Customer Reviews:
It's OK, but lacks detail.......2005-09-24
It is very broad in scope, but in my opinion it lacks depth. Specifically, there have been several times where I found it did not have goood detailed design info, especially related to practical example diagrams.
So much information, I don't know where to start........2001-12-11
I think this is an excellent book for, first, students and neophytes to learn some standard detailing and systems, and second, novice construction administrators and contractors needing help with some standard practices they might not have seen or know the whole ins and outs of. I will admit that it is not at a beginner level, and you do need some familiarity with construction to understand all of its articles, but the list of contributing editors is a who's who of construction standards, most of them being some sort of expert, whether they serve on buiding code commitees or are esteemed lecturers and each with multiple decades of experience.
The book is divided almost into the cooresponding CSI divisions it deals with. Each section starts out with a great blurb (titled "Common Defect Allegations") about what is to be expected when dealing with particular system. These are especially helpful to generalize a decision about masonry walls vs. concrete, and so on. What really excited me about this book was that in each building system article, there are the cooresponding UBC entries included with the hard to understand ones diagramed out (Like typical distance requirements for light fixtures around a shower or where you need a GFCI plug in your bathroom)
This is a necessary reference for construction and design professionals already in the field. More experienced professionals might find it more useful as a quick reference so they don't have to remember all the code issues and standards for a particular building system. This IS light commercial and residential construction, this book is missing all the steel erection, shoring, heavy concrete, etc. systems. I have found those books, though.
Gene Newell.......2000-07-07
My fiance is an architecture student and although we didn't but the book here it is a great reference to her school work. If she ever has a question concerning framing all she has to do is look it up in this book and all here questions are answered. This is a great book and we recommend it to anybody in the architecture field.
Great To Help Avoid Disputes With Contractor or Vice Versa.......2000-07-05
Residential and Light Commercial Construction Standards is a great book when trying to avoid disputes about various construction standards. It covers everything from asphalt paving; concrete; masonry; finish capentry; cabinetry; and many more.

Book Description
Four sisters, a Manhattan brownstone, and a tumultuous year of loss and courage are at the heart of Danielle Steel’s new novel about a remarkable family, a stunning tragedy—and what happens when four very different young women come together under one very lively roof.
Candy–it’s the only name she needs—is blazing her way through Paris, New York, and Tokyo as fashion’s latest international supermodel. . . .
Her sister Tammy has a job producing the most successful hit show on TV, and a home she loves in L.A.’s Hollywood Hills. . . . In New York, oldest sister Sabrina is an ambitious young lawyer, while Annie is an American artist in Florence, living for her art. . . . On one Fourth of July weekend, as they do every year, the four sisters come home to Connecticut for their family’s annual gathering. But before the holiday is over, tragedy strikes and their world is utterly changed.
Suddenly, four sisters who have been fervently pursuing success and their own lives—on opposite sides of the world—reunite to share one New York brownstone, to support each other and their father, and to pick up the pieces while one sister struggles to heal her shattered body and soul. Thus begins an unscripted chapter of their lives, as a bustling house is soon filled with eccentric dogs, laughter, tears, friends, men . . . and the kind of honesty and unconditional love only sisters can provide. But as the four women settle in, they are forced to confront the direction of their respective lives. As the year passes and another July Fourth approaches, a season of grief and change gives way to new beginnings—as a family comes together to share its blessings and a future filled with surprises and, ultimately, hope.
With unerring insight and compassion, Danielle Steel tells a compelling story of four sisters who love and laugh, struggle and triumph . . . and are irrevocably woven into the fabric of each other’s lives. Brilliantly blending humor and heartbreak, she delivers a powerful message about the fragility–and the wonder—of life.

