Missionary student, have used this book. .......2007-08-15
Excellent for use in third world countries. Every missionary should own a copy of this book. The only reason I do not give 5 stars to this book is because of the philosophies of David Werner on community development, which contradict biblical community development ideas. For instance, he promotes some non-conservative ideas about birth control. So Christians, just be careful whose hands this book gets into. I would give the same warning about the "where there is no women doctor" book. That one is definitely not worth buying, you're better off with a good basic handbook on childbirth and prenatal care.
common sense.......2007-08-05
or lack thereof, c'mon people give me a break! If there is no doctor around and you are in need of medical attention then MOVE! stop whining because you have not lifted your feet for the entire existence of the planet! This kind of thing just nauseates me. I wish them well but c'mon, move away from despair and get closer to somewhere that a doctor can help you! Progression is hard I suppose.
A village health care handbook for Africa, not an EMT manual........2007-05-30
Judging this book by its intended purpose it looks very good. Many things are basic like cleanliness, diet, don't smoke ciggarettes, etc. But I thought some were not so basic (and I couldn't find them in my boy scout manual). For example:
Page 67: the possible medicines needed for injection (Appendicitis - ampicillin or penicillin with streptomycin, syphilis - benzathine penicillin, gonorrhea - kanamycin, etc).
Page 154: six different vaccinations and the reccomended ages.
Page 169: a flowchart to care for a person with acute diarrhea (when would you give them metonidazole, or co-trimoxazole, or ampicillin?).
Page 180: treatment for pneumonia.
Page 208-210 chart: 38 different types of skin problems which include onthocerciasis, vitiligo, and kwashiorkor.
ETC.
Also the basic stuff is so well laid out that I could see it helping a worker organize their thoughts along the lines of "What do I need to check?" or "What do I need to teach those who don't know the basics?". If you were in a remote situation, people were sick wanting you to help them NOW, and THERE WAS NO DOCTOR this manual would be very reassuring to have. Stress can make you forget basics. Or maybe if you were in the States and couldn't afford health insurance and wanted to be sure you were in true need before you went to the doctor who will bill you for walking in the door?
Very VERY basic.......2007-04-26
Unless you have no experience with basic medical care you will likely find this book very elementary and you would be better off buying a boy scout's handbook, although it wouldn't cover some of the female items, it would give you more information on dealing with the day to day.
The numerous references about 'seeing a doctor' defy the title and purpose implied by the book.
Very useful material.......2007-02-24
David Werner has assembled a wonderful primer for anyone rendering care in the third world. There is useful information for everyone from lay people to MDs, well worth the time it takes to read the book. I especially like the succinct treatment plans with common and inexpensive medications. Treating patients in the third world without a laboratory, X-ray, or other modern tools takes a different mindset that WHERE THERE IS NO DOCTOR puts into perspective.
Strongly recommended. I'm taking a copy back to the mountains of Panama with me next week.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Slow Start But Great Ending.......2007-10-09
If you can get past the parts of the story about the pink spoonbills, or whatever those birds are called, you will see that Doctor No is one of the best novels in the Fleming series. The story starts off slow, but really picks up when Bond arrives on Crab Key. This is just full of adventure, great dialogue and Bond goes through one of his worst beatings in the last chapters of the novel. If you enjoyed the movie, then you will definitely like this 100 times more since it expands and tells more than the movie does, even going into why his name is Doctor No (which isn't his birth name). This is just a really good book that you won't be able to put down once the real action gets started, just be warned that there is a slow beginning.
The first great Bond villain.......2007-10-07
Although Dr. No is the sixth book in Ian Fleming's James Bond series, it is also a first in a few key ways. From a cinematic standpoint, Dr. No was the first James Bond book adapted into a movie (with only a crude TV version of Casino Royale preceding it). In addition, it is the first of the Bond novels to feature the villain as a title character (to be followed by Goldfinger and The Man With the Golden Gun). Most significantly, perhaps, is that Dr. No is the first novel to feature the truly megalomanical villain; only Hugo Drax, in Moonraker, comes close, and even his ambitions fit more in the category of violent than power-hungry.
