Op Amps for Everyone
ASIN: 007024247X |
Book Description
Light photons impinging upon a semiconductor material in the vicinity of a P-N junction release conduction carriers to produce current flow through the photodiode effect. Photodiode amplifiers convert this current to a voltage in a relationship that remains linear as long as the amplifier eliminates signal voltage swing from the photodiode. For this purpose, the simple current-to-voltage converter or transimpedance amplifier presents a virtual ground to the diode. However, when connected to a photodiode, this simple op amp circuit displays surprising multidimensional constraints that defy conventional op amp intuition.
Customer Reviews:
Weak and Outdated.......2004-06-14
Basic stuff. This book collects dust on my lab shelf. Transimpedance amplifiers - you can find this stuff on the web for free. Absolutely no talk of charge integration.
Good book for measurement applications of Photodiodes.......2001-05-01
This book is an excellent reference for understanding the Photodiode circuits. It is gives good coverage of the limitations of the transimpedance amplfier, gives good comparision of different schemes for I to V convertors and covers noise in photodiode circuits extensively. It is a good text for low frequency application . Not meant for real high speed design reference.
good book for measurement circuits not for receiver design.......2000-12-07
Excellent book for design of optical measurement etc type of application and undrestand noise and errors in the circuit.
Thorough review of photodiodes driving op-amps.......1998-11-30
This book lives up to its title by giving a thorough review of photodiodes driving op-amps. It does not consider specialized, discrete photodiode amplifiers. By limiting the coverage to op-amps, the bandwidths are necessarily those of op-amps, a few tens of megahertz at the time most of the book was written, perhaps 100 MHz or so today. Truly wide bandwidth solutions (GHz) are left to the imagination of the reader.

Customer Reviews:
A very good source of infos.......2005-09-27
The book covers more or less everything you need to know about PV systems. All the elements are well described. References about national rules are also covered.
Only a few things could be improved, specially for people interested in practical applications:
- Theory about future solar cells are interesting, but not practical
- www references are often out of date
- Some full design examples would be helpful to understand the "tricks" of this technology

Book Description
Recently developed organic photovoltaics (OPVs) show distinct advantages over their inorganic counterparts due to their lighter weight, flexible shape, versatile materials synthesis and device fabrication schemes, and low cost in large-scale industrial production. Although many books currently exist on general concepts of PV and inorganic PV materials and devices, few are available that offer a comprehensive overview of recently fast developing organic and polymeric PV materials and devices. Organic Photovoltaics: Mechanisms, Materials, and Devices fills this gap. The book provides an international perspective on the latest research in this rapidly expanding field with contributions from top experts around the world. It presents a unified approach comprising three sections: General Overviews; Mechanisms and Modeling; and Materials and Devices. Discussions include sunlight capture, exciton diffusion and dissociation, interface properties, charge recombination and migration, and a variety of currently developing OPV materials/devices. The book also includes two forewords: one by Nobel Laureate Dr. Alan J. Heeger, and the other by Drs. Aloysius Hepp and Sheila Bailey of NASA Glenn Research Center. Organic Photovoltaics equips students, researchers, and engineers with knowledge of the mechanisms, materials, devices, and applications of OPVs necessary to develop cheaper, lighter, and cleaner renewable energy throughout the coming decades.
Customer Reviews:
OPV.......2007-08-16
Because of each chapter is written by different author. It's not well-organized. However, it provides a comprehensive concept about organic solar materials, and current progress.
Comprehensive and well-organized.......2007-02-26
This book brought together contributions from a large number of experts in the field of organic photovoltaics. Usually, for a book of this type, contributions tend to be too specialized and disjointed with each other. However, this book manages to provide a wide and comprehensive coverage of the field in a well organized and cohesive manner that is easy to understand.
There are 3 sections in this book. Section 1 covers the history and development of solar cells, as well as a general overview of organic photovoltaics. Sections 2 describes the mechanism and modeling of organic solar cells, while section 3 provides a wide sampling of the different materials and device architectures available. It is invaluable for new reseachers in organic electronics, and useful for anyone who wants to find out more about the field.
good overview of the field.......2007-01-03
This compilation of topics thoroughly covers many of the current research directions in the field. Both a very good reference and a primer for the field.

