Over the centuries, doctors have tried countless therapies to battle mental illness--from shock therapy to drilling holes in the head--and have had little success. In Remarkable Healings, Dr. Shakuntala Modi offers a revolutionary psychotherapeutic treatment that dips into the controversial realm of past-life regression and demonic possession. It might sound like she is straying outside the bounds of credible psychiatry, but compared with some of the methods her peers still employ, Modi's therapy is conspicuously humane, preserving the patients' physical health and concentrating on repairing their problems at a fundamental level.
Interestingly enough, Remarkable Healings is not based on Modi's own religious or spiritual beliefs, but is pieced together entirely from the reports of her patients, who discover under hypnosis that their psychological and physiological problems stem from supernatural causes such as trauma in a past life or the interference of a discarnate entity. The picture that emerges is an odd mixture of Christian motifs involving God, Satan, and hell combined with other ideas such as karma and reincarnation. Modi is the first to suggest that this milieu may simply be a construction of her patients' subconscious, but stresses that treatment based on this system has a much higher success rate than conventional chemical and talk therapy.
Remarkable Healings could be seen simply as well-written entertainment revealing some of the darkest aspects of the human psyche, or as a source of instruction for defending against demonic possession, or even as a message of inspiration. However, perhaps the most far-reaching effects of Remarkable Healings will come from those therapists who are willing to set aside their aversion to unconventional methodologies and pass on the remarkable healings that Modi has discovered. --Brian Patterson

Healing for a New Age of Civilization.......2007-09-08
There is no other way to describe Remarkable Healings by Dr. S. Modi than to say it is completely extraordinary, and that it is a timely gift of great insight into the nature of the human mind and spirit. It is a book that should be read by, not just doctors or psychitrists or age-regression therapists, but by all human beings.
Dr. Modi is a woman of genuine pioneering spirit who, though having acquired all the conventional credentials as a psychiatrist, was dissatisfied with the meager results of traditional talk therapy and decided to employ hypnotherapy to gain more direct access to a patient's subconscious. In this process, she happened to discover that hypnotized patients would begin spontaneously describing what they believed to be their own "past lives," in which they had experienced various traumas that seemed to be causing the debilitating symptoms and illnesses the patients were trying to cope with in their present lives. By addressing these past-life traumas apparently surfacing from some part of the patient's subconscious mind, Dr. Modi discovered that she could effect remarkable, almost total cures for her patients within very brief periods.
Dr. Modi avers that she does not know if these past lives reported by patients are real and that she herself has no belief in reincarnation, but she does believe that the therapy is very important because it yields extraordinary cures that have lasted many years for many patients.
As she continued to work with hypnotherapy, she discovered that her patients started spontaneously describing that other deceased people were living inside them, that is, that spirits of other people (e.g., relatives, ancestors, friends, strangers, etc.) were somehow indwelling them. And this became perhaps the major focus of Dr. Modi's work--i.e., working with earthbound spirits who, for reasons of either obsessive affection or otherwise vengeful resentment and hatred, had become trapped/embedded within the patient's body, --and, further into this research, working with "demon" spirits who explained (through the patient) that they existed under the direct thrall of Satan and were assigned to carry out Satan's instructions, both directly and via other earthbound spirits, to make each patient as miserable as possible.
Consider the following paragraph from p. 196 of her book:
"My [hypnotized] patients describe having from one to as many as ten or even more--sometimes even hundreds--of earthbound entities in different parts of their bodies. One patient, as he looked inside himself, described seeing hundreds of human spirits. It looked like a "beehive" to him. Even when I work with so-called normal people, almost all of them find one or more human spirits inside them, even though they did not have any obvious physical or emotional problems."
What is further fascinating here is that Dr. Modi's patients describe, as the therapy progresses, that the liberation of the earthbound spirits is not that of being "cast out" into some nether darkness, but one where angels are summoned who escort these spirits out of the patient's body away into higher realms of the spirit world where they can undergo healing.
What is especially remarkable in all of these patient descriptions of indwelling earthbound spirits and angelic beings that could be summoned to deal with these fixated spirits is that the patient descriptions were basically identical, regardless of their diverse cultural, racial, religious, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Skeptics may criticize that these results are probably due to some sort of "confabulation" or other idiosyncratic artifact of hypnosis, but it is clear from Dr. Modi's writings that such criticisms do not apply at all.
Make no mistake--other noteworthy writers/practitioners have addressed similar realities regarding earthbound spirits, e.g., Emanuel Swedenborg in The Universal Human, Carl Wickland in Thirty Years Among the Dead, Edith Fiore in The Unquiet Dead, and, most recently, Unificationist shamanic healer Daemonim. But Dr. Modi has given us a remarkable, profound and stunning written record of research into the revolutionary healing possible through Spirit Releasement Therapy. Her book characterizes a critical aspect of the vision that will be required to usher in a new age of civilization in the 21st century.
Remarkable Healings, A psychiatrist discovers roots of mental and physical illness........2006-11-03
If I could only keep one book in my library on this subject, I would keep Remarkable Healings. Everone should read this book, because much of the information I feel pertains to all. I certainly can relate to so many things that Dr. Modi writes about, and have passed this information on to my psychiatrist. At one time in my therapy,my doctor called Dr. Modi, and she was very helpful. Because I am an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person)
I now can convince other people that I am not crazy, just psychic. Of course it doesn't matter to me anymore what other people think, because now I have the answers to all my questions. God Bless Dr. Modi.

