Customer Reviews:
Why did My Uncle use Acetic Acid?.......2007-05-16
Though my Uncle thought he was creating a wonderful low-profile reduction scheme using palladium metal and an electric current; he kinda dropped the ball by using Acetic Acid as one of the solvents. Acetic Acid has become closely watched as it is the reagent used to convert Morphine into Heroin. Why has My Uncle has sent us over to that side of town to make a little meth? All I can say is the guy has a weird sense of humor. That being said My Uncle did include a little synth my sister Wendsday wrote up detailing how to make bromosafrole, from very common materials. This is the real success of the book; as it a true "Apartment dwellers X".
Great Book.......2006-02-25
This book could be considered an addon for Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture - Uncle Fester's most popular book. As he says in the book, there is nothing 'advanced' about the book - and he is right, the chemistry is just as simple as in Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture; he simply needed a good title, and what a good title this is!
The "jewel" of this book is the electrolytic reduction of ephedrine into methamphetamine. Essentially, Fester tells you a way to make methamphetamine conveniently in a dormroom, using electricity! It's quite amazing, and only requires half of the chemicals as in a normal methamphetamine reaction. Also offered in this book is many more methods for obtaining phenylacetone, and methylamine. Another cool part of this book is "Apartment Dweller's Crank or X." He also covers more - even more convenient - methods for converting safrole into MDMA (Ecstasy).
Truely a very nice book, you will like it if you liked Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture.
This book is as useless as the first edition.......2005-07-06
This author previously wrote a book called secrets of methamphetamine manufacture, which has so many errors in it that nothing will work as stated. See erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/eleusis/eleusis.vs.fester.html for a thorough analysis of the mistakes in this book. This new edition is equally as useless. The author obviously has no real knowledge of chemistry and He should be the last person on earth to write a book on this subject. It is a complete waste of money. You can find much more accurate information free on the internet.
Be a PhD on MET.......2004-09-30
This book I think is like a PhD on MET.
MET is not what people say about it. If you want to know (and can handle) the reality about this topic, this books is for you.
I do not use, nor like, drugs, but if ever you go to combat (I'm meaning war), MET is a real need to keep you alive and asleep.
I know that because I was there; I'm a former special-operations officer with 16 years of service in my country's intelligence agency (something like a "mix" of CIA/FBI/Secret Service, now defunct), and I have done years of overseas "contractor" work... I've been in five major guerrilla wars (Angola, Mozambique, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Lebanon), and have done some High-Risk/Short-Time operations on some other dark nasty little places; these times, a dose of MET can mean the difference between coming back in one piece, or not comming back at all.
For the Militia-engaged, MET is an unvaluable "weapon".
Advanced Techniques of Clandestine Psychedelic & Amphetamine.......2004-09-28
This is a must-have for those interested in the processes of mind-altering potions! Who else, but the master himself, Uncle Fester, explores the methods for exploring one's own mind!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent reference for practising analytical chemists.......2001-03-04
This text is an excellent reference for practising analytical chemists. As the title indicates, the emphasis is on analytical chemistry, not physical chemistry. It presents the physical aspects of electrochemical phenomena lucidly, without getting bogged down in the tedium of deriving & solving diffusion equations. The text is comprehensive in treating the major electroanalytical experiments, written by leaders in their respective fields. I give this to graduate students in analytical chemistry and find that they really like it. It is well-referenced, has good figures & tables, and is reasonably priced. This text is a must for transferring your ideas for experiments to the bench.

Book Description
The major theme of this book is analytical approaches to trace metal and speciation analysis in biological specimens. The emphasis is on the reliable determination of a number of toxicologically and environmentally important metals. It is essentially a handbook based on the practical experience of each individual author. The scope ranges from sampling and sample preparation to the application of various modern and well-documented methods, including quality assessment and control and statistical treatment of data. Practical advice on avoiding sample contamination is included.
In the first part, the reader is offered an introduction into the basic principles and methods, starting with sampling, sample storage and sample treatment, with the emphasis on sample decomposition. This is followed by a description of the potential of atomic absorption spectrometry, atomic emission spectrometry, voltammetry, neutron activation analysis, isotope dilution analysis, and the possibilities for metal speciation in biological specimens. Quality control and all approaches to achieve reliable data are treated in chapters about interlaboratory and intralaboratory surveys and reference methods, reference materials and statistics and data evaluation.
The chapters of the second part provide detailed information on the analysis of thirteen trace metals in the most important biological specimens. The following metals are treated in great detail: Aluminium, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, selenium, manganese, nickel, mercury, thallium, vanadium and zinc.
The book will serve as a valuable aid for practical analysis in biomedical laboratories and for researchers involved with trace metal and species analysis in clinical, biochemical and environmental research.

Book Description
Analytical chemical results touch everyones lives can we eat the food? do I have a disease? did the defendant leave his DNA at the crime scene? should I invest in that gold mine? When a chemist measures something how do we know that the result is appropriate? What is fit for purpose in the context of analytical chemistry? Many manufacturing and service companies have embraced traditional statistical approaches to quality assurance, and these have been adopted by analytical chemistry laboratories. However the right chemical answer is never known, so there is not a direct parallel with the manufacture of ball bearings which can be measured and assessed. The customer of the analytical services relies on the quality assurance and quality control procedures adopted by the laboratory. It is the totality of the QA effort, perhaps first brought together in this text, that gives the customer confidence in the result. QA in the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory takes the reader through all aspects of QA, from the statistical basics and quality control tools to becoming accredited to international standards. The latest understanding of concepts such as measurement uncertainty and metrological traceability are explained for a working chemist or her client. How to design experiments to optimize an analytical process is included, together with the necessary statistics to analyze the results. All numerical manipulation and examples are given as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets that can be implemented on any personal computer. Different kinds of interlaboratory studies are explained, and how a laboratory is judged in proficiency testing schemes is described. Accreditation to ISO 17025 or OECD GLP is nearly obligatory for laboratories of any pretension to quality. Here the reader will find an introduction to the requirements and philosophy of accreditation. Whether completing a degree course in chemistry or working in a busy analytical laboratory, this book is a single source for an introduction into quality assurance.

Book Description
Electrochemistry is a well established discipline that has encompassed both applied and fundamental aspects of chemistry courses for nearly a century. In recent years, however, it has become obvious that even broader applications of this valuable technique are now available to advance knowledge and solve problems in organic, inorganic and biological chemistry. In this book, it is shown how a range of limitations that historically have restricted the use of voltammetric and related electrochemical techniques have been removed or minimised so that it is now possible to work in the gas and solid phases as well as the traditional liquid phase. Significant advances in theory, instrumentation and electrode design have also made the technique more user-friendly. The initial chapters of this book describe the basic theory and philosophy behind the modern, widespread use of voltammetric techniques. The later chapters provide examples of new areas of application and predict future possibilities for this exciting area.
