Book Description
Roz is a woman of independent means who thinks love is all in the past-but she's about to be taken by surprise.
Number-one bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the second novel of her In the Garden trilogy, as three women discover the secrets from the past contained within their historic home.
Customer Reviews:
Very Good.......2007-08-06
Another of Nora's books that grabs you within the first 10 pages, but this book is a little slower than the Blue Dahlia.
Trilogy.......2007-07-19
This was a very good trilogy. It will keep you interested to the last page!
fantastic.......2007-04-12
All three books in the trilogy will go on my keeper shelf forever. I love books that are connected through women who become close friends.
Saving Graces is another favorite of mine, although there all three heroines get their stories within one book. The Saving Graces: A Novel
And I just started a new 4 book mini series that feature 4 women who are thrown together in adversity and end up friends as they fight for their lives. Secret Contract (Harlequin Intrigue Series)
The best of Nora Roberts.......2007-02-15
This is my favorite Nora Roberts book. I am an avid gardener, so the setting of the garden center, and details of the business was an added bonus. The characters in all her books seem real, but never more than in the In The Garden series. I love the balance of personalities, and their wonderful interaction. I felt as if I knew these people! When I started reading Black Rose it was like visiting old friends. Black Rose is my favorite, I think, because it is centered on Roz. She is such a strong woman, but does not let her strength take away from her warmth and femininity. I usually pass on my paperbacks to the library, but will not give away the In The Garden series. I have read them several times and enjoyed them each time!
Great read.......2007-02-09
Nora Roberts has done it again. The way she brings characters to life is enchanting. I loved reading this part of the trilogy and following the lives of the women involved. I especially loved the plot line of the Harper Bride. Needless to say, the gardens were an intricate part of this book and their descriptions were just lovely.

Lots of Action.......2007-07-19
A former high school teacher of chemistry and physics, Karen lives in Florida with her husband of twenty years and their children. When she's not writing, Karen enjoys traveling, karate (she's just starting!), She now has several books behind her and this one is the latest of them.
As one or two of the other reviewers have said I too could have lived without the romance aspect of the book but overall it is well written and holds the readers attention pretty much throughout the book. It is certainly an enjoyable read, not the best book I have ever read, but certainly worth reading. There are gripping and exciting episodes in the book that more than compensate for the romantic overtures.
Riveting...start to finish.......2007-06-09
I was hooked from the first page. The plot was quick moving, action packed and completely real (almost too real). The suspense flowed from one scene to the next, to the next, to the next without letting up. The characters are so real I felt I knew them. I absolutley loved this book.
Now I have to go back and read the rest of them! Yeah!!!!
Another HOMERUN for MS Rose!!.......2007-05-24
I first discovered Karen Rose while doing an online search for mystery novels. After reading several excerpts from her books I immediately ordered everything she had in print. I read them in the order they were published, and never had one moments disappointment. Sadly though, I had to wait several months before "Count to Ten" was published! What a bummer!! Well, it's finally been published and I've finally gotten my 'Rose" fix, and am happy again. Ok...so I have to wait until the fall for the next book, it will be difficult but I'll do my best.
Without going into plots and storylines, let me just say...the characters are believable, the storylines are believable and filled with suspense, and while thought provoking, NOT mindboggling. You will not get "lost" in the story (no matter which novel you choose).
If you've never read Rose...I strongly recommend you do so, as soon as possible.
Excellent mystery.......2007-05-06
Loaded with suspense. Great mystery. Kept your attention throughout. I am a Karen Rose fam, and this did not disappoint.
A Sizzling Read!.......2007-05-05
I picked up Karen Rose's 'Count to Ten' after noticing that someone who had bought my novel Divine Intervention also bought Count to Ten. :) Karen Rose is a new author for me and I thought I should check her out since she's also writing about a deadly arsonist. I was hoping it would keep me up all night, maybe give me nightmares. And I wasn't disappointed.
