I love Abraham Hicks! Heartfelt gratitude to Jerry & Esther Hicks for sharing Abraham's messages with the world. This book is right up there in one of my all time favourites. This book has given me so much joy because it demystefies the universal laws or Attraction, Deliberate Creation and Allowing. I've referred to the book often for reminders whenever i'm facing a difficult situation and it never fails to uplift me to a higher vibration. I also live my life with more certainty and faith in God's loving kindness.

I have been teaching and working in the field of alternative health for over 25 years. I ran a school of holistic health for eleven years. In all the courses I have studied and taught intention is the most powerful ingredient in everything. The information provided by Abraham is clear and precise and easy to apply in one's life. For some it is hard to comprehend that it is channeled work, but if you apply the teachings you will find it very transformational and healing.
The trick of course as with everything is to apply the teachings daily and make the teachings a habit. Just like yoga, tai chi, meditation or any practice you must apply them daily to receive a benefit. This may have been the best book I have ever read, but then I say that after I read any of the Hicks books. They are all life changing, life enhancing. All of us here at work read and talk about these books daily. We even have a weekly 'book club' where we discuss things we have read and practiced. These are our lifelines. Delving deeper and deliberately.......2007-10-01
It took a closer reading of this book to fully appreciate it, having read 'Ask And It Is Given' and 'The Law of Attraction.' If you are new to these teachings, I recommend, you read one of those first in order to fully appreciate what is presented here. This book focuses on the NOW, in making sure you stay aligned with your higher non-physical self(and thus source energy/God/universe), moment by moment. Exercises and examples are offered to help you get back on track towards alignment no matter what your emotional state. Yes, there is some repetition from other books, but that is what it takes to "get it". And while I was initially disappointed that some of the same processes discussed in 'Ask..' were repeated here, I realized that these were specifically chosen given the theme of this book, and the fresh examples offered, provided another incentive to use them! For those who have understood the basics, and then get stuck occasionally, or want to ratchet up their alignment with source, this book is a must. For me, it reinforced some fundamental points:
i) that more important than want you desire, is how you FEEL about that desire, and the vibration you offer.
ii) feeling good about something or a situation is more important than being right or justified in your negative emotion/judgment of it.
iii) nothing is more important than feeling good.
(For those who are critical of 'feeling good' or see it as selfish while African children are starving, recognize that unless we feel good, we are unable to be of benefit to others or focus beyond our immediate needs, let alone anyone else's. Also, as we move up the emotional scale toward peace/love/joy, our perceptions of 'self' is also more likely to change to embrace all beings as part of the interconnectedness that is the Universe, and one with Source. This is more likely to result in creating more compassionate deliberate intentions and manifestations to benefit all beings!
Ultimately though, this book is about making the most of our time in this physical plane, using our consciousness and thoughts to keep us in alignment with source energy in order to experience joy and abundance.
Interesting, but..........2007-09-08
The channeled Abraham says nothing you couldn't actually have thought of yourself, and at times I get the distinct feeling that I have read this or that almost word for word elsewhere in much older books.
Now this may be 'coincidence' but we all know that pure coincidence does not exist. I doubt very much that all of its content was channeled, it just doesn't have the right feel and twist of phrasing about it.
Nevertheless, a nice book as an introduction for the novice to the magical approach of living life. To those new to the material this book can look like be and end all of learning, but it isn't, and there is much more interesting stuff out there. Once you have mastered the basics - feel free to progress and have an adventure in cosnciousness. Don't just consume, be.
I can also recommend The Wizards of Consciousness: Making the Imponderable Practical and any of the Bartholomew books like "I Come As a Brother": A Remembrance of Illusions. these too are easily accessible.

