Book Description

By the #1 New York Times bestselling author Kevin Trudeau comes the last diet you will ever need. Imagine, you will lose at least 30 pounds in 30 days...with no hunger...no exercise...and no surgery!

An absolute cure for obesity was discovered almost fifty years ago by a British medical doctor. Tens of thousands of people used this simple, inexpensive, safe medical treatment and achieved miraculous, fast, and permanent weight loss. Stubborn area fat deposits melted away. Body reshaping of the hips, thighs, buttocks, and waist was so dramatic it appeared as if the patients received liposuction! Amazingly, this medical breakthrough has been debunked, discredited, and suppressed by the American Medical Association, the Food and Drug Administration, and other medical establishments throughout the world. Now, for the first time in fifty years, this revolutionary breakthrough discovery, which permanently cures the condition of obesity, is being released to the public.

The main problems that overweight people deal with are massive, intense, constant physical hunger; food cravings and uncontrollable urges to eat when not hungry; low metabolism; and an abnormally high amount of fat stored in stubborn secure problem areas such as the hips, thighs, buttocks, and waist. This "weight loss cure protocol" has been proven to be virtually 100% successful in correcting these conditions, thus curing the individual of obesity for life! Read the fascinating true story of how this discovery was made and, more importantly, how this miracle weight loss breakthrough has been hidden from the public so that drug companies can make billions of dollars selling their expensive drug treatments and surgical procedures for obesity. You'll be amazed to read how the food manufacturers actually have a financial incentive to make you fat! This is the book that answers all the questions about why people today are continually getting fatter and fatter. The good news is this book gives you the cure that can solve your overweight condition once and for all.

1 out of 5 stars Got cha!! You've been had!.......2007-10-08

Not the least believing much could be gained by buying this book, but I thought it'd be fun to read, once the TV sales rep had my credit card number they charged numerous other books to my card over the course of the next few weeks after buying the one.

If you're going to check out the book-wait for it on the library list and save your money. Or at the very least get it from amazon where they are likely to only charge you once and not continuously illegally use your credit card to sham you. For heavens sake don't call the number from the infomercial!!!

The big secret? 500 calories a day. Medically known as starvation. Another surprising item? Exercise. Walk an hour a day. If I wasn't dying laughing at this point - add in that you MUST add organic apples and grapefruits and veggies to your diet (you don't get much else-100 grams of meat several times a day.) These items are not new and they are not secrets. The BIG shush is that he recommends a growth harmone created by fetus's in the womb. Going to cost you in the neighborhood of $1,200-$2,000 dollars to find a dr. in the U.S. that will prescribe this med. Hollywood stars and rich moguls are advertised as veteren users of this advice and they are the only ones that can afford this silly regime and the only ones that can easily pick up a new wife when the first drops dead or starts growing odd new appendages.

If you think rationally about your health, at what point in time is your body exposed to fetal growth harmone? Yeah. OK. Add weirdo things to your body you will eventually get weirdo results. When your own pituitary and thyroid revolt against this addition to your body, where will this guy and his advice be? My best guess is summering on a tropical island with the money he made from us patsies. I expected as much when I bought the ONE book. I get a little angry that they continue to charge my card for books I DID NOT buy.

Absolutely no misunderstanding with the company-they try to shove these extra books down your throat while you order, the tv phone line is a bunch of thieves. Get it at the library - it is amusing, get it from Amazon - heaven forbid you call the infomercial.

Did I forget to mention that it also involves repeated enemas?

1 out of 5 stars The Weight Loss Cure.......2007-10-08

This would be a good book. Good Ideas if everyone that needed to lose weight were rich. Ordinary people can't afford the treatments he suggests

1 out of 5 stars Rip Off.......2007-10-07

This book is a total rip off. Don't waste your time or money. The "protocol" he gives you in the book is mostly colon cleanse every day for 15 days, shots from your Dr., and a regimine that no normal person (especially a working person) could ever follow.

Take my advise and save your money.

