Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Product Description

`History: Fiction or Science? Chronology 2` is the second volume of the most explosive and astounding tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by rock solid scientific data. The book is easy and pleasant to read; it is well-illustrated, contains hundreds of charts, graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays. You will be amazed to discover: - That the chronology universally accepted today and taken for granted is simply wrong; - That ALL methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts known today are erroneous or non-exact; - That there is not a single document that could be reliably dated earlier than the XIth century; The Author refers to the Middle Ages as the “Antiquity” and proves mutual superimposition of the Second and the Third Roman Empire, both of which become identified as the respective kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Furthermore, he asserts that the famous reform of the Occidental Church in the XI century by “Pope Gregory Hildebrand” was the reflection of the XII century reforms of Byzantine emperor Andronicus who in his turn identifies with Jesus Christ. The Trojan war counted by Homer happened only as late as of the XIII century A.D. and the great poet actually lived in XIV century A.D. No stone in history of Antiquity is left unturned. Literally. This book is the beginning of a major correction to the chronology we live with.

I don't care what other people say of this book. Those affirmig it's fake, they hadn't ever read it. Or have some special reasons to do so. "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see..." This book won't make you feel comfortable. It'll make you feel free. It'll make you feel you're "not the only one" to feel you'd been lied to for centuries.

5 out of 5 stars Suprise! Suprise!.......2007-03-22

Here is a serie of books which turns "the whole world" upside down. I learned a lot of it and I hope that a new book from A.T. Fomenko will follow very quick. A absolute must for everybody who is interested in history or even a little bit from it.

5 out of 5 stars Prescient St Augustine?.......2006-02-05

We can so far divide the New Chronology into the following three parts:

a) The verifiable theory that proves consensual chronology wrong with the aid of astronomy, statistics and mathematics;

b) The new chronology hypothesis based on a new understanding of known historical facts and the most likely logical explanation of the most obvious inconsistencies inherent in the official version of history;

c) The history conjectures, that is experimental historical reconstructions based on assumptions that the authors believe to make sense in the light of their research and linguistic parallels - void of ironclad factual support to date.

Fomenko's theory complies with the most rigid scientific standards as a whole:

It gives a coherent explanation of what we already know.

- It is consistent: independent lines of inquiry all lead to the same conclusion.

- The predictions it makes are confirmed empirically.

Fomenko goes by the following axioms:

- Chronology is the basis of history;

- Human evolution has always been linear, gradual and irreversible;

- The "cyclic" nature of human civilization is a myth, likewise all the gaps, duplicates, "dark ages" and "renaissances" that we know from consensual history;

- The accumulation of geographical knowledge as reflected in cartography is a gradual and irreversible process;

- The chronological distance between a given manuscript and the events described therein is proportional to the amount of distortions it contains;

- There is no "useless" information in authentic ancient sources.

Why the mainstream historians do not shower mathematician Academician Dr.Prof Fomenko with thanks and laurels?

The Russians:

Because Fomenko asserts that there was no such thing as the Tartar and Mongol invasion followed by three centuries of slavery, providing a formidable body of documental evidence to prove his assertion. The so-called "Tartars and Mongols" were the actual ancestors of the modern Russians, living in a bilingual state with Arabic spoken as freely as Russian. The ancient Russian state was governed by a double structure of civil and military authorities. The hordes were actually professional armies with a tradition of lifelong conscription (the recruitment being the so-called "blood tax"). Their "invasions" were punitive operations against the regions that attempted tax evasion. Fomenko proves that Russian history as we know it today is a blatant forgery concocted by a host of German scientists brought to Russia by the usurper dynasty of the Romanovs, whose ascension to the throne was the result of coup d'état, charged with the mission of making their reign look legitimate. Fomenko proves Ivan the Terrible to be a collation of four rulers, no less. They represented the two rival dynasties - the legitimate rulers and the ambitious upstarts. The winner took it all! Over some 30 years of controversy, Russian historians have made a most remarkable transition - they were initially accusing the young mathematician Fomenko of anticommunist dissident activity and attempts to deface the historical legacy of Soviet Russia; nowadays the middle-aged mathematician is accused of adhering to "pro-communist Russian nationalism" and defacing the proud historical legacy of Great Russia.

