Rediscovering the Kingdom by Dr. Myles Munroe.......2007-10-02
This is a perfect book for a Christian Library. The concept is based on God Kingdom. This book is perfect to use in Sunday School classes or just for personal study. I enjoy reading it and I'm still using it as a reference.
Outstanding Book.......2007-09-24
This book changed the way I've viewed myself and introduced me to a world I never knew existed. It revealed my position as a child apart of a royal family. Thank you, Dr. Munroe. My prayer is that every child of God gets this book and discover who they really are.
Most important subject.......2007-08-14
Myles Munroe has hit on the most important subject in the bible, The Kingdom Of God. The emphasis has been on everything but the kingdom for far to long. Munroe has re-focused our attention on the importance of seeking the Kingdom of God. His unique insight on the subject gives the reader a view of the Gospel that would otherwise not be seen. Being from the Bahamas, he has lived the part of a kingdom dweller and knows first hand what it's like. He then correlates this experience with the life of a believer in Jesus Christ and what comes out is a tremendous work on 'Kingdom living'. If you're serious about your walk, this is a 'must read'.
Rediscovering the Kingdom Audio Book by Dr. Myles Munroe.......2007-08-06
Life Changing, Such a needed word for the Body Of Christ.
Kingdom Information and Impartation.
Thank You Dr. Myles Munroe for allowing God to use you to share so great truths about the Kingdom Of God.
I am finally getting past the door.......2007-06-27
This book is an illumination of truth in a world wasting away in denominational and religious darkness. I thank God for the grace to stay with my faith until this point to read a book that is so dynamic and confirms the good work that God, through His Holy Spirit, has started in me. Prior to this book I thought I was crazy or that everyone else just wasn't getting it. If it's not the off the shelf cracker box Jesus, most people don't accept the idea that our faith is deeper than just Sunday morning church. Thank God for people like Myles Munroe who take the time to spend with the "tutor" and re-discover the truth.

The Kingdom Has Arrived!.......2007-09-24
The Kingdom has arrived in my life. The message and life of Jesus Christ finally makes sense and is practical for everyday living, and I mean living. I am free to live life.
After reading this book, I am beyond enlightened and now I'm transformed and my mind has been renewed. I am free from religion and the burden of tradition and also all foolishness and live as a Kingdom citizen.
Thanks Pastor Myles for this book, God is good.
It's all about the kingdom, not tradition.......2007-09-07
This book arrived very quickly in new condition. If there is anyone out there seeking a new level in God and tired of traditional pulpit stories that don't quench your thirst for relationship with God, run to order this simplistic, real understanding of Jesus' will while on the earth and his will today as well for believers. In essence, read it in order to clearly realize how your life has been robbed by erroneous teachings and doctrines of "yesteryear." Whatever you do, get this book and read it and read it, and read it. You will not regret the small investment.
Clarifying Christianity!.......2007-08-29
Myles Monroe has a gift of cutting through the religiosity of our cultural Christianity and revealing just why God came in the form of man to redeem us from the results of sin, thus returning us to the beneficial rights provided by the sacrifice. If you arent sure if you are a sheep or a goat, take the time to read this, for Heaven's sake! Or buy it for a pharasee you care about!
The Glory Explained.......2007-08-25
I found this book breathtaking and very informative. Talking about being squezzed Myles Monroe explains it just like it is. A Great Write.
Recommended Reading.......2007-08-14
An important book for Christians and those investigating religions. It reaches into a neglected area of our religious teaching. However, it should be read as an addition to our knowledge and not as a narrowing of our focus.

Excellent book for Biology GRE Preparation.......2007-10-07
Although it's not marketed this way, Schaum's outline is a concise yet complete study guide for the Biology GRE subject test. Topics like the endocrine system, plant evolution and development, and nutrition, which are given short shrift in the Princeton Review and Kaplan study guides, are fully covered in this book. More diagrams are provided (although there are no color figures - ditto for PR and Kaplan), as well as handy review tables. The explanations are at an appropriate level for GRE examinees: there is not too much extraneous information. Occasionally, the authors will throw in a humorous aside or phrasing (see def. of sexual selection, parts of Ch.17, etc.), which makes you pay closer attention, but overall the tone is serious (no BS analogies or condescension here).