1 out of 5 stars A Charlatan Makes it Rich.......2007-10-07

Years ago my daughter worked for this evil clown. Since then, I have watched and read whatever came up about him in the media. When I saw his other book featured in my local health food store, I had to back up and take a second look to make sure the face on the cover was really that scam artist, Kevin Trudeau. Sure enough, it was the man of colossal and unmitigated gall. I had to laugh, the guy is unbelievable! This guy will do anything, fast talking, double talking, and loop de loop talking his way to gain access to your money. In his other book he compiled information founded by other people, people who really did the leg work and then he just repeated himself over and over again to fill up paper and fill out a book. His writing rants and raves about the rotten medical profession. (Yes,the medical profession has gone to hell) But, he is like the guy who sits behind you in class who never studies but copies your answers at test time because he wants the good results but doesn't want to do the REAL WORK. Before someone gives this conscienceless narcissist another penny, you need think it thru. First, count the number of his infomericals. There are quite a few. And anything he's ever sold has never been the products of his own ingenuity. The only ideas he ever has is about lining his pockets with money and how can he next do that effectively. Google him and read about the competitive billiards team he put together. His billiards players were told they would make $100,000 each the first year, guaranteed by Kevin himself. Then, it didn't happen and they couldn't reach him. That feature was on 60 Minutes. Those people moved from their homes, and quit their day jobs and he did nothing to help them and wouldn't even talk to them when they found his 'guarantee' to be nothing but a sham. If you want to find a good way to lose weight, improve the quality of your life, your mood, and the longevity of your life order The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, or Eat-2-Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, or any of the Dr. John McDougall books, or Dr. Dean Ornish's, or John Robbinsbooks or the book Diet for a Small Planet ...These are the men and women of substance who researched long and hard. They each went thru their own personal odyssey that sent them on their search for dietary truth. Please do not allow yourselves to be ripped-off. I applaud the successes of good hard working people, as I am sure everyone else does, but not con-artists like this Trudeau character. He should have been kept in prison because that is where he truly belongs. Yes, he is a snake-oil salesman. He would get no stars in my rating but a review cannot go thru without at least one star, so there is my one dishonest star for Kevin Trudeau.

1 out of 5 stars Threw it away!.......2007-10-05

I have only rarely actually thrown out a book, but did with the 3 I got by him. I had ordered them in a special deal and was so disgusted with all of them and his paranoia & smugness, I put them right into the dumpster. Plus, of course, the main reason was his gobbledygook rantings and raving.

Book Description

The bestselling author of The Botany of Desire explores the ecology of eating to unveil why we consume what we consume in the twenty-first century

"What should we have for dinner?" To one degree or another this simple question assails any creature faced with a wide choice of things to eat. Anthropologists call it the omnivore's dilemma. Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn't-which mushrooms should be avoided, for example, and which berries we can enjoy. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore's dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance. The cornucopia of the modern American supermarket and fast-food outlet has thrown us back on a bewildering landscape where we once again have to worry about which of those tasty-looking morsels might kill us. At the same time we're realizing that our food choices also have profound implications for the health of our environment. The Omnivore's Dilemma is bestselling author Michael Pollan's brilliant and eye-opening exploration of these little-known but vitally important dimensions of eating in America.

Pollan has divided The Omnivore's Dilemma into three parts, one for each of the food chains that sustain us: industrialized food, alternative or "organic" food, and food people obtain by dint of their own hunting, gathering, or gardening. Pollan follows each food chain literally from the ground up to the table, emphasizing our dynamic coevolutionary relationship with the species we depend on. He concludes each section by sitting down to a meal--at McDonald's, at home with his family sharing a dinner from Whole Foods, and in a revolutionary "beyond organic" farm in Virginia. For each meal he traces the provenance of everything consumed, revealing the hidden components we unwittingly ingest and explaining how our taste for particular foods reflects our environmental and biological inheritance.

We are indeed what we eat-and what we eat remakes the world. A society of voracious and increasingly confused omnivores, we are just beginning to recognize the profound consequences of the simplest everyday food choices, both for ourselves and for the natural world. The Omnivore's Dilemma is a long-overdue book and one that will become known for bringing a completely fresh perspective to a question as ordinary and yet momentous as What shall we have for dinner?

Testing the review. Looks like a good call to the conscience's health for eating habits.

5 out of 5 stars Compelling reading!.......2007-10-09

Not only did I find this book incredibly informative and insightful, I found Pollan's style of writing effortless to read.

This book should be either compulsory reading in public high schools in America, or the key principles contained in it should be taught as a class. I'm sure it would go a long way to reducing American obesity and Type 2 diabetes, both of which have reached epidemic proportions and do not bode well for this country's future.

Whilst I am neither pro carnivorism, nor pro vegetarianism (I believe this is a matter of personal choice), I do believe this book presents an eye-opening account of the price paid by this blue planet in order to feed Mankind.

I have read this book more than once, and each time through, something new makes an impression on me. If you are an inhabitant of Earth, you owe it to yourself and the ground you stand on, to read this book.

1 out of 5 stars Another Author Induges Himself in Unsustainable Musing.......2007-10-06

This book, which repeats so much already published, basically follows through to its initial premise: that food in america is unsustainable. Along the way, the author indulges himself in great celebrity and ego stroking wit. The segment on the boar hunting is quite hypocritical. The main thrust of the author's theory is that all systems, including alternative, are unsustainable. The conclusion he avoids, is that the failure to find a solution will result in many deaths, if not the extinction of human culture as we know it. Perhaps, all that anyone can learn here is that it is hopeless, go back home, accept your fat and your fate, and try to die quietly. So many other books are better than this one. Unless you are a total newbie to these debates, you will find little that is refreshing here. The author basically finishes where he begins, with nothing but personal insights, and no insight into a broader solution for "sustainable" food sources.

