Book Description
With over one million novels in print, New York Times best-selling author Joel C. Rosenberg has been called "eerily prophetic" and a "modern Nostradamus" for his uncanny ability to write political thrillers that come true. In his first nonfiction book, this evangelical Christian from an Orthodox Jewish heritage takes readers on an unforgettable journey through prophecy and current events into the future of Iraq after Saddam, Russia after Communism, Israel after Arafat, and Christianity after radical Islam. You won't want to miss Joel's exclusive interviews with Israeli, Palestinian, and Russian leaders, and previously classified CIA and White House documents. Similar to the approach Joel takes in his novels, his desire is to draw readers into stories, anecdotes, and predictions in a way that builds confidence that allows Joel to share his faith in Jesus Christ and the reliability of Scripture as a guide to understanding the past and the future. Drawing on his experience in Washington, his own exclusive interviews with world leaders, and his astute political acumen, Joel makes sense of the events surrounding the Middle East. He connects information in a way that will make you understand and really care about the world's most important events and how they impact your life--from gas prices to your bank account.Epicenter is about: Change--big changes, dramatic changes, changes that will transform the world as we know it. Answers--what the changes are underway in the world's most important countries. Insight--readers will understand the trajectory of world events by being taken inside the governments of Iran, Iraq, Russia, China, and more. Accessibility--aimed for a wide audience in both the general and Christian markets. Faith--Joel shares his faith in Jesus Christ and the reliability of Scripture. Epicenter will answer questions like: Will Iraq go from bad to worse? Will Israel and her Arab neighbors find peace, or is another major Middle East war just around the corner? If the new, post-Soviet Russia is our friend, why is the Kremlin creating a new class of thermonuclear weapons and building an alliance with radical Islam?

An excellent read for those interested Mid-Eastern philosophy & prophecy.......2007-10-05
If you are a student of Biblical prophecy and the current mid--eastern conflicts, you will be fascinated by the author's ability to tie past, present, and fututre events together. If this topic isn't your "cup of tea," this book could provide fodder to create an interest - definitely worth reading.
Very Interesting-Must Read For Jew & Gentile.......2007-09-29
I found this book to be very interesting if you like end of times prophecy.
Couldn't Put it Down!!.......2007-09-19
Honestly, one of the best books I have ever read. He does a fantastic job of juxtaposing todays headlines with scripture...amazing!
Epicenter.......2007-09-10
Outstanding; This is not your grandfather's exposition of Bible prophecy! A much needed updating of "the old story" that we have all heard from childhood. Rosenberg brings new clarity and credibility to the Old Testament Prophets like no other author in my lifetime. This is not fiction, this is real history-in-process.
Joel Rosenberg Hits Another Home Run . . . amazingly prescient book.......2007-09-07
Want a front row seat on the middle east? Want a quick start guide to what is happening there, not only for today but in the near future?
Joel Rosenbergs books offer this to the readers. I especially enjoyed the audio version of the book and his reading of it was both professional and empathetic at the same time. With empathy for those most involved and suffering, he tells their story with feeling and grace. Joel knows this subject inside and out, and personally knows most of the key players both past and current at the top of the governments and groups involved in the struggle over the tiny piece of real estate known as Israel.
Whether of not you share his viewpoints and personal beliefs, no one can argue that the "novels" that he has written have been off the mark in their conclusions or outcomes. You will be informed and entertained (as much as current events can entertain) by what he writes. WAS THERE ANYONE ELSE who foretold the 9/11 sequence of events in a novel or otherwise??
Joel Rosenberg did in "The Last Jihad" . . . and has gone on from there . . .
Book Description
Why is it that our current twenty-first century a.d. is so similar to the twenty-first century
B.C.? At a time when religious fanaticism and a clash of civilizations raise the specter of a nuclear Armageddon, many ask: Is history destined to repeat itself? What does the future hold? Will biblical prophecies come true, and if so, when?
Ever since Zecharia Sitchin, in his first trailblazing book The 12th Planet, brought to life the Sumerian civilization and its record of the Annunaki—the extraterrestrials who had come to Earth from their planet Nibiru, fashioned mankind, and gave us civilization and religion—questions have abounded. Are the ancient gods still here, or did they leave? Will they return? What will happen then? Will there be another Deluge or Apocalypse when Nibiru meets Earth? What about Planet X and the Mayan 2012? What about Jesus?
In The End of Days, a masterwork that required thirty years of additional research, Sitchin dares to give the answers by presenting compelling new evidence that the Past is the Future—that mankind and its planet Earth are subject to a predetermined cyclical Celestial Time.
Tracing historical events from the messianic fervor and use of nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century
B.C., Sitchin resolves ancient enigmas like the Nazca Lines or the origin and significance of the Cross, the Fishes, and the Chalice, places in context the events of the Last Supper and hidden clues like those in Da Vinci's painting, explains the space-related reasons for the everlasting centrality of Jerusalem, and—following in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton—deciphers the Time Code in the books of Daniel and Revelation and of the Day of the Lord and the End of Days prophecies.
In this remarkable and relevant conclusion to his bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, Sitchin shatters perceptions and uses history to reveal what is to come at The End of Days.

Awesome FICTIONAL work........2007-09-26
What a great story! From a purely fictional point of view that is. But please don't take Mr. Sitchin seriously. Yes, he's done a lot of work and he's very passionate and I believe HE believes all that's in his books. But if you want facts, follow the work of true scholars.
