VERY helpful on the way to level 60.......2007-08-25
I had ordered this book along with World of Warcraft, it was very helpful.
Lets talk about what this book is not:
-covers all dungeons up to blackwing lair
-does not cover burning crusade dungeons, nor is there a dungeon companion for the burning crusade (yet) The burning crusade players guide only covers the first 2 hellfire citadel dungeons and the first 2 coilfang dungeons, I don't know why.
To WoW newbies doing dungeons, this book is very helpful, as it lists what level you should be, all the quests you can get, and a walkthrough of the dungeon.
If you were to get a quest for a certain dungeon, you could take a look in the book, get the rest of the quests for that dungeon, and finish the dungeon with confidence, knowing you won't have to come back for another quest if you hated that dungeon.
While great for anybody questing up to level 60, people over 60 will have little use for this book. It could be useful if you go to an old raid spot like Zul Gurub or molten core, but pretty much nobody runs lvl 60 dungeons anymore. Like scholomance and Stratholme.
The biggest problem is the maps of certain dungeons, mainly the large ones. If its your 1st time to blackrock depths or blackrock spire, and you consult the map on where to find a certain NPC or boss, its not going to be of very much use to you, because of the multiple levels of those dungeons make it hard to read a top view map of those places.
overall, A great book for the still-learing WoW player thats very useful when the others in your group don't have a clue of what to do
Dungeon Preview.......2007-07-23
When I bought this, I was hoping it was updated with the new dungeons. But when I received it, it was all the old dungeons of Azeroth and no Burning Crusade Dungeons. In its day this is an excellent guide...but that was 3 years ago.
Very Helpful.......2007-06-27
Especially if you like to study ahead or do things all the way, this Dungeon Companion will truly be your companion as you meet bigger and bigger dungeons in the game.
It lists:
- quests available in each dungeon
- what kind of mobs will be met in each dungeon
- what kind of drops can be found and where
- as well as a walk through of the instance
- it also includes good general information about raids
must have.......2007-04-18
awsome ! amust have , very useful
although I have to agree that it does fall apart easily .
but I still think it is Very useful
Nice addition to the game..........2007-04-11
Lots of info and I found it a good buy. It will guide you through all the instances and quests and many helpful tips to keep your team alive.

Disappointed.......2007-04-13
I am about 2/3 the way through the book and am disappointed - not with the book, but with my schooling!
My profs were great and dedicated, but they didn't teach half the stuff in this book, not nearly enough real-world engineering. We came out of school without really knowing how to make a professional, working circuit design.
This great book will help the transition from school boy to engineer.
I highly recommend this book. Tim Williams explains real-world, critical circuit concerns in an easy to understand manner and backs it up with equations. For instance, did your profs ever explain what "ground bounce" really was, and if so did they emphasize how important it is to prevent and how?
The Circuit Designer's Companion is full of great advice and I hope to find more books by this author.
There's a peer reviewer on my bookshelf!.......2006-12-23
What a great set of proven best practices, design guidelines and engineering knowledge! It's like having a product designer at your side to identify the tough problems and show you how to get through them. I recommend it to electronic designers that have even a smidge of doubt in their grounding, protection, PCB design, circuit performance, power supply or any other electronic product concept. You can skim through the book and do a thorough review of your design. Plus, you will learn the "why" and "how" of circuit design, whether you are doing analog, digital or power electronics design.
Splendid resource!.......2006-12-04
I got this book a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It is very to the point, and has information that I have not seen anywhere else. This book would be great for anyone who is looking to bring their schematics to the real world and have them work. It is definitly not a "here's a schematic and here is what it does book". It assumes you have a decent, but not overwhelming understanding of electronics (I am a high school student if that tells you anything).
It is like a bunch of concepts that would come with years of electrical engineering experience crammed beautifully into 368 pages for you to read.
excellent book to start real-world circuit design.......2004-04-19
This book contains good amount of practical information and is clear and easy-reading. For people who are fresh out of college, this book bridges the textbook education with the real-world circuit design. Get it now to help you make your first job easier.
