Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description

A traditional source of sexual titillation for adult readers, fairy tales historically boasted licentious themes before being cleaned up for the consumption of children in modern times. Seasoned erotica author Mitzi Szereto restores the explicit sex in these 15 tales — and adds some provocative surprises of her own. Here the bawdy humor of French fable meets the sublime eroticism of ancient Chinese myth; a not-so-virgin damsel weds a Prince Charming with a shoe fetish; Little Red Riding Hood discovers Grandma’s bed is open to any stray wolf; and a Japanese monk stumbles onto an S/M scene behind a forbidden door. Each tale is prefaced by a brief introduction telling its history and the sexual culture in which the work was originally composed.

3 out of 5 stars Obvious and Not Terribly Erotic Reworkings of Fairy Tales.......2006-03-07

I adore fairy tales and erotica, so when I saw this book I bought it immediately. While this collection has riffs on fairy tales that are laden with explicit sex, the stories are not erotic. The style of writing seems to delibrately undercut eroticism and/or distance the reader from it. For example, instead of exploring the potential sexiness of someone with a foot fetish, the story mocks the fetishist and his princess for having a prince with a thing for feet. The retellings of stories are also quite trite and obvious. I got bored with this book, and really had to force myself to finish it. I would not suggest reading this strangely unsexy book.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!!.......2005-06-12

If you're hard-pressed to find some truly literate erotica, be hard-pressed no more. Mitzi Szereto's Erotic Fairy Tales is a diamond among what is typically a lot of cheap paste. Having graduated from her gothic erotic novels as M. S. Valentine, Szereto shows herself to be in fine form with this sexy and often humorous collection, which she's based on classic fairy tales as well as some obscure fairy tales. She also provides introductions outlining how each tale came into our modern literature -- introductions which are well worth the price of the book alone. I'm not surprised to see the number of clone books that have cropped up since the success of this one. However, none can even come close. Szereto is a writer who is making some real headway in proving that erotica can be read and enjoyed by intelligent people.

5 out of 5 stars Ecstatically recommended!!!.......2005-06-07

From Cinderella to The Magic Muntr, Mitzi Szereto regales us with her unique and classy style in these glorious erotic retellings of classic (and obscure) fairy tales. Be prepared for the unexpected as you find out exactly why Little Red Riding Hood was such an object of attention. Sometimes rude, always entertaining, the tales never fail to surprise and titillate. There may be copycat books out there by other writers, but why settle for hamburger when you can have steak? Szereto is a true original.

5 out of 5 stars A collection for intelligent readers.......2005-04-29

Having read a number of interviews with author Mitzi Szereto, I can see her point about erotica as literature and erotica as porn -- and no, they are not the same thing. Clearly some of these so-called reader reviewers for this book were looking for porn. Well, Erotic Fairy Tales ain't it. There's a lot more going on in this delightful collection of stories than pandering to those who can only read with one hand. If you want entertainment, eroticism, literature, and yes, even a good laugh, get this book. If you have the intelligence level of a pea, give it a miss.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Book.......2005-03-17

This book was one of the biggest disappointments I have had while purchasing erotic fiction. It is poorly written, not in the least arousing or erotic, and lacks all redeeming entertainment value whatsoever. If you want to be turned on, DEFINITELY do not purchase this book. If you want to be amused on any level, watching food cook in your microwave would be more entertaining and artistically fulfilling than reading this.

This book is a collection of different erotic tales from various ages and cultures. From Asia, the Mediterranean sea, Europe, these stories will scintillate you, shock you, and amuse you, but they will probably all arouse you. A great book to shock guests when found on the coffee table, my copy was once left on top of the piano during a play. It drew a number of comments, the school I was then attending was somewhat conservative.

I picked up The Morrigan to read on a 2.5 hour road trip......I read all the way there, all the way back and then stayed up that night until I finished it. The author's motto is "A Goddess is a woman that remembers her power" - she couldn't have nailed that any closer to home! I haven't been able to get the premise off of my mind in days - it's made me change the way I think about things, people I know, what I believe and how I act and think. This book will touch the lives of SO many people that are a little bit "tuned in" to their own inner powers!

