachy. Instead, it offers practical advice for straight-to-the-point how to do ____ without poisioning your family (pets included!). Thank goodness for this book! I recommend it to everyone who has an interest in being green. :)
Well scrubbed book.......2007-05-13
This book includes a lot of common sense/tried and true methods for cleaning (and yes they do work) along with many new ideas I had not heard of before that are simple to carry out. I like that fact that the material is not toxic and will not set off my asthma like some of the store-bought items do.
Excellent Book.......2007-04-03
This book is full of excellent advice. I have been concerned about the products that I use for cleaning for a while and this book gave me a great one-stop resource to start doing something about it. The introduction on how to handle the mountain of stuff we tend to accumulate was a welcome bonus (buying a copy for my ex-wife just for that!).

Great Soap Book!.......2007-09-25
I purchased three books on soapmaking, and in my opinion, this one is by far the very best! The author's instructions are clear, concise, and the techniques are simplified and de-mystified over other soapmaking books. I made my first batch of "Anne's Shea Butter Supreme" today, and the soap turned out beautifully without a glitch. I also had a newbie question about a product I purchased, so I emailed the author. Anne responded back quickly and was very helpful, a fact that I greatly appreciated! I can't wait to use my soap and make more of the recipes from the book.
I LOVE This Book!.......2007-08-14
Anne makes soapmaking simple -- I'm a newbie and I'm still learning. This book gives just enough information to educate, without overwhelming. She challenges the "soap theology" of most of the other books, but it makes sense.
I highly recommend it!
Great things come in small packages!.......2007-07-09
This book has everything you need to start making soap. The instructions and illustrations for the cold-process of soap making are easy to follow, the recipes are simple and produce great soap every time. Anne's Shea Butter Soap is a very versatile recipe, and her references to other sources are invaluable. Would love to see the author produce a volume of soap recipes!
smart soaping.......2007-05-07
You can't go wrong with this book. If you get anybook on soaping this is the one you need.
Great Book for Beginners.......2007-04-23
This was my very first soapmaking book and I love it! Anne makes soapmaking easy with her well written instructions and great recipes.
Book Description
The first comprehensive guide to combining traditional natural materials and modern construction methods.
From adobe to straw bales, traditional building materials are being adapted to meet code-required standards for health and safety in contemporary buildings around the world. Not only are they cost effective and environmentally friendly, but, when used correctly, these natural alternatives match the strength and durability of many mainstream construction materials.
This book examines a broad range of traditional and modern natural construction methods, including straw-bale, light-clay, cob, adobe, rammed earth and pise, earthbag, earth-sheltered, bamboo, and hybrid systems. It also covers key ecological design principles, as well as current engineering and building code requirements.
Experts on each building system have contributed core chapters that explore the history, development, climatic appropriateness, environmental benefits, performance characteristics, construction techniques, and structural design principles for each method. More than 200 visuals depict both construction processes and completed structures. An extensive resource guide shows where to go for further information, training, and research.
In an increasingly resource-conscious era, alternative construction is truly an idea whose time has come. Whether you're an architect, designer, student, or homeowner, this book will help you to combine indigenous building materials with modern construction systems and design standards to create low-impact, high-quality buildings that meet the highest levels of comfort, health, and safety.

Alternative Construction.......2001-02-24
This is an excellent resource book for those seeking to learn more about alternative construction methods and materials. It introduces the reader to straw bale, cob, light straw clay (a marvelous material), rammed earth and many other ecologically appropriate materials. It doesn't provide enough detail to help you build with these materials but it will help you choose which might be good for you and guides you to some of the key people and resources. The chapter on natural conditioning of houses is outstanding and provides performance estimates for a variety of building materials in cities as diverse as Denver and El Centro.
david bainbridge is one of the authors of the Straw Bale House and a pioneer in passive solar heating and cooling.

Book Description
When Europeans first reached the land that would become the United States they were staggered by the breadth and density of the forest they found. The existence of that forest, and the effort either to use or subdue it, have been constant themes in American history, literature, economics, and geography up to the meaning of the forest in American history and culture, he describes and analyzes the clearing and use of the forest from pre-European times to the present, and he traces the subsequent regrowth of the forest since the middle of the twentieth century. Dr Williams begins by exploring the role of the forest in American culture: the symbols, themes, and concepts - for example, pioneer woodsman, lumberjack, wilderness - generated by contact with the vast land of trees. He considers the Indian use of the forest, describing the ways in which native tribes altered it, primarily through fire, to promote a subsistence economy. Early European settlers, he shows, extracted many products from the forest, and also began the extensive clearance of trees that would continue for almost three hundred years. Succeeding chapters, organized by topic and region, cover agricultural and industrial effects upon and uses of the forest. Dr Williams explores the rise (and often fall) of industries based upon forest products: naval stores, timber for building, charcoal and the iron industry, the railroads. Attention is devoted to the forests of the Middle West, the South, and the Pacific Northwest. By the late nineteenth century Americans began to realize that the forest was not boundless and moved to preserve those portions, still extensive, that remained. In the wake of the movement for preservation, Dr Williams describes how the forest began to regrow, especially after 1950, in areas where it had originally been vigorous and healthy, a development that continues today.

Easy Steps To Make Your Own Product.......2007-03-24
I found the information to be very simple. The products are available in most health food stores and they are fun to make.
Natural Beauty Cheap!.......2005-07-20
This book is great- I've tried a bunch of the recipes and they were actually pretty easy to make and worked well, unlike another book I have on making your own lotions and shampoos. I've tried the Lavender-Rosemary Deoderant and the Silky Smooth Liquid Soap that we use in our office. I've also recommend making these things with children- they make great presents. One of the unique things in this book is the Picnic Cleanser which works really well when travelling. The mouthwashes work great too!