5 out of 5 stars Makes Americans understand food again........2007-10-05

I'd recommend that everyone go out and read this book. It will remind you that eating is a political and ethical act. It certainly reminded me of that.

Omnivore's Dilemma can be summarized very quickly: Michael Pollan eats four meals, and tracks down where they all come from. It is a brilliantly simple conceit, and could only be pulled off well by a writer as gregarious, warmhearted, easygoing and scientifically rigorous as Pollan. He wants to know where McDonald's comes from, so he goes into a cornfield, follows the corn through cows on its way to becoming beef, and visits the "Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations" (CAFOs) in which they're slaughtered. He interviews corn farmers. He explains the perverse incentives which have motivated corn growers to produce more and more of the stuff, even when it's not needed. (The government pays them the difference between some set price and the current market price. Hence farmers have an incentive to produce as cheaply as possible.) This is one of the reasons why we as a nation are growing fatter and fatter.

Pollan takes it a step further, though, making something explicit that had never occurred to me: the fact that our country is so nutritionally faddish, leaping from fruit diets to hourly enemas to high-carb diets to high-protein diets, is a sign of something deeply dysfunctional in our relationship to food. Pollan never really figures out why we might have this relationship. The lack of a distinctive national cuisine might have something to do with it, he says, but the end effect is clear: we don't eat well, and nowadays we're as likely as not to microwave something and eat it in the car. The family meal has been destroyed, and with it the sense of community that food fosters in healthy societies. Pollan's writing is meticulous and heartfelt, and it made me desperately want to change the way I eat.

After McDonald's Pollan paints the bright side of the American meal: places like Polyface Farms that are growing more-than-organic food: food that is completely sustainable and delicious. Cows, pigs, and chickens roam widely on a carefully maintained schedule that keeps the grass growing at the optimal rate. The farm produces almost no waste: every last bit of organic matter feeds the next step in the cycle. It's something of an agrarian utopia . . . and it's probably completely unrealistic for feeding a nation of 300 million people. Indeed, says Pollan, our nation certainly would have capped out at a much smaller population had we not had industrial farming. (It's a reasonable counterfactual, but it's debatable.)

After he visits a self-sustaining farm, Pollan tramps off into the wild to hunt and forage for his own food. Also not sustainable at large scale, but that's not the point: Pollan is trying to reorient us to what meals are about, and how they're philosophically and ethically larger than just what's on the plate.

Pollan's book has made me want to try being a vegetarian again. My girlfriend used to be a vegan, but has turned around 180 degrees and eats a high-protein meat diet. (Atkins vegans are, I imagine, hard to come by.) So the vegetarian thing might have to wait a bit. Being vegetarian isn't really the sine qua non in Pollan's book, though; if anything is, it's short food chains: knowing where your food came from, using food to support your community, and reducing the amount of petroleum necessary to get it to your door. (If peak oil ever comes, bananas may be history.) Joining a CSA is well within my power, and I intend to do so soon.

If I have any gripe about Omnivore's Dilemma, it's small: Pollan is a bit too self-satisfied. At one point he eats a meal in the car with wife and child, driving at 65 miles per hour down the highway in California. I don't actually believe that he wanted to do that. I can hear him saying to himself, "This would make an excellent story for my newspaper article." Likewise when he's reading Peter Singer in a steakhouse. If more of the book seemed like Pollan being Pollan, it'd be perfect.

As it is, it is just about perfect. I intend to buy a copy just to have around to shove into people's hands. It's a life-changing sort of book.

1 out of 5 stars Important facts horribly misinterpretted and spun to sell books.......2007-10-05

Pollan frequently omits, denies or downplays important facts.

1) We will never determine the optimal diet is impossible but we can gain a better idea of what the optimal diet would be through science. (Yes this is inherently reductionist.)
2) That people make bad use of research is not the fault of the research.
3) Traditional food cultures are not optimal diets.
4) While the food industry does in some sense affect the food we eat, the food they produce is determined by individuals desire for inexpensive food that never goes stale and contains lots of sugar, fat and salt.
5) There is no evidence that many artificial foods are unhealthy.
6) Most people don't want to garden and there is no reason they should.
7) Pollan doesn't mention that animals are unnecessarily tortured in the production of our food.
8) Most, if not all, people could benefit from some kind of nutritional supplements.
9) The intelligent consumer now has the opportunity to eat healthier than people have ever eaten before
10) Ok, I admit it. If you don't know anything about nutrition Pollan's basic ideas will have you eating healthier than the typical American.