At the end of every chapter are worked problems in essay and multiple choice formats. These questions cover GRE material but aren't presented in the same style. If you're using this book for GRE preparation, you should also consider buying a book with one or more practice tests in order to familiarize yourself with the exam format.
This Book's Got It All!.......2007-01-17
I bought this book to prepare the DAT. It helped so much and I couldn't have made it without it. I do recommend it, it's way better than those common books dealing with how to prepare the DAT, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, they're just not as specific as this one. Totally worth the money, go for it!
Useful book for recalling established knowledge.......2006-11-08
Well organized, full text book with essential topics on biology. Excellent tool for GRE exams and anyone with basic knowledge on biology, who needs a quick reviewing.
GOOD Reference, LOTS to Read.......2006-07-25
My favorite chapters included Kingdom Fungi, Photosynthesis, excretory system and structure and function of chloroplasta. Like a previous reviewer, I used this book to prepare for the biology section of the DAT (Dental Admission Test). This is a good reference, it explains with examples that get the facts to stick to your brain. Yes, it requires studying, but then again what subject doesn't?
Another great book I totally recommend is "The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations". Volumes 1,2 and 3. It is written by Patrick Leonardi. It is an excellent review for the biology portion of the DAT exam..
Too much information... Just make it simple.......2006-02-27
I was looking to get up to speed to teach an intro bio class for community college. After reviewing bio texts, I bought this book thinking that it would be a great summary, review and offer quiz questions for bio. I wanted it to be to the point, revelant, and a pithy supplement. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. This book didn't highlight or sum up bio. It went into in-depth discussions that might be of interest to grad students. I looked at Biology the Easy Way and liked it much better.
Book Description
WASPs finally get their due in this stimulating history by one of the world's leading geneticists.
Saxons, Vikings, and Celts is the most illuminating book yet to be written about the genetic history of Britain and Ireland. Through a systematic, ten-year DNA survey of more than 10,000 volunteers, Bryan Sykes has traced the true genetic makeup of British Islanders and their descendants. This historical travelogue and genetic tour of the fabled isles, which includes accounts of the Roman invasions and Norman conquests, takes readers from the Pontnewydd cave in North Wales, where a 300,000-year-old tooth was discovered, to the resting place of "The Red Lady" of Paviland, whose anatomically modern body was dyed with ochre by her grieving relatives nearly 29,000 years ago. A perfect work for anyone interested in the genealogy of England, Scotland, or Ireland, Saxons, Vikings, and Celts features a chapter specifically addressing the genetic makeup of those people in the United States who have descended from the British Isles.
Customer Reviews:
important but disappointing.......2007-09-03
In many ways this is a very important book, as it does away with the old Anglo-Saxon myth. But it's also quite disappointing. Having read an artilcle summarizing Sykes' discoveries before I lay my hands on a copy of 'Saxons...' I was already familiar with its main conclusion - most British have very ancient origins preceding Vikings, Saxons, and Romans and perhaps to some extent this was the source of my disappointment. But mostly it comes from my too high expectations. In short, I hoped for a solid work with plenty of data, information and analyses of the genetic roots of Britain and Ireland. But the hard data filled only a few pages and the rest was a waffle, inflating the book to over 300 pages where 10 sentences would suffice.
If somebody wants to read page after page on how Sykes and his team struggled to collect the blood samples then it's a book for them. However, if you want to know the genetic background of peoples who settled in the Isles in more detail, then perhaps wait for a more informative book.
Sykes Latest Hit.......2007-08-16
Brian Sykes does it again with this most interesting book about origins of the people of the British Isles. He makes technical information understandable for the average reader.
