Feline breeds 2 - the man within.......2007-07-09
As a lover of paranormal romances with some good sex scenes, Lora Leigh's books certainly fit the bill and then some! The idea of the human animal hybrid is not new, but I love Lora's take on the idea. My interest was piqued initially because I like wereanimal stories and I thought Lora's were of that type. I enjoyed the books (I've read a few now)and althought some of the sex scenes went further than I was used to (or quite comfortable with) I can see that they fit the context of the storyline. I will certainly continue to read this author.
21st Century Woman.......2007-07-07
Tabor and Roni's story is off the hook! Roni and Taber is the newest Breed couple hit with the mating frenzy. It makes Tabor all he man and Roni strong and fiesty. One of the most memorable lines for me was when Roni demanded Taber to tell her what gave him the right to allow her to do something. Taber response is truly the tone for the whole book...."When I took you to the floor and mounted you, I took the right to protect you as well. Mate."
Although you can read this book out of the series order, I highly recommend reading Callan's story first in Tempting the Beast and segue into this one.
The erotic scenes involves [...] - so if this makes you blush.
And the romance scenes are so compassionate. I especially appreciate how Leigh brings up other characters from other books in this series which gives you the sense of really being a part of their family and their world... also you are hooked in reading their story as well.
Enjoyed Breeds 2 .......2007-07-05
I really enjoyed reading this book. It has an excellent blend of exotic, romance and action to keep you interested to the end. I can't wait to read more of the Breeds story line.

every woman and man should read this book to understand how the game is played. one word to desribe this book is brilliant
Required Reading for Aspiring Macks.......2007-08-06
What Is It About?
This is Tariq's follow-up to the art of mackin and does a good job of completing the package. It also talks about male / female dating dynamics and relationships.
What Did I Get Out Of It?
Tariq appears to have made this book to cater to his non African American audience and does a good job of translating the game for all. I got some additional info on non club related game and an expanded list / definition set on the various types of females and males out there in the dating game.
The Good News
Another excellent easy to read book from Mr. Nasheed.
The Bad News
There is relatively little bad news concerning this book. It is a bit short and I leisurely read it over the course of a weekend but, I consider that a good thing. Tariq is short and to the point and doesn't attempt to sugar coat things.
The Bottom Line
This book does a great of rounding out the series and cleans up what The Art of Mackin left out. Get this to complete your lesson in mackin.
Big Mackin Style.......2007-05-24
another great book my Tariq. really breaks the game down. there are many haters out there that want to hate on the title of the book because they cant say anything about his material. he speaks the truth and many people cant handle it. great book
The Mack Within.......2007-01-29
I ordered this book to keep up on my knowledge of "game" and this book did not disappoint. It was filled with information that would keep anyone, in the dating scene, on their toes. I have read the book cover to cover and continue to read it to ensure, I stay on my toes. I recommend this book to anyone, man or woman, who is still in the dating scene. It is not a pimp book of any sort. But an informative book on how to look at people as a whole to choose the right person with whom you are compatible. And always remember, "Never take anyone, at face value!" Because everyone has an agenda. NEO_SOUL_06
Very interesting and informative perspective........2007-01-03
I bought three of these books. One for myself. Then, after reading it, for my son (20yrs), and for my daughter (19yrs). The information contained in this book is exactly what I wished I had known before learning the hard way. If you are aware of someone who doesn't have a father figure to run down some of the finer points of GAME, I would recommend turning them on to this book.

