Book Description
Bestselling true crime writer Aphrodite Jones߳hocking new information behind the San Francisco dog mauling of Diane Whipple and the trial that has captured the nation's attention for over a year.
In January 2001, Diane Alexis Whipple bled to death in the hallway of her ritzy Pacific Heights apartment building when she was mauled by two Presa Canarios, a vicious breed of attack dog imported from the Canary Islands. After the lethal attack, animal experts testified that the dogs could not have been stopped, explaining that they had entered a frenzy called the ⑥d Zone."
New York Times bestselling author Aphrodite Jones shows that the mauling was only one part of a frightening story involving obsession, bestiality, and illegal dog rings. The dogs belonged to Whipple's neighbors, lawyers Marjorie Knoller and Robert Noel, who had been keeping them for a leader of the notorious prison gang the Aryan Brotherhood.
Jones takes us deep into the bizarre world of Paul ₯rnfed⟓chneider, a Hannibal Lechter–type character who actually owned the dogs, Bane and Hera. She explains how Noel and Knoller, after being warned about these killer dogs, brought them to the heart of San Francisco, leading the dogs eventually to murder an innocent next–door neighbor. Jones also reveals the shocking L.A.–area whereabouts of the offspring of Bane, the dog most directly involved in the mauling.
Jones is a masterful investigator and writer who has interviewed the complete cast of characters–including Robert Noel and Marjorie Knoller during their imprisonment–and can now tell the full story of what happened in that apartment hallway. Red Zone is a riveting, page–turning account of this news–making story that takes us deep into the relationship between man and animal.

Fatal Dog Attacks by such dogs as the Presa. .......2007-08-03
Sensational and perpetuates some myths regarding Guard Dogs such as Pit Bulls, Presas, and Rottweilers . In addition, the Red Zone appears to malign some Presa Dog Breeders in the USA and Canada. For a more balanced view of the qualites, temperament, and photos oF Presas and or those considering one I would strongly recommend Manuel Curto Gracia Book entitled: Perro de Presa Canario who is a breeder from the Canaray Islands and expert on this breed.
Good, but too long.......2007-07-21
this book had way too much detail that made it a bore to read sometimes.
sad and upsetting [no spoilers].......2006-04-16
The term "Red Zone" refers to the mode animals are in during the height of an attack where nothing can stop it. Therefore the novel "Red Zone: The Behind-the-Scenes Story of the San Francisco Dog Mauling" describes the actions leading up to and beyond the horrific attack on lacrosse coach Diane Whipple by two Presa Canario dogs. A gripping tale covering the accounts behind all the people and organizations involved in obtaining the fighting dogs and the subsequent trial of the victim's neighboring owners, not a detailed history of the breed or the gangs.
Starting roughly seven years prior to the attack, the author compiles evidence behind how and when individuals met and their general background information, focusing the novel's first half on the mastermind behind an illegal dog-breeding program, inmate Paul Schneider. The latter half includes the investigation and legal proceedings. The events occur quickly while maintaining a storytelling atmosphere.
While understanding the profound motivations and psychology behind those being manipulated by Paul Schneider, better editing could have reduced the oftentimes-repeated facts and notably bias remarks.
Thank you.
Hackwork.......2004-12-29
Granted, this isn't a high-end genre once you leave behind Tim Cahill's "Buried Dreams," Ann Imbrie's "Spoken in Darkness," and the best work of the late Jack Olsen. I wouldn't take too many points off for pedestrian writing.
But this terrible story at least deserved careful research, didn't it? Jones really falls down on that job, offering no substantive background on either the Aryan Brotherhood or (my particular field) dog behavior. San Francisco is home to some of the world's best dog behaviorists, and Jones even cites one of them (Jean Donaldson) in her acknowledgments, yet she winds up unable to offer any informed insight into what went wrong in these animals' breeding, training and handling. Given the notoriety of this case and the horror of Diane Whipple's death, Jones has really squandered an opportunity. If the quality of her dog-related information reflects the quality of the rest of her information, you won't find too many facts in this book.
Ms. Jones never fails to satisfy.......2004-07-15
Like Aphrodite Jones' other books, "Della's Web" and "The Embrace", "Red Zone" was a page turner that grabs you from page one and doesn't let go till the last page of the book. It's a tough one for animal-lovers to read, though.