Attention Jerry!.......2007-10-05
First let me say that the BOOK 'Ask and it is Given' has changed my life. Truly, the ideas and understanding of how life works which is expressed in the book of this title is profound and absolutely life-changing. For that I am eternally thankful that it managed to cross my path at the perfect time (early '05) when I was ready for it.
The Audio form of the book, however, is a different story, sad to say. Although it contains the same words, it suffers from the incumbrance of Jerry Hick's drab, expressionless, speed-reading-on-steroids delivery. Jerry, I mean no disrespect. I am sure you are quite talented and very capable in many other areas of your life. But please take the hint of so many reviewers of the Abraham audio material and PLEASE DON"T READ! It's like someone trying to play music without having any natural ear and feel for it... it's painful!
When I first encountered the book, it wasn't long before I realized it demanded to be read SLOWLY, to give frequent pause so that the ideas expressed could sink in and take root within my soul. That is how this book should be verbally delivered. That is the nature of potent ideas in words. But instead, Jerry just rattles on like it was a contest to see how quickly he can get through the blessed thing. He sounds so disconnected to the ideas that are coming out of his mouth it's like he doesn't even comprehend what he is saying. It sounds more like someone hurredly reading through IRS codes ... zzzz zz zzzzzzz zzz zzzzzz zzz LOL!
Seriously, this material is much too important and valuable to be sabotaged by such an ill-suited delivery, and frankly, given the high quality of their content, I'm really surprised that Esther and Jerry would put out something as monotonous to the ear as this. Why don't they find someone who has a natural gift for verbal communication? Esther perhaps? She is quite dyanmic when she is channeling Abraham as the delivery flows with the content and gives the pauses that are needed for reflection. The sad thing is that many new people may not get the real benefit from the ideas in 'Ask and it is Given' if their first encounter is with this audio book, because they probably won't last long enough to even get through the first disc.
My advice: Forget the audio but definately get the book: The book is phenomenal -as are the other audios of Esther's channelling of Abraham. These ideas truly are the Keys to the Kingdom. And let's hope Esther and Jerry care enough about what they're putting out there to read these reviews!

I felt I wasted my money on this CD audio book. It feels like it's "CUT & PASTE" from book 1. Book 1 is excellent and I've listened to it many, many times, so the minute he begins a new topic, it's verbatum from book 1. I thought this Part II would expand on book 1 and cover topics that hadn't been discussed.

I LOVED the book, have read it several times, and I pick it up every day in fact in the way others use the Bible. I ordered the cd so that I could listen to it in the car and on my Ipod for daily inspiration. I'm wildly disappointed to report that it is read sooooooooooooooo fast that I can barely comprehend it -- this from someone already completely familiar with the book. I've never heard an Audio book read more quickly; it's like the author is speed reading it. I couldn't be more disappointed.

I purchased the book and CD from Amazon and since I opened the CD's you can't return them so I am stuck with two copies. Contacted Esther Hicks thru her web site and was offered something comparable, also to incur more shipping and handling and no even exchange was offered.
Just beware when you buy from Amazon, there is no guarantee from the publisher, distributor and author themselves if you don't buy it from them direct - so be clear on your point of purchase and what you are giving up by purchasing thru Amazon. I have nothing against Amazon and have been a long time customer, I do feel they should place a disclaimer on their site regarding point of purchase - voids guarantee.

First of all be warned: This book is about sex. And it is about sex in a very concrete way. It is about the erotic aspects of sex. It is not concerned at all with the mechanical aspects of sex and it has certainly no pornographic qualities whatsoever.
"Mating in Captivity" contains an amazingly useful and at the same time literarily piece of couples counseling. Esther Perel wants to help bring back eroticism and a sense of the poetic to long term relationships. Her book is not only quite practical on a wide range of aspects of this problem field. It transports itself a little of this feeling.
Like most counseling books it contains examples of the Jane and John type. For those of us, who sometimes get a little annoyed of the usual stereotypes get a pleasant surprise: her characters breathe. On the other hand, if you now expect true literature you might be disappointed: it is still a counseling book.
I do highly recommend this refreshing guide for the interested audience.

This book came at exactly the right time for me. It addresses an issue that I have been thinking about for a while. Sex in committed relationships. Why is it that even though you grow closer and closer to your partner that the passion in your sex life just dwindles away?
The author of "Mating in Captivity" seems to have found the answers to that. Esther Perel is a couples therapist and with the help of some case studies from her practice she illustrates how different aspects of our domestic life are holding us back from experiencing earth shattering passion with our life partners.
This book delivers new insights that other books on sex in marriages usually lack. Instead of advising to do whatever it takes to get closer to your partner and schedule time for sex, it suggests to emphasize one's independence and uniqueness. This in turn will create more of a gap between partners which seems to be necessary in order to have great sex.
I was hoping for a little more of guide on how to reconcile the erotic and the domestic. But then again Perel's intention wasn't on writing a How-To- Book. Nonetheless this book will open your eyes if you've ever wondered why your married sex life is nothing compared to your dating sex life back in the days.
Some interesting perspectives on relationships.......2007-05-06
This book breaks from the traditional "better emotional intimacy means better sex" and really tries to understand what prevents couples from having satisfying sexual relationships. One new perspective is that of how fidelity or lack thereof affects a couple's sex life. Definitely an interesting, thougt-provoking read.

