Book Description
Monk is horrified when he learns there's going to be a blue flu in San Francisco-until Capt. Stottlemeyer explains that it just means the police plan to call in "sick" until they get a better contract. The good news is the labor dispute will give Monk a chance to get back on the force. The bad news is it means he'll be a "scab"-and he doesn't like the sound of that either.
But before he knows it, Monk has his badge back, and his own squad to command. Unfortunately, some of the squad members make Monk look like a paragon of mental health. But despite the challenges, they'll have to pull together to catch an astrologer's killer, solve a series of mysterious fatal assaults, and most importantly, clean up their desks.

Classic Monk all the way through.......2007-06-30
This book reads just like an epsiode of the TV show. We already know these characters very well & the actors who play them. As you read this story you can see them acting out the story. Its a credit to the writing & to the show. We know who Monk is & we know how he reacts to certain things. You'll find yourself waiting for the next "Monk Bit" and laugh out loud when it happens.
The actual story here is good as well. Like the show, its really pretty simple when you can isolate it and break it down. The problem is that you get distracted by Monk & his craziness so that when all the pieces fit together in the end you say, "Oh, yeah! I should have seen that coming", but that is basically what makes Monk so much fun. Its not about us trying to figure it out (reading or watching) is about going along for the ride.
One aspect of this book which is worth noting is that it is writing from the point of view of Natalie (Monk's assistant). Because she is the narrator we understand her thoughts and reasoning we get to see a lot more to her character than we do on the show. At first it was a little different because Monk, Disher, & Stottlemeyer are so well defined that, like I mentioned earlier, we can visualize them perfectly beacuse we know their characters so well from the show. Natalie ends up being a little different and I don't think its a bad thing. After finishing the book & getting a better feel for her character I realized that on the show there really isn't any depth to her. She's kind, friendly, supportive, etc. but we really don't get to know who she is. I think the author of this book did a fine job of adding to her character.
The only drawback that I will mention is the supporting cast of charachters in this book. There is a group of detectives who assist Monk. They all have a function in the story & serve it well but they are all crazy characters too, and I think maybe they are just a bit too crazy. Monk is ridculous and we know this, we've come to expext it. The extra characters in this book just make the story a little too ridiculous in parts. Besides that, I think this a great read and although it is not the first Monk novel to be printed it is the first one that I've read & I plan on going back & reading the others.
Solutions not very Monkish.......2007-06-11
The Blue Flu stikes SFPD and Mr. Monk is given his badge back along with a promotion to Capt. of the Homicide force. While many murders are solved, we are deprived of the many monkisms we have grown to love from television episodes. Writing can stimulate imagination, however, this book does not. Basically we're reading about a detective who solves murders and has some curious banter with his sidekick. Disappointing save for the cover photo
Great Monk fun!.......2007-05-19
This is the first Monk book I have read. It's great fun. Lee Goldberg knows his characters so well. I enjoyed the plot. Having Adrian back on the force, albeit in a not-so-kosher way, made for a good story. The fact that his co-detectives were at least as defective as he was just great. Each was well-rounded and I loved the interaction of their "handlers." There were plenty of sub-plots and twists to keep the mystery going well until the end. Two of the moments where Monk is in real trouble were incredible fun. I have no complaints (except that there are typographical errors but that's not Lee's fault, I'm sure.)
I'll definitely be getting more of these books, published and future. I love this genre and this character. A great book for any Monk fan!
Take a crazy (no disrespect intended) ride with Mr. Monk.......2007-04-11
I'm aware of the USA Network television series but haven't yet gotten around to seeing an episode, but nevertheless I suspect that this breezy, enjoyable novel faithfully reproduces the characters and flavor of the show. I enjoyed the handful of mystery scenarios our hero attacks during the course of the book, as well as the many (mostly humorous) "value added" scenes depicting the obsessive compulsive Adrian Monk taking down minor crooks and annoying his colleagues with his constant penchant for ensuring neatness and balance in all things. A scene set during a press conference was a particular standout: instead of focusing on delivering an important message to the press, Mr. Monk is much more concerned with correcting a slight tilt of the podium, which- at great length- he attempts to address while all the reporters look on. It played like one of those great visual gags in the Peter Sellers "Pink Panther" movies, and was very, very funny.