Must have reference for everyone..........2000-04-14
Everywhere I have worked I've made sure we have lots of copies of this on hand... Many of them walk away because it's such a good reference. If you ever need to design or build a product or just a fun project and have it work, start from here. Everything you won't learn in school, and industry just calls "experience". Combine this with High Speed Digital Design: A Handbook of Black Magic and you have an extremely powerful combination of references, covering all the details you need to know. Very highly recommended.
Book Description
ADVANCED ACCOUNTING offers the most authoritative, conceptually strong, and comprehensive coverage of advanced accounting topics of any text on the market. Completely updated to reflect the latest FASB pronouncements, it is an excellent preparation resource for the CPA exam. ADVANCED ACCOUNTING also provides the tools students need to pursue professional careers in a global economy. This is the only text on the market to utilize the horizontal approach to consolidations worksheets, the format most commonly used in the business world.
Customer Reviews:
Advanced Accounting.......2006-11-03
The text itself is fairly understandable, current and consistant. The problems are mostly with the exercises, problems and on-line supplements and quizes, especially for the government and to a lesser extent, the non-profit accounting chapters. Not all of the wordings and answers in these areas have been updated to the current GASB 34 and 35 statements that the text is teaching to. This is a difficult topic to begin with and having these conflicts makes it that much more difficult to grasp the material correctly.
Customer Reviews:
Great reference, tons of detailed information.......2007-01-12
I found this book to be extremely useful as a reference. One can find things relatively quickly, and a wealth of information is available. It is definitely not an introduction to Latex.
Thorough companion for those with some existing background........2006-11-10
First off, this book is great and up-to-date expansion of the 1st edition, but I'll agree with some other posters who maintain that the book is difficult to navigate... unless you already have a pretty good idea of what you are looking for. It contains clear descriptions and short examples for nearly every topic discussed, but very few longer examples. This book is definitely not for those that have never used LaTeX and are trying to learn the basics for the first time and/or want lots of long, complete, and well commented examples.
To be fair, that's not what this book is about. It is definitely targeted at those with at least some LaTeX experience. However, it would be a 5 star book with the simple addition of separate indexes for "commands" and "concepts" (which are combined into one 96 page index) and the addition of a few pages devoted to a basic "getting started" chapter with some longer and complete document examples.
That being said; there are a number of very good online "getting started" materials available (and/or linked) from the authors web site as well as from numerous other web sites and user groups. It would just be nice to have some of those materials included in the text for completeness. However, once the basics are learned, I don't think there is anything LaTeX related that I would ever need that's missing from this text (aside from some brief coverage of metafont/metapost perhaps -- just in an appendix or something -- but I know that's probably getting way out scope).
How do you pronounce companion?.......2006-11-06
I think this book is a great supplement to Leslie Lamport's manual. It has plenty of historical information about the development of fonts and types and also the macros for problem situations such as long tables or horizontal tables. I sincerely believe it will help the latex programmers learn to customize their style files and produce even greater looking documents.
A complete encyclopaedia for LaTeX.......2006-11-03
This book includes everything on what you're likely going to use LaTeX for. I'd definitely recommend it - even if you already have the first edition.
Nice detailed explanation.......2006-08-28
For the advanced Latex user, this book will enhance your documents to professional looking documents.
Book Description
This supplement to any standard DSP text is one of the first books to successfully integrate the use of MATLAB® in the study of DSP concepts. In this book, MATLAB® is used as a computing tool to explore traditional DSP topics, and solve problems to gain insight. This greatly expands the range and complexity of problems that students can effectively study in the course. Since DSP applications are primarily algorithms implemented on a DSP processor or software, a fair amount of programming is required. Using interactive software such as MATLAB® makes it possible to place more emphasis on learning new and difficult concepts than on programming algorithms. Interesting practical examples are discussed and useful problems are explored. This updated second edition includes new homework problems and revises the scripts in the book, available functions, and m-files to MATLAB® V7.

