We visited Maui one month ago to spend time with my sister in law who lives out there (lucky girl!). We found this book to be invaluable and think it should be standard issue to everyone who visits the island. We had a couple of problems with it but on the whole it was worth the money :)

Goes WAY beyond your average guide book. I lived in Hawaii for a year and felt like a local thanks to this book (and the series of books for the various Hawaiian islands). No need to carry several guide books to Hawaii - this is all you need. And the online information (which you receive by purchasing a book and getting a special password) gives you even more information on housing, restaurants, etc. and keeps the info in the book fresh and up to date. Cant recommend enough. Mahalo!

This book has a lot of very interesting information. It give descriptions of all of the places I am anxious to visit. It also allows you to go online and read the reviews on all of the lodging on Maui. I have used those reviews to find a place for us to stay. I can't wait to get to Maui to check it out.

Excellent book and well worth purchasing.......2007-08-15

This guide book was perfect with one exception and that was a terrible kabob restaurant in Lahaina. Every other recommendation/write up was exact. We stayed at Prince Maui which was wonderful. The beach was crystal clear in the morning. We saw a couple of sea turtles and I saw an octopus while snorkeling. While we stayed in South Maui, we spent a lot of time in Lahaina. Where we stayed it was quiet and beautiful and my kids (18 & 14) loved it. For surfing, Goofy Foot Surfin School was EXCELLENT. My kids were up on the first time and the guys that work there were very nice and patient. I can not say enough good things about them. Good shopping in Lahaina. The Hana Highway was the most beautiful place I have seen and I wish we would have spent 2 days. All of the waterfalls were excellent. Pg 86 is re Waikani Falls--from where you park, you have to walk across the bridge. Like the book says, it is a tricky first step, but once you get past that, it is an easy hike to the waterfall and the pools below. All of the stops that the book recommends are worthwhile. We did see broken glass so be sure to take valuables with you. For the waterfall on Pg 80, after you pass the stream where you have to cross several large boulders, take the path to the left to get to the waterfalls. It is a bamboo forest and really cool. I think there was a drought so the waterfalls were kind of small but it was really neat. PuPu Lounge was excellent as well as Pita Paradise. We had the Brouchetta plate and I loved it. The blow hole on pg 56 is awesome. You can hike down to the base and it is worth it (I had flip-flops on and did not have too much trouble but you should wear "tenny-shoes" to be careful. We had a wonderful trip and the book helped so much.

Ahhh, that perfect sizzle of steak done well I sit down, pick up my fork and knife and am ready to cut into a little slice of heaven, and the phone rings. Fish, or cut bait? Answer the phone, or get chastised for screening my calls? My steak will have to wait. I answer and a friendly, professional voice promises me a fast way to get out of debt, sell me magazines, or a great piece of real estate in Florida. Arrrgh, my steak is now cold and congealing upon my plate.

Telemarketers, I have always fantasized about tracking down one of these telemarketing creeps and turning the tables -- phoning his house every night at dinner, interrupting a nice, hot soak in the tub, or having him pick up the phone with hands covered in oven mitts. The main character in Carl Hiaason's new novel Nature Girl does just that.

Honey, the "Nature Girl" of the title, has just started dinner when-you guessed it-a telemarketer and interrupts her meal. Honey is a nice girl with some problems. She hears two songs in her head at once-like Nine Inch Nails, and Nat King Cole-and has decided that there's a decided lack of courtesy in the world. Old fans and newcomers alike will delight in Hiaason's 11th novel, another entertaining Florida romp.

Honey lures the unsuspecting telemarketer to the "Ten Thousand Islands" area of Florida with the promise of an Everglade inspired "eco-tour" trap, to lecture him on ethics and common decency. As with all of Hiaason's fiction there is a cast of extreme and zany characters. There's a sex-starved fishmonger: a half-breed, blue-eyed Seminole: a private investigator in search of the "footage of a lifetime": a co-ed wanna-be-hostage, and more.