While many television and movie "tie-in" books are more about marketing deals and cross promotion than telling a good story, one shouldn't dismiss them out of hand as a source of solid craftmanship and genuine creativity. Lee Goldberg's "Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu" is certainly an example of a tie-in book that delivers the goods. It's funny, involving, and even sports a dollop of tension and suspense. I'm really glad I read it and will definitely sample another in this series.
Sigh, there's one downside, however. Having enjoyed- thanks to Mr. Goldberg- my introduction to the "Monk" universe, I guess now I'm going to have to spring for the "Monk, Season One" DVD set.
A deviation from the formula.......2007-03-23
There's a serial killer on the loose in San Francisco, a foot fetishist who strangles women while they're jogging and absconds with their left shoes. That the victims are left unevenly shod is particularly irksome to Adrian Monk, the obsessive compulsive detective who is called in to help the SFPD solve the crimes. Before long, Monk becomes more than a consultant on the case. Contract negotiations between the police union and the City have broken down, and a great many police officers--for whom it is illegal to go on strike--have opted to call in sick with the "blue flu" of the book's title. To cope with the crisis the Mayor of San Francisco gives Monk his badge back (Monk lost it years before when his OCD rendered him incapable of performing adequately) and promotes him to Captain of the homicide division. At the same time, a handful of disturbed former police officers are temporarily reinstated on the force to work with Monk.
Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu is the third installment in Lee Goldberg's series of TV tie-ins. The story is unusual not only because Monk is operating this time around from within the police department but, more importantly, because he is required to work with a team, delegating tasks he would rather undertake himself to his skeleton force of department rejects. This deviation from the usual formula of the series may be why the Blue Flu is not quite as successful as the previous Monk books. Goldberg needed to concentrate on Monk's responsibilities as acting Captain and focus less on Monk's interactions with Natalie Teeger, his personal assistant and the narrator of the books.
What has impressed me most about the Monk series is Goldberg's charming, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny dialogue. There is still some of this to be found in the Blue Flu:
"Mr. Monk helped you shop?" she said warily.
"Yes," I said.
"I already have enough first-aid supplies and disinfectant to open my own hospital," she said. "I really don't need any more."
"You know what they say," Monk said. "You can never have too much disinfectant."
"Who says that?" Julie said.
"The people without enough disinfectant," Monk said. "Shortly before their miserable, drooling deaths."
But Goldberg's latest simply isn't as funny as the series' previous books. I also had trouble swallowing the book's premise. However depleted the ranks of the SFPD, and however corrupt San Francisco's Mayor, I could not accept that Monk--and, even more so, the wackos returned to active duty to serve under him--would in fact have been reinstated for any length of time.
Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu is still a decent read, but it lacks the spark of Goldberg's previous Monk books.

Super Cute.......2007-04-12
This book is cute and the perfect bedtime story for my 2 year old. There are several "bedtime" plots among the Blue's Clues set and they all do a good job of easing into slumber land by coming to a peaceful place at the end of the story.
Blue's a Hit.......2007-03-02
I know Blue's biggest fan. His name is Jaylon and he's 19 months old. Blue can do no wrong and this book does not disaapoint. Steve and Blue take you through Blue's bedtime ritual. The steps are simple, the pictures are colorful, it's small enough to carry around and the book is sturdy enough to withstand eight teeth.
Blue goes to sleep...like all children do..........2007-02-12
A nice bedtime story for your child. She asks for Blue all the time.
Sleepy Time With Blue........2006-08-23
Good Night Blue is a great book to read prior to nap time or bed time. The book shows Blue going potty, brushing his teeth, and getting ready for bed. Children get a great story, and get to learn about all the things they need to do before going to bed.
The book is sturdy and well made, and is fun to read. My 2 daughters love this book.
Good NIght Blue.......2006-08-17
I am sure that every preschool child would like to have this book.