Since recent posts here go into plot and I don't want to rehash it, I'll say that Rose's characters ring true. They are multi-dimensional in humor and spirit. The relationships between the characters will sometimes frustrate, but will definitely make you remember them.
I have to give this 5/5 stars. Count to Ten is a fast read, a great read for the car or a trip...and a great escape. The scenes are vivid and gruesome; the romance sizzles! And the main protagonist Mia Mitchell is admirable. Very reminiscent of Kay Hooper's series!
Now I'll have to go back and read the preceding novels. Thanks, Karen! :)

Book Description
Adult Ed has an entirely new meaning, thanks to this first-of-its-kind guide to bondage in consensual relationships. This book corrects many misconceptions about bondage, educating readers and giving them the tools needed to explore their desires using restraint and rope bondage. This type of erotic play requires trust between two people and can be a wonderful way to bond with a partner. Chanta crushes the misconception that bondage is violent or dangerous and explains How to approach your partner in non-threatening way about your kinky desires Professional, step-by-step instruction Graphic, full-color photography With a few simple knots and some well-thought-out positions and guidance, you and your partner will be able to experience this taboo form of love making.
Customer Reviews:
Not just a picture book...........2007-10-09
Although the photography is simply gorgeous, you do have to actually read the book. Chanta explains all the knot tieing in the beginning of the book which you have to practice if you want to get any the positions right. If you can't figure out a knot, go back to where she explains it. simple as that.
Positions are hot! Useful! Playful! Fun! Just go for it and awaken your inner naughtyness.
p.s. I love that there isn't any psycho babble about bondage and people who partake like in Midori's books, just sex, more sex, and great sex.
Don't waste your money.......2007-05-18
Although the photography is visually appealing and the tone of the author sincere and light-hearted, as an educational text this book is basically worthless. If you want to look at interesting pictures for nifty bondage ideas, you might find value here. But if you want to have an idea of how to actually rig any of these positions, look elsewhere. The photos repeatedly skip steps, are utterly confusing, and are scarcely illustrative of actual rope tying and knotwork. I'm returning my copy immediately.
Knotty Review with Hiaku.......2007-02-25
Chanta Rose joins the growing list of authors on bondage how-to's with an impeccable background derived from her many years of modelling, directing, rigging and teaching. Arguably, her book will set a new standard for introduction and presentation of one of the most sensuous activities shared between consenting adults. Her prologue and introduction at the beginning is a treasure trove of insight and understanding of her bondage psyche and personality. Focused on the most single intimate aspect with an intimate awareness born of her own personal experiences, Chanta Rose presents the techniques and variations of bondage sex that will enhance anyone's appreciation and application.

A Must Have.......2007-01-10
Chanta Rose has written a excellent book for novices as well as beginners, great pictures with instructions on how to tie the knots (the few that are needed) as well as some very good positions. A real must have for bondage lovers.

Customer Reviews:
Great Book! .......2007-09-30
I've only read the first couple of chapters so far and I'm very impressed. I'm so happy there is a book out there that helps me realize I'm not the only one who feels this way. Can't wait to read more.
Helpful - Over and over again!.......2007-08-01
A casual friend of mine recommended this book to me as I was ending a 25+ year marriage. It was very helpful in understanding some of the whys - and what to do about them in order to move forward.
Interestingly enough, my casual friend and I became a couple shortly thereafter but broke up very recently. Even though this relationship was much more short-lived (
<1 year) than the marriage, the emotional stress on me was much more devastating (probably because I "saw" the issues in the marriage while I did not see any in the recent relationship).
I am re-reading this book to get the perspective from the end of this short-term relationship and it has been very helpful once again.
On the downside, I do agree with some of the others that seems like some of the basic premise is that there are really no lifelong relationships and we can all expect all of our relationships to break down over time. Not a happy thought, but perhaps sobering.
Interesting Book.......2007-07-29
This book opened my eyes and helped me to understand why my marriage fell apart. I highly recommend for people who are already separated and/or on the verge of divorce.