Perfect but aging companion to Discrete Time Signal Processing.......2006-02-05
This book does exactly what it purports to do - it teaches the reader how to perform signal processing tasks using Matlab. It starts out with signals and systems and moves on to the DTFT, the Z Transform, the DFT, digital filter structures including both IIR and FIR design, and finally covers some advanced topics in adaptive signal processing and communications. It even contains full-blown projects using Matlab on adaptive channel equalization, binary spread spectrum communications, and system identification. The reader should use another text such as Oppenheim's "Discrete Time Signal Processing" to get the theory, and come to this book on how to implement that theory in Matlab. The one drawback is that the book is older, so it is using Matlab 5. Also, another reviewer mentioned that much of the book is inaccessible to users who do not have the rather expensive signal processing toolkit at their disposal. Fortunately, thanks to the open source movement, this last problem has been solved. Octave, now on SourceForge, an open source code repository, has many of the matlab functions available for free that you need to do signal processing.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to signal processing students and professionals who wish to incorporate Matlab into their work.
Excellent for review of DSP Mathematics...........2003-06-05
Great companion book to "Understanding Digital Signal Processors" by Lyons and "Digital Signal Processors" by Hayes. I would recommend this book strictly for a companion book. It doesn't go into in-depth detail or explanation of Laplace, z-transforms, or Fourier Transforms but displays a good foundation for MatLab DSP routines.
Great as a Companion Book!!!.......2003-04-29
I am currently taking a intro to Digital Signal Processing at my university. I find this book is a very good complement to Proakis' Digital Signal Processing book. I have learned a lot about DSP using these two books. the aim of this book is to be a companion book to more traditional DSP books, it tries to be nothing more. In that regard, I believe the book excels. Get it as a supplement/companion to a traditional DSP book and you will learn how to do DSP with MATLAB. Highly recommended!!!
Many functions in examples missing in Matlab R12, R13.......2002-11-01
This would be a great book except it needs to be updated for Matlab R12 and (now) R13. Many of the functions referenced in the book (e.g. zplot, freqz) have now in the signal processing toolkit so one really needs to acquire this toolkit to make the book fully useful.
Excellent hand-holding for beginners!.......2002-09-27
While this is not a book to use to learn concepts,it sure takes you to a deeper level of DSP learning thru clear hands-on examples. Not to mention a few intuitive results which surprise you here and there.

This comprehensive, daily-operations guide provides the hands-on information you need to install, configure, and manage Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
Customer Reviews:
Good Enougth to know how Exchange works........2007-03-20
Hi, this book introduced me the Exchange Server 2003 and was very helpful in my understandable of the software itself.
I've read the comments people posted here about this title and found them misplaced.
The book is very good and covers an wide area of Exchange 2003 administration. It also explains how the software works and gives you a lot of hints about implementing security in your environment.
I didn't rate this 5 stars because it's not SO EASY to find information you that you need for now inside the package. Sometimes you endeavour ours searching chapter by chapter, until find what you want.
If people rated this so poorly and rated Exchange Server 2003 Resource Kit so richly, I believe the last one to be the best book about exchange ever.
I hope to help customers who are intended to buy these books, cause I appreciate these kind of constructive analyse.
Decent Introduction to Exchange.......2004-10-23
As an MCSE, I gave this book 4 stars for two reasons: the CD contains a 120 day trial version of Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition, and the text provides a good overview of Exchange 2003 features suitable for MCSE test prep. I did not rate this book with 5 stars because it is presented as an "Administrator's Companion," which I felt was stretching it a bit. As a previous reviewer has stated, there are better alternatives for strictly "desk reference companions" to Exchange; however, I was pleasantly surprised by how readable the book was, given that it is a Microsoft Press publication.