Fans of the National Geographic Channel's The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan will be grateful for Cesar's Way, an accessible guide to help new and current dog owners better understand the needs of their beloved pets. If you are not yet a fan, try to catch a couple of episodes of the remarkable show--you will be amazed, impressed, and motivated to create a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with your dog. In Cesar's Way, Cesar explains that dogs are not complicated, and despite what various owners think--not human. They rely on three key elements in their lives: exercise, discipline, and affection (in that order). "Problem dogs" can be attributed to "problem owners," owners who don't understand and misinterpret their dog's behavior. Cesar's Way is really a training program for dog owners, with chapters devoted to understanding the "power of the pack," taking responsibility for "how we screw up our dogs," and learning how to manage aggression. Cesar's book (a must-have for new and old dog owners) moves beyond basic obedience school techniques, and teaches owners how to change unwanted behavior by better understanding their "best friends." --Daphne Durham

Cesar Millan's Top 5 Tips for Going to the Dog Park

1. Make sure your dog is spayed or neutered, has all her shots, and is in good health. Under no circumstances should you bring a sick dog to a dog park!

2. Do not use the dog park as a substitute for the walk! If you drive to the park, leave your car a block away and take your dog on a vigorous walk of at least thirty-five minutes to drain some of her energy. Never take an over-excited dog to the park.

3. While at the park, don't "punch out" on your calm-assertive leadership. Be aware of your dog at all times, and take responsibility for her behavior.

4. A calm-submissive dog will not attract another dog's aggression--but an excited dog, a weak, timid dog, or an aggressive dog can become a fight-magnet.

5. Know your dog! If your dog has poor social skills, is overly fearful or is dog aggressive, or if you have not yet established your calm-assertive leadership with your dog, find a more controlled way to introduce her to the company of other dogs, such as "play dates" with one or two other dog owners.

Very interesting book. I recommend it. It is more in depth than the television show and he also talks about his life in it.

5 out of 5 stars Cesar shows how naive most pet owners are.......2007-10-06

From the sympathetic crocodile lover neighborhood in Florida that got a gardener killed because they passed laws against extracting crocs from their neighborhood to the San Francisco mother that got her child killed by her pitbull, Cesar shows the naive and stupid world of pet lovers and owners that these beasts are still amoral creatures, not moral understanding humans. As Cesar said in the Oprah Winfrey show, the biggest mistake most pet owners make is to humanize their animals and that's what gets them in trouble. According to Cesar, it's not that animals are better or lesser than humans, it's just they are not human.

5 out of 5 stars I love Cesar!.......2007-10-04

This book is an easy read. It gives a fair amount of background as to how Cesar Millan got his start as well as the method behind his madness. Anecdotes and straight-forward advice give the reader some general ideas as to how they might curb certain pet behavior issues. You can agree or disagree with Cesar's training methods, but you have to admit the guy genuinely cares about AND has a way with both dogs and people.

2 out of 5 stars vague.......2007-10-02

Though his basic ideas make sense, the book fails in that it never gets around to specifics. For example, Cesar tells you never to let your dog go in the door first. OK, fine...but how? Never let your dog walk ahead of you on the leash. OK, fine...but how? What can you actually do to stop the dog from going ahead of you? If you are like me, and are having problems with a dog that is physically stronger than you are, this book will not be very helpful. After reading this book I still have no idea how I'm supposed to hold back an exuberant and powerful animal so I can walk ahead of her.

4 out of 5 stars Cesar Milan- the dog Magician.......2007-09-26

Cesar Millan, is THE DOG MAGICIAN!! He has a rare, very gifted way of just knowing what is 'inside a dogs head'! Most of us humans do not have this. The book is excellent and will help many of us dog lovers to understand our wee dog friends better and give them a better life!! By Sheena from Scotland.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Dr Pitcairns natural health.......2007-10-05

This is absolutely a must book. Giving dogs prescribed medications often involves side affects which shorten their lives. Being able to find out about natural products that can help them is great. It can not only lenghten their lives, but also cost less in the long run. I highly reccomend this book to all dog owners.

4 out of 5 stars great resource.......2007-10-01

this is a great resource book. It has lots of background info on dog foods and so much info on great supplements. It could be made easier with breakdowns or charts to guide you for quicker reference, because I find myself having to flip back and forth a lot. There is definitely lots of info and it has to be read more than once. I think the recipes are sound and easy to make. Although I can't cook for my dogs all the time, at least I can do it whenever they are ill or recovering from some ailment or surgery to ensure that their bodies are strong when they need to heal. This book makes it manageable to do that.