Danielle Steel is THE BEST.......2007-10-07
My mom and I have been reading Danielle Steel for years and years. We collect all her books. Her stories take you all over the world. She has lived(in real life) in many different parts of the world. And her stories make you feel, as though, you have been there too! And the way she describes her characters in her stories, make you feel as though, you personally know the person. Her books are ones, that you don`t want to put down. You want to finish the story, so you can start another one of her books. She has a new book due out in February 2008. Mom and I can`t wait to read this one!!!!!
Excellent, until a too sudden, too sugarcoated ending!.......2007-09-14
In Danielle Steel's latest novel "Sisters", the story starts out with the usual trademark fairytale quality.
Four sisters with highly successful and interesting careers, are scattered around the world; New York, Los Angeles, Paris and Florence. Hardly your average bunch of ordinary lives.
But that's the beginning. The surface. The setting. Until tragedy strikes and man's vulnerability cuts through whatever glamourous lifestyles the sisters may seemingly enjoy.
Life is turned upside down. Reality is as unexpected, harsh and as far from a fairytale as can be. The best part of the book describes the developments straight forward, honest and with much warmth and insight.
That a happy ending awaits, is Danielle Steel's trademark. However, the way tragedy all too quickly literary turns into happiness is a bit too easy to give the story balance. The pieces of the puzzle fall into place so fast and conveniently for all the family members that the situation is hard to fathom even for the most soft-hearted.
Tragedies ARE overcome but usually it takes time and hardship to build up a new future.
This book could actually have been longer. A more natural development of the situation and not the lightening quick wrapping up of loose ends during the last fifty pages or so, would have given the story more credibility.
Happy solutions are nice, but the turning of events in "Sisters" is simply too sweet and sudden even for a fairytale.
Sisters.......2007-09-06
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. Being one of three sisters I could definatly understand the sisters.
Too Fluffy too perfect !!!.......2007-08-28
Although I did enjoy this book, I found the characters too perfect. The relationships between the sisters seemed too false. All the sisters were beautiful, with great jobs, and would do anything for each other, and they hardly ever had a fight, blah, blah, blah. Most sisters do not get to live like the girls in this fluffy type fairytale.
Should have been a short story - not a novel.......2007-08-20
I have not read DS in many years and now I remember why. This book repeated the same ideas and even the same phrases so often it was annoying. She could have written this book in just a few pages and not missed anything important. I anticipated the predictable story ie. tragedy, depression, find a man fall in love, live happily every after. The rape story seemed thrown in and was all wrapped up too quickly to add anything interesting to the story.

dont waste your time.......2007-01-05
I was looking for a book to get some ideas for the new house I am building and possibly some floor plan ideas. The homes in this book are gaudy east coast cookie cutter types best suited for fairways of some snobby country club golf course. I didnt find one house with a decent kitchen! Why is the kitchen always some tiny room stuck in the corner isolating the cook from the rest of the house. I wanted somthing inspirational and unique. It is also all balck and white with just arcitectural sketches of the houses. If you want ideas, go to the market and pick up a sunset, log homes or westen living magazine for $5 instead, they are full of great ideas and beautiful photos of kitchens, baths and exteriors that dont include hardy plank siding or somthing my 97 year old grandmother would find appealing.
Natural Light House Plans are pretty dim in this review.......2000-04-14
I found this book while trying to find a unique but practical houseplan for a custom home to be built along a riverfront on a bluff. The sunlight is ample at this site. So I was rather optimistic to purchase this book. However, my enthusiasm turned to disappointment in browsing through this rather mundane set of plans. Some of the examples appeared to come from the 1970s prototypes found along Southern California. There were no magical window placements or use of extraordinary skylights and the such. There were a few distinguished types, but none to this reviewer's liking. I did find the adobe prototype of plans seen in the southwest as somewhat interesting in this book. Otherwise, don't let the title fool you.
Book Description
"Human beings feel a universal attraction to light. It is the source of life-giving energy . . . and where there is light there is color."
