Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Master storyteller Howard Pyle at his best, incorporating fascinating historical information about life in a medieval castle, knighthood, and chivalry into the fast-moving and entertaining story of young Myles Falworth's fight to restore his family's rights and good name.
Download Description
The year 1400 opened with more than usual peacefulness in England. Only a few months before, Richard II - weak, wicked, and treacherous - had been dethroned, and Henry IV declared King in his stead. But it was only a seeming peacefulness, lasting but for a little while; for though King Henry proved himself a just and a merciful man - as justice and mercy went with the men of iron of those days - and though he did not care to shed blood needlessly, there were many noble families who had been benefited by King Richard during his reign, and who had lost somewhat of their power and prestige from the coming in of the new King.

I would not sell my dog-eared childhood copy of this book for a million bucks.......2007-08-15
I probably read this book one hundred times throughout my preteen & teenage years. It resonates primarily within the imagination of young men.
My adoration of this book may explain why I travel the modern streets of Detroit on horseback carrying a lance. Insanity is a another explanation.
You early teens son/brother/nephew/etc will love this book. It ignites imagination.
A GREAT BOOK.......2006-12-20
this is a great book!Howard Pyle is now my favorite auther because i read The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood and Men of Iron. Both books are great.this book takes place in midevil times.Myles Falworth is a young boy that is sent to be a page for the Earl of Mackworth.he has many adventures there and goes on to be a knight. I will say no more or else I will spoil it if you read it.THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!!
Medieval chivalry.......2006-06-16
This was an excellent book about a youth named Myles Falworth, the son of a wrongfully exiled blind Lord. The book is about Myles quest to restore his family's honor and safety. It follows well the customs of medieval England, emphasizing bravery and honor, courage and mercy. It is an inspiring tale, and few young readers would not be able to learn a thing or two about life from Myles.
I have to dissent, however, from a previous reviewer who said that this was Pyle's best book. While this was a great book, I far preferred his Adventures of Robin Hood and His Merry Men, and also his Arthurian books. This book lacks much of the old english (or at least Pyle's rendition of it) which his other books have, and I greatly missed it. Also, there were less of his splendid drawing in this book than in his others. I highly recommend checking into his other books if you liked this on.
Overall grade: A
Excellent Book!!.......2006-05-04
My children, ages 14, 10, and 8 really enjoyed this book. The main character,Myles, gets into all kinds of mischief. He makes the book fun. We used this book at the end of a homeschool Middle Ages unit study. I wish we would have used it in the beginning. This book, in my opinion, is the best by Howard Pyle.
Men of Iron- A story of knighthood and adventure.......2006-03-09
Men of Iron, by Howard Pyle, is the story of a young man of the early 1400's in England, whose character develops as he trains to become a knight. He shows that he is willing to make sacrifices for his principles of right and wrong and dedicates himself to regaining his father's good reputation. He also illustrates his religious character and trust in God. The hero in Men of Iron by Howard Pyle proves that a willingness to sacrifice and stand up for what is right will result in happiness.
Myles Falworth was willing to make great sacrifices for his personal principles of right and wrong. He was willing to fight Walter Blunt, the boy in charge of everyone, on behalf of all the other squires and esquires so they would not be made slaves anymore. He fought the Earl of Alban to redeem his father because he thought fighting him was the right thing to do. He sacrificed some of his money to buy his friend, Gascoyne, a knife.
Myles dedicated himself, through great personal sacrifice, to regaining his father's good reputation. He did this by becoming a knight. As a knight, he redeemed his father by challenging the Earl of Alban, William Bushy Brookhurst, and by winning the fight. These sacrifices were necessary to regain the good reputation of his father, Lord Falworth.
After Myles became a knight, he illustrated his religious character and trust in God. After he was knighted, he started to pray ore and he also attended daily chapel. He started to rely on God to help him win his battles. His reliance on God is what helped him through many of his hardships.
