Excellent Yoga Nidra experiences. Swami J has an especially gentle and soothing voice, ideal for deep relaxation. Different from other Yoga NIdra CD's, this one has a musical background which is a really nice touch that helps take you into an even deeper experience of Yoga Nidra. There is also a track of music for an experience of Nada Yoga, or the yoga of sound.

Scandinavian Yogi???.......2007-09-26

I ordered this CD based on all the glowing reviews it received. Maybe I missed the part about this guy being Scandinavian. (I'm sorry, I already listed and sold the CD, so I can't tell you from which country Swami Saraswati originates). I found his accent so off-putting that I could not really get into the relaxation. I also found the cows "mooing" in the background a kind of bizarre reference when trying to induce a state of deep relaxation. Actually, I don't think I realized what Yoga Nidra was. Even when reading the enclosed booklet, I was more taken with the implied promise of positive creation than in obtaining near sleep.

If one is not bothered by Scandinavian accents and pastoral backgound noises, I'm sure this would work for relaxation. However it is NOT meditation, at least not in any sense of which I'm aware.

fantastic practice.......2007-09-20

I have had this tape for about 7 years and used it on and off. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. You are supposed to stay awake, but I always drift in and out of consciousness, which is fine with me because I always feel fantastic later.
If you want to learn more or "go deeper" as the yoga people say, get Yoga Nidra by the Bihar School. It is very comprehensive and balanced-not a my way or the highway attitude.

More a kind of fantasy journey than yoga nidra.......2007-08-27

Yoga nidra means yogic sleep, a state of mind where you are in a deep sleep state and at the same time awake and aware that you are sleeping. With all due respects to Janakananda I don't think he accomplies this on his CD.

According to Swami Rama, and I consider him a far more experienced and advanced yogi, the real yoga nidra requires concentration on the heart center after some 'warm-up' excercises', because the heart center is the center of deep (dreamless) sleep. And it requires quietness around you. Something that's not on this socalled yoga nidra where the voice speaks all the time, and when the concentrationpoint is on a postulated "golden egg" in the middle of the brain.

I have done this excercise many times over the years, and I have to say I've come to find it a rather confusing mixture of genuine yoga nidra related practises like mentally contacting various parts of the body, and working with the seed mantras traditionally associalted with the chakras in yoga and tantra on the one hand. And on the other hand some fantasy journeys, walking in a wood, contacting different animals etc. that has absolutely nothing to do you with yoga, and come from a totally different tradition.

In true yoga nidra you give yourself up and let things happen spontaneously, while Janakananda forces and manipulates you in to feeling this golden egg, something that has nothing to do with genuine meditation, that is always a state beyond the verbal mind.

The best about this CD is Roop Vermas beautiful music.

It's certainly moving to read the many happy accounts of people thoroughly enjoying this CD, but if you really want to dig deep into this fascinating field, Janakananda is not the right place for you.

so I can really highlight this CD. I am very happy with my purchase. Being the obsessive researcher/googler, I read and studied for about a week before deciding to get this particular CD. I went to sites selling self-hypnosis and self-help, listened to samples, British gurus, yogis... in the end my dilemma was, do I seek higher enlightment (or at least a good relaxation) or do I try to awaken that awesome potential inside me, and make millions, and reach my full potential, and... I actually asked my husband which path would he take, and, oddly enough, he balked at the millions. What I mean to say is, peace and relaxation are more valuable, and that is exactly what you get with this tape. It is not boring in the least, there is no music, but there is a very good sound background, and I look forward to doing it every day. My 10-year old does it with me, and is soothes her too. (she is a patient child, don't know how would other kids do.) The speaker has a Danish accent, and at first I thought oh, great, I am going to start laughing in the middle of my relaxation, but you get used to it, and it becomes part of the experience. For those with higher aspirations and a yoga/philosophical bent, the CD leaflet instructs you to envision something you would like to occur in the future, and use that in the guided imagery. Well, I am doing it, and, kinda spooky, it might be working. I will have to post later if that really works, but I don't know if I would really go on record promoting reality-altering programs. Well, it's a great CD, and my heart problems have subsided, most likely because of the reduction in stress. Can't recommend it highly enough.

what happen they were a bunch of bull i got nothing out of this disc i followed all the rules and listen several time to make sure i was doing everything right. I hope that when you right a review i am happy that some got something out of it my copy is a in a dumpster some where. A BIG WASTE OF MY TIME.

Relaxation and Spirit Guide/Angels Contact.......2006-07-27

For those of you who wish to make contact with their spirit guides, angels, or loved ones this is the CD for you. I've been able to make contact with my spirit guides for messsages to assist me with my personal life. This CD will assist you in improving your visualization.

This is a professionally done CD with clear steps to produce the results that you may be looking for. The relaxation program, program 2, is just that. I use that to relax during the day and found that I am feeling energetic and rested after the session. Janet's voice is soothing.

Usage is safe. There is nothing to be afraid of. Please try this CD and become more balanced and centered and perhaps prevent illness.