4 out of 5 stars A great resource.......2007-09-23

This book is a great resource for pet owners. I find the health-care section of the book very useful. I have modified the recipes to accomodate the inherited allery issues my dog has. Modifying the recipes is a very involved process as the substituion of products recommended and appropriate amounts required for balanced nutrition can be a hassle to figure out, especially, if one's pet was allergic to multiple products.

This is a great book for pet owners who want to try homemade cooking and alternative medicine for their pets.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent overall but diet not suited for all .......2007-09-01

There is more than one way to feed a healthy, non-commercial diet. I recommend buying both Dr. Pitcairn's book and Andi Brown's book, The Whole Piet Diet, to see which diet your animal(s) prefer. I have three pets, two 13-yr. old cats and one 1 1/2-yr old terrier. The cats had been eating holistic Blue Buffalo dry food along with some canned Friskies. The terrier was eating holistic Blue Buffalo dry food along with some raw meat, veggies, yogurt, etc. I recently learned that dry food is difficult for pets to digest and is terribly drying and causes digestive problems like vomiting, dandruff, etc. The Friskies is just plain junk food so I decided that I was going to feed healthier fare and bought both books (Dr. Pitcairn wrote the foreword in Andi's book). While Dr. Pitcairn promotes primarily raw meats with cooked whole grains, Andi Brown promotes cooked stews (grains included for dogs only, not cats). After experimentation, I found that my dog and one cat prefer Dr. Pitcairn's recipes and my second cat prefers Spot's Stew (from Andi's book). When I made the switch, I only started feeding the recipes without supplements to the cats. It took 15 days for them to eat consistently, then I started adding the supplements in small amounts and gradually built up to the daily recommended amounts. Tip: my cats preferred Andi's supplements over Dr. Pitcairn's (especially the essential fatty acids in the form of oils). All of my pets are doing very well on the diets but only because I was persistent in finding what worked best for each pet. I will never feed dry food again!

1 out of 5 stars It's a shame..........2007-08-29

...that an obviously experienced and well researched vetrinarian would recommend a diet that includes grain as one of the staples of the diet. Anyone who does even a minor amount of research about the special diet needs of a dog would easily find that dogs do not possess the proper enzymes to break down grain properly and can lead to either minor or serious allergic reactions. Dogs should not eat any type of grain at any time. Anyone who reads this book, do not take it as gospel. Please do more in-depth research before you make any solid decisions on your dogs diet.

Besides that fault, there are only a few recipies included in this rather long book. I heard very good things about this book before I bought it and was thoroughly disappointed after I read it. Its hard to give this book anything else but a negative review.

Book Description

Kevin Trudeau blows the lid off a nest of deception and double standards concerning general and individual health in this new book, "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You To Know About." Kevin has risked government prosecution to bring you the full story of an intricate conspiracy.

From the retail supermarket outlets of huge, publicly traded corporations comes processed, manipulated, engineered "food products" - produced by other wings of the same corporation. These artificial, toxic treats are then sold with the blessings of the Federal Trade Commission and Food and Drug Administration - government organizations charged with safeguarding the public good - laying the foundations for future disease and chronic ill-health for the consumer, and a guaranteed source of revenue for the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Kevin reveals the shocking truth of how drugs - which are being advertised directly to the consumer, pushing their use to an all-time high - are actually the cause of illness and disease climbing to near epidemic levels.

And, though it sounds dire, Kevin offers a light in the darkness and directs the reader to scores and scores of alternative therapies, medical practices, philosophies and - most importantly - potential cures that help your body regain its natural state of health and vibrancy.

So follow Kevin on an amazing journey through the behind-the-scenes world of corporate sponsored "nutrition" and "health," and learn about "Natural Cures 'THEY' Don't Want You To Know About."

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars a new perspective.......2007-10-09

I personally found this book to be very helpful. It outlines some basic health rules that we need to keep in mind, which we sometimes overlook. It also is a really eye opener to the current realities of life. The bad thing about this book is its a bit too repetitive and it does not give you specifics about the cures, which should of been discussed more in detail, but i give it 4 stars since it has really good facts & overall i liked it.

1 out of 5 stars ...I have a bridge to sell you..........2007-10-03

Way too much marketing and hype with this book when there are good legitimate books by actual biologist that are very down to earth and simple to read for a proactive reader....as Cure the Incurable by Mikhail Tomak

