Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Spider-Man, while supposed to be younger here, of course, almost looks like you took McFarlane's version and locked him in a cupboard for 2 weeks and didn't let him eat.
Plenty of big eyes for the young manga-like loving kiddies too, seems to have worked.
Some fun bits, Gwen Stacy seems to have stepped out of a gang, and they threw in a Jenny Sparks joke.
Kraven the Crocodile Hunter, and the dacking of Doc Ock.
Overall, not too bad, but not a style I like much.
Doc Ock + Kraven= Brilliant!.......2005-07-13
This review is for Ultimate Spider-Man vol. 3 paperback edition: Double Trouble
Doctor Octopus has long been one of Spider-Man's greatest villains, and this volume sees his entrance into the Ultimates world. Horribly disfigured after his accident in Osborn lab's in volume one, Otto Octavius insane and out for blood. Add into the mix, Kraven, who fancies himself the world's ultimate hunter, and his new prey is Spider-Man.
Once again, Bendis bring his best game when scripting this book. The writing is wonderful, the characters very real and very human. His take on Gwen Stacy is very unlike mainstream Gwen Stacy but the result is a very likable character. His approach to Mary Jane and Peter's relationship is also very teenage and appealing.
Bagley and Thibert's pencils are nice, and appropriate to the book, though the character's are a little wide eyed at times, and their take on Doc Ock's body didn't mesh with my personal image of the character.
This is the perfect Ultimate Spider-Man graphic to buy for someone who has seen Spider-Man 2 and wants to read a comic with Doc Ock in it. This book is also appropriate for all ages and for comic collectors and newcomers alike.
This volume reprints Ultimate Spider-Man #14-21. Highest recommendations!
In Love With Comics Again.......2003-09-11
The Ultimate Spider-Man series is the best thing that has happened to comics in a long time. I love what Bendis and the crew have done with my favorite web-slinger. I get done reading a few pages and just smile. The artwork in this series is pure and clean. I can't see any way to make it any better except to keep the issues coming. Gwen was always the one I wanted for Pete, even though MJ is the best. I hope this time around Gwen is here to stay.
ugh.......2003-08-28
I started loosing interst in the newer spider man books after this comic, i found a disturbance with the second one that was more artist than story but volume 3's story is cheezy but spider man is still the man, even if they try to change his persona and twist the story.
Spider-Man takes on Doctor Octopus and Kraven the Hunter.......2003-04-05
Just when I thought the game plan of the "Ultimate Spider-Man" with regards to the love life of his alter-ego Peter Parker was to go directly to Mary Jane Watson, passing Betty Bryant and Gwen Stacy, when scribe Brian Michael Bendis drops the later into the action. This version of Gwen is big on the mascara and perfectly willing to pull a switchblade on a bully, both of which are completely valid reasons for Peter to have his eyes pop out of his head when he looks at her. Not even her police Captain father can reign in this blonde tornado.
At this point in the comic book the stage is merely being set for the impending love triangle, but I have to tell you that what is happening here is clearly a take off on "Dawson's Creek." Seriously. Peter is Dawson, Mary Jane is Joey, and Gwen is Jen (No, Flash is not Pacey; Kong is closer to being Pacey than Flash, but Peter Parker does not have a friend, which means Harry is not Pacey either). This should prove to be interesting, especially given that Mary Jane already know's Peter's big secret. But at this point the main problem is that Aunt May has an over inflated opinion about her nephew's love life. Yes, things might actually be worse for our hero this time around.
The title of "Double Trouble" has to do with the fact that in this collection of "Ultimate Spider-Man" #14-21, Spider-Man has not one but two villains after him (I was going to say two super villains, but that would not be the case). The new and improved bad guys this time around are Doctor Octopus, who has come out of his coma to discover his tentacles are fused to his skin, and Kraven the Hunter, who is now a reality television star from Down Under. Clearly, the more you know about the original Spider-Man comics and his various foes the more you will enjoy Bendis's refinements and provocative changes. At the end of this collection Spider-Man enjoys his biggest moment in the sun since the spider bit him, which quickly follows with a particularly low moment for Peter. Even when we think we know the rules of the game, Bendis continues to surprise us.
