Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Organic Chemistry - Short and sweet.......2007-07-05
This book is extremely helpful and practical. It takes all of the information that you need to know from your textbook and summarizes it very nicely. It gets right to point! Short and sweet! It's like your textbook without all of the fluff. Also, the amount of practice problems are perfect! It follows along precisely with your class.
Be warned..........2007-05-18
I bought another one of the author's titles, from the same publisher, to have something a little smaller to read on the subway rather than pulling out my large textbook. The workable problems and their respective solutions are plagued with errors from beginning to end. I attempted to e-mail and call the author at Johns Hopkins to both bring this to his attention and to attempt to get a corrected solutions set, but to no avail. I feel that posting this is an appropriate warning to students who may actually need to rely on supplemental supplemental material like this to help grasp the material. If his other titles are any indication, I warn you to stay away from this book and seek other material.
Good.......2007-05-13
The order is a little confusing but the information is good and presented well.
Not a textbook replacement........2007-05-10
I just finished my Organic Chemistry course. This book was a huge help, especially since all of the reactions were geared towards synthesis - the most challenging material of the whole year.
What it covered, it covered very well, BUT there was a LOT in my course that wasn't in this book. If you're looking for a great way to learn the basic concepts before you tackle your textbook, this is the book for you. But if your class doesn't have a textbook, or you're looking for a more condensed (and easier to read)version of your textbook, this isn't it. It's a good way to learn the basics, but don't expect it to get you through your class.
I'd recommend Organic Chemistry Demystified if you want a textbook replacement. There was only one reaction in my entire year of class that wasn't in that book, but it didn't break things down as well as Organic Chemistry as a Second Language.
This book is definitely worth your money!!.......2007-04-25
I purchased this book after reading over Mr. Kleins "Organic Chemistry I as a Second Language". I wish that I had found the first book in time for my first semester. I find both books very concise and easy to read. There are tips that it reveals that my professor doesn't have time to go over in class. Unlike my heavy textbook, I can take these books and read them over before going to sleep. In addition, it allows you to practice problems, and supplies the answers in the back, just like a solutions manual. These books were a great find, and I recommend them highly to anyone having to take such a challenging course. It will make your life a lot easier!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent book! (I scored 800).......2005-02-05
This is an truely excellent book. I am not fortunate to have a very deep chemistry curriculum available in the schools in my city (it is actually well recognized as being terrible) but after completing all the chemistry courses available to me I ordered this book off Amazon and realized how much I did not know. I probably spent about 30 mins a night every night give or take for a month, near the end studying several hours everyday. The lab questions in this book, what I found to be the most difficult part, are largely useless and are not on the actual exam but are still good practice.
I would however advise this book for only those seeking to achieve high scores because the content is somewhat difficult and demanding. Good luck
Extraneous info...myriad typos.......2004-06-02
This book has a lot of information in it, but the extraneous matter shifts your focus away from the important stuff that's actually covered on the test. The practice tests in the book in no way reflect the real ones. Worst of all, there are countless mistakes, typos, and missing answers. Don't buy this book.
Long and Detailed Review.......2003-06-08
The Barron's SAT II Chemistry book is extremely long and detailed and has tests that exaggerate difficulty. Each chapter does a good job of covering the core material but it also adds alot of extra information that will probably not be seen on the test. In fact, in the nuclear chemistry section, the book goes into sub atomic particles known as quarks, which havent been seen on the test in ages. The practice tests at first are very pessimistic and are quite difficult.
Yet, if you do study this book completely, take the practice test and correct your answers, there is no reason you shouldnt get an 800 on the SAT II. I found the exaggerated difficulty annoying at sometimes, but, its a tough way of forcing you to do good. In short, if you have plenty of time to prepare for the SAT II, buy this book, and do it cover to cover. Your results should be wonderful.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK!!!.......2002-10-13
Way too much unneccessary information. It's too compact. Most of the stuff do not appear on the real SAT II. It will give you a migraine every time you intend to study from it. But if you do buy this book, stay away from the laboratory setups, and do not attempt to memorize anything. It's useless and come test day you will be juggling pieces of rubbish in your head.
Chem SATII Review by a Chemistry Teacher.......2002-05-29
An excellent Chem SATII prep guide--includes 5 practice tests with correct answers and their explanations, test breakdowns by subject matter, and chemistry content summaries by topic.
Cautions:
Be aware that there are some typos/incorrect answers to test questions. The book also emphasizes laboratory set-ups and some chemical reactions that aren't likely to be part of ANY high school chemistry curriculum for safety reasons (i.e., collection of H2S and HCl gases); nor are they part of most current Chem SAT II tests.

