Beginning with the "10 Greatest Lies About Pregnancy" (number 10: Lamaze works), and ending with postpartum dementia, Vicki Iovine's Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy has fast become the laywoman's mouthpiece for the American pregnancy experience. Iovine is irreverent, sassy, and incredibly reassuring as she exposes the "truths" of pregnancy and childbirth, from sex to cellulite to cesareans. Iovine birthed four kids in six years, none of them twins, which certainly qualifies her as an expert. The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy does reveal Iovine's particular cultural biases (pregnant or not, most of us don't have record-producer husbands, hang out with supermodels, or wear size-four pants) and philosophical beliefs (she's not a particularly strong proponent of natural childbirth or nursing), but, taken with a grain or two of salt, she provides many hilarious moments, acres of advice, and honest reassurance readers will find nowhere else. --Ericka Lutz

Sure she has a sense of humor, but a real GIRLFRIEND might present with some better advice.......2007-10-07
This book is full of biased anecdotes from a woman who, sure, has a blunt and sometimes refreshing sense of humor, but could do some of us Girlfriends a huge favor by not leading us down a road sure to be full of possibly dangerous interventions. I believe that us Mommy's should make informed decisions about how we care for ourselves in pregnancy and childbirth. If you want to feel better about your cellulite, and unsympathetic husband, Ms. Iovine is a good girlfriend, the kind that can make you feel better about it by saying "you're not the only one" and help out with a blow-it-off attitude and sarcastic humor. Do not however be swayed without your own research from confirming and practicing (or at least getting an educated and empowering birth team and trying) an unmedicated childbirth. For the sake of your own health and your new baby's, put away your Size 4 attitude, and realize that when you commit to pregnancy (and certainly 4 for that matter) it takes work, education and confidence in yourself... a few great girlfriends certainly help, for sure, but rely on the ones who know when to give you the facts and the ones who know when to lie to you to boost your self-confidence. They both certainly have their place and time, but Ms. Iovine has clearly shown which kind she is. For a good education, please do not rely on this book. For a few laughs... maybe.
Loved it!.......2007-10-07
Very funny and informative. I recommend for all moms-to-be. It will teach you while you laugh.
A Must Read!.......2007-10-05
A friend of mine purchased this book for me when I became pregnant and I can honestly say that it is by far my "go-to" pregnancy guide. Vicki's advice is honest, irreverant and hilarious! I think many other books out there on the market put unnecessary pressure on new moms-to-be to be perfect. This book reminds you that you are a human being, and it's okay to not be perfect when you're pregnant. For once in your life you should relax and focus on caring for that baby inside you (and to keep your sense of humor too!) Some of the other reviews state that this book tells you to eat whatever you want and not exercise for 9 months, but that's not the case. I think they are misreading the message. The message is to stop trying to be a "superwoman" when you are pregnant and to just be healthy and take care of yourself. In our skinny obsessed culture, it's refreshing to hear that it's okay to eat and to not devote your life to the gym when you're pregnant for pete's sake! You have the rest of your life to run on that treadmill, so I say (and I'm sure Vicki would agree) - take a walk, eat a cookie and feel beautiful!
Hilarious, encouraging, and informative.......2007-10-04
This is a great book! A friend gave it to me during my first pregnancy and I loved it! Now I'm in my second pregnancy 5 years later and I'm reading it again! I had a ton of books the first round and this time I threw them all out except this one and Your Pregnancy: Week by Week. These are the only two books any pregnant woman needs to get her through pregnancy.
Depends on your mood. Better during the 1st trimester........2007-10-01
Depending on your mood, you're either going to like or hate this book.
During the first trimester of my pregnancy, while I was feeling horrible, completely sick, still "scared" and getting used to the idea, etc, this book was a blessing!
It's sarcastic, down to earth, no frills/ rainbows /flowers, straight to the point approach was exactly what I need.
Plus it was the only source that described some of the simptoms I was feeling, giving me some reassurance that it was normal and I was not the only pregnant woman in the whole world who didn't JUST feel morning sickness and nausea, but a whole bunch of other nasty things that made me sick.
But now that I'm feeling fine, happy, balanced, excited, this book no longers matches my mood.
To me, its mission was accomplished, and now it's time to move on.
If you're the kind of person who is very sensitive, doesn't take jokes well, is very natural-organic-type (believing in drug free labor) and if you are completely enchanted, happy and thrilled about being pregnant and everything that goes with it, you'll not like this book.