As Dr. No begins, John Strangways, Britain's man in Jamaica is killed along with his female assistant. With no bodies found, it is assumed the two ran away on a lover's tryst. In England, Bond is recovering from a near-death experience (which occurred at the conclusion of From Russia With Love). M, uncertain if Bond is up to full strength, assigns him to look into the disappearance, figuring that it will be more of a vacation than a real job. Bond is insulted, but takes on the assignment.
Bond, who last met Strangways in Live and Let Die, suspects the worst, a feeling that intensifies when people start following him and attempting to kill him. The only suspect is the mysterious Dr. No, a Chinese-German who owns most of Crab Key, an island around thirty miles from Jamaica. Before Strangways died, he had been investigating claims that Dr. No was disrupting a bird sanctuary. With the assistance of the local Quarrel (also last seen in Live and Let Die), Bond decides to sneak onto Crab Key for a closer look.
Once they get to the island, they encounter the beautiful shell-seeker Honey Rider (what would a Bond book be without a beautiful woman, usually psychologically scarred and in need of meeting the right man?); Honey will accidentally alert the guards of their presence, eventually leading to capture by Dr. No. Julius No is the epitome of a Bond villain: clever, resourceful, merciless and sadistic. Dr. No wants to have his own little kingdom and he isn't about to let Bond get in his way. Of course, he will carefully describe all his plans before leaving Bond in a deadly trap.
Yes, it is a little over-the-top and has its share of traits that would eventually become cliches of the genre, but for what it intends to be - a straightforward and simple adventure story - it succeeds well. Following on the heels of what is perhaps the best Bond book - From Russia With Love - Dr. No is Fleming continuing to be at the top of his writing game.
A Great Bond Tale.......2007-08-08
Years ago when I first read Ian Fleming's Doctor No, I loved it. Having read it again recently, I think it is still one of the best Bond stories. The characters are unforgettable - Bond's trusty companion Quarrel, the beautiful Honey Rider, and the nefarious Doctor No. The tale has a great Caribbean setting and possibly the best challenge for Bond to face, i.e., the obstacle tunnel designed by Doctor No so he can test the endurance of the human species. This is a Bond story that you should certainly not miss.
Super Reader.......2007-08-04
An Asian supervillain, this time. At the end of From Russia, With Love, Bond had been poisoned and fighting for his life. With some first aid from a friend, M has time to call in some specialists to help save his life.
He is sent to recover in Jamaica, and look into why one of their agents, whom he met in Live and Let Die, has vanished.
He meets a blonde babe beachcomber, and also Quarrel, again. They discover Dr. No is working for the Soviets to cause problems for the US military and their missiles.
Pulp, Good Pulp.......2007-04-13
I'm not a big Bond film fan, I like the occassional one, but I thought I would give one of Fleming's novels a read.
As my first Bond Novel I found Dr. No to be a pleasant surprise. It's a bit pulpish but it suits the story.

Book Description
Translated into more than 80 languages, Where There is No Doctor is perhaps the most widely-used health care manual in the world. The book provides vital information on how to diagnose and treat common medical problems and diseases, giving special emphasis to prevention. Recommended by the Red Cross, this guide is ideal for people in rural communities that don't have medical centers or hospitals nearby. It will show you how to identify illnesses that are frequently misdiagnosed, measure and administer medicine, deliver a baby and much more. It covers children's and seniors' health and illnesses, as well as advice for pregnant women and midwives. You'll learn how to treat ailments from diarrhea to tubercolsis, use home remedies and identify those illnesses that require professional medical care. Includes hundreds of illustrations and a glossary.
Un accidente o una enfermedad en comunidades donde no existe un médico obliga a la mayoría de las personas a ponerse en manos del primero que ofrezca apoyo a esperanza de alivio. A must have for medical interpreters!.......2003-07-14
This is a fantastic reference for people interested in working as a medical interpreter. The information presented is practical, well-organized, and addresses the impact of culture on health care. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a valuable self-training manual.