"Double Trouble" is the third trade paperback collection of "Ultimate Spider-Man" comics, which re-imagines the webhead as a younger Peter Parker trying to learn the ropes of being a superhero. But for those who read the first couple hundred issues of the original "Amazing Spider-Man" this is a hyper retelling of the tale. Forget all the ... superheroes Spidey had to fight with; this time around the focus is on the best and the baddest. The biggest difference between these first 21 issues of "Ultimate Spider-Man" and the original comic is that a single issue is no longer a complete story; it takes eight issues for the conflict between Spidey and Doc Ock to develop and be resolved. Consequently, we have the rather paradoxical fact that things are happening much faster for Spider-Man in this retelling of the tale while taking longer to develop. I continue to be impressed by this brilliant "re-imagining," which is drawn by Mark Bagley with inks by Art Thibert and Erik Benson.
Book Description
Growing up on Philadelphia’s gritty streets, Jermaine Banks was used to fighting, but life has now thrown him some unexpected hooks and jabs. I couldn't put the book down.......2005-06-01
Once I read the first chapter I was hooked. This story had a lot of real life issues and once I read the first few pages I had to see what was going to happen next. Jermaine was a good bad boy who saw the need to change and found a way to do just that. He made some good decisions and also found a way to forgive those who wronged him in the past. This book just made my heart swim with emotion and I can not wait until Travis Hunter writes his next story.
Positive African American Story.......2005-01-07
I really enjoyed looking into the lives and struggles of the hood and also of african american men. Jermaine is a dude that has never worked and always hustled to make ends meet. He has a son of his own and decides that he doesn't want to let his son down and be the type of father he had. Jermaine's father Calvin was never in his life besides sending money. So Jermaine was left for the streets to raise him. Everyone has to deal with the decisions they make in life. Mr. Hunter displays that alot. People having to deal with their life's decisions in the end rather good or bad. But this is a powerful story the tells stories on so many levels other than what I have written here. Read it, you won't be disappointed.
And a trouble man he was.......2004-10-19
This book was another piece adding to my collection. I like this book alot it was truly worthed my time. Jermaine was indeed a trouble man from the little things as a rat down to the most serious things as his life. This book will keep you turning turning turning
GREAT BOOK WITH A POSITIVE MESSAGE!!!.......2004-10-10
The heroine in this novel is a young African-American man named Jermaine. Jermaine lives in the inner city, and comes from a single-parent household. Having never known his father, he tries to be the best parent that he can be to his young son Khalil. But the lure of the streets, his other parent, is tough to ignore...can he do the right thing and be the role model to his son that he needs to be? In a nearby Philadelphia suburb (but worlds away from his son's North Philadelphia neighborhood socioeconomically,) Calvin Sharpe has just announced to his wife of 30 years that he is leaving her. The thrill is gone, and his white mistress is waiting in the wings. Calvin dropped out of his son's life years ago because of Jermaine's difficult mother, and hasn't missed a beat. But you know what they say about a woman scorned; and Robin, Calvin's wife, refuses to be deserted. She's going to tell, and tell it all.....for she knows all about young Jermaine that her husband abandoned. Soon the whole family knows of Jermaine's existence, and they can't wait to meet him. Meanwhile, Calvin's idyllic life seems to be collapsing like a house of cards....but is it too late for him to make things right with his oldest son?
A quick read, this was a positive, uplifting book about the power of the Black man...when he allows himself to be empowered. I enjoyed this novel so much, I will be actively looking for additional work from Mr. Hunter.....

Awesome book!!! A must read!!!.......2004-09-27
This book is simply fantastic!!! I could not put this book down, and Travis Hunter was actually able to make it in such a way that you could have compassion for Jermaine Banks despite the choices he made in his life.
