He almost washes out of pilot training but is persistent and manages to graduate. In Vietnam, he proves to be a skillful and courageous pilot who faces dangers of all kinds with equanimity. But the greatestand most deadly dangermaterializes years after O'Neill volunteers to be an observer at an atomic test site.
In the end, O'Neill decides that when his time comes, he will dash at it fearlessly. He anticipates being greeted by departed friendsbut what awaits him is something totally unexpected.
Download Description
Skip O¿Neill was just twenty two when he volunteered to participate in an atomic test. He did so willingly, certain his government would not put him in harm's way. Afterwards, he served his country honorably and with courage, retiring as a Colonel and combat decorated fighter pilot. Years later, he learned the awful truth...he was dying of leukemia, most likely due to radiation exposure. While Skip is fictional, his story unfortunately is not. More than 400,000 troops were exposed to radiation during atomic tests or as POWs in Japan. Fewer than 20,000 are still alive. Most are over seventy five. Many have cancer. "I participated in an atomic test at Yucca Flat, Nevada in August, 1957." Standerfer told an interviewer. "Standing on an observation platform eight miles from ground zero, I watched the detonation of an atomic bomb with a yield of 44 kiloton...more than twice the size of the one dropped in Nagasaki. Needless to say, it was an experience I never forgot and it weighed heavily on my mind when I wrote the book." The Eagle's Last Flight is a journey through a nearly forgotten era when the Cold War veterans were place in harm's way by our government and routinely lost their lives due to the carelessness and mismanagement of their leaders. Given the current controversies over adequate protection for our troops in Iraq, it is likely that readers who take that journey will learn a lot about how things used to be, but conclude that nothing much has changed.

An AF Pilot's Turbulent Wake.......2007-09-13
Explosive! The Eagle's Last Flight, a highly-charged, human drama is told with consummate skill and intrigue - filled with gripping twists and turns a pilot must execute for survival. It's a revealing slice of memorable air force life served up close and personal. This one's definitely an all-nighter. Reviewed by William E. Cooper for Reader Views (2/07)
As a work of fiction Colonel Standerfer has produced a book that places his readers well within the realm of reality. It is the story of a decorated combat pilot who is dying of leukemia. The story takes us through his training (which he nearly fails to complete) to his association with veteran World War II and Korean War fighter pilots. These friends take him under their wing and teach him the realities of combat flying. He is assigned to combat operations in Vietnam and proves himself and capable and heroic pilot. Colonel Standerfer's writing skill puts you in the cockpit with pilot Skip O'Neill as he maneuvers and engages in aerial combat. The fact that the author himself flew 237 combat missions in Vietnam provides the background and real knowledge and skills to take the reader with him back into the fight.
Following his combat experiences O'Neill volunteers to be an observer at the testing of atomic bombs. Without the knowledge of radiation and the proximity to the detonation, O'Neill is exposed to what will become lethal doses of radiation, over time. He contracts leukemia and the story follows his treatments and reflections of his experiences. As the disease progresses, O'Neill decides to accept his fate with courage and dignity. He reflects over his life and career experiences while deciding how to meet his end. Colonel Standerfer creates and ending for the book which is both surprising and emotional. This review will not reveal that ending as the reader needs to experience it alone.
For anyone who reads, "The Eagle's Last Flight" should be added to your library. It is a well-composed and well-written story, and certainly worth your time and expense to get and read it. I have to tell Colonel Standefer very well done sir, very well done. Be proud of this work.
Standerfer Stands Stellar.......2006-07-08
Standerfer follows the life of a young fighter pilot caught up flying the F-100 jet fighter during the war in South East Asia. Interwoven into this main theme are several sub-themes that dove-tail beautifully into overall scenario. Action is crackling, fast and breathtaking. Get this book and witness how difficult it is to put it down, once started.