Book Description
Twenty-one-year-old Rune is an aspiring filmmaker, but so far her only break has been scoring a job as an underpaid production assistant in Manhattan. Still, she's always on the lookout for the perfect topic for her own film--and she thinks she's found it when she witnesses the bombing of a triple-X movie theater in Times Square. Rune's got a great hook for her documentary: She plans to film it through the eyes of Shelly Lowe, the porn star whose movie was playing at the theater when it exploded. But just hours after Rune films a poignant Shelly reflecting on her dreams of becoming a serious actress, a second bomb silences the beautiful film star forever. Was Shelly in the wrong place at the wrong time--or was she the bomber's target all along? Rune vows to find out the truth behind the death of this blue movie star. But as she struggles to finish shooting her film, Rune's labor of love may be her final masterpiece--as a shooting of a more lethal kind threatens to write an ending to this story that no one wants to see....
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful series, wonderful heroine!.......2007-09-17
Rune is a young woman who wants to be a film-maker. Although she doesn't have any formal education, she has managed to pick up bits and pieces from various jobs she has held, including her current one for an agency that does advertising and independent films. One day, on the way to work, she witnesses the bombing of an adult movie theatre - the professed work of a right-wing Fundamentalist group calling themselves the Sword of Jesus - and the idea of creating a film around the event captures her interest. She tracks down an actress who was in one of the films playing in the theatre that day - Shelly Lowe - and convinces her to give some interviews. However, shortly after beginning the project, a second bombing kills Shelly Lowe, so Rune must change her focus - she begins to interview Shelly's friends instead, deciding to focus the film on the life and death of this actress, while at the same time trying to solve the mystery of who exactly are responsible for the bombings. Rune develops a relationship with Sam Healy, a member of the bomb squad, who at first tries to keep her away from the scene and then later just tries to minimize the damage.
There are plenty of twists to this one - worthy of Jeffrey Deaver! He never lets us down, that's for sure! Don't miss this one!
Explosive Action.......2006-01-17
Deaver does a good job here of pulling off a surprise ending that I doubt you will see coming. I found the protagonist, a young female film maker named Rune, an engaging and interesting character, and her relationship with the bomb squad officer was an important aspect of the book for me, but the other characters, with the possible exception of Nicole, one of the porn actresses, were, as far as I was concerned, only there for the plot. The book was a good read for me, and I enjoyed the plot twists.
Rune Is Back!.......2005-06-10
My favorite Deaver character, Rune, returns in DEATH OF A BLUE MOVIE STAR and continues to entertain her reading audience. What's not to love about this street-savvy young woman who definitely marches to the beat of her own drummer? She lives up to her own expectations and doesn't care what others think about her - she has her goals and that's her only focus.
Rune is trying to get a break in the film industry and she uses the bombing of a Times Square porn theater as her catalyst. Utilizing this bombing as background information, she begins a documentary on the porn industry. With luck on her side, and a persistence that is similar to a bulldog, Rune gets an interview with top porn star, Shelly Lowe. Needing to wrap up the interview sequence, Rune meets Shelly at her office. As she waits outside, she glances up as Shelly waves and tells her she'll be right down after she's off the phone. In the next minute, Shelly's building is devastated by a bomb instantly killing her which thrusts Rune on another case trying to figure out who is responsible for Shelly's death.
Deaver introduces us to another quirky character in Sam Healy, a bomb squad detective. He seems to pop up and save Rune every time she gets into hot water. Yes, Rune is great at getting into trouble - she is going to solve this crime no matter what measures she has to take, including breaking into offices, buying false IDs, etc. Sam is soon involved with Rune and the two compliment each other and battle each other. It makes for an interesting side plot and having this team solve the case brings a new, fun, dimension to story.
DEATH OF A BLUE MOVIE STAR focuses on pornography and the seedy side of filmmaking. Most of the main plot is believable, but some is far-fetched. The way Deaver describes Shelly Long as a "gifted actress" is just a bit much. If she were truly a gifted actress, she'd be making a fortune in the legitimate film industry, not wasting away as a porn star. Other aspects are more believable.
I enjoyed this novel; it was a fast read and kept me entertained the entire time. However, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first Rune epic, MANHATTAN IS MY BEAT. I'm hoping this 21-year-old will continue her journeys and when Deaver takes a break from Lincoln Rhyme, he'll give us a glimpse into Rune's current world.
Hooked by Rune.......2002-03-23
This is the second Rune novel. I was quite impressed with the first one, but this second one literally blew me away!
