Book Description
You May Be Commitment-Phobic If:
- You have a mile-long list of requirements for your ideal mate
- You go from one short-lived relationship to the next
- You have a habit of dating "unavailable" men
- You think many of your married friends have settled for less
- You are constantly blowing "hot" and "cold" in your relationships
For years, it was the men who had the monopoly on commitment-phobia. Today, single women are the fastest-growing segment of the population, with over forty-seven million single women in this country and twenty-two million of them between the ages of twenty-five and forty-four. Whatever the reasons -- fear of divorce, increased financial independence, delayed motherhood -- more women than ever no longer feel the urgency, or the ability, to settle down. Lucky for this growing group of women, author and former commitment-phobe Elina Furman has written Kiss and Run, the first-ever book about female commitment anxiety.
Filled with fun quizzes, first-person testimonials, and step-by-step action plans, Kiss and Run includes the top-five panic buttons, advice for curbing overanalysis, and tips for fixing negative commitment scripts. You'll also find the seven types of commitment-phobes, including the Nitpicker, the Serial Dater, and the Long-Distance Runner.
Based on the stories of more than one hundred women, this straight-talking guide helps single women conquer commitment anxiety and say yes to love.
Customer Reviews:
really helpful book!.......2007-08-21
As an older "singleton" who is now contemplating settling down with my serious other, I have been lately struck by intense anxiety and inability to make a decision about the future. I ran, not walked, to get this book when I heard about it. I found it very well-written and even ocassionally funny. It is really helpful to know that I am not alone in finding it hard to make a commitment, no matter how great my guy is and I thought the practical suggestions in the last chapter were very useful. I definitely recommend this book!
Great Resource.......2007-02-16
The information is very applicable to young people searching for answers regarding thier love life. I would recommend this book to many of my friends.
Great One.......2007-02-15
This is a great one Elina, it hit the nail on the head in many areas for me. Being able to put into words what I was feeling, I never thought that it was possible, I always thought it was the man who had committment phobia, who would've guessed it could be the woman. That was never discussed before Thanks a lot for your help!!!! Keep up the good work

Book Description
The Salinger Sisters Series spins the tales of four sisters who find love—in spite of themselves. The love—and laughs—begin in Book One, Love on the Run. For years, Catherine Salinger’s father competed fiercely against his former friend and nemesis in the advertising business, Miles Riley. These days, however, Cat is in charge, and taking her responsibility very seriously—especially now that the two companies are competing for a multi-million dollar deal with one of the fastest-growing athletic shoe companies in the world.
That’s why, when she finds out that her younger sister Daphne has run away with Riley’s youngest son, Cat vows to stop the elopement (and the potential leak of information), even if it means following the couple across the globe, and taking Jonas Riley, Miles’ overbearing, gorgeous oldest son!
Customer Reviews:
fabulous!.......2003-02-21
Loved it, loved it, loved it! I read the entire series, and this first novel perfectly sets the stage for the sisters' hilarious romantic adventures. Ideal for anyone who loves humor and romance.
Romancejunkie.......2001-07-17
This would be a great book for teenagers. I found the main character a little too wound up. The story just didn't flow as well as others I have read.
What a great romance!.......2000-10-02
I have only recently gotten into Christian romance novels, but I love them! And Shari MacDonald definitely has a gift for being able to write about such pure romance.
In Love On the Run Cat Salinger, the overly organized owner of a large advertising agency, is determined to break up the elopment of her sister. She doesn't want the wedding taking place beacause the groom's father had hurt her father many years ealier. It's fun to watch all the crazy things Cat goes through to break it off, all while being followed by the groom's brother.
Shari has an excellent blend of romance and comedy. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely funny and romantic.......2000-09-08
What can I say? This book was great. Cat Salinger, the oldest of four sisters, is overbearing and a total perfectionist. Her daily schedule goes something like, "8:37, brush teeth. 8:39, make bed. 8:40, get ready for work." She's CEO of her advertising agency, and still trying to forget the agonising breakup with Jonas Riley--who happens to be her business archrival--twelve years before. When impulsive, crazy sister Daphne runs away to elope with Jonas's younger brother, Cat chases her all the way to the Caribbean, determined to stop the wedding to one of the despised Rileys, and falls in love with Jonas all over again!