Jermaine Banks is a 29 year old drug dealer. Jerome is a father to a son he loves with all his heart, and has a child on the way with his girlfriend Erin. Erin who wants him to leave the drug life behind. Add into that equation his girlfriends over protective family who does not like Jermaine. Jermaine finds out some news that will change his world. He finds out he has a father he did not know he had, but he also finds out he has a brother. Calvin is a man who has a successful business, but turns out his business dealings are not as legit as they seem. The book focuses on Jermaine making positive choices in his life so he can change his life for the better. He wants to gain custody of his son from his baby's mother, and he wants to do his best to get to know the family (minus his father) that he did not realize he had. We watch as he struggles with his emotions. He wants to do get a job, but will he be able to find one that will pay him enough to support himself and his son. He wants to move out of his neighborhood to avoid the temptation. He wants to be the type of father to his son, that his own father was not to him. He realizes after a good friend of his is gunned down that he has to leave the life.
In this book you will find yourself really feeling for the characters. You feel the inner turmoil of Louis Sharpe (grandfather to Jermaine, and Father to Calvin). You know he wonders if he truly raised his son right, if Calvin could do all that he has done.
Calvin Sharpe, so focused on making money, he could care less about the people in his life, and the pain he brings to his family. Calvin hopes he can right the wrongs in his life before it's too late.
C. J. has the life Jermaine is envious of. The material things like the big house, the maid, everything that money could buy. What he really wanted is his father's love, guidance, and attention.
Mr. Hunter put a subtle, yet poignant message in the book. The message in the story is dealing with the consequences of your actions. It's a book about life in the hood, without it being all thugged out, and that's why I enjoyed it so much. What I also found very fascinating is both Jermain and Calvin were both hustler's in their own way. Jermaine was a street hustler, and Calvin was a corporate hustler. Different lifestyles, but not so different.
The plot twists in this book make this a page turner for sure. I think anyone who reads this novel will really enjoy it. I know I did!!

Ultimate Spider-Man is a brilliant "re-imagining" that follows a younger and slightly hipper Peter Parker easing into the role of hero for the first time.
As if juggling high school and superheroics weren't enough, Peter Parker now must contend with the deranged Dr. Otto Octavius--out to kill everyone and anyone associated with the accident that grafted monstrous metal tentacles to his body. And that includes Peter!
Plus: From the bleak Australian outback emerges the most dangerous man alive--Kraven the Hunter! His vow: to bag America's most elusive prey--Spider-Man!
It's the biggest battle of the young wall-crawler's fledgling career as Spidey takes on the terrifying tag team of Dr. Octopus and Kraven--on live TV!!
Book Description
A sexy, intimate and fearless account of a shattering love affair between a charistmatic Afghan man and a Jewish American writer infatuated with his culture, The Book of Trouble is also a provocative and original exploration of the so-called "clash of civilizations." Marlowe's vivid, gritty evocation of daily life in Afghanistan brings to life a luminous place she thinks of as "the morning of the world". She finds a similar re-discovery of feeling when she is in bed with Amir, "the gift of loving someone, which is incalculable"--but also, ultimately, a"terrible gap between hearts."
Marlowe finds complexity and beauty in Afghanistan, not the caricature of evil men and oppressed women. In fact, she found much that Americans can learn from in the warmth, tenderness and respect of Afghan family life and marriage. As Marlowe travels from Mazar-i-Sherif to her sophisticated, cynical New York world and then to Baghdad in the aftermath of the American invasion, she makes perhaps her most provocative claim: that we Americans, for all our self-help books, have forgotten how to take love and sex seriously.
A candid, wrenching love letter to the world of feelings we have lost, The Book of Trouble is unique and unforgettable.