Wannabe.......2006-06-18
If you wannabe a fighter pilot, read this book. If you always wanted to be a fighter pilor and never were, read this book. If you were or are a fighter pilot, read this book. I guarantee enjoyment. This is one of the best books about flying fighters, life in the military, war and the humans who do it, all with the best of characters shrouded in history, mixed with realism, sex, joy, tragedy, sadness, mystery. I could feel the Gs, taste the martinis and smell the perfume. I felt like I knew the characters, or someone just like them, and saw every fighter pilot in "Skip" and every fighter pilot's wife in "Christy" - go get this book NOW - and put it on the top of your stack - you won't be disappointed - Don Shepperd, author and CNN Military Analyst
Charles Severns, Great book.......2006-03-24
I can vouch for one chapter in the book. Tchepone, Laos, April 1, 1969. This chapler is baised on fact. I was the FE on the Jolly Green that rescued "Skip" Ron Standerfer from Laos that day. We really were low on fuel. When we started our penetration for the rescue, we dumped down to 30 minutes fuel and requested a tanker meet us at 1,000 feet on the way out. We rescued both pilots, and hooked up with the tanker at 32 minutes.
In 2000 through contacts that my PJ on the mission had, we linked up with Ron on the internet. That was an exciting day. Ron is the only survivor that I was involved with rescuing that I have made contact with, and know how thier lifes turned out.
The book isn't 100% correct but it is based on fact.

Historical Fiction Book Review.......2007-03-16
Bombing! Bombing! Find shelter, run for your life! There are twin boys named Harry and Max Kelso who fought in World War II. Growing up, their father, Jack Kelso, was a fighter pilot for the United States. After their father dies in a car accident, their mother and grandfather decide to split the boys apart. Max would go with his mother to live in Germany and Harry would stay with his grandfather in Boston. Both brothers grow up to be fighter pilots just like their father. Surprisingly, Max becomes a pilot for Germany, and Harry for Britain. After Harry is captured by Nazi troops, Max decides to rescue his twin brother. I recommend this book to teenagers who love to read historical fiction novels.
One reason why I enjoyed reading this book is because it kept me on my toes. For example, when Max and Harry fly out at the same time and almost demolish each other's planes. Also, when Max begins to bomb British bases where Harry is located, I was petrified that he would kill his own brother. In addition, Harry is captured by the Nazi forces and is put into jail. I was really afraid that Max and Harry would never be able to see each other again.
This historical fiction book makes you feel as though you are living every moment of the characters' lives. Like during Jack Kelso's funeral, you could feel the grief from the family. In addition, when the two brothers are separated as teenagers, I could feel the disappointment and the melancholy in each of the brothers' hearts. Last, Harry destroys three planes that have to make emergency landings. I felt his determination and concentration in trying to be an incredible fighter pilot just his father.
Finally, this book teaches you a great deal of historical knowledge about World War II. For instance, it explains what it was like to live in Britain and Germany during that time. Also, it describes how much training it took to become a fighter pilot. In addition, the novel helps you to learn what it was like to have bombs falling from the sky where you live and always having to be on alert. Not only does this book tell a story, it also provides numerous World War II facts.
Flight of Eagles is a remarkable book to read. It is adventurous and fast paced. Also, it provides a great description of the World War II time period. It's astonishing and tells a significant story of two caring twin brothers. Any teenager interested in historical fiction books should read Flight of Eagles.

Awesome WWII Story.......2006-08-26
Jack Higgins tells the amazing story of Max and Harry Kelso, identical twin brothers of German-American descent. In World War I, their father, Jack Kelso, flew for the Royal British Flying Corps. He fell in love with his German nurse, Baroness Elsa Von Halder, while hospitalized after his plane was shot down, and married her and sent her to live with his father in the United States. She bore him twins Max and Harry, and after Jack's death wanted to return to Germany with them. The boys' grandfather was rather fond of them and talked Elsa into leaving the younger twin in the United States with him, so Harry was raised as an American, and Max became Baron Von Halder in Germany. Both boys loved to fly as much as their father had, and when World War II broke out, Harry volunteered for the RAF while Max climbed the ranks in the Luftwaffe. Over the years, Max and Harry crossed paths a few times, sometimes unwittingly, until suddenly their combined fates have an impact on the outcome of the war. By Harry's side throughout the story is Tarquin the teddy bear, dressed in a flight suit and wearing pilot's wings. Tarquin flew with Jack Kelso on every flight in the First World War, and took up his post in the cockpit again during the Second World War with Harry. It is enigmatic Tarquin who sets off the events in this story.