a must for orgo students!.......2003-02-15
This book simplifies the many aspects covered in "Fessenden & Fessenden" book, and the rxn's at the end are extremely helpful to study for exams. Unfortunately, this book doesn't really get into nucleic acids, but it does a great job covering all functional groups synthesis & rxns! A key book for reference as well as explanations regarding intermediates for rxns. A+
Great Review.......2000-11-30
This was a great help to me as I prepared for my finals. The last few pages are especially helpful in summerizing the numerous reactions in organic chemistry. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a concise review before a test.

Book Description
A practical guide to identifying hazards using common hazard analysis techniques
Many different hazard analysis techniques have been developed over the past forty years. However, there is only a handful of techniques that safety analysts actually apply in their daily work. Written by a former president of the System Safety Society and winner of the Boeing Achievement and Apollo Awards for his safety analysis work, Hazard Analysis Techniques for System Safety explains, in detail, how to perform the most commonly used hazard analysis techniques employed by the system safety engineering discipline.
Focusing on the twenty-two most commonly used hazard analysis methodologies in the system safety discipline, author Clifton Ericson outlines the three components that comprise a hazard and describes how to use these components to recognize a hazard during analysis. He then examines each technique in sufficient detail and with numerous illustrations and examples, to enable the reader to easily understand and perform the analysis.
Techniques covered include:
* Preliminary Hazard List (PHL) Analysis
* Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
* Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA)
* System Hazard Analysis (SHA)
* Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA)
* Health Hazard Assessment (HHA)
* Safety Requirements/Criteria Analysis (SRCA)
* Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
* Event Tree Analysis (ETA)
* Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
* Fault Hazard Analysis
* Functional Hazard Analysis
* Sneak Circuit Analysis (SCA)
* Petri Net Analysis (PNA)
* Markov Analysis (MA)
* Barrier Analysis (BA)
* Bent Pin Analysis (BPA)
* HAZOP Analysis
* Cause Consequence Analysis (CCA)
* Common Cause Failure Analysis (CCFA)
* MORT Analysis
* Software Safety Assessment (SWSA)
Written to be accessible to readers with a minimal amount of technical background, Hazard Analysis Techniques for System Safety gathers, for the first time in one source, the techniques that safety analysts actually apply in daily practice. Both new and seasoned analysts will find this book an invaluable resource for designing and constructing safe systems-- in short, for saving lives.

The book also explains when and why to use each technique with sufficient detail and examples to make techniques easily understood and performed by readers. The first book to provide enough information for a reader to adequately perform the technique without additional training, Hazard Analysis Techniques for System Safety is not overly technical, and can be easily understood by readers with a minimal amount of technical background.
Customer Reviews:
Good overview.......2007-06-08
Ericson's book provides a good overview of over more than 20 techniques. The first 3 chapters give an introduction which offer a good framework for the techniques to follow.
Nice concise introduction to system safety.......2005-11-17
This text provides a good, high-level introduction to common (and not so common) system safety analysis techniques. This is the major strength of the book and will provide a great deal of insight into the activities that a principle for safety may expect on a MIL-STD-882 compliant project. I say "may" because 882 is so nebulous with respect to establishing what exactly is required of a developer and PFS are so gun shy to place requirements on industry since Acquisition Reform neutered most of the Defense regulatory authorities back in 2000.
The perspective provided with respect to subsystem followed by system-level progression shows an obvious bent towards MIL-STD-882 as opposed to, say, an ARP 4754 approach of aircraft/system/subsystem. Not surprising given Cliff's background. The unfortunate upshot of this approach is that it hinders one's ability to establish a top-level failure probability objective prior to system development as opposed to driving one down through the design.
Examples provided are at a reasonable level for an introductory text. I would recommend this book above that of Moriarty for both students and supervised practitioners.
