Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
He leaped from his chair, ripped off his microphone, and lunged at his ex-wife. Security guards rushed to intercept him. The audience screamed, then cheered. Were producers concerned? Not at all. They were getting what they wanted: the money shot.
From "classy" shows like Oprah to "trashy" shows like Jerry Springer, the key to a talk show's success is what Laura Grindstaff calls the money shot—moments when guests lose control and express joy, sorrow, rage, or remorse on camera. In this new work, Grindstaff takes us behind the scenes of daytime television talk shows, a genre focused on "real" stories told by "ordinary" people. Drawing on extensive interviews with producers and guests, her own attendance of dozens of live tapings around the country, and more than a year's experience working on two nationally televised shows, Grindstaff shows us how producers elicit dramatic performances from guests, why guests agree to participate, and the supporting roles played by studio audiences and experts.
Grindstaff traces the career of the money shot, examining how producers make stars and experts out of ordinary people, in the process reproducing old forms of cultural hierarchy and class inequality even while seeming to challenge them. She argues that the daytime talk show does give voice to people normally excluded from the media spotlight, but it lets them speak only in certain ways and under certain rules and conditions. Working to understand the genre from the inside rather than pass judgment on it from the outside, Grindstaff asks not just what talk shows can tell us about mass media, but also what they reveal about American culture more generally.
Customer Reviews:
Read if you're curious what's real & what's fake.......2005-06-15
I found this book very informative, and it answered my many questions about the truth behind talk shows. The author presents the industry from all angles, from studio audience to home audience to guests to producers. The only drawback is that I found some parts of the book overloaded with "big words" that are not necessary, and are distracting from the substance of the book. For example: "Such practices do not guarantee fireworks and drama, but they help because they locate the potential for dramatic interaction in the strategic juxtaposition of participants rather than (or in addition to) individual performative competence." I consider myself to be fairly skilled when it comes to vocabulary, but I found myself having to reread paragraphs on many occasions. If you're genuinely interested in the topic of talk shows, as I was, it will probably be worth your while to read. It will probably answer all of your questions, if you're willing to pluck the answers out from behind the excess wording.
Going Back Stage.......2002-10-23
I am, unabashedly, a talk show junkie. At some level my interest is undeniably scatalogical. Still, as a sociologist, my real fascination is with the culture of such programming and its impact upon American culture. Grindstaff's ethnographic exploration of two American talk shows answers many of my questions about how such programs are produced (the mechanics), the people involved ('ordinary' guests, 'expert' guests, those working behind the scenes, and the hosts), and offers insight into why we are hooked on this type of spectacle. Her treatment of the subject and those involved is even handed and avoids the obvious pitfalls of stereotyping and villifying.
For those interested in popular culture, American ethnography, issues of authenticity, and cultural studies, Grindstaff's text should find its way to your bookshelf ASAP.
Television Talk and Blow-by-Blow Commentary.......2002-08-24
Grindstaff has produced an excellent book exposing the underbelly of daytime talk show production. Her profuse detail gathered through extensive ethnographic fieldwork pays off in an effective account explaining the production process associated with the talk show. We see how the offbeat topics are formulated, guests recruited, and production secured on numerous talk show episodes. We are taken behind the scenes and understand that it is a small miracle that the television format manages to survive on a daily basis. The writing is precise and the volume is well annotated.
A fan of these talk shows will gain greater appreciation of how the process is structured and the impact upon producers, talk show guests, and studio audience members. This is a magnificent analysis that should be read by everyone curious about the talk show phenomenon.
Book Description
Tim Adler's revealing book looks at the skill, showmanship, and money needed to flourish in the world's toughest business through candid interviews with producers Michael Douglas, Dino De Laurentiis, Duncan Kenworthy, Andrew McDonald, Jeremy Thomas, Marin Karmitz, and Christine Vachon.
Customer Reviews:
Fills a gap in cinema technique books.......2006-04-08
The book fills a gap in cinema technique literature by knowledgeably detailing that producers impact creative as well as business aspects of films. The director worship/auteur theory crowd may disagree, but as "The Producers" points out films require many creative people to make (actors, writers, directors, producers, costume designers, etc), unlike a painting that is produced by one artist.