This is classic Hiaason, so if you are an avid reader, you've seen this before. Even so, it's an enjoyable read. There's an eclectic cast of characters, witty dialogue and humorous phrasing. A nice addition is his strong character development of a young adult character. Hiaason has forayed into children's books with Hoot, a winner of a Newberry award, and Flush, and has obviously become comfortable with creating strong children characters. Hiaason's next book is rumored to be another children's book. Perhaps, a sequel to the award winning, Hoot-I have a feeling that he wanted Nature Girl to be that book, but his publisher demanded another adult novel.
Hiaason definetly sticks to the adage "write what you know". His fiction mirrors his concerns as a journalist and a native of Florida. His novels have been classified as "environmental thrillers" and are usually found on the crime fiction shelves in bookshops, though they can just as well be read as mainstream reflections of every day life. If you love Hiassen, you may want to check out Christopher Moore, who has been called "the unhinged Hiaason" and a man that Hiasson calls "the sickest man I know- in the best possible way."
Me? I'll be looking forward to both Hiaason's next novel as well as Christopher Moore's new book which is being published just in time for Valentine's Day, You Suck: a Love Story which is a sequal to Blood Sucking Fiends. Well, I have to vamoose. I hear the phone ringing.....

I wanted to like this book, I really did. I read Skinny Dip and really enjoyed it. I went back and read more books by Carl Hiaasen as a result. This book just didn't do anything for me. In fact, I can't even get through it. Tried for a second time just recently and still couldn't finish. I think my big problem is that I just don't like many of the characters in the book. I found them rather irritating. With that said, I like Carl Hiaasen's work, as a whole, and will still check out anything new he writes. I'd say, if you want to read Carl Hiaasen, start with something else.

Eclectic and border-line cast of Hiassen.......2007-07-25

Hiaasen is absolutely a fabulous author!! His novel brings together a cast of eclectic and "border-line" personalities into the swamps and keys of Florida with an undertone of environmental responsibility. An "off-her-meds" woman decides to teach a lesson to a telemarketer and his mistress by luring them into a lesson teaching get-away. Her ex-husband is trying to keep an eye on her, as is her 12 year old son. They end up crossing paths with a half-white half-Seminole young man who is hiding from the law due to the death of his first client and his voluntary hostage, a young co-ed looking for adventure and possible romance.
This tale is entertaining and intelligent as always in Hiaasen's approach to his anti-development message. Hiaasen delivers his message in an entertaining intricate story. This is not his best novel but when you are talking Hiaasen they are all good, this is just a little less great than his others.

This series is the most wonderful and entertaining of books!
I got the first book from the library and fell in love with it, and so bought the series from Amazon. These are my favorite books, and I am on my second time through them.

The series starts off about Anne, an orphan girl, who gets sent from the Asylum and goes to live with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert of Green Gables.
Her life is filled with hilarious predicaments! Dyeing her hair, falling off the Barry roof, daydreaming and imagining to much, and plus, her rivaly with handsome Gilbert Blythe.

I highly recommend this series! I loved the rest of the books as much as I loved the first! Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote a masterpice! You will definitely fall in love with imaginative Anne Shirley!

When my Grandfather was a boy he speant time on PEI on a farm located very near where Green Gables would have been. He bought this set for me long before i was able to read and they sat on my shelf until my high school years when i finaly picked them up. I had watched the movies with my Grandfather as far back as i could remeber and assumed the books would be worth reading. They quickly surpassed all other books and became my favorite.
Now, having just graduated college and looking for a litte direction and inspiration (like Anne I'm looking for work as a teacher) I picked them back up and have been rereading them. I feel like these books such life lessons that anyone with any beliefs can read them and learn good values.
These books and movies have always been like a comfert food for me these are the books and movies i read and watch when things are going bad.
I highly reccamend these books to people of al ages, they are well worth the time, and are a nice and easy read.

So accurate, so entertaining.......2007-10-05

Reading the book itself was like experiencing everything the author had while researching it, the writing is candid, humorous, insightful. It made our three day (I know, short) trip to the Big Island a great success. Except for one thing: the winds that the author describes as being strong in the afternoon on the Kohala coast are actually strong in the morning, but (according to our hotel) only in the summer (around September). If you spend such a short time on the island, this book is totally worth it. I just wish we had been considered "locals" like him, because in the low season (September), Hawaiians just aren't as friendly. There were hardly any tourists (weather is less predictable, it's past the main travel season in both US and Asia) and the locals appeared to be enjoying their time away from the crowds. But that's our experience, and don't let it stop you from buying this guide.

