One of the best books on Crystal Healing out there. Period........2007-10-07

A simple and elegantly written book. The author often writes from the crystal's perspective! I shall read it several times more for sure. This is my favorite book on the subject. Mr. Bourgault knows the healing arts. Forget the scientific mumbo-jumbo and color photos for a moment from other books. Mr. Bourgault understands crystal healing from a Mother Earth point of view and speaks to the reader spiritually. For example, to paraphrase one bit of his advice: one must heal the crystal which is oneself before you can ever expect to treat someone else. Spirituality is so very important yet largely ignored by other crystal books. Read Luc Bourgault's words and they will resonate in your heart. You just know what he is saying is right. He has done us all a favor by leaving his foot prints for us to follow.

I love this book! It is a easy read and the information just flows out of the writer. I enjoy the ease and the way that the topic is easy to understand. Wonderful!!

A diverse view on a very broad topic.......2006-07-27

This book is very down-to-earth and approachable by those who are newcomers, although the author is touting a sense of authority and authenticity over all else, although some very good information is presented here.

Much of the geological/mineralogical information accompanying the descriptions of the crystals contained herein is less than accurate, and this does produce bias on my behalf. The author has studied under notable elders, and the healing information presented is practical and efficient, but thos book offers little as far as in-depth or advanced studies go.

Much of the information is over simplistic and can be monotonous, and Bourgault is very wary of all things "New Age" and, hence, bashes the credibility of the entire lot of them, despite the fact that the majority are not so untrustworthy (even if redundant). Some key exercises in this book are excellent for any crystal healer, and anyone interested in Native American spirituality may find this book to lend a window into cultural and spiritual aspects of working with crystals.

A different perspective on gemstone healing.......2006-07-14

I'm still not sure what I think of this book.

Some of the information found within this book seems pretty far off from other information that I have read (from numerous sources) about healing and working with gemstones.

The author suggests that using more than one stone on a chakra can be dangerous. Likewise sitting within a stone grid. Some of the listed methods for cleaning your stones are different than I have heard before.

My take on the subject is this: Don't do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, and do what makes you happy. I've never been one for strict ritual and I feel that I have great success working with stones in whatever way suits me. Sometimes I use running tap water to clean my stones, sometimes breath, incense or sage, sometimes salt. The stones tell me what they need. Perhaps certain rituals are developed for people to help develop their intuitive powers or to feel more connected.

There was a section in the book that discussed the use of red cloth as a protective barrier for your stones. To quote: "if you are carrying some crystals that are, from an energy point of view, fragile (for some ceremonial or personal use), you must protect them from the energy from other people. It is therefor important to keep your crystals wrapped in red fabric and protected from outside forces." I found this quite interesting, and had a woman make me several red flannel cloth bags. I felt an immediate difference once I switched over to the red cloth bag for carrying my "every day" stones in my purse.

There's good information in this book - I suggest reading it, digesting what you need & recycling what doesn't.

Incredible Resource.......2006-04-02

In this book you not only find out how to cleanse, program and use crystals, the author has an excellent point of view. Even if you don't use the gemstones for healing his philosophy is something we can all live by. A most "enlightening" read.

Simple and Easy way to learn about Crystals!.......2002-09-08

This Book, like many others have said, is a Very Very easy book to follow. Very nicely set up, including very nice pictures, and very good information. There is not one paragraph that isn't too hard to understand. It gives information on many different types of crystals, as well as many different excersises you can practice with your crystals. It also tells you what the different crystals are used for and how you can use them for healing in your everyday life. I would deffinetly recomend this book for anyone who is interested in crystals, crystal heling, wants to learn about crystals but has trouble understanding some information, or anyone who wants to expand their horizons! It is a great book for just about all ages. I hope everyone enjoys it as much a I do. Personally I bought it after I borrowed it from the library after the 3rd millionth time

Excellent - simple and straight forward - colour photos illustrating a good cross-section of 100 or more crystals and their properties, how to use them and heal, balance and restore balance and health. Highly recommended not just for the beginner but great as a quick reference guide.