Great book.......2007-07-03
I bought this book after the ending of my 8 year marriage. It took me through all the phases of what was going on. It was the best book for me to get through it. A heck of a lot cheaper than counseling! I lent my copy out and never got it back!
Excellent aid for navigating a break-up.......2007-05-15
Kingma does a wonderful job of explaining the "why" behind break-ups--both why they happen and why they are so hard for us to get through. I would recommend this book to anyone going through a break-up.

Philip Miller and Molly Devon think that S/M is fun, and "that reading about it should be fun, too." Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns is definitely fun, not to mention approachable, chatty, and insightful. What makes it truly special, however, is the sheer weight of loving details. There's clear explanations and detailed tutorials for beginners, as general as "safe, sane, and consensual" and as specific as "you will be swinging the whip with your arm pivoting at the shoulder." There's also solid advice, safety measures, steamy suggestions, plenty of black-and-white photographs, useful and humorous drawings, an extensive glossary, and over 900 entries of S/M clothing and equipment vendors, publications, computer bulletin boards, and organizations worldwide. As sadomasochism is a practice that's still taboo for many people, the chapter on finding partners and sharing your fantasies with existing partners can be invaluable.
Screw the Roses enthusiastically covers all the basics and even some of the not-so-basics--bondage, negotiation, sex, endorphins, dominance and submission, toys, safety, S/M community, and beyond. It's written primarily from the point of view of male dominant/female submissive interactions, but it's easily translatable into valuable advice for any relationship configuration. Miller and Devon's explanations of not just the how, but also the why, of sadomasochism are honest, sexy, funny--and a must-have for anyone who wants to learn about sadism, masochism, dominance, submission, or bondage. --Cheryl Trooskin
Customer Reviews:
Quirky, funny how-to book.......2007-09-08
Thank goodness this book was written! The style is quirky and funny, the subject Submission and Domination. Written by a loving couple with loving couples in mind, it does touch (sometimes roughly!) on game play, the joy of surrender and yearning, the 'chess game' mental anticipation of s/m. It ain't all leather and lace, it is a lifestyle choice. the authors cover the safe use of ropes, toys, restraints and pain as a form of sexual sport s/m rarely gets. Good s/m takes HOURS and this book describes the process and results with good cheer and truthfull expertise. The photos are informational and often passionless, but some will open many eyes and conversations.
Informitive.......2007-08-18
This book was recomended to me over and over. It is a very good reference.
Screw the Roses book.......2007-08-14
This is a very good book with great ideas, and suggestions for those of us that are starting to swim in deeper water. I have read other books on the subject, and this one surpasses all of them. The ideas are presented from both the male, and female side. I truly recommend this book.
Great introduction to the world of D/s and BDSM.......2007-08-14
A good overall guide to the alternative lifestyle. Miller & Devon especially do a great job of familiarizing the reader with the various interests within the community as well as introducing the full gamut of variations available to D/s and BDSM enthusiasts, and they provide a clear and non-threatening exposition of the "safe, sane and consensual" approach to erotic sensation play and D/s relationships. Bravo!
Wonderful resource.......2007-01-09
A great resource for the beginner into BDSM. It helps to explain a lot of the feelings and ideas that go into what makes BDSM so real. It takes it from a bedroom kink and puts it into a real lifestyle. A must read for those who are curious about alternative lifestyles.

Customer Reviews:
Good Suspense Book (3 1/2).......2007-10-10
This book did not have the intensity that "Die for Me" had, but it was good. The main characters (Tess and Aidan) were okay. There were a few things that were repeated in the book, a few slow areas, and added twists/events that were probably included to spruce up the book.
I recommend this author's "Die for Me." It was INTENSE and a wonderful read!
Three words... A... Ma.... Zing.... (yes I know it's one word...it's a joke!).......2007-10-04
I can't say enough good things about this book. Karen Rose is masterful at telling a story, bringing her characters to life and leaving nothing to chance... period. This story is gripping and very easy to follow. It's entertaining and flows like water. Or maybe like a river of blood!!!!