Synthesis at many levels.......2006-12-17
De Micheli's book is the most complete reference I know for the aspiring tool-builder,or for the tool-user who wants to know more of what's inside the design and synthesis tools at her desk.
The first hundred pages or so lay out mathematical basics. Graph theory pervades later discussion, so it gets a thorough review in this early section. There's also a little about boolean logic - not the kids' stuff, but a variety of representations, plenty to get the reader's mind set into mathematical orientation of the rest of the book.
Part II, chapters 4-6 are, for me, the real meat of the presentation. They deal with the higher, architectural levels of synthesis, with a strong discussion of scheduling of shared resources. This book predates modern system-on-chip design, so it doesn't get to the level of on-chip busses and networks. The datapath and resource management issues are just as important today as when this book was written, though. And, even if it omits references from the ten-plus years since its writing, it gives today's reader a solid preparation for creating tools on the cutting edge of system synthesis.
The remaining chapters, although thorough and competent, are not in the center of my interests. They deal at length with decomposition of logic and control into gate-level constructs. De Micheli's discussion goes far beyond freshman logic design since, as he points out, "Most classical methods are not practical for circuits of usual size." Chapter 10 goes beyond classic and/or decomposition, and well into the quirks and limitations of real cell libraries. FPGAs are mentioned only briefly - understandable, since they had not acquired the importance given them by the decade-plus of technology shifts since the book was written. A modern successor to this book would probably have a lot more to say about FPGA-based implementation, and would probably address placement and routing issues that De Micheli had no need to address.
Despite its 1994 copyright date, this book is still current and relevant. It gives its reader a broad and rigorous start on industrial-strength synthesis. I recommend this highly to anyone seriously involved in creating tools for logic and system design.

Well-written, informative book.......2000-08-22
Initially I was surprised to find no reviews for this book, considering the fact that it is widely used as a text in the schools. This book was a recommended text for my graduate course in "Electronic Design Automation". I have read the text, as well as, solved few problems in the exercises. Based on these qualifications, I think this book is very good. It starts with the basics and goes onto explain the advanced algorithms used in design automation. It gives a comprehensive coverage of the subject. For avid problem solvers, the exercises present a challenging oppurtunity. I highly recommend this book for any student of digital circuit design. But, advanced readers may find some topics (especially, formal methods) missing in this book.

Book Description
The unexpected results from an investigation into hereditary congenital anorectal malformations of pig embryos have demonstrated the weakness of earlier interpretations and constructions and underlined the need for a new inquiry into the normal development of the area in human embryos. It demonstrated that although data from malformations may offer extra information about the normal development of the area, great care has to be taken in using that information for the reconstruction of its normal development which should be firmly based on the observation of the evolving microscopic anatomy of the region in the first place.
Product Description
This is a AIR FORCE INST OF TECH WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB OH SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A109224. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: This research investigated the uncertainties in measuring the IR signature of a General Electric F110-GE-129 turbofan engine inside an altitude test cell. The requirements for the measurement system include the intensity and radiance of the engine surfaces in three bands of operation, two Medium Wave IR (MWIR) bands and one Long Wave IR (LWIR) band. The altitude test cell provides a venue for measuring the IR signature in simulated altitude operation, but the imaging process is laden with measurement uncertainty due to stray radiation from the facility structure, hot exhaust gases, and the measurement equipment itself. The atmosphere and a protective ZnSe window that shields the camera from the hot engine exhaust also introduce measurement uncertainty due to attenuation. Consequently, post-processing of the signature data is necessary to recover the engine signal, but they inject an additional level of measurement uncertainty into the imaging process. To assess the measurement uncertainty, a radiometric model of the altitude test cell is formulated. Specific measurement conditions at which the stray radiation is 5% or less of the total radiation are then derived, thereby decreasing the necessity for post-processing correction factors. These conditions are derived for the 3-4, 4.5-5, 8-9, and 8-12 micron bands using a parametric analysis. The fidelity of the model is increased by the inclusion of experimental data from the ZnSe window.

Book Description
This first volume in Modern Methods of Plant Analysis, New Series deals with cell components and organelles. In contrast to many other publications on cell fractionation, it begins with chapters on the cell wall, the structure that sets most plant cells apart from animal and bacterial cells and that made studies of plant cell components extremely difficult until the advent of protoplast formation by enzymatic breakdown of the cell wall. Perhaps the most significant breakthrough in plant cell fractionation, protoplast formation is dealt with in the third chapter, following a chapter on the use of "markers" in cell fractionation. All the major cell components and organelles are covered in turn, and the suitability of each method for analytical or preparative use is indicated. This volume provides an extremely useful foundation for later volumes in the series.