SO MUCH ABOUT NOTHING; BORING.......2007-04-04
WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT ANN MARLOW'S EXPLORATIONS INTO HER AFFAIR OF NINE MONTHS WITH A GUY CALLED AMIR-DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS, TRY IT FOR YOURSELF AND FIND OUT. BORING IN THE EXTREME-TALK ABOUT PUTTING YOUR TO SLEEP. IF SHE IS A WRITER, SO I AM. IT IS SO VAGUE,SKIPPING FROM POINT TO ANOTHER--CONFUSING. DID NOT LIKE IT-WAS NOT WORTH MY TIME TO READ. DH
So much to think about.......2007-04-03
I liked this book very much and have recommended it to friends. I'm sure I disagree with Marlowe's politics--especially regarding the war in Iraq--as much as anybody else, but that didn't dim my appreciation for her work nor make any of her ideas suspect. She brings her intelligence and the perspective that comes from having led an interesting life to her interesting range of topics; that's a combination that wins my attention and admiration every time. I also found this a very brave work, in that the most tender areas that she probes are located on her own heart.
A Must read !.......2006-03-11
Very deep enlightening and well written. I was so struck by this wonderful love, or non love story, that I read it in one sitting ! Ann writes with passion nothing is held back, buy it today !!
A Different Kind of Love Letter...........2006-03-09
An intimate intellectual travelogue about sex and culture at unusual personal depth, Ann Marlowe's The Book Of Trouble read itself quickly. I was saving it for an impending vacation because it seemed a clever choice for traveling with a lover, but I started sampling and wound up consuming the whole thing before I packed.
Training her Harvard-honed overachieving mind on a tasty range of sexual, sociological, and cultural targets, Marlowe manages to turn her pursuit of a younger Afghan man into an exploration of her family's troubled history, womanhood in Muslim society, and the various ways contemporary Americans attempt to control (and effectively suppress) romance and lust.
Marlowe can annoy at times with steely strictures, but that's part of her disarming charm as a writer. Most of the judgments here are about her. Even when she tearfully mulls the wisdom and phrasing of chasing a lost lover, she rarely whines. She struck me as looking for truth in her experiences, as if peeling an onion that she fears her heart has become after decades of hip romancing.
The book is a grand tide of digression, but its structure reliably supports her queries as she falls in love and follows Old Glory to Mazar-i-Sherif, Kabul, and Baghdad, all the while yearning for a perfect intimacy that she fears she wasn't born to have. In asking why this is and whether it must continue to be, she entertains the mind that overlooks the heart and she provokes readers to contemplate their own solitude in this busy "sexy" world.
Excellent.......2006-02-02
This is a wonderful, wide ranging, engaging memoir. It's all here - cousin marriage, intergenerational sex, cultural differences (and not the tedious starch you get served up in so much travel writing), criticisms of American society, a strong heart and powerful searching intelligence. "The Book of Trouble" is at the outset a love story. West Village writer meets significantly younger man from Afghanistan. Is he acceptable as a lover? No. Does she even consider him? No. Do they get together? Yes, briefly, savagely, and then sadly: it's all over.
Ann Marlowe is an acutely observant viewer of herself, and those around her: what they say, and what they think. She understands that what love is based on is a kind of tribalism, that you fall for people who reflect or refract the milieu you were raised in. The distance between herself, an American Jew, and Amir, an Afghan Muslim is, as she notes, much less than might be first imagined. Pursuing Amir, Marlowe is also pursuing Afghanistan, and the Middle East, and that chewy topic: America. What do Muslims have that the contemporary US has lost? Can it be retrieved? How? The love affair with Amir is always gently nudged back to politics and place.
Picky giddy people should beware. This is probably not a book to read if you think that someone like Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi cannot be a rogue, and also charming. It's not for you if you imagine it's witty to cast aspersions on the author just because whipping-boy-du-jour James Frey has praised it. It's not for you if you like ideas and events neatly dissected and served on a plate like so much mental sashimi: appetising at the outset, but then an hour later you're hungry again. Yes, "The Book of Trouble" has troubling themes, but their treatment is invigorating and satisfying.