It is absolutley the most valuable book to have!.......1999-07-05
I loved reading this book from a friend that I was compelled to special order it on the same day I read it! I never buy books but this book changed my life. I spread the news about it and now all of my friends have bought the book too. I'll be going to Mexico and will be taking extra copies of Donde No Hay Doctor with me. I plan to distribute them to rural and literate families. I hope this book will be announced more especially within the Hispanic Communties. I can only wish this book is read at least once and that people will see how invaluable it is.
I won't leave home without it!.......1998-12-30
We just returned from a Hurricane Mitch Medical Relief Team in Honduras. This book was invaluable to the entire team. Comprehensive enough to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of ailments not often encountered in the US, and basic enough to share the info with the patients to aid with education. A must for anyone practicing medicine in Spanish speaking developing countries. We live near the Mexico border and I've ordered one to help me out here!
Useful & practical.......1998-02-07
I came across this book in Mexico in 1986. The book is clearly written and comprhensive. It should be a valuable resource for persons in rural Latin American (spanish speaking) populations where there is no health professional. We have a 13 year old spanish speaking foster daughter through Healing the Children. She has limited reading skills (classified EMH) and is facinated with the learning to be found in Donde No Hay Doctor. The simple but comprehensive drawings spur her on to struggle (because of her limited ability) through the reading (well written). I wanted a copy to send back with her to her rural village in the Dominican Republic.

This book is a classic.......2006-07-19
Having worked for several years in refugee health, this book, along with "Where there is no doctor" were staples of our field health libraries. I was incredibly happy to see the book on the shelves in our clinics on the Thai-Burma border, and feel that it provides really thorough basic information for women's health programs. I think it is a really good teaching aid for rural health workers- my only wish is that there were glossy full page anatomy pictures- but alas. . .
Good general info.......2006-07-10
I brought this as a companion to "Where There is no Doctor" for a trip to Guatemala. Althought parts are very helpful, I tended to refer to the other book for concrete help. Excellent info of family planning, breast feeding which is a must for health care workers.
well-written.......2005-08-30
Great book! Highly recommend it! I particularly like that it is written in simple, easy-to-understand terms with illustrations. It provides basic but key information about women's health care -- Dalay Lawrence
An easy-to-use, practical guide........2003-11-21
Tonight I turned the television on and was distracted by a little blurb on CNN. They were discussing tuberculosis, andit got me thinking about how one would diagnose/treat it in the absence of our current health care systems.
I decided this would be a good test for one of my birthday gifts from my amazon wishlist - a copy of this book. This is supposed to be a practical reference guide for female-oriented health problems. I picked it up and thumbed through it, and was distracted again by just how well-organized and useful the book is. It's cross-referenced in dozens of ways, it's written in plain language, and there are thousands (according to the cover, and flipping through it I certainly believe it) of simple explanatory drawings.
I picked a subject about which I know a few things to really test it out: pieces of placentas left in the womb after childbirth. This was a big issue for us when I worked at a large horse farm - after a birth, the placenta is expelled from the body (doesn't matter if it's a cat, a horse, or a human for the basics). You're supposed to carefully check it to see if it appears to be complete, and then weigh it for even more certainty, and then check the 'patient' over the next few hours/days to really confirm. This book covered all of that correctly, and even provided tables such that you'd know what it's *supposed* to weigh, and an illustration to show how to check the membrane for completeness. The next section was on how to tell if pieces had been retained - and then how to remove them in the absence of a real doctor/hospital. There was a point at which I saw the disappointing "if X is happening, see a doctor immediately." But then next to that was a page number. Flipping to that page, I saw "if there is no doctor, follow these steps." Simple instructions, illustrations, courses of treatments. A+ instructions. I could reasonably see someone who had no knowledge whatsoever of some of the techniques being able to figure it out using this book.
There are also sections on common, useful drugs, as well as little 'cheat sheets' on each one (and a simplistic, scaled down Material Safety Data Sheets) and details on how to give different types of injections. Again, complete with useful illustrations. There are even brief sections on psychological problems and crisis counselling. There are color-coded indices.