Great book with diagrams & steps to help you improve........2007-09-18
This book is definitely one of the best books I've read for those who want to improve their relationships. It's not only a book about how to do things, step by step & with pictures, it also gives you a perspective that you don't expect. This book is for those of us who aren't experts in the bedroom or want to add variety in their sex life. I would recommend it to women everywhere.
So good I passed it on to my girlfriend - her boyfriend is VERY happy.......2007-08-23

Customer Reviews:
Well written and organized.......2007-10-01
The book is well written, and organized to help make travel planning easy. Haven't traveled yet to rate the experience, but loaded with great ideas!
for my mom..........2007-09-06
I bought this for my mom and she's found some really great things to do with her gal pals in it...I think I'll borrow it eventually.
Girlfriend Vacation "Must Have".......2007-08-18
This is an interesting and informative book. If you need a girlfriend's getaway, you are sure to find the perfect place. I especially like the breakdown of places to go, see, visit, eat, etc. You won't be disappointed in this purchase.
Who did the research?.......2007-08-02
As a former resident of San Diego, I can name the two most touristy, and therefore useless, shopping venues in the city. And yet, these are the exact two places the author lists in the "shopping" category of the San Diego section. These are places that the tourist buses unload, food prices are jacked up, and the stores hold the same useless "made in China" knicknacks that you can get anywhere in America. Had the author done some research, she would have steered you to Cedros Design District in Solana Beach, home of SOLO and Zinc Cafe, or at least, for those looking for more traditional shopping, to Fashion Valley. When I go to another city to go shopping, I'm looking for something a little different, something I can't find just anywhere. This particular listing in the book makes me doubt the usefulness of the rest of it!
More than a travel guide.......2007-06-28
50 Best Girlfriends Getaways is a great travel guide - but much more. Not only does it recommend places to indulge every kind of interest, from spas to bargain hunting to athletic challenges (and lots of good eating), but it tells the stories of women who have found that traveling with other women - be it a sister, a daughter, a mother, or simply friends - can bring a unique kind of fulfillment. These stories are the sort that define the female experience. Marybeth is a long time expert in women's travel, and her guide is unbeatable for planning that special trip to celebrate a friend's big birthday, a daughter's graduation, or whatever occasion you can dream up.