If you have experienced break downs in relationships that were important to you then read this book. Having been married three times as well as in two de-facto relationships I thought I knew what was happening and blamed my personality characteristics for a lot of the failures. This book enabled me to see what was going on in a completely different light. It is clear, full of interesting cases and examples and very well researched. I am now in yet another important relationship, perhaps the most important of all and believe I am handling things much better. Sure its not easy but this book helps guide my efforts and understand my feelings in a very positive way. Thank you esther!!!

some of the stories were fantastic, some were just good, but hey, isn't that the whole point of getting a collection of short stories? that way you can check out what all the authors are like without committing to a ton of books. i think the book is pretty good.
Anthologies can be tricky things..........2007-08-24
You're never 100% certain of what you're going to get. They can be great for finding new authors and/or filling in the waiting period til the next book from your favourite author. Or they can make you feel like you've wasted your time.
Although word of mouth said that My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding was an uninspiring collection as a big fan of Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris and Sherrilyn Kenyon I wanted to find out for myself.
Where it works - the stories that are set in an ongoing series. Jim Butcher's Something Borrowed is a solid entry into the Harry Dresden series. Although I'm not familiar with Lori Handeland's Night Creatures universe her story (Charmed by the Moon) still managed to draw me in, keep me interested and made me want to check out her backlist.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's story whilst not reaching the emotional intensity of Phantom Lover from the Midnight Pleasures anthology is a vast improvement on Until Death Do We Part (Velkan and Retta's story from the Love at First Bite antho.)Though I wish she would cut down on the point of view head hopping.
One other story that stood out for me was Esther Friesner's The Wedding of Wylda Serene. Whilst slow to get into it had some very witty lines that had me laughing out loud.
Having read the stories I am disappointed. Overall the anthology is okay, but there is not enough here that stands out. Maybe it's a case of trying to cram too many authors in to one book.
Anthologies I would recommend - for Sherrilyn Kenyon - Midnight Pleasures, Stroke of Midnight. For Charlaine Harris - Bite (as part of the ongoing Sookie series), Night's Edge (standalone story).
One of the best anthologies I've read.......2007-06-08
Usually anthologies are like panning for gold. You've got to sift through a lot of dirt to get the gold nuggets. This anthology, however, was the motherlode. All the stories were entertaining. Out of the nine, the last two were the weakest, but still a good short read.
I was pleasantly surprised by Charlaine Harris's contribution. I expected a Sookie story, but instead received a good vampire/werewolf story with no Sookie in sight. It is alwasy nice to see another part of the world which an author has created.
Jim Butcher was in true form with his entry. Gee I just love Harry Dresden, no matter what he is doing.
All in all I recommend this book for a short quick read. I already have a waiting list of people who want to borrow it from me.

This collection was just stunning! Great combo, some of the stories are amazingly funny and a few are very spooky. Wonderful read, but a few at a time, there is definitely some overlap of ideas. P.S. LOOOved the Esther Freisner story. But I'm biased.

I have listened to a few recordings by these authors and find this particular recording not as superior as Ask and It Is Given, Part II, The Processes. I would not purchase this item again if I could do it over.
Abraham & Vibrational Energy Concepts .......2007-09-05
This is a very good book on CD, and is life-changing material, if you are willing to believe in something that may sound VERY different to you. Most people do not believe in this way. "The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent" is the entire CD. Part 1 is "Living the Art of Allowing" and is a collection of 4 CDs, narrated mainly by Jerry Hicks. Part 2 is "Living the Path to Joy Through Energy Balance" and is a second collection of 4 CDs. You really want to buy both packages to get the entire book.
Abraham is a collective consciousness who speaks to Esther. She then relays the material. The material speaks primarily of metaphysical energy and its relationship to all that there is. It goes in-depth into manifestation by aligning your personal vibrational energies to match what you really want. Again, I know that's a hard concept to swallow, but that is the Law of Attraction. You really DO get what you think about. I have been studying metaphysical energy for about the last 7 or 8 years and I have seen the evidence soooo many times. Unfortunately, because of fear and control and many other negative personal vibrations, people usually think about what they DON'T want and that is what they manifest. Put simply, instead of seeing their car running smoothly on a log trip, they worry "What if it breaks down?". Instead of thinking about money in a positive way, they usually think of a LACK of money, and generally worry about it. So, they usually get what they do NOT want.
Anyway, this set of CDs not only explains the concept very well, but gives real-life examples and examples of the proper (aligned) thinking versus the non-aligned (improper) thinking, so you can begin to change your vibration to attract what you DO want. Like I said though, you need both CDs and an open mind, a VERY open mind. You also need to really work at this vibrational change to achieve successes with it. Even when you do achieve successes, it's hard to believe because we were just not conditioned to believe this way.
All that said, it's a great product and these are not the only authors talking about vibrational energy matching to manifest. What they say is right on target.
CD1, this set is slightly less than 2 and a half hours. The other CD set is slightly more than 2 and a half hours. Both sets together total over 5 hours of audio book material which you can easily listen to in the car on your way to work. These 8 CDs have the potential to change your life.
Further Insight Into The Laws Of Attraction.......2007-08-08
I have purchased and listened to all the Abraham-Hicks material available and next to the actual "Laws Of Attraction" CD, this CD has to be the most insightful in furthering the distinctions of the actual Laws of Attraction. It has been very useful to me as a coach of the material and has helped my clients immensely. I would recommend it to any student of the Laws of Attraction to help give them a better understanding of how the laws work.