There are plenty of reviews on this book and even more opinions I'm sure.
What's more important than a review is a call to reason. People - please... Just because you want or need to believe something is true doesn't mean that it is. When dealing with history and languages, I would highly recommend reviewing the work of true and accomplished scholars. Do this and you will likely get complete (as much as is possible) and the most accurate picture of the past as one can.
His credentials in no way qualify him to make such claims. If nothing else, look at his credentials and ask yourself how is this man qualified to make such claims?
I drive a fancy sports car and can give you the exact specs on the engine and body, from top to bottom. I could WOW the best of them with all the tech talk about the engine, transmission, suspension, etc. I could even carry on a detailed conversation with the mechanic if I had to. But I can tell you with certainty that if I was given a shop full of tools all to myself I couldn't fix my fancy sports car if it broke.
If you take your car into the shop be worked on, do you want the guy who talks like he knows what he's doing working on your car or do you want the guy with all the certificates on the wall that's PROVEN he knows what he's doing working on your car?
This is the case with Mr. Sitchin and his books. He talks a good line but has no credentials to prove he's anything more than just a fanciful talker.
Mr. Sitchin graduated from the University of London, majoring in economic history and he was a journalist and editor in Israel. How does this make him an expert in ancient Hebrew and the old Testament? In Sumerian culture? IMHO, this is a classic case of someone learning enough about an ancient language "to be dangerous". He absolutely sounds like he knows what he's talking about and sadly that fools a whole lot of people.
Like many, I was very taken initially with his ideas. But too much didn't add up. After months of research I was quite disappointed to realize that the basis of at least some of his theories (the ones I researched anyway) were too full of holes to be true.
There is an upside though - this a GREAT fictional story!
Real seekers of truth will check multiple sources and validate claims from many different sources. Do this and in time you will find the truth.
If you are looking to be entertained, look no further.
A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING..........2007-09-13
The book somewhat confused me because of some claims. The author also states that the reader should read his other books to understand this book clearly. Nevertheless, I still admire Zecharia Sitchin for all his efforts.
A Keeper.......2007-09-06
Buying a book is one thng haveing it be worth the storage space another. This is worth the storage space.
Creative .......2007-08-27
Sitchin can spin a tale of fiction that is inspired to say the least. He is universally hated in the astronomical, archaeological, and historical communities for his attempt to pass pseudo science off as fact. If fact is not what you are after, then buy this book and invest in a tinfoil hat.
A little disappointing ****** SPOILER ALERT *******.......2007-08-21
I've read all of Sitchin's books and was always pleased at the conclusion of each one. They were like adventure quests of hidden knowledge with the worst case scenario being a nice scifi story (and what a story!). This one left me wanting. I believe he just wanted to put his two cents in about 2012 even though he doesn't think it will be a date that anything significant happens. I think he's got a better theory floating around in his head but didn't want to share it for whatever reason. The beginning of the book is a bit boring as he has to tell the back story. The middle is more interesting with more detail about the tales of the annunaki and their petty power struggles. The end was a bitter disappointment to me. His theory on the davinci last supper painting, in which he thinks the space between jesus and mary/john is where elijah should be and the missing cup being the grail that elijah took, is just lacking. To me the alternate grail theories make more sense and have better documentation. Obviously this book is a must read if you've read the rest of the series as how can one not read the supposed last one but it doesn't hold up to his prior standard. When does Sitchin think the annunaki will return? Sometime in the age of pisces .... and that only leaves up to anywhere from 100 years from now to about 800 years from now depending on if you are going by the math or by sight.

Perfect Catalytic & Summative Work for Our Time.......2007-10-07
This is a remarkable book that was given to me as a gift by a Dutch entrepreneur who has himself been exploring the potential for higher energy and good intentions among individuals and groups. Although it has no bibliography, the story that it tells is quite remarkable and quite valuable as illumination and explication of the only viable path for a sustainable future for mankind, diverse species, and the planet.
I list other books below, in several categories (limited to ten hot links by Amazon, sorry), but would hasten to add that if I had to go back in time and read only one book to clarify for myself both the misguided negative energy path I have been following, and the ease of adopting an open good intentions energy sharing path, this is that book.
The bottom line on this book is that faith, blind faith, is not empowering, it is merely a panacea. Consciousness is the real experience; achieving higher consciousness is what the scriptures mean when they say "the truth shall set you free." At the end of it all, this book encourages all well-intentioned individual to "lead the many to righteousness."
I will summarize the nine insights to help those who might be skeptical of the value of this book, and would emphasize there is no substitute for "being there" with the book in hand, digesting its message page by page (very well presented by the publisher).
#1 Critical Mass. While the title emphasizes the number of individuals who are reaching critical mass (Cf. Cultural Creatives), the insight is about one's becoming conscious of coincidences that are not really coincidences, they are good intentions becoming manifest.
#2 Longer Now. This title naturally reminds us of Stewart Brand's Clock of the Long Now but is more pointedly about thinking in time in millennium terms, and more specifically, the fall of grace when the church was abandoned for science, and science led to secularity, and neither proved capable of understanding, much less managing, complexity (See also Collapse of Complex Societies).
#3 Matter of Energy. This insight focuses on the need to learn to perceive invisible energy (quantum physics at core, universe is pure energy). See also the DVD, What the *Bleep*). I especially liked the zen-like aspect of this chapter, on the energy that is generated from perceiving beauty in all its vividness, on seeing mini-environments, and on understanding that the physical universe is responsive to our intentions and expectations (See also The Social Construction of Reality, for a more academic approach).