Great Resource on Aura Soma products.......2005-02-14

I gave this book 5 stars for the information pertaining to Aura Soma products - the information is detailed not only about each individual product, but also regarding differences between different types of products as well as how to use them. In that respect, it will prove as an invaluable guide if you are using Aura Soma products.

As for the esoteric information presented in this book - at times it is botched up and it seems that the authors themselves were confused. At the beginning of the book they quote Pelham stating that his work (creating flower essences) is not like alchemy because he considers "alchemy as something egocentric, for the alchemist sees him or herself as one who creates something". All that I can say is that the individual is truly ignorant of alchemy and genuine alchemists because the goal of alchemy is just the same as of any spiritual tradition - Self-realization, realization of Oneness with All, realization that all is spiritual and it is impossible to engage in true alchemy without bringing Spirit into equasion. Alchemy is about transmutation of one's "lower nature", or one's "mortal self" (mortal consciousness) into spiritual,

Aura-Soma system is, according to this book, conceived upon the Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah), and Vicky Wall, being of Hassidic background has some initial challenge naming one of the products "Christ". The authors took care to point out that this product is not named after the "historical" Christ, but after Christ consciousness. I may add that for some people this distinction doesn't really exist - after all, Christ (historical) did get the "title" Christ, as he attained "Christ consciousness" (a realization of Oneness with All).

There are many products which are named after an assortment of ascended masters (by the way, among others, there is also St. Germain, who is very well known as an "alchemist"). Instead of perhaps simply saying that the products are intended to stimulate the vibrations in the user that are represented by these "masters", the authors have brought in Theosophy as a "convincer" of the existence of the masters. While there is a rather lengthy discourse on Theosophy, there is hardly anything in those quotations said about the "masters" and I think that the best way for any individual to learn more about "masters' specific vibrations" is through personal experience.

Perhaps, they should've just left the products speak for themselves, because they truly are wonderful and they will work for you even if you simply follow your intuition and your inner guidance in picking the right ones. My original choice of products, before reading this book, did not change - if anything it became reinforced and I may add that I had many wonderful experiences with thes products from the very first day I began using them. The colors are feast for the eyes, and the herbal essences and scents make you feel as if your mind and heart, soul and body are nourished and uplifted. I've also had some very interesting dreams, so all I can say about the products I have been tremendously enjoying them and find that they have enriched my life.

Six years before writing this book, Crystal Phillips weighed almost 300 pounds. "My legs were so fat that my inner thighs were raw and bleeding by the end of the day," writes a now trim Phillips. "I spent money on food like an alcoholic does on liquor or a drug addict on a fix." Phillips saw herself as "a fat, hulking body pretending to be a person with hopes and dreams and of a tomorrow." The Me I Knew I Could Be is more than one African American woman's story of weight loss. We read vivid stories of Phillips's early life. As a child, she was sent to stay with a grandfather who spied on her in the bath, and her fear led her into compulsive eating. She matured early, and by age 12, was purposely eating to get fat to protect herself from leering men and the ostracism of her classmates. She married a man who was an emotional mess and ran around on her (who even accompanied a girlfriend to abort his child the day after marrying Crystal)--but he accepted her at 200-plus pounds and rising.

As her marriage went from awful to worse and her adored brother became sick with AIDS, she turned to her lover: food. A shopping expedition for a satisfying nightly binge might include "four porterhouse steaks, a large bag of potato chips, four pints of Häagen-Dazs ice cream, and the makings for a peach cobbler."