5 out of 5 stars Worth the Money.......2007-09-29

This book is very enligthening. Yes, people do live longer today but at what cost. Degenerative diseases are at an all time high. All drugs have side effects and they don't "cure" anything. If they cured ailments why do we have to keep taking them? All drugs do is supress the symptoms and never get to the root cause of the problem. All traditional doctors do is write prescriptions and cut out body parts. A lot of Kevin's ideas can be found in other sources. There is a lot of truth to what he is saying. It is all about the money. If everyone was healthy and used natural remedies the healthcare industry would suffer greatly. Read the food labels and tell me if you know what half that crap is. Why does food need all the additives and preservaties? It doesn't - it's put in there because it's cheaper and makes the food taste good. I have been buying organic food and using natural body products. It does make a difference. It may cost more but can you really put a price on your health. I know people who go broke trying to buy all their prescriptions each month. It's common sense the more natural the better for your body. I will visit my doctor if I feel I need to but I will definitely implement as many of Kevin's ideas that I find pratical and can afford. I can't do everything in his book but I can do some of the things. The book is worth the money so please read it. People are so judgemental. So what if he is a convicted felon? He tells you this in his book. He was greedy which puts him in a better position to recognize greed. $9.95 a month to subscribe to his website is not a whole lot of money per month if you feel it's worth it. We all spend money on things that we feel are important to us. Another consumer advocate that I like is Mike Adams (The Health Ranger). You can subscribe to his newsletter for free at www.newstarget.com. He has free downloads but there is a cost for some of his books. It's not free to publish a book. Take care and good health.

1 out of 5 stars Can I Have My Money Back?.......2007-09-23

By far, the worst waste of money I have made. Most of these "natural cures" anyone with any common sense already knows. I regret contributing to this scam.

5 out of 5 stars Some fantastic advice.......2007-09-22

I approached the best selling "Natural Cures 'they' don't want you to know about" with a healthy dose of scepticism. After all, should we really take advice on healthy eating from a convicted fraudster? But I've concluded that Kevin Trudeau is the ideal person to write about the total scam that is the pharmaceutical industry and its packaged food counterpart.

"Natural Cures......" is basically a tirade against the culture of drugs and packaged foods that have taken over the modern world. Trudeau explains how this culture of drugs and snack foods (and some other products) is undoubtedly responsible for making us sick in many ways. He goes on to offer ways to reduce toxins in the body and cure or prevent many diseases.

A lot of what Trudeau teaches us is nothing new for most of us (snack foods have numerous chemicals, GM food loses much of its nutrition, etc.) but he goes to great lengths to make us realise just how serious the problem has become, just how extensive the lobbying and coercion of politicians can be and just how misleading drug or food advertising has become. So many lies and scams are exposed in this publication that there will be at least one revelation for everybody.

After making all this clear, Trudeau goes on to offer tips and ideas - many of them beautifully simple - on leading a healthier lifestyle to clear the body of toxins and "never get sick again".

A lot of the advice is superbly simple yet often something we would never think of (Buy organic fruits and make a fruit shake every day, don't buy any product with ingredients you can't pronounce, etc.) and very passionate. Trudeau clearly practises what he preaches and has very extensive knowledge of the industries he discusses.

It's true that some of the author's ideas make him his own worse enemy. Statements such as "Animals never get sick" and "Wearing a magnetic ring will help you eliminate chaos" simply invite his many critics to knock him. But there are so many articulate, practical and genuinely heartfelt arguments and suggestions in this book, I get the impression many critics have based their reviews on their dislike for the writer.

This book did what "Super Size Me" and "Fast Food Nation" failed to do. It made me realise the dangers of my diet (as the aforementioned works also did) but it also gave me the inspiration and impetus to actually make a positive change. I've done two juice fasts and a water fast since I got this book two months ago. I've taken up many of Trudeau's ideas and I feel far better for it.

Highly recommended, if only to see what the fuss over this NY Times bestseller is all about.

A few points to clear up:

1) This is NOT a scam. There is excellent, verifiable, common sense and easy to follow advice in this book. All the two line "It's a scam" reviews are clearly fakes from people who never read the book.

2) Trudeau DOES NOT recommend Scientology. He makes reference to one author involved in Scientology. That is all.

3) For all the 'smart Alec' people who say "Save money don't buy this book and just lives healthy". What is healthy? Many of us would think of drinking milk, eating @low fat@ foods and taking medicine when we are sick. That's the way we think , and Trudeau gives a balanced argument as to why this is wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Kevin Trudeau Natural Cures Book review.......2007-09-16

I actually had purchased this book for my husband, thinking he would like it. I opened it up, and could not put it down. Since that time I ordered all of his books reading them with new awareness. This book was incredible, and I believe it to be true. We have completely changed our lifestyles since my husband and I read this book. My daughter was cured from "acid reflux" in 3 days. My son's excema is gone in less than 3 weeks from only eating organic food. This book was not only a great read, it has changed our lives.

1 out of 5 stars Do your homework b4 you buy.......2007-09-15

I was going to by this book through the info commercials that he has as it advertised free shipping. So I called the number.