"Color is light made visible," says Donald Kaufman," and the atmosphere of the air we breathe and the quality of the light passing through it affect how we see color." A wall painted terra cotta in Santa Fe will look very different than a wall painted terra cotta in New York. By understanding the nature of the light and atmosphere in the place where you live, paint palettes for rooms can be selected that will enhance the light and create luminous effects.
In these inspiring pages filled with breathtaking rooms, Kaufman and Dahl have visited homes in different regions of the country and explored the particularities of the light and air in each to show how colors were chosen to enhance the available light. Whether it be the veiled light of the South and Northwest, the dry air and harsh light of the desert, the misted light of northern cities, the incandescent light over water, the clear light of the mountains, or the glaring light reflected from snow, each has its own way of interacting with color indoors. The reader also learns that, just as colors change with the region, they vary with the seasons and times of day. Molecules of air, water vapor, ice crystals, nearby buildings, or the tree branches and leaves we see outside our rooms all interact with painted interiors. We come to understand that the colors on our walls need not be fixed but can reflect the subtle changes that happen outdoors.
In Kaufman and Dahl's Color: Natural Palettes for Painted Rooms, the authors transformed forever the way we see colors in nature and in the paint on our walls. In
Color and Light, they take us one step further to help us understand the role of the kinds of light we live with and how we can bring the sun's warmth and luminosity inside.
Customer Reviews:
A unique and wonderfully inspiring book.......2004-06-01
Two reasons to write this review. One is to counteract, or attempt to balance, the negativity of some of the other reader's reviews. The other is to bring to notice this exceptional book. The ideas that atmosphere, air and geographic location can influence color are not novel thoughts - Dutch master painters and the Provence of Van Gogh come to mind. But to apply such theories to the architectural and interior use of color has not been explored by enough people. Donald Kaufman was first an artist - this obviously influences his perception and methods of working with paint. The book is fascinating for the way it balances ethereal ideas with practical suggestions. The power and influence of localized light is described with excellent prose as well as lovingly selected photographs. Alongside such beauty are supremely helpful suggestions for using color and light in your own environment or in the spaces you are creating for others to enjoy. I have all three of Donald Kaufman and Taffy Dahl's books. Now I await a fourth!
The World of Color.......2002-06-29
This and the two related books (Natural Palettes and the Suzanne Butterfield book on palettes based on D. Kaufman colors)should be read attentively by anyone faced with painting a room. As beautiful as some of the illustrations are, these are NOT coffee table books to browse through. They are full of practical information for painting rooms, including rooms like mine with dark woodwork, hardwood floors, uneven walls, odd-shaped and leaded glass windows, etc. For example -- balancing cool and warm, contrasting or matching color values, using hue to stand up to strong trim, using flat paint to create a soft, smooth wall surface, what to do with dark rooms (Don't paint them white -- the resulting shadows emphasize that they are dark.), the importance of mixing paint colors without using black pigment and the importance of having the full spectrum of pigments in any paint hue, the effect that the color of light in the room will have on the wall color, and much more. The room descriptions are not prescriptions for what one must do but rather examples of the many different effects that can result using fully-pigmented paint of different value, hue, contrasts, etc. under different light conditions. The Butterfield book is a fairly simple presentation. "Natural Palettes" and "Color and Light," particularly the latter book, are sophisticated illustrated explanations of the basic "rules" of light and color through some of the myriad possible results. Read these three books with attention and be rewarded with an appreciation of color and light everywhere(in every house, apartment, store, restaurant, office, etc., on the street, the highway, in the sky, city, country -- you won't be able to help it!) Read these books and you will see, know and care about color and light forever. You'll also have no problem painting your rooms.
Useful and Illuminating.......2002-03-14
Beautiful book with great practical advice about how to choose colors for your home. I've gone gaga over Donald Kaufman's paints, and, although they are expensive, they are only a fraction of the price of Martha Stewart's line for Schreuder.