Book Description

The Kamasutra is the oldest extant Hindu textbook of erotic love. It is about the art of living - about finding a partner, maintaining power in a marriage, committing adultery, living as or with a courtesan, using drugs - and also about the positions in sexual intercourse. It was composed in Sanskrit, the literary language of ancient India, sometime in the third century of the common era, probably in North India. It combines an encyclopedic coverage of all imaginable aspects of sex with a closely observed sexual pyschology and a dramatic, novelistic narrative of seduction, consummation, and disentanglement. Best known in English through the highly mannered, padded, and inaccurate nineteenth-century translation of Sir Richard Burton, the text is presented here in an entirely new translation into clear, vivid, sexually frank English, together with three commentaries: translated excerpts from the earliest and most famous Sanskrit commentary (13th century) and from a twentieth-century Hindi commentary, and explanatory notes by the two translators. The lively and entertaining introduction by Wendy Doniger discusses the history of the text and its reception in India and Europe, analyses its attitudes toward gender and sexual violence, and sets it in the context of ancient Indian social theory, scientific method, and sexual ethics.

3 out of 5 stars Kama Sutra by a Controversial Figure.......2005-03-20

I am not at all sure what readers are expecting from a thousand-year-old document like the Kama Sutra with such remarks below calling the work "outdated" or asking for an edition replete with erotic art. Fundamentally, "Kama Sutra" is a historical document. This is not a mere catalogue of sexual positions. It is a survey of sexual behavior in the region now known as India. It is the product of an India in which sex was as much a part of spirituality as yoga or meditation. When Vatsyayana composed his work, he was speaking within the context of a society that held notions about sexuality that may seem foreign, bestial, mysogynistic, sadistic, and bizarre to us with our modern conceptions. All of this is manifest in this work, and thus we must view it in such a context.

Here we have a translation by Wendy Doniger, collaborating with Sudhir Kakhar. Doniger is perhaps the most controversial figure in religious studies, today. At the very heart of the controversy, however, lies a simple fact: Doniger is not a Hindu. One must take her writing in this context, whatever your religion may be. Her views and opinions are those of a woman who grew up in a (psuedo-)Judeo-Christian society, who pursued quite a large chunk of her formative academic years directly following a period of extreme social conformity (thus prompting an explosion of pseudo-Freudian, sexual fascination in the academic community - much of which is manifest in her work), and who does not neccesarily believe in any of the pillars of the Vedic religion.

With this in mind, it is easy to see why her work has created such dischord in the academic and religious community. Her work is interesting, at the very least. She does seem to have a sexual fixation in much of her work, and she approaches the religious sciptures outside the spiritual context out of which they were born. She analyzes scripture in much the same way literature students analyze Herman Melville or Shakespeare. Usually they bring up interesting patterns in the work, but whether one agrees with their argument depends on how cerebral you believe the author capable of being. But, again, she is not a Hindu - one must not read her work expecting it to be the work of a devotee.

I do not find much in this translation to be upset about - it seems to be a fair representation of the work; it checks out alongside a Hindi version I have, and the Alain Danielou version (which I highly recommend!). Whatever the case may be, for a casual, discriminating reader this will probably be more than satisfactory in terms of accuracy. There is not much a non-academic reader would gain from the correction of any esoteric mistakes that may occur in this work. I do not have access to the original Sanskrit text, so I cannot vouch completely for the accuracy however.

What is lacking is an understanding basic writing skills. Much of Doniger's work suffers the same malady - she is simply not a good writer. Her writing emerges with the dry aplomb of a person who has spent too many years in academia. When she attempts to be poetic, it emerges trite and even more quaint than the Victorian Richard Burton translation. Case in point, the very first words: "When the wheel of ecstacy is in full motion, there is no textbook, no order." Rather stupid-sounding, no? Most readers will find the text somewhat of a chore to get through.

I recommend Alain Danielou's "Complete Kama Sutra" - taken from a French translation of the work - which is actually much more readable than this. This edition is fine, however readers should keep in mind the Doniger is often accused of misinterpreting Hindu scripture and her skill as a translator has often been questioned. It would be worthwhile for someone with a more intimate knowledge of the Sankrit original than myself to see how Doniger's translation holds up. The casual reader, however, probably won't be bothered if Doniger isn't completely accurate.

1 out of 5 stars Unsound.......2004-06-04

This is an unsound work like other Indology texts of Wendy's, as has been shown by Michael Witzel.

Wendy Doniger has joined hands with Sudhir Kakkar (who knows no Sanskrit and one wonders how he could have been of any help) and produced another unsound translation of an Indian text.