Rune is an absolutely great character. She is likeable, amusing, and great company. Deaver's writing is puncy, to the point, and exciting. I found myself turning the pages rapidly.
the plot is really good, as always with a Deaver novel. there is also some emotion packed in with it. There is excitement, tension, intrigue...all the things you need to make a good thriller. these Rune books are really easy, they're light, too, but not over simple. I find them even more pageturners than his normal stuff. i don't know why...i just really cant wait to find out whats going to happen and why. the characters are compelling and the plot great.
i really cannot describe what i like so much about this series, but i absolutely love it! It is a breath of fresh air, and i am really sad that there is only one book left. i really hope Deaver writes another Rune book sometimes, because this really is a great series.
With "Death os A Blue Movie Star" he creates his usual complex plot, and packs it with stuff. it's fast paced, and fairly races along to what is an absolutely stunning climax, in true Deaver style. As always, there are several twists throughout the book, and its great fun trying to guess what they'll be...and i was not right once!
Deaver is the best thriller/suspense writer out there. I love his books to pieces.
An average sequel.......2001-08-31
The main character Rune does not continue her unique development and insight to the world, as she did in Manhattan is My Beat. And while it does deal with an interesting story of those that are sometimes forgotten by a society who considers some less than worthwhile, it never really gets enough steam to say that they shouldn't be forgotten. On the other hand, it does get into the personality quirks of several people, including those that society would deem worthwhile, but have secrets the world doesn't know.
Reading this story will be ok, but don't expect the same level of enjoyment as from Manhattan is My Beat.

This was a big hit!.......2007-01-10
My son loves to watch Blue Clue's on TV. When the book arrived - he had a big smile on his face. When it comes to reading at bedtime - this is his favorite.
Not only does he get a good story, it has plenty of things to count and/or look for other than the 3 clues.
I call this book a winner.
Smart Idea!.......2006-11-24
This is a brilliant book that is even better if you can get a really good deal on it. This book combines nine previous volumes featuring our favorite blue puppy. The pages are lined in gold-coloring and it features one of those handy built-in page-markers.
In these stories, everything is explored from Blue being bored with having nobody to play with to having an overnight sleepover. Many of the best "Blue's Clues" stories ever are here.
Having trouble finding this? The version I have uses the title "Blue's Treasury of Stories." So if you have a book called "Blue's Treasury of Stories," then you have this.
Best bang for your buck.......2001-04-30
This book is of good quality. It is hardcover and the pages are thick. It has 7 stories in one book. The stories are a good mix. There are seasonal as well as ones for everyday. It also has stories with Magenta, which my 2 year old daughter loves. This is one of her favorite books. Any child that loves Blue's Clues will enjoy this book.

Great for Newbies! Porn is So Much Better Today!.......2006-08-07
As someone who has been recommending intimate videos to my girlfriends for years, I was anxious to see what I might learn from Violet Blue's, `The Ultimate Guide to Adult Videos.' As it turns out - if you're an experienced porn watcher - not much! (More on why not later.) But if you're a newbie, this book actually has a lot to offer!
For those of you who might be hesitant to watch porn, this book offers many reassurances, such as - people who watch porn are NOT compulsive masturbators, or - porn watchers DO enjoy regular sex with their partners, and, most significantly - watching porn will NOT affect your ability to have a meaningful relationship but, in fact, it might do just the opposite! (Hear, hear!)
On the positive side, the book also provides many GOOD reasons for watching porn, such as - to satisfy one's curiosity (and to expand one's horizons), as education, as entertainment before (or during) sex, or quite simply - to get off! On this last point, Violet offers a lot of encouragement particularly to women - to allow themselves to masturbate while watching porn - which, for men, is only second nature (like breathing)! Lastly, for couples, this tome does review the sensitive issue of how to view porn with a partner - especially when one partner is reluctant. (Luckily, my husband has never had this problem!)
Violet also reassures us - that it's not always necessary to attempt (in one's own bed) everything we might see in porn - and that it's ok for certain types of action to remain in the realm of `fantasy.' In fact, one of porn's strongest roles - is to dimensionalize (add realism) to our sexual fantasies. So even if your boyfriend watches some of the raunchiest porn imaginable - that doesn't require you to try it (or even admit to liking it, even if you do) - so long as he's able to separate fantasy from reality (which most men are surprisingly able to do.)