It never ceases to amaze me how the people most convinced that the world should revolve around them are the biggest cyphers imaginable. Knoller and Noel were no exceptions. It really infuriated me how they knew these dogs were vicious but did nothing about it (I do not blame the two dogs - I blame the owners, guardians or whatever Knoller and Noel choose to call themselves. It was their responsibility to discipline Bane and Hera.) Also, I hope that the only way Paul "Cornfed" Schneider will ever leave prison walls behind is in a coffin. He does not belong in society. To call him an "animal" is an insult to the animal kingdom.
Hating to be judgmental, I was really annoyed at how fast the victim's partner replaced her. Indeed, I wonder if Diane's ashes ever did wind on Sharon's mantel piece.
All in all, interesting...fascinating...hard-hitting. I highly recommend this book.

Too much football.......2004-06-02
Ok so I know that Tim Green was a former football player so it shouldn't surprise me that this book was filled with football "talk". I know this but I still thought he went into too much detail about football and strategies. Aside from the football description(s) the book was pretty good. The only thing I would have to say is that if you don't like gory, bloody crime scenes, then this is not the book for you. The story is about a famous football player that is accused of killing the owner of the team. He is made to look even more guilty because he is having an affair with the wife of the owner. As you read along, you will see that the "killer" is a deranged psychopath who gets his thrills by decapitating his victim. So if you don't mind a few graphic scenes then you will like the book because you are not really sure who is the bad guy until you are almost done with the book and even after the book is about to end, the author gives us a surprise twist.
GREEN FUMBLES.......2004-01-29
Having enjoyed other novels by Green, I found this one to be subpar. While Green shows his football background knowledge, its use merely distracts rather than enhances this story. Luther Zorn is not a sympathetic character, and Green should be ashamed of how his book concludes. While there is a satisfaction in how the killer gets his revenge, Green seems to forget all the innocent people murdered, and he lets the villain come across as some kind of avenging angel, thereby negating what has come before.
Not a bad novel, but nothing to rave about.
Tim Green has gone to the well too often.......2003-07-09
Green's football formula is becoming tired in mixing heinous crime and/or nefarious plots with star NFL players who get bailed out by defense attorney Madison McCall. Murder hits another NFL franchise in The Red Zone, this time involving the wealth to be had by relocating the team. Even less character development and plot complexity than Green's other fiction.
The story is true. The names have been changed to protect..........2001-01-26
the guilty. Sounds like the rest of the reviewers come from a literary background, not from sports. Otherwise they would recognize this story as coming straight from the headlines of a national sports disgrace.
This is a fictionalized account of the death of the owner of the Los Angeles Rams, who many people feel was murdered by his much younger Las Vegas showgirl wife. Georgia Frontiere, present owner of the St. Louis Rams, met Carroll Rosenbloom, then owner of the Baltimore Colts, while at the home of Joseph Kennedy. Yes, the same Kennedy who fathered John F., Bobby, and Ted Kennedy.
Eventually she made Carroll, some 20+ years her senior, her 6th husband. Segue a few years, and many more notorious tales. Rosenbloom swaps ownership with the then owner of the LA Rams. Carroll and Georgia move to California. Then in 1979, Carroll Rosenbloom mysteriously drowns while swimming in the ocean. A death that has been the subject of many probes, including one done by PBS' Frontline in 1983.
Green's big problem in trying to write his story is having too much information to draw upon from real life. Perhaps this is why The Red Zone is not up to Green's normal standards.
Some reviewers thought there were too many contrivances. I offer news headlines that are even more bizarre. For example, a missing Super Bowl Trophy that the NFL had to replace (Many people reported seeing that same trophy in Rosenbloom's Bel-Air mansion).
Does that seem too contrived? Well, remember the way Carroll Rosenbloom died, a mysterious drowning? There were several witnesses who reported seeing one or more people come out of the water wearing wet-suits. Or, how about the 10,000 1980 Super Bowl tickets that came up missing, and husband #7 doing time for ticket counterfeiting income tax evasion. Or better yet, what was the involvement between the Los Angeles Rams, $20 million dollars in counterfeit money, a professional wrestler/hitman and organized crime.
To those who were football fans during the 60's and 70's it is easy to recognize this storyline. I could bore you with more, however a simple search on the Internet will substantiate this, and much more. (What ex-football player, now actor, was giving Georgia a "massage", causing her to be more than an hour late to her just deceased husbands memorial service.)