More history than DNA.......2007-08-13
I got this book because Oppenheimer's Origin of the British is out of print and not available until 2008. This Sykes book is excellent history, but not as much about the DNA story as I expected. But it is a good read. What is surprising and intersting is that Oppenheimer and Sykes, both Oxford scholars, do not acknowdege each other existance. Does anyone know why?
The Key: Oisin = R1b, Sigurd = R1a, Eshu = E3b, ..........2007-08-09
The apparent result of Sykes' study is that the underlying genetics of the Isles is Celtic through all of the regions: England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. This may not make Sykes popular with some people. The old stereotypes do not hold up.
In this work, Sykes continues to use the names for the founders of the haplogroups that he created in "The Seven Daughters of Eve" but he does not list all of the standard equivalents. You cannot tell the players without a scorecard. However, I have found the answer on the web. For yDNA: R1b, Oisin; R1a, Sigurd; I, Wodan; E3b, Eshu; J, Re. For mDNA: J, Jasmine; T, Tara; H, Helena; K, Katrina; U, Ursala; V, Velda; X, Xenia.
The Isles were the subject of waves of invasion from Romans, Saxons, Vikings, and Normans among others. One of the results of Sykes work is that two of the best known invaders left very little genetic trace. Sykes could find virtually no evidence of Roman DNA. Where was Titus Pullo? The Normans also left very little genetic evidence. It came as no surprise to me that my own Eshu or E3b yDNA was not significant, comprising a scattered percent or two. My E3b haplogroup is found mostly in the region of the warm and sunny Mediterranean, not the wet and cold Isles.
Well writen........2007-07-18
The book was fine,Bryan, but one suggestion I have for future editions is that a modern Map of the islands be incuded. the maps you have are fine, but they dont show the current locations, for those of us with a limited knowledge of English Geography.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Already Not Yet
When Jesus announced, “the kingdom of God is at hand,” what did He mean? Uncover the reality of the kingdom of God and what it might look like if followers of Christ practiced its in-breaking presence. What happens when we view life through the lens of the kingdom? How does the beauty of Jesus’ reign break into the mess of our broken lives and world? What if we lived as though a world other than this one was here today? This Beautiful Mess launches a paradigm-shifting journey inviting us to experience the kingdom of God in the ordinary miracle of our everyday lives.
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.
When a man found it, he…
sold all he had and bought that field.”
—Matthew 13:44
Jesus’ sayings about the kingdom of God just might be the most overlooked of his teachings. Yet the Good News of the kingdom—a treasure beyond price—was what he came to preach.
It’s time to ask:
What is the kingdom Jesus talked about?
Could it be already here, hidden from sight? If so, where is it?
How can I be a part of it?
A new generation is tuning in to the teachings of Jesus and to their revolutionary implications. Could it be that living under Christ’s reign is not merely a future vision but a present reality?
Rick McKinley’s exploration is fresh, accessible, and timely. With careful attention to historical texts, he unveils new understandings of authentic personal and social transformation. The time is now. Your opportunity is here. In the mess of everyday life, you can live in the beautiful presence of the kingdom.
Story Behind the Book
”When we started Imago Dei Community, it was with a passion to be people who live in love with Jesus and live out the values of His kingdom in our city. But we had no idea how to do that. God let us stumble into grace and discover the wide-open plains of His kingdom. This has ruined us in the best way possible. Because once you taste untamed life in the kingdom, you will never go back to the sterile hallways of religion. The beautiful, transforming grace of Christ shows up in the messiness of life and the kingdom breaks in as a beautiful mess.”—Rick McKinley

Brilliant yet simple.......2007-09-18
This is so brilliant yet easy to understand. This world is simultaneously beautiful, because God created it, but a mess, because sin entered in and oh yes, because we live here and make mistakes.
I learned so much about the kingdom of God and the fact that we're living IN it, not waiting FOR it.