I don't think I've laughed so much in years. (Wow, saying that makes me feel old!) The crazy things that happen to Cat and daphne's awful-timing interruptions...it was just pure hilarity. Shari MacDonald has the perfect way of putting things to make her books sweet and serious and humorous all in a perfect mix. I loved this book and I know I'll be reading it over and over!
A controlling sister learns a lesson in love........1999-06-22
This is a sweet book. It made me laugh. If you are looking for a sweet book that doesn't make you think too hard, this is it.

Book Description
After a few hits off the bottle I close my eyes. The whiskey is making me numb and cozy. I could stay this way all night. Moving fast and feeling nothing. This is what I've been doing all year. Getting high, marking time. This day next year I don't know where I'll be. But I can guarantee it won't be here, on the road between Huntsville and Rainey.
Customer Reviews:
BEST BOOK EVER.......2005-01-13
I've read this book multiple times. It not sounds just like the typical life of a teenager, but it's kind of scary how close in personality the main character is to me. I've even gotten to the point where i'm underlining thing's she's said in awe that they are some of the same things i've said to other or even just myself at times. If you're my age, which is 16, soon to be 17, you'll love this book. If you're 20, you'll love this book, anyone will love this book because it's about a young girl who discovers herself, and we all have either gone through that, or are still going through that and because of that, everyone can relate.
You have got to read this book.......2004-05-26
Making the Run is the best fiction book you could ever read. The characters are really memorable. They are their own person. They don't try to be someone they're not. They do their own thing and they don't care what other pepole think.
While living in Rainey, Lu has it rough. She lives with a single parent who's hardly home and never there for her when she needs them. She has had a dream of doing something she loves doing and then one night that all changes. Then she falls for someone that she has known since she was little.
This book just sounds so real. Once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down. The more you keep reading on, the more it keeps you guessing and wanting to know what happens next. I think it's one of those books that would keep you guessing and wanting to know what happens next.
I would suggest this book to anyone who is having a hard time in their life. I loved this book so much. Out of most of the books that I have read, I wouls have to say this one was one of the best. This book reminds me of someone I'm really close to. My friend is pretty much going through things that Lu is going through.
Making the Run.......2003-10-22
In the book Making the Run author and first time novelist Henson shows a dramtic very different girl Lu. Lu lost her mother when she was little and witnessed the whole thing. Since then shes hated her father.Lu although somewhat messed up keeps her self busy with the help of her best friend Ginny and having her first real love,Jay, her older brothers band member. Lu has to deal with Ginny getting pregnant and her dad dating.Emotions start to going crazy and Lu always seems to be floating (from the drugs) a horrible tradgey tends to change Lu's life forever. Henson was writing this book to show that drugs may not always be the way to go. I recommend this book to teens mostly because it teachs you the way life is.
Making the Run.......2003-10-21
In this book there is a girl, Lu that doesn't exactly know how how to deal with life. With drinking, drugs, and sex she becomes caught up in a crazy world where she's constantly floating not really knowing anything except for one thing she wants to get out of Rainey, the small town shes stuck in, but when she find news about her best friend Ginny things start to change. After a horrible tradgedy, will she stay or leave....
Making the run is awesome! A must read!.......2003-10-21
Lulu or " Crazy Lu" is desperate to get out of a small town in Kentucky but is weeks away from graduation. She drowns out her sorrow through drugs, sex, and pictures. She has a keen eye for photography and is constantly wearing her camera around her neck, even when it's dark. When her stepbrother's old friend comes back, she falls in love. When her relationship becomes steamy, her brother and father disagree it results into abuse. At first she experiments with drugs with her best friend Ginny, then it becomes a daily ritual. Smoke. School. Smoke. Grams. Smoke. Jay's. Smoke. Drink. Bed. Making the run was a clever, enlightening, and truthful story.

Great Read.......2006-07-30
This was a fantastic read. The story was very exciting. The book combined romance with mystery. For the first half of the book I thought that this would be just an exciting book--but halfway through the time travel element was added. What a nice surprise.