They say life imitates art, and art imitates life. However, life is much more interesting than art. Bottom line, if you like interesting fiction, this is OK. However if you want an even more fascinating story, check out the real story behind this story.
Typical of the genre.......2000-03-20
My brother's been raving about Tim Green for ages, so I picked this up. Green obviously has good insights on the NFL scene, but I found his characters too perfect and predictable (really, Tim, do you have to mention that Madison is beautiful in every other paragraph?), although the ending was decent. I've been told his earlier books are better, so I may read those. This one is okay, nothing more.
Book Description
You're probably asking yourself what the "red zone" has to do with golf. We've simply borrowed a term from football and applied it to that space on the golf course - 100 yards from the green and in - where, just like in football, you can make the biggest impact on your score. We believe we've created a program that golf has never seen, one that combines motivation to improve your short game with easy-to-follow steps for getting there.
Here's our guarantee: if you work on your "red zone" skills and follow our program, you'll see significant improvement in your scores.

This book offered nothing new. Lots of big pictures but nothing substantive. It was a waste of money. You can get more help from a monthly golf magazine.
Golf's Red Zone Challenge.......2005-09-23
I am a low handicap player and thought this was the best scoring book I have ever read!I chipped in five times in the first two weeks after reading the book. The eleven ball drill is incredible. If you need work from 100 yards and in, this is a must read. If you don't need the work from 100 in...have fun on the PGA Tour this year.
If you want to improve, get this book. .......2005-09-17

the best $25 I've ever spent.......2006-09-21
Everyone has done something that they subconsciously know they will regret later. Well, in Mike Lupica's Redzone, Jack Molloy knows that feeling intimately. He has recently sold half of the shares he owns in his family's football team to a self-righteous entrepreneur. With the sell having a negative effect on him in every aspect of his life he commits himself to obtaining his previously owned shares. With that plot the book goes from Las Vegas to the beaches of Florida and contains money, women, scandal and even a mob boss or two to turn it into a great book that you will be unable to put down after the first page. But this book isn't only just a great read it also shows you to always fight for something you want, and that even when all seems lost you can come out victorious. Overall this has been one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read and one of the best $25 I have ever spent.
Don't waste your $5. Skip this one and find another........2005-09-23
I hope Mike Lupica (Author) or his publicist is reading this. A guy with $500 million with beautiful girlfriends, luxuary box, casino in England is suppose to keep me interested in his 'poor me' storyline because another guy with billion dollars is pushing him around?
Are you nuts? You call this a book? I wouldn't use it to wipe where sun doesn't shine.
Author doesn't understand that readers are looking for characters whom we can identify with. This is the first and last time I read M. Lupica's book.
Give me back my $5!
Great sequel, love writing style.......2005-02-04
Mike Lupica has become one of my favorite authors of all time. His storylines and plots are just great, and everything comes together in the end. He keeps you waiting and wanting to continue reading, and then at the end it all pays off and he never leaves you hanging. Red Zone is no different. I dont want to give too much away that the "professional reviewers" already have, so i wont really tell about the story. Just know this: that its about Jack Molloy, the football owner of the New York Hawks, and his struggle as the owner basically. The thing that makes Lupica so great, and so readable, is how basic his writing style is. You dont hear something like "He angrily yelled" or "she obnoxiously said"...its he said she said. Very basic, but absolutely great. The ONLY thing that i dont always like with Lupica is that you cant go 2 chapters without a bar or strip club scene. But since most of his books are about sports, i dont think i can blame him, as a lot of professional atheletes probably do go to the bars and strip clubs. But anyways, Red Zone is a GREAT sequel to Bump and Run, and its definitely worth the read. Great book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
p.s....also, if you like this one look into Travel Team, and Too Far...Those are his 2 newest books and they are just great.