A really, really, really great read...see for yourself!
The new religion.......2007-08-29
This Beautiful Mess by Rick McKinley is a book about living in the present world's mess in the way Jesus described the Kingdom of God. Rick is the pastor of Imago Dei Community in Portland , Oregon and he challenges the reader to go beyond the traditional religiousity of churches and get down and dirty among all the people at hand and practice faith and gratitude every day and experience the Kingdom of God at hand in doing so, even in the worst circumstances and among undesirable people.
A glimpse of real Christianity.......2007-07-26
The main mandate of Christ was to love others as we love ourselves. This was topped only by the request to love God. McKinley's book offers a glimpse into what service and grace look like and what, I believe, Christ really offers us.
Great work!.......2007-07-25
This book is clear and concise. It does a great job of pointing to Christ in the midst of our day to day lives. It convicted me; encouraged me; entertained me and most importantly it challenged me. Great job, Rick!
A Clear, Insightful, Biblical, & Practical Look at the "Kingdom of God".......2007-06-28
Jesus proclaimed a single message in a thousand different ways, "Repent for the kingdom of God is arriving." Those mysterious words are frequently lost in our day through their assumptive, inattentive use in pop-Christian culture; but they name the heart of God for humanity. Rick's personal approach to this core message of Christ is thoughtful, gentle, deep, and well-aimed ... right at the heart. It's written in a style that appeals to both men and women and captures the imaginations of all who seek more than empty religion in their experience of God in this life. It's easily in my top five books to recommend to both Christ-followers and unbelieving seekers.

From 1864!! There's good reason this is still being read and treasured today!.......2007-05-10
'Mind is the Master-Power that molds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:-
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking glass.'
-From the book
This book was my introduction to 'Change your thoughts, change yourlife'. A friend gave me this book several years ago and it dramatically changed the way I began to think. It just made sense, it clicked with me. I was also very surprised to find out that all those years I was thinking that my thoughts were private, no one but me could know them. Then, I read this and realized that our thoughts do show in many ways: appearance, health, our circumstances, etc.
I have read many books on this subject and this is one that will ALWAYS remain in my collection. I still pull it off the shelf and read it occassionally. It's overflowing with valuable wisdom on how your thoughts create your world.
This volume has 5 books in one. It's a small but somewhat chunky book with 384 pages.
"Oh Be Wise", This helps!.......2007-04-10
Great book. His writings are inspiring. You will also note some interesting biographical info in the beginning.
Get All Three Volumes.......2007-03-16
This is the volume to start with, but I would recommend all three volumes in "The Wisdom of James Allen" series. These books are valuable to read in marathon sessions, yet they can be practically consumed in short sittings. A meal of just a few pages will give you sufficient spiritual energy for the day. I recommend reading and re-reading because the wisdom is timeless and the principles can be applied daily. This is important reading for clergy, counselors and anyone who wants to start the quest of being a guide by first learning to guide themselves.
Great Wisdom.......2007-01-10
As a Man Thinketh is a must read and has been for most of the 20th and now the 21st century. To get this companion piece with other great writings by James Allen is amazing. I would suggest it for anyone who is interested in finding the tools necessary to command their own lives.
Book review.......2007-01-04
A very enjoyable read. The simplicity of his ideas is refreshing. I do believe it really can be this simple. This small pocket size book is easy to fit into a bag/purse, or pocket and take with you wherever you go. I find spending a few minutes here and there reading it works well. Pleasant and easy to follow. Seems like a very sincere person.