#4 Struggle for Power. At the intermediate stage of development, humans compete for energy rather than realizing that collaborative or collective intelligence can create infinite energy, infinite wealth. Violence results, negative energy undermines the confidence and capabilities of groups (e.g. the five billion poor). This is where most of us are now.
#5 Message of the Mystics. Here the author emphasizes the role of mystical experiences in helping individuals make the leap from the past (see next item) and into a future of high consciousness that is inherently positive, forgiving, open, and engaging. The ability to receive and to give energy in a catalytic way, rather than draining energy in competition, is emphasized, as is the reality that love gives energy, and all forms of love are to be nurtured. The chapter emphasizes that the universe can provide all the needed energy to all without scarcity or competition, provided that mankind evolves to this higher consciousness of collaboration and sharing.
#6 Clearing the Past. In an unexpected twist, this chapter focuses on the family and the eras of parental control over children with good and bad results, generally emphasizing the bad as the parents competed in shaping the child. The author emphasizes the need to clear out the past, recognize the "dramas" that one plays out, and finally, in reconciliation, discover that inner direction and good intentions in accomplishments are all that are required to "live" righteously and happily.
#7 Engaging the Flow. Consciousness allows engagement, empowerment, and interactive evolution, the need to enjoin the negative, recharge often, stay full of energy, and stay in love with all things.
#8 The Interpersonal Ethic. Following up on 7, this insight opens by stating that love keeps us healthy, and that the relationship between stress or lack of love and disease cannot be underestimated. (Side note: I have noticed with interest that the Catholic Church is now teaching that sex after children and menopause is a form of co-evolution of man and wife, and not something to be denigrated simply because children are no longer possible.) This is the most complex and lengthy chapter of the nine. My notes include the need to recognize that fear and hate are based on misunderstanding. The chapter cautioned on becoming addicted to any single source or object of love, and to avoid at all costs treating children as anything other than young adults--eschew the myths and the adult entertainment, and go straight to the truth with children on all things. The chapter concludes by focusing on the need for every person to be fully in touch with both their masculine and feminine side, and emphasizes that love is at its best when both partners are complete in and of themselves, and sharing their completeness with one another. How we approach other people determines how quickly we evolve. Excluding anyone is negative. TRUTH is the common factor for common advancement.
#9 The Emerging Culture. In this final chapter, there is a sense of hope, an emphasis on slowing down, the thrill to be had from intentional interactive evolution (what Stewart Brand long ago recognized as Co-Evolution). This chapter focuses on the critical mass that are now enjoying their first deep intense introspection, on the emergence of the gift economy of abundance, and of full employment as necessary jobs are filled by multiple individuals. Most significantly for me as a proponent of public intelligence (decision support) in the public interest, "Constant exchange of information is our new economic orientation. Stewardship of the Earth will become integral to us all, and we can and should create Heaven on Earth. This chapter concludes that when we succeed, all religions will be clarified and de-conflicted and we will all become "one."

Why the Celestine Prophecy is a wonderful novel.......2007-09-07
So I've read a lot of the reviews on this site, and I must say I'm completely shocked at how low the star ratings are. I'm not even going to go into why I love this book, I'm just want to explain why those low star rated reviews are rubbish. Just looking at the statistcs on this book you can see how loved and important this novel is. Since 1993 The Celestine Prophecy has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 34 languages..You just don't sell that many copies of a book if it's not good! Also for the people that didn't like the way this book was written, I have to agree with you that Redfield is not master novelist but that's not the point of the book. The point is for him to get a across a message, to everyone. I was 13 when I first read this book. The lanuage is designed so that everyone can understand its message.
How I lost 10 lbs. reading the Celestine Prophecy.......2007-09-04
After reading the first 75 pages of CP, which I purchased full price at the request of a friend, I had to come to Amazon and read the reviews. Why? Because I found myself raising my voice at the book -- pouring out my best negative energy onto it -- saying things like, "This is s**t." And "WTF [my friend] did this to me."
Was I the only one upset about this awful book?
*Heck* no: enter the one-star reviewers. If there is anything 'meant to be' about this book, it is its inspiration of first-rate comedy writing by folks who wish they had back their time and money. Just read on, and you may find yourself doubled over with laughter. I was in tears at times. I've got ripped abs as a result as well.
Highlights include:
1. The guy who read the book to impress a girl (it didn't work).
2. The guy who reminds us that all of us here on earth experience the same moon phase, no matter where we are located on said earth.
3. Multiple folks who get pissed about Mayans placed at Machu Picchu.
4. The guy rolling around laughing with his friend reading various passages from the book while on tour in Peru.
5. The guy who uses the 9th insight to disappear at parties.
I recommend reading some of the book -- certainly do not pay for it, tho -- prior to reading the reviews.
To all who think the critics of this book are closed-minded or "the problem," quit looking for your higher self for sec and laugh at some of these reviews.
Interesting reading.......2007-09-01
Great book to share and discuss. Makes you think about your own life and why things happen as they do....
Mistitled.......2007-08-29
Why didn't the author discard the pretense and title this "Sweet Valley High's Spiritual Retreat"?