This book enriched my trip to the Big Island of Hawaii immeasurably. Its recommendations of things to do, places to eat, and its guide to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park made the trip a sure thing.

I haven't had a chance to put this book to use yet but it has been invaluable in planning so much so that we are not going to purchase any additional overall guide books for Hawaii. The big features of this book versus other guide books are great maps and numerous color photos. It is also fun to read. I was surprised to find restaurant and comprehensive lodging info included, particularly if you refer to their website for more info. They even have links to the properties' websites.

The only drawback is the lack of detail on each of the hiking trails. Lots of description but the basic information such as length of the trail is often left out. It also seems the authors really want you to go to the out of the way trails. Many take all day or multiple days to do. Perhaps they are all like that on the Big Island and on Kauai (the other book in this series I've purchased.)

Great guidebook.......2007-09-22

I found this guide to be very accurate and complete. I liked the way things were grouped with basics in one section followed by detailed descriptions (including mile markers) starting from one point and working their way around the island, then a separate section for beaches, activities, hikes and adventures. The writer's comments are very funny which made for easy, enjoyable reading too. The maps were very accurate and easy to read as well. I would have been lost with out this book!

From this point on, fans of the series' smarty-pants wordplay and acrobatic narrative can rest assured that they're in for more of the same (and how) in this 368-page finale, and Daniel Handler's deadpan Snicket continues to tutor a generation in self-referential humor (including one particularly funny bit regarding three very short men carrying a large, flat piece of wood, painted to look like a living room). Snicket notes, of course, that if you read the entire series, "your only reward will be 170 chapters of misery in your library and countless tears in your eyes."

There's one big question, though, for anyone who's made it through "the thirteenth chapter of the thirteenth volume in this sad history": is the final book a fitting end? That question is probably best-answered by one of The End's most oft-repeated phrases: It depends on how you look at it. Those looking for conclusive resolution to the series' many, many mysteries may be disappointed, although some big questions do get explicit answers. Unsatisfying.......2007-09-24

I had such high hopes for at least a few answers to all the superbly intertwined questions developed in the previous 12 books. Unfortunately, after finishing "The End," very few were truly answered, and a long laundry list of questions remain dangling in the wind waiting for resolution. In fact I feel like this book created more questions than it answered. I can appreciate the author's style and desire to leave some of the resolution up to the reader, but in my opinion, it was too much, and I was left very unsatisfied. After 12 books of building suspense, "The End" is very anticlimactic.

Really fun book to read with children.......2007-08-26

I almost didn't read this book after watching the dreadful movies, but it was recommended, so I gave it a shot. I like to pick fun books and read them with my children. My 8 and 10 year old sons have really enjoyed these books, and it keeps them interested in reading. I have been hooked on Harry Potter, and these books do not captivate my interest anywhere near to the same degree, but they are a really fun series that I have had a great time reading with my kids.

A tacky ending to a great series.......2007-08-25

I've read most of the Series of unfortunate events books twice and after finishing the 12th one, I was very excited for the last to come out. The end of the 12th book sets up a great stage for the series end, were all our burning questions will be answered.

So, I get the 13th one the day it comes out. I read the book non-stop, waiting for the grand finale that will reveal everything.

So what did the ending reveal? nothing good. It really only reveals one thing, and its not even something I would have thought about if they hadn't brought it up. The only redeeming thing about the ending is that count olaf dies, which I'm sure everybody was eager for.

I would rather have Lemony Snicket release a FAQ answering all the mysteries in the series than having read this book

The World is Quiet Here.......2007-08-21

This book is so much more then i can put down. It is all so speachlessly true and powerful. I cried 4 times-and then went into shock! It's like Lemony says my thoughts. It is all so emotional-everything from Beatrice to the RING. V.F.D is expecialy important. I can not think of anything it needs. I promise that this book will be more then anything you have ever read. You won't be disapointed in the least. Please choose to purchase this book. If you don't you'll need help. That way you can learn the mystery of the ring and all of the other secrets that are dangerous to you- rather you know them or not. He warned you from the very bad beginning that it might be more then you can handle.

Highly disappointing.......2007-08-05

While I loved the first twelve books, and even reread them all carefully in final anticipation of the thirteenth, I really hated The End. Unbelievably disappointing. So disappointing that I gave away my entire series of first edition hardbacks.