Book Description

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him…as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

5 out of 5 stars i could NOT put it down.......2005-04-13

I absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down from the moment it came in the mail. I think, though, you would have to be open-minded to what the book has to offer to appreciate it. I love tales of medieval times and this book just absolutely made my day by offering much more than that :)

5 out of 5 stars GENIUS.......2004-11-04

For many, the concept of this book will be a turn off. But wait! S & M is alive and well and living in the castle with Beauty. Expand your mind for a moment, though: it's fiction. It's out there. Only Anne Rice could depict such a crude, erotic and lustful tale with finesse. Brilliant! Open your mind, dear feminists. It's degrading and nasty ... and it's meant to be. You don't have to want to do these things ... or even be a sexual deviant. It's literature. Rice brings you into a world you'd be too frightened to enter in real life, and sorry to leave in the safe confines of your own room, sexual fantasy and fictionland. The third book of the trilogy is equally decadent: raw and fascinating. I loved these books and was sorry to see that others here didn't "get it". If you're ready to open your mind to beautiful, lyrical and wickedly sinful plot and prose, this trilogy is for you.

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. Anne, you wicked thing!

While I am all for bringing more erotica into mainstream books, this miserable attempt at erotica will only satisfy those who feel that sex doesn't belong in 'real' fiction.

Sleeping Beauty is a disturbing fairy tale. Do your research, and they're all disturbing fairy tales. They come from the days when we didn't have to sugar coat everything before delivering it to our children.

This, however, if the concept of fairy tales for adults taken to extremes. The beautiful princess languishes in the castle. Enter the Prince, literally, and let the sadomasochism begin! How his kingdom functions with absolutely no form of commerce, where eveyone is either nobility or a pleasure slave, is beyond me. This book is flat out sex, with very little in the way of the pretensions of plot. Bad writing, boring characters, and three books of a heroine who adds absolutely nothing to the story and confirms the stereotype that women want nothing more than a firm man (again, literally.)

Read the Marquis de Sade if you want brutality for grown ups. He was a brillant philosopher, as well as an erotic genius. If, however, you want to read about a few thousand spankings, "Beauty" should be your cup of tea.

2 out of 5 stars UMMMMM...........2004-06-25

A perverted twist on the tale of Sleeping Beauty. She does not end up with a loving Prince Charming, oh no. The prince that has the privalage of waking her up enslaves her! He makes her do all kinds of stuff that's degrading IMO.

My god, if I were her, I would have totally kneed him where it counts. I am by no means a prude, but this book was so degrading I couldn't even finish it.

5 out of 5 stars The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty.......2003-11-12

I have read all three books in the Beauty series and they are a wonderful insight into one of our most primal instincts. The raw passion and fear is balanced by the lushness of the world she creates. Ultimately, Beauty is seduced by everything she sees and experiences. It's a wonderful series that I feel doesn't get as much attention as they deserve.

5 out of 5 stars A CLASSIC of Victorian erotic literature ...........2001-01-25

...

This book contains two novells in The autobigraphy with 192 pages and Parisian Nights in 2 parts with 140 and 129 pages respectively ...

The erotcsim is very Grench written in Victorian style and its hot hot with delicious eductions of innocence .... When it's back in print Ill review it but its a MUST have for my erotic library ....

5 out of 5 stars Wow! Super-steamy!.......1999-07-11

I bought this book after seeing a movie version of it. If a 14-year old, sexually blossoming nymph being ravished her father, uncle and local man-of-the-cloth turns you on too, this book won't disappoint. While this book does enforce the old stereotype that girls really do enjoy rape, despite their protestations, it IS just fantasy after all, and some girls DO fantasize about rape (trust me). Of course, Belle, the main character, is not alone in all of this. Her equally luscious friend is ravished, as well, by the rapacous men of the community. I couldn't put it down; as another reviewer said, "Very Erotic".

4 out of 5 stars Good humorous erotica for almost everyone........1999-05-19

This book was given to me as a graduation present. It was the first erotic book I have read, and I am quite pleased with it. The idea of a flea who lives in a girl's private parts telling the story is quite novel, and the story is very humorous and erotic. It was interesting to see how many men the girl(s) can have intercourse with, and how. If you haven't read erotica before, this book is a good starting book.

5 out of 5 stars If you don't read this you may be missing out........1998-04-17

One of the best stories I have read in a long time. Soon as I finished it I opened the book back up to the first page and began reading again. The priest Ambrose and others create interesting plans to get to the main character Belle and her innocent friend. Additionally the flea's commentary made the book more interesting to my suprise (what could a flea know about human sexuality?) A must read, especially for women.

1 out of 5 stars primitive, bad, cheap.......1998-04-13

I really like erotic literature, but this book is just very flat and primitive: chapter after chapter a 14-year old girl is raped by the priest, the uncle, the neigbour, the farmers (of course she learns to enjoys it): this is not erotic, this is just cheap and ordinary porno.
I don't even believe that this was written in the last century: they must have had better taste then.