There are lots of interesting anecdotes. In a chapter about British producers Duncan Kenworthy and Andrew Macdonald, the book reveals that hit film "Notting Hill" went through seven pre-release research screenings in the U.S. where the producers observed that audiences laughed so long at some junctures that they missed the next funny line. So they had the film re-edited to fix this problem and improve the creative result. One of many fascinating tidbits is that 112 titles were considered for "Four Weddings and a Funeral" including: "The Pleasures of Merely Circulating" and "Lots of Weddings, Some Sex and a Cup of Tea."
The book goes deeper than mere production. For example, Michael Douglas ("One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest") spends on average 5 years developing properties before they actually are filmed.
Producers present many depreciating descriptions of their jobs such as being similar to hotel management dealing with a revolving bunch of oddballs, always dealing with unexpected negatives during production, production is just the visible tip of a big iceberg that is a film and producing is akin to standing around in mud all day. The author injects humor nicely musing, for example, drought stricken regions should hire a film production to shoot outdoors because whenever a film crew arrives it seems to start raining.
The text has an obvious British in texture (petrol stations, lorries referring to trucks, etc.) and the sensibility seems British-European in my view (I'm an American who has covered movies globally as a business journalist/analyst for 25 years). END

Book Description
Alan "Nick" Nichols is living the Great Las Vegas Dream. An executive at Las Vegas' biggest advertising agency, he has a fine home and family. Just as midlife rumblings of discontent are beginning to settle in, Nick suddenly hits the jackpot. Not in the lottery or at a slot machine, but by buying a Bigg Fizz soda with the winning bottle cap in a million-dollar basketball challenge.
Now Nick has four weeks to prepare for a life changing three-point shot during halftime at the NCAA regional finals in Phoenix. If he nails it, he goes home with a cool mil.
But in Las Vegas, sometimes it's hard to tell good luck from bad.
Nick quits his job, dumps his cell phone, hires a coach, and rides the roller coaster of fame, stress, and unintended consequences. Finally, the big day arrives. He steps up to the three-point line...and that's when things get really weird.
Customer Reviews:
This book IS Money!!!!!!!.......2006-11-05
A genuine delight to read, and sprinkled with humor throughout. You don't have to be a basketball "junkie" to enjoy this book. "Nick" Nichols, the main character, has some stellar non-basketball moments in the book with his wife (and his perceptions on married life); with his co-workers (both the good and the bad ones),and with his teenage daughter.
Follow Your Dreams With All of Your Heart.......2006-07-22
Brian Rouff has created a fantastic story illustrating how even the biggest skeptic can achieve his dreams. This book was fast-paced and a very comfortable and enjoyable read. It was refreshing to read a novel that engaged me yet did not weigh me down with material that was too dense.
I think this book is perfect for both the avid and casual sports fan based upon the subject matter involved. However, because of the sacrifices and the journey taken by the main character in the novel, even a non-sports fan will be captivated the idea of a person and his family taking a shot at a lifetime of financial security.
I am greatly anticipating Mr. Rouff's next book!
I didn't think I would, but I loved it!.......2006-05-28
I'm not much of a sports person and so, even though I really enjoyed Dice Angel, I didn't know if I would like this one as much. I couldn't put it down! Rouff's books are as much character studies as they are exciting stories. Just as in Dice Angel, I REALLY cared what happened to these people. I wanted to laugh when they laughed and cry when they cried, and when justice is served in the end, I sent up a cheer. Great book!
I loved it!.......2005-10-04
MoneyShot is an exciting book to read from start to finish. We follow extensive character development of Alan `Nick' Nichols as he goes through a mid life crisis.
MoneyShot is a demonstration of how a person's life can change unexpectedly for the better. We see Nick's transition from a boring and unfulfilled advertising executive, husband and father to an impulsive man gambling away his future a la Vegas style.
Very easy to read and with a witty dialogue, I couldn't put it down till I finished reading it. The only fault I found with the book was that it had to end. Write more Brian Rouff! I loved it.
Brian Rouff "brings it" in this witty tale that's great for the non-sports fan too!.......2005-07-10
Brian Rouff has succeeded in capturing the essence of life in the city of Las Vegas. Money Shot chronicles the unique experience of hoop-dream fortunes gained and lost in a city that all the locals know eventually sleeps.
Money Shot points out the mediocrity of life as a corporate executive in a refreshingly real look at a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