A dismal failure.......2002-02-27
I love color. I love light. So, I thought I would love this book. Wrong, wrong, wrong. This book is a borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring read. It's like a bad term paper. I dare you to find one idea to take away and use in your own life. The author talks AT you, pontificates, lectures, never asks you a question or makes room for you to react. Talk about over-intellectualizing a topic and taking the fun out of design! Bleah!
YUK.......2001-09-06
THIS IS REALLY UNAPPEALING. THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE BOOK "ATMOSPHERE FOR BEIGE ROOMS." IF YOU WANT A HOUSE WITH ALL THE CHARM OF "BUILDER BEIGE," THEN GO FOR IT. OTHERWISE, KEEP LOOKING FOR A REAL BOOK ON COLOR. (I HAVEN'T FOUND ONE I LIKE YET.)
Customer Reviews:
Worst cookbook ever. .......2007-10-10
I've used a lot of low ingredient, low-fat cookbooks, and this is probably the worst food I've ever had in my life. The food literally tastes like vomit on a plate. Please don't buy this. Invest in a better cookbook.
Great Easy Cookbook.......2007-05-07
This is a great, easy cookbook for anyone looking for simple dinner ideas. It does call for some frozen/prepared ingredients (such as diced pre-cooked chicken or frozen chopped onions) but if you want to use fresh ingredients you can, just plan on spending a little more time on the recipe. Most recipes have just a few simple ingredients (never more than 10) and take either 15 minutes of prep time, 15 minutes of cook time, or 15 minutes total time. The barbeque meatloaf is fantastic! The book includes desserts, salads, an extensive meatless entree section, and chicken, beef, and pork options. I haven't made anything out of this cookbook that I didn't like.
My New Favorite Cook Book - the .......2007-04-12
This is the best cookbook I have seen for busy people (who isn't?) who like tasty food but can't spend a lot of time preparing it. I not only use this for my family--I am teaching a weekly cooking class for my grandchildren using this cookbook. They (all 15 of them in the classes) will probably be even busier when they grow up than we are. This book is so well organized. Main dish with vegetable suggestions and recipes both on the same page, plus suggestions for breads and dessert. The recipes give a nice variety of ways to cook common items (chicken, beef, pork, fish--vegetables--desserts) and even includes the grocery list to the right of each recipe. It also has a full color photo of every recipe. I like the fact that the entire meal, not just the main dish is included. I also like the "No-stress shopping list" If you keep this page of items on hand you can cook over 1/3 the recipes in the book. As if that weren't enough--the food is chosen to provide healthy, well balanced meals that taste delicious. A real winner!! (I am a Mom to 9 children--and a grandmother to 38 children)
Excellent Cookbook!.......2007-01-27
A must have for people who enjoy good food but don't have a lot of time to cook. Tons of quick and healthy recipes that taste great. A favorite in our house.
shoulda known.......2007-01-23
I guess I shoulda known that being a 15 minute cookbook it would call for a lot of frozen ingredients. Unless you're Rachel Ray and can cook up a storm in the matter of a few minutes you will definitely need frozen stuff to make a meal in 15 minutes. Wouldn't recommend if you like fresh ingredients.

Waterworks is not a guide for the do-it-yourselfer. Rather, Waterworks is a love letter to what is presumably the author's favorite room--a justification of that peculiar but widespread obsession that provokes the purchase of fancy lotions and potions, rich terry-cloth towels, and scented candles, and that stimulates dreams of oversized bathtubs and vintage-tile back splashes. According to Barbara Sallick, the mechanics of the bathroom are best left in the hands of experienced contractors--and, herself a professional bath designer and supplier, that approach is only to be expected. In no other room in the house, to be sure, is one in such close physical contact with permanent, immovable, functional fixtures and fittings: sink (called lavatory here), toilet (water closet), and bath (well, just bath). While those elements must be chosen with great care by the people who are to use them every day, they must be installed flawlessly, and professionals are the ones to do that.