This book is not main stream. Its critics would probably call it the radical theories of a "gold bug". A more "establishment" answer to the criticisms brought up in this book can be found in Galbraith's - Money, From Whence It Came and Where It Went.
This book is structured very well. It is easy to read and very persuasive but if you are like me, after you finish this book you will have more questions than you have answers.
The book makes some good points on the other hand it promotes many fantasies.
Mr. Griffin could be right on many things but his answers for the most part would not make things better - but worse in my opinion.
The solution to the MONEY problem are more complicated than the answers that are supplied here. This book is a good book to buy and to read but one must read it very critically - very critically.

Fearfully Factual - Wholly Horrific.......2007-04-22

If you, like me, believe that the truth doesn't always makes sense, but the WHOLE TRUTH usually does, then you will appreciate and value this well researched, carefully written work by G.E. Griffin. Even so, this is just the tip of a much bigger iceberg, but for anyone who wants to know why the working class has to work so hard, just to go backwards, you will find out a very definitive answer in this book. This book is a must have for any TRUTH SEEKER fighting for facts in an age of profiteering deceipt. If you are new to economics, please read "Whatever Happened To Penny Candy" by Richard J. Maybury and Jane A. Williams first and you will know more than than most politicians. Griffins other book, "A World Without Cancer" is equally as researched, informative, and important.

Even a beginner can understand.......2007-04-04

When I first read this book - I had only just begun looking at the banking system and how it worked. My knowledge extended a bit past CNBC - but not much. I found it understandable and enjoyable. Since my original read (about 3 years ago) I have read it again and bought a second copy to loan out - I don't want to lose my original. I'm not sure Joe Average could simply pick it up and be enthralled, but if you have an interest in the banking system - this is a great book - even if you have little background in the subject.

You can read the other reviews for synopsis and overviews. This is a must read and should be required reading for all Americans. It is a well researched and footnoted exposition on the Federal Reserve and far more. Griffin goes into fascinating asides regarding the origins of money and banking and the ways that bankers have instigated wars while supporting both sides. This book should be of great interest to those who enjoy either history, finance, foreign affairs, mystery or politics and answers many questions as to why the "world" is as it is today. The first 50 pages are a little slow and then it reads like a detective novel. It could even be argued that it's one's duty to read this book.

Favorite Book Ever.......2006-03-21

Island is a masterpiece of adventure, suspense, charm, and of all things - nation building - literally! I can't understand why they haven't made a movie of it(Johnny Depp as Harry?). I read constantly in almost every genre and Island remains my all time favorite.

This book is one of a kind. Its heroes are con men but it is not a crime novel. It involves spies and invading armies but it is not a thriller.

Perhaps the best clue is the beginning quotation, which is from Thomas More's UTOPIA. This book is about the perfect country, as desgned by a con man. It is hilarious, suspenseful, and a good, thoughtful, read.

This is an excellent book. I had read Pursuit and was looking for something to read. I picked up Island and loved it. The story is highly original and not predictable. If your looking for a book that will have you engrossed pick this book up.

Hard to find, worth the search.......2002-04-19

Much as I enjoy Perry's Jane Whitfield tales, I regret that his wonderful pre-Jane novels are almost all out of print: Butcher's Boy, Big Fish, Metzger's Dog, and especially Island. These books all side with hard-boiled yet intrepid, dryly humorous (sometimes hilarious) bands of petty larcenists stealing from even worse characters than themselves. Island has a married couple absconding with the Mob's money, which they use to create a pile of garbage on a sandbar somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle. They then announce the creation of a new nation (and tax haven), import some Native North Americans for an instant indigenous population, and they're off. Complications ensue as the years pass, bigger fish take an interest in Harry and Margaret's scam, and the islanders start forgetting it's all a scheme and begin to get downright patriotic about their tiny island paradise--much to Harry's consternation. Perry has rarely shown the whimsical touch and dry humor in his Whitfield stories as he did in Island and his other early works. I advise anyone finding a mystery-themes used book store to hoover up any old Perry volumes you can find...

Island is possibly one of the best caper mysteries ever. Certainly the best I've ever read. Thomas Perry has the unique gift of creating both interesting characters and an engaging and complex thriller/caper plot. His other books are all must reads but this one is a stand alone as we watch how a group of con-artists running from the mob attempt to pull off one of the biggest cons ever-- it's not everyone who can make their own country.