Very good, one of Lupica's bests!.......2005-02-01
Mike Lupica has definitely grown on me. I have read 3 of his books now, and each one was progressively better i think. The reason, is because i got used to his writing style. At first, i did not like it too much as it was a bit confusing to follow, but then i definitely got used to it. What he does, is uses incomplete sentences to emphasize his point. Here is an example taken directly from Red Zone: "That was it. She never lied, about anything. Ever." He does this in all of his novels all the way through. But anyways, back to Red Zone. Red Zone is the sequel of Bump and Run, and you really should read that one before this. Lupica does catch you up with everything that happens in Bump and Run, its just easier to follow if you actualy read it. Red Zone is the story of Jack Molloy, known as the Jammer in Vegas, and his life as a football owner. His dad was the owner of the New York Hawks, and when he died he gave half the team to Jack and the other half to Jacks twin brother and sister. Their dad gave Jack the final decision making however, so he was techinally the "head owner" (this happened in Bump and Run). Jack steps in to run the team, some things happen but i wont tell you what happens in case you want to read bump and run and to make a long story short, he enjoys running the team. Red Zone starts in the offseason when Dick Miles, the classic rich guy who gets what he wants, asks to buy Jack's half of the team. The twins had already accepted Dicks offer to sell their share of the team, so Dick owned half of the team as it stood already. Jack refuses, and then Dick comes up with a better offer. He will buy half of Jacks half so then Jack will still be apart of the team. Dick will own 75% of the team, Jack the remainder. They will be partners according to Dick. But Jack soon regrets selling as Dick gives Jack no part in the team. Thats the basic starting point of the book. Lupica then throws the reader on all sorts of ups and downs. Sometimes you are pissed off when reading it, sometimes sad, happy, laughing...everything. Lupica created such a great story, that only a genious author could come up with and have it all tie in and make sense come the end of the book. Lupica has made himself into the master of writing hilarious sports novels. Several times while i was reading the book i found myself laughing out loud for minutes at a time. Lupica is great, the book is great, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Book Description
A book about the greatest challenges facing ministry leadership: understanding and resolving conflict and facing expectations. Written in a story format, this book conveys to leaders three simple survival principles that are indispensable to successful ministry: 1) The problem is you; 2) Resistance is your ally; and 3) Change is only effective if it is the right kind of change.
Customer Reviews:
Very helpful.......2006-11-12
Internally, I don't handle conflict or criticism well. This book helped me understand why and the internal changes that I need to make even before I work on the tension that might exist between me and others. With its narrative teaching style, "Thriving through Ministry Conflict" is fun to read and easy to learn from. This a great resource that I have already given to friends.
What I needed years and years ago.......2005-10-31
Thriving is an excellent book for anyone, especially in ministry, but it is truly helpful for anyone. Let's face it, conflict is a fact of life and it is found everywhere - in ministry, at the office, in little league, at home, etc. What is so helpful about this book is the understanding that conflict does not equal personal attack. So often we take all conflict personally, what the authors call "The Red Zone" rather than professionally, "The Blue Zone."
The book is enjoyable to read as the material is presented in the form of a story about a pastor's struggle in his own church and family. It isn't a dry list of principles, but an opportunity to discover the core ideas as the main character does.
To satisfy the other side of our brain, the authors include a great section at the end of the book with plenty of exercises to apply the principles to one's own life and conflict style.
I highly recommend this book. I plan on buying multiple copies to give to friends and colleagues.
Book Description
In the Red Zone, an American journalist's account of his daring solo expeditions through post-Saddam Iraq, is a vivid, frank, and unforgettable portrayal of the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people. An eyewitness of the 9/11 attacks, Steven Vincent went to Iraq to experience the daily realities of life and death in the crossfire of the war on terror. His report is essential for understanding America's enemies and allies in the critical but confusing struggle against radical Islam.
Steven Vincent journeyed twice to Iraq, paying his own way, traveling without security or official connections, living by his wits. His four months in the war zone included a foray into the infamous Mosque of Ali in Najaf, a confrontation with Ayatollah Sistani's bodyguards, a brush with death in a Karbala bombing, meetings with assorted Western "peace activists," and run-ins with Iraqi "authorities" who alternately suspected him of being a CIA agent or a terrorist.
Vincent's encounters with doctors and cab drivers, imams and housewives, politicos and poetsand one unforgettable woman in Basraprovided him with special insight into what Iraqis think of their liberation, of America, and of the war. He describes a tormented society whose inhabitantstroubling, infuriating, yet often inspiringsurvived the ghoulish dictatorship of Saddam Hussein only to face the death cult of radical Islam.
The war on terror and the war in Iraq, Vincent concludes, are closely connected. Victory in both conflicts requires that we look with a sympathetic but unsparing eye at the Iraqi people and the whole Islamic world.