Book Description
"Most of what you've heard, read or been told about the End Times is wrong," says popular radio host and bestselling apologist, Hank Hanegraaff. "We have come to accept a wide range of beliefs and teachings about the future, about the ultimate battle between good and evil, about the last days, and about how our world will end. And most of these beliefs and teachings are based on fundamental misinterpretations of what the scriptures really say about the end times."
The Apocalypse Code helps readers understand what the Bible
really says about End Times, and why what we believe matters so much in today's world.
Customer Reviews:
Dispensationalists Beware!!.......2007-10-07
Kudos to Hank Hanegraaff for yet another powerful book exposing questionable doctrines which have risen to popularity within the Christian Church. In "Apocalypse Code", Hank goes through the history and forces behind the dispensationalist movement which has gained strength in the last 10 years with the "Left Behind" series. As always, Hank approaches the reading of Revalations and other Bible prophesy from the perspective of LIGHTS - the acronym explaining proper principles of bible interpretation. In the book, Hank spends the first quarter of the book just reminding the reader how to read scriptures "for all it's worth".
The book spends most of its pages refuting the dispensationalist author Tim LaHaye. This is really the whole thrust of the book. When Hank mentioned he was starting this project on his radio program, I had high hopes that Hank would not just refute dispensationalism, but go into great detail about the whole spectrum of end time prophesy interpretations. By only focusing on refuting dispensationalism, he leaves woefully short the other interpretations (biblically correct or not) and instead challenges the reader to figure it out for himself. While clearly a partial pretarist, he only briefly talks about full pretarism and pretrib/postrib interpretations and all the rest. GIVE ME MORE MEAT HERE!
I suppose such a wish from me would have resulted in a book 3-4 times longer than this one, but it would have been more enlightening and easier to have in one resource. However, "Apocalypse Code" would be a great resource for anyone who got caught in the "Left Behind" hype and found some or all of the interpretations hard to buy into and need to seek help learning that their bologne indicators were probably right.
good, but could have been much better.......2007-09-08
I had high hopes for this book. After studying the Partial Preterist view for a few years with a very skeptical mind, I became convinced. Given Hanegraaff's reputation, the length of the book, and the table of contents I thought sure this would be the definitive book to explain the position, but alas. Here are a few points
1. I think the average reader won't know anything about this view. Hank should have explained the underlying suppositions more. Still, the basics are there for anyone to investigate further.
2. It is important to learn this veiw methodically since it is so radically different from any futurist view, and remarkably different from the Amillenialist view. Hank doesn't present it methodically, rather it is presented somewhat piecemeal. Still, it does present the most important points so it is very valuable.
3. Even for someone like me who has read extensively, this book is not written particularly well. He is a bit vague and doesn't present the material very clearly. This is a style issue, not content. Still, for the person who wants to know and reads the references, it is a good beginning.
All in all, I was dissatisfied but I am glad it is out there. If this view is correct (and I think it is) it will revolutionize the thinking of believers, from what's coming in the future to our understanding of the nature of God Himself.
Hank's magnum opus.......2007-09-06
Masterful review of bible principles. sound theology and delightful use of logic and vocabulary. slightly rough on his critiques but very accurate. Not to be read slightly, moderately deep. Perfect companion for his last book on resurrection.
Adds Nothing New to the Debate.......2007-08-31
Overall, I don't think this book will have the same impact on the "end-times" movement that Christianity in Crisis, and Counterfeit Revival had on the Word-Faith and Extreme Pentecostal movements. I do think that the appearance of books like Apocalypse Code and others which challenge the prevailing eschatological view are beneficial. While their effect is like touching an exposed nerve, the end result is they are exposing some major chinks in the armor of a view that has traditionally been left unchallenged. Even with its flaws, Apocalypse Code's can have a therapeutic effect by helping those who want an pop-genre introduction to the movement's eschatological theology, its extra-biblical nature and the motives behind the personalities who are driving it.
Ultimately, I find the publication of the book to be of greater impact than it content. I see it as an indicator that pre-millennial Dispensational eschatology is no longer untouchable. As such, it's an important step in opening the debate to a wider audience. However, as for it content, it really brings no new facts to the table that have not already been published in other books critical of Dispensationalism.
[..]
Finally someone makes since about end times.......2007-08-20
Having read the bible several times and after years of hearing nothing but the "Left Behind" theory for end times, I kept wondering where they were getting this theory. I would read the supposed text to back it up and not see anything remotely close to what they were saying. I kept wondering if there were something wrong with me. It is so refreshing to have someone making sound arguements on the topic. This book is an absolute must read for anyone wanting to understand the bible. It does not answer all your questions but it points in a reasonable direction instead of a blind alley.

Book Description
Ekaterinburg, Russia: July 16, 1918. Ten months have passed since Nicholas II’s reign was cut short by revolutionaries. Tonight, the White Army advances on the town where the Tsar and his family are being held captive by the Bolsheviks. Nicholas dares to hope for salvation. Instead, the Romanovs are coldly and methodically executed.
Moscow: Present Day. Atlanta lawyer Miles Lord, fluent in Russian and well versed in the country’s history, is thrilled to be in Moscow on the eve of such a momentous event. After the fall of Communism and a succession of weak governments, the Russian people have voted to bring back the monarchy. The new tsar will be chosen from the distant relatives of Nicholas II by a specially appointed commission, and Miles’ job is to perform a background check on the Tsarist candidate favored by a powerful group of Western businessmen. But research quickly becomes the least of Miles’ concerns when he is nearly killed by gunmen on a city plaza.