Attachments of Darkness are real, and can be removed.......2004-11-26
This book looks at attachments of darkness, spirits, and how they suppress the body and mind. There is good and powerful information here. I have read many books on the subject, and have been trying to fit in where alternative medicine and these "things" that I know fit together. If you want to go even further, about where these things come from, and more precise methods to "dis-attach" them, pick up Dr. Snow's book on alternative medicine, hands on healing and prayer power, called The Power of Divine, a Healer's Guide on Miracles. The changes that occur often include "undiagnosisable" medical and emotional problems disappearing. Lives change because of this information, and it changed mine. Read these books!

Better than Newtons work as it goes further, but still not.......2003-09-08
Dr Modi's work takes Newtons work so much further in identifying 'lost souls' and imbalanced thought-form attachments as responsible for some of our past life experiences and our pain and suffering. However, this should be the start as even this work does not go far enough to help the reader truly understand what is going on.
It was only when I read Shopping For Spirit Part Seven and Eight (albeit a few times) that I began to make more sense of these writings on the 'Soul' and the 'afterlife' represented in these writings. Reading these articles helped me to make the best use of the information presented in these books and helped me to understand how a lot of the information presented through these type of books represented the 'astral afterlife' where lost souls end up, the 'Middle Place' as Jesus referred to it, and were not describing the real spiritual afterlife at all.
This 'afterlife' is merely a replica of physical life and has nothing to do with the real afterlife that every soul should enjoy.
When armed with this understanding, these books then become a plethora of good information, rather than being one of directing our emotions and beliefs into the astral (archon) thought-form reality. See www.equilibra.uk.com - articles section. They are free to download.
These articles helped me to make the most of the information in this book. Hopefully Dr Modi will take this work much further.
Book Description
Memories of God and Creation Remembering from the Subconscious MInd Shakuntala Modi, M.D.
Psychiatrist Shakuntala Modi uses the technique of interviewing hypnotized patients to gather "memories" of cosmic and spiritual events--things that human kind has always sought to understand. After compiling case studies, documented with transcripts and observations of several dozen hypnotized patients from diverse religious, ethnic, and educational backgrounds, Dr. Modi found a remakably consistent body of ideas and material manifesting through her patients. Modi's research takes a radical step toward proving that ordinary people have access to incredible information: cosmic memories, memories of God and creation. -Astounding new research on past lives and hypnotherapy from a board-certified psychiarist
-Uses hypnotherapy as a medically-accepted and proven means of gathering information stored in the subconscious mind.
-Documents the remarkably consistent testimony of dozens of hypnotized patients about the origin of the universe, the creation of human souls, the nature of the spiritual workd, and the mysteries of reincarnation, death, and the afterlife.