Customer Reviews:
heart-wrenching.......2007-05-03
I make it a point to read pretty much every book that comes out about Iraq and environs. Though there has been no recent shortage of first-rate books about the region, this one packs a punch like you wouldn't believe.
To tell you the truth, I haven't seen the book since I first lent it out. The guy I lent it out to lent it out to someone else and so on and on. That I have yet to get it back should tell you something.
The basic story is that Steven Vincent was your typical dingbat liberal living in the Big Apple as an art critic, believing that God was in his heaven and that all was right with the world . . . and that in particular Islam was a basically peaceful but tragically misunderstood religion.
Then September 11th happened, and in a fit of shock, grief, duty, and curiosity, Vincent hied himself off to desert lands as more or less a roaming reporter for hire.
The book relates his transformation from smug liberal to one who was truly concerned about constructing a fairer portrait of the chances for peace and progress over there.
So far, so good. And whatever you think of his politics, and whatever your position on the war is, and blah blah blah blah.
Listen: the thing that really pushes this book over the edge into the realm of greatest books I've ever read is what happened to Vincent after he wrote it. I won't spell it out here, but you can easily find out on the net.
God, knowing the real ending makes the final third of this book unbearable. Truly unbearable. Some of the most emotionally exhausting and harrowing reading I've ever done.
See, he meets this woman named Nour. And God! God! I can't take it.
Sparrow, O sparrow!
In the Red Zone: A Journey into the Soul of Iraq.......2006-03-08
Freelance journalist Vincent first visited Iraq in September 2003. While other reporters sheltered in insulated compounds or heavily-fortified hotels of the "Green Zone," he lived and traveled in the "Red Zone," that is without security and among ordinary Iraqis. In all, Vincent has penned one of the best-written accounts of post-Saddam Iraq, one of the few that captures the debates, issues, and contradictory emotions that Iraqis are juggling.
In the Red Zone fills a void left by the many think-tank pundits, academics, and journalists who wrote books in the wake of Saddam's fall, where the Iraqi voice is often lost. Vincent's account has the advantage of bringing to light his encounters with ordinary Iraqis. Among other experiences, he was in Karbala when a series of bombs killed 140 in the city in March 2004; and while traveling in Basra, he was briefly interrogated by U.S. intelligence. He makes no attempt to cover the minutiae of daily Iraqi politics but instead takes a big-picture approach.
That said, In the Red Zone has its limitations. There is little discussion of the Kurdish issue and minor errors of fact pop up--for example, the date when Iran's Safavid dynasty began.
In contrast to the usual journalistic practice of adding color to an article by including an occasional man-on-the-street interview, usually conducted by an Iraqi assistant, Vincent provides a deeper insight into Iraqis. He introduces the reader to Qasim, a Baghdad art gallery owner who, because of a club foot, managed to avoid the carnage of the Iran-Iraq war; Assad al-Abady, deputy director of the Iraqi National Organization for Human Rights; a secular Sunni woman torn between her love of freedom and the "humiliation" of having it delivered by foreigners; a Fallujah policeman who swears blood lust against Americans after U.S. soldiers kill his son; a Shi'ite taxi driver still euphoric over liberation; and a Christian woman in Basra whom Vincent later learns had been raped in her youth by Saddam's police.
Vincent also spent time with foreigners. He details a long conversation with a Canadian antiwar activist who lectured him about U.S. "human rights violations" but would not condemn insurgent terrorist attacks on Iraqi civilians or visit Saddam's mass graves. Vincent also describes a surrealistic encounter with CodePink, an American peace group, during which one member doubted that Saddam really was that bad. He also notes the Iraqi reaction to Western peace groups. "How can people accept for so long the crimes of a dictator, then rise up to try and stop a war begun to remove that dictator from power?" one Iraqi lawyer asked. "Antiwar activists should examine their consciences."

Steven Vincent's opus and the reason he was murdered.......2006-02-15
First, let me say that Steven Vincent died for this book. He was murdered because he wrote brutally honestly about the dark underbelly of Iraq, about how here (and much of the Middle East) life is cheap and what passes for culture twists minds and perpetuates continued ignorance in the majority of the populace. Steven is gone now, but his opus is still available and if you only read one book about Iraq in your entire life, then In the Red Zone should be that one book.