This is a taut thriller with Tess at the center of a mystery bigger than life and death. Why are her patients dying?
Karen Rose is new to me, but she is here to stay. She is a writer with a HUGE future still ahead of her... even after the monster success she's already enjoyed. I can't wait to read more of her work!
Not my favorite, but a fun read.......2007-03-27
At times a little repetitive, a little slow, sometimes a little cliche...but the mystery behind all those deaths and the complex serial killer Karen Rose gave life too keeps you turning the pages , dying to find out what set all that into motion. Fun read.
An Exciting Rollercoaster Ride . . . .......2007-01-29
with more twists and turns than you can fathom! Truly one of the best mysteries that I've read in a very long time. The author does an excellent job of keeping you guessing not only from page to page but from paragraph to paragraph. I honestly had no clue who the ultimate villian was. I can't wait to read more books by this talented writer.
Chilling first rate read.......2007-01-09
Someone is encouraging the patients of Dr. Tess Ciccotelli to commit suicide, and all clues lead police to the doctor herself. Estranged from her family and already considered a pariah by police since her testimony made sure a cop killer did not stand trial due to insanity, they don't want to clear her just yet. But the coincidences are just that, and someone with a grudge wants to see Tess not only stripped of her job, but her freedom too.
When detective Aidan Regan starts to suspect that she is the pawn in a sadistic killer's game of vengeance, he vows to protect the woman that on one hand he dislikes, and on the other he desires. As the two are drawn to each other, and she escapes the traps the killer has set, it becomes an even deadlier game as friends and acquaintances are suddenly being targeted. Will they be able to figure out who hates Tess enough to commit murder before she becomes the next victim or has a chance to reconcile with the family she loves and misses so much?
Rose's latest is yet another first rate romantic suspense, guaranteed to have you biting your nails right down to the cuticle. With plenty of potential suspects and a few plot surprises, the duo of Tess and Aidan burn up the pages and make this nearly 500 pager go quickly. It begs the question, can Rose write a mediocre novel? Doesn't appear so.

Book Description
Stop Being the String Along: A Relationship Guide to Being THE ONE will guide you to: * Authentically empower yourself in your romantic relationships * Become your own best friend * Have authentic communication * Learn how to never settle again * Take the manipulative games out of your relationships * Attract a partner that is a fantastic match for you * Learn how to spiritually evolve in a Sacred Relationship * End negative patterns in your relationship * Learn 50 reasons to stay in a relationship * Learn 50 reasons to leave skid marks * Uproot negative programming that has kept you stuck in String Along misery * Learn what it takes to finally get it right In her groundbreaking book Stop Being the String Along, Barbara Rose states: "Give me ten minutes and I can tell you if you are destined to being a string along or THE ONE for the rest of your life!" Rose does this by identifying the "string along warning signs." We all have string along messages thrown onto us that have been imprinted within our subconscious minds. It is in identifying them, and bringing them out into our conscious awareness that turns a string along into THE ONE. You can know every trick in the book about catching someone, subtlety coercing them, and playing a host of games to get what you want, but if you are subconsciously being the string along you will never succeed in a relationship, and even if you do get married, it will most likely not last! The great news is that now you can easily uncover the old string along programming and create authentic, thriving relationship success. If you are not doing as well in your relationship as you would like, you will have to uproot your subconscious string along messages. Unfortunately your current string along messages will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise them, and that's exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to Barbara Rose, it's simple. If you think like THE ONE thinks and do what THE ONE does, chances are you'll be THE ONE too!
Customer Reviews:
The best things often come in small packages.......2007-10-10
While I was disappointed to get to the end of the book, I considered every page in there loaded with valuable insights and advice.
This book is the polar opposite of, "The Rules". Thank the Heavens!