Knowing God.......2007-01-10
There is so much amazing stuff to be considered from this. It opens the mind to consider the spiritual world and what is happening there, through the eyes of so many different people. I knew alot of this and still learned much I did not know.
Memories Of God and creation : rembering from the Subconcious Mind.......2006-11-10
I experienced this book is truly superb and an enlightened accurate treatise as to the development of individualised conciousness and creation.
OUTSTANDING!
Heavily laced with the author's personal prejudices . . ........2005-11-24
While this may seem to be an honest look at God and creation through the eyes of hypnotized subjects, this book is a radical departure from the major body of material on the subject. It is judgmental, and seems to be the hypnotic regression parallel to the New World "Translation" of the Bible. By way of explanation, the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses, with absolutely no Greek, took the Bible and changed the wording in places which conflicted with what he wished to teach. He then called it a "translation". Shakuntala Modi has taken everything she's gotten through her practice, eliminated everything that didn't agree with her theology, and put the remainder into her book.
If you want a clear picture, devoid of personal bias, not filtered through a theological sieve or the 1950 version of the DSMII, I would recommend Dr. Michael Newton's groundbreaking books "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls". He bent over backwards to avoid any personal bias. The result is perhaps the most important books I've ever read. Having a thorough familiarity with Newton's work, and the works of many others like him (though none achieve quite the impartiality of Newton), one gets pretty clear pictures of things, including God and creation. To then read Modi's work is a shocker. Surely there are sound reasons why her work and results depart from the results of many other researchers in the field. Perhaps, and most likely to me, she approaches patients with her personal theology, prejudices and beliefs marching before her. If she starts with a strong bias (which seems evident when you read her stuff), she is going to get material which lines up with her personal world view. Rather than allowing the information to change her, she has allowed herself to change the information. Save your money and order Newton's books instead.
This is a piece of literature that will open your eyes!.......2005-07-13
I love this book. It had opened my mind and eyes to an entire new world that I had a feeling existed that this book confirmed. I've always seen life in many different ways that no one else in my sphere has. After reading this book, I went to rediscover myself again and went to a past life regression thereapist. I wish I could have met Dr. Modi in person, I'm sure she would have been a valuable tool.
I recommend this book to anyone, whether you believe in past life regressions or not. All I can say is read this book with an open mind and live your life with an open mind. You never know unless you try.
The pitfalls of hypnosis.......2004-06-15
I am disappointed by the other reviews on this site. They are ignoring the single most striking thing in this book. They have failed to notice an elephant in the refrigerator. They peek behind the elephant in order to get a slice of American cheese, and they have failed to take stock of the elephant.
This book says that nearly all of us are possessed by evil spirits who answer to Lucifer.
One problem with hypnosis as a tool for uncovering hidden truths is that the hypnotist can lead the subject. The subject doesn't know if what he is seeing and reporting is true. It might be coming from the imagination. And any leading questions by the hypnotist can take the subject on quite a ride.
For example, if I hypnotized you and then asked you if you were possessed by Satan, perhaps you would say yes, perhaps you would say no. But you don't know. Your imagination picks up the ball and runs with it.
I would have to see the actual transcripts before I could even entertain the possibility that the author's central tenet is worth considering. And I would have to take a peek at the room, and interview the subjects to determine their preconceptions. On the face of it, this seems absurd. It reminds me of Salem, Massachussetts. Time to start burning the witches again.
I believe that this book is well-intentioned but misguided superstition and fear.
I strongly recommend the works of Michael Newton. He is another hypnotist. I suspect that his techniques are more pristine, less suggestive. His clients report that spirit possession is probably impossible - thousands of his clients have said they never saw any evidence of it. Not one of his clients reported one case of spirit possession.
Further, his clients have never verified any contact with a Biblical character, not Lucifer, not Satan, not Beelzebub, not Beetlejuice, not Caspar the friendly ghost. Guess what - those characters are in the realm of fiction.
BOO!!! Did I scare ya? This book is medieval.

"No effort has been spared to make these little volumes as attractive as possible to readers: the paper is of high quality, the typesetting immaculate. This play was one of the first examples of Indian literature to be seen in Europe; it attracted considerable attention (among others, from Goethe), and indeed pained surprise that such a sophisticated art-form could have developed without the rest of the world noticing. A good deal of that surprise will be revived by the hitherto untranslated Kashmirian recension.

The Recognition of Shákuntala is a play that scarcely needs introduction. Among the first works of Sanskrit literature translated into European languages, its skilful plot of thwarted love and eventual redemption has long charmed audiences around the world. Shakúntala's story is a leitmotiv that recurs in many works of Indian literature and culminates in the master Kali·dasa's drama for the stage.

Very simple, yet very deep..........2003-11-27
Although the whole book is excellent, the multiplication chapter is the crowning achievement. Shakuntala teaches you how to cross multiply any two numbers in a very simple, straightforward way that is easy to learn and easy to do. And if you already know how to do Chisanbop (Fingermath), you will have a very powerful tool to do large multiplication problems without paper or pencil. She also does a ton of good stuff with all the other basic arithmatical operations. An great book that should be part of anyone's math library.

Book Description
This book describes non-invasive imaging with quantification of function as the basis for diagnosis of various hepatobiliary diseases. In-vivo bile labeling with technetium-99m HIDA agents allows diagnosis of various hepatobiliary diseases associated with bile formation and flow. Since functional imaging possesses the inherent capacity to detect diseases early, long before morphological changes take place, there is potential for early treatment and full functional recovery. An etiologic diagnosis is often possible when quantitative functional changes are integrated with imaging findings. Unlike most current imaging textbooks, which describe changes in morphology as the basis for diagnosis, Nuclear Hepatology emphasizes the importance of integrating alterations in both morphology and quantitative physiology as the basis for diagnosis of liver and gallbladder diseases.

Book Description
The art of Kalamkari painting is one of the oldest among the traditional arts of India. Drawing upon a repertoire of well-loved epics, Kalamkari is full with richness of colours, simplicity of narrative and precision of detail in its presentation, that remains unparalleled by other art forms of this genre. In this present book Shakuntala Ramani brings out the salient features of a little known textile tradition and shows how this ancient textile craft deeply rooted in religion has adapted to social changes and political upheavals, evolving into a secular and broad-based craft to meet market demands and changing cultures through the ages.