I am really impressed. If you don't have one of these, I highly recommend you get one. It's no substitute for real medical care, but I think it's an extremely useful reference, and would be good to have for any non-Monday-through-Friday-9-to-5 health questions.
Wonderful Update of the Where there is No Doctor Series.......1999-07-12
I thought this book was wonderful because it not only addresses women's health in the reproductive realm but it also addresses the realities of women's health in developing countries: injuries due to overwork, too many children, violence, malnutrition, and also addresses mental illnesses. It also has a great section on FGM, AIDS, Sexual Violence, and Commerical Sex Workers. It integrates gender issues with traditional women's health concerns. I am dying to know when it is coming out in Spanish so I can take it down to Guatemala with me.
Book Description
It doesn't take a degree in medicine to appreciate New Yorker cartoonist Danny Shanahan's new book of more than 120 doctor cartoons, so put up your (hospital-issued) stocking feet and prepare yourself for a healthy dose of humor. From contemptible cafeteria food to major medical mishaps, laissez-faire doctors to crazy psychiatrists, Shanahan's characters will leave you feeling healthier, wealthier (minus the doctor's bill, of course), if not wiser.
I'm No Quack will have you in stitches, from a nutcracker telling his patient while performing a prostate exam, "Turn your head and scream," to a doctor with New York City seated on the examining table, "I'm going to prescribe something to help you sleep," to a practitioner comforting a frightened spouse, "You can rest assured, Mrs. Wilson, that your husband will receive the best care known to medical coverage." Shanahan's madcap humor and colorful characters are the perfect remedy for your funny bone.

Bond. James, Bond........2006-11-22
Bond. James Bond. This book is an instant classic. This is exactly how Ian Fleming created it. In this book, James must deal with saboteurs, women, and international conspiracy. As a three part book, this novel requires a decent chunk of time to complete, but is worth every minute! It includes the classic stories: From Russia with Love (in which James must escape from Russia with a dangerous Russian organization desperate to prevent him from ever escaping alive), Doctor No (A man with robotic hands is plotting something against the United States. Can James stop him, and escape his deadly obstacle course with his life still intact?), and Goldfinger (Someone is smuggling gold out of banks, and may be connected with Bond's long-time friends in Russia. Can James uncover this plot? And is something even bigger at stake?) As a long time fan of James, I highly recommend this book. Some scenes are quite descriptive as of Bond's relationship with the women he sleeps with, s this book is mostly suited to anyone over the age of 14.
The three greatest 007 novels in one volume!.......2002-04-06
This great collection of Ian Fleming's three James Bond thriller novels, From Russia, With Love, Doctor No, and Goldfinger is the best deal anywhere if you're looking for cheap classics. Even though it's not avaliable anymore, ... so if you get an oppurtunity buy it instantly.
From Russia, With Love is about a Soviet conspiracy involving a code machine called the Spektor, a lovely Russian female named Tatiania Romanova, and a professional killer who is affected by the moon. The girl sends for Bond, pledging her love and at the same time luring him into a trap that would seriously damage the Service's image. Great read and the best Cold War thriller out there.
In Doctor No, James Bond is sent to investigate two agents who have disappeared in Jamaica. He soon discovers the clues linking him to Doctor No, a Chinese/German doctor who has an island base in Jamaica, where he disrupts U.S. missile firing. James endures through his toughest physcial test of his career, and some consider Dr. No to be the best 007 novel ever written.
Goldfinger is in my opinion the best 007 novel of all. While investigating a cheat at cards by the name of Auric Goldfinger, James is informed that he is also involved in smuggling Great Britain's gold reserves to India, where the Russians wait for it. As James is captured, he discovers Goldfinger's master plan--to raid Fort Knox itself! With the smartest villian, the toughest henchman, and the most thrilling climax of all the James Bonds, Goldfinger is the by far the best masterpiece ever to come from the desk of Ian Fleming.