Men of Iron, by Howard Pyle, illustrates the character development of young Myles Falworth in England's fifteenth-century culture. His character develops from his principles, his dedication, and his closeness to God. This is a good book about a boy who becomes a knight to avenge his father for the wrongs committed against him.

Book Description
The text, with few departures, is that of the First Quarto (1598) edition of the play. Act and scene divisions are not indicated in the Quarto; those of the First Folio have been incorporated, with one exception: scene ii of Act V has been divided into two scenes, with the concluding scenes numbered accordingly. The Third Edition includes expanded annotations. "Contexts and Sources"includes dueling arguments on the play's completeness (one play or one half of a play?) and the naming of a central character (Falstaff or Oldcastle?). "Criticism" includes twenty-four essaysfrom E. M. W. Tillyard's classic argument of an ordered Shakespearean universe to Graham Holderness's rebuttal to Gus Van Sant's interview regarding 1 Henry IV as the inspiration for his cult film, My Own Private Idahonineteen of them new to the Third Edition. The Selected Bibliography has been thoroughly updated.

Book Description
David Scott Kastan lucidly explores the remarkable richness and the ambitious design of King Henry IV Part 1 and shows how these complicate any easy sense of what kind of play it is. Conventionally regarded as a history play, much of it is in fact conspicuously invented fiction, and Kastan argues that the non-historical, comic plot does not simply parody the historical action but by its existence raises questions about the very nature of history. The full and engaging introduction devotes extensive discussion to the play's language, indicating how its insistent economic vocabulary provides texture for the social concerns of the play and focuses attention on the central relationship between value and political authority.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent version of a great play.......2007-09-03
The play needs no commentary by me. This edition is impressive. This is the first Arden Third Series play I've read, and I find it better overall than any other commented version I've used. I bought the Arden Second Series of Henry IV, Part 2, because we're going to both plays this weekend, and the Third Series is not out yet. I was surprised how much better the Third Series is. The typography and layout make it easier to read than any other footnoted edition I've read. The notes are on the same page as the text, where they are easy to refer to, but they are in a smaller font size and in two columns, which differentiates them from the text and makes them less distracting. The headings of the notes are bold, rather than italic, which makes them quicker to locate. The text notes, of interest only to specialists, are in an even smaller font and have been moved to the bottom of the page. The result is that the extensive notes are readily accessible when I need them, yet minimally distracting when I don't.
The Introduction is long, but interesting and helpful. Being no expert, I don't judge this editor's views and choices against those of others, but his reasoning is plausible and his approach seems down-to-earth, giving what seems like appropriate weight to the commercial motives and dynamic nature of dramas.
The notes explain more than some readers need, but that's better than explaining too little for newcomers to Shakespeare.
The illustrations are interesting, and some are helpful. The map of places mentioned and the genealogies should be in every edition. The List of Roles is followed by two pages of notes about the characters. This is very helpful in keeping track of the characters, which is much harder to do when reading than when watching actors play the roles.
A cavil: I like the old-fashioned way of dealing with words ending in -ed, showing in the text when the e is stressed or elided. In this version, "unfamiliar typographic conventions have been avoided in order to minimize obstacles to the reader," and pronunciations are shown in the notes if they differ from modern usage. For me, this is more awkward than the old way, with the -'d or -èd right in the text.
The making of a king (sort of).......2006-08-16
Following the plot of "Richard II", this play finds the usurper Bolingbroke, now King Henry IV, surrounded by enemies. In the beginning, Henry IV has a facedown with his former allies, Northumberland, Worcester and Hotspurs. They even regret having helped Bolingbroke to the throne. So, instead of going ahead with the king's plans for a new Crusade in the Middle East, Henry and his remaining allies have to face civil war. Due to the illegal way in which he acquired the crown, Henry feels insecure in the throne. Moreover, he has an other poignant source of worries: his eldest son and heir, Prince Hal, is not exactly a model of a young man. Instead of showing an interest in State affairs, he spends his time with a band of friends, led by the ineffable and immensely comic Sir John Falstaff. These rogues drink and womanize too much, but that wouldn't be much of a problem if they didn't assault travellers and commit other sort of criminal activities. King Henry IV scolds Hal for this behavior just when they have a war going on. Hal decides to mend his ways and join his father. Meanwhile, Falstaff is in charge of getting new recruits, but the quality of the latter suffers much when the fat rogue takes bribes from the best in order to escape service. Finally, Henry's party achieves an important (though not definitive) victory and Hal gains his father's respect, among other things, by saving him from a wound. But as they say, stay tuned, for this story continues in the second part.