Sallick's book won't help you lay out a bathroom floor plan, install a shower, or choose tiles (though her brief glossary of terms provides the language one might need in order to communicate with a subcontractor). It will, however, help you figure out exactly what you want, organizing those grandiose dreams into something a contractor will understand. Here are some things you'll want, after reading the Waterworks bath supplier co-owner's book: handcrafted (most definitely handcrafted) faucet handles, an antique enameled medicine cabinet, creamy bone hair comb and blond-wood shaving brush, glass canisters for cotton balls and swabs, marble and lots of it, exposed plumbing under a vintage lavatory basin, and perhaps a towel warmer. The bathrooms featured here, whether that be the large ones or the small, glorious, luxurious, or austere, are not for the faint of budget. --Liana Fredley

A great addition to your decorating library.......2002-04-27
This book gets into the nooks and crannies of bathroom decorating. Details are abound and you end up learning more than you ever thought you would about the bathroom. From tiles to apothecary, nothing is overlooked. The rooms pictured are flawless. This will not disappoint! A+++
The best bath book.......2001-06-06
Waterworks is one of the best bath books I have ever seen from a teaching standpoint. The book offers great advice about selecting fixtures, a variety of surfaces and adding accessories among others. Every aspect of designing the perfect bathroom is covered in the right amount of detail. I especially loved the section, "finding creative storage solutions" in a bathroom and the images complement each section to truly bring the bathroom descriptions alive. A must have for anyone trying to remodel a bathroom. Also makes for a great "coffee table" book, sure to start an evening of fun conversations.

Book Description
The incomparable Nicole Jordan weaves a seductive tale of passion and betrayal, intrigue and destiny, in her most devastatingly delicious love story yet. . . .
THE PRINCE OF PLEASURE
He is England’s most notorious rake. Known as Dare to his friends, the wicked, outrageously charming Marquess of Wolverton is a consummate pleasure-seeker. But the seductive lifestyle is just his way of burying painful memories of the dazzling actress who once shattered his heart. When treachery threatens the Crown, Dare resolves to use his former beloved to help unmask a deadly traitor.
Forced to betray the only man she ever loved, Julienne wants simply to forget the tender passion they had known as young lovers. But when Dare publicly vows to have her again as his mistress, she responds to his challenge with a vow of her own: to bring the Prince of Pleasure to his arrogant knees.
As romantic adversaries, they play a provocative game of seduction. As patriotic allies, they embark on a perilous mission rife with danger and desire. And as their unforgettable passion rekindles, together they discover what Dare has long denied—that true love is the greatest pleasure of all.
Customer Reviews:
Fiesty,Fiery, and Fun!!!.......2005-08-01
I have always been a fan of Catherine Coulter, Johanna Lindsey and last but not least Virginia Henley, and having read all of their historical romances and running out of new and interesting authors, it is refreshing to find an author who has the same kind of passion for writing as my favorites.
Nicole Jordan incites a response from the reader and I found that I couldn't put the book down. I fell asleep reading The Prince of Pleasure and woke up and picked up where I left off, because I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
Having said all that, yes, I like books with intrigue too, but not too much. This book really didn't need the whole bit about the assassin to pull you along, their antics were more than enough to keep me interested.
The hero was flawed but, he's supposed to be, and the heroine was defiant but helplessly submissive, but would not let body overly rule her head but her heart was no match for him. I am currently waiting for the new Virginia Henley novel, and The Prince of Pleasure has kept me thoroughly entertained. It also has led me to an author I hadn't had the pleasure to enjoy until now, an author who isn't afraid to burn the pages, as well as my imagination.
best nicole jordan book!.......2005-05-04
If you've read the other books in Nicole Jordan's Notorious series then you MUST read this book! its the best out of them all along with THE SEDUCTION which you should read first, so you can get a gist of this Lord Clune hotty :D
The best I have read of Jordan's books.......2005-01-24
But then, I haven't been that fond of her others. The Prince of Pleasure presents a deeper relationship and a more involved plot. Although Dare's rationale for his ultra hedonistic lifestyle seems stretched and Julienne's reasons for never revealing the truth about her past appears slight once her mother died, they are still more fully realized characters than I have previously encountered from Jordan's pen. Dare remains rather self-centered for much of the book, but he has a pleasing vulnerability. Julienne exhibits great inner strength.