In Barbara's book, you are applauded, not tolerated, for being your true self. Just think of the word Intimacy for a moment...phonetically it works out to In-to-me-see. In order to be in a real relationship (base word is relate), you have to be real with yourself before you can even begin to understand what it means to share with others. People say, "Oh yes, I know all about that!" If that's truly the case, then explain why the divorce rate is so high in the United States. If you're hiding your authentic self in order to avoid the possibility of rejection, you're not truly present in the relationship. Under such circumstances how fulfilled and loved can you feel? Why bother then?
Then there's the flip side - people hide parts of themselves and don't reveal things that they feel they have reason to be ashamed of, and their partner feels distrusted and cheapened due to the lack of faith demonstrated by their loved one. Perhaps this creates a chasm deep enough to be irreparable and a break up occurs anyway. One of life's ironies to be sure....ah, the wonders of the self-fulfilling prophecy.
I'm a very happily married woman...for almost 20 years now. Don't think a day goes by that I don't thank God for my blessings. Like another reviewer here, I was intrigued with the possibility of being able to help my single girlfriends realize their inherent value.
The message expressed throughout the book is healing, and you can feel it in your heart, not only the mind. Barbara is a very spiritual, tuned in woman and sets a wonderful example to womankind.
Keep up the good work, Barbara!
My wish for each of you beautiful ladies is to revel in your feminine power and embrace it.
Truly a smart woman's guide to healthy relating!.......2007-07-28
I wished I had found Barbara's book years ago. Being single for 10 years and dating, most of what she writes I've already learned through trial and error. I found a lot of validation through her book and answered many questions on why it couldn't or didn't work the way I had hoped. Save yourself from the dramas of dating and read her book. It's a quick read and highlights the key areas of "healthy" relating while taking good care of yourself. It's a must have for the woman that wants more in her relationship without giving up herself.
Just okay.......2007-04-20
This book didn't tell me any information I didn't already know, except for maybe the checklist to let me know whether or not I was a string along. The way I see it, if you're thinking about buying this book in the first place, you are probably a string along. You don't need a book to tell you that.
The One.......2007-04-05
The book was well written and helped pinpoint the different situations in which we all get strung along at certain times in our lives. Barbara does a good job of getting to the point and explaining what to do or how to deal with various situations. We all owe it to ourselves to be the ONE, to be treated with kindness, love and respect.
Right on the mark.......2007-03-11
Anyone who ever questions her romantic relationships should read this book. It will help them identify when a relationship is just not taking them where they want to go and put an end to "being the string along".

Brilliant .......2007-09-02
I am a true Julie Garwood fan. The Clayborne family is by far the best I have read out of all of her books, she seems to astound me with every chapter. But, I do believe The Clayborne Brides was her weakest collection of books, but she still impressed me.
I was disappointed by the obvious rush with the love stories. They all seemed to fall in love quickly with eachother. And I see the arguements above about how that ruined the book. But, what was she suppose to write about? The brothers were all described in previous novels, and if she continued to have the brothers get into trouble throughout the novels, it would just drag on and on. Plus, there were numerous times where to cleverly stated that a few days or weeks had passed.
She did a really great job by making us fall in love with not only Harrison but all of the brothers as well.
Great light reading.......2007-08-27
Even though I'd read this book several years ago, I still couldn't put it down. A great story line with very interesting characters. Can't wait to read the sequel stories again, too.
disappointing.......2007-04-10
I usually really like Garwood but this book which is three stories in one book is very disapointing. The first and the last brothers' stories seemed forced.
More of the Claybornes from "For the Roses".......2007-02-22
It was so nice to get to read about Douglas, Travis, and Adam. I had wondered about Cole until I saw that there was still "Come the Spring" to tell about Cole and more about Daniel Ryan who was introduced in these. The only thing I could find wrong with this book was that each story was too short :) I know that they had to be shorter to fit all three in one book, but I wish they each had their own novel! :) Other than that I thought these books were all great just as I think every single book Julie Garwood has written was great. I don't think she'll ever write a bad book - she's just not capable of it!