For example, on page 9, the authors define policies thus: "Policies are collections of configuration settings that are applied to one or more Exchange configuration objects." The authors continue to define various policies in pretty basic terms. On page 268, the authors describe how to create a policy using step by step directions: "To create a server policy, right click the Systems Policy container, point to New, and then choose Server Policy." The instructions are also accompanied by extensive screen shots. While other reviewers found the screen shots redundant to the narrative, I feel comforted by the screen shots that match my screen when I am attempting to implement a procedure by following the text.
The book begins with an introductory chapter that provides a good review of the uses and concepts of Exchange, but is probably a waste of time for experienced users of Exchange. The following chapters include detailed instructions relevant to: planning, deployment, upgrading and migrating to 2003, functionality, security, maintenance (including disaster recovery and troubleshooting), and a fairly decent glossary. The authors also invite commentary and suggestions to their email sites: benglish@networknowledge.com and books@walterglenn.com. Both authors are MCSE and MCT certified.
I would recommend this book for those new to Exchange or preparing for the Exchange Server exam. Administrators looking for a thorough desk reference on the subject should try Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 24seven, ISBN: 0782142508.
Waste of time for an Exchange Administrator.......2004-10-09
If you are an Exchange Administrator who wants to upgrade his support skills to Exchange 2003 this book is too basic. Case in point, Chapter 10 Monitoring Exchange Server 2003. "... Windows Server 2003 records many events in its own event logs."... "Windows maintains three distinct logs" (Application, Security, and System) "You will encounter five types of events in the three logs, and a unique icon identifies each event type so that you can easily disntiguish between the information entries and the error entries"
Aften times you find the author explaining the screen print of a properties page that is right below the text you are reading. News flash we see the picture, don't tell us what tabs there are and what buttons there are, tell us what they do, and when should we use them.
The font is nice and big, and the book makes a good book end for other more useful texts.
This book has many faults.......2004-03-04
After reading this book to find some information with Active Directory Connectors, I found errors that the author should have known better. For example, the book states that the Exchange ADC can only be installed on a Windows 2003 Domain Controller.... this is completely false.
It also mentions to change the LDAP port if you are running Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2003 Domain Controller... according to Microsoft, Exchange 5.5 can not be installed on Windows 2003, much less a DC.
I could write a more accurate book than this.
Find a better book that gives more accurate information.
There are better to be found.......2004-03-01
I thought this book was pretty average. I know its not an exam prep book, and it certainly wasn't, but I didn't think it was much of an administrators guide either.
I found myself getting contually frustrated with the theory, and not enough practice. Buy Unleashed, or go to winstructor.com and get their videos, both are much, much better than this.

Better quality and quicker delivery than expected!.......2007-05-07
Ordered 4 books - two new; two used. All of them seem perfectly unused and the order arrived sooner than promised.
Pretty good.......2007-03-08
I'm taking Cisco Communication class at school, and we had to buy this book. So I didn't have any choice :) But the book is ok, although there are some typos and stupid questions sometimes. However, everything is well exaplained.
Good Book, Gives you good practice.......2005-12-24
I am A CCNA Instructor & have used this book extensively.
There are errors but the errata is published on the ciscopress web site. Besides this, this is an excellent reference for somebody wanting to get hands on experience on cisco equipment.
For anybody studying for the CCNA exam, I highly recommend this book, along with CCNA Intro & ICND by Wendell Odom.
Typos galore.......2004-05-01
This book has excessive typographical errors, causing students to make mistakes in the Cisco lab, and ultimately making the learning experience much more difficult.
Some chapters, such as Chapter 3 (OSPF) use different IP addressing schemes in each lab, causing students to waste time reconfiguring the routers repeatly and reducing the amount of time available to spend on the more important lab portions that are specific to OSPF.
Don't use this book unless you have no alternative lab manuals.
Did anyone at Cisco Press try to complete these labs before publishing this book?