Book Description
Legendary screen comedian Jerry Lewis once said, "The premise of all comedy is a man in trouble." The films that endeared Lewis and others to us hinged on the physical assault of their hero, the pie in the face or slip on the banana peel that reduced the movie star to the level of the audience. Alan Dale presents a lively and accessible look at slapstick, a form of comedy with roots in the circus and vaudeville that has been refashioned by actors ranging from Buster Keaton to the Marx Brothers, from Katharine Hepburn to Jim Carrey.
Alan Dale worked at a Los Angeles talent agency before earning a Ph.D. in comparative literature from Princeton University. He is currently working toward a J.D. at Yale Law School.
Winner of the Theater Library Association's Special Jury Prize for Distinguished Achievement
Customer Reviews:
Bringing slapstick into the 21st Century.......2000-11-08
Dale's book is an entertaining and academic look not only at the medium of slapstick itself but also at our need to be entertained by it. The book's examination of silent slapstick includes not only the major players (Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd) but also covers women in silent comedy. What's also respectable is that Dale discusses Jerry Lewis's important contribution to slapstick in film without putting him on the pedestal other critics (and often Lewis himself) put him on, as well as Lewis's influence on contemporary visual humorists like Jim Carrey and the Farrelly Bros.
Book Description
Naomi Connor is a hot computer security consultant who breaches unbreachable defenses before hackers can. Her new assignment is a security audit for the company she nearly destroyed herself once as an illegal hacker. Returning to the scene of her crime could put her reputation and heart at risk when she meets the Chief Technology Officer Joe Casey, conservative at heart and cynical about love. But Naomi has ways of penetrating all kinds of firewalls and generating the kind of sparks even Joe can't ignore. But with a secret like hers, romance could be big trouble.
Customer Reviews:
I still remember this book.......2007-01-27
Books that I can remember most of everything that happens in it a year later is well worth giving a five star rating. I just recently thought about this book and thought how enjoyable it was to read. I thought the storyline flowed quite well with interesting twist and personal touches. The story kept you interested and guessing. If I could complain about anything, the ending wasn't on par with the rest of the book. It just didn't flow as well as the rest.
EXCELLENT!.......2006-11-20
I was amazed by the quality of this book. The writing, the characters, and the believability are all there. The characters - Naomi and Joe - are very 'real' - you are definitely not reading a formula romance - the characters have normal conversations, normal interactions, and a 100% believable romance. It's hard to explain, but the book was just .. perfect. I didn't feel as if I was dropping my level of intelligence to read this; in fact, the writing is quality and the conversations between characters feel like they are taking place in `real-time.' There were a lot of scenes that women can identify with, and I really liked how honest Naomi was - it was great. She didn't say the right things just to get the guy - she was her own woman, and when she didn't like something, she said that. The book was funny, sexy, intelligent. There was a minimal amount of swearing, and the characters really grew and developed throughout the novel. Every scene was necessary to the plot and I really liked how Naomi had body issues - it was overdone a bit at times, but it helped to bring more sensitivity to the character of Joe. Anyway, the plot was rather lame, but the book is character-driven anyway so it didn't matter much. The lead male - Joe - is very sexy, and his banter/interaction with Naomi was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the scenes between Joe and his family. Very high marks for this effort and I look forward to reading more from this author.
This is a keeper.......2006-08-19
Sequel to her debut book, MY HERO.
When she was twelve years old, Naomi Connor innocently hacked into Brennan Shipping, a company with many sensitive defense contracts, and almost destroyed them. When she realized what she'd done, Naomi turned herself in. She wasn't charged because of Brennan CEO Mary Casey's compassion.
Now, twenty years later, former hacker Naomi is a computer security expert and leads a team hired to test Brennan's new security system. She works closely with Mary Casey's son, Joe, a lawyer and the current CTO for the family-owned company. Joe has strong negative feelings about hackers and he doesn't know Naomi was the hacker back then. They both have rules about romancing coworkers and resist each other as long as possible. But the attraction is hot and they fall in love.