Suddenly Miles is racing across continents, shadowed by nefarious henchmen. At first, his only question is why people are pursuing him. But after a strange conversation with a mysterious Russian, who steers Miles toward the writings of Rasputin, he becomes desperate to know more–most important, what really happened to the family of Russia’s last tsar?
His only companion is Akilina Petrov, a Russian circus performer sympathetic to his struggle, and his only guide is a cryptic message from Rasputin that implies that the bloody night of so long ago is not the last chapter in the Romanovs’ story . . . and that someone might even have survived the massacre. The prophecy’s implications are earth-shattering–not only for the future of the tsar and mother Russia, but also for Miles himself.
Steve Berry, national bestselling author of the phenomenal thriller The Amber Room, once again delves into rich historical fact to produce an explosive page-turner. In The Romanov Prophecy, the authentic and the speculative meld into a fascinating and exceptionally suspenseful work of fiction.

Berry could make better use of his knowledge and skill.......2007-10-06
I have to agree with the more negative reviews. There's just too much implausibility. Miles Lord is impossibly naive - for a capable lawyer - and also ridiculously lucky at dodging massive sprays of gunshots. Wouldn't happen, folks. Then, the vaguely supernatural theme of Rasputin's prophecies fulfilling themselves is not attacked as it could be. You'd like to see at least some kind of examination or rationale of how such things could be.
It's a pity, because Steve Berry clearly has lots of in-depth knowledge of Russia, both historical and present-day. Also mostly good writing skill. (Hey, I finished it, even while wishing it was better.) I loved the crisp description of Rasputin: "His blue silk blouse and velvet trousers reeked of alcohol, which tempered his usual stench, one her court ladies had said reminded them of a goat." (And goat-like he was, apparently, in many ways.)
There are some sloppy errors and oddities here and there. Miles is forced to pay a traffic fine of forty roubles, but a few seconds later the officer is pocketing his "forty dollars." Seeing a MacDonald's, the golden arches "harked of safety." Harked?? And "...once the new tsar was coronated" ..."coronated" is a non-word: should be "crowned." Coronation is just the noun matching the verb "to crown."
Some Romanovs are in the country, safe because "no-one beyond courtesans in St. Petersburg knew their faces." Hey, it's probably not their faces that "courtesans" would recognize....He means courtiers, obviously. Odd vocabulary ignorance, unexpected in the generally capable use of language. He thanks one Laura Jorstad for being an "eagle-eyed copy editor." Guess the eagle blinked a few times.
just too implausible to work...........2007-09-24
I just finished The Romanov Prophecy and while it held my interest enough to finish it (mainly because I like novels with some history in them), it's a bit of a let-down. There are too many incredulous escapes for one thing. A major flaw is we never know why the hero is targeted for assassination at the beginning of the novel before he really discovers anything and is in a good and communicative relationship with the villain. Once he discovers a secret, then assasinating him makes sense. Also how thick are you that you can't begin to suspect that you are being betrayed...for all the hero's smarts, he can't at least suspect that someone is giving his location away...and how stupid is it to go to a foreign consulate when your life has been threatened so many times and you don't know whom you can trust (anyone would meet in a public place). And how do those Russian goons get to travel so freely to and in the United States? I'm sorry, Mr. Berry....you need to be a little more logical in your thinking and you would have had a book approaching the Da Vinci Code.
A 21st CENTURY TSAR..........2007-09-15
This is an interesting and enjoyable work of fiction. As with all of the author's works, there is a historical thread that runs through it. Here, the Russian people, sick of its weak post-communist governments, have boldly decided that is time to restore the Romanovs to the throne. Yes, it is time to bring back the tsar.
Having made this monumental decision, the Russians, through a duly selected Tsar Commission, are going to choose their tsar from the distant blood relatives of Nicholas II, the last Romanov to so rule, he and his family having been massacred in 1918. American lawyers, Miles Lord and his boss, Taylor Hayes, are in Russia as advisors to the Tsar Commission, which is charged with interviewing claimants for the throne. The leading contender for selection by the Commission is Stefan Baklanov. Miles Lord is charged with doing a background check on Baklanov, who has connections with many western businesses, many of which are clients of his law firm, to ensure that there is nothing that will impugn his claim to the throne.
In his search, Lord discovers a cryptic prophecy by Rasputin that would seem to imply that the world had not seen the last of the Romanovs. Tantalizing clues in archival material spur Lord to discover more. It seems that there may be a well-guarded historical secret that has the potential to challenge and even derail Baklanov's claim. Many will stop at nothing to keep it from being discovered, which is why Miles Lord now finds himself targeted for death. As he races around Russia, gathering bits of information here and there, the body count mounts with Lord only narrowly avoiding a meeting with the grim reaper. It is, however, only a matter of time before the Romanov prophecy is fulfilled.
This is another action packed page turner by the author. There are many twists and turns in this plot driven book, although it falls somewhat short in terms of character development. Still, the historical details are well-researched. Those who like historical thrillers will find much to enjoy in this book.
Finally! A book that's hard to put down........2007-09-13
I've been searching for a long time for a book that's so intriguing that it's impossible to put down. The last book that did it was Da Vinci Code (note: not to compare these two) and I haven't found another book since. Thank God I found this book at the Borders in Washington Dulles airport. It accompanied me during the 5.5 hour ride and the next day. It's fast-paced, entertaining, and maybe the reason I love it -- full of historical details. I've always loved history and this one is no exception. I'll definitely be checking the author's other books.