Probably the most useful sections of the book deals with the types of porn available, such as - feature films, educational videos, all-sex videos (all sex, no plot), to name just a few - as well as my favorite, girl/girl -- which is sometimes called lesbian videos, even though most of the performers are not true lesbians. So if you're unsure of what to watch, this book can add structure to the sometimes bewildering array of porn that's available.
On the downside, this book was published in 2003 -- just a few years ago - but a long time, unfortunately, in porn years! As a result, most of the movie titles it recommends - which make up about 2/3rds of the book - may be difficult, if not impossible, to find today (unless one looks in the classics or marked-down sections). Fortunately, some of the directors, studios, and series listed -- may still be around in some later incarnation.
There's also very little mention of one of the hottest new genres - gonzo -- in which the director interacts (verbally) with the actors -- which saves cost, since there's no script and no rehearsing - but results in some of the hottest, most spontaneous action you'll ever see on screen.
For the experienced porn watcher, this book also seriously dates itself by pointing out that the most prevalent and brazen type of (male) climax available at the time - were facials (an ejaculation served across a woman's face) - which are as useless and degrading back then as they are today! (Ladies, honestly, how often have you asked your lover to do this for you? If you're like me - how about NEVER!) Let's get real!
Fortunately, achieving a climax within a woman's body (on screen) is much more accepted and commonplace in porn today - which makes the action more realistic, more romantic - and much more emotionally satisfying to watch! (It's about time!)
As another nit, the book sadly has only a brief chapter on lesbian and girl/girl videos, which is a shame. And it mixes them with bi-videos (where the men do it with both men and women) which have an entirely different audience and a much more limited appeal.
Luckily, the author, Violet Blue, has a new book coming out, `The Smart Girls Guide to Porn,' which sounds well targeted - since its women who will probably seek out this type of info, especially in a book!
As a happily married (bisexual) female, here are my suggestions for what I'd like to see included in her new book - which this present edition was sorely lacking:
There are now genres of porn - which explore the lovingness of every orifice (such as oral and anal) - and the creative after-climax uses for a man's output (such as swallowing, swapping, and cream pies which is the oozing of ejaculant out of the orifice where it was deposited, plus other combinations of the above).
The natural eroticism of girl/girl should be more strongly highlighted - especially for women. In my own experiences, I've yet to meet a girl who doesn't like to watch two cute babes making love to each other. And I've also found that a woman's enjoyment of porn will increase tremendously - after she discovers girl/girl, which only makes sense since porn is about women - and women have always had an appreciation for the beauty of the fairer sex. (Said differently, it's harder to believe that porn exploits women, and to restrict one's own enjoyment - when pretty girls can now be an object of desire - for both men and women!)
Needless to say, a section of the book should be added to reassure MEN - that watching girl/girl videos will NOT turn their girlfriends or wives into lesbians! (Take it from me -- they won't!) Unfortunately, the most common reason I've found to explain why some women DON'T watch girl-only videos - is because their men don't (yet) approve. Fortunately, that attitude is quickly changing.
I didn't say this earlier, but back in 2003 - it was also taboo to mix boy/girl and girl/girl action - in the same scene. The thinking was (and still is) that guys will be turned off. But one of my favorite type of videos today is girl/girl/boy threesomes, where the girls are free to make love to each other early on (usually in the segment's opening) - and later all throughout the scene - even after their guy has joined in, which is pretty heady stuff!
As further expansion, the nastiest and most romantic of these girl/girl/boy threesome titles are probably more easily recognized under the `swapping' genre where the girls do just that orally with their lover's output - which, for me, is a great heterosexual reassurance - which allows the intimacy of the girl/girl action to go even higher! (As a watch-out, these videos are probably better suited to the more advanced porn watcher - but they are items which I suggest quite often - to my girlfriends who really enjoy porn!)