The traitor plot is rather obvious in its intention to thrust these two people together, but it retains a sense of mystery and excitement. The book is sometimes slow, and as always, Jordan allows the sex scenes to dominate the narrative--but much less than usual in this effort, to great effect. Indeed, only toward the end does this penchant begin to annoy.
I had intended to avoid more of Jordan's books, but I already had this one from the library and decided to read it, frankly not expecting much. Nicole Jordan will never be at the top of my author's list, but at least I found this one to be better than the others I have read.
A very hot sensual regency romance.......2004-09-04
Jeremy Adair North (Dare) is known as the Prince of Pleasure. 7 years ago, Dare lost his heart to the young Julienne Laurent, a french emigrée. He courted her during one summer of innocent love but was betrayed when he found her in the arms of another man. Julienne had pretended to betray Dare because his grandfather would have disowned him if Dare had married Julienne. So in order to forget Julienne, Dare has been living a life of debauchery taking his pleasures in carnal sins.
7 years later, Julienne has become a celebrated actress treading the London boards. Julienne and Dare's path cross again when Dare is employed to uncover a traitor, the notorious Lord Caliban. Dare thinks that Julienne may be involved with the Caliban and publicly announces that he will make Julienne his mistress. In return, Julienne wagers that she will bring Dare to his knees.
As Dare discovers that Julienne is indeed not in league with the Caliban, together they play a dangerous game of uncovering the true identity of the Caliban.
I didn't care much for the story about the Caliban but the love story between Dare and Julienne was engaging and the love scenes were so hot that the pages will burn your fingers. Be warned that the sex scenes were very graphic and may not be agreeable to all readers. Otherwise a rather good read.

Another "KEEPER": torrid, loving, exciting, great characters.......2004-07-03
Another **winner** from Nicole Jordan, who over the past few months has completely won me over as a reader!!
I normally don't like rakes who are AS RAKISH, and outrageous, and daring , as 'Dare' North, Lord Wolverton, but Ms. Jordan has scored quite a coup... she's made me fall in love with this hero... .he is really quite tired of being a rake (he's still young, but nevertheless...). He 's only ever been in love once , seven years earlier, with the then 17-yr-old beauty Julienne Laurent, of noble French birth, but an emigre at age 4. She may as well be British ,
having lived there for most of her life, but ---this is 1807 , smack-dab in the middle of the Napoleonic/Peninsula Wars, and there's no real love lost between the English nobility and the French Royalists, who want a real king on the throne, not that upstart Corsican , Bonaparte; but MARRYING one of those emigres was quite another thing. Dare wanted to marry Julienne (he calls her his Jewel) 7 years back, despite his grandfather, then-Lord Wolverton; but the old man refuses, vehemently....
Dare still wants her, badly, anyway, he LOVES her... and she , him, but , because the grandfather will disown him if they wed, and because she cannot bear the thought of Dare resenting her for this later on, she breaks off their love in the only way she can think of (it's ingenious, I won't give it away), and Dare is CRUSHED. Her ruse worked, only too well... Dare leaves, vowing never to love again (and certainly not HER), and then the old man trashes Julienne's name in polite society, accusing her of being a traitor to Britain, of being in league with the Bonapartists...