Good pseudohistorical thriller.......2007-08-13
"The Da Vinci Code" made popular the pseudohistorical thriller genre. Steve Berry's "The Romanov Prophecy" is set in the near future in a Russia that has elected to bring back the tsar. It looks as if a distant relative to tsar Nicholas II is about to get elected when Miles Lord, an african american lawyer uncovers some papers, including a prophecy by Rasputin, and a letter from Lenin. Before long, Lord is hunted by russian hitmen and, with the help of a beautiful Russian acrobat, needs to find out why, and stop the conspiracy that is about to elect a tsar that will be a puppet for the mafia and international business interests.
In reality, bringing back the tsar may not seem like a good idea, but the story is still interesting. The pace is quick most of the time and the book offers lots of interesting alternate history, albeit (like the Da Vinci Code) based on old ideas.
This is the first book by Steve Berry that I've read and I will probably check out his other books.
Book Description

As the Clan slowly recovers from a devastating badger attack, Leafpool can't help but wonder . . . do her prophetic dreams mean there are even worse dangers still in store for the warrior cats?
At the same time, shadows of the past continue to haunt the forest as some old friends struggle to find their place, others appear to be lost forever, and an old enemy finds a new way to resurface in a quest for dark revenge. A sinister path is unfolding, and the time is coming for certain warriors to make the choices that will determine their destiny . . . and the destiny of all the Clans.

A Whole Lotta Buildup for Nothing (SPOILERS).......2007-10-06
I think the things that bothered me the most about Sunset was that the completely jumped-up prophecy Yellowfang fed Firestar came down to the death of a single cat. Does anyone else out there feel that if they were told, more or less, that slaughter would drown them in blood, they'd still be waiting for the real thing to happen?
Starclan: Oh no. Yeah, the cat bleeding into the lake is what we meant.
Firestar: Gotcha. Whoof, sure glad that's over.
I think I'd be yelling at my ancestors to get a handle on hyperbole, because I as a Clan leader would have enough to worry about ASIDE from dire threats of war, death, etc., etc. StarClan continually irritates me, because they react in limited ways: A) They refuse to help you; B) They refuse to lay it out pat for you, and instead throw out riddles and obscure prophecy when they DO decide to help you; C) They chide you with the fact that they do know what's coming, and man, it's going to suck, but they can't do anything to stop it; or D) Tell you there's nothing you can do to stop it, either.
And let's not forget that Warrior Code everyone's gotta uphold! There have to be 4 Clans, but not really, because there were 5, and StarClan just decided not to tell you. Warriors, if a Clan dies because of tragedy, neglect, and apathy, that's fine. But don't you dare ruin the sacred laws by making friendships that form us all into one big Clan! Don't forget that StarClan is all-powerful, except when they tell you they aren't, but block the moon out to keep you thinking that. A cat is supposed to help any cat that asks for it, but Clan leaders who don't want to lose face by admitting they have starving elders and sick kits need not obey that rule. And while we're calling a spade a spade, there's not a single good deed of Firestar's that goes unpunished or unnoticed.
The worldbuilding of Warriors is always pounded and broken to fit the plot. Surely, since there are hundreds of other books out there that are actually able to seal every plot hole, there's something better you could buy for your kids?
Warriors rocks!!!!!!!.......2007-10-04
The devastating badger attack left me stunned, the death of Cinderpelt made me cry hard, cold tears. When Leafpool got the prophecy I was eager to find out what would happen next.Later, I couldn't believe that CHEATER Tigerstar was still after Firestar, with his sons Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost to help him(Brambleclaw didn't want to kill his leader). When Brambleclaw had to kill Hawkfrost to save Firestar it made me feel joyful that he was dead.Overall, I love this book.It screams awesome!!!!
Great book.......2007-09-16
My daughter is 12 and loved this book. She is hooked on the whole series.
Sunset:: Great Summer Reading.......2007-08-23
Sunset was a great book. It was a lot different from the other books, with very little fighting and twists. It's slower paced, making this great summer reading. A lot of it is about life in the Clans more then battling some higher evil. It's very good, and the plot isn't so in-your-face big. It's the bunch of different plots that are the undertone of the book that make this so very good. Plus, to keep us action-lovers happy, there is a great twisted-minds type plot, and the outcome will have you reading it over and over just to have it sink it. Hope you like it! A great ending to the prophecy.
Excellent doesn't even say it all!.......2007-06-26
I fell in love with ALL of the warrior books from the very beginning and each of them has been (in my opinion) five star books. This one met my expectations all the way! I must say that I thought Erin Hunter summed up the series quite well and left me waiting to read "The Sight".
The four clans: ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, and ShadowClan have made their journey to their new home for some time now and many things are starting to unfold in slow motion. Leafpool, the ThunderClan medicine cat has been having visions and they say:
"Before there is peace,
blood will spill blood,
and the lake will run red..."
Leafpool is still not sure what it means but all in all she's got a bad feeling about what's going to happen. Mothwing, a medicine cat that doesn't believe in the great StarClan has a new apprentice...but how will she teach him if she doesn't believe in StarClan?
As dangers unfold Leafpool See's BrambleClaw and his half brother Hawkfrost. They're talking to their dead, murderous father, Tigerstar...
I hope that you read this book and enjoy it as much as I have!