The Claybourne Brothers.......2003-08-26
This book is three short stories in one. It is best to read "For the Roses" before you read these books, so that you understand the Claybourne family better.
"ONE PINK ROSE" is the story of Travis Claybourne. Travis is sent by Mama Rose to pick up Emily Finnegan, and deliver her to her groom, O'Toole. Emily is a headstrong girl, who Travis finds difficult to understand, yet intriguing to know more of. While I enjoyed this first book, I did not feel that I really got to know either Travis or Emily. Travis was the one brother in "For the Roses" that I never felt got as much attention as the others. I was hoping for a little more insight into his character, other than his liking of debate and "The Republic," which was already explored to some extent in "For the Roses." Overall, this book rates, in my opinion, a 3/5 stars.
"ONE WHITE ROSE" is the story of Douglas Claybourne, the quiet brother. Douglas bought an Arabian horse six months prior, and finally has time to go collect the animal. When he arrives at the home of Parker Grant, he finds Isabel Grant, his wife, giving birth. Soon, Douglas discovers that Parker Grant has died, and Isabel is being harassed by the town bully. The ultimate reason for the harassment of the bully is a surprise, and I won't give it away here. By far, Douglas' story was the best of these three. I felt that Isabel and Douglas got to know each other, and truly fell in love. It seems that Julie Garwood took an extra liking to Douglas, and focused more on his story. I give this book a 4/5 stars.
Finally, "ONE RED ROSE" the story of Adam Claybourne, the head of the Clayborne family. This story was a complete disappointment. I had expected more from this courageous leader, then a story not worth the effort to read. I knew and respected Adam more when I first met him in "For the Roses." I hope one day, Julie revisits this tale, and improves it greatly. Just skip reading this one. 0/5 stars.
If you are a fan of the Claybournes (as most Julie fans are) this series is a must have. Read tibits of Adams' story. Douglas' story is worth the effort.

"The love story of Emperor Jahangir and Mehrunnisa, begun in the critically praised debut novel The Twentieth Wife, continues in Indu Sundaresan's The Feast of Roses. This lush new novel tells the story behind one of the great tributes to romantic love and one of the seven wonders of the world -- the Taj Mahal. Mehrunnisa, better known as Empress Nur Jahan, comes into Jahangir's harem as his twentieth and last wife. Almost from the beginning of her royal life she fits none of the established norms of womanhood in seventeenth-century India. Mehrunnisa is the first woman Jahangir marries for love, at the ""old"" age of thirty-four. He loves her so deeply that he eventually transfers his powers of sovereignty to her. Power and wealth do not come easily to Mehrunnisa -- she has to fight for them. She has a formidable rival in the imperial harem, Empress Jagat Gosini, who has schemed and plotted against Mehrunnisa from early on. Mehrunnisa's problems do not just lie within the harem walls, but at court, too, as she battles powerful ministers for supremacy. These ministers, who have long had Emperor Jahangir's confidence and trust, consider Mehrunnisa a mere woman who cannot have a voice in the outside world. Mehrunnisa combats all of this by forming a junta of sorts with three men she can rely on -- her father, her brother, and Jahangir's son Prince Khurram. She demonstrates great strength of character and cunning to get what she wants, sometimes at a cost of personal sorrow when she almost loses her daughter's love. But she never loses the love of the man who bestows this power upon her -- Emperor Jahangir. The Feast of Roses is a tale of this power and love, the story of power behind a veil. "

Tami Abdullah.......2007-09-21
A wonderful book. It is hard to put down. Indu is a magnificent writer.
Seductive and intelligent.......2007-08-03
Sundaresan is talented in her craft. She completely seduces the reader with vividly intense writing. She is artful in explaining customs and traditions without being condescending. The reader is enchanted by her storyline of a strong willed woman from tenuous circumstances and follows her like a waft of smoke through Mehrunnisa's path.
The love story is universal, and everyone can relate to the desire and longing for both life and love that the main character pursues, in this case, in the second half of her life. This sequel follows the character and the challenges she continues to face. She is so well created, that we grow to love her, knowing her flaws and admiring her strengths.