Beyond child development theory and experts, beyond the "shoulds" and the "don'ts" that guilt-ridden parents constantly hear echoing in their ears, there's Vicki Iovine, America's favorite "girlfriend" and mother-in-the-trenches. In The Girlfriends' Guide to Toddlers, Iovine's third addition to her parenting panoply (The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy and The Girlfriends' Guide to Surviving the First Year of Motherhood) Iovine focuses, for the first time, more on the child than on the mother. (Toddlers always get all the attention, don't they?) Iovine is wise, and not just because she's read all the current parenting literature (she has) or heard it from her famous mythical "girlfriends." Iovine knows what she's talking about because she has four young children and she's been through it all. In her ongoing vision of parenting, humor and a network of friends play an important role, bribery has its place, discipline is sensible and loving, and advice is grounded in the practical rather than the theoretical. From "Eating (or Not)" to "Discipline" to "The Comfort Zone" (Binkies, Bankies, Loveys and Thumbs) to Potty Training ("What's the Big Rush?") to "Sleepy Time" to "Fashion" (yes, it's an issue for toddlers), Iovine continues her mission to inform the contemporary parent, to tell the truth, to boldly go where many child development experts have gone before, and to keep her readers laughing while she does it. --Ericka Lutz
Book Description
With a combined total of over 300,000 Girlfriends' Guides in print, Vicki Iovine offers the kind of tongue-in-cheek humor and straight-from-the-hip advice that has made her one of today's most popular authorities on child rearing. Now she takes the next step in the Girlfriends series by helping mothers deal with that mysterious, baffling, often adorable and frequently alarming being their baby has become--a toddler.
Customer Reviews:
Vicki does it again!.......2007-02-14
Another great installment for those of us who don't yet know what to expect out of motherhood... Funny, heart-warming, and truthful... A must-buy for any mom of a toddler!
Laughed out loud.......2007-02-12
Yet another great book by Vicki Iovine. Right on point, easy to read, and very easy to relate to.
Not a whole lot of usable info in this book........2007-01-30
I do agree that the book is funny and it is nice to know that someone else actually made it through the toddler years with a smile on their face, but at the end of the day there is very little information that you can really use. The advice on sleeping was non-existent and right now I am reading about discipline, and again no real actual techniques or ideas on how to handle these situations. And any advice that is given is very "low class". For example, under the 10 things to do when your toddler is driving you nuts include things like "Turn on the TV" and #1 on the list is outrageous...says something about "Go Away" and beg someone to come and watch them. I realize that she is trying to be funny but some of us actually buy parenting books to find usable advice. I agree with the other reviews that say to go for the books based on research and facts rather than a memoir of ONE mother reliving her baby days. I bought it because it seemed worth it...not so much once I read it. I am happier with the advice I got from the Supernanny book that includes step by step advice for many different techniques.
Fun to read.......2007-01-04
All her books are great and I enjoy laughing everytime I read them
Would not have survived without this!.......2007-01-03
I have had two toddlers, and will be back in what Iovine calls the "toddler trenches" within a year or so after this next one turns 1, and I fully expect to read and love this book again and again, especially during the potty training crises that inevitably arise.
I am a bit more into the whole co-sleeping/nursing thing than she is, but I see no reason to discount the overall message and advice just because we differ on a few technicalities. She captures the essence of parenting toddlers in this book, and with each run-through I have gotten something new and helpful out of it. I love her sense of humor, and as anyone who has been down this particular parenting road should know, sometimes that is the only thing that keeps you afloat.
I routinely give this as a gift to mom friends on their child's first birthday (along with, of course, a nice gift for the child) and will continue to do so as long as I can find copies. Mine is falling apart, the front cover is taped on and both my kids have scribbled on some of the pages, but that just shows it's a well-loved, well-used book, as it deserves to be.
Product Description
In this lively, contemporary book aimed squarely at women, author and clinical nutritionist Deborah Arneson fixes her sights on fat and the lies surrounding it. Her stated purpose, to put fun in nutrition, makea the case, often humorously, that many of the dictums of dieting are just plain wrong. Her direct, no-nonsense talk about what works and what doesn't makes for an entertaining take on a (literally) deadly serious subject-the ineffective-at-best, disastrous-at-worst methods being promoted for dieting and weight loss. Her oft-repeated point-that it's fat women want to lose, not weight-is butressed by her extensive knowledge of nutrition and her more than twenty years of expericence in the field. "Fries, Thighs, and Lies" is written to demystify what Arneson refers to as myth-information, from the food pyramid (beware, she says, it's making you fat), to the wrongheaded low-carbohydrate, hight-protein craze, or the amount of water you should drink. There's no technical jargon to wrestle down here, and gone are any traces of new, confusing-to-learn terms. What's left are easty-to-access, easily understood information, insights, hints, and tips to empower the reader in her battle against the bulge. Added to this self-help treasure trove are case histories of people who found success by following Arneson's program specifically for them. A detailed glossary expands on subjects in the book and includes precise, helpful food logs for intakes of 800 to 2500 calories daily. This short, pithy book doesn't waste your time, but it will help you waste your excess fat.
Customer Reviews:
nothing new said.......2007-05-14
This was highly repetative as though the author could not find enough to say so the same thing was said over and over. It was not at all enlightning and I felt as though the best thing about it was the title...so cute. It was a waste of money
Too difficult to pull out useful info.......2007-04-23
Fries, Thighs, and Lies is a rather haphazard assembly of some small portion of the diet information to come out in the last decade or so, with too much emphasis on the new-age, such as colonics. There are some good points in the book (e.g., concentrate on fat loss, not weight loss; drink more water), but you've probably already read most of them elsewhere. The text lacks references, so it's hard to tell which information has been substantiated by hard science, although a very brief reference list is included at the end of the book.
The book's description bills it as "easy-to-access" and with "no technical jargon," but there are a number of confusing passages and it's hard to imagine anyone actually using the included food log without assistance from a nutritionist. Poor editing contributes to the confusion and fact-checking appears non-existent; the book at one point recommends that someone of my (normal) weight should be eating 6 pounds of protein daily. And the "secret" to controlling your weight (never buy bigger clothes) is destined to leave more than a few people without the self-confidence to start a diet and exercise plan.
Overall, there are a few bits of useful information here, but it's too difficult to determine which information it is, and there's not enough discussion on actually implementing the recommended changes in your daily life.