Book Description
The prophetic movements in church history and in contemporary life are fed by two mighty streams: the prophet, whose revelation is primarily verbal, and the seer, whose revelation is more visionary in nature. While the role of the prophet is familiar, less is known about the seer dimension. To many people, these visionary prophets remain mysterious, otherworldly, and even strange.
Knowledge dispels misunderstanding. Join author Jim W. Goll on an exciting and insightful journey into this lesser-known dimensionthe visionary world of the seer. You will discover the prophetic power of dreams, visions, and life under the open heavens.
How does visionary revelation "happen?" Can it be trusted? Where does it fit into the life of the church today? Can any believer become a seer, or is this a prophetic dimension reserved for the specially-gifted? The Seer answers these questions and will move your heart and stir up your hunger for intimacy with God, because The Seer's goal is to reveal the man Christ Jesus!

Be warned this book will pull at your soul!
Dreamers...Get this book!.......2007-03-10
Jim is an excellent teacher on this visons, dreams and God Encounters. If you believe that God speaks to you in the night-get this book. It will enlighten you about how the Lord speaks to us. This is a true tool for prophets and anyone with the Prophetic Gift.......2007-01-07
This book is an excellent tool as a handbook for the prophetic, and I would recommend that it be used as a training manual for the novice prophet. If you want a clear understanding about how the office of the prophet functions or about the gift of prophecy and its operations within the Body of Christ, then I would suggest strongly that you purchase this book.
Excellent Reference on Prophecy.......2006-07-23
This is a very powerful book on the gift of prophecy. Goll's writing has been cross-referenced with scripture throughout the book which gives creditabilty to this study. This book particularly helps those who have received the gift of prophecy giving a deeper understanding about the power of God and the purpose of visions in ministry.
Seeing vs Interpreting.......2006-06-30
As God has led me on an sight filled path since 2001 the difficult part has often been discerning, "What does this mean?" and "What do you want me to do?". Thankfully Christ has often carried me and kept my path in tune with His intentions despite my glaring imperfections. This and the spiritual fruit that ensues is what a relationship with God through Christ is all about.
Jim (who I am convinced deserves the spiritual name "William") does an excellent job of collecting together the many facets of the prophetic that help us 1) understand current day prophets and keep their words in perspective as they try their best to turn the pictures they see into words and 2) seek a relationship with God where he is at the steering wheel whether we receive these giftings or not.
I notice that Halo isn't as of yet capable of writing a positive review about any book concerning the prophetic and I urge others to ignore that review. Give grace like Christ to folks like me that are not perfect. Once you do that, you can begin to see the earnest hearts for Christ and his bride and the amazing work God his calling is "sons" to.

Best Beth Moore Yet.......2007-10-08
I have done numerous other Beth Moore studies (David: A Heart Like His, Jesus, the One and Only, To Live Is Christ, etc.), and so far, the Daniel study is my favorite. Beth has a unique way of making ancient Biblical texts extremely pertinent to today's world, and the Daniel study is her best example of this yet. One caveat: the DVDs that go with this study are much more critical than they usually are. In the past, my group has done the homework sessions on our own without watching the DVDs, and that has never been a problem. However, for the Daniel study, Beth relies heavily on the DVD sessions within the homework, so the DVDs are pretty critical. Daniel is a book that deals with some challenging subjects (prophecy, etc.), and her explanation of these events in the lectures are enormoulsy helpful in understanding and applying the truths of the Book of Daniel to our lives.
I would definitely recommend this study for anyone that wants to invest the time in deepening their faith, but be warned...this is definitely an in-depth study that requires a definite commitment of energy and time.
Daniel: Life of Integrity, Words of Profecy.......2007-09-30
It's an excellent Bible study. The best I've had so far!! I'm enjoying it a lot. I recoment to any Christian regardless of denomination.
Fabulous, life-changing study!.......2007-08-21
This is the best Bible study I have ever done. It has been life-changing. It is completely re-training my thoughts and actions to be more like Jesus Christ's. Beth Moore provides excellent insight to the lessons to be learned from Daniel in Scripture and also give great encouragement and pushes you to learn! It's GREAT!!! Also, it's great for new believers, those questioning and considering following Christ, and those who've been Christians for ages.
Daniel Study Guide.......2007-08-15
Beth Moore does a great job with her lessons and her study guide is easy to use. The only drawback is that it is hard to write in because of the spine. It would be easier to use if it had a spiral spine so that you could lay it flat.
Daniel: Lives of integrity, words of Prophecy.......2007-05-25
This is a good work book to follow Beth's series on the book of Daniel.

Shaggy dog story.......2007-09-16
I really enjoyed the "Celestine Prophecy" so I went ahead and read this follow-up, "The Tenth Insight". I couldn't wait to finish it, because the story seemed to go dull, quick. Too much explainations on topics about the story. If it wern't for the little bit of sense the story made, I would tell anyone looking at this book to "run for the hills".
Explorations.......2007-05-15
The Celestine Prophecy written about ten years ago had a profound effect on my spiritual understanding. Since then I have looked at relationships and energy dynamics in a whole new way. "The Tenth Insight" deepened my insights by allowing me to understand how many of the world's problems can be solved with new spiritual vision.
Lately I had been looking for current inspiration in a book that carried in a tradition similar to James Redfield. I found it in Nexus: A Neo Novel
"The Celestine Prophecy" started the trend in uncovering trends for a new age and crystallized it into a vision. That vision is carried on today in "Nexus" through the journey of people to a spiritual retreat. All of these books together show that we are reaching a greater awareness.
