Funny poetry that makes you laugh out loud!.......2007-03-06
My sons and I have been reading this series. This has to be one of the best! My oldest read it by himself first and then asked me to read it out loud. I honestly had to stop reading at times because I was laughing so hard.

Mr. Klutz is Nuts.......2007-05-22
If you like to laugh, then you have to read Mr. Klutz is Nuts by Dan Gutman. It is a humorous fiction book. This story takes place at a school during the school year. A.J. is a lazy amd unmotivated student at school. He is always saying that school is a waste of time. Mr. Klutz is a wacky and crazy risk-taker. He is always doing dangerous stunts. A.J. doesn't want Mr. Klutz to get hurt. Throughout the school year, Mr. Klutz tries to get the students invloved and interested in school. In the book, A.J. tries to problem solve. He tries to stop Mr. Klutz from doing crazy things. Mr. Klutz climbed the flag pole one day and couldn't get down, so the school called the fire department. My favorite character was Mr. Klutz, because he is a very cool principal. He tries to get the students to enjoy school.
I cannot relate to the characters in the book, because they do very silly things in school. At my school, we take school more seriously. I've acted like Mr. Klutz before. I like to motivate the boys on my baseball team to do well. This is my text-to-self connection. Mr. Klutz motivated the kids to do well in school.
This book was so exciting. I loved it. I would not like to change anything in this book, because it was well written. I think any kid with a sense of humor would enjoy this book. I believe third and fourth graders would really enjoy reading this book.
Mr. Klutz is Nuts.......2007-05-07
My daughter and I read this book and we had fun reading it together. I would recommend to other kids. She liked this book because they had a chocolate party as part of one of their incentives.
A Kids Favorite.......2006-03-11
I read this book aloud to my 1st and 3rd grade daughters. They loved evrey bit of the story. This book is a lot of fun.
An awesome book of my favourite school.......2005-10-23
I really enjoyed this book. I would love to have a principal like Mr Klutz because he would do really funny things and if we studied extremely hard he would give us very interesting field trips. I think this is better than the first book (Miss Daisy is Crazy) because it has more interesting ideas for example in the first book AJ made Mr Klutz wear a gorilla outfit and change the school into a video arcade but in this book AJ makes him kiss a pig and climb a flagpole. In addition once when AJ was sent to the principal's office, Mr Klutz was hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
More fun in school!.......2005-08-10
My seven year old nephew thinks these books are a hoot! Thanks to Dan Gutman for writing books that help to make me his "favorite" aunt.

Miss Daisy, who teaches second grade, doesn't know how to add or subtract. Not only that, she doesn't know how to read or write, either. She is the dumbest teacher in the history of the world!

If you've ever taught second grade..........2006-06-04
I discovered Dan Gutman's Weird School series from tutoring a second grade boy who "hated reading." Not only did he like the books, I loved them!
Second graders are the crazy ones, and these books remind me of when I taught second grade. In fact, I think Dan Gutman must really be a second grader in disguise as a grown-up...
A Crazy Life .......2006-05-17
I think that everyone should read Miss Daisy Is Crazy because it's a fun book. You can learn about her craaazy life. If you laugh and make different voices it will make it even funnier.

This book is really cool........2006-02-08
This book is written by the famous author Dan Gutman. This book is good for ages 8-10. It is a really good book that I know you will enjoy. This boo is so funny. It is really funny. Miss Daisy is teaching second grade and she doesn't even know how to do anything. She is really dumb. The kids in her class are even smarter than miss Daisy. That is why the book is called Miss Daisy is Crazy. I hope for readind my review it will make you read this fabulous book. I hope you are going to enjoy this book.
Teacher's Grade: A-Minus.......2005-10-27
I've been teaching 2nd graders for over ten years and this book is one of my favorites to read aloud to them. The children in my class enjoy the antics of Miss Daisy and eagerly await each new chapter that we get to. The book leads to lively discussions among us about school, teachers, and children, and many of the students I teach have gone on to read and reread this book and others in the series.
Early grade chapter books are not meant to be complex; they're geared for younger readers who are just discovering that reading can by enjoyable. Gutman's book serves as a 'gateway' book that can lead reluctant readers (like the main character AJ) into the world of books.
CRITICAL NIT-PICKING NOTE:
Most of Gutman's book is right on target in terms of capturing the life of a second grader. One area he gets wrong is having the class talk about multiplication in the first week of school. I don't know of any 2nd grade classrooms where students understand multiplying that early in a school year.
Fun for the early school set.......2005-08-10
The first in a wonderfully entertaining series, Miss Daisy is a second grade teacher who needs her students to help her with things she is supposed to be teaching! Imagine the power Miss Daisy's class feels when they get to "help" their nutty teacher.
Fun for new readers and for parents to read aloud to pre-schoolers and kindergarten kids just adapting to school, Dan Gutman has a light touch in showing kids that school can be fun. With so much emphasis on standardized test scores it's great to see that there is someone out there reminding our children that reading can make you smile!