Though time is not taken to delve deeply into the thoughts and feelings of the characters, the story is so compelling, and so well-woven, it didn't really matter. I came to care about everyone in this story, especially the heartbreaking Kelso twins. The story moves from Harry's life and contacts in Britain to Max and Elsa's story in Germany in such a way that I practically felt I was there. The whole time the story ambles along, events are in motion on both sides of the war that slowly, inexorably come to a head. By that time, the pages were turning themselves.
This is the first novel by Mr. Higgins that I have read, and I will definitely be reading more. Putting a unique perspective on World War II and the people involved in it from the top brass to the barmaids who serve them on both sides, both big and small characters alike come to life while history unfolds from the cockpit of a fighter plane. This is an excellent book for World War II buffs and action fans alike.
Pleasantly dull.......2006-04-27
I'm not a great writer so I'm a little reluctant to criticize someone else but this was really a dull read. I felt like the author wrote it over a weekend, between walking the dog and dining with friends. Don't get me wrong, there's something about WWII espionage-type books that pull me in, and I enjoyed sections of this one, but the shallow characters and unbelievable story (why, exactly, were all these generals and assorted bigshots always so eager to allow Harry Kelso into their cirle?) made me feel as though the author never really tried very hard. By the time I was 2/3 of the way through the book I was very happy I had got at the library and not spent money on it.
Flight of the Eagles.......2005-05-17
This was absolutely the best book I have ever read. I can read and 350 page book and be done with it in about a day, but this book was different. I could not set this book down. I read it in the morning, in school, at home, and in bed. I felt like I was living the story as I read page after page. From the very beginning, the pages were packed with excitement, adventure, true facts about WWII, and a little romance mixed in. I loved this book so much, I read it 5 times, and wrote 3 reports about it for school. If you are looking for a good read, this is most definantly the book for you.
Luigi Miller Place NY.......2004-11-10
I think this book was good book because it firsts takes place in 1997 when Higgens and his wife survive a plane crash in the English channel, then it jumps in to world war2 and Higgens is a ww2 polit.and lots of thing happen to him. I recomend Flight Of Eagles to anyone looking for a world war2 action book and this book also many twists and turns to keep you reading to the end

Fighting a Dangerous War, Observing Leadership.......2005-12-09
Possum was General Haywood Hansell; Eagle, General Curtis LeMay.
Ralph Nutter was a student at Harvard Law when Pearl Harbour occurred. A few weeks later he was in the Army Air Corp headed to navigator school. (A few years later he was the only survivor of his 22 fellow graduates.) A few months later and he was in England as a navigator on a B-17. In an incident where he knew where they were and none of the others did, Eagle made him the lead navigator of the group.
As the European was was winding down, he was transferred to the Pacific and B-29's. Again he was made lead navigator. Eventually LeMay was sent to the Pacific and Nutter returned to work with him.
This book is both a story of the war, and a story of leadership in war time. His insights on LeMay are enlightening and impressed me. LeMay's general reputation is a lot lower than that held by Mr. Nutter.
Insight into Wartime Leadership.......2004-01-17
Although we had to wait until after General LeMay's death, we finally find within "With the Possum and the Eagle" the real story of the leadership of General Curtis LeMay. If you're interested in the history of World War II and the significant role aviation had in both the European and Pacific campaigns, Ralph Nutter's account is difficult to put down. Nutter's close proximity to senior aviation leadership during the war gives the reader a rare glimpse into what those wartime leaders faced and the decisions they had to make vis-a-vis both logistical and environmental constraints to operations. A superb account.