This book would be a great book to take with you on a vacation. It is a perfect beach read. Just make sure you don't have anywhere to go for a couple of days. The book is impossible to put down.
Award-winning paranormal romance.......2005-09-17
Second-story man, Ian "Cat" MacPherson, is coaxed out of his luxurious retirement by his former apprentice, Alex Farrell. Alex covets the mysterious red stone known as the Milagre. Ian, however, is unaware of just how deep Alex's greed lies and he literally falls into the trap laid by his former protégé.
The story then flashes forward thirty years. Cat is sitting in a wheelchair contemplating suicide when a woman crawls through the pet door, intent on robbing him. After this startling event, he reconsiders life and offers her a meal. Soon, they are engaged in cautious conversation and Cat begins to formulate a plan to get revenge on Alex.
Run No More is listed on the 2004 Best Contemporary Romance list by Romantic Times and won a 2005 Prism Award in the Time Travel Category. It is a captivatingly fun romance with elements of suspense and the paranormal. The book manages to create realistic characters even as the storyline dips into areas beyond the mundane.
Jewel Thieves Learn about Love & Magic in this Romance.......2005-06-15
RUN NO MORE by Catherine Mulvany is an engrossing time-travel/paranormal romance that is fascinating in its originality. Since most time-travels usually send the hero or heroine back in time to Old England or the Scottish Highlands, RUN NO MORE is a breath of fresh air, setting-wise, as it takes place in exotic locales like Tahiti and Rio de Janeiro. It's also the first romance I've ever read that revolved around cat burglars on a jewel heist to steal a magic stone. And, it's the first I've encountered that uses Brazilian voodoo as a key plot point.
The characters are all interesting, from crippled hero Ian (a former cat burglar) to young Tasya, his tormented protégé and heroine, to secondary characters ranging from Ian's Brazilian and English pals to his former ex-partner, a double-crossing gambler named Alex. The storyline is fast-paced, and I even became anxious at the very end, wondering if Tasya and Ian were really going to end up together.
My only complaint about the book revolved around Tasya's abusive past at the hands of Richard, who was over-the-top as the bad guy in the story. I had no problem believing in magic jewels and time travel, but Richard's almost cartoon-ish evilness was too much for me to swallow.
Anyway, I highly recommend RUN NO MORE as a different and enjoyable reading experience. If you are like me, you'll want to book a flight to Brazil as soon as you finish this book!
What a great read!.......2004-11-27
I really enjoyed this book. It was so different from so many other romances with a paranormal twist. Ms. Mulvaney's description of how things hooked together from the present to the past was great. I loved both the lead characters - Tasya and Ian, and Paulinho was a wonderful character who added greatly to the story. The only thing that fell a little short was Richard - how he got from Point A to Point B, how he found Tasya at La Magia, how he could get a job there so quickly ... but this is fiction, and it wasn't that big a deal in the greater scheme of things. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I haven't been able to say that about a lot of the paranormals I've read recently. I guess I must be overdosing on vampires and werewolves. This book was different - wonderfully and imaginatively written. Highly recommended, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Exciting, Fun and Different.......2004-10-23
"Run No More" was a fast-paced exciting story with an unexpected time-travel twist. I enjoyed the Brazilian aspects and since I have friends from Brazil, the macumba and other details rang true. This book incorporates the best from several genres and I highly recommend it to any reader looking for something beyond the ordinary romantic suspense or paranormal.

Customer Reviews:
Great read.......2006-02-12
I've done the whole "Bitten" route. Read all of Laurel K. Hamilton's stuff. This book definitely is a better read. Hayter takes the familiar werewolve plot line and makes it both fun and interesting.
I'd also recommend her other works as well.
Different Kind of Beach Read.......2005-08-03
An offbeat werewolf tale, lighthearted but also dark in equal measures. recommended.
Great fun!.......2005-07-03
One day, Annie Engel wakes up after having had the wolf dream again. There's blood on her chest and face, and she feels sick. After throwing up watery rust-colored vomit, she realizes that lodged in her teeth is a piece of something that looks and smells like raw meat, which is really odd, because she's a vegetarian. Then she sees the news about a man's throat being ripped out by a killer dog.