The Westerners:

Because Fomenko blows consensual Russian history to smithereens, successfully removing a crucial cornerstone from underneath the otherwise impeccable edifice of World History. Fomenko adds insult to injury, wiping out one by one the Ancient Rome (the foundation of Rome in Italy is dated to the XIV century A. D.), the Ancient Greece and its numerous poleis, which he identifies as the mediaeval crusader settlements on the territory of Greece, and the Ancient Egypt (the pyramids of Giza become dated to the XI-XV century A. D. and identified as the royal cemetery of the Global "Mongolian" Empire, no less). The civilization of the Ancient Egypt is irrefutably dated to the XII-XV century A. D. with the aid of the ancient Egyptian horoscopes cut in stone. He was the first one to decipher and date all such horoscopes, coming up with mediaeval dates in every case. English historians rage at the suggestion that the history of Ancient England was de facto a Byzantine import transplanted to the English soil by the fugitive Byzantine nobility. To reward the English historians who consider themselves the true scribes of World History, the cover of the present book portrays Tintoretto's Jesus Christ crucified on the Big Ben.

The Chinese:

Because Fomenko wipes out the Ancient History of China outright. No such thing. Full point. The compilation of the so-called Ancient Chinese History is reliably datable to the XVII-XVIII century only. It is perfectly recognizable as the Ancient European history, reworked and transcribed in hieroglyphs as yet another historical transplantation, this time performed on the Chinese soil by the loving Jesuit hands. The Chinese are the next in line to go berserk. Chinese history is inevitably bound to get both more ancient and more eventful, proportionally to the growing involvement of China in the world affairs. Chinese historians will keep on finding valid proof of prehistoric Chinese spaceflights until the Politburo orders them to shut up.

The Arabs:

Too bad. Islam with all its key figures is datable to XV-XVI century A. D. Arabic historians may find consolation in the crucial historical role of the Ottoman Empire in the XVI-XVII century. The trouble is that this empire was initially a Christian state, with Hagia Sophia identifiable as Temple of Solomon, according to Fomenko! We can only guess if the acquisition of Alexander the Great (a Macedonian and a Christian) as the founder of the Muslim World Empire will make Fomenko's theories more acceptable to the Arabic mainstream. He certainly does not spare any holy cows at all, claiming The Stone of Qa'Aba in Mecca to contain the lost Arch of the Covenant.

The Divinity:

Despite of reiterated statement that his theory is all about chronology and not Religion, Fomenko stirs up a whole condominium of wasp nests. His collection of anathemas, fatwa, and other condemnations from all parties concerned is already considerable. Little wonder, considering that the history of religions à la Fomenko looks as follows: the pre-Christian period (before the XI century and JC), Bacchic Christianity (XI-XII century, before and after JC), JC Christianity (XII-XVI century) and its subsequent mutations into Orthodox Christianity, the Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, and so on.

According to Fomenko we know strictly NOTHING about the events that predate the X century A. D.

St Augustin was prescient when he spoke unto us: "be wary of mathematicians, particularly when they speak the truth."

4 out of 5 stars Something of a disappointment.......2005-09-09

After having read the first volume of this expected series of 7 volumes I was triggered by the thesis of these authors that ancient Greek and Roman history did in fact take place in the Middle Ages. So I started studying medieval history of the Middle East - also known as Islamic history - to find out if the opponents of the ancient Greeks and Romans - the Acheamenid Persians, Sassanids, Scythians, Egyptians, etc. - also have their duplicates in medieval history. My search was disappointing: none of the many medieval Islamic dynasties seemed to correspond to the ancient middle eastern rulers.

However, I did find a close correspondence between Herodotus' Persian kings and medieval events:

- the defeat and capture of an Anatolian king - the Lydian Croesus - by the Persian conqueror Cyrus is identical to the defeat and capture of another Anatolian king - sultan Bayezid - by the Asian/Mongol conqueror Tamerlane;
- the Persian conquest of Egypt by the cruel tyrant Cambyses reds almost exactly as the Ottoman conquest of Egypt by Selim the Grim (note the nickname!);
- Darius the Lawgiver of the Persian Empire looks very much alike to Sulayman the Magnificent, the Lawgiver in Islamic history;
- Xerxes, whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by the Greeks at the naval battle of Salamis, looks like Selim II (the Sot) whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by a Spanish-Italian alliance at the naval battle of Lepanto.