Like "The Celestine Prophecy," "Nexus is also growing among spiritual individuals ready for a message of transformation. Each one of us can share in the spiritual vision present in these books and also tell others about them.
Spiritually we are reaching a critical level and the message found in books by James Redfield and currently in Nexus: A Neo Novel is helping in our spiritual growth.
A Spiritual Adventure.......2007-04-21
James Redfield's The TENTH INSIGHT is a spellbinding Spiritual Adventure filled with suspense and spiritual wisdom.
Redfield captures the true spiritual essence of our life purpose. He has woven a parable into a map for and enlightening spiritual journey.
A truely inspirational book.
If you liked the TENTH INSIGHT then you will also enjoy Nexus: A Neo Novel
The Tenth Insight.......2007-01-28
A great sequel to the Celestine Prophecies. Make sure you read them first to get the full impact of this book.
The Tenth Insight: Holding the Vision.......2007-01-24
I loved the use of parables to engage my attention in reading this book. I can't wait for the movie!
Book Description
Cross James Merrill, H. P. Lovecraft, and Carlos Castaneda -each imbued with a twenty-first-century aptitude for quantum theory and existential psychology-and you get the voice of Daniel Pinchbeck. And yet, nothing quite prepares us for the lucidity, rationale, and informed audacity of this seeker, skeptic, and cartographer of hidden realms.
Throughout the 1990s, Pinchbeck had been a member of New York's literary select. He wrote for publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. His first book, Breaking Open the Head, was heralded as the most significant on psychedelic experimentation since the work of Terence McKenna.
But slowly something happened: Rather than writing from a journalistic remove, Pinchbeck-his literary powers at their peak-began to participate in the shamanic and metaphysical belief systems he was encountering. As his psyche and body opened to new experience, disparate threads and occurrences made sense like never before: Humanity, every sign pointed, is precariously balanced between greater self-potential and environmental disaster. The Mayan calendar's "end date" of 2012 seems to define our present age: It heralds the end of one way of existence and the return of another, in which the serpent god Quetzalcoatl reigns anew, bringing with him an unimaginably ancient-yet, to us, wholly new-way of living.
A result not just of study but also of participation, 2012 tells the tale of a single man in whose trials we ultimately recognize our own hopes and anxieties about modern life.

Mystical Journey..........2007-10-06
Aloha...2012 is an exciting adventure from page 1. from quantum mechanics to amazon ceremonies the human mind wonders. To the bizarre trip on LCD where everything seems in tune, again the mind wonders. The here. The now. That is where we find our greatest inspiration. Get ready to challenge yourself. Maybe even those around you...
disturbing stream of consciousness, his and mine.......2007-10-05
Picked up the book via synchronicity, wanted to read it straight through but the information written in a free flowing quasi stream of consciousness style, is so dense and light at the same time, upsetting in many ways, that I'm only covering about 50 pages per night. I do not find "bad editing" but an intentionally unconventional style that matches subject matter. The passages relating crop circles, psychedelics, Mayan calendars, ETs, mixed with personal life experiences come across like a long one sided unforgettable conversation with some interesting stranger in a train station. Does not answer the question, "So do we all die in 2012?". It is provocative, a think-for-yourself-if-you-dare book. 5 stars if it was ever funny.
Errrr...Pinchbeck is channeling Quatzalcoatl for something like 3 pages?.......2007-10-01
This book is well written but basically a recent history of Daniel Pinchbeck's life. Basically, Pinchbeck discusses at length his interactions with several chemically based halucinations, describes himself as a ancient eastern king, and breifly mentions a channeling event from Quetzalcoatl. If you are looking for revelations of the 2012 kind try viewing the free videos from project camelot on the web...better content and more closely related to 2012 than this personal account.
Conundrum City.......2007-09-17
Here is a remarkable author who is probably smarter than 99 percent of the world, who has bravely participated in adventures than 99 percent of the world would run from, who has a vocabulary larger than 99 percent of the world... and yet who writes a book that gives 99 percent of readers nothing to hold on--it's as if Pinchbeck is so enamored of his own brain that he feels all he has to do is regurgitate whatever's inside without metaphor, simile, explanation, guide--without anything at all--that might say to the reader, "Yes, I know this is tough stuff, and I want to help you through it." It's a crying shame, because there are so many extraordinary ideas, intelligent asides, and excellent theories in here that should reach the general public as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, until the author is more kindly disposed toward his readers, his work is simply too inaccessible. I wish and hope that some generous editor or friend could step to the plate and help him.
entertaining and thought-provoking - but hard to take seriously. .......2007-08-26
I found this an interesting read. It discusses a wide range of topics, and even though he changes subjects very frequently within the same chapter, it was done with smooth transitions, as if part of a conversation, and it was easy to keep up. I think I would've taken the book much more seriously if I wasn't under the impression that he had developed a kind of obsession for one of the characters towards the end of the book, based on pure infatuation and manifested through the overuse of psychedelics, consequently "experiencing" wishful and hopeful delusions. I don't know what was the bigger tragedy in the book: her painful indifference towards him, or witnessing the author loose himself to the overuse of psychedelics. I wish him well.
This was a very entertaining read, nonetheless. I very much enjoyed it, and read it in a short period of time because of that.