I read this book in one sitting, from cover to cover, all 240 pages in the span of about six hours. Everything you need to know about the war, Shia, Sunnis, Kurds, the occupation, what the future could hold - it's in here. The good, the bad and the ugly are all laid out for you. This book will be of equal fascination to both pro and anti-war readers because Steven didn't sugarcoat a thing when he wrote In the Red Zone. He didn't sugarcoat Iraq one iota and he died for it.
Life is cheap in cultures that glorify death. Steven found that out the hardest way. His death has a silver lining - Nour - his brave Iraqi intrepreter. She was shot by the same vicious parasites that killed Mr. Vincent but survived and is still somewhere in Iraq (as far as I know), guarded, silenced or both. Steven and Nour are microcosms of the relationship between America and Iraq. Read In the Red Zone. It will force you to make adjustments to everything you thought you knew. In the Red Zone is Chapter 1 in the story of 21st century. Other Americans and Iraqis will be stepping forward to write Chapter 2. Are you one of them? Which side will you step forward on?
Thank you, Steven Vincent!.......2006-02-07
Although he died while free-lancing in Iraq, I am thankful that this great journalist was able to write this book before he left us. It is an extremely interesting look at life in Iraq, the Iraqi people, and the challenges we face there. I'm sorry about his untimely death, and wish he could have stayed around to write many more compelling and inspiring books such as this one. God bless his family and bless the memory of this brave man.
A Masterpiece, A Great Writer that I Admire!.......2005-11-29
I just finished reading Steven Vincent's "In the Red Zone", and I must say this is a great book on Iraq that I couldn't find another one these days. I was deeply moved and enthralled by the author's journalistic dedication, his great moral courage, his noble idealism, humanitarian perspectives on today's Iraqi society, all along with his amazing writing skills.
Sadly, we lost a hero, a real American hero! As a real journalist, Steven Vincent sacrificed his valuable life in Iraq. And if that will waken more of our people's consciences and firm our resolves on war to terrorism, his death is not in vain!

This is a fantastic book, chock full of strong ideas to build your business. Its content is surpassed only by attending one of Maribeth's energetic seminars in person. Our organization is already reaping the rewards of following her advice, and we look forward to periodic updates with more tales of success from her clientele. A superb read overall.
Help for the Marketing Challenged or Budget Conscious.......2002-11-29
You don't have to be a marketing wiz or have a big marketing budget to benefit from this book. Maribeth reminds us all that common sense marketing tactics always work. The football metaphor serves as a good learning reinforcement and is clever. It's a quick read and loaded with great ideas. I haven't taken the book out of my briefcase and don't plan to. I refer to it often.
Scoring Big!.......2002-10-18
If you're a marketing exec and a football fan, you'll love this book. If you aren't a football fan, you will be after you turn the last page. Maribeth Kuzmeski has done a brilliant job of drawing parallels between two seemingly disparate concepts, and making both seem like a huge amount of fun!

heated anthology .......2006-08-02
"The Art of Loneliness". The woman looks out her window using a telescope to peep at her neighbors obtaining pleasure by masturbating or tying someone up until Elizabeth explains to Frances that her lover is on the phone while her spouse is in the next room doing what he does best with others rather than her. Frances ponders dreams, nightmares or realities as she understands The Art of Loneliness survival.
"Forbidden Zone". Tomorrow Choice selection nineteen years old Angelica will marry sexagenarian Mr. Paul. However, someone is beckoning her to flee as a Depraved One into the Forbidden Zone though her mother and father would be incarcerated for parental deficiencies. Escape means living her fantasy while her parents live a nightmare; staying means living her nightmare while her parents can fantasize.
"Picnic". Stella appreciates three things in life, but especially loves when they come together like right now. She cherishes rockin' and rollin' with bad boys, but her way. So having two bad boys to rockin' and rollin' with her rules is heaven as Kit and Buddy are hers to do as she feels.
"Sex in the Hamptons: The Writers' Confessions. More Stacey than Elise, this is a sort of anecdotal journal over what occurred to the authors over the past year.
As always the novelizations of the Red Diaries TV shows is a heated anthology with twists. Especially fascinating are the first two tales that have a Twilight Zone feel to the respective plots. Picnic is well written but is more straightforward while Sex in the Hamptons turns the writers into characters and the readers into voyeurs. ZALMON KING'S RED SHOES DIARIES: FORBIDDEN ZONE is steaming with sensual pleasures.