I should have expected Fomenko et al. to arrive at similar conclusions, however, they claim that the Persian kings are the alter egos of the Angevin kings of Sicily whose biographies do not contain the exploits of the Persian kings.

The similiarities I indicate lead to the conclusion that Herodotus must have written his Histories at the close of the 16th century. But this is extremely late, given that Herodotus is "the Father of History", so therefore all other "ancient" histories must have been fabricated even later. Yet, the founders of modern chronology - Scaliger and Petavius - laid their foundations also at the close of the 16th century and had the full corpus of ancient histories already at their disposal.

It seems to me that Fomenko has to address these inconsistencies, maybe in the forthcoming 5 volumes?

Another critique of their book is that the correspondencies between different rulers are often based on a superficial comparison of the biographies; upon a more thorough comparison many details appear that do not correspond at all.

Finally, the authors rely heavily on the works of Gregorovius (1821-1891!!) - his medieval histories of Rome and Athens - as the source of medieval history; these works are - at least in the West - hoplessly outdated and have been superceded by more up-to-date works (for instance, Julius Norwich's trilogy on Byzantine history is not even cited).

5 out of 5 stars Romulus courts Helen, Paris founds Rome, Moses goes to Troy.........2005-07-30

If you agree with Fomenko that Roman chronology is basically the foundation of the entire edifice of global chronology; you would also certainly agree that despite its numerous gaps and inconsistencies, Roman history is the best-documented field of ancient history, and thus a reference scale. But how well is the actual date of the Eternal City's foundation known?

Firstly, Rome is supposed to have been founded by the Trojans who had to flee after the fall of Troy. Some claim Rome to have been founded by Aeneas and Ulysses shortly after Troy had fallen; others are of the opinion that there was an entire dynasty that ruled for 500 years between the fall of Troy and the foundation of Rome.

Well, that's just an innocent 500 years long misunderstanding compared with what heretic Fomenko says, asserts, proves in his second volume: Second Roman Empire, Third Roman Empire, Biblical Kingdom of Israel, Biblical Kingdom of Judah, Holy Roman Empire are stories about basically same events, written from different points of view at different times. The underlying events have actually taken place during xii-xv cy. These histories have been written and perfected by multitude of highly talented humanist and clerical writers of xiii-xvi cy disguised as "ancients" with glorious names like Homer, Pluto, Thucydides etc..Chronology 2.0 beta..

Can true love survive High school, is the story about three young girls Holly, Mads, and Lina; they're best friends. Holly is a hopeless romantic who believes that she's sort of a match maker, Mads (Madison)is in love with a guy who doesn't acknowledge her exsistence, and Lina is so caught up in being in love with her teacher that she doesn't realize the potential boyfriend material in front of her. Together these friends pose the question is love something that can make it through highschool.From experience they find out the answer.
The book can true love survive high school by Natalie Standiford, was an okay book for what it was. Its the type of story most girls in juniorhigh believes is going to play out as her actual life or something similar to it when she gets to high school.One thing I like about how Natalie wrote the book is for each chapter she offered a horoscope for the character she was talking about, which foreshadowed whats going to happen next in the book. I also liked how she made an effort to make each of the characters totally different from each other, with their own (the characters) trials and tribulations.However I felt like I've read this book a million times over so nothing surprised me.Overall only the person reading the book can most best decide how they feel about the book. her teachers. "Fan club" is a pretty loose term considering that Lina
is in love with her teacher and thinks that they should be together.
Lina takes her obsession to great lengths when she plans to hide in
his closet at a party, and surprise him after everybody has left. Can
Holly stop Britta from getting married, and will Lina and her teacher
end up together?
Although this book is fiction, it is far from unrealistic. Natalie
Standiford has done an excellent job of depicting high school, and the
many challenges one faces there. Although I did not read the first
book, The Dating Game, I still found this installment and the third,
Ex Ratings, very enticing. One of the many things I like about this
series is that you don't have to start with the first book for it to
make sense. Each book provides enough background information on the
characters so that you can pick up the last book, which I also read,
and it will still be an excellent read, as well as understandable.
This book is full of unsuspected twists and turns that just keep
adding to the excitement. For example, when you think that Britta and
her boyfriend and having a nice, normal relationship, Britta breaks
the news of her plans for marriage to Holly by saying, "He said we
should get married, the day after I met him...He said it was the only
way we could be together. And it is. I'm going to do it. I'm going to
marry him." (p.119) So, if you're a teenage girl looking for a great
page-turner, I would definitely recommend this book to you.