This is an academic work by a contingent of skilled scientific experts whose writings & basic investigative work was coordinated, in part & on behalf of TIGHAR (Int. Group of Historical Aircraft Recovery) & updated 2004. The 27 chapters describe a forensic approach to solve the mystery of aviatrix AE's disappearance enroute 2,223 miles to Howland Isle from Lae, New Guinea, July 2, 1937.

The book's format & length makes for difficult reading: -- it is based on best available scientific evidences & hypotheses of multiple disciplines of archeology, geophysics, aeronautics, anthropology, and review of both private & governmental archival information in addition to tabulating their search findings on tiny remote South Pacific Phoenix Isle "Gardner", but renamed Nikumaroro, or "Niku". Author was a principle TIGHAR investigator taking part in expeditions to Niku, & he writes with authority, -- having "been there, done that!"

Inclusion of more than 100 photos, illustrations, maps, etc., makes the reading more easily understood & tolerable: -- for it is not a book one picks up and being enchanted 'reads from cover to cover' without pause. For readers who want an up-to-date analysis of AE's disappearance this book is best read after the reader is thoroughly familiar with AE's character, avocations, skills, life experiences's and accolades by the press, politicians & the powerful, -- for Amelia was a complex person living in exciting, changing times on the cutting edge of new technologies.

Many of the chapters begin with stanzas of word parodies to be sung to certain melodies, attributable to TIGHAR but not author King. The parodies I found to be highly irregular, unsettling & not in best taste, so downgraded book from 5* to 4*.

Those persistent TIGHARs are back with more suggestive but inconclusive research about what happened to Amelia Earhart, who disappeared in 1937 -- somewhere.
Every so often, somebody shows up in Hawaii with a kooky theory about Earhart, ranging from shot by the Japanese as a spy to still alive and keeping house in New Jersey.
The International Group for Historical Aircraft Recovery is far from kooky.
For one thing, they appear to have managed the trick of being zealous without becoming zealots. As lead author Thomas King puts it, "Most people have more pressing things to do" than hunt for a lost airplane that, given the odds, would more likely than not be under three miles of water.
The TIGHARs work, for free, in their spare time, on the assumption that, despite the geographical odds, Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan didn't just run out of gas and sink under the ocean. They think Earhart missed her target but may have crash landed on an intermittently inhabited (but in 1937 empty) island named Nikumaroro, where Earhart and Noonan might have either survived for a while or been eaten by crabs.
It's "a mystery that can't be put down," King says.
But hard to pin down.
Since the publication of "Amelia Earhart's Shoes" in 2001, the TIGHARs have run down more physical evidence, including things that look a lot like panels from a Lockheed Electra, but nothing definitive yet. The revised, 2005 edition is preferred over the first edition.
The story of the hunt also reveals a great deal of fascinating information about the South Pacific, which is big, mostly empty and weird.

HOW you solve the mystery is just as important.......2006-09-26

Who says historical research and science have to be boring? In Amelia Earhart's Shoes, Dr. Tom King and others take us on a winding (sometimes loopy, even!) journey that tries to answer the question: What happened to famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart and renowned navigator Fred Noonan in 1937 after they vanished during her around-the-world flight attempt?

Amelia Earhart's Shoes does not pretend to solve the mystery - it does show that by applying the scientific method to a popular event, you can strip away all the myths and fables and assumptions and come up with relatively simple explanations that can be tested to see if they are true or false. That the scientific method may upset a few of those legendary apple carts along the way is proof that it works - something is either true or not true, provable or not provable. In Earhart's case, the truth may turn out to be much more mundane than some of the more colorful "solutions" to her disappearance would have us believe.

There is a lot of information in Shoes, but it is presented in an easy to read, almost chatty style (think ghost stories around the campfire while making s'mores) that keeps you turning the pages to see what the heck is going to happen next. The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR) has now been to the South Pacific eight times to try and prove or disprove their hypothesis that Earhart and Noonan missed their destination, tiny Howland Island, and landed on another deserted island, only to die (or perhaps be completely missed) before the frantic searchers could get to them.