Trance inducing.......2004-03-10

I've found this CD to be a wonderful way to induce a trance. I've noticed that I do feel different since using it, lighter and less tense somehow.

Yet, I keep falling asleep during it, so I haven't yet (consciously) been able to follow the instructions to make spirit contact.

I do have confidence though that it will prove as useful as her Sleep Deeply CD has been to me, once I manage my attention better.

I Really Enjoyed This One!.......2003-08-06

I have used some of Janet Decker's other Hypnosis CDs for more utilitarian purposes and they worked so well that I decided to branch out into some areas of personal interest. Like most people, I have lost friends and family over the course of my lifetime that I miss terribly. This CD has helped me to open myself up to a world of possibilities that I didn't even know existed. I would recommend this CD to anyone who's lost someone they love.

This CD was fantastic and I couldn't recommend a better one than this one. Janet is very effective and very good. Although I have chanted mantras on and off for a number of years - this book has totally inspired me to do it every day... the CD is very and Thomas Ashley Farrand extremely knowledgable about Vedic texts and scriptures.

I loved this book. I knew nothing about mantra meditating. Now I have fifteen mantras to use, I know how to pronounce the sounds in each correctly, and I know when it's best to use each. This is a great book for beginners.

I began with the mantra for clearing karma related to wealth for 40 days, then I chanted the mantra to attract wealth for 40 days. It was easy with the CD- I was able to do the daily chant while driving to work- and in the middle of the second series of chanting, I was promoted at work, and received a 32% pay increase. This book and CD are more than worth the money and time spent!

An amazing audiobook! Although is a little bit long(so make sure you have enough time for this meditation, and that none is around!) the results are magnificent. I couldn't stop crying and in the end I felt empty of burdens!The angel's part is comforting, and slowly bring you to reality.The great thing is that it is safe, and Dr. Virtue's voice is so soft that you will esaily relax. She gives us enough time to relaxand prepare for the journey, by using colours together with angelic assistance. When you finally go back in time, the images are so clear, that you re-live the moments. The emotions released are so strong, as you keep forgiving all people who mistreated you at that point, and of course you forgive yourself. Recommended definitely!!

Past Life Regression with the Angels.......2007-05-24

Part 1 (19:09 minutes) (Explanation)
Doreen provides introductory comments, explaining her initial experiences with Past Life Regression (PLR) and how she was initially a skeptic of reincarnation, until she had her own PLR experience. This PLR experience was conducted by a hypnotherapist friend who helped her to "see" past experiences. In turn, she was able to understand fears and concerns in her current life, and she overcame fears stemming from past lives and learned her current life's mission.

Doreen notes that reincarnation was and is embraced by several religions and WAS embraced by Christian churches until 533 AD. She also mentions studies on thousands of young children which indicate remembrances of past lives. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, many people who have experienced PLR have healed from the experience, some from just one session. As Doreen said, does it really matter if they believe, as long as they healed from the experience? (But there sure seems to be an awful lot of "coincidences" out there if there were no past lives. I believe. Didn't use to believe, but have seen too much to NOT believe.)

Doreen suggests you RELEASE UNFORGIVENESS. (EVERYTHING I am reading emphasizes the need to forgive and release. There are several reasons, but the biggest is that you cannot sustain a higher vibration unless you get rid of negative feelings. That higher vibration makes it easier to do spiritual/metaphysical "things".) Doreen also suggests that when you do this CD, you ask for help with forgiveness from the angels and that you do NOT focus on past lives or their identity. (Realistically, that's why these past lives are dormant in your subconscious. You need to concentrate on THIS life and its challenges.) She suggests you use this CD to identify (understand) your past life happenings and use them as a healing tool, to release (emotional & energy) blocks from prior lives.

In this CD, you use the meditation to access the Akashic Records to access prior life information. (Many of you probably know what the Akashic Records are, but in case you don't, they are the storage facility for everyone's' entire past life information--like a mega library in the sky, so to speak. Some people access this information through meditation. Edgar Cayce was a famous psychic who often accessed the Akashic Records to get information for people, so they could understand why (e.g. they had a phobia about going in the water--or whatever their problems were. The problems often manifested into illness or disease. Once they understood, they could release these feelings that were making them ill.) Prior to meditation, you set (think) your intention (what you want to get out of the session) and mentally ask questions that you seek answers to. Then you go into a guided meditation. Doreen says you will only consciously remember what you are prepared to handle, so you may have to do this meditation several times, to prepare yourself to be able to handle you PLR information.

Part 2 (45:06 minutes) (Meditation)
You think about what issues you want to heal or release and mentally ask the angels (3 times) for help remembering your other lifetimes. She then takes you into a meditative state through about 13 minutes of focused relaxation techniques. You begin to open your mind to look into the Akashic Records. Your mind becomes a time tunnel of colors and you travel back in time, through each color, with your angel holding your hand. The colors parody the chakras red, to orange, yellow, green, light blue, cobalt/royal blue, to deep purple. I assume Doreen takes you through the chakras to better connect you to Source (God), through the Kundalini (kind of -- up the spine) energy.