4 out of 5 stars the trouble with love is..........2006-06-16

True loves always prevails, you just have to find it first. That's the hard part for Mads, Lina, and Holly, unfortunately. Mads' mom forces her to try out for a play that she has written, and Mads is more than happy to when she finds out that Sean's girlfriend will be in it, too. Lina is dismayed when she finds out Dan will be moving away, so she and Ramona decide to finally declare their love in a sneaky way that they will regret. Holly is back with Rob, but is sidetracked from him and her friends when she is swept up in playing matchmaker for Britta, expecially when Britta's parents refuse to let her see the guy she loves. Fun, fun, fun!

5 out of 5 stars A humorous and realistic look at high school life.......2005-09-23

The third installment in Natalie Standiford's Dating Game series, CAN TRUE LOVE SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL?, keeps the story of Holly, Madison and Lina moving and also fleshes out several minor characters from the previous books.

Holly has a new project, which is to find her pal Britta a boyfriend so that Britta realizes there is more to life than just school. Madison is still dating her artist boyfriend, Stephen, while continuing to moon over Sean in a subtle manner. And Lina still has a serious crush on her teacher, Dan.

All three girls seem to mature as the book progresses, which makes them better people and more likable characters. Britta can be a bit annoying at times, but this can be chalked up to her isolated existence; she now is beginning a serious relationship with a foreign boy and contemplating elopement. Holly's older sister invites Holly and her friends to spend a weekend at college with her, giving the girls a sneak peak at what life after high school might be like. Madison's mother has written an autobiographical play that is being produced, and she wants Madison and her younger sister to portray her in it. Madison is not thrilled, to say the least. Lina hopes to start something with Dan at a party, but begins to realize that perhaps he is not the best choice for a teenage girl.

As with the first two installments, Standiford's strengths are her characters and humor. Readers will be able to relate to Holly, Madison and Lina, and the situations in which they find themselves. This series continues to be a humorous and realistic look at life in high school.

Book Description

The Player Slayer is an outrageous and hilarious guide on how to defeat, reject and otherwise deflect the players in your life. It’s a real world revision of The Rules, an urban answer to He’s Just Not That Into You. With steel-sharp wit and cutting insight, “Ms. T” breaks down both the player and the game. Most importantly, she shows you how to turn yourself from a “mark”—alone, outraged and disappointed—to a “slayer” strong enough to withstand even the best game. Ms. T blows away the whole “don’t hate the player, hate the game” smokescreen to reveal what makes a player a player, what makes his game work, and why women get beaten up in the game. This down-and-dirty guide will leave you empowered with the knowledge to outwit, outlast, and outplay even the player’s player.

4 out of 5 stars Buy this book for your friends!!!!.......2007-04-27

I will admit when I decided to read this book I was very, very skeptical. But Ms. T points out some very excellent points, a lot that should be obvious. This book needs to be purchased for your friends, or anyone you know that has been in a relationship with a player, so they can be the Player Slayer!! You will read this book and smack yourself on the head when you see some of the things the author mentions. The author does point out that all men are not players. But after reading this book a lot of players will be scratching their heads wondering why their "game" is not working like it used to. Read this book and empower yourself! Stop being the players victim, and be one step ahead of the player.

The Mantra "I gots no love for you today!!!!" will hopefully replace "All men are dogs!!!."

5 out of 5 stars Must Read for all Single Women.......2007-01-27

I read this book so fast and learned SO MUCH about The Game that my head is still spinning. Ms. T, I just want to say THANK YOU for teaching me how to "Jam the Players Game". I'll recommend this book to every female I know!

5 out of 5 stars O K Sister, you got us........2006-10-22

Ms. T. tells it like it is. Players have an unwritten rule book, and Ms. T. has put it into print. This is the kind of book real men want their sisters and daughters to read.

4 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 4.5) - Slayers Unite!.......2006-08-09

Ms. T. breaks it down for the game-challenged ladies and gents in THE PLAYER SLAYER: The Pocket Guide to Jamming the Player's Game. Chock-full of advice on topics such as how to spot a player, how players choose the women they play, what happens throughout the course of "the game," and what happens when a player falls in love, THE PLAYER SLAYER is a tell-it-like-it-is account of why we get played and how to stop it.