Much of the book is an anecdotal record of how Phillips took charge of her emotional life and lost weight, with excerpts from her journal. She leads weight-loss workshops now, and the book gives sensible advice for dropping pounds, from one sister to another, including not dieting (making conscious, healthful, reasonable choices instead), keeping a journal, exercising, and controlling binges. She includes a few recipes, including the intriguingly titled Sistah Woman's Naked Stir-Fried Greens (collards and kale without fatback or ham hocks). No Pressure.......2004-02-22

Good for you Crystal for losing 167 pounds. I don't blame you for writing about it either, something this dramatic needs to be shared. What I really liked about this book was that it did not pressure the reader into losing weight. Diets these days are very stick: don't eat this, you must eat this, that and nothing else. Crystal shows us that you can lose weight your own way and it's up to you to set the pace.

Good Book, A little unorganized.......2003-08-18

I would like to give this book 3 1/2 stars but there aren't any 1/2's so I have written it. I really enjoyed her story and how she worked thru her struggles. It was a little unorganized but still enjoyable.

Good for support!.......2003-02-09

This book allows one to understand that the challenges of temptation for those struggling with weight loss is normal.

Some people kick themselves for backsliding on the diet trail. But this is verifivation that you still can continue and get over those mental humps.

This is chrystals everyday challenges that gets her through the storm. She begins to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I admire her because she experimented and found a method that was good for her. She teaches that there is no "blueprint" available for everyone.

If this book taught me anything it was the power of jeeping a journal. It will help you see where the problem lies and how to get through; and it will enable you to identify what is causing you to stifle your plans. It may be mental, physical or spiritual.

I use this book strictly for motivation. It's nice to read the words of someone who has been there.

I'd like to see her now! I hope she has kept up the good work.

Extreme Case.......2003-01-10

"The Me I Knew I Could Be" is Crystal Phillips' journey from 292 lb (size 26) to 138 lb (size 6). I believe Crystal's obesity and binge eating would probably fall into the worst case category so I couldn't identify with Crystal's struggles, but I was inspired by her committed plan to lose weight. Apparently, the 292 lb was a result of her continuous binge eating (4 steaks, entire peach cobbler, and much more in one setting) causes my emotional issues (anxiety induced by grandfather, death of her brother, volatile marriage, and insecurity) she refused to deal with. Instead of just waking up one morning stating "I'm going to lose weight", Crystal learns the real reason she binged and began to deal with it. She uses typical weight loss techniques that can be found in any book, but what sets this story apart is her true story (complete with journal entries) that describes how she worked through the emotional problems to stop the emotional eating. At times, Crystal discusses how she came to a crossroad had to make the decision on whether or not to emotionally eat - sometimes she did, most times she didn't. When she did emotionally eat, she didn't give up but got refocused. Never does she say she's cured of binge-eating but offers ways to prevent to urge, i.e., after a big family gathering give leftovers away or only buy the smallest portion of a snack item. Her story is very honest.

Included in this book: recipes, before-after photos from her workshop participants, several exercises, and much more. The one unique item I found is the contents for a Survival Kit - a bag packed with healthy food and water that prevented Crystal from stopping at fast food restaurants.

The study of disorder in solids is one of the key areas in contemporary solid state science. In crystalline solids there are well-developed models for describing the way in which defects control the atomic transport, thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties. In contrast, the conceptual and theoretical framework for describing these properties in amorphous solids is less well developed, partly due to the uncertainties in the structural models used to represent the disordered systems. Moreover, disordered solids include materials of great contemporary technological importance, for example, ceramic superconductors and amorphous semiconductors. The field has developed rapidly in the last few years, driven both by technological needs for improved materials and by the fundamental scientific problems posed by disorder in solids. Progress has been especially rapid in structural studies, using diffraction, EXAFS, NMR and microscopy techniques, in investigation of atomic and charge transport and in the application of theoretical and computational methods. The book provides a unified approach to disorder in solids. The earlier chapters present a survey of the theoretical and structural concepts used in describing defective and amorphous solids and the basic properties of these materials. The next chapters are devoted to a thorough survey of techniques and properties, including structural studies, transport, thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties and theoretical and computational techniques. The final chapters review materials and applications, including fast-ion conductors, sensors, amorphous semiconductors and novel glasses. It therefore presents a unique survey of an important field in contemporary solid state science.