Annie isn't the only one who wonders what's going on. The New York branch of the Potenza family, an old werewolf clan now devoted to helping werewolves overcome their Lycanthropic Metamorphic Disorder (an inherited trait), worries about "free werewolves" and decides to track her down. So does Jim Valiente, a free werewolf who had been associated with Potenzas until the female werewolf he loved died during treatment.
As the killings increase, the pressure on the Mayor and Police Commissioner to find the serial killer intensifies. So does the pressure on Sam Deverall, a TV news reporter who was on his way down until he got some inside information on the killings.
After a bit, Annie doesn't know who to trust, Marco Potenza and his (completely) human wife, the male werewolf she had hot sex with in Central Park, the Potenzas' "enforcer"?
Hayter has written a delightful fantasy of werewolves in New York, at the same time skewering all sorts of targets: media, politicians, mega-conglomerates, and artsy, pretentious twenty-somethings. Her characters are believable, and it is fun to watch the meek inherit the earth, so to speak, as some characters change and grow, and others get their comeuppance.
If you are writing a werewolf novel, you have to deal with the fact that your protagonist is killing people and you have to find a way to make him sympathetic in spite of that fact. Hayter passes this test with flying colors. She also has a quite credible explanation for why Annie hadn't transformed earlier. A funny, sweet, romantic horror story.
I didnt want to... but I do.......2005-06-21
I picked up this novel, a departure from the Robin Hudson series, and wanted to love it. 20 pages in, I decided that Hayter had failed me terribly and tossed the book aside. Months passed and without a new Hudson book to appease me, I again picked up Naked Brunch. Still hated it. I read and re-read the reviews here at Amazon time and again and thought about how everyone must be reading some chapters that were left out of my copy. How could these people love this book so much? The one negative review I read still failed to execute the horrible justice that I felt Naked Brunch deserved.
Again months passed and STILL no new Hudson novel. So, on the third try I discovered something. I hadnt seperated myself from the series that I felt so protective of. Hayter had betrayed Robin Hudson and this new Annie Engle person was weak and pathetic, werewolves are a ridiculous choice of topic, and who did this Dear Tweets person think he was?
On that third try, and almost a year after reading anything about Robin Hudson, Tomayo, Mrs. R and the gang, I realized that Hayter had actually written a beautiful book and I had wasted months bashing it because I was expecting someone else to be in its pages. I wonder now if I should seek therapy for my charachter attatchments, but first, this:
This is not a Robin Hudson book and it doesnt pretend to be. Theres no need to re-tell the plot as several have already done so. What you should know is the book is quick paced, funny, but not in a hilarious way, and not chick-litesque at all. The charachters are brilliant and stick with you long after the book ends and all have a fascinating story to tell.
The truth is I want to live in Hayters world. As with the Hudson books, Sparkle Hayter makes our city a more magical place. And while reading her, and for a long time after, you notice things differently, and wonder if the guy next to you on the bus could be smuggling a dangerous chemical agent in that brown bagged bottle or may even be a werewolf.
Different tone than the Hudson books, but very good..........2004-07-26
I'm almost done with my Sparkle Hayter read-a-thon... This one is Naked Brunch. This is not one of her Robin Hudson stories, and despite the back cover description is more serious than her other stuff. You'd think you're about to read a zany story of love and werewolves, but the zany part was pretty subdued. But don't get me wrong. I actually really liked it.
A legal secretary finds out she has Lycanthropic Metamorphic Disorder (LMT) when she morphs into a wolf and kills someone during a full moon. She's not really sure it all happened until the same thing happens the following month, and she finds another wolf in the same condition. Meanwhile, the city is in turmoil over the "Mad Dog" killings, and a private clinic (run by someone who also has LMT) tries to find her and bring her under control. A power struggle arises between the head of the clinic and the other wolf, who had been a clinic patient but faked a suicide when he was accused of killing another female wolf while staying there. Since the doctor can't assure himself that he can bring the situation under control, he decides to kill both of them.
Playing out at the same time is a secondary plot of a newscaster who is about to be fired as he doesn't have a clue as to how to report, but he picks up this story and starts to run with it. His wife, another media personality, is cheating on him and is outed in a gossip column, but he's oblivious to all the talk. The news station wants to keep him that way so that he can follow the story, and steps are taken to make sure that whole "affair" is controlled so that he isn't hurt in the process.