Ms. T. kept me flipping the pages with her conversational prose, but I must admit that I was a little skeptical of this book when I began reading it. My first impression was that Ms. T. was saying all men are players and there is no hope for women who haven't yet snagged their "nice guy." I was mistaken. The author points out time and again that not all men (or women) are players and that there are plenty of worthy mates for us to choose from. The key is to recognize game when it's being played and not to get played. I'm an advocate of any book that will open eyes and the lines of communication for women and men to build healthy relationships or will spare someone the heartache of getting played.

Book Description

Prepare Yourself for Lasting Love

You’ve searched a lifetime for that special person, but how can you be absolutely certain that you’ve found “The One”? And more important, how can you hold on to that love for the rest of your life?

More Than a Match explores the “compatibility factor,” demystifying the science behind matchmaking and giving you the tools you need to find the love you want. You’ll learn how to apply the specifics of good compatibility to a prospective date or mate, as well as how to break things off when you find yourself in the wrong relationship.

But since great relationships aren’t built on compatibility alone, marriage experts Michael and Amy Smalley also delve into the “forever factor,” giving you the skills you need to turn your romance into a lifelong love affair. You’ll learn how to deal with conflict, how to develop a healthy sex life, and how to recover when you inevitably hurt one another.

Fantastic marriages begin long before the exchange of the rings; they start when two people in search of love commit themselves to learning to how to love well…and forever. Because finding and keeping the love of your life is about much More Than a Match.

4 out of 5 stars Honest Approach.......2007-01-23

Overall I would say this is a pretty good book. Both authors are honest about mistakes they have make (and they have plenty of examples). They are also doing people a service by bringing up some subjects to talk through before marriage that some may be reluctant to discuss. They offer good, practical advice. The book is unique in that I feel it is appropriate for people looking for someone to date as well as people who are already dating.

They are quite honest about their story which is courageous because some may say they rushed through their own dating experience given that Amy was engaged to someone else earlier the same year that they were married. Their candid approach does allow some good examples.

3 out of 5 stars realistic relationships.......2006-06-16

Though not as good as the first book in the series, Breaking Up is Really, Really Hard to Do is still pretty good. Mads, Lina, and Holly are back, and so is the Dating Game. Mads uses an art project to try and get closer to Sean, Lina creates a fake identity in order to talk to Dan on a dating web-site, and Holly decides to break up with Rob, wondering if it's the right decision. This series truly illustrates the hardships of high school.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good.......2005-10-23

I am an adult who loves reading "teen fiction". I picked up the first book in this series by fluke but I have found myself running after the second and third books.

This series is fun to read. While it does not really tackle many of the daily problems encountered by teens today - or should I say the book does tackle them, but never in any type of serious way, the storylines are cute and witty.

If I had a teen, I would have no problem suggesting these titles. I look forward to more in this series.

5 out of 5 stars Very realistic fiction, with a lot of humor thrown in for good measure .......2005-06-29

Natalie Standiford's second installment in her Dating Game series, BREAKING UP IS REALLY, REALLY HARD TO DO, is another example of fine realistic fiction, with a lot of humor thrown in for good measure.

Holly, Lina and Madison are enjoying the popularity that the success of their matchmaking project has brought them --- Holly is still dating Rob; Lina is still in love with her young teacher, Dan; and Madison is still madly in love with the swim star, Sean. As the novel progress, teenage angst at its best occurs. Holly becomes increasingly annoyed with Rob, most notably because of the cheesy sayings on his T-shirts and the way he asks for Holly's permission before kissing her. Lina discovers a personal ad that Dan has written. She answers, but not as herself --- rather, she responds as a college student who's studying film. Madison decides to use a portrait of Sean as the centerpiece for her art project, showing how her life revolves around her infatuation of him.

Returning are some minor characters, including Audrey, Madison's kid sister; Ramona, the leader of the We Love Dan cult; and Sebastiano, Holly's locker buddy. A new character is Stephen Costello, a fellow artist who becomes pals with Madison.

Like the first installment in the series, this book deals with relationships, friendships, self-esteem, confidence, and a host of other issues that teen readers will be able to relate to. Standiford's strength is her characterization and the realistic voice she creates for her characters. The three main protagonists are likable, believable, and just flawed enough to make them real. There is a lot of humor here as well --- the sayings on Rob's shirts are cheesy but funny, the rapport between the girls is full of zingers, and Ramona's saving of Dan's used napkins is creepy but at the same time humorous.