Lucid and Honest.......2002-02-21
Ralph Nutter writes with extraordinary candor and clarity about a period in our history when he and others of his generation faced terrible odds in the struggle to save the world from Fascism. His account is as compelling as it is straightforward and unvarnished. A must-read for anyone fascinated by the true meaning of courage under fire.
They were Expendable........2002-02-04
Reads like a good, fast paced novel. Exciting, building chronicle of the air war over Europe and the Pacific.
Explains with starteling clarity the cockpit horrors that left no alternatives to the area bombing of Dresden and Tokyo. Makes it very clear that the A-Bombs were redundant and unnecessary.
A terribly real sense of our "losing years" and the desperate process of a war of attrition. The author, being one of only two survivors of his navigator's class of 22, lets us glimpse the terror and the heroism of an air war where victory would finally go to the combatant who had more young men to "expend"...

Customer Reviews:
Great Idea, but lacking in plot and consistency.......2004-07-24
When I first read these books several years ago, I fell in love with them. The whole idea with the time capsules proved very interesting, and it's neat to read a book where some modern-day technologies are combined with old weapons and other 19th century things. I also believe the seven sleepers are well defined and clearly mature throughout the books.
One thing that constantly annoyed me while reading was the inconsistency. The ages tend to switch every once in a while, and little things such as hair color, eye color, and other physical features. These were things I didn't pick up when I was younger that I noticed this time. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the books are short but at the beginning of each one it focuses back to this book and describes how it all started and not the end of the previous book, and in each one the ages and physical descriptions are described.
The biggest problem I have with this book and the rest of them is very close references to The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. Example: in The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis they tie the prince to a chair while he goes crazy from a spell. In this book they tie one of the characters to a tree and much the same thing happens. Also in other books, especially The Final Kingdom there were names exactly or almost exactly out of The Lord of the Rings (Beorn, Morder, and one very close to Celeborn). Again, I didn't pick up on these things when I was younger.
I highly reccommend this book to anyone under the age of 13. If you're older and looking for a good read, try the Chronicles of Narnia or the Lord of the Rings, they're more geared toward older audiences and the ties to Christianity are better woven in the plots. Also, in the Seven Sleeper Series, after the second book they become very similar: save another tribe, move on the the next one. They are great books but geared toward smaller audiences.
An Even Blend of Sci-Fi and Fantasy.......2003-05-18
Flight of the Eagles, book #1 in the Seven Sleepers series is a sci-fi thriller as well as a fantasy epic. Not many fiction writers blend both science fiction and fantasy in the same novel, and Gilbert Morris succeeds at blending the two very distinctly different genres, although it is not a seamless blend. In the first parts of this novel, a nuclear war strikes the entire globe and silo labs and time capsules are described. Later on in the novel, the protagonists team up with a giant, some dwarfs, and gnomes, and battle with evil humans and monsters using swords and arrows. The protagonists also commit their lives to a divine, supernatural being. This is quite possibly the most unusual and interesting book I have ever read.
The storyline concerns an ordinary 14 year-old boy named Joshua Adams who is self-concious concerning his clumsiness and self-image. Then a girl named Sarah Collingwood, who is Josh's age, comes to stay at his house while her parents travel to Africa as missionaries.
Then a global nuclear war strikes. Josh's father wakes him up the night of the first nuclear strikes. Josh finds himself in a race against time, along with his parents and Sarah, to his father's silo lab. When they arrive at the concrete building. Josh's father explains to them that the world as they knew it would end that very night because of the global nuclear war. Josh is put into a time capsule deep inside the silo building and Sarah is whisked away to seperate capsule. Josh's father explains to him that when he awakes from the time capsule, he, along with several others, will find himself on a planet altered by nuclear devastation.
50 years later, Joshua Adams is awakened by from his sleep by and old man named Crusoe. He later discovers that the genetically altered races of Earth hail his awakening as the first fulfillment of ancient prophecy which states that seven sleepers would arise in Nuworld to unite their strength with Goel and join in battle against the forces of evil that threaten to dominate Nuworld. Josh learns that he, along with six others, would become the only hope of Nuworld.