This story was emotional, steamy and funny. The way Naomi and Joe got turned on by speaking "geek" was a kick. Naomi was an amazing character - smart, kind, honest, witty - a strong woman. A terrific sequel, well written, can't think of a thing I'd change.
A great read - A "cannot put it down" book.......2006-07-28
For a relatively new comer to the publishing world, this author has written two very good books. This being her second, is actually better than the last. Although a romantic comedy, there is suspense in this book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are also a few unexpected surprises too. The story is full, the characters are great-one feels they really get a handle on them and gets to know them. The actual story line is interesting and captivating- this is definitely not "fluff". The storty is also relavent in today's world with internet and corporate security very much a reality in our lives.
Love it!.......2006-07-08
I was looking forward to readig another of Marianna Jameson's books and was excited to see Big Trouble. Well she did it, she topped my Hero, Love it! I really enjoy the characters in this book and the story line adds some excitement and suspense. I can't wait to turn the page to see what happens next.

Customer Reviews:
Almost..but not quite..has its moments..but..........2007-04-15
Like another reader here, I read the book out of curiosity and after visiting a website where this author got mercilessly trashed by women who are obviously jealous of her because she got the man, the career and the seemingly "charmed" life...and the other women didn't!
So just to prove the detractors wrong, I decided to give the book a try, but I have to admit I am somewhat disappointed. Mind you, there was no excuse for those harpies to pick at the author in the meanspirited way they did, but I can almost see where she left herself wide open for such criticism...just by this weakness inherent in this book. Strange, with Ms. Craft's educational background and life experiences, you'd think the book would have more credibility, but it misses the mark considerably..
At points, this book just reads too much like the "Mary Sue" kind of fan fiction that most people tend to hold in contempt...and when the author is also the fan, of course, this will infuriate any reader regardless of the genre.
I also had a real problem with all the multiple points of view in the book. That is a definite "no no" in romance fiction...only the most convincing of writers can pull it off successfully.
Another thing that weight this book down? Too many subplots...and non-credible ones at that.
The final nail in the coffin? A hero that can't be described in other terms but a*hole. I did not find any reason to be attracted to him...and I don't understand why the heroine would be attracted. Lord willing, art really doesn't reflect life in this case...because if so I see a marriage headed for trouble :(
Ok, there were times where I laughed at some of the humorous parts of the book, like that fake guru, but there were far more other parts of the book where I nearly threw the book against a wall. I was beginning to lose my patience because of how the plot begins to get thinner and thinner the further I read.
The character herself, Molly/Sandra, I wanted to just slap her at times! Some of the things she did were outright stupid...and I would be hard pressed for anyone to feel sympathy for this character or for the hero to truly find her ways attractive. The protagonist was written too stereotypical for my tastes...the "prim" professor and the "seductive" novelist in one person? Please. Most those scenarios and plot devices come straight out of a "b" grade 1930s screwball comedy, and it's simply not funny for the 21st century reader who expects a heroine who has something on the ball...and not chock full of contrived drama.
Most of the storyline simply isn't believeable and while I consider myself blessed with a substantial imagination, even I can't suspend disbelief for that long. So I would say if you're looking for even beach reading, give this book a pass.
A Little Over the Top for Me..........2006-10-23
This story line is fantastic, the actual story was a little of a let down.
There were scenes I found a little unbelievable and some that could have been expanded. I found the way they came together was a little quick and unbelievable for such characters. I also felt the way they had their first sexual encounter was not true to character style.
Over all it was a nice story, a good beach or weekend read without a whole lot of depth.
Racy novelist finds love & pirates in the Caribbean.......2005-06-18
Molly Shaw is a mousy history professor at a prestigious Wisconsin university who writes racy novels in her spare time under the pseudonym, Sandra St. Clair. She begrudgingly agrees to be "Sandra" for a couple weeks to attract the attention of a press-shy playboy billionaire Jack Berenger so that her friend Carter can write a biography of him and become famous himself.