AWESOME BOOK!.......2007-09-09
this book covers everything and is so helpful. it was even fun to read. i loved the little stories that were thrown in there. this is a good book to have around. it really made me feel better about what is going to be happening in the next couple of years in not only his, but my life too. i feel like im ready to handle a lot more now. thanks!!
Loved it!.......2007-08-14
Loved it, perfect for new wives in the military...if you have been doing this for awhile...I would not recommend it, but if you are new to the military it is PERFECT!!
A Valuable Resource.......2007-08-12
I bought MARRIED TO THE MILITARY soon after it came out in 2003. I think this book should be standard issue for every new military spouse. It's one-stop shopping for useful information on helpful agencies, acronyms, and lessons learned. If I'd had this book 18 years ago when I married my Army man, I could've saved myself a lot of mistakes, headaches, and confusion. Do a new military wife a favor and give her this book!
Marna Krajeski, author of Household Baggage: The Moving Life of a Soldier's Wife
By far the best for new to the military.......2007-08-02
I am a prior service military spouse and love this book. I find it a great addition to my library, and recommend it to new spouses and young soldiers. Yes this book was not geared for Army but it does teach you how to read an LES, and gives you definitions to military abbrieviations. It is definitly better than going to an army wife who never served and doesn't understand the full realm of how the army works.
Horrible Resource.......2007-06-13
Ive been a military wife for quite a while and I found the information in this book to be horrifying in some parts. I find it hard to believe that the writer does not attempt to wear her husbands rank especially by saying that a CO's wife should not be friends with a junior enlisted wife. Why the heck not?? Unless of course you are are wearing your husbands rank. If each are nice women with a lot in common, who cares. Secondly, please tell me where you get paid lots of extra money when you get married? If she is talking about the housing allowance when you get married she didn't specify, even then you could live on base and not get any housing allowance, so Ive been a wife for a while now and Ive never seen extra money for being married, I wish she would inform us where to get that money. As I get further into the book I get more and more frustrated. The reason I picked this book up was to see whether or not to recommend it to incoming Marine Corps girlfriends, fiancees, and wives and now I would tell them to stay far far away from this book. Another thing she said was that if you are stationed on the East Coast then its a lot less likely that you will get orders to the Pacific. Sorry girl, the military sends you where they need you, they do not base it whatsoever on where you are now or where you want to go. We've gone from the East coast to Asia to the mid-US as have many many of our friends. I have only made it through the first few chapters and I am not sure if I can stomach the rest. If you were going to write a helpful book you should have done some research and be a lot less gender discriminate. I would never recommend this book

Book Description
The creator of Boyfriend-in-a-Box is back with a new book that lays down the law, chapter and verse, for female relationships. Friendship between women is sacred. The Girlfriends' Bible is filled with hilarious "scriptures" that women can and do live by. What a divine way to tell your best gal pal how valuable that friendship is.Women and girlfriends of all ages will find bits of inspirational encouragement on every page: "Yea, though you walk through the valley of cracked sidewalks in high heels, do not fear. For I will be there to pick you up when you fall on your ass." "When you are heavy laden with PMS poundage, I will take your burden for you and deny thy girth." "I shalt not steal your boyfriend, hairdo, or signature color." "When you get older, I shall forsake you not. For friends are like wine-the older, the better. You can get equally drunk with old or new wine. But intoxication with old wine is far more pleasurable." "If your cup runneth over because your bra is too small and you look like a common whore, I will tell you, just as you would tell me about a visible panty line."

Giggles to Go!.......2005-04-27
If you and your girlfriends are in need of some giggles, or if you're looking for the perfect gift for the girlfriend that has everything, THE GIRLFRIENDS' BIBLE is just what you need. This witty book of comical quips is a testament to female bonding throughout all stages of life. The sassy bits of wisdom speak to our dreams, celebrations and calamities, transcending youth, middle-aged and golden years.
Divided into chapters, biblical style, author Cathy Hamilton shares "The Ten Commandments of Shopping." The chapters include such mischievous scriptures as, "Wither thou goest, I will go. Whither thou sleepest, I will never tell." Hamilton reassures us that friendship is forever, "And it will come to pass, that we reach old age, and this will not dishearten but inspire us to lose our inhibitions and do exactly as we please." She reminds us of the depth of loyalty, "And when a store clerk asks you what size you are and you answer with the lowest size in your closet, whether you can still squeeze into it or not, I will honor your answer and treat it as truth."
It's no wonder that Hamilton's book is a success. After all, she created the perfect man, Boyfriend-in-a-Box! THE GIRLFRIENDS' BIBLE joins Hamilton's other creative and funny books on the lighthearted side of the bookshelf: MOMISMS, DADISMS and KIDISMS.
Grab up a copy of this entertaining book and share the smiles and laughter on your next girls' night out!