My experiences:
Without telling you all my secrets, I will tell you that I have previously received other guidance about my one past life, which was different that many other people's alleged experiences. I seem to have only had one past life. What I got in meditation with this CD seemed to verify and enhance my understanding of that prior guidance. This enhancement was unexpected information and it fills in a gap. I also "received" an explanation of a concern I still have. You also need to know that as a Reiki Master (Eastern Energy and Spiritual Discipline), I have previously worked through almost all of my "issues," or else I would probably have more stuff surface during the meditation.

I believe this CD can be very helpful to those who want to progress forward. You just have to be willing to: 1) take the time, 2) identify the issues "haunting" you, 3) FACE THOSE ISSUES, and then 4) work to correct them. Need ALL 4 of those steps or don't bother.

If you don't believe in reincarnation, is this CD still worth your time???

Emotional and physical healing? - PRICELESS!!!

I did not like the woman's voice or theory with Angels. I think this could have been better written and the CD's with someone elses voice. She didn't make me relax during the meditation tape because all I could think about was her annoying voice.

I just purchased this and listened to it last night for the first time. What a journey I had.

I've been to a hypnotherapist before. It never really worked too well for me because it's hard for me to "turn my mind off". With this CD, however, I was able to get into a deep hypnotic state in a very gradual and relaxing manner.

When I began the journey, I really didn't know what to expect. What transpired was amazing. I was able to uncover issues I didn't even know I had. It showed me very clearly why I am the person I am today and why I feel the way I do about certain things and relationships in my life. This morning I woke up very much at ease and with a sense of acceptance that I have never felt before. I feel much more connected today to humanity.

My journey first took me to a Tibetan monastery in the late 1800's. I began to cry because my parents (at the time) took me to live with the monks as a young boy. Next, I was off to Saxony in the 1500's where I was an abusive drunken grain miller and was killed by my own son (at the time). The clarity and the detail was amazing. I knew my name, the year, and could see the surroundings and those of whom I had relationships with.

Thank you Dr Virtue. Plane travel will never be the same.

An amazing journey.......2006-08-30

I had tossed the idea of getting this cd around in my head for about two months. I finally received it just the other day and now I am very upset. I should have bought this cd months ago! I love meditation cd's and this one is my most favorite.

Just the beginning itself can be used for a wonderful relaxation. She very slowly and peacefully takes you into a relaxation that I have never felt before. My entire body started tingling. She takes her time going through each body part.... none of the "quick, hurry up and relax" stuff like some authors make you do. This cd is great for the person always on the go and needs help relaxing at night.

I'm not going to spoil the past life regression part, all I can say is "WOW!". This cd will be worn out soon because I can see myself using every single night. Well done Doreen!

Although I am a huge fan of Dr. Virtue's work, I was dissapointed by this audiobook, particularly because during the meditation process I couldn't follow her.She talks very very quickly, and I missed the soft, soothing tone in her voice. I own 7 audiobooks of hers, and this is the only one that didn't pleased me.English isn't my mother language, still this didn't affect my meditation process with other audiobooks.With this one, as soon as I was affirming a sentence, she had already jumped to another, and another, and another, with a fast pace, and in the end, I was feeling that the whole process never completed fully. To her credit, when ,in some cases, managed to follow her, the process of releasing worked! I was actually trembling in some issues, such as violent death!! If only she was speaking with a more warm tone and a slower pace...

I wasn't impressed with this cd. She does talk way to fast, I have to agree with the other reviewer. If she could of slowed it down I would have loved it.

This cd would be good to listen to when you don't want to meditate, maybe in the car, house cleaning, or working out. It makes you think real positive and gives you a boost of confidence.

I do recommend Angel Medicine or Past Life Regression for meditating. I love her work.... this one just wasn't for me.

Too fast to meditate on Karma Releasing.......2006-07-05

I would say that even though the information in the CD is ok, you can't enjoy it because she talks sooooooooooooo fast, it doesn't invite to stop and think but rather just to be as concentrated as possible to be able to understand/listen to all that she says. If you get distracted one second analysing something she said, she is already in another idea and you have no clue of the relation.
Did not like it, it should be slower to let you have a moment to meditate what she is saying, not talking as if it was a race to see how fast she can tell everything to you.

The first time I used this tape, I cried most of the way through it. I could feel myself releasing so much unnecessary energy. It was really deep. Make sure that you do the tape/CD when you are alone if you can.

In the meditation, Doreen goes through a list of various traumas that we may have experienced in past lives and guides you to open yourself to letting the angels remove any attachments to these experiences. If you were to look at the meditation typed out, it seems really simple, but I have to say that what I experienced totally surprised me. I've never had that powerful a response to a taped meditation before or since then.

I don't remember if this tape has you ground at the end. I would definately recommend taking time to yourself and doing something to focus your energy back on the present. Exercise, do a grounding meditation, take a bath, or eat something so that your body can wind down from the experience. Whatever works for you.