He teams up with Crusoe, a giant named Volka, and two dwarfs named Mat and Tam, and together they embark on a dangerous quest through Nuworld to find and awaken the other sleepers from the Oldworld, one of which is Sarah, who is the second sleeper. Together they continue the quest to find the other five sleepers.
The third Sleeper is Jake Garfield, who is a redheaded boy of about 14 years old. His character isn't developed very much for some reason.
The fourth Sleeper is 15 year-old Dave Cooper who is very confident concerning himself and how he relates to others, and who can be both optimistic and pessimistic depending on the situation.
The fifth Sleeper is 14 year-old Bob Jackson whom everyone calls Reb. He has a very distinct character as someone who enjoys thoroughly the lifestyle of a cowboy. He is a southerner whose favorite historical figure is Stonewall Jackson.
The sixth Sleeper is 13 year-old Abigail Roberts, who is a rich girl who is used to having whatever she wants. She is not a very likeable character at first, but later on her character is developed positively.
The seventh and final Sleeper is 12 year-old Gregory Jones, whom everyone calls Wash. Seeing as he doesn't come on the scene until the last parts of the book, there is not much time for his character to be developed.
Throughout the course of their quest to find and awaken the Sleepers, Josh and his companions encounter many dangers. The evil priests of the Sanhedrin are a constant and potent threat to their survival, and other dangers besides are encountered, such as giant killer bees, highly dangerous marsh lands, monster attacks, a perilous desert, and more. This novel's climax involves a huge battle fought between the seven Sleepers with their Nuworld companions and the armies of the evil Sanhedrin warrior priests. One of the seven Sleepers is killed in the battle, then brought to life again by Goel, the spiritual leader of the Sleepers. One of the main Nuworld characters dies, and there is a surprise ending which will indeed surprise you.
Flight of the Eagles is a promising beginning to the Seven Sleepers series. The storyline is excellent, and most of the characters are well-developed. I have rated this book with 4 stars because some of the characters are not as developed as others. Still, I highly reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi or fantasy.
1st of the Seven Sleepers Series.......2003-05-12
"Flight of the Eagles" is the first in the "Seven Sleepers Series" by Gilbert L. Morris. The world as we know it has changed after a terrible nuclear war. Fourteen-year-old Joshua Adams wakes up from a fifty year sleep to find himself escaped from the war. But to his surprised he finds that his awakening has hailed the beginning of an ancient prophecy. For years the genetically altered races of Earth have sung of Seven Sleepers who would awaken from a deep sleep and unite together with Goel to fight against the evil priests of the Sanhedrin. Josh's quest is to now find the other sleepers and continue the quest to rid the world of the Sanhedrin. But along the way, Josh and his new found friends, both from the old world and new world, must face dangers and betrayals that will threaten their faith and commitment to Goel.
Some say that these series live up to the standards of "The Chronicles of Narnia", I beg to differ. Their are some similarities, one in that the main characters are of the younger generations, teenagers to be more specific. But while the Narnia series had a depth to it in which even adults will find themselves drawn into the story, "The Seven Sleepers Series" falls a bit flat. Gilbert Morris is an accomplished writer of more adult books, including the great "House of Winslow Series", "Appomattox Series", "Cheney Duvalle M.D. Series", and numerous other wonderful historical/fiction series. But his attempt to writing a series aimed for younger children is a bit disappointing.
First of all, the religious themes embedded into this series feels a bit contrite and not too well developed. Aslan was a great character in Narnia, but Goel's characters feels a bit flat even though he is supposed to be the Sleeper's spiritual champion. There is no real climax in the book as the story plods through at a mediocre pace. I had to force myself to finish the story.
But don't take me wrong, I am only giving my opinion as a sixteen-year-old. The series is aimed for kids younger than me. There is nothing objectionable in the stories so these books are great for kids ages 10-14. The only point I'm trying to make is some reviewers said that this series is up there with the Chronicles of Narnia. Whereas those series can be read by kids of a wide age range, "The Seven Sleepers" are strictly for younger kids.