Book Description
Not once, not twice, but ten times in one month the Lord appeared to Choo Thomas and took her on a breathtaking journey. Over 500,000 readers around the world (in 43 languages) have bought copies of this book! Here is a personal story of how she saw the living Christ, visited hell, and walked in heaven. " On January 19, 1996, I woke up at 3:00 in the morning. My body was shaking
I turned my head on the pillow to look in the direction of the sound, and there, all-aglow, was a figure dressed in white garments. It was the Lord
" How could this be happening to me? I wondered
as I began to tremble
and to weep tears of love and joy. " `My daughter
I am your Lord, and I want to talk to you. I am going to visit you many times before this work is done.' " The impact of His voice, His words, His message hit me with a supernatural force
" Readers will passionately share her experiences, sense the growing wonder of His presence, feel the weight of His tender words, and drink in the Spirit of God.

The best book about heaven.......2007-09-28
I have collected every Christian book on heaven. Ranging from books written from the 19th century to the 21st century, and so far Choo's is the best because:
1) It grabs me right away because Dr. Yonggi Cho, Pastor of the largest church in the world with over 1 million members, wrote the forward and translated it into Korean - demonstrating his total trust in Choo's credibility;
2) I could see Choo's deep love and devotion to our Lord, forsaking every worldly thing in order to draw closer to Christ;
3) Choo's writing immerses you with vivid pictures of heaven and hell.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a deeper knowledge of Christ and to those wanting a manual on how to get to heaven.
HEAVEN IS SO REAL! So don't miss it.
Total Blessings and Excellent.......2007-09-27
I was the most blessed when I read the "Heaven is so real" book.
It is not only a Choo Thomas' personal testimony of visiting heaven but also conveying a powerful messages from the Lord Jesus.
I found the deeper love of Jesus Christ for His church and His children through this book. At the same time His warning to His children of Laodicean church is there because He cares.
Some may disagree with this book because they believe it is unscriptural.
However I believe this is extra-biblical and will be a blessing for those who read and believe with open heart. If you do not believe, please be quiet because you may blaspheme the Holy Spirit without knowing.
If you don't understand some part you pray to the Lord to reveal His truth.
Please read the Gospel of Matthew 12:31, Mark 3:29 and Luke 12:10.
I believe the true author of this book is the Lord Jesus Himself.
When you focus your heart on the Lord Jesus while reading the Holy Spirit will bless you beyond your imagination.
Critics are always there even in Jesus time but they regret a million times now in unwanted place.
I recommend to everyone to read and share this Heaven book because Jesus is coming back very soon, sooner than most think.

Approach with skepticism!.......2007-09-24
After considerable deliberation, I have reached the conclusion that the woman who wrote this book was either deliberately trying to make a quick buck by publishing a pack of lies, OR she is so mentally unbalanced that she is unable to discern between reality and fantasy. I'm hoping she is just unbalanced, because it really makes me angry when people deliberately write lies and call it the truth. If you haven't read "Heaven is so Real" yet, then save your money. In her heaven, Jesus tools around in an electronic push button speed boat with stained glass windows (now mind you there is no mention of cars, airplanes, trains, motorcycles, or even bicycles, but, by golly, there are speed boats). If the windows in the boat are stained glass, how does one see through them to steer the boat? Also, He (Jesus) cooks rainbow colored fish on an electronic push button B-B-Q grill. If lions and other carnivorous beasts are destined to eat grass (vegetation) in Heaven, then why are people eating flesh in Heaven? Death in Heaven? And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Her book is nonsense from beginning to end. Of which, at the end of the book, she cautions against letting anyone mark you with the number 666. Gee, does anyone still believe that? Aren't we all savvy to the notion that the mark of the beast will most likely be a microchip implant? I guess not. The bottom line is that I am not going to buy anymore books written by people who claim to have had a "trip" to heaven or hell because their "experiences" can't be verified and I'm tired of being buffaloed. I'll find out what Heaven is like when I get there.
Excellent Book.......2007-09-23
This is an awesome book and lines up with almost every account of heaven I have read.