In conclusion, Violet Blue's `Ultimate Guide to Adult Videos' offers some timeless advice to overcome one's hesitation when it comes to watching porn. The plethora of videos it recommends, though - are hopelessly out-of-date! Fortunately, porn just keeps getting better and better - for both men and women! Enjoy.
more than just a review book.......2004-06-08
This is the ultimate consumer guide to porn and it's perfect for women and couples. The female perspecitve is utmost here and it shows you how to steer clear of low quality and female degredation while still finding really hot porn. This is an encyclopedia of modern adult film and nothing has been left out. History, backstories, profiles on interesting people in the business, lots of women-made erotic films and even softcore and mainstream titles are covered here. Nice sections on finding and selecting porn to suit individual's tastes. This book is a welcome relief and is intelligent, funny and free of the usual judgement and stigma in other porn writing. Blue treates porn like an independent film genre, and it's about time.
Great Book!.......2003-10-08
I had no idea the spectrum of videos available until I read this book. It's also the perfect book if you want to get a video to watch with your lover and tells you how to introduce the idea to them. Plus it tells you who the good filmmakers are. Comprehensive and highly recommended.
Refreshing.......2003-10-01
I always thought I would watch adult movies if only there were any good ones! I was never very excited about adult movies but I am a fan of the author, and the video guide is not only her best book to date but made me want to go out and rent some of these movies. As a woman I am used to being insulted by adult movies, but the guide is written by an intelligent woman and she's pointed the way for me to find hot movies, and her recommendations have been right on the mark. She gives the reader a guide with which they can make informed decisions about what they do and do not want to watch. How refreshing.
funny and smart.......2003-09-30
This is a great book! My girlfriend and I love it, and she's now happily put herself in charge of renting our videos. Violet Blue's tone is warm, funny, and excited about sex and adult videos, and she takes no prisoners in her hilarious video reviews. There are hundreds of films in this book and she explains how to find the good stuff. My girlfriend liked where Blue explained how to avoid seeing things that are offensive and we cracked each other up reading the "porn glossary" out loud to each other. It's nice to see a guide that takes us readers and porn watchers seriously. It's a great book for us couples. Don't read it alone! Thank you Violet Blue!

My 2 1/2 year old's favorite book.......2007-07-26
We don't let him watch TV/movies, and I've never seen "Cars" either - but we love this book just the same. It's has simple rhymes which are fun for him and easy to memorize for me. We even recite the words in the car without the book around. The book has held up reasonably well given all the use it gets and that it's a paperback.
Not a story book. It's a simple book of opposites........2006-10-06
I ordered this book based on Amazon's description that is is a "complete retelling of Disney presentation of a Pixar film latest computer-animated film, Cars." It is definitely NOT that. Instead, it's a simple book of opposites, using pictures from the movie. Here are some examples from the book: "Dirty car. Clean car. Nice car. Mean car. Drive fast, fast, fast. Drive nice and slow." If you are looking for a book of opposites for a child who loves the movie 'Cars', then this book is for you. If you are looking for a book that tells the story, this isn't the one you want to buy.

Good Book.......2007-02-25
My daughter, Lucy, really likes this book. She has Blue on her Luvs diapers and she is starting to recognize him now since we always read this book. She hasn't started counting yet, but we will use this book to re-inforce counting when she does start. This book is especially good for new babies because it has very few words. There isn't much of a story, so if you are looking for a story, look into other Blue's Clues books.
Great way to teach numbers.......2006-08-14
Many children like BLUES CLUES and my daughter enjoys counting with Blue. Great board book for early learners.
Great for the little ones.......2005-09-25
Our little one loves "Blue", and best of all vocabulary skills
have increased.
Toddlers love this book.......2005-09-10
My daycare kids love this book. It's very cute book. Blue counts but to 5. Great beginners book for toddlers.
Counting with Blue.......2003-09-30
I got this book for my daughter when she was about 18 months old, and she loved it. It counts to five using easy to understand rhymes and pastel drawings of familiar animals (bunnies, kitties, butterflies, ladybugs, etc.). She asked for it every night for weeks. At the time, she had never seen a Blue's Clues episode, so her liking of the book was not due to already liking the character of Blue.