Definately Recommended!.......2003-01-19
One of the few examples of Christian fantasy/sci-fi-- besides the Chronicles of Narnia-- that I've been able to read without cringing. I have high standards for what I read, and this series, of which this book is the first, lives up to them very well. The Christian element is definately there but it doesn't bludgeon you over the head, unlike some other books. Some elements in it have been taken from other books, but it's not obvious and it doesn't detract from the story. The characters are original and interesting, and they go through obvious changes throughout the series-- they don't remain static at all. The plot is an interesting idea, as well, and the setting adds the final touch needed to make this a great series. The ending is poignant and touching-- I get tears in my eyes every time I read it. I'd definately recommend buying this book if you like the fantasies of C.S. Lewis, Tolkien and their ilk.
Very Good.......2002-05-06
I have read all of the books in this series. I read them all a couple years ago but I enjoyed every single one. This series and the Bonnnets and Bugles Series were my favorite books from childhood. I recommend all of these books to you as well as the books from the Bonnets and Bugles Series by Gilbert Morris.

A Mix Of Radical Empiricism And Cognitive Psychology At It's Finest.......2005-07-26
This larger than life persona did so much in his lifetime in bringing forth the dualities people live by that I consider him to be perhaps the greatest exponent of freedom and self help "guru" available to the general public.
His teachings became institutionalized perhaps something he would negate in retrospect, yet the messages he brought in regard to living intensly with awareness, observation and meditation as a living process not a mechanical fixture that one can employ is fresh and unique coming from an Easterner in these days of Buddhist and other forms of meditation.Life and living is one long meditation and living with "What Is" NOT "What Should Be" is also a message psychologists seem to harp on these days in regard to negative thoughts and thinking.Thought Breeds The Thinker.
Acceptance of the real, rejection of judgement to penetrate and see one's motives brings on a life of choiceless awareness which is a life being fully lived.Every grain of sand becomes holy and meaningful by this radical form of acceptance of both joy and pain.
This book is one of his finest capturing key topics on his ideas in a very readable exciting form.Any reader of K knows that reading his books is often a process of repetition of ideas with modifications that is worthwhile. This book is a classic better than the excerpts presented in many of his other published works.
The Flight of Dignity.......2001-03-31
J. Krishnamurti, born a sickly Hindi child, was raised and molded for the position of world guru by the Theosophical society. He did become a physically healthy yound man, and the Order of the Star was formed around him to nurture his big awakening. He gave speeches and had a great following. Then during a huge gathering of 2000 of his devotees, he broke the news to them, which was essentially "I am not your leader. I can not make you enlightened. Only you can do that. Do not follow me for I have no answers for you. You must think through life for yourself." This turn, what might have been percieved as a let down, was actually great advice and deep wisdom. After that he continued to speak, but always with the same message, which was basically to do away with all conditioning and to search for the truth of reality without the screens of religions, politics, patriotism, gurus, philosophies, etc. He sought to see reality as it was, not as how people dreamed it should be. This book is a small sample of his talks and writings. But there is so much more to the man and his profound mind than this. Since Amazon may not have this one in stock, check out one of his other books. But it must be noted that many of the books of Krishnamurti are biographies. They are interesting, but to get to the core of his ideas, check out HIS writings and talks.

Unheeded Warning movingly depicits the tragedy of human loss suffered by a singular aircraft crash, examining in parallel the mechanical/operational details that prompted the FAA's second-only grounding in history of an airliner.

Sour Grapes from American Pilot Reviewer??.......2005-06-12
I have read the book and feel it is a very compelling story of tragedy resulting from corporate negligence. I remembered the general story of this flight when it happened and had no recollection of the way this disaster was handled by American Airlines. The book seems true to the factual accounts and is backed up by federal records.
I met Mr. Fredrick and know the passion that he has for passengers' rights and those of the families left behind after tragedy. This other yahoo who had negative to say about his motives seems to be venting sour grapes.