Water World.......2004-09-10
I first heard of the late Jacques Mayol from the now classic cult movie "The Big Blue". Judging by this encyclopedic work, the real Jacques Mayol was a more interesting character than his celluloid image. "Homo Delphinus" is clearly a work of love and a beautiful book. It is published in a large glossy format with stunning photos. It is difficult to classify the book as it is a combination of science, semi-science, ecology, philosophy and mysticism. Mr. Mayol is successful in producing a touching work that summarizes his life long romance with the aquatic world and his hopes and visions for the future.
As I said, the book is encyclopedic - Mr. Mayol covers a wide range of topics- and this is also one of the weaknesses of the book. At times I felt that the author was rambling a bit. Perhaps a good editor would have helped Mayol be more focused.
The translation is not always smooth. From the book itself it is unclear if the translation was done from the original French, the Italian version or both.
I was very interested to read that Mayol did not take kindly to the fact that freediving has become a type of extreme sport. He feels that this is dangerous and misconstrues the real spirit of apnea diving.
I would recommend this book to anybody interested in the oceans, marine mammals or diving.
If I could, I would have rated the book 4 1/2 stars.
Disappointing.......2002-03-22
I am a great admirer of Mr. Mayol. Since a child I felt always impressed about his contributions to science and conservationism. However, I just felt so disappointed when I read Homo Delphinus. Through it, he tries to cover many topics, but in such a superficial way that it made me anxious for not getting into any point at all. And his theory about the "homo delphinus" is only a collection of cliches and general thoughts.
With respect to the book itself, it lacks the quality of modern books and the photography has been poorly incorporated.
I am sure many people will love this book, but I expected far more from such a remarkable man as Jacques Mayol.
A MUST.......2002-01-01
Being a diver and a fan of the sea, having met Jacques Mayol the guru of breath-hold dives in Oct 2001 in Elba and upon learning that this famous book was now available in English, the next day I procured one from this site. Having since learnt of Jacques's passing on the 22nd of Dec 2001 I feel that anyone who dives or simply loves the sea and its creatures should get hold of this very remarkable book - before it goes out of production.
A fantastic book with lots of beautiful photographs that takes the reader through Jacques' early life, his reactions in the form of questions and answers to the movie "The Big Blue" and his techniques on apnea, his travels and inventions and his views on the purity of the ocean and man's endeavour to demolish anything remotely beautiful. A fantastic book to have and to keep for future generations of a man who seems to much prefer living with the creatures of the sea than with homo sapiens on land.
interaction between one man and the sea.......2000-04-19
Jacques Mayol launches first book in the United States
Idelson-Gnocchi Publishing is pleased to announce the release of Jacques Mayol's first book published in the United States, "Homo Delphinus - The Dolphin within Man". This large format, gorgeously photographed volume, is the culmination of a lifetime of personal oceanic experiences by Jacques Mayol, easily one of the most accomplished free divers of his or any other generation.
Jacques Mayol, holder of a dozen world breathhold diving records, was the first man to descend to 100 meters (330 feet), a feat he accomplished in 1976. He followed this with yet another record breaking drop to 105 meters (346 feet) at the age of 56. A Frenchman born in China, Jacques Mayol now splits his time between homes on the island of Elba in Italy, the island of South Caicos in the Turks & Caicos and a full life in Japan. He is a practitioner of Yoga, Zen and other Oriental life philosophies, essential disciplines he incorporates into his free diving practices.
Homo Delphinus demonstrates an exceptional personal vision of the interaction between one man and the sea. It also provides a superb explanation of how the separate disciplines of science and philosophy come together to allow these extraordinary free diving explorations of the ocean. This theme goes hand in hand with Jacques' deep abiding love for the ocean and it's inhabitants, particularly dolphins. He spends much of the book exploring both the affection and the similarities existing between man and dolphin, a heartfelt search for "the dolphin dormant in all of us".
The adventures in Jacques' life were chronicled in the landmark Luc Bresson film 'The Big Blue'. He has been the subject of numerous national and international broadcast interviews and print features. Jacques is also one of the world's leading authorities on 'apnea', a phenomenal physical discipline which reduces heart rate and respiratory functions, thus
allowing him to perform his remarkable diving feats. Free diving aficionados worldwide recognize and thank him for his insight, his developments of the sport and for his accomplishments. At 72 years of age, Jacques still revels in the ocean, swimming and diving virtually every available day.
Idelson-Gnocchi Publishing is based in Napoli, Italy where it has been publishing specialized Scientific Publications since 1908. The company now has offices in both Italy as well as in Florida.
Exciting........2000-04-19
"how exciting it was to read about how it felt to come up from a dive, to have his own experience written down on the page, just the way he experienced".