A Most Awesome and Inspiring Book from the Throne of God.......2007-09-01
I read "Heaven is So Real", and parts of it many times. This book, a real treasure, encourages those who are believers and working for the Kingdom of God and portrays the joys of heaven which await them, and it is a warning to the unbelievers and the lukewarm Christians, to repent of their sins, and begin an intimate relationship with Jesus, before it is eternally too late. We go through this life only once, and once you cross over into eternity, it is not possible to go back to repent of wrong habits, deeds, and attitudes in your life, so it behooves all of us to wake out of sleep, make things right with God, and prepare for the coming of Jesus, which is now upon us, and could happen at any moment.
Book Description
The New York Times bestseller by Osama bin Laden's sister-in-law that provides a penetrating look inside the Bin Laden family, Saudi society, and the treatment of Saudi women is now in paperback with a new chapter. In 1974, Carmen, half-Swiss and half-Persian, married into the Bin Laden family. She was young and in love, an independent European woman hurled into a society she neither knew nor understood. Her story takes us inside the Bin Laden family and a power structure in which men regularly subjugate their wives. It also tells of the author's own personal battle to keep custody of her three daughters after her 1988 separation from her husband. INSIDETHEKINGDOM dares to pull off the veil that conceals one of the most secretive countries in the world, revealing the intrigues and conflicts within its most infamous family.

True to some extent.......2007-10-03
I just want to make clear that in Islam, women should be treated with respect. not to be held in their houses. If they need to go out somewhere, no one should stop them. It is when people start to bring their own culture and mix it with religion, that's where they go wrong. This women obviously was treated bad. But she shouldn't blame the Religion rather she should blame the culture of Saudis. I know Saudis say that 'its Islam we are practicing' but that's not Islam at all. Islam is very easy to follow its just the people who make it difficult upon themselves.
Fast, interesting, informative read.......2007-09-25
I'm certain there are a lot of books detailing the life of women in Saudi Arabia and doubtful this one is significantly different. That said, the book was very informative for someone who has had no exposure to how these women live or how the Saudi society operates, save for the media. It is a very fast read with simple sentence structure. None the less, it held my interest, so I do recommend it. My only criticism is the author did seem to have an agenda to point to Osama Bin Ladin as a terrorist, as well as the likelihood of the Saudi involvement in general, tying the Bin Ladin family and Saudi royalty together. Given this attention was given only in the initial and ending chapters, I was OK with it, though it did come across as a marketing ploy.
Good wakeup call - a MUST READ.......2007-09-24
This book was recommended by a friend. I got it on a Sat evening and finished it by Sunday evening - could not put it down. It is very well written and despite the fact that Carmen was married to Osama Bin Laden's brother (Yeslam) there are only a few mentions of Osama - most relating to how the family revered him for his fastidious religious practices. The rest focuses on Carmen's growing dismay and final realization that, despite all the wealth that is found in Saudi Arabia it can not buy was is needed most - the modernization of the culture and end to the oppression of both women and children (especially the female children).
It is a scary book when you realize it was written in 2004 and reflects a time even 10 yrs earlier - especially when you see what's happened since then in the Middle East.
This is a must read for anyone who wants to get an insider's view of the social/cultural climate of Saudi Arabia and at least a small understanding of why they view the Western world as they do.
Kudos to Carmen Bin Ladin for her courage, dedication and love for her daughters in coming forward to putting her experiences down for all of us to read.
From a member of the Saudi society.......2007-08-31
It was really hard to rate this book. Being a member of the society the author dedicated most of the book to criticize left me wondering what exactly she wants. We meet binladins everyday, we social with them, the binladin is a very large family and they are at the end only people. I can understand how the name "Binladin"is so appealing coz people associate it immediately to Osama binladin and I believe that's what the author aimed to do when writing this book. The author lived in Saudi Arabia so many years ago and things have changed a lot ever since. 50 years ago, women were completely illiterate with exception to basic reading and writing skills. Now, most of College's students are female. Yes, we do it our own way, we have separate colleges and universities but at the end we are well educated. The author way was so gossipy and she has no right to mention names but she did, which in my point of view makes the book just another form of "page six".