Amelia Earhart's Shoes is a great read that should be on the bookshelf of everyone interested in what really did happen out there in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean almost 70 years ago.

Fantastic, not at all dry!.......2006-05-02

I saw one of the people involved in this project speak at EAA's big national air show in Oshkosh, WI last summer. It was the most popular lecture session I attended while I was there. Interested, I picked up this book expecting a thorough but dry, academic read.

Was I ever wrong! This book is not only fascinating, it's funny! It's written with some dry humor that made me want to keep reading more. And the authors lay out a strong argument, to boot. It does make one wonder...

I Couldn't Put This Book Down!.......2002-05-03

I picked up this book at my library on a lark. I've always been interested in what really happened to Amelia Earhart, but always just assumed that her plane crashed into the ocean. This book, however, completely opened my eyes to a new hypothosis: that Amelia and her navigator managed to land on an island and send out radio signals for help. The information presented in this book isn't just wild guesses and conspiracy theories - the authors make a point of backing up their thoughts with cold, hard evidence. I was hooked from the first page and got so engrossed that I ended up not doing my work at my job just so that I could finish a few more chapters. The book also has a wicked sense of humor and debunks the myth that scientists are just stodgy old guys. I'd reccomend this book to anyone with even an ounce of curosity. I'm holding my breath until Dr. Tom King and the other authors put out another book on Amelia. I can't wait to see what they find!

Solving the mysteries of Easter Island.......2005-07-26

Near the end of "Aku-Aku," one of the archeologists working with Thor Heyerdahl admits to being astonished at yet another unexpected turn of events.

"I never knew archeology could produce so many surprises," he says.

Indeed, anyone who thinks that archeology is just about digging in the dirt will be surprised -- pleasantly -- by "Aku-Aku."

In this account of his 1955-56 expedition to Easter Island and other Polynesian islands, Heyerdahl presents a series of mysteries: Where did the great stone statues on Easter Island come from? Who made them? How did they move them? Where are the hidden caves of Easter Island and what secrets do they hold?

Heyerdahl is not a great writer, but he is usually good enough. His weakness lies in portraying people; even the most prominent character of the book -- Easter Island's mayor -- comes off as just a simplistic caricature. An odd quirk of the author is that he refers to some characters almost solely by their titles -- "the photographer," "the skipper," "the doctor." After awhile you begin to wonder if these people have names.

But Heyerdahl is passionate about his work and his enthusiams shows as he presents -- and, mostly, solves -- mystery after mystery. He is relentless, for instance, in trying to get the natives to reveal their secret caves, even when it means he has to eat a chicken tail, strip to his underwear, and climb down a sheer cliff without a rope.

(The caves are a curious form of secure storage on this island that seems to lack locks. Note to self: Open self-storage franchise on Easter Island.)

A couple ethical issues occur to me, although I can't claim to have the whole picture from just one book. Did Heyerdahl adequately reward the islanders for the artifacts they gave him? He mentions some gifts but it's unclear whether all of them received something and how much. Also, he resorts to some trickery to get the natives to give him things -- is this fair? (I'm sure Heyerdahl would argue that he had to immerse himself in the natives' world of superstition and ghosts to communicate with them successfully.)

The bulk of the book is about Easter Island but the last two chapters discuss the expedition's visits to other islands. The story of the dig on Rapa Iti is particularly good, and I would have enjoyed a bit more on these other islands.

A must for archeology fans.......2000-11-15

Though criticised as commercial and overexposed, Thor Heyerdahl must be considered as one of the first scientists in wide spreading his archeological knowledge in an amusing and understandable way to common readers. And this book is a clear example of his effort. After his scientific expedition to Easter Island in 1957, Thor Heyerdahl wrote this fascinating book of discoveries, new theories and adventures. It was such a pleasure for me reading it that I can only recommend it.

Mysteries of Easter Island Explored.......2000-02-02

A good book if your interested in Easter Island. It was not quite as interesting a read as Heyerdahl's "Kon-Tiki" however. It tends to focus on the natives currently living on the island more than those who created the statues the island is famous for. But, criticisms aside, Heyerdahl proved again to be a very adept writer.

This book was very informative about the expedition to Easter Island by Thor Heyerdahl. While, at times, the writing was characteristic of a journal...it was nevertheless informative and a good read.