Book Description
Graham Greene's first published novel represented for the author one sentimental gesture towards his own past, the period of ambition and hope. It tells the story of Andrews, a young man who has betrayed his fellow smugglers and fears their vengeance. The Man Within offers a foretaste of Greene's recurring theme of religion and the individual's struggles against cynicism and the indifferent forces of a hostile world.
Customer Reviews:
Fantastically Entertaining.......2005-04-27
I'm usually leery of favorite authors' first and last books. They never seem to be up to the standard of the books that come between. In Graham Greene's case, his last novel, "The Captain and the Enemy," certainly holds true to that rule of thumb. However, "The Man Within," his first, holds its own with any of Greene's fabulous later novels. This has all of the elements that would later become Greene trademarks: the conflicted and flawed male protagonist, the murky mood of intrigue and corruption, the delightful local flavor. You can just see Graham Greene novels filmed in crisp black and white (as many of them were). "The Man Within" is an excellent intro to Greene's work for a Greene neophyte and a welcome treat for die-hard fans.
Greene's masterful debut.......2004-12-22
Francis Andrews is on the run because he informed against a gang of smugglers of spirits - of which he used to be a member - by means of an anonymous letter to the customs, resulting in the death of a ganger who was shot during a set up. Now Carlyon and his men are after Andrews to take revenge. One night, as he is fleeing from his pursuers, Andrews comes across a cottage in Hassocks where he is given shelter by the beautiful Elizabeth Garnet.
As Elizabeth slowly grows to trust Andrews, she learns from him about his past, his violent father, smuggler and owner of the ship "Good Chance" with which he used to transported brandy to England. He also tells her how, after his father's death, he met Carlyon who suggested that he joins the crew. Andrew then tells Elizabeth how deeply he detested these men because he could never ascertain himself in front of them the way his father had. Betraying them was thus a way for him to show his fellow smugglers that he "is of importance now".
It is then that Elizabeth suggests that Andrews go to Lewes the following day where the Assizes are to be held and bear his witness to show his courage. Indeed, a difficult and dangerous decision for Andrews to take...
A powerful novel about courage, cowardice, love and faith. It is commendable that Mr Greene achieved to write such a mature novel at the age of only 23.
Excellent first achievement.......2003-03-25
*The Man Within* follows a fellow named Andrews through his horrifying experiences of paranoia and self-doubt, made all the worse by the fact that some people want to kill him. Andrews is wanted by the police in connection to the murder of an officer, pursued by his former co-smugglers because of his betrayal, and loathed by the locals because of his testimony against a group of popular criminals. There is only one person - the angelic Elizabeth - who provides him with any support, but she also creates for Andrews his biggest dilemma: to face death for someone whom he may never be able to love, or to find a new life, but without the one person who would make it worth living.
The writing does not show Greene at his peak, but it does demonstrate an early ability to craft brilliantly complicated characters and problems of morality in a manner similar to Dostoevsky..
It's obviously a first novel.......2003-03-17
"The Man Within" by Graham Greene was Greene's first published novel, and, I think, the reader can tell. The story centers around a man, Andrews, who has been involved in smuggling with some blackguards, and who has fled the group after a crime was committed. He flees right into the home of a woman, Elizabeth, who is in the process of burying the man who has been her guardian of sorts. She convinces him to testify against the other smugglers at the trial, and he goes to the city to do so. When he returns they profess their love for each other but face further dangers together. In the end, Andrews must face the negative influence his father has been on him in his life and the actions he has committed in reaction to that influence.
While there were some interesting facets of the book and its characters, I took a long time to get into it. The beginning, particularly, is VERY slow moving. The novel lacks the things one loves Greene for; the subtly written yet overwhelmingly powerful struggles the characters engage in with morality and/or religion, as well as a narrator who is unreliable and yet sympathetic.
A classic Greene novel.......2000-05-23
The Man Within is a fantastic book about love and fear. It has elements of action, courtroom drama and good old-fashioned romance. The main character constantly assures us that he is a coward and unworthy of the love given him by the farm girl Elizabeth and also of his former associate whom he betrays in the begining of the book, yet he continues to perform uncharacteristic acts of bravery. His motives for these acts of bravery bring into question the true nature of courage and greatness. This book is surprising at every turn and yet every event, and every conversation makes total sense. It's a difficult book to put down, and you'll probably want to read it again.

A MUST READ BOOK!!!.......2006-02-20
The Freak Within was a great book to read. I read it in a few days because the book kept me on the edge of my chair wondering what was coming next. It talks about real life events and secrets that men and women keep to themselves or share very little of. It's a book that you have NEVER read before! THIS IS A MUST READ BOOK!
Yes, there is a little freak in all of us........2006-01-19
A Freak Within was a gem. It was an easy read that kept me wandering what would happen next. I didn't want to put the book down even when I knew I had to. A great additon to all libraries.
Not Quite There.......2005-12-19
Everybody has a little freak in them..or do they?
The Freak Within is the story of five individuals - Kia, Ari, Phyllis, Simeon, and Maine. Kia, Ari, and Phyllis are friends. Kia, a hairstylist, is a married mother of one. Ari may be business savvy, but can't seem to get a grip on her personal life. Phyllis has to fight daily to keep her legs closed. Simeon is Kia's husband. Maine is a longtime friend of Ari's.
Based on the title alone, I couldn't wait to delve into the pages of this book. Page after page after page, I kept asking myself the same question - "Where is the FREAK?" Aside from the issues of one character, the title was lost on me. The book had potential, but fell short. A few characters were underdeveloped and quite a few things I found to be inconsequential to the story. I applaud the author for her effort and would be willing to give her sophomore novel a try.

The Freak Within is the best book I've read this summer. It's a definite page turner and more. This is not your average novel that carries on and on about the same thing. This book has a variety of settings and occurrences that everyone-and I do mean everyone can relate to. The author's play on words was exquisite and very creative. This book is more than meets the eye. I recommend that you purchase your copy today. Your collection is not complete without it.

Book Description
There are things in this world which defy rational explanation. For example, what makes a sane and intelligent person commit acts of brutality beyond the normal boundaries of humanity? If you asked the person next to you to kill or torture the person behind them, few, if any, would be capable of doing so. However, throughout history, there have been those who have found themselves able to sidestep the moral problems these acts involve and enact pieces of barbarism. Has someone or something been influencing their minds and taking away their normal boundaries? What separates a person from others and allows them to commit atrocities? What makes their minds accept bringing death and torture to others? Maybe the question is not what, but who