Book Description
The Maya Embedded Language, or MEL, is the very foundation of the Maya application: it's what makes it so powerful. And, if you know MEL, you can make Maya work more efficiently for your own projects. Whether customizing the workspace, modifying the tools that already exist, or creating new tools, an artist versed in MEL is ready to exploit the true power of Maya. The problem is that MEL can be very intimidating to artists and other non-programmers. To an artist, MEL represents a whole other world filled with words like variable, conditional statements, and vector cross-product. Like any other programming language, MEL has its own vocabulary and rules of grammar. To master it, you simply need to learn the rules: you don't have to become a programmer. The MEL Companion helps artists do this. In the first part of the book, you'll learn about the syntax, vocabulary, and structure of MEL - its grammar. You'll learn some basic math concepts, such as types of numbers and simple math equations, and at the end of part one you'll explore concepts for building and constructing programs. The second part covers the construction of scripts that detail some of the ways you can use MEL. You'll learn about expressions, primitive objects, lighting and rendering, tool creation, interface customization, and reading and writing files in and out of Maya. The MEL Companion was written by an artist for artists. To get the most out of this book, you should have a fundamental knowledge of working in 3D and the Maya program. In addition, although you might not have an extensive knowledge and understanding of mathematics, you should have some willingness to learn the basics of working with numbers. Other than that, everything else is explained in language that is hopefully as clear as it is entertaining
Customer Reviews:
Full of errors.......2007-04-29
It's ironic in a sad way that a programming book be filled with syntactical errors and painfully obvious the author didn't bother to proof read, let alone run, his code. I am a newcomer to MEL, but have been programming in other languages (C, C++, Python, Java) for ten years; I feel I've taken a step backwards insofar as my MEL progress is concerned. No one involved with this book has put forth the required effort and as such has done the MEL community a disservice
If the code weren't rampant with errors, this would be the best MEL book out there. As it stands, it's the worst. At the very least, the publisher could have released the errata on their website as others have done.
I recommend David Gould's "Complete Maya Programming" series as an excellent replacement. There's a reason this book is so inexpensive when purchased used. Don't waste your time.
a great mel book...........2007-01-22
an excellent advanceded resource......does the best job explaining UI layouts and their required nesting I have read yet. Very clear and concise. Has full file write and read chapter...file format...even outputing an html page. It is not just in the programs, but the text is very clear and to the point. Includes flow charts, ui layouts...just the whole process to make a student into a professional. Probably the most advanced tutorial is the save weights tool....it reads and writes the vertex skin weights for all influences to a file based not on id but world space locations to compensate for changes in topology.
How did the editor of this book keep his job?.......2005-02-09
While this book was VERY hard to follow ( I'm a pretty technical guy when it comes to 3D) i WAS able to follow it most of the time. What really pisses me off is that it is a programming book and just about every page has a syntax error of some kind or another. Really mad about the fact that just as you think you're getting it there's a not always so obvious syntax error that the author and the editor and the publisher all missed!I spent more time troubleshooting the authors oversights then i did learning anything - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? nobody buy this book until they fix all their little screw ups.
Its very Good .......2004-10-05
I am shocked at the bad reviews this book has received. Make no mistake -> THIS ONE IS A REALLY GOOD ONE . This book is not for rank beginners in mel . Its more for someone who understands the Mel Language adequately.
Definetely the most advanced of books available on Mel. Beginners can take a look at Marks Book. Once you know mel reasonably well this is the book to go for. Yes few printing mistakes are there but that cant take away much from what is a nice book with some thought provoking examples. 5 stars.
An excellent place to go for intermediate MEL scripting..........2003-11-24
This book is not for beginners. However, if you've learned the basics of MEL scripting and are looking for a good place to learn about more complex scripting techniques, this is a great place to start. I feel that this book is complementary to "MEL Scripting for Maya Animators" (which, in the interest of full disclosure, I helped write) in that it's a great book to jump into once you have a strong command of the basics.