Note that the major character in this and the next play is Falstaff himself, a man of undoubtedly bad behavior, but impossible not to like. Falstaff incarnates the Dyonisiac impulse, the joys of the flesh, and a free spirit devoid of any lust for power or glory. While the warrior Hotspur uplifts death and glory, Falstaff asks for more life. For his part, Hal has discovered the adrenaline of war and power and his character is about to change.
the best.......2003-10-31
Ardens are the best editions; this is the best of the new generation of Ardens--and it is a great play.
a wonderful edition.......2003-10-10
If you want a scholarly edition of the play, this is the one: the introduction is an extended and brilliant essay on the play; the text is clearly presented, and the commentary full and useful; and the book itself is attractive and easy to use. It is perfect for teachers, grad. students, advanced undergraduates, and actors and directors involved with the play.

Arden's are always wonderful but the Henry IV was almost 50 years old--at last there is a new edition and it was actually worth the wait! This is one of the best editions of any Shakespeare play I have ever seen. A must for any high school or college library. A must for any lover of Shakespeare.

Prince Hal and Falstaff part their ways.......2006-08-16
In the second part of this drama, the main thread is the evolution of Prince Hal, future Henry V, from a young, irresponsible, and party-animal lad into a real monarch. Please note that, from the author's persepctive (and most likely yours) this is not any good, since it leads to the inevitable estrangement between the former comrades Hal and Sir John Falstaff, the leader of Hal's group of troublesome (and even criminal) friends. This develpoment will eventually hurt Falstaff very much, for he has come to see Hal as the son he never had. Little by little, Hal shows his true colors: like many heirs of power, he becomes cruel, cold, ambitious and mean. He marches away from his joyful past and starts to assume the reins of power. He has become a politician and a warrior. In the meantime, Henry IV's strength has greatly diminished from so many worries and fighting. Hal helps him defeat their enemies and in the end the King dies and Hal becomes Henry V. In the painful final scene, Falstaff greets the new monarch, only to receive an order of imprisonment from his former friend.
Just as in Part I, here the main character is Falstaff. The fat Sir displays all his power of enchantment over the reader, by way of his infinite jest, wit and cynicism. He surges over the other characters as the greast transgressor, the great Dyonisian spirit, full of vitality and assuredness.
Shakespeare's most salient features shine here as in the rest of his work: the fact that the characters change during the plays gives them a lot of literary power.

Anyone who discredits this book has not read it, understood it, or is jewish.......2007-10-01
The greatest book any Gentile (non-jew meaning 'cattle') will ever read! It shows how the jews created liberalism purposely to destroy Western society. Also shows how they push materialism, how they made labor and business fight each other, how they control the media, and what they think about all us 'Gentiles.' A lot of what Ford and the editors of The Dearborn Independent wrote here about the Jewish World Program has come true in the most shocking ways.
Some excerpts from the book:
"As any movement of world revolution must be, this Jewish World Program is primarily anti-Anglo-Saxon (anti-white)."
"The Gentiles are like a flock of sheep. They will close their eyes to everything because we will promise them to return all the liberties taken away, after the enemies of peace have been subjugated and all the parties pacified." Protocol 11
"To prevent them from really thinking out anything themselves, we shall deflect their attention to amusements, games, pastimes, excitements and people's palaces." Protocol 13
"When we introduced the poison of liberalism into the government organism, its entire political complexion changed." Protocol 10
"Having in this way inspired everybody with the thought of his own importance, we will break down the influence of family life among the Gentiles, and its educational importance." Protocol 10
"Note the successes we have arranged in Darwinism, Marxism, and Nietzscheism. The demoralizing effect of these doctrines upon the minds of the Gentiles should be evident at least to us." Protocol 2
"We have misled, stupefied and demoralized the youth of the Gentiles by means of education in principles and theories, patently false to us, but which we have inspired." Protocol 9.