This wonderful trilogy is an enthralling epic of the Cold War, and I recommend it to anyone who has either read Ian Fleming before, or is thinking of starting very soon.
Better the the movies.......2000-02-09
This is a great book, and after reading this I watched all the movies again, and they can't even compare. If you enjoy James Bnd you will enoy this, I mean I am only eleven and I couldn't tare my eyes away. I enjoyed the action, suspense, romance, and even the detail, Iam Flemming is truly a master writer, and can only portay James Bond. The movies are nothing comapred to this, this is a must get.
Great collection...but with a correction.......1999-12-29
These three books together are, in some ways, the epitome of James Bond. However, I must correct one of the reviews. These books *are* sequential. These books are 5, 6, and 7 in the order that Fleming published them. The 8th was The Spy Who Loved Me and the 9th was Thunderball, the first book in the Blofeld trilogy. Aside from the 10th book, For Your Eyes Only (a collection of short stories), the story picks up in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and ends with You Only Live Twice. These three Blofeld books are available in the James Bond Omnibus, volume 2.
Excellent storytelling.......1999-12-22
I am a fan of the James Bond movies but the recent ones have let me down. So instead of giving up on Bond, I have taken to reading the stories and they are far better than I had imagined. Almost every one is better then the film that it spawned. Ian Fleming's Bond is far superior to the Bond that Hollywood is sticking us with. Bond does not spout off one liners, shoot everything in sight, or have an obligatory load up on spy gadgets scene in Ian Fleming's books. This book is just great.
Book Description
"Where There is No Vet" is more than just a book on first aid for animals. It aims to help people keep their animals healthy. It covers a wide range of topics that affect the health of livestock, from diarrhea to rinderpest, from helpful traditional remedies to the uses of modern medicines and vaccines. It includes advice on the care, feeding and handling of animals. By describing the signs of disease to look for, it helps readers to work out what is wrong with an animal and then tells them what to do about it. Special emphasis is placed on preventing and controlling diseases and problems. The book covers routine treatments, assisting births and dealing with emergencies and simple operations. Not only does it help readers realize what they can do for their own animals, it also helps them recognize which problems need assistance from experienced vets or skilled workers.
The book deals with cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys and camels. It also describes some important problems of dogs, rabbits and poultry.
The book is essential for anyone who keeps animals and for people who help advise or teach others who keep animals:
· The farmer who lives far from a vet. It explains in simple words and drawings what can be done to prevent, recognize, and treat many common sicknesses.
· The teacher in a rural school. The book gives guidelines for teaching other people about animal health and will be useful in the teaching of agricultural science.
· The NGO worker or agricultural extension worker who advises farmers on how to look after animals.
· The vet assistant or other skilled worker who advises others on how to look after their animals. The book explains which medicines or treatments are most useful for specific sicknesses and warns against any which are useless or dangerous. Published by Oxfam in association with Macmillan and CTA.

Excellent Book.......2007-01-13
This is a very well written book, focusing on mainly tropical diseases and infections of livestock, and pets (dogs, cats, rabbits). It is written easily enough to understand and follow, and to use as a tool to teach owners. For someone with little access to veterinary care, this is an excellent resource to have around.

It's not evil, it's just pretty boring.......2000-12-02
Giving Sarah a lift from Loch Ness to London, the TARDIS picks up a distress signal and the Doctor lands the ship on Zeta Minor, a planet on the very edge of the universe. On this planet, an expedition seeking a new energy source has lost all but one of its members.
However, when the Morestran Empire rescue expedition arrives, the Doctor and Sarah are prime suspects as the mysterious killers. But the planet has a very large secret, one which threatens the whole universe...
'The Planet of Evil' is one of those Doctor Who serials that so many people seem to love, but which leaves me cold (perhaps not a surprise, as it was written by Louis Marks, who also wrote 'Inferno', which falls into the same category. Novelisation hasn't greatly improved the story in my eyes, and deprives us of the wonderful Zeta Minor jungle set.
If you like 'Inferno', you'll probably like this one far more than me.