It is a sad commentary that a book as long-lived, as rich and readable, and as useful as a window on life in Revolutionary America (albeit only as detailed as appropriate for a young-person's book) is trashed by "readers" (if indeed they read the same book I did) whose sub-literate spew is as empty of content as apparently their minds are.

Although the story line was very good, I was very dishearted by the use of profanity, slang terms, and the use of gory details that just didn't need to be there. I would not let my child read this book because of it. The profanity and slang terms were not needed. If you don't have time to read the book check out these pages 5, 26, 37, 49, 70, 108, 115, 121, 128, 129, 146, 168, 193, 212, 214, 222, 235, 236, 245, 246, 278, 286, 301, & 308. I know we each view things differently so you be the judge.

A great book to read aloud to one another as a family or just read by yourself. Tells the story of one boy's life in the time of the revolution of our country. He was filled with a pride that was brought low. His character developed into someone who could go on after a tragedy and be a benefit to those around him. Nothing boring in this book and will keep you turning the pages until the end.

It makes me so sad to see how many kids find this book boring. I remember reading it to death as a kid, and loving it even more when I read it to my then-11-year-old daughter (though I have to admit that I loved it more than she did). The prose is crisp and vivid, the plot incredibly exciting, and the characters leap off the page. Johnny and Rab are hot! Come to think of it, that's why I kept rereading it as a kid.
This is a book for anyone who loves to read, and maybe that's why so many kids didn't like it. From my adult perspective, I was struck by how witty and nuanced Esther Forbes' observations of life in colonial Boston were -- perhaps beyond the grasp of most kids. I came away thinking about how ambivalent most characters were about the constraints placed on their lives by the mandates of Puritan belief, yet how fundamental faith was to them. I also admired the way Forbes contrasted Johnny's two crushes, the rich and snobbish Lavinia and the honest and loyal Cilla. The scene in which Johnny finally confronts Lavinia, revealing her to be a vulnerable human being rather than a goddess -- and thus letting the air out of his crush -- is masterful.
I would categorize this book as young adult rather than children's literature. I find I really like many young adult books because they're not afraid to be about something, and they leave your head full of ideas. Of course, that's like giving your kids tofu when they want a cheeseburger. (I like tofu, too.) But Johnny Tremain is way better than tofu. Read it for your own enjoyment, and if your kids are very good, let them borrow it.
Yawn- #1 Most boring book ever.......2007-04-24
I was forced to read this book for school and literally fell asleep a few times reading it. There is no excitement or adventure in the storyline and reading it just makes you feel more drowsy with every page turn. Who wants to read about a self-centered jerk who barely gets any better throughout the course of the book? Not me! If there was a list of the worst books ever written this would remain the chart-topper for eternity!!!!!!

The cards are bright, with child-like illustrations, easy to use and easy to understand.The quotes are taken from the book - with explanations on the reverse. I would recommend the cards and the book together. Using the cards every day, helps one stay focused and keep true to the message in the book.

This book is so simple that it is hard to fathom. I have been using this ancient Hawaiian healing system and it has been working for me. In order to let go of hoping I can forgive somebody else for a perceived wrong, I just ask to be forgiven. I now know that everything exists within me and not out there. This is the second book by Joe Vitale that I have finished in record time! He has me hook, line and sinker.
I thought "The Attractor Factor" was great, but this one makes me even more of a true fan of his work.
ANYONE who buys "Zero Limits" will greatly benefit from the information it contains. As far as I am concerned, there is NO OTHER self improvement bok or guru on the market. Joe Vitale's works blow them ALL out of the water.
I can't wait for "The Key" in a few weeks!