The "Good Book" for women.......2004-11-28
I've given this book to five of my girlfriends already. It's hilarious...written in Bible style.. irreverent and sassy yet kind and sweet, at the same time. Passages are hilarious: "Whiter thou goest, I will go. Whither thou sleepest, I will never tell." The author invented Boyfriend in-a-Box, one of the funniest products ever! I love this book!

Just had a baby? Lie down, rest your weary womb, and muster up a rousing cheer! (Shh! Don't wake the baby!) Now, from the author of The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy, comes the book all new moms have been waiting for, whether they know it or not. Vicki Iovine talks turkey ... and stitches, and weight loss, and depression, and sex (trying it for the first time after labor and delivery? "Inebriate and Lubricate"). Vicki--yeah, I know I'm calling her by her first name but after reading this book you'll be on a first-name basis with her, too--is funny, informative, and utterly (udderly?) irreverent. New mothers have never had it so good.

Love her.......2007-08-27
These books are hilarious. They give you a funny, honest look at childbirth, the first year, pregnancy, etc. She is great!
Not as funny as the Pregnancy Guide.......2007-08-19
I'm a first time mom and I read this book when my son was 3 1/2 months old. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Yes, it probably would have scared me before the baby was born, but I feel that this was her honest assessment of the first year of life. This book was NOT as good as the Pregnancy Guide, which I loved, but it provided me with some good laughs as I compared my experience with hers (and noted many similarities!)
An honest perspective.......2007-08-18
First of all, I have to explain that I am the mom of two children ages 8 and 5. I started reading this book because I was considering it for a girlfriend of mine who is expecting her first child any day now. I really enjoyed reading "The Girlfriend's Guide to Toddlers" a few years ago when my 8 year old was in that stage so I was interested in reading this book with the intention of buying it for my girlfriend.
I decided to go Amazon to see what the price was for the book online, and was quite surprised to read so many scathing reviews. What surprised me most was how meanspirited and angry some of the reviews were, as if they were personally affronted by the author, Vicky Iovine's, viewpoint. That, I don't quite get. Why get so personal about it. It is just a book, and she is not your "girlfriend", but an author sharing her perspecives on motherhood. But some of the comments of reviewers I did consider to have quite a bit of merit. And after thinking about the reviews for an hour or so, I concluded something and decided to write my own review.
Here is what I have concluded and what jives with what some of the other reviewers have said. I think this book is humorous and biting at times and totally realistic and the realistic part may be why some newer moms do not like the book. I think it hits too close to home, is too much truth for some new moms to take, and perhaps is not a book that most moms of brand new babies, especially first time moms, can relate to.
As much as I loved my new baby, as a first time mom, I did have many trying moments. And I also totally lacked perspecive. I think that is what this book really offers - perspective. The author has it because she has had 4 children that are out of the baby stage and onto their childhood years. She can offer an honest perspective because of this and because she has come to terms with what her life has become since motherhood.
My conclusion is that this is a book that many moms of 2 or more children, and especially those with older children, would enjoy or get a chuckle out of because I can honestly say, looking back on the first year with my first child, what Iovine says really does ring true in many respects. Now, would I have wanted to have heard all that at 2 months post-partum? Maybe not. Perhaps like many, I was still in the phase of thinking I could be a perfect mom if I just tried harder, that I could someday have my old body back exactly as it was, that my husband would be superdad (which he has BECOME, over time). This book reminds me of those early days, and I believe truly does offer an honest perspective of how it is, if one really wants to hear it.
Did She Really Say That?.......2007-08-02
New motherhood comes with it many pressures. The pressure to take care of a newborn and yourself, for starters. There is also a societal pressure, it seems, as we strive to be the perfect mother. We feel everyone is questioning our every "mother-move." Vicki Iovine's book is a help in this regard. Written with honesty and humor, it gives new mothers a glimpse "behind closed doors" to the "real" world of new motherhood. Knowing that you are not alone is always a help! My favorite part is Iovine's honesty. It is refreshing to hear an opinion, agree or not.