While the cluelessness of the reporter and the gossip column material is funny, the core story of the wolves is pretty serious and involves a lot of death and destruction (although the people who get killed deserve it). The basic plot could be really good Dean Koontz material. Definitely a different style of story for Hayter, but one I really liked.

Combined they have children and ex's to deal with, along with a host of friends and family members that have major issues. They realize their love is strong and that they have major responsibillities and they are not love struck teenagers. They also realize that mistakes that they made in the past, have to be rectified. Everyone learns what needs to be done, after a tragedy strikes. You have a little bit of everything in this story and the supporting characters are excellent. The Ebb and Flow of Life and Love.......2002-09-30
I read Rivers of My Soul and loved it and couldn't wait to read this sequel. I was not disappointed. I absolutely love Leslie Esdaile's style of writing. It is so down to earth. Through her writing, you could feel, relate and understand what the characters were going through. You could feel Toni's grief on learning that a loved one would be leaving her soon, but at the same time, you almost felt your own stomach cramping as she fought to keep the tears from her voice so as not to alarm her beloved Aunt Pearline. You felt her fear as she realized that her life was not as it should be. You could relate as she finally snapped out of it and remembered her power and started concentrating on what she COULD do instead of what she couldn't. You nodded your head and understood her ferocity as a mother lion protecting her cubs. And you really understood how she felt to be all things to everyone, but at night, she was still a sensuous, giving, taking, needing, loving, sexual woman who could give as well as take and you sighed when she and Jerome took it to another level. Yeah. If you have ever been a woman in love, I mean REALLY in love with that one person who should have been the one by your side, no matter what, you could relate.

A Realistic Romance Novel.......2002-09-05
Quite simply this book is a beautiful tale about love lost and found again. After a 20-year pause, Antoinette and Jerome have found each other again. This time, nothing shall separate them. Still Waters Run Deep is a story full of passion- sweet, mature, rewarding and profound. The rejuvenation between two kindred souls makes this novel a must read, a definite addition to any well rounded book collection.
Antoinette is a savvy businesswoman- Jerome is blue collar. The two met in high school and family influence being what it is, separation soon followed. Antoinette went to college and Jerome went to the service. Two lives separated, but hearts still together. Hurt soon followed, of course. Two lives separated and hearts divided as well. Both Toni and Jay (pet names for each other) married other people and had families. Separated lives, divided hearts and other spirits to intertwine. But through it all, that which is lost shall be found again.
A major facet of Still Waters Run Deep is the theme of family tradition, the passing on of a rich heritage and the assurance that the past is never forgotten; only enhanced. As such Toni has been passed on the family torch of preparing the Easter feast and becoming the caretaker of her family. She is preparing to take over as the head of a sisterhood who speak in a mystical female language. Toni is preparing herself for the role of queen bee to her family. She embraces the task of providing a place emotionally for the sustenance and support of every member. A formidable undertaking but as the eldest, those before her have groomed her for this position. Jay loves her all the more for strength and ability. He notices how she can behave as a mother bear fiercely protecting her own, a loving vixen, attentive to his needs and the love that lay dormant for 20 years sparks to life. What more could any two people want and need.
If ever a book, I wanted to find myself in were written, I would have to say that Still Waters Run Deep would be the one. The simplistic beauty of love, the intrinsic complexity of family dynamics, the strength to meld the two together seamlessly make this novel fascinating to read and memorable.
Holding On.......2002-07-27
For me, Still Waters Run Deep was a much-anticipated sequel to Rivers of the Soul and I was not disappointed. While reading this novel, I was often reminded of and hummed that oldie tune of the same title.
In Rivers of the Soul, Toni and Jerome reintroduced themselves to each other with the excitement and freshness of new lovers. Still Waters Run Deep picks up where Rivers of the Soul left off, with Toni and Jerome taking their relationship public and going through the trials and tribulations of meshing careers, finances and blending families. After finding each other, knowing that they are each other's soul mate, will they be able to navigate the obstacles placed before them?