Immediately upon finishing the first book, I hunted down this sequel, which was as richly fulfilling as the first book was. I found myself reading the book by this author at every spare moment.
Love, murder, political intrigue..........2007-05-18
The other online reviews of this book are very accurate. This book seems less character driven than The Twentieth Wife. It's quite heavy in descriptive detail, which is sometimes plodding. But, Mehrunnisa's story is fascinating. What's that quote about "nice women don't make history"? She became increasingly ambitious, at times blinded by it, but always centered on her husband's love. Love, murder, political intrigue - what more can a novelist ask for? I enjoyed this very much.
The Feast of Roses.......2007-03-24
This book made me aware of the interesting background of the Indian culture. I feel it was very well written with a lot of detail and information. However, at times there was too much detail and it slowed down the story. The author knows how to weave the facts with an interesting story. I would loan it to a friend.
Exotic Moghul historical novel.......2007-01-09
This book is wonderful, well written and atmospheric. The personal story of Nur Jahan and her rise to power through her marriage to Jahanghir 4th Moghul Emperor in 17th Century India. Indu Sundaresan draws us into another world so vividly: sandalwood and roses, rustle of silk, cool marble floors under our feet, tiger hunts, the intrigue of the Moghul court, the hidden power of the Imperial harem (the Zenana)the circling European powers looking for a foot in the door to the riches of India. This book is a perfect vacation or winter evening read by the fireside. I gave copies of both 20th Wife and Feast of Roses to all the teenage daughters and nieces in my life. Reading this book has prompted to me to search out more historical accounts of the Moghul Imperial rule in India.

Clayborne Series
Reviewer: Deidre Sine
Mary Rose is the beloved sister to the Clayborne's. The Clayborne men protect their family and friends with a vengeance and have become a force not to be reckoned with in Montana. Only this family is different than most, the men aren't a blood family but they have forged their family for Mary Rose. The men were a rough gang of street kids in New York, who fought together to stay alive. One night they saw a parcel discarded and in that parcel they found a beautiful baby girl. That girl was Mary Rose and they decided to move to Blue Belle, Montana and raise her as a lady. Well, Mary Rose is now a well-behaved, independent, beautiful young woman who has returned to Blue Belle after her schooling. All goes well until Mary Rose meets a stranger in town.
The stranger is Lord Harrison Stanford MacDonald. He is a gentleman through and through; however, he needs help to learn frontier survival. While the Clayborne's teach Harrison about survival he falls in love with the strong woman Mary Rose is. Harrison carries with him a secret, a secret that could destroy his newfound love with Mary Rose. Mary Rose must deal with the past before she can have a future.
For the Roses is a wonderfully written book by Ms. Garwood, which I have read, and reread. I find Ms. Garwood's ability to create such fantastic and real characters a tremendous gift to her readers. Readers who enjoyed the Clayborne family can read more in the rest of the Clayborne Bride series.
Boring! .......2007-07-05
I usually love Julie Garwood's books but this one I'm having the hardest time finishing. It's just dragging on and on. I like it better when an author really focuses on the main characters story but this has all her brothers piping in and it just bugged me after about 50 pages.
Lost Lots of Sleep.......2006-09-21
This book was amazing. It was the first book I read from Ms. Garwood, and I have been a fan ever since. The story was driven by love and loyalty. The twists and turns, and the very reality of slavery and how it tore families apart was heartwrenching. The fact that something that bleak brought a bunch of young boys together and made them a family was very lovely. Ms. Garwood captured the essence of love and family. This book is truly magical.
Family Love.......2006-05-21
For The Roses by Julie Garwood was a good read but I would give it 3
stars which equalivant to a B. It was good but to me could have cut
some out and it still be good and in my opinion it would been even
better. It was about a group of boys that found a baby and the 5 of
them became a family. It didnt matter they werent blood related none of
them ,where but they were related where it counts. And thats in the
heart.