I really don't know why people are so very worried about us and about our future as Saudi women. I am a college educated woman with a professional career and a loving husband. I chose everything in my life. My study, my husband, my career, reading this book....etc. I picked this book out of curiosity just to know what Carmen wants to say.
I welcome all comments and discussions and here is my email address: hakadi@gmail.com.
Amazing story.......2007-07-17
Some people complain that they found a boring biography instread of depiction of secrets of Saudi kingdom. I had opposite experience : I suspected it to be meaningless book written by a shadowwriter just to make some bucks using the hype of writers last name. Actually I found the book quite interesting. The extent of misogynism described in the book is shocking beyond belief : no surprise that some societies do not treat men and women equal, but it is much harder imagine a society where some poorest kind of handyman or driver can ignore commands of (the only) wife of the billionaire they are working for, saying 'I do not take commands from women'... I do not thinks there have been many cultures in history of mankinf where lowest class males feel free to offend billionaire females because of their gender.
Some paradoxes in the books : his 'evil' husband Yeslam actually looks one of the most sane and pleasant characters in the book. While the book really decribes the life of 'opressed Saudi women', I must say most of Saudi women in the book look deeply insincere and hateful gossiping imbeciles who are in part reponsible for their own misery.

Fantastic Read!.......2007-08-10
This book is great, especially for those who don't have a lot of free time. The chapters are short and juicy! I really learned a lot about history. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
My history teachers should have read it.......2007-08-10
When I learmed history in my school days, the classes of history were very boring.
If my history teachers had read this book, they should have made their classes fun and interesting.
Especially, students are interested in the lives of kings or queens as well as normal people.
Good, Quick Read... but it's not for history scholars.......2007-07-04
To sum up this book quickly: it's good potty reading. In the forward Farquhar explains that he avoids the entire 20th century (with the exception of a few stories about Wallis Simpson). He basically points out that the "scandals" of the 20th century are nothing compared to let's say ordering a small cache of boys to swim naked with you, so they can nip at the treat between your legs. Marrying a divorcee just seems milquetoast in comparison.
Anyhow, it was an enjoyable read. Sad at times, sometimes even disturbing, but for the most part is written with a witty dark humor that will make you laugh at even the most sickeningly, depraved noble. While Farquhar sticks to European royalty for the book, he does include an entire section on Roman Caesars, and early Popes, all of which easily out-deprave the nobles the rest of the book is about.
Each story is short, a sort of Cliff's Notes. This is especially true if you are familiar with some of the stories. For the stories I already knew, his facts were accurate, if a bit summary. This is good, because each tale is bite-sized, making the book good for niblet reading here and there.
The tales Farquhar chooses to tell are sometimes hits, and sometimes misses. I particularly did not see how the detailed accounting of the murder of the Romanov's really fit with some of the other stories, for example.
If you like a good scandal, need some quick reads for here and there, or have a fascination with the excesses that unbridled power brings, this is a book worth checking out.
Funny, sad, shocking.......2007-06-11
I really enjoyed A Treasury of Royal Scandals! It was a fun, fast-paced read. Organized wonderfully and told in sections and chapters, Treasury tells the shocking tales of royalty throughout the ages. From Marie Antoinette's terrible demise, Mary of Scot's botched beheading, Nero's incest, to the tales of popes whose crimes were greater than those of the worst Roman emperors- it's all here! Told in a sometimes sarcastic, very readable way, you will be hooked.
Heather's "Courtesans" Review.......2007-01-19
This is a great book. I read it last year, but I remember how much I enjoyed it. You will learn so much about their lives and about the times they lived in. You will also learn about a woman named Grace Dalrymple Elliot. She was a courtesan who kept a journal. You can look that up yourself. This kind of book opens up the imagination and leads you on and on to the next interesting book. But be warned. As the author states, some biographies were written by people in their inter circles who didn't like them. READ THIS BOOK!