As usual, with the free shipping they had add ons for additional books, which is understandable

But, when I told her all I wanted was the book and the free shipping, she told me that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to receive my book unless I paid extra for the express delivery fee. I explained to her that, in this time and age to receive something after 4-6 weeks have gone by is just a rip off and I cancelled the order

After doing a bit of homework after that situation I saw a recommendation for Mikhail Tombak books and I bought them and they are great reading for someone that is proactive in their health care......and he is an actual biologist

5 out of 5 stars Great Information!.......2007-09-11

I've been reading and learning about natural health and nutrition for years and I agree with everything that Kevin Trudeau talks about in his books because it is analogous to everything I've already learned in the past. This isn't new information but it's like a complete compilation of all the other books that I own and more. Trudeau suggests reading his first Natural Cures book before reading this one and I agree because his first book is like an introduction to his second book. Even though the first few chapters about the government, FDA, FTC, etc. can be tedious, I believe it is a crucial part of the book because it shows how much corruption is out there in government agencies and big corporations. They aren't concerned about the health of this nation, they are just there to make money. If you don't believe that, look around... the evidence is everywhere. Some people who gave this book bad reviews look as if they've never even read the book. The saying is true, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

PS: If you think his list of suggestions on how to never get sick (chapter 13) is impossible to follow, just do what you can do and gradually add other items into your list of good health habits. You'll be glad you did!

3 out of 5 stars great but not affordable.......2007-09-06

My husband bought me this book cause he's into all that natural healing stuff, and the book is good, but most of the products he recommended to buy (in the back of the book), I would never be able to afford!!! The simple things like apple cider vinegar for acid reflux/weight loss and staying away from food with preservatives was very helpful, but why promote products that most people can't afford?! And I wish their natural cures site gave info for free!!!

Book Description

Natural swimming pools rely on the correct balance of plants and microorganisms to clean and purify the water. They are a safe place for children to play and birds to drink, and are a dramatic example of ecological design, combining the natural and man-made worlds while creating beauty. These pools offer enjoyment not only in the warm months, but during winter, too, when they can be used for ice skating and other activities. Often the focal point of a garden, natural swimming pools blend into their environments, flowing into the surroundings with plants and rocks. They reflect the changing seasons and they enhance the environment naturally. They are easy and less costly to maintain than chemical pools, providing significant savings in water. Chlorine and other common pool chemicals are hazardous to human health and are not used. This book is a necessary resource for anyone interested in having a natural swimming pool and shows how a natural swimming pool system works, as well as the environmental, health, and safety benefits it offers. Drawings, diagrams, and charts cover planning, design, biology, materials, construction, planting, and maintenance. Over 300 beautiful color pictures feature projects that will inspire you to have your own natural water garden where you can swim in harmony with nature at any time.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Perfect book.......2007-09-04

Great book for all aspects of creating a variety of green/natural pools. Beautiful pictures and good illustrations and copy to help in decision making.

5 out of 5 stars YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK .......2007-08-22

Simply put this book is a MUST READ for anyone intersted in any aspect of Sustainable and Ecological Design. It should be read right along with Permaculture by Mollison, the Passive Solar Handbook by Mazria, Rainwater Harvesting by Lancaster, and ecocities to Living Machines by Todd. Even if you aren't specifically interested in making a swimming pool (which you will be after reading it) the insights into the workings of hydro-ecologies and how to design natural systems are invaluable!

If you aren't interested in the whole range of sustainability but just this particular topic of pool design then this book is STILL A MUST READ. If you're an ecologist who wants to make a pool, or a pool designer who wants to do something ecological this book provides an excellent layman's understanding of ecological design, with good technical and artistic advice for how to do it, and good technical and artistic advice for swimming pool construction.

I would still advise you to also purchase the book Poolscaping as a companion to this one.

This is an all around excellent book buy it now.

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful photos; strange text.......2007-08-01

Thumbing through the book will make you want to move to Austria or Germany where beautiful "natural" pools are somehat established. Why is the U. S. so environmentally backward? Unfortunately, the text is awkwardly translated at times such that one has to struggle to figure out what is meant with limited success. The assumption is that one is swimming only in the summer, but in California we may want to swim year round. Useful especially since so little information is available. Can't understand why the publisher didn't insist on professional proofreading.Buy it for inspiration, or wait for the next edition, or wait for one more applicable to your area. It does provide info in the back about two U.S resources, one in CA.