It's a complex plot... and the subplot [I am often bored by subplots, but this is so well-written , so much research has been done for the sake of accuracy in the broader historical backdrop to the main story, that it's fascinating!!] ... the subplot is Dare's (and Lucian's , from DESIRE), and then Julienne's search for the evil Caliban, who may be about to assasinate the one person in Britain who can help convince the French to overthrow Bonaparte and keep him out, that is, Lord Castlereagh.... Julienne had become an actress in the years since the horrible break with Dare, and she is quite accomplished, although of course actresses were not allowed in the upper echelons, the best circles... not at all.
Dare sees her on stage after 7 years have passed; she is lovelier than ever at 24, and he is older too, but still young, and sick and tired of playing the rake. It's hard to make me believe men such as this are in earnest about really changing their ways, and Dare is INDEED outrageous in his 'pursuit' of Julienne.... the things he does and says are the stuff romantic/sensual dreams fantasies are made of!... but still, he loves her, and I believe it. I believe him. He has never stopped loving her, nor she, him, but the divide between them is a huge chasm now... I won't give the book away; there is still so much more in this tight, complex plot!
He is bent on revenge for what she did to him 7 years before, and she loves him madly but is very proud, as he is.
Their pride and mistrust must be overcome in order for any love to flourish between them again, and Ms. Jordan makes it FLOURISH, all right....
I was actually blushing in places, and loving every minute of it! NO ONE writes such torrid yet romantic and loving scenes as beautifully as Ms. Jordan. I have a few other fave authors, but her love scenes are to die for, the best.
How will Dare and his lovely Jewel come together again? How can their love ever be made alive again? How can they learn the truth about their deepest feelings of longing for one another?
Read it, and find out. It's GREAT!!!
Dare and Julienne are REAL people, with real feelings... and it shows on every delicious page.
Brava, Nicole Jordan!
I never re-read books unless it's worth my time, and I'm rereading this one , now... it's even better than the first time.
I love ALL the books in her 'Notorious' series, and her recent MASTER OF TEMPTATION is another killer....
have fun, dear readers!

What can words say for books written by the Thoene's? I have not read any Christian books until these and I find that these are the best! They enlighten you on the life and times of Jews in Israel in the first century.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent .......2007-05-21
Very detailed with corresponding illustrations. My favorite construction book out of 10. Covers all variations of complex rafter roofs. Also check out Roof Framer's bible for tables and corresponding math if u hate those construction calculators.
For advanced roof cutters.......2007-01-01
This book really helped me work through some issues I was having with cutting
a complex roof. I don't know if I could have done it otherwise. Beginning framers would also benefit from the book as it offers some advice in that area as well. Be sure you get the Journal of Light Construction edition NOT the edition published by Craftsman Book Company. I don't think there is a better book for advanced roof cutters.
Look no further!.......2006-02-27
This is the best book currently available on roof cutting. It is enhanced through the authors extensive experience and inspirational passion for his craft. It is written for those who already have an understanding of framing and would like to grow in their knowledge. The layout makes it an easy to use quick reference guide for the particular aspects one might wish to inform themselves about on any given day.
I was impressed and encouraged by Will Holladay after purchasing his book. He showed me the joy, the satisfaction, and the excellence that can be achieved by doing what one was created to do.
Only book you need.......2005-06-05
I have been in construction for about 5 years, and almost all of the roofs I have worked on are truss roofs. I am interested in getting into roof cutting/stacking, so I have been buying a few books. But this is the only book you need. Everything is explained very well, with a lot of pictures. And he gives a lot of techniques that can be used. The author himself used to be a production roof cutter, one of the best in the business. Out of all the roof framing books, the only other one I have bought that I plan on keeping is the roof framer's bible. It is a very handy little book to have.
This Book is a Must Have for RoofCutters.......2004-11-28
This is a must have book for roof framing. The drawings and principles are layed out very well and as cleanly as you can for a book like this. It covers just about every roof framing situation you will likely encounter, and the principles and techniques will help you solve the ones that aren't covered.
If you are serious about learning to cut and stack roofs, then buy this book. Or if you are like me, buy a few and give them to your framers.