Still Waters Run Deep goes several steps further by examining Toni and Jerome's responses to their responsibilities; their ability to handle crisis; their speculations of the uncertainty of their relationship and revealing some truths that neither knew about the other.
Leslie Esdaile's characters are feisty and strong willed; the situations are descriptive, vivid and realistic. This sequel, while long on pages, is quick and thought-provoking. What I took from this novel is to dream, instill your faith in that dream and never let go. .....Reviewed by Dawn R. Reeves, APOOO BookClub.
Love is better the second time around.......2002-06-21
How would you handle a second chance to undo 20 years of 'what ifs', and find the happiness that has always eluded you? In Leslie Esdaile's Still Waters Run Deep, Jerome and Antoinette are given a chance to do just that.
This sequel to Rivers of the Soul delves into the very fiber of marriage and family. It shares a very real, very touching look at responsibilities and missed opportunities. It sends the message that it takes courage to count your losses and take your life to another level. This story carries the full embodiment of letting go and letting a higher power direct your life.
Jerome realizes for this woman to have seen him in all of his youthful glory, and also in all his mature confusion, and to still look at him with admiration and desire; That she is indeed the other half of his wholeness, that she has become the still waters that run so deep within him, that she has called him from his own depths. Antoinette, is finally able to share childhood events which shaped her life and forced her to react/behave in a manner that had imprisonsed her with fear.
The lives of three other couples are also intertwined, so the decisions by Toni and Jerome greatly affect the outcome of each of the marriages. As the story unravels, you begin to see the humanness of each couple and the fears of the individuals who make up the couples. This book covers many high profile issues; divorce, spousal abuse, infidelity and parenting. It urges the reader to love yourself enough to reach beyond what's expected and with courage grasp that second opportunity.
Ms. Esdaile has written a sequel that explores and expands what living your dreams is all about. The one message I bring from this book is to never give up, don't ever give up your dreams. Please take the opportunity to read this wonderful story. -- Reviewed by aNN Brown

Excellent.......2002-11-15
I saw this book in the store for the longest time. The cover kind of turned me away from it. One day I read what the book was about and thought that this would be an intresting novel and it was. This book was the bomb, Cassie Lee was such a strong heroin to me she over came many obstacles and let's not mention Solomon what a man. This wasn't your typical romance book.
Nowhere to run.......2002-10-05
The old west was s very important time in history and it is truly wonderful to finally see more black western love story emerging. I loved Cassie Lee and Solomon story and I hated to see the book end. Well done, and I hope to see more historically western black love stories in the future.
Totally Engrossing Read.......2000-11-29
Ms. Gunn definitely put her heart and soul into Nowhere to Run. From the very first sentence the reader is catapulted into the world of Cassie Lee and Solomon. With a sharp eye for detail and the ability to write beautiful imagery, she really delivers! In a time when African Americans had absolutely no rights as human beings, her characters showed the kind of strength and resilience worthy of hero worship. Yes, Nowhere to Run is romantic and sensual (for you diehard romance readers). However the author displayed the kind of depth we've come to expect from so-called 'serious' reads, the kind that top the New York Times Bestseller lists. I've seen books that make that list which truly don't live up to the honor. Nowhere to Run should have been there when it debuted. But perhaps you, the reader, can get the word out now: THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!!! 'Nuff said?
ACHEIVE YOUR DREAMS UNDER YOUR OWN CONDITIONS!.......1998-05-01
The character of Cassie Lee captured me at the beginning and carried me through the entire book! Cassie Lee was a slave whose dream was to become free and rich. She was purchashed to become the wife of a powerful and rich black man. I know you're thinking..."Now, If she has all of the right ingredients, then there is no way that her dreams could not have been acheived!" WRONG! Choosing not to accept the conditions and treatment that she was given, she left with NOWHERE TO RUN!
She was no longer a slave, but she was still poor. Continuing with half of her goals accomplished, she remained honest and hardworking throughout her many trials.
In the end, not only did she become rich and free, she did it CASSIE LEE's way!! YOU GO GIRL!
We're all looking for our "Forever Man.".......1998-03-17
The story of Cassie Lee and Solomon Hawk will make you laugh and make you cry. It is a strong story of love, of family and forever.