"Consequently it is only a question of time when the complete crash of the Christian religion will occur. It will be easier to handle the other religions, but it is too early to discuss this phase of the subject." Protocol 17
...and those are just a few. There's no way that anyone can read this book objectively and deny that all these things are currently taking place. Henry Ford was WAY AHEAD of his time.
If you only read one book in this lifetime make it this one.
Great Work of hysteria.......2007-08-29
I find it almost amusing that the other so-called reviews of this book try to present "The International Jew" as a neutral work of non-fiction about a "problem". One only need to know that Adolf Hitler himself read this publication and reacted in a positive way. Also this book is a must read at almost all the White power and anti-semitic websites. This work has been marginilized for a reason, it is inflamatory hate speech masked as an elaborate treatise. If Mr. Ford was so worried about power and influence in politics and our society, then why did he almost single-handidly influence Washington to abort public transportation in favor of building more roads and highways? Hmmmm, could it be he wanted the use of his polluting automobile to spread and make him rich? One wonders where we would be today with Global warming if MR. Ford had not been so self-centered. His agenda was to destroy the more practical and environmentally friendly railroads and trolley cars, and he used money, power and influence to achieve this. I find it interesting that a mega-succesful entrepeneur would suggest that a religion presents a unified problem at an international level, and that the Jew himself brought his bad treatment upon himself. One only need to do some light research to see the roots of Jewish business goes back to the early days of the Catholic church and christianity when they banned Jews from university, land ownership and just about every business possible, except money lending-The church could not bear to deal in such things. Then when it became apparent that this was a profitable enterprise, the organized christian community pointed a finger at the "horrible" money-lending Jew. Which gave rise to the Inquisition, Progroms, Etc... This book is an excellent example of the type of cloaked propoganda which is written about many minorities. Anti-Jewish bias is as old as the Bible and unfortunately it will not go away, (unless of course the Jews go away). So if you already suspect Jews are different and in concert, then by all means you should read this work of fiction so you can further develop your bias and mistrust.
Anti-semitism is alive & well?.......2007-08-16
This book is available on Amazon for educational purposes? Right. One only need read the antisemitic drivel in the book and then read the reviews to see that it was offered to appeal to the anti-semites among us. It was long ago dismissed as the trash which it is by knowledgible readers. I was going to say that next you will offer " The Protocols", but then I notice you already do. You can even get a package deal. Why don't you offer a complete library for the anti-semite and call it the Gerald L. K. Smith Memorial special? PS; I gave the book 1 star only because there were no negative numbers available.
Essential if Difficult Reading.......2007-07-20
This is one of those books that is almost literally too hot to handle, except that it's not, really. Henry Ford has a peculiar place in the pantheon of American historical figures--he invented the modern assembly line and thus helped to popularize the automobile by making it affordable to the masses.
Around 1920 he published a series of articles on the subject of what he called "the international Jew", around which time he was quoted as saying that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion seemed to "match what was going on". One need not imagine the outcry--it continues to this day.
The question is--is the book worth reading? My answer has to be an emphatic yes. Wherever you stand on this issue, it is an essential work that must be considered in any study of so-called anti-semitism and its roots in America (as opposed to its much more complex and older roots in Europe.)
Having always thought of Henry Ford as the father of the automobile and not as a writer on world affairs it is interesting to say the least to read his thoughts on the so-caled "Jewish Question". Contrary to what we are led to believe by those who would prefer this book be burned rather than read, even critically, it is not in the form of a hateful screed (a trend I'm discovering is true of much allegedly "hateful anti-semitic" literature.)