An odd answer to, "Where does Blue want to go?".......2007-05-26
This was a clever book, but I found it a little unusual that the answer to, "Where does Blue want to go today?" is school. Usually if one asks their child where they want to go, it would be someplace fun, like mini-golf, bowling, the movies, etc.
great book for toddlers!.......2007-05-16
I bought this for my daughter who is 2 1/2 and she loves it! She reads it everyday and is still excited to find Blue hiding in various places throughout the book. Definitely worth buying!
Let's Play Blue's Clues.......2007-03-02
At 19 months, Jaylon absolutely LOVES this book. Anyone that enjoys the Blue's Clues series will find this book delightful as you play your own game of Blue's Clues. Magenta, Salt and Pepper, Pail and Shovel, they're all there. Even though this book has taken a beaten and some of the flaps are barely hanging in, this is an all time favorite.
Great book!.......2006-09-09
For those who care, this one features Steve. It's also very big.
Like all flap books, an adult should 'prep' the flaps before handing the book over. My 2-year-old son loves this book, although he has ripped out a couple of the flaps, and doesn't quite get the point of some. It also has some cues for adult participation: for example, when you open the flap with Blue's ball behind it, on the back of the flap it says "Now can you find Blue?" - although this is somewhat circular since the flap with Blue asks to find Blue's ball.
She could find this book if it were in Shri Lanka.......2003-10-06
This has been my 2 year old's favorite book since she was 10 months old. Seeing all her friends from Blue's Clues makes it interesting, and the colors are bold and the illustrations just like the show. The jillions of flaps are just what my curious girl needs. Many of the flaps are bent or missing now, but I plan to just buy a new one when it gets too beat up. It's a very large book though, can be hard to tote around when your on outings or trips.

When Tutter, Ojo, and Treelo have questions about going to the bathroom, Bear provides the reassuring answers and guidance that they -- and readers -- need to hear. Customer Reviews:
Great training aid.......2007-03-12
We have researched many different potty training aids and this is one character that doesn't use baby talk to help motivate your child and is educational. My daughter talks about being like some of the characters in this book and we have found it to be very useful. The video is a great addition to this as it puts the book in visual form and then adds a couple of other topics like hygiene and going to bed.
Great Book.......2007-03-07
This is a great book and goes along with the movie. Excellent potty training tools.
A Very Effective Book for Toilet Training.......2004-11-30
Both of my children love seeing the familiar characters from "Bear In The Big Blue House" in book form, but I believe this book works as well for kids who don't watch the show. The gentle way Bear, along with Luna, the Moon, deals with everyone's fears and anxieties on this subject seems to speak to the heart of children's fears about making this transition. This book was a great help in finally training my 3 1/2- year old who had developed a mental block on the entire subject. It gently reassures and addresses exactly the right things. We've seen the toilet training episode several times, and they love it, but the book gives you the option of taking it into the bathroom and reading it while your future toileteer is trying to make the leap from diapers to big kid. I would also read it to them before we started in the morning as well. My kids asked for this book over and over again, and it's still a favorite. Kids will love this book even after they are fully trained. In addition to being a very useful tool, it is highly entertaining. I can't say enough good things about this book.
Not that great.......2003-04-23
I bought this based on the above reviews but I found it's not that great if you don't watch TV and know these characters. My two year old who was just starting with potty training was very bored with the book. It seems to go on and on. Perhaps it is for older kids than my two year old.
A solid, but not excellent, choice.......2003-01-07
Our son is just beginning the process of toilet training. This book brings forward familiar characters. The pictures are colorful, the word choice is good and the story is good for youngsters. It gets a bit long, but my son stays with it.
I always prefer books that are board pages and not paper so we can let him have the book for his own parousal without supervision. I see this as the only drawback on what is becoming a favorite for my son.

Great Book!.......2006-11-10
This book was perfect for my 18 month old son. He loves the BIG COLORFUL PICTURES it has. He carries it every where & wants us to read him a few pages every night.
It's a good book- BUT..........2006-09-01
My 2 year old LOVES Blue's Clues. So when I saw this was available, I knew he would love the book. The pictures are colorful and vibrant, and the stories are interesting. Unfortuately, the pages come apart too easily. It's glued along the edge and they come apart at the seam. I have so many pages I need to tape back into the book. This book will not last long and what good is a children's book if all the pages end up loose on the floor?