Standiford already has written the third installment of The Dating Game, entitled CAN TRUE LOVE SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL? I believe that Standiford's series will survive much more than that.

3 out of 5 stars the dating game continues.......2005-06-17

The dating game continues in the sequel, Breaking Up is REally, Really Hard To Do. All in All I'd rate this book a three, the whole series is a three as well, i mean i've read better books but if you're bored and looking for a quick read about teenagers and relationships it'll serve it's purpose fairly well.

Okay so the story basically continues about three best friends Holly, Lina, and Madision, and their lives. Lina is still madly obsessed with her teacher even though it is blatantly obvious Walker is interested in her, and that she actually has a chance with him. Personally the whole Lina thing really bores me and pisses me off, I think her crush on her teacher is extremely unhealthy and annoying. Especially when she creates a character Larissa and becomes e-pals/lovers with Dan. Madison is obviously stuck on Sean but also has this huge crush on Stephen, this was really funny to read about especially because Mads is extremely ignorant and shall we say clueless when it comes to really reading into things. Holly and Rob are still dating but she starts getting very critical of him and isn't sure if he is her "IT" guy or not.

This book is very predictable, but it ends on a nice happy note. It's cute, not amazing or anything, but if you're looking for a cute mindless teenage book I'd definitely give this one a look over.

4 out of 5 stars a good start.......2006-06-16

When three best friends, Mads, Lina, and Holly, are given a project in their sex-ed class, they decide to start a school-sponsored web-site called The Dating Game, where teens can fill out profiles for themselves, vote on polls, fill out questionnaires, and much more. Besides their boost in popularity, the web-site helps the girls get to know their crushes. The Dating Game is a good start to the series.

3 out of 5 stars good book.......2005-12-17

The Dating Game-The book the dating game by Natalie Standford was a very interesting book. The main points never rush into love. I think that a girl would want to read this and not a guy. The reason why is that it talks about things about girls and not as much as to guys. But that is my own opinion. The characters are well explained. They have minds of there own. The book is based on the teens and not the adults and teachers but only one guy teacher Dan. Every girl has a crush on him.
The three main characters are Holly, Mads, and Lina. They are best friends. This book kind of relates to me but not as much. It really didn't interest me, it wasn't a pull me in kind of book. But that is what I think. It might be different for other girls. So I wouldn't read it again. Other girls who love reading "Love" books would want to read this

2 out of 5 stars Thank goodness these girls are fictional.......2005-12-08

The Dating Game by Natalie Standiford rides the wave of alternative writing styles in young adult literature. Each chapter in this book opens with a whimsical horoscope followed by a mix of dialog, emails, instant message text, and quizzes that will appeal to teenage girls.
The story is set in a California high school for gifted students. Sophomores Madison, Holly and Lina need a project for their Interpersonal Human Development (IHD) class. They conceive the idea of creating and managing an on-line quiz for their fellow students hoping to prove their theory that boys are more obsessed with sexual thoughts than girls. The quiz is also designed as a matchmaking service to help the three girls meet their dream dates.
No complex issues are addressed in this story. Each girl works through a problem with little resolution in the end. Lina has a crush on the IHD teacher that blinds her to a senior boy who is pursuing her. Madison feels she is the last 15 year old virgin in California and sets out to change her image. Holly is the subject of rumors that depict her as a sex crazed wild woman and finds it almost impossible to get her classmates to believe her side of the story.
The characters are two dimensional but the high school setting and the weekend parties are believable. Although the writing style has high appeal for young adult readers I don't recommend this book because of the causal attitude toward teenage drinking and sexual behavior.

3 out of 5 stars Roxy Chick.......2005-11-06

This book kept me reading throughout the entire novel but there were some things that bothered me:
1. Are teenagers really this sex crazed?
2. Would a High school teacher really allow a student to make a project about sex?!
3. I went to high school once and usually at least a couple of parents cared about the safety of their children (sex, drugs etc.)
This book maybe even promote sex and therefore a book written like this should maybe take place out of high school.

4 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading the Dating Game.......2005-10-13

I enjoyed reading the Dating Game, and think this will be -the- new hit teen series.
Mad, Holly and Lena are close friends and each one of them have their own problems. They have a dating game project for sex-ed class, match-making students in their school who answer questions in their website -- and also finding matches for themselves.