I highly recommend the book!
Excellent book by a courageous pilot.......2004-10-12
The book is filled with accurate information about how the politics at the FAA is once again responsible for unnecessary deaths of innocent, trusting passengers and crew. That is an old, recurring story about that worthless bureaucracy known as the FAA.
The one negative review above was obviously written by an ALPA pilot, who hates Fredrick because his book also criticizes ALPA for putting its self-interest political agendas before safety, as it has always done.
I am grateful that Stephen Fredrick had the courage to put his concern for safety of the passengers, above the politically correct loyalty, which unions like ALPA demand from their members.
Pilot At "Authors" Airline Speaks Out - Don't Buy This Book.......2004-03-24
As a pilot at the airlne when Mr. Fredrick used to work, and someone that knew three of the crewmembers in the crash of 4184, I find it revolting that he used this disaster to make a name for himself. He even tried to be a "star" at the NTSB hearings on the crash at Indianopolis.
Also, I happened to see a multi-page letter that Mr. Fredrick wrote to the pilots union following the crash. He couldn't even write coherent paragraphs, let alone a book. This book has to be ghost-written.
Also, if Mr. Fredrick was so wary of the ATR aircraft, why did he continue to fly the airplane at American Eagle even after the 4184 crash.
Don't waste you time with this book. It only rewards someone who is driven by ego and profits off the backs of dead crash victims.
Great book, but forgot something..........1999-05-01
Fredrick's book is great, very well written. But he left out one very important thing. Airplane is the safest way to travel long distances. Statistics show that you would need to take a flight every day for 35,000 years before being assured of being in a fatal accident, and even then chances are that you would survive. Mr. Fredrick barely mentioned the good points of the F.A.A. and N.T.S.B., and even though I'm not exactly an American Airlines/Eagle fan, they are one of the safest airline operators in the world.
For anyone interested in aviation, this book is a must........1999-03-04
This is a very detailed account of American Eagle flight 4184. It's very informative and moving. Must reading for anyone interested in aviation.

While Flight Simulator fans continue to wait for Microprose's much-heralded and oft-delayed Falcon 4.0, Jane's Combat Simulations continues to pump out impressive simulations. The latest is Jane's F-15, an amazing jet combat simulator with top-notch graphics and realism. Prima's guide to the game is a bit different than most strategy guides. There are no walk-throughs for a simulator, since missions tend to unfold very differently each time you play them. Instead, the book offers up a heaping helping of information on how to effectively handle your aircraft, your wingmen, and the many, many weapons at your disposal. The guide provides maps and strategies for each mission type, which should prove valuable over the course of the game's lengthy campaigns. Tons of graphs, charts, and tables give you the lowdown on the F-15's capabilities--as well as every other aircraft in the game. The book even contains an 80-page excerpt from the U.S. Air Force's Multi-Command Manual 3-3, a training document read by every real-world F-15 pilot. --Michael Ryan
Book Description
Intelligence files on enemy equipment and vehicles
History and profile of the F-15E; excerpts from actual F-15E manuals
Playtester tips and multiplayer combat strategies
In-depth analysis of mission tactics
Overall strategies for each phase of the campaigns

Quick shipping to France. Very good seller.......2005-10-08
I'm very happy with this transaction. The book is in good condition and the shipping to France was very fast. Thank you.
Great info on how to win........1999-03-29
This book provides a wealth of excellent information on the Jane's F-15 combat sim. I progressed from a person who had not won a single dogfight to winning almost every single dogfight and destroying every single target I was sent out to destroy over the course of this book.
Good beginners guide to a complicated flight sim.......1998-08-15
If you're new to flight sims and trying to tackle Janes' F-15, then you'll no doubt find this guide to be of great help. More experienced sim-pilots will enjoy the detailed graphs and weapons overviews, but much of the rest of the guide will be of little value for them. Much of the info in the guide is already available in the Expert Manual that came with the simulator. There is good information here for any player of Janes' F-15, but the focus is definately on the less experienced sim pilot.