5 out of 5 stars Very complete book .......2007-02-24

Is the book i need for learning on natural swimming pool. Now i can make my own pool

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly COMPREHENSIVE!.......2007-02-09

This large sized book covered the subject exceedingly well in lots of color photos with explanations and, more importantly, in lots of diagrams and nuts and bolts descriptions. I only read sections here and there but what I did read clearly indicated to me that you could actually use this book to build a natural swimming pool. At the least, you could definitely make a solid decision whether or not you could build or would want to build such a pool on your property. These pools are basically like salt water aquariums in that you have to make a biosphere and monitor it. In some ways it's not as easy as it sounds but also not as hard as it sounds. However, start up takes time and it can be tricky to finally reach environmental stabilization. I am not going to build a natural pool but I still found this book very useful. At the end this book are MANY pages of water plants and trees recommended for certain types of water areas. There are zone maps of the US included for reference. So even if you just want to make a little ornamental fountain in a big pot on the patio deck or a pond or a bog out back, this book has a VERY comprehensive set of plant lists you will find exceedingly useful. 18 pages of them. Categories include Submerged Plants, Floating Plants, Floating Leaved Plants, Shallow Marginal Plants, Deep Marginal Plants, Moisture-loving Plants, Bog/Marsh Plants, Waterside Plats-Trees & Shrubs, Ferns, Grasses Sedges Reeds and Rushes. Botanical and Common Names are listed along with height, spread, water depth, flower color, flower period, foliage, position, comments and plant zone. It's the best I've seen in any book so far.

This comprehensive book explains in lucid, assured terms how to practice the fertility awareness method (FAM), a natural, scientifically proven but little-known form of birth control (which is not to be confused with the woefully ineffective "rhythm" method). Author Toni Weschler has been teaching fertility awareness for almost 20 years, and it's only just now gaining in popularity. As the book explains, by using simple fertility signs including peaks in morning body temperature and changes in cervical position and cervical mucus, it's possible to determine when ovulation is taking place. Fertility awareness is therefore useful for not only couples who are trying to conceive, but for those who are aiming to avoid pregnancy without the use of chemical contraceptives. It will be of special interest to those women who have suffered from infertility; many FAM practitioners have told the author that by filling in the detailed charts in the book, they've realized that they were chronically miscarrying, even when their doctors told them they weren't conceiving at all. As the book explains, by charting body temperature, it's simple to tell when pregnancy has occurred--and when there's danger of miscarriage. Taking Charge of Your Fertility also explains how to choose the sex of your baby by timing intercourse according to certain fertility signs. It also features thorough, easy-to-understand explanations of hormones, the menstrual cycle, and menopause, along with fertility tests and treatments and their long- and short-term side effects, plus a topnotch resource section. Recommended for any woman who wants to better understand her body. --Erica Jorgensen

5 out of 5 stars Thanks to this book I have my baby!.......2007-10-05

This book is wonderful - it's very simple and easy to follow with lots of example to illustrate more complicated concepts.
I have so called "lazy ovaries" and only menstruate around 4-5 times a year. With a better understanding of how my body works and how to know the best time to conceive, we bingo'd on our first try to have a baby. Enough said!

5 out of 5 stars A little work brings big rewards.......2007-10-04

This is a well written book that makes understanding your hormones and fertility logical and reasonable. I bought this book on a recomendation from my Sister In-Law and I am so glad I did. Side effects of birth control pills can be hard on a woman's body both physically and mentally. This book provides lots of information for understanding the ins and outs of fertility. I have used it succesfully in both avoiding and achieving pregnancy.

Book Description

A bright, science minded boy goes to the beach equipped to collect and examine flotsam--anything floating that has been washed ashore. Bottles, lost toys, small objects of every description are among his usual finds. But there's no way he could have prepared for one particular discovery: a barnacle-encrusted underwater camera, with its own secrets to share... and to keep.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book.......2007-09-27

This book is a wordless story appropriate for children of many ages. The pages are full of beautiful illustrations that actually tell a story without having to use words. It also gives children the opportunity to use their imaginations to some degree because they are not strictly told what happens. In it, a boy finds a camera washed up on shore and develops the film. The pictures reveal underwater fantasies in large, brightly colored images.

5 out of 5 stars Intriguing and beguiling.......2007-09-20

When my wife first saw this in the bookstore, she called out, nearly shouting, "Look at this." One look wouldn't do - couldn't do! The detail and clever storytelling in this book are amazing. This book belongs on the shelf of every illustrated book lover.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product & Prompt Delivery.......2007-09-15

This item was exactly as described in the item description. It was in the original packaging and is in excellent condition. I am very satisfied and I highly recommend this seller and product to everyone. This is an excellent book by an excellent author!

3 out of 5 stars No Words!.......2007-08-27

This is a beautiful book. Great pictures. But, no words. My child was very confused when there were no words to read. It does allow you, however, to expand and make up a story. But, I would have liked to know that this book had no words before I bought it!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, all pictures but beautifully "told" story.......2007-08-16

This book generated much discussion among my kids and myself. Because there is no text, but amazingly detailed pictures telling this story, there is much room for theory and imagination oriented discussions.