It's Presidents' Day! And Mr. Macky, the reading specialist, actually expects A.J. and his friends to read stuff about the presidents! Not only that, but he lives in a log cabin and thinks he's Abraham Lincoln! Is he for real?
Customer Reviews:
Another fun episode in the My Weird School series.......2007-05-12
A.J. hates school and when he grows up, he's going to be President so he can outlaw school for everyone! President's Day is coming up, so the teachers at A.J.'s school want the students to elect a school president and do oral reports about United States presidents. All A.J. wants is the day off from school and maybe a big screen TV! This is a weird school though, so elections and reports are not as boring as they sound-on Crazy Pets Day, a ferret runs for school president against the teachers! Mr. Macky, the wacky reading specialist, dresses up as all of the presidents to help the kids learn quirky facts, like how FDR's mom made him wear a dress until he was five years old or who was the shortest president. This fun story sneaks in other information too, such as how a democracy works and which famous Americans are on our money. The comic illustrations help the reader get an idea of how A.J.'s mind works. Filled with goofy humor, this fifteenth title in the "My Weird School" series will attract the most reluctant reader.

Gutman Hits it Well, but it Goes Foul.......2004-11-17
This is the third in Mr. Gutman's new series and it was by far my first-grade son's favorite of the three. The narration by AJ, the reluctant school-goer, is engaging and the character of Mrs. Loopy is well-drawn and entertaining. Throughout the book Mrs. Loopy makes attempts to liven up books for AJ in order to turn him into someone who doesn't hate books. Judging by how well the author lured my son (a reluctant reader) into the book, Mrs. Loopy met her objective.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am an elementary school teacher and found three parts of the book objectionable.
1) Mrs. Loopy pulls up her shirt to show a tattoo to AJ and his classmates.
2) AJ and his classmates break into Mrs. Loopy's office instead of lining up with the rest of their class.
3) In the last chapter AJ grabs Mrs. Loopy's shirt and pulls it out in order to have visual access to her belly button.
An enjoyable read, but be aware of those parts before you read.
Book Description
Ms. Hannah wears dresses made out of potholders and collects garbage instead of throwing it out. Plus she's making A.J. be partners with smelly Andrea. This is the worst art class ever!
Customer Reviews:
Ms. Hannah Is Bananas.......2006-10-25
Ms. Hannah Is Bananas by Dan Gutman. This book is about AJ's teacher Ms. Hannah. The characters are AJ, Ryan, Mrs. Hannah, Ms. Daisy, and Andrea. Mrs. Hannah does not have a garbage can, because she never wastes anything. She puts it in a ball. For instance, AJ's friend, Ryan, blew his nose on a tissue and Ms Hannah took it and stuck it on a newspaper ball. It was nasty.
Dan Gut man grew up in New York and his birthday is on October 9, 1955. Dan Gutman wrote a lot of books like Miss Roopy Is Loopy and Miss Daisy Is Crazy. They were good books. I like this book because it is funny and mysterious. It was funny when AJ rode his skateboard and fell off.

Deliriously happy with this one........2007-05-19
I purchased the first two volumes of this series at a local store here in Vancouver for $45.00 each and thought I had a bargain with the quality I found in them. But when I found that there was a third volume available from Amazon for one third of the local price, I jumped at the chance to buy. The first volume has been revised (and if you have the unrevised first edition, the second edition contains `120 pages of new material), but if you are into the type of films covered in these books, they are worth their weight in gold. Each film begins with a look at the disc's technical specs: color, year, running time, director, stars and finally dvd manufacturer and region availability. Then follows a synopsis of the plot, followed by a discussion of each disc's technical merits. These include aspect ratios, color, sound and what king of extras can be found on each disc. For example, I wanted to buy the film "Cube", but I couldn't find a copy in Vancouver, so I drove to Seattle and found a copy there. Having looked the film up in these books, I'm glad I had to drive south. It seems the Canadian disc is a bare bones affair: no extras except the trailer. The American disc on the other hand has tons of extras. This kind of information is hard to find anywhere else. These books will also stand up to constant use as they are very well bound. The only drawback that I have found is that they list films that I very much want, but aren't available in my region. Oh well, at least I know they're out there somewhere. These are excellent guides and at the price Amazon is asking, worth every penny.