Even though I find the three heroes a little annoying at times -- like Mad trying too hard to get experience, Holly was obsessing about her development and Lena falling in love with her teacher -- the book is still enjoyable to read and as a great sense of humour.

5 out of 5 stars Realistic, useful .......2007-07-16

I am a high school teacher and have incorporated this material into my curriculum (human sexuality). I don't use all of it, but much of it. It really sparks discussion amongst the students, and once the unit is complete, many tell me how much they appreciated the information. So many students relate to the topic, and they frequently discover that they have been victims of sexual grooming and just didn't realize it at the time. The information is also applicable to friendships and identifying healthy relationships. The information on setting boundaries is great. I also share this information with parents in my "parents of teens" class, and it has been well received.

4 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too.......2006-10-19

We have all heard, or seen, the crazy world of adults dating. From blind dates to speed dating, it may all seem too desperate. But speed dating for teenagers? Mads, Lina, and Holly are back in this fifth installment of THE DATING GAME series. After the unfair events of parents wanting to shut down the website, the girls are ready to take it to the next level. Instead of having to pair couples up by using information about each person submitted to the website, they decide to let their classmates do the talking by creating speed dating. So they set up their plans at the widely popular Vineland Café, and invite kids from their school to meet and greet the opposite sex. Each person writes comments about whoever they meet so that Mads, Lina, and Holly are able to pair them up perfectly.

But the new addition to the website isn't the only thing that the girls have to worry about. Mads is definitely trying to learn to kiss her boyfriend, Stephen, the right way, without him having to pull away. Lina has to deal with the consequences when she starts to write about the very familiar couple Tess and Peter in her new blog. And the newly single Holly has to decide if the guy she accidentally met at the speed dating event is real or not. The girls are definitely back with much bigger problems than before.

SPEED DATING was a great addition to this page-turning series. Although some of the important characters from previous novels do not make their way into this story as much as before, Mads, Lina, and Holly still keep your attention. After reading this novel, SPEED DATING sounds better than ever.

5 out of 5 stars All's fair in love and war. And when these girls are involved, along with a handful of guys, the war is on.......2006-05-19

Holly can't believe that her fantasy relationship with Rob is officially over, and without a good reason. All he told her was that he didn't have time for a relationship right now, and poof...it was over. Now Holly is on the rebound, and her two best friends, Madison "Mads" and Lina, are on a quest to set her up with Mr. Right. So they organize a Speed Dating Party - a time when fifteen girls meet fifteen guys for six minutes each, and get the chance to see if they'll meet the guy - or girl - of their dreams. Holly does, when she lays eyes on Eli. But his romantic recitation of cheesy lines leave her wondering if Eli is who he says he is, or if he's wearing a mask to conceal his true personality. Lina, on the other hand, is competing for an internship of a lifetime with the local newspaper, and spending every waking moment working on her blog about a made-up couple named Peter and Tess - who are truly Lina and her boyfriend, Walker. By writing about the romantic moments the two have shared, Lina gives Walker the reputation of a "whipped boyfriend," and ends up having her ideas stolen by the snobby witch, Autumn - her competition in the "win an internship" - esque contest. Now, she must try and put Autumn in her place, and win the internship fair and square if she truly wants to make it in the investigative journalism department. As if all that weren't enough, Mads is struggling with a very difficult situation. Every time she gets close to her boyfriend - kissing-wise, that is - he pulls away. Now Mads must try and figure out whether she's doing something wrong, or if her guy is just a little bit wonky.

Dating, kissing, boyfriends, and the like are basically the most confusing things a girl has to deal with in today's day and age. But now, thanks to the A DATING GAME series by Natalie Standiford, girls will have the opportunity to see how well things can turn out in the end, and discover some of the secrets lying inside the dating world. Mads, Holly, and Lina are exciting characters, all with their own flair for fashion, and individual personalities, which will make it easy for readers to identify with one, and truly "feel" what she's going through. With situations that will make grown women laugh out loud, and various scenarios that are bound to happen to all girls at some point during their time in "the dating game," SPEED DATING is sure to win points with all - young and old. Mix in the fact that there are some super fun quizzes sprinkled throughout the pages, and you're in for a scream. One that involves boys, kissing, and the wonderful - yet confusing - world of dating. All's fair in the game of love and war. And when these girls are involved, along with a handful of guys, the war is on.