Jack meets both Sandra and Molly. While Sandra, with her flowing blonde hair (wig), blue eyes (contacts), and curvy body (padding) are nice, he is more fascinated by Molly's lack of beauty regimen and complete rapture in telling pirate stories. He knows there's more under the packaging. Soon she's digging up the past to find that a female pirate once occupied the island the resort is on - and her plantation's right dab in the middle of Jack's proposed golf course. Klutzy Molly manages to fool Jack for a little while, but soon the jig is up. She's ready to leave his island until he propositions her to pose as his fiance to fend off bad publicity and a hostile takeover. She's a sedate alternative from the actresses he usually is linked with. Circumstances make her feel she has no choice but to take him up on his offer, provided he gives Carter an interview.
There is a lot of chemistry with Jack and Molly. And Carter's marriage-challenged matchmaker half sister is a hoot. But throughout the story, I found it hard to believe that someone as nice as Molly would put up with a friend as selfish as Carter. I would have slugged him after being tripped with a boat oar! The story is like a Susan Elizabeth Phillips novel without the requisite sizzle factor, which does not detract from the story (just makes us have to use our imagination more).
Fun book - I was laughing out loud!.......2004-10-08
My husband asked me to "pipe down" because I was laughing so hard as I read this book. I had been recommended to me, and I'm glad I got the chance to read it. A lot of laughs, and a good story to boot.
love it.......2004-07-16
I love this book! It was a great romance book and I hope there is a sequel.

The Tempation Sheriff.......2000-03-28
This is a fairly good "I don't have time to look for a wife but I need one" romance. It's a fast, smooth read with enough sizzle to make it interesting. The sheriff of Temptation, Texas is more than a little busy because the town is expanding and therefore not quite the sleepy little town it once was. His two best friends have recently succumbed to the idea of marriage and are blissfully happy - so much so that Sheriff Cody decides that there must be something to this idea of a wife. But without the time to search out the available ladies, he mentions that maybe advertising would work. His friends get the ball rolling, and the race is on....

Very good. I wish it had been longer. Kind of expensive for so few CD's.

Aunt Nancy and Old Man Trouble .......2006-05-20
When life gives you lemons make lemonade. If you ever turned good in to bad you would probably relate to Aunt Nancy and Old Man Trouble. This is a funny tale that tells about Old Man Trouble's visit with Aunt Nancy and how she turns all his bad luck in to good. I enjoyed this book also because of the reactions Aunt Nancy makes when Old Man Trouble's bad luck happens, like When Old Man Trouble makes Aunt Nancy brake her chair she says ''now ant that a mercy, just when I was wondering ware I was going to get some kindling wood.'' If you would like you should find out the surprise ending to this great book.
Cool Aunt Nancy.......2002-09-03
The Aunt Nancy in this book is my kind of old lady -- spunky! When Old Man Trouble comes a-knockin' on her door, she doesn't let him get the best of her; no sir! She uses a little reverse psychology on him and the next thing you know, Old Man Trouble is leaving town. It is no fun causing people trouble if they appear to be enjoying it. This is one of my two most favorite children's books...My 6 and 9 year-old children love Aunt Nancy.... It is a great book for any child or child at heart!
This is a really cool book........1999-06-02
This book is great because whenever Old Man Trouble brings trouble to Aunt Nancy, she makes something good out of it.
Charming character who will make you smile!.......1997-02-10
Aunt Nancy is a bright and clever character who outsmarts Old Man Trouble every step of the way. She is a shining example of getting lemons in life and making lemonade. One of the funniest scenes is when Old Man Trouble causes Aunt Nancy to drop a glass which shatters in all directions only to have her respond by thanking him since the glass already had a crack! When Old Man Trouble finally learns that he cannot outwit this sunny dispositioned lady, he heads off for greener pastures to cause trouble elsewhere. The wonderful illustrations and whimsical dialog clearly enhance the readers' enjoyment of each character. I look forward to revisiting the charming Aunt Nancy in her next adventure with "Cousin Lazybones."