Ford could hardly have provided modern historians with a better account of just what this "Jewish Question" was that so concerned him and others who have been unfairly labelled by history as simple "jew-haters". In his writing he is very much aware of the accusations (same then as now) that any interest in the study of Jewish group solidarity and power (both political and economic) must need be motivated by jealousy or historic-religious bigotry. In this we can all sympathize who have to contend with the gratuitous "anti-semite" smear when we do as little as take issue with the actions of AIPAC.
One problem no doubt stems from Ford's reliance on the Protocols that we are assured time and again are forgeries. Ford makes an excellent point however that whether forged or not they describe in some detail things that, from his vantage point between WWI and WW2, seem almost prophetic given their appearance as early as 1905 (they are nonetheless alleged to have been written in 1897 or thereabouts, speculated by many to have been authored by Theodore Herzl, the father of modern Zionism, with no evidence.)
While to the modern and enlightened reader much of Ford's writing will smell, if not actually read as quite possibly anti-jewish, perhaps most unfortunate is Ford's clear belief that the question of Jewish power in the world (i.e. independent of the states in which they reside) is of interest primarily to the dominant anglo-saxon racial majority in America whom are most threatened by what he sees as the Jews' much more developed sense of in-group identification and solidarity.
The modern and enlightened reader benefits of course from a more balanced approach to the issue of racial and ethnic conflict than possessed by Ford, who doubtless had much fewer problems with his "own people"'s subjugation of the native Americans than he has with what he sees as the subjugation of "his" people by a group better equipped than his to function in the emerging globalized world of his time.
What should be stressed here is that without understanding the representative points of view of the likes of Ford and, for that matter, Lindbergh, one can scarcely hope to evaluate with precision the claims of those who seem all too willing to cry "JOO-HATER!!" when even the smallest, most legitimate criticism of either Zionism, the state of Israel, or yes, even power brokers who happen to be Jewish, is raised.
Zionism .......2007-03-14
the same person writes different comments 3 days apart, no that is not obvious.
hello zionist
do you think people won't recognize what is going on?? the end of zionism is near and people in particular in Europe and USA,Canada can decide what is really happening!!

Outstanding teaching resource.......2000-05-16
I found this book to be useful in getting across the ideas in Hamlet and Henry IV. The activities are directly related to understanding the text. Instructions are written out to the letter, and a number of outside resources are suggested. This has been one of the most useful aid I have used in teaching either play. The ideas are clear and inventive. My students responded positively to the activities that I used from this book and came away with a clear understanding of plot, characterization, and language.
The only negative comment I have is O'Brien can get a little flighty once and awhile. In truth, however, she gets to and stays with the point better in this book than in any of her others. I find myself going back to this text to supplement her others. She stretches a bit too far into the artistic than my taste allows, and I don't feel that she goes into enough detail in some parts of Hamlet, but these are things that are easily supplemented. Nevertheless, this book sets up the premise for teaching in a very effective way.
Once again, this is learning through movement and acting. No wallflowers or shrinking violets allowed.
A very good teaching resource........1999-02-17
I found in teaching Shakespeare that this book was very valuable. It allows the teacher to combine both drama and literature into one lesson. Students have a remarkable response to its techniques. They seem more interested and have longer retention of the material. The variety of exercises that are written out for you appeal to a number different kinds of learners; especially my resource students. I find the book a valuable aid either as supplemental material, or as a lesson planner in-and-of itself.

The Glory of Living: A Play
ASIN: 0802141943 |
Book Description
In this meeting of two of the twentieth century's greatest playwrights, Tom Stoppard has reinvigorated Luigi Pirandello's masterpiece of madness and sanity. After a fall from his horse, an Italian aristocrat believes he is the obscure medieval German emperor Henry IV. After twenty years of living this royal illusion, his beloved appears with a noted psychiatrist to shock the madman back to sanity. Their efforts expose that for the past twelve years the nobleman has in fact been sane. With his mask of madness removed, the aristocrat launches an offensive to deflect their unwanted attention. While Pirandello's characters race linguistically about in Stoppardian dervishes, battling for the upper hand-and the greatest laughs-one question emerges: What constitutes sanity?