Another Great Chicken Soup!.......2007-03-09
I love the Chicken Soup series and this book didn't disappoint! I bought 5 of them for Christmas. Four to give as gifts and one for myself. All of my friends loved it too. Would definitley recommend!
My emotional Rollercoaster.......2006-05-22
The stories in Chicken Soup for the Girlfriends Soul took me on a very high and low emotional rollercoaster. The stories made me smile and some made me sad. I didn't particullarily like this book because I think that it was directed to an older audience. I am 15 years old, and some of the stories were about life-long friendships. I couldn't seem to relate to many of the stories. Overall, this book wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't the worst book I have ever read.
I laughed, I cried.......2005-08-02
As with all the Chicken Soup books, I was able to relate to a lot of the stories and I really enjoyed reading the book. I'm giving it to my best friend who is leaving for college and I think she will really enjoy it also.
Book Description
A celibate husband and wife are the two most dangerous people on earth . . .
Neil and Anya Meadows are stuck in a sexless marriage. Anya suffers from a hormonal disorder that leaves her with no sex drive at all, while Neil has a voracious sexual appetite. After one unfulfilling encounter too many, they make a deal: Neil will be allowed to have a mistress, but only for oral sex and only twice a month. And he’s forbidden to fall in love with her.
Things don’t exactly work out as planned. Neil and his mistress Danielle have a child together, and all of them—Anya, Neil, Danielle, the new baby, and Neil and Anya’s daughter—decide to live together as Houston’s most complicated blended family. The tension builds as each is forced to make difficult choices, as well as to come to terms with the past—and the future.
Fast-paced, provocative, and sexy,
My Husband’s Girlfriend explores issues of morality, emotional ties, family, love, and monogamy, and is an eye-opening novel about the complexity of modern love.

Too Unrealistic.......2007-07-13
Now, why I will admit there are husband's who have girlfriends, I think this author took it over the top when she wrote about the girlfriend dropping off the love child at the wife's house to watch. What WIFE is going to babysit the child of her husband and his mistress. It just became a bit too unrealistic for me. The wife never went off or really broke down. I know there are women suffering from esteem issues, but that is not the way this wife was painted in this book, so I think there could have been a bit more drama. A real sister isn't going for all of that!
Quite disappointed........2007-06-21
After reading the back of the book, I thought that the concept was a good one. But after having read the book, I just have to say that I was annoyed with all three main characters. I don't know who I was supposed to be rooting for. In my opinion, none of them were likable characters. I personally wouldn't waste my time.
MHG: A good solid read........2007-04-25
I really enjoyed this book- a tale of a husband going outside the marriage and having a baby with another woman. I asked myself what I would do in a situtation like this. The answer is quite simple: I would call up my girls and run up on the "other woman" and issue a serious beat down... End of story.
But we wouldn't have a novel, would we? Nope.
I think Ms. Rax took hard volatile subject matter, and created a riveting story. I read this book in about 2 days, because I wanted to know what the outcome would be. What I really liked about this book is that the author slowed things down and gave us a look into the mind and hearts of people who were caught up in a jacked-up situation. I was very much impressed with the spiritual aspects of this novel and the psychological struggle within over what's right and what's wrong, and the muddy line that separates the two.
This was definitely a good solid read, that flowed pretty fast, especially when written in the immediate present tense. I loved both of this author's books, and I can't wait for the next!
What we will do for Love?.......2007-04-17
The Author had a great concept with this book but She just went the wrong way with it! I really wouldn't waste my time with this book. Thank Godness I borrowed it!!!!!!
A little disappointing.......2007-04-16
Fox's first line "A celibate married couple are the two most dangerous people in the world." coupled with the title set the stage for a steamy tale. I must say that I was a bit disappointed as the middle portion of the book tends to go on and on.
Anya and Neil draw up a contract similar to the agreement between Abraham and Sarah in the Bible. And just like Sarah, Anya's good intententions lead to destruction. Neil agrees to Anya's terms but oversteps the boundaries with his mistress Danielle. It appears that the only sane people in this entire novel are Vette (Neil's sister) and Riley (Neil and Anya's neighbor.)There are also two very innocent victims in this sordid tale Reese (Neil and Anya's daughter) and Brax (Neil and Danielle's love child.)
Despite the somewhat prolonged nature of the book, one is left to wonder a lot of things. How far should a wife go to make her husband happy? How much should a man sacrifice for the sake of his marriage? Should you really keep your friends close and your enemies closer?
All in all this was a good read. The writer has a very good idea behind the book. It just appears that she had a tough time bringing it all together. At one point I wanted to insert myself into a scene and slap some sense into Anya.
